I really hope you can take your low reviews into consideration and educate your staff on the importance of good customer service. I had to ask staff their names and their positions - then still received rude replies. Most of your customers are going to be in a very vulnerable position as their loved ones are obviously not in good health --- please work on your empathy, bedside manner, and ability to communicate effectively with others. I understand you may be tired, work long days/nights - but we all do. Strive to be a place people want to take their pets - not a place we have to, as you're the only 24 hour option. I think not only would your customers be more satisfied, but maybe your staff's morale would improve as well.

Absolutely horrible clinic! Unfortunately, I had to put my dog down a month ago at this place. Like any vet clinic they give you the options of cremating and taking home the remains and also a paw print. Other places I have been to and heard about give you a nice wooden box with the remains and a ceramic paw print you can hang up or display. This place gave me my dogs remains in two cheap cardboard cylinders and a paw print on a piece of paper! Also, the paw print was so light you can barely make it out. Oh and the best part is they charged over $200 for these services!!! I am writing this with the hope of informing other people of what to expect if they unfortunately have to put a pet down at this establishment.

They were very kind and accommodating when we had to say goodbye to our best friend late one Saturday night. Thank you for not making something so difficult any harder. I was very pleased with the staff.

Took cat in because he'd hurt himself, front paw very obviously and visibly misaligned. Told them I thought it was dislocated, vet came in and examined and said it was likely just a major sprain and wouldn't need a splint. Lo and behold a week later I come in for a follow up, foot is STILL misaligned, finally got an xray and lo and behold my cat had broken part of his leg. They splinted it and by the time I got home he had removed the splint. Took him to a different vet and they splinted it and told me he had broken _both_ ulna and radius. Absolutely furious that the vet not only didn't treat my cat properly the first time, but misread the xray as well. Will not be coming back in the future.

Will let your pet die if you can't pay the $96 to walk in the door. These people aren't in it to help animals only line their pockets. A real pity they are the only place around.

It's pretty sad that a vet clinic cares more about money than an injured animal. My dog had broken his spine leaving his back legs completely paralyzed. I brought him to the Emergency Veterinarian Hospital on Saturday afternoon(December 23rd). The vet basically said there is nothing they can do for him. After completing all of the paperwork and agreeing to euthanize, the assistant told me I needed to pay the bill. I explained that my debit card has a $300 limit and that I could cover the remaining $400 shortly afterwards or when my bank opened on Tuesday (due to the banks being closed for the Christmas weekend) She then told me they would not proceed with the process until the full $700 was paid. Meaning my poor dog, who was extremely stressed and completely soaked from hyperventilating had to suffer for an additional 45 minutes so I could run to 2 different ATM's and withdraw cash to cover the rest of the bill. Where is the compassion?

Don’t go here if you can help it. This place is a joke. Went here on the weekend since options for other vet clinics are very limited otherwise I would’ve never wasted my time here. They only care about money not actually helping your animal. Paid $116 for an “exam” and taxes. Wanted to charge me $500 to have X-ray , blood work, etc. to see why my dog has been hacking.. When they performed an “exam” , it was done through my car window for 20 seconds. The vet tech literally looked in the window and said ok that’s all I need and then walked away. Didn’t actually look at her, or touch her.. didn’t give me time to get my dog out of the car to be examined, just looked through the window and called it good. Will never go here again and will be calling Tuesday to file a formal complaint.

Last month (November 2017) we brought our basset hound, Martha, to the hospital. It was a Saturday night, our regular vet was closed for the weekend, and we live in Spearfish. Unfortunately our sweet hound had ruptured a disc in her back and her hind end was paralyzed. The staff at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital very carefully and compassionately walked us through our options and then took amazing care of both Martha and us as we made the difficult decision to put her down. They gave us as much time with her as we needed, explained things clearly, allowed us to stay with her as long as we wanted (and through the whole process so she was never alone), gave us hugs when we were crying, and sent us a lovely card with her paw prints a few days later in the mail. These kind and caring people made a miserable experience better. I would recommend them for emergency veterinary care to anyone.

The vet and vet tech were very thorough and did a wonderful job treating my cat--and she can be very difficult. The visit was very expensive, but I was told upfront and over the phone the exact amount it would be to get her in after hours. I don't think a lot of people realize that ER vets are way more expensive due to the hours and their skill set. She had a puncture wound on her stomach and I couldn't tell how deep it was or what it was from--and she wouldn't let me touch it. I would recommend this emergency vet to anyone having a pet crisis. They actually saved my cat's life once when she was shot at point blank range with a pellet gun. They had the same professional, caring, and attention to detail attitude as they had before. We had to put our sweet dog down over Memorial weekend. Our vet was closed. In fact everyone was closed except the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. We walked into that hospital devastated to be saying goodbye to our dog. The loving people of the hospital were amazing! They sat on the floor with us while we wept with our dog. I couldn't believe their compassion. We love those people. If we can bring ourselves to love another dog, we will definitely choose the Emergency Veterinary Hospital as our new vet.

Gave my best friend about 5000 worth of false hope

Our dog ate a lethal dose of my blood pressure medicine on mother’s day Dr. Christenson pulled her through. We are ever so grateful.

They are heartless and don't care about animals only money place should be shut down

It appeared that our 7 pound dog had eaten a human pill. It took over an hour to get to Rapid City from the hills. Were seen immediately by a very caring vet, who researched the pill and made recommendations. Before the activated charcoal was administrated, a more detailed search found the missing pill and all was stopped. As a vacation traveler it is wonderful to find such a good animal clinic. To top every thing off, they wouldn't even charge us for the service. Thank You and God Bless you.

Paid $500 for them to tell me what I already knew. Half of that is for pain medicine but we could hear our dog screaming across the in another room in pain. The worst possible pet clinic ever...

Emily Boettcher

This clinic doesn't actually care about the animal, only the money.

We had a wonderful experience. They got us in right away when we got there, the vet seemed very knowledgeable, told us all our options and the approximate cost and took care of our puppy rt away! They let you know pretty much upfront what it will cost so there is no surprises!! They even called 2 days later and to follow up to make sure our Thor was doing good!!

I took my dog here yesterday and when I told them she was in a dog fight they immediately were under the impression I was euthanizing her? They didn’t even give me a treatment plan, just walked through the door and said so we’re euthanizing this one right? Also they wanted to charge me 800 dollars for wound cleaning, pain meds, antibiotics, and the vets 30 second “examination”. They have no empathy for anyone they just want your money.

Varroken

Almost double the price of other vets and half the quality. Care more about money than your dog or you.

My dog got bitten and, being a weekend, we had no choice but to take him to the Emergency Clinic. They charge over $400 to do stitches! My regular vet charges $185. We ended up getting the bite cleaned, antibiotics and pain med for almost $300. He didn't even get a cone! He won't leave it alone because it hurts and therefore he's still bleeding quite a bit. I'll take him to my regular vet to get him the help he needs. How am I going to pay for it since all my money in the world went to Animal Clinic? Good question. Thanks emergency clinic/animal clinic for money gouging and showing, once again, what you really care about.

Deborah Rankin

We had to put our 17 year old cat asleep. We never had to wait in the waiting room which gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. The staff was kind and sympathetic. I was worried when I read the reviews, but I don’t think the procedure could have gone any smoother for us. I’m grateful for them.

DONT GO HERE!!! Horrible place. I was there at 10 o’clock at night. I go out into the lobby screaming for people for 10 minutes to pay my bill. No one ever came out. Three people working. No one else there besides me. Now I have $102 bill and the manager won’t give me corporate phone number and a total dick. . DO NOT GO HERE. And they tried to scam me out of $950. I went to my vet The very next day and spent less than 100 to fix what was wrong with my dog

They are a horrible clinic to go to. All they care about is money and the bed side manner is horrible. I was in there last night with my dog and majority of the time we were there was spent waiting for someone to help us waiting in some back room. Our situation was time sensitive and they wasted a good 1-2 hours of our time forcing a plan on us that they only cared if it got paid. They refused to touch my dog until we were able to pay the amount. They refused to work a plan out with us. They did not care for the health of the animal. My dog required treatment ASAP and they danced around that fact. We had to leave our room to hunt down a Tech for 20 min who could help us when the conditions started to worsen. Do not go to this clinic!

Never take your animal here. Our cat had fluid built up in its stomach. Charged massive fee for surgery. No drain age tube, just an open incision . Told us to change gauze in 2 day. Opendo gauge and th here was 4 incisions in abdomen, intestinal will hanging out and no yube. Abdominal fluid shot across the room. We too our baby kitty back. And they said they would another animal I pray you choose another optionuthinize him. Or charge another 300 for surgery. Do We took him to lanothother bet. Who was absolutely mortified and the mutation he saw. The skin was falling off in chunks from all the incisions, the new vet saved him, and this terrible clinical altered the chart and kept trying to charge and admitted to no wrong doing even 2 days after surgery. And wanted to uthinize to cover up the mutatilation . Lawsuit is now involved. Please to save your baby's. Please stay away!

Paul Boettcher

This clinic only cares about money and not the animal. Was not willing to even give advice or thoughts on cat's condition without paying more $ (already paid close to $600). Staff seem nice enough but really don't care about animals.

Stewed about this for a long time. Treated my dog like garbage when I went. He's a very special needs dog with multiple disabilities. The first time we went they weren't great and condescendingly suggested we have him euthanized even though he is now doing well and has high life quality. Wouldn't have gone back to them, but it was needed to follow up.. They were having trouble with taking him in the back, and we requested to go with him to try and calm him down several times. They refused and instead 4 techs + a vet dragged him off, screaming and peeing himself. When they brought him back he had burst blood vessels in his eyes and was bleeding above one of his eyes, and panting heavily. He did get a bite record on this day, too, as he bit a vet tech (other person I was with saw the injury and claimed there was no blood, but there was a scratch-- I didn't see the injury myself and can't attest either way. He was very distraught and I wouldn't be surprised if he did bite hard enough to draw blood) . Made him scared of even getting in the car. Should point out that the next vet I went to used 1 vet and 1 tech to take care of him while allowing us nearby-- no dog screaming in fear, no peeing himself, no injury to either the dog or a vet tech. Remarkable what treating the dog and their owners respectfully can do.

The individuals that work at this veterinary hospital/clinic are kind, caring, supportive, on time, easy to work with and wonderful people! I have brought all my animals here since my very old (now deceased) dog Sophie fell and dislocated her hip at midnight. I admire and respect their entire team; from the front desk staff, to the technicians, the groomer and the veterinarians. I cannot recommend this place enough! ❤❤❤❤

Yvonne Cooper

Both our labs have made visits to this hospital. Both times the staff has been very caring and professional. I hope we don’t have to visit again, but if we do I am confident that our dogs will receive the best care possible.
