My dog got into a variety of items today while she had her first experience at home alone when I was at work, the items of concern are potentially plastic and glass. I brought her in a few hours later because she started acting lethargic and stumbling everywhere. The receptionist and vet technician were so compassionate and just as equally concerned. I wish I could leave a positive review for them. The actual vet who did her exam, and spoke to me kept insinuating that she must of ingested a narcotic or marijuana even though I had been clear multiple times that it was not a possibility. There is not even hand soap present in the area she was in because I was worried about this exact possibility. I work in management for a pet brand corporation, and am required to take a drug test just like everyone else. It's clear this vet judged me based on my personal appearance instead of the symptoms of my dog. She took one xray and accused me for about 5 minutes. If you want compassion and thorough care, this isnt the place for you.

it's all your fault

We have a 18 year old Chihuahua and he gotten bitten late at night and from the moment we called them we got excellent service. When we arrived they were ready for him, friendly, and caring. The vet and techs always kept us updated and showed compassion for us as well as our dog.I also would like to say this is cleanest facility I have been in.Not only was the staff awesome to us but everyone who came through those doors that night. To be put in stressful situation and to have someone comfort and show compassion speaks volumes for me.Hope to never have another emergency. But if we do we know exactly where we will go.

Verrrrry expensive. But was good with my dog.

We never visit this place by choice, but unfortunately we have had to make a few visits to Animal Emergency & Specialty. EVERY visit we were promptly greated by the professional staff with care and concern. If my dogs ever need any emergency services I dont have any question of where I take them for the best care.

Shannon Williams

Took really good care of bobo

Kevin Humphrey

Friendly, kind. There when you need them

So glad this emergency clinic exists, even though I don't want to have another emergency need! Staff was super nice and very quick to respond to our need. We had a diagnosis in a short amount of time. They eased our concerns and gave us their first attention.

Tracy Henderlight

The Vet ER was is quite a drive for us, but it was worth to get Oreo thoroughly checked out. They were very attentive and prompt, but most importantly they were all to diagnose his ear infection and got him feeling better right away. Thanks so much!

Regina Alvers

I couldn't have asked for a better team when my little man got sick. Thank you for all that you do!

Marla Bridges

Never go back. Snotty staff! They need to work at walmart.

Lynda Rice

We came in cause our dog of 10years was having a hard time breathing. Come to find out it was his heart. We didn't have the money for all the test, blood work and etc but they worked with us as much as they could..we had to end up putting him down that night but the staff was so caring and understanding..esp when our children and other dog came to say goodbye..they made it so comfortable so our goodbyes wouldn't be so hard.if I could give 10 stars I would

Stalker Island

They fix up your pup great if there's an emergency. It's gonna be expensive but it's an emergency. Luckily we received great service and Maggie is fine.

Kathie Quackenbush

Thank you for saving my yorkie’s life! You are angels! What an amazing staff of Vet’s & nurses! Chloe is like a puppy again!

James Schrubb

They were able to get my dog in there fast with a bleeding emergency. They also were able to get her cleaned and bandaged up. Now after surgery; she is on the road to recovery. :-)

Jim Nash

This place is great! We arrived around 12:30 am. As soon as the lady at the front desk saw our dachshunds swollen face, jaws, and neck, she called to the back and had someone take muffin to the back to get started. No questions asked. The dog was obviously the top priority. Not the paper work, and not the questions. Don't get me wrong all that was done but only after the exam was underway. The veterinarian quickly assessed the situation and explained our options. Treatment was given to Muffin and we were treated very kindly. It's not cheap, but worth every penny for such a great service 24/7. If you have a fur baby emergency do not hesitate to take him or her here. I highly recommend this place.

nick elliott

The staff was quick to respond to our pet's needs and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again if my pet needed emergency medical assistance.

Linda McLin

They took great care of Annie when she had her ACL surgery, fabulous doctors and great staff!!!

my dog was having constant seizures peeing on himself eyes glazed over couldn't walk and couldn't see and couldn't breath they said they ran tests on him said he had diabetes? Told us he needs to stay over night so they can run exams and more tests on him so we had to pay $1100 for him to stay over night in a oxygen box called us up told us they need to keep him for 3 more days for $3600 so they can treat his diabetes we decided to take him back to are vet instead so they called us up the next morning told us to come and get him we went up there to get him first thing they wanted was the money then sedated him told us we need to prioritize his diabetes and not worry about the other problems and they got aggravated at us for worry about his other issues as if we are not taking his diabetes seriously and for the $1100 overnight stay to run exams and tests which they did not do they pretty much told us they don't know what is wrong with him we took him back home after he fully woke from the sadation meds they gave us meds for the seizures that even after that he was still having he was in the exact same condition all night the next morning he still couldn't hardly breath he couldn't pee anymore and he was getting worse almost dead we finally had to take him to the vet and put him down to end his suffering I'm so glad they made money off our tragedy and couldn't even help us will never come up here again.

David Dyer

Nice and well kept up. Staff friendly.

Dr Duncan was great. I took my dog after an abdominal surgery because he was having trouble. A girl came out to the car, scooped him up like a bulldozer, with her arm wrapped around his abdominal incision. Then he suddenly started bleeding internally. Wonder why?

Sean Striker

I have had to use this facility two different times. Both times, I was met at the door and was asked if they could help. Very professional, clean facility. Front desk was more than helpful and polite, vet was knowledgeable and very prompt to my pets needs. Very nice to know kind people like this are 24/7 if your pet needs them.

trinity foster

Office visit is like 120 which is kinda pricey but for all they did for our puppy it was not bad at all, staff is really nice and cared about your pet

April Coward

They take good care of your fur babies but they're very expensive.

Wclarke525

Our sweet girl was cut accidentally by the groomer. We went there on a Saturday afternoon after I called our regular vet and was told they wouldn't take her because they closed 10 min before. The staff was very nice and up front on the cost of the treatment and stapled her wound very quickly. Will recommend to anyone.

Jodie Hamilton

Thank You to All the Staff for Being Available on this Holiday Weekend ❣️ We said goodbye to our Lab Abby today

Heather McNeil

Friendly, quick, competent and not even a little condescending for a frantic 330am visit. Awoke to terrible sounds of cat ... we concluded he had a seizure. They took great care of us both.

Cherie Alley

My mini dachshund put his snout where it didn’t belong (guessing stung or bite) causing it to become swollen and needing attention. I ran him to the Animal Emergency & Specialty Center where I had taken him once before when he had had another type of allergic reaction several years ago. The staff and Vets were so wonderful and attentive even though it was a full house that weekend evening and, as they were our last visit. I’m definitely a repeat client and so thankful there is a wonderful facility for my dogs when my Vets are not available!

Melanie Kelly

The specialty clinic was recommended to us by our regular vet. Our dog needed some diagnostic testing that my regular vet didn't offer. Dr. Rutherford was great! He explained everything in detail. Price of testing wasn't over the top. Really great experience

Joe Taylor

We brought Kobe to you Monday morning, April 1st. He had a wonderful day in the yard Saturday but began to be some what lethargic Sunday evening. By Monday morning his breathing was heavy and he was non-responsive. You did everything you could do but it was his time and he passed Monday evening. Everyone from the front desk, docs and support staff were incredible in helping us walk through his admission, treatment and the decision on his final resting place. Allowing us to spend time with him was priceless. If it would help any other family, we can only say it was very comforting to us to be able to see him one last time before we buried him. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Albert Kidwell

Very pleased with the services my Dog recieved tonight. Every single person was extremely nice to me and my dog and they treated us like family. This place really does care about animals!

Mandi Miles

We had just gotten a puppy on 2/14 when his eye ruptured, the doctors and staff were great at taking care of him and I can not thank them enough for that!

Matthew Johnson

A caring and attentive staff. Doctors take the time to explain procedures and follow up care in clear and concise terms. Clearly they care about animals, but they also treat people with compassion and concern.

Lauren Brown

Amazing facility and staff. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. So impressed with the quality of care provided throughout our entire time including postops. Highly recommend!!!

Lynn Cawood

We took our Sweet Josie to this office, she later passed away from cancer. The staff from everyone from the front desk people to the techs and doctors were outstanding. The care that everyone showed was so kind and so compassionate. We received a kindly handwritten sympathy card from the group after Josie's passing. The staff was up front with us with her prognosis and they didn't try to do anything un neccessary just to make money. They truly care about their craft and these people are among the best.

Ann Hodge

I've taken two of my pets here. The staff is friendly, caring and knowledgeable. When my English Mastiff had to spend a couple of nights the doctor called to let me know how he was doing and I was allowed to visit him. The doctor also called with test results, not one of the assistants. The only reason I gave 4 stars was the cost. However, they do give you a breakdown of costs prior to starting treatment and explain why it is needed.

Tyler Shingleton

Dr. Philips and numerous members of his staff should be ashamed of themselves from every area of professionalism. They are great at reading files, but absolutely horrible at anything related to thorough communication towards full comprehensive understanding for the pets owners. This is especially important when it matters towards a care plan moving forward for the betterment of one's pet. This all started by my dog and I showing up due to a referral from our regular veterinarian just about 20 minutes prior, but upon arrival nobody knew why we rushed there on an emergency basis, even though our personal veterinarian talked with a doctor at this location and told them I was on the way and would be there soon. Furthermore, this is an emergency hospital too. After that there were numerous staff members that told me they would contact me throughout the issues of my dog having radiographs performed, but only one call was ever placed and that was at 12:14 o'clock in the morning. I was then told that they would need to perform another radiograph at around 8:00 o'clock in the morning and that I would receive a call with how the results of that were viewed in order to make decisions moving forward for surgery or no surgery etc. Yet, no call was ever received even though my dog had a foreign body in her stomach. Thus, they throughout inaction of communication obviously did not care about how things needed to progress for my dog getting the half eaten tennis ball out of her stomach. So, I waited two hours past that time that I was told that I would receive a call and called the office myself to inquire as to if my dog needed to have surgery, or what exactly was going on at that time. She was an inpatient from the night previous, and I was left completely in the dark as to how things were progressing the morning after towards the betterment of my dogs health. I would not have gotten my dog back yesterday evening without consistently calling to get updates from where she was at in the ICU after her scope procedure. They apparently wanted to wait to see if my dog would eat after the procedure, which of course makes complete sense, but yet hours after the fact did not seem to think that it was a good idea overall to keep me updated. Then when I got in touch with Dr. Phillips today (first day my dog has been back home) due to the concerns I had about the team that he leads, he was incapable of handling constructive criticism and he only wanted to hear it in the ways that benefited him. All he was telling me is that well I see this happened in the chart, but I don't know where the ball was dropped due to that I wasn't on the case specifically. Therefore, that statement had zero acknowledgement for anything that had gone wrong and zero acknowledgement for how a thorough doctor might want to comment about how they will plan to solve the issues along with answering my questions related to my dogs diet given the scope procedure. After that, Dr. Philips then blamed UT for how they treated my dog a couple of days prior, even though that had zero relevance to how his company treated everything overall. He wasn't trying to understand where his organization messed up, but he was asking questions about why my dog even got to their emergency hospital in the first place. That is of no substance afterwords. Who cares why she was there, the facts are that she was there and he wanted to talk about what other veterinarians did or did not do previously. Shifting the blame in communication proves that no issues will ever get solved and that it just is what it is at an organization such as this. The one doctor that I talked with during my dogs stay prior to picking her up did not seem to comprehend how important communication is either. Therefore, this organization is a complete mess. Unfortunately, there are very few emergency veterinarians within the area, and so at the time this is where I had to go. When personal opinions outside of medicine get in the way of professional ethics towards caring for pets first, like they do here, GO ELSEWHERE!

Lenny’s Mom

Such caring doctors and staff! Dr. Luis explains the details and options and does for my Lenny as he would for his own dog. He rocks! The Animal Emergency and Speciality Center rocks!!!

laura harvey

They are so caring and professional. They take wonderful care of your animals and keep you up to date on how your pet is doing. Place is very clean.

Joni Hally

My elderly dog got sick while we were traveling across the country. They helped get my dog on a road to recovery so we could finish our travel & I could nurse him back to health on my own instead of hospitalizing him. I'm happy to say 1 week later he is back to his lovely self & all better! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

My daughter took her dog to this vet on a Friday night for breathing issues. They took the dog back and told her it was a birth defect that the dog needed surgery and it would cost $5200.00 Shes a single mother of 2 who just went through a terrible loss just before she got this dog and feels very attached to the dog. The vet played on her emotions and billed her $600 dollars to run tests. Then when I went to pick the dog up today they tried to charge me more for "services preformed overnight". I told them I wasn't paying anything more and the lady went in the back to talk to the manager. When she came back out she said she found the "mistake" and that they had over billed us the day before. So I didn't have to pay any more. Funny how that works. Then they gave me a prescription for his "birth defect" that is supposed to help his breathing. Turns out it's an appetite stimulant. These people are DISHONEST and only care about getting every penny out of you.

Rhonda Keeley

They are very caring and answered all my questions. Price was responsible. I am thankful that we had someone who cared about a member of our family.

Shannon Smith

The whole staff was amazing & so caring!!!! Great all around service from everyone there. I could tell every single person there truly cared about our sweet pup :-)

mary owens

A+++++++++++ saved my little dogs life as we were leaving town. Very kind and professional staff. Took my calls all hours. Thank you so much. Well worth the hour and a half drive. Highly recommend.

Kyle Stevens

Had to take my pup at 1:30 am and everyone was wonderful! Great service. They show they truly care about you and your animals!

NICKEL & DIME EVERY PENNY! First let me say that Animal Emergency DOES HELP YOU during an emergency situation and staff is very nice however know that it's all about THE MONEY! Know that you will be charged for even the littlest thing and will be the most likely highest vet bill of your pet's lifetime. They demand $500 just to be seen, then before starting treatment require signing forms and more money and then give you a total estimate that you must sign before leaving. Yes they made sure to spend every penny of that estimate!!! Although I am grateful for the kindness of most of the staff ...CHARGING AN EXAM / DOCTORS FEE EACH TIME A NEW VET COMES ON STAFF IS ABSURD, you are paying top dollar for emergency hospitalization care and charged each time a different doctor checks on your pet while it's hospitalized !!!??? ABSURD!! Charging for heating blankets, blood pressure checks, etc should be part of hospitalization that you are paying top dollar for but every little thing is charged for ...ABSURD! 36 hours of hospitalization with the only issue of stabilizing my pet with no diagnosis $2100.00. Yes every penny of the estimate!!! I think the only thing I wasn't charged for was cotton balls. If you don't believe it's not only all about the money , when you come to pick up your pet THE BILL HAS TO BE PAID FIRST before they will allow you to see your pet and receive aftercare instructions . I think the reason the doors always seem to be locked is so folks don't run out with their pet before paying the bill. They treat clients and pets like HOSTAGES, they help you BUT IT'S REALLY ALL ABOUT MONEY ! And no, no one calls to check in your pet afterwards... MONEY , MONEY, MONEY!

narcissa clink

Be prepared to wait 6 to 8 plus hours for stiches. As people come and go who was there after you get there. No info on how your pet is between those hours. They charged 2 times the amount they quoted. The vet who saw us was a jerk.

Constance Paras

Compassionate and caring staff. I had to make a very difficult decision in the middle of the night and I could not have asked for a better Veterinarian who took the time to talk with me and reassure me during the process. The entire staff was amazing.

rissa robinson

Staff was incredibly friendly. Very professional, knowledgeable, and straight forward. My puppy felt incredibly comfortable and we felt very safe we were leaving him in good hands. The diagnosis and treatment was spot on and we were able to leave the same day with a much healthier happier puppy!

Kellie Hudgens

My family and I can’t say enough wonderful things about this vet office. They were so kind and loving toward our sweet Gabby. Great service and knowledgeable staff.

Tanya J

Maxed out two credit cards just trying to get my dog some help. This place is a racket if I have ever seen one. I understand the need for an "Emergency" clinic and was glad they could watch my dog for the evening in his time of need but the price that came along with the service was an absolute joke.

Julie Radachy

The veterinary staff here are top notch! The veterinarians and vet technicians were very thorough in explaining the treatments for my dog who had to be hospitalized, and they were very patient and kind to him during his stay. I loved that I was able to visit my boy while he was in the hospital, too, and receive phone updates when I couldn't be there in person. While I don't want to visit here again (I'd much rather have my pets stay healthy!), I wouldn't hesitate to bring my pets to them again. I know that they'll be in good hands!

Ross Eison

I can't say anything more important than they saved my dog's life. Going in, Dr. Hodgson was clear that my dog's chances were 50/50, but within a few hours, Dr. Rutherford called to personally tell me surgery had gone well. Many, many thanks for saving my best friend.

Kim Foresha

Love this place and staff. Very caring. Vets we're awesome!

Mhalbert

The staff at Animal Emergency were amazing! This was our first time visiting and they took such great care of my sweet little girl when she needed it the most! They provided both me and my girl great comfort. I walked away tonight knowing that if ever there was emergency with her in the future, I will bring her here every time! Thank you so much for the exceptional care!

Corinne Mitchell

Staffed with caring people who were kind to the animals and their humans.

Leslie Works

Great care for my dog when a fishing hook was lodged in her paw

Katelyn Schnell

Great staff, very clean, professional & caring. They were very patient with both of us also. Highly recommend for middle of the night emergencies. The fee just to be seen is $95, so assess the injury yourself the best you can, to judge if it can wait until their normal vet opens.

Amber Roberson

This place is awesome. Being open 24-7 made them a great place for my sick kitty. They had anytime visiting hours so I could visit with my pet. The staff was kind and helpful throughout my cats stay. They are knowledgeable and answer questions throughly and are very good with calling you back.

Buffy Clark

They were very nice and helped my fur baby but pricey. In case of emergency they were awesome and very informative

Sri Naidnur

They saved my dog. I was so happy that my dog was under their care. Dr. P and Dr. L were amazing. Thanks to the whole team.

JUST JAKE

Quoted me $4,000 - $7,000 for a surgery that our other Vet said was not necessary.... Staff was kind and helpful but this place is making money hand over fist playing on peoples attachment to their animals. My dog went under the knife at another facility (based on Dr. Cohen's) diagnosis might I add for less than $1,000 only to find out that the surgery was a GROSS misdiagnosis. Unless you you have money to throw away or a serious emergency DON'T GO HERE.

Caitlin Hoch

Brought my dog in at 10:30am on Sunday morning with a laceration to his leg that went down to the muscle. It took them just about 2 hours to even look at him. After they finally did look at him and determined he needed stitches they said it would be a few hours until they could fix it. It is now 7pm on Sunday and they still haven't seen him. They have had him sitting in a cage for 7 hours with a hole in his leg and no attention, no pain meds and I don't know if they even have him water or pet him out to the bathroom. After several phone calls and no information I came back to the vet to check on my dog and ask to wait with the dog but they won't bring him to me. I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. I will NEVER bring another pet to this place ever again. They don't have any method of triage that makes sense. They don't call in other vets when needed and they don't care about my pet that is clearly suffering. I feel so let down and ignored. I can't imagine what my dog has been going through today and will never never never trust this place with a member of my family. DO NOT COME HERE WITH A REAL EMERGENCY. THEY DON'T CARE!

Robert Rotar

We had an excellent experience at your facility. The staff was very friendly and caring. You can tell that they love animals. The doctors were very thorough and explained everything in detail. Although the prognosis for our dog is not good we at least know what’s going on with him. Thank you to everyone for being so kind, empathetic, and caring.

Andrew Page

Great place, friendly staff and the Doctor's keep you informed

Ismael Felipe

Great service, friendly staff if a bit pricey. Nice that they were open 24/7 as I had to take my dog late evening.

Stephen Kerr

The staff is so friendly and understanding. They help you through every step.

Yami Suarez

I would not bring a goldfish to this place. Horrible cold hearted staff. They are there only for money. They don't care about pets, or the suffering owners. They made a hurtful situation even worse for us. If I could give this place a "0" I would. Please don't bring your pets here.

Heather Shubert

I love this place for many reason. The fact that my dog will never be left alone when she is sick is so comforting. Also their availability to talk with me any time i call is incredible and it never takes long to have the tech or doctor on the phone. It isn't cheap of course, but having that constant care for My dogs is priceless.

Sandi Foust

Katie was seen rather quickly. They were prepared to take care of all of her needs. A physical exam, xrays, blood-work, ultrasound was completed. The most impressive thing was the doctor took the time to explain all the findings and all of the treatment options. We will definitely go back there is the need arises.

Jody Wheeler

Highly proficient, professional and sensitive staff. I'm so glad that they are nearby.

Kathy Keiser Boullie

The staff was amazing - from the moment they saw me struggling to get my sweet dog Blue in. He was suffering and I was heartbroken. They were professional yet so compassionate. Absolutely wonderful place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Gabriel C-E

It is expensive to go here I believe $125 to walk in the door and have them just look but keep this in mind. If you're animal is bleeding or crying after a long day of work and your vet is closed do you really want to take the chance and have them possibly dead by the morning. I sure don't, so even if the cost is high I will always take my pets here in a time of EMERGENCY.

Kimberly Webb

We had an emergency late at night with our baby and The girls that worked 3rd shift were super sweet and very caring. I had to have my little chiuawaha put to sleep due to his health condition and they were so understanding and patient with myself and family. They let us take all the time we needed with him and took really good care of our little Buddy! I appreciate them and Thank them so much for everything they did for him and us. I wont forget them and if would take our other animals back there. Kimberly

Mary Gilmartin

Your Doctors & Staff is very professional, knowledgeable and very loving. Dr. Rutherford, Dr Cohen and Lillie, Coco made a speedy recovery with your help. Your Team is #1 in choice when it comes to Animal Emergency & Specialty. Thanks for all your help in helping my sweet yorkie. The Gilmartin’s

Kristi Jones

I can't say enough about the staff and Dr.'s that work here. They were so very concerned and nice during a very scary experience. I left my baby in good hands and had a very positive outcome.

Kim Blizzard

On one of the busiest weekends of the year for animal emergencies, we received the most excellent attention and care. Not just the medical service, but attention to our needs also - facetime with the kitten after we left, and tons of reassurance that he was being looked after and his progress. Dr. Stone and Victoria (sorry, I didn't get last name) were extremely helpful, and Ranae Parker went above and beyond to make sure the little guy was taken care of and that we knew he was getting loved and the best possible care. We would not hesitate to go back to AE&SC and highly recommend them to others.

Rob H

They kept my dog alive , girl up front was very caring and cute. Lori was her name. I will come here for all my animal needs in the future

Kurt DeKuehn

On March 9, 2019 my small dog was acting lethargic and not typical. I took her to Maryville Animal Hospital where she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia. She was started on immunosuppressive therapy. At first there was a posituve response and platelet count came up; however, by the 3rd day it dropped significantly and we're referred to Dr Morre at Animal Emergency center in Knoxville. I called first thing Monday morning explained the situation that Dr Walker called the day before and let the staff know we'd need to be worked in since my dogs platelet levels were critical. The front desk alerted Vivian one of the Technicians who spoke with me. I explained the situation and she asked if we could come in at 1:30p.m. I told her we'd prefer to come in asap. She was gracious and said to come in now which was 0815 and they'd work us into their schedule. My wife and I left Maryville and arrived at the hospital at 0915. We were greeted, filled out some paper work and put into an exam room. After waiting a bit Renea a technician came in and wanted to make sure we're alright and that Desirea wasn't in need for critical care and was stable. She apologized for the wait explaining it had been a crazy start to the day with several emergencies. Renea was very kind and so caring which really comforted us during this time of stress. A little while later Vivian came in introducing herself and did a history in regard to our current situation. She was very professional an thorough as well. By around 12:00p.m. Dr Morre came in and discussed the situation and course of action and treatment options. We were very impressed with the level of expertise and kindness. All diagnostics, tests, and chemo were done that day and by 4:00p.m. we were in our way home. I recieved communication from Vivian and Dr Morre checking Desireas status and informing me of test results. Day 2 post chemo Desirea got sick and couldn't hold food down so I called and spoke with Vivian. She spoke with the doctor and called my vet with a script for anti nausea medication right away. She gave me instruction and told me to call with any concerns or updates. I've been an RN for 20+ years and have to say the level of care, and professionalism we experienced coupled with empathy is so appreciated. I would recommend this facility hands down to anyone in need of emergency care.

Julie Antosz

My dog had the best care possible, all very nice and caring. The price was very high almost like a doctor for people,so at one point I had to stop with the testing as I could not afford it,the doctor did tell me about a product that might help control bleeding. We took him home and ordered the med and it worked,!! I was very happy ,but even today no doctor really knows why the bleeding started or stopped. He is doing great so far.

Nancy Laws

Went in with my bleeding, injured dog...they took him right back - no questions asked. I have taken my dog to a vet to get nails clipped and they want to know if he's had his shots before they'll touch him...this was nice:) Worked with my financial situation to get his care to the best of my ability. Caring and concerned people...plus the place was impeccably clean!

Maya Cabrera

I have unfortunately had to rush TWO pets here now, but, each time I have it really is a great hospital experience for what it can be. The first time I had to put my dog down and they were very understanding and talked price up front made it quick and gave me my time with my baby. The second time fortunately my baby was ok but again, thoughtful, respectful kind staff and their prices really are reasonable for an ER, I always tell friends and people in general about them as a back up in case of anything!

Michael Blizzard

We have been to the AE&SC many times over the years, and have always had the best care for our fur family. Our most recent experience resulted in hospitalization for our foster kitten. Dr. Stone was thorough, and vet techs Victoria and Ranae did everything possible to assure us we were getting the best care. Ranae even FaceTimed with us in the night so we could see how our baby was doing. We have great confidence in the care that both the animals and the parents receive.

shari monroe swift

Horrible! They thermal burned my dog! We have all the evidence we need to proceed in court. The law is intolerant of deceit and falsifying testimony to fit the current situation. Jeff Phillips and the Vet will be accountable. There is 15 graphic pictures of what was done to repair my dog! I have had the documentation reviewed by other Vets at University of Tennessee. All phone calls recorded as well and an e mail from MR. Phillips full of unsubstantiated information. I backed my case with actual proof! I was refused service after her surgery. They referred me back to my own vet. When Mr. Phillips contacted me to evaluate my dog she was in surgery at University of Tennessee . Se continues with care there as of today. No one in there right mind would bring a dog back after they harmed her. See you in court Sir!

L

Fantastic group of emergency vets and vet specialists. Very thankful to the oncology department for everything they are doing for my baby!

The people there were very friendly, they took our dog back to be examined very fast. The Vet we saw was very friendly. Cost was very low. Thank you all very much.

David Mills

Don't go to this location if you want your dogs wounds stitched up. They put me in a room and had me wait for almost 3 hours before i walked out the door. I have a tiny toy poodle and she got into a scrap with a pit bull. There was a huge chunk of her neck missing and they had me fill out paper work and wait in a room with no reassurance whatsoever. If your pet is in a critical condition and needs a simple stitch then trust me, go elsewhere.

Craig Hutto

Please do not take your pet to this place if you care about them at all! Thankfully, my incredibly negative experience on the phone prevented me from taking my precious dog to this place. I was so astounded by the complete lack of compassion, concern, knowledge and listening skills of the lady who answered the phone on both of my call's that I neglected to get her name. My pet is in severe pain. Her hip joint needs to be placed back in the socket and she will likely need CCL surgery or whatever this facility chooses to call it. I clearly and concisely asked simple questions but could not get any straight answers from this person who answered the phone. I placed my first call to set an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon while I was still at my vet's office, as they must make a referral. Now I must start the process over. I do not have the time or space here to provide specific details of both conversations but just know that the level of incompetency surpassed my belief. When time permits, I plan to further research this facility and do anything I can to have this business shut down permanently!

Angela Rao-Brown

I have had to use this facility for afterhours care for all three of my pets. (They never get sick during our regular vet's hours!) Although at times they are very busy and the wait can be long, it is obvious that critical emergencies out rank other issues. The staff is always caring and take good care of our pets. I'm glad they're always there when we need them.

Angi Miller

Have had nothing but good experiences here except for them performing labs without letting us know the cost before hand. Just make sure you ask for every step they plan to take with your pet as well as the cost so you are not in shock at check out. Other than that I would recommend this place to everyone. Addendum: Animal Emergency Vet responded to my review with an apology and said it is their policy to make all charges known before doing any labs, etc and will address the issue. I was very impressed that they took the time to respond. Very pleased with the care given to my dog.

I'm writing this as I sit in an exam room. Where I've been for almost 3 hours while my dog defecates blood and throws up about every 5 minutes. No one seems to care. I called ahead to make sure he could he seen immediately and was told to come on in because they're slow. I arrived at 12:18, it is not 3:01 and they have only gotten my dogs weight and temp. I would go somewhere else if he could ride in the car but at this point I'm stuck here. Good to know no one is alarmed by his condition except me though. Don't make the same mistake I did. There are 3 other emergency vets in Knoxville, definitely go to one of them, this vet could give 2 craps about your pet. Edited to add one star. They finally took my dog back to see the vet at 5 am, four and a half hours after we got there. And the vet informed me that nobody that I spoke to told her that my dog had gotten worse Reponse to the reply below. At no point was my dog taken for radiographs (AT ALL) or bloodwork, before 3:01, as the timestamp on my review indicates. I apologize you looked at the wrong records. My dog was not seen, or bloodwork done until almost 4am, I look forward to these improvements you mention. having a sick dog is stressful enough, without being ignored; specifically if you are diagnosing the dog without seeing him (if he was diagnosed an hour before the vet saw him) and not bothering to tell the owner.

I had all but forgotten the name of this place. Kind of wish I would have. A while ago a had a pet fancy hooded rat. His name was Rod. We had 4 great years together and his quality of life began to slip. Hip dysplasia and an all around struggle to care for his needs. After my shift I came home to find his back legs were unusable. This broke my heart and I prepared to say my goodbyes to my companion. I called this establishment to verify if I could pay with a credit card for Rod to be euthanized. They essentially told me "no problem". I make a thirty mile drive at 1am all the while saying goodbye to my friend. I show up they explain to me the procedure. I fill out all necessary paperwork and they tell me we cant except your WIFES credit card because I'm not her! Are you serious?!?! Never EVER have my wife or I had our credit card refused when either of us use it at ANY establishment. So after a lot of bad noise from the receptionist who all the while was talking over me with her rested and emotionless face, I left with my dying companion. More traumatized than I already was. Do your companions a solid and stay away from this place. They will thank you.

Emergency services are never expected to be cheap so I am happy to say the bill from our unexpected visit wasn't terrible. My bulldog had an allergic reaction to a bite of some kind and they took quick, excellent and loving care of her...and me ;-)

Bailey The Pug

Incredible. Dr. went over everything thoroughly. Staff was great.

Steph Jackson

Took my mom's baby

Elizabeth Vancleave

Such wonderful, caring, gentle staff. They really take good care of their fury patients. The vets and techs are the best. Prices are great too, but most importantly they treat the animals excellent with the best medical care around.

Mark Hale

They are very nice and caring people. They treated my cat wonderfully and they took the time to explain what happened, how he was progressing and how to care for him at home. Nothing was rushed and I felt that I had their undivided attention.

adriane s

Brought my dog here late one night because she was unable to jump and was in pain. The girls at reception desk were friendly and Dr. Phipps was the best! You want to feel like someone really cares about your dog and they do here. I loved Dr. Phipps’ bubbly personality and how she handled my baby. I’m glad this place is available for emergencies.

Rod Gallaher

They were very nice, professional and have a real love for animals. My Yorkie is on the mend.

Rebecca Ratledge

Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. And the cost was much less than I expected.

Sandi Langston

The only complaint I have is that they are not closer to where we live. This is an exceptional place for the care of our pets when an emergency occurs or major surgery is required. The entire staff are caring people. Unfortunately we have had to use their services several times, and their service is always excellent.

Kristin Parish

Animal Emergency has saved my cat who has small cell lymphoma’s life!! Dr. Phillips and the staff there are the best, and I would recommend them to anyone. So thorough, and caring, and experts at what they do!

Katherine Chapman

Very clean very nice employees and doctors.

Alex Farmer

Staff was very friendly but my satisfaction ends there. I understand its an emergency vet, so they can charge what they wish. However, the amount they charged was outrageous for no more than they did. After filling out entry paperwork, a vet student took the story and dogs temperature, then a vet came in and said she recommends x-rays but that she cant say with any certainty that they will be accurate unless my dog swallowed metal. After x-rays, she said she was concerned and hospitalization was an option because there is a chance of blockage but that it could also just be gas. If I just wanted a guess, I would have asked the weatherman. I paid way too much to walk away with no more knowledge than I had when I went in and no more peace of mind.

Brae Boring

My dog Bella ate grapes and I chose to take her in to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful and caring. The vet that worked with us really took her time to explain the lack of knowledge on the toxicity of grapes with dogs. One dog can eat one grape and die from renal failure while another dog can eat a bag full of grapes and be fine. I chose to leave my fur baby for 48 hours so that we could catch any issues quickly. I was called twice a day with updates and everyone was always very understanding and helpful when I called for additional updates. I highly recommend Animal Emergency & Specialty Center if you need a place that is highly qualified to give your pet the emergency medicine that they need.

Jack O'Hearn

Have used this several times for off hours emergencies as well as detailed work ups and surgery. Always felt well served.

Kim Pair

We were traveling when our Doberman became extremely ill I used Google maps to locate an emergency vet nearby. The staff and vet here were fabulous! They treated our dog as a beloved family member. Treatment was very reasonably priced and handled as quickly as possible which got us back on the road with a much healthier happy dog.

Laurel Bryson

My dog was swollen facially and had coughing fits. She started getting hoarse and I worried that she would start having trouble breathing. These folks saw her quickly and gave her medication as soon as they knew what she could handle safely. I hope never to see them again but I know if my dogs are in danger, they could be in no better hands.

britt guess

This is hands down one of the best veterinary hospitals in the area. The staff is very kind and considerate. The facility ours clean and comfortable. And being one of the only 24 hour veterinary facilities in the area, they are always there when you need them. I highly recommend them and will defiantly be returning!

Janice Reagan

Outstanding experience at the Animal Emergency & Specialty Center. They are prompt, organized, efficient and they explained everything well to me. The staff was friendly and courteous. Definitely the setting you want when you are scared and concerned about your pet.

Mike Winter

Great staff, very friendly and they know what they're doing.

J. W.

My Chihuahua spent a night in ICU here because his regular vet completely dropped the ball on what turned out to be a life threatening case of pancreatitis. The staff were professional and caring and took excellent care of him and he was doing much better in less than 24 hours. He even smelled like perfume on his neck when I brought him home because someone was obviously loving on him while he was there. Like someone else pointed out it's not cheap, but it was worth every penny and I'd bring him here again in a heartbeat.

Marissa Ilgenfritz

Thank you for taking care of our baby late after our vet had closed. You all are so compassionate, knowledgable , and very reasonably priced. We figured ER visit would be in the thousands, but it was only about $150 for her meds and exam. Highly recommend this place!!

Becky C

I brought my border collie here on a Saturday night after she got into a big stash of chocolate and ate waaay too much of it. Everyone on staff was so kind and they took good care of my dog, who recovered completely. They acted quickly, knowing there was potential for chocolate toxicity, and they kept me updated on her status until we were released with follow up care instructions. The cost was about what I expected for pet emergency care, and I would definitely use this clinic again for a pet emergency at night or on the weekend!

Ben Pieslak

Animal emergency & specialty-Knoxville is the best animal hospital around Knoxville! My wife and I got our dog from Petland in Knoxville on Friday . Petland didn’t tell us our dog was sick. Saturday night our dog was in bad shape and we took him to the Animal emergency& specialty center in Knoxville. They were so kind and helpful! They gave us the correct treatment for our dog and saved his life!! We are forever grateful to the staff at Animal Emergency!!!

Jen Collins

I had to rush my dog to Concord because she had a fever of 105.7 and got to talk to the vet tech. And she was showing me that it would be 317.00 for blood work and medicine or 750.00 for Xrays and fecal and blood work and meds. I didn't have 750.00 so I said to do the blood work and I asked for a paper copy of blood work to take to my vet the next day and the vet tech said that's fine they will bring it out to the lobby when ready. So in the lobby they took my paymet and brought my dog out to me. So I got my sick dog and sat in the waiting room. Then the receptionist ask me what I was waiting for. I told her the hard copy of blood work. Then she looked at some papers and told me they didn't do blood work and still charged me 317.00 I'll never go there again.

MindLikeBouyancy

First I would like to commend the staff here, they were, as stated before, on their game. I came into the clinic last night around midnight, and without hesitation the began comforting my little buddy ( 2 year old male cat) and making sure to take him away from the lobby and get him in the back which may not seem like anything to some people, but they are very caring and gentle with the pets. This place is clean and in top notch and there waiting lobby is comfy and inviting! The next thing I see with some of these reviews are concerns with the costs, as animal owners it is our responsibly financially, Emotionally, and physically to take care of these animals and get the treatment they need and deserve. Like humans, we all go through times where we need medical treatment asap. And yes, it cost money. However money is replaceable and animals are not. If you complain about the cost of caring for an animal then you shouldn't own one. If your animal needs medical attention dont hesitate as it could worsen and make recovery even harder. And if you're in this area, make no mistake that these are some of the best people in the area in the time of emergent care. I would give more stars if i could. Great job guys.

Naomi Furnald

Very happy. Although I would of liked to of spoken to the vet my self and not just the vet teks.

tiffany Coy

They we very quick to take my cat in while I filled out paperwork as my cat was very congested and mouth breathing. The staff was so great and the Dr was too, very knowledgeable and competent. The cost was a bit higher but this s an emergency animal hospital and it was a Sunday evening, so the cost was not out of line. I love my cat and as any caring pet owner should see it, health care should be provided to them as needed no matter what. I am thankful that they were there, my cat wouldn't have made it until Monday morning when his normal vet opened.

Dilan Taylor

The staff and DVM were very kind, patient, and thorough in explaining the treatment and care my dog Luna needed after being attacked by another dog. They took her back and got her stitched up with a drain placement and I was able to pick her back up that night, only a couple hours later. The tech that brought her out was wonderful and answered all of the questions I had and made it easy to understand what I would have to do to care for her healing wounds and what signs of trouble i should look for. I did end up having to spend a little more money than the low end of my estimate because they did not have the cheaper version of a drug Luna needed in stock, but in the grand scheme of things that is a minor inconvenience. I would recommend this place to anyone with an after hours pet emergency.

Brad Hebert

They did a lot of good things for my dog, and I was happy with the courtesy and treatment. However, they reached a point where they didn't know what to do and my dog almost died. I took my dog to UT Vet. At UT, they were able to diagnose further and give better treatment. My dog went from death's door to a near full recovery at UT. My dog had a difficult condition. I'm not upset that Animal ER & Specialty couldn't do more. I am only one example, but I wanted to share. The lesson I learned was that it's always worth a shot to keep trying different doctors.

Becca Putvinski

My puppy was stepped on by one of our horses this week and I had no idea what to do or where to go. I called my vet's cell and she recommended this place to me. I called on our way and told them we were coming and when we walked in they remembered who I was. The took our puppy back and examined her while I started to fill out paperwork. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and compassionate. The vet came in to talk to us and told us how the exam went. Our girl looked pretty good and was really just in pain. She offered to do xrays to ensure nothing was broken but felt confident she was okay. She told us xrays would require her to be put under since it was her head and that would be more expensive and risky since she is so young. We could also leave her overnight for observation if we wanted. All of our options and their expenses were laid out nice and clearly. We decided to take her home and we given instructions on what to look for and how often to check on her. The vet tech answered all my questions and they gave her pain meds and sent us home with extra. The space is nice, well lit, but very comfortable. I really like the set up and how the exam rooms are right off the main waiting area. There were comfortable places to sit and a movie playing on TV. It is a very respectable place and I would go back in a heartbeat if we ever have any other emergencies.

hal hoyt

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The vet knew what she was doing and helped our elderly cat. The cost was very reasonable.

I brought my dog to the hospital 12-2-17. He was having multiple seizures, it was around 300 am our normal veterinary clinic was closed. And I’m so glad that they where. For months I have been trying to figure out what was wrong with my dog. I had gone to my dogs primary veterinarian that I have always taken him to and after feeling like I was getting general answers but no help, I went to another clinic to get a second opinion but got the same we just have to wait and see. Well Saturday morning I saw the problem and the staff at this clinic saw the problem and they where Amazing thank you Alex and Dr. Liles and Dr. Stone you guys are rock stars . Everything I had read on line but was not sure about they confirmed. They kept him over night and got him stable and prescribed him medication he most likely should have already been on months ago. Unfortunately it was too late and I had to bring my dog back and again Alex and Dr. Stone took him to the back right away and gave him amazing care. But nonetheless Jack passed away. By no means is this a bad review this team did everything they could to help my dog and I’m so grateful for you guys. I wish I would have come to you first. Thank you for all your help.

Keith Whyte

The people here are fantastic.

Stef S

I brought my kitty here for answers to his chronic rhinitis. Dr. Morre was great and very understanding about my lack of funds to pay for everything that could be done for him and even went above and beyond for me despite this. The staff were very nice and commented on how sweet Jude was so I knew he was being well taken care of back there. Overall it was a good experience and I got some answers that I was looking for!

linda mclin

They did a great job with Annie's surgery

Kathleen Keen

My daughter and I took her dog in a bit over a week ago, and though our outcome was poor at no time did we feel like the entire office staff, techs, or vets were not sincere, compassionate, and genuine towards Cas and our feelings. Though heartbroken we never felt pressured, or rushed, or pushed into "wishful hoping" unnecessary expensive procedures. We were sitting on the floor with him, and each person came down to our level with him while talking to us about each forward step while giving us all the time before, during, and after that we needed. Though I hope to never have reason to visit this clinic again I would recommend it, and thank the current entire staff for their professionalism.

My Babygirl took a turn for the worst the day before Christmas. My regular Veterinarian's office was closed for the holidays. And I have used them in the past. I was able to get a answer to what was going on. Unfortunately, she had to be put to sleep that day. They were so compassionate and comforting to me that I was so grateful for that. They made my decision very easy and helped me make a educated decision and compassionate decision. She deserved that because she was a part of my family for 14.5 years. Thank you Dr. Noe and especially Alex for your support and concern on that day. I truly appreciate your help and giving me the opportunity to spend time with her. And the you handled her remains at the end. ❤

Brenda Monroe

I had a hard decision to make today. I want to thank Lori for showing compassion and helping me through the process. I want to thank the Vet for coming in and meeting with me and the tech for helping us. It’s hard to loose a pet. I just want to thank them for helping me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I arrived at 2 a.m. Saturday with our 2-year-old dog with coonhound paralysis. The place was clean, and the staff was compassionate and understanding. They spent a lot of time discussing her condition and prognosis with us, over the phone and in person. When we picked her up, they even took the time to teach us physical therapy for her condition. I loved how the ICU nurses took ownership of her and welcomed us to call for an update any time, day or night. We were never in the dark about how she was doing. Even though we live over an hour away, this will be our go-to vet for any future emergencies. Which means we hope we never see you again, but thank you, Victoria, Linda, Dr. Liles, and Dr. Rutherford (and others whose names I might not remember!) for helping Clover.

Carmen Marie

Dr Galemore and Dr Morré are the best specialists in my opinion. They have been more than helpful since my sweet pup was diagnosed with diabetes in May. They both are very thorough and take the time to answer all your questions. Everyone - front desk, techs, and vets - are so kind and compassionate. Definitely recommend taking your pets to this facility.

Jan Willis

The entire staff was kind, efficient, and accommodating in treating our dramatic beagle hound, Buster. Thank you!

Edward Smith

The place was super the people were excellent unfortunately I had to put my dog down but they accommodated me in every way possible super super place

Deanna Lively

We had a true emergency at around midnight and rushed our dog in. The staff was amazing. They explained everything about any and all aspects of our dogs injury, gave us all the options and were so supportive. Our dog is recovering, we definitely owe the staff there a huge thanks for helping us in our time of distress.

Megan Gower

We had a dog that suffered from congestive heart failure and he suddenly collapsed on us a couple weeks ago. We rushed him in but sadly there wasn't anything that could be done. I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff here. They let us have time with him and they never once rushed us. They also walked us through making arrangements for him. On top of how wonderful they were with us, we received a wonderful card from them a few days ago. They made this process so much easier for us. I can't say enough nice things about them and highly recommend them.

Jeff Salyers

We took a stray cat in that had been in a fight with a dog. They saw us very quickly and gave affordable options to us to help the cat. They gave excellent treatment, got her patched up and got us out of there in a little over an hour.

Haley Smith

They were very helpful in a stressful and scary situation! We really appreciated how quickly they saw our dog and answered our questions. If you have a pet emergency, I would recommend that you take your pet here.

Kimberly Foresha

This was my second visit (with a different pet) and the team was as friendly, caring and professional as my first visit! They took great care of my pup and assured me she was fine and would mend (she injured her leg, thought it was broken). They treated me with courtesy and respect, asked several times if there was anything else they could help with, and best of all; the bill was a lot lower than I expected! Color me happy all the way around!

Niki Weaver

Great place if you have a pet emergency.

Jillian Bornmann

Very helpful and knowledgeable. They take time to listen to concerns and answer questions.

Patricia Treadway

Dr. Jeff Phillips, and staff, have been so caring and helpful to our furbaby, Talley. 11 months ago her vet, in Johnson City, referred her to the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center for a suspected tumor on her pancreas. She had emergency surgery that verified it and has been seeing Dr. Phillips regularly since then. She is holding her own and has returned to being her playful, bossy self. This is her favorite place to sleep, or watch the neighbors.

Linda Tipton

I so appreciate this Veterinary office. They have guided me through some very difficult waters with my beloved pet. They did so with compassion and great expertise. Dr Phillip, Dr Hanby and Dr Bohling are outstanding professionals. I give them and this office nothing but the best review.

Joshua Barker

I've been here twice after 8 O'clock in the last 3 or 4 months for my dog. Everyone has been super nice and the wait times were not bad at all both times. Last time I was there we basically walked in and saw a vet right away.

Tiffany Blair

I know that a common complaint is the expense of this place, and I also understand that places need to make $$. However, $220. for you to take my cat's temperature, listen to to her heartbeat, give her an injection for nausea and IV fluids is crazy. We left with our cat (still sick)because I could not afford the $600. they wanted for two different angles of xrays of her stomach for a possible blockage (she was showing no signs of a blockage), and the CBC, comprehensive panel......and electrolyte bloodwork. Ok let me just say, electrolytes are included in a comprehensive panel, so that should not have been an additional test. When I told them this was a little out of our range I was told that our cat would now be treated as an outpatient. They should have offered an alternative such as ok let's start with some less expensive bloodwork such as a hemogram and a basic metabolic panel and we can go from there. Instead I left with $220. less and no help for my cat.

Ellyn Fulton

They were very considerate & helpful at explaining everything, making sure we felt like we knew what was happening to our pup! They were very efficient & so kind!

Wulf Thorsson

Great place and the people care about all the animals

Leah Hunter

I would give the Center more stars if available. They were there when we needed them for our sweet Greyhound, and have taken such good care of her. The staff blew me away with their care and professionalism, even at midnight when I would have expected tired and sub-par service. Hopefully I'll never need to use their services again for a pet emergency, but if the time comes, I won't go anywhere else. Animal Emergency & Specialty Center is amazing.
