Our “Meggie” is 17 now...she’s been through a lot, and Dr. Primm has helped us through all of it...from arranging, when we were on the road on vacation, for emergancy surgery at Colorado State Univ. School of Veterinary Medicine to ordering special anesthesia recently so our little dog could have her teeth cleaned without as much threat to her failing kidneys. Dr. Primm and her staff have diagnosed and treated so many problems with this little dachshund, referring her to specialists for a root canal, to an internist for a parathyroid tumor and a nutritionist for a special renal support diet. Our little girl just keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny, thanks to the loving care that we have had at Applebrook for so many years. We highly recommend Applebrook Animal Hospital!

When it comes to our fuzzy friends, it becomes even more important to find a vet you (1) are comfortable with, (2) will take good care of your pet, and (3) be proactive. I can honestly say Kathryn Primm is the most straight forward, honest and caring vet we have ever met. On our first visit, we told her we were interviewing her for a job. She passed with flying colors and we could not be happier. Recently, we were afraid our Cocker Spaniel had breast tumors, Dr. Primm did the surgery and biopsy (plural) and they came back negative. She always gives us an explanation, an estimate of charges, and no surprises. I would be the first, and proud to do it, to recommend Dr. Primm to anyone in the Ooltewah or East Brainerd areas around Chattanooga for your pets. A few hours after we came home my dog seemed to be in pain from his shot and the exam of his bad knee. They got him back in and checked him out thoroughly. I'm new to the area and was unsure of where I wanted to find great care for my dog. I read all the great reviews for this place so I decided to try it out. Staff was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be it was a little pricey. My dog had to be sedated for an x-ray so they wanted her to have all her shots and a heartworm test before it was done. Guess it's good precautions but I ended up paying a pretty penny for it all.

Dr. Primm has taken excellent care of our two cats for years now. She cares deeply for the animals she serves and wants the best care for them, but she also is sympathetic to the difficulty we owners have at times paying for care of larger medical problems. She always lays out the options and her recommendation, then supports us in making the best decision we can (which in several cases has meant saving for a little while). She and her staff are warm, knowledgeable, and professional. Having used 2 of the other vets in the area, I can without question recommend Dr. Primm. If you care about your pet and want to be informed and empowered in providing them with the best care, this place is the best choice.

I love this place! There are no words to describe just how thankful I am for saving my long haired daschund, Connor. He was paralyzed in his back legs by the time we got him there. I'm giving this vet two stars because the staff is friendly. But for over ten years, my family went here because it was the closest animal hospital. I hated taking my parent's dogs here, though they insisted, because it was always crazy expensive, and Dr. Primm never could figure out why my lab had ear problems. She would just give her medication that was at least $60 to put in her ear to help the symptoms, but never cured the problem. And always tried to charge crazy amounts for medication that is on the grocery stores $4 list (price gouging, ugh!) I feel like this vet was always hesitant to tell us what was going on, just tried to keep giving us medication for the symptoms. I finally took my lab to another animal hospital, they gave my lab an ear drop one time, and she never had ear problems since! She could have been better YEARS ago. Instead I made her suffer by taking her to this vet, and just trusting her... I feel so awful for not trying a different vet sooner. Save your money and your dog's suffering and take them somewhere else. Me and my whole family agree, this vet seems more about the money now than anything.

She is thorough, efficient, and cost effective all while providing excellent care. We moved to Signal Mountain 4 years ago, but continue to travel to Applebrook for their services. After going through several vets after we moved to the Chattanooga area in 2001 and multiple bad experiences, in 1998 after the unnecessary loss of my cat Sundance to diabetes, I visited Dr. Primm, I interviewed her and she gave me a tour of her hospital, I decided to give her a try. She has taken care of multiple cats and dogs for us over the years. Before she went digital it was always easy to find our file as it was the fattest one.. Shortly after starting to go to her, Butch, the brother of Sundance developed diabetes. He survived for 5 more years to the age of 18 under Dr. Primm watchful care. She took great care of our dog Shadow who had liver disease and gave us the support and information we needed to know what to do to help him and when it was time to say goodbye. She always answered our emails in a timely manner. She is still our vet for our dog chloe and we will be bringing her our cat as a new patient shortly. Jacki

I had taken my furry baby, Kallie, to another vet the past few times but they never were up to the same par as Dr. Primm. When Kallie wasn't feeling well, I immediately called Applebrook. Dr. Primm and staff were excellent even though Kallie was nervous. Dr. Primm did everything she could to ease Kallie's nerves, as we sat in the floor to examine her! Dr. Primm gave me treatment options but did not suggest unnecessary testing nor medication that I feel the other vets office pushed every time!

Visited Applebrook because my basset hound needs regular pressure checks on her eye because of glaucoma. My regular vet is wonderful but she is located about 25 minutes from my home and Dr Primm is local to me. This makes it easier to run her down for a pressure check when I feel it is a good idea. It was a very nice facility. The staff were all very courteous and Dr. Primm impressed me very much. I have owned dogs since 1966 and lived in different areas where I've used quite a few vets. Dr. Primm is very knowledgeable and my baby felt pretty comfortable with her which is important to me. I will be using her as my backup vet o a regular basis.

Been taking my 2 dogs there for years, great service. When my old dog was having breathing issues we took her there. She, sadly, later died. They put her out so she wouldn't feel any pain. I have been taking my Golden Retriever here for about four years now, and I have been very impressed with the level of care offered by Dr. Primm and all the techs. My dogs have gone to Applebrook for everything except shots which we do at a local vaccination clinic because it is cheaper. I called to get an appointment for my dog who was having muscle spasms. The receptionist offered me no appointment time unless it was an emergency. I emailed the vet to let her know that I was offered no appointment. She wrote me back that the receptionist claimed to have offered me an appointment the next day. I told her that was not true or I would have booked and I would be taking my business elsewhere. The vet then emailed me again saying she just realized that she had overheard and that I was offered an appointment. This was not the first time a receptionist did not communicate good customer service. I am a 30 year old woman, and a teacher. I have no reason to lie and will not patronize a place where they are in the practice of accusing clients of lying to cover their poor reception skills.

Dr. Primm listened to our concerns and involved us in the treatment process. We took one of our Great Danes (Hudson) to see Dr. Primm after another vet advised we have his tail amputated for "happy tail syndrome". His tail was very traumatized from his repetitious striking it against anything and everything. People that are owned by Great Danes will be nodding right about...now. We were not unhappy with our vet, but wanted a second opinion. All I can say is that the level of customer service is unmatched. We were impressed with the treatment and the time Dr. Primm and her caring staff took with Hudson (us). We were impressed after the initial visit by the amount of follow up and continued concern for our needs. We have always taken our dog, Dilly, to them. Never again. Dropped him off this Friday to be neutered. When I came in at 745 I had to yell to get any ones attention as they were in the back laughing and carrying on. When they finally came up front they hounded me about a 30 dollar flu shot being boarded the past Christmas which I had paid upfront before boarding our dog!! Went to pick him up today the office told me and my husband that our dog had popped and peed in his kennel and lot. They had to bath him everyday. She told us that they had to bath him again today! Then she told us from now on to just use a pet sitter because of having to bathe him!!!!!!!! Never happened before when they boarded him! When we got him home he smelled really bad so we had to bathe him, they lied about bathing him today. The office person made it clear to not ever bring him back!! We weren't anyway after what we heard today!! that is the last 400 you will get from us..

Dr. Primm has been taking care of our pets since 1997. We have always been pleased with the care she has given our animals and stayed with her even when a move made it a much longer drive. During a recent pet emergency (cat with urinary blockage), however, she has shown us just how exceptional and dedicated she is! She didn’t just clear the blockage and send us on our way – she researched all the latest thought on causes, prevention, and treatment and explained (in language we could understand) what our options were. She also got opinions from other vets and located a surgeon that could do surgery (if that was the option we chose) for significantly less money than the local animal emergency hospital. (Just a note: we had to use this hospital when a blockage occurred on a Sunday and they charged us 4 times as much as Dr. Primm did for the same procedure.) When it became obvious only surgery would save his life, she spent a lot of personal time on a SUNDAY convincing the surgeon to rearrange his schedule (and rearranging hers) so that the surgery could happen the next day. I have no doubt this required a good deal of her time and caused her and her staff a great inconvenience, but she did so with a smile on her face. Throughout it all, she was available for advice via email even when the office was closed. I doubt there is another vet in all of Chattanooga who would care enough to give up so much personal time. She is exceptionally dedicated and provided us with exemplary service. This is very obviously more than just a job for her and she has earned our endless loyalty.
