Drs. Serena and Nick Heig are amazing doctors. They are smart, sensitive and compassionate not just towards the patient, but the whole family as well. We are part time residents of the SD/WY area and think nothing of traveling an hour and a half one way just to have our fur babies cared for by Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital. For the time we are not in the area, they make themselves available to manage the care of our cats when they visit veterinarians in other areas. The staff are just as caring: they are professional, courteous and care for your pets in such a way that I have no second thoughts about leaving my pet for medical treatment. Thank you Dr. Serena and Dr. Nick for your special care of our kitties!

My family and I had an awful experience at this vet. Our dog was a patient there for awhile and I’m not sure why we kept going. Anytime there was something wrong with our dog dr. Nick heig never wanted to test anything. He would just give us antibiotics and hope it works. It never worked. Our dog was constantly sick and his last year of life he had a lot going on. We just had to put our dog down this week and it was a horrible experience. He was 14 and was sick and could hardly walk. Dr. Nick Heig walked in with a shot and pulled it out and euthanized our dog. He was not sentimental at all and after everything he just walked out. He never hooked our dog to an IV to help calm him or make him comfortable. He just injected the medication quick and walked out. Our dog was gasping for air at the end and we all think his death was painful and inhumane. I will NEVER recommend this veterinarian.

A Google review is a pretty small medium to express how awesome everyone at Canyon Lake Vet Hospital has been to my cats, and me and my wife, over the last few years since we moved back to Rapid City. The doctors and staff know what they are doing, and treat our cats and us with empathy. We lost a cat a few years ago and they helped us through it better than I could have thought. Recently one of our cats has had some health issues and they have given the best care to him, and been open with us during the whole process while still treating us with care. I cannot recommend everyone at Canyon Lake Vet Hospital enough. You won't regret it if you make this place your veterinary home.

I am beyond impressed with the professionalism and care from the entire team at Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital. We are new in town, we recently moved here from Texas, when our dog Spook got very sick with an infection. Dr. Serena took all the time needed to assess him and each staff member made us feel welcome and went above and beyond. We received follow up calls every day. The staff is truly concerned about the well being of our little boy. What impressed me the most is how welcome and deeply caring everyone is. This is not just a "job" but a true calling for the team at Canyon Lake. We couldn't be in better hands! Of course, we will remain in "Fur-Ever" care at this amazing animal hospital and are eager to share our incredibly wonderful experience.

Our experience at Canyon Lake Veterinary Clinic was fantastic. Our dog Louie needed knee surgery. During the initial consult and knee surgery after, Dr. Sabrina and staff were very good at explaining what to expect. His recovery is going really well. We appreciate how much they treat every pet coming like it was their own!

Doctors and receptionists are always sincere and seem devoted to their job. Our cat is a sweetheart at home but screams non stop anytime we put him in his carrier or take him anywhere and they are always understanding of him. Never too long of a wait.

We originally chose Canyon Lake Vet after finding them as the only recommended vet for bunnies in the Rapid City area through Rabbits USA magazine. I wouldn't recommend any other vet! They have cared and spayed/ neutered all our bunnies and always take amazing care of our fur babies. We take both of our adopted pups here too. When ever Dr. Nick or Serena see us, they always answer all 100 of my questions without hesitation. They speak to me in terms that I can follow and understand so I can give my babies the best care that I possibly can. The vet techs are amazing, they treat your babies like their own.
