Heartland has been amazing to me and my pets. I recently had to put my dog to sleep due to health issues. This was an extremely hard decision for me and they helped me feel that I was doing the right thing. They were very respectful to her and myself. I was given all of the time I needed with her during and after the process. They showed compassion the whole time.

To be clear I feel like my dog was well taken care of. Ace was running in my trees and got caught on some wire and got a pretty deep cut across the inside of his rear leg. It was evening and its not the first time he has had a deep cut and I own multiple other dogs so this kind of injury is nothing I'm not familiar with. I took care of him through the night and living out of town called in the AM to get him in for some stiches. Upon arrival at Heartland I met with a vet tech whom I told specifically they would not need anesthesia, he is a working dog and has a high pain tolerance. Just needs some stiches and antibiotics. I left him there and went to work to return at lunch to pick him up. When I got there I had a $160 bill to which I was confused because I specifically stated and declined to sign the form to have my dog put under anesthesia. Don't get me wrong I think they did what "they" thought they needed to do however I was not in the situation to spend that money, which I had, but didn't really alot toward this "procedure" as they turned it into. If I personally had a cut like this I'm certain a medical professional would sew me up and send me out the door. Simply put as a first time customer at this vet I felt I had let them know what I needed to have to happen as far as care for my dog, felt like we were in agreement about it, discussed I needed things to be done on a certain budget, and than they just did whatever they wanted, and billed me for it on the backside. Routine vet bills are expensive enough let alone unplanned ones. Not only did I not receive a call before the "procedure" that I didn't authorize took place. It was by far above and beyond what was needed given the circumstances. Basically disappointed something that was simple, not routine, but certainly easily done for a vet, turned into some sort of trauma event which is not the reality. Had they not wanted to do it I could have went somewhere else. Receptionist basically rolled her eyes when I questioned the bill and the vet was out so this seems to be the only place to vent my frustrations. Ace is doing well and he will be back to running down birds and doing other outstanding things in the near future.

The woman veterinarian is excellent. The man didn't even touch my dogs for their yearly checkup aside from a small bump on one of my dogs that I asked about. Edited: 8/20/18 Changed to 5 star because there was a misunderstanding with reception that caused the 4-star review above. I spoke with Dr. Jacci, who took the time to apologize, clear up the misunderstanding, and answer some additional questions of mine. Thank you!

Took my cat in to get fixed, he came back groggy and in good health, I was very happy with the results. He has been better behaved and happier, and more fun to have around since I took him.

The vets at Heartland performed the wrong surgery on my young kitten. Without checking, the vet went ahead with the spaying of my cat, only to realize it was male. When I went to pick up my kitten, I was told that there were no complications with the surgery and everything went well - I made my payment and was on my way. I was home with my kitten for over an hour before I received a phone call from Heartland, saying that my cat was actually a male and this was realized only after they had begun the spaying surgery. When I asked why a licensed veterinarian would not check to confirm the surgery they were doing before doing it, a staff member blamed me for it. I also received this phone call, two minutes before they closed. After getting off of the phone, I was very upset and disappointed at the ACCIDENTAL surgery my kitten had to endure AND the horrific customer service I received. I sent an email, explaining why I was upset and saying I would like to speak to the vet. It has been 5 days since I sent the email and still have not received a message back or a phone call. Not once did staff or the vet apologize for the mistake they made. I would not recommend going here if you care about your animals.

Our yellow lab, Samson, got cut open by a barbed-wire fence on the Saturday of opening pheasant season. The staff at Heartland took the after-hours emergency call with pleasure and met us at the clinic within a half hour of my call. Lorien's love for animals was very obvious during our visit, and her seven sutures on Samson and explanation of recovery were perfect. Thank you Heartland and Lorien for taking care of our beloved hunting dog!

Excellent customer service. Treated my dog like one of their own. I had just rescued the dog and noticed some minor issues with being restrained. They were willing to take it slow and easy with him to avoid stress and aggression for him. Great to work with. Heartland Vet Clinic is exactly how all vet clinics should treat any client and pet that walks through the door.

Dr. Jacci is the best vet my 8.5 year old dog, Kahlua, and I have ever been to. My dog needed surgery and Dr. Jacci and helped me through my fears and treated my dog as if she were her own. If I have any concern, Dr. Jacci lets me come in and talks me through every question. Everytime we come to Dr. Jacci, Kahlua is excited to see her. I can't describe how thankful we are to Dr. Jacci and her crew!

My cat Rocky needed to be neutered and declawed. This Clinic took him in and took very good care of him. The surgeries were a success. For post-surgery care they sent home pain medication for Rocky for 2 days. He is doing very well. They take very good care of your Pets.

Ok for basic stuff. If you want an emergency visit, do not count on them. I brought in a pup with bloat after using them several times before. When I went in the office, front office lady went to back to ignore my despair and pup groaning in pain. Pup died in their office cause they were too busy doing a non emergency. Went back after that for a spay, stitches did not hold up after only 1 day, and was charged another full surgery price to redo their mess up.

I took my dog's body there to get cremated and they said it would take 3-5 days. I waited 3 weeks. i had three different ladies tell me three different stories. all lying. i had to call the service they go through to get the full story. the cremating service they went through didn't get a call to say that my dog was ready until the third week. i have no idea if they forgot or if they had a mess up at the vet. no one said sorry they just kept giving me different stories. it was very unsettling and disrespectful to my dog and myself.

I have gotta say I’m very disappointed with this vet. Our family dog named tinker was very very sick. And I had never seen anything like it it was a Monday and my mom tried to call and they just kept brushing her off. We finally got her in on Tuesday and they said they were pretty sure it was pancreatic titis. Because they did an ultrasound. So we went home and she was just so sick. Our poor little tinker started pooping out bloody spool. That followed wendsday at 6 in the morning my 15 year old sister found her dead in our bathroom with bloody spool everywhere. It was a very bad morning. The vet had diagnosed her wrong and what had happened was she ate a string and it wrapped around her intestines. And probably what made this whole situation even WORSE is that we wanted to get her cremated. And when my mom went to get the atupsy report at SDSU they said THEY DIDNT PUT THE ORDER IN TO SAVE HER ASHES. Like who gets someone cremated and than dosent even save the ashes? Yeah I know what a nightmare. I’m still overall upset and I really can’t forgive that vet. It was already to late to get her saved. Because tinker required very extensive surgery and it wasent guaranteed for her to live. I’m not saying it was exactly heartlands fault but I just think that they need to take there time with pets and not take in a lot at one time. Me and my whole family are still trying to recover from this very awful situation. Again no shade to the vet but maybe they need to just take there time. I wouldn’t wish what happend to our tinker would happen to anyone elses dog. But please keep an open mind. And do a background check on your vets.
