REVIEWS OF Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Hospital IN South Carolina

Julie McKinney

My best buddy started having cluster seizures, so our initial visit was an emergency check-in on a Saturday evening. I left knowing my beloved dog was in the best possible care. One of the greatest things is that the veterinarians on duty called me with updates. I didn't have to track them down. We will be regulars from now on.

Alicia LaDow

While we ultimately had to have our dog put to sleep here, we are so grateful for the staff. They treated our dog and offered different options without ever pushing us one way or another. The doctor on duty that night was so kind and thoroughly explained the procedures and situation. When we returned the next morning to say goodbye, the doctor and nurse we saw were so wonderful and compassionate. We will never forget the pure kindness we were shown on one of the hardest days of our lives.

Cheryl Latocha

Love this vet office. It's the best in this area.

Deborah Parries

Three years ago I brought my little yorkie"Leo" to see Dr Bill Gibson and we have loved him ever since. He is always so nice and explains everything in detail to make sure that we understand. Leo had been diagnosed for the previous 7 years with pancreatitis from a previous vet and Dr Gibson advised after bloodwork that Leo did not and probably never had pancreatitis and that he felt like it was his diet and advised that we take grains away and see what happens. Well, happily thats all we had to do because it worked perfectly and he hasn't had a bout with his tummy since. It use to be so bad that he would be hospitalized at least twice a year on IV liquids and that hasn't happened since we changed diet. Also, Dr Gibson never pushes expensive tests. He always gives us options and lets us decide which works best for us. We have moved from Hendersonville to Asheville and we definitely feel the drive is worth it to come to this office. Also, the vet techs are SO nice and always treat Leo so sweet. Thumbs up to this office!!! Deborah Parries and Leo

We were very pleased with the care everyone took of our kitty after his snake bite. From the vet to the technicians to the office staff, everyone at the hospital was top notch!! Would recommend to anyone who needs an emergency vet. Beautiful facility as well!!!

Cindi Williams

A little pricey but they care

Rachel Simmons

Dr. Hughes was awesome!!

Lynn Hurley

I have taken my animals to many emergency clinics across the country and this is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN! The employees are compassionate and highly skilled.

Jim Jenkins

We drive 50 miles to get this exceptional service. Dr. Bill Gibson has been our primary for our Goldens. Great demeanor and very knowledgable.

Brittany Hughes

Great care. Always on top of things. We have been here numerous times. They are awesome

Viviane Garner

The Staff and Doctors are very knowledgeable, patient and love the animals!

Janet Kresge

Ziggy is a typical “baby”, everything in his mouth. With two toddlers around, little toys are all over. Ziggys preference is pacifiers, which he chews the nipples off of. To my dismay he ingested not one but two causing an obstruction. Like any child this happened late Sunday night. Staff was reassuring and kind, procedures complete and exact. The scenario was wait, possible endoscopy and if the object moved, surgery. Vomiting was induced the objects were expelled and Ziggy went home Of course I now have to have a second mortgage on my home but we love our animals

noelle schmoll

Great pet hospital

Phyllis Jones

Quick, thorough care by a caring, friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Heidi Sprowls

I took my do I in as she was having strong pain .they did xrays and gave her a shot. Sent her home on three meds. Very efficient and very nice vet. She explained everything in detail.

Dana Kennedy

I recently visited this hospital with my sick, elderly dog. I decided to end her suffering, and the staff and Dr. Tucker were wonderful. They made sure a difficult time went as smoothly as possible. Dr. Tucker was so very caring and kind, and really went the extra mile for us. I've had many pets over my lifetime, and no doctor ever showed this much compassion after making this tough decision. I highly recommend this hospital.

Susan Goodman

20 minute wait in the room before the tech came in. She explained that she was re Irwin’s the chart to determine what was needed on my dog’s annual visit. Dr. Jenny Gibson was calm and quiet, answered questions and. Alex the following day as promised with lab results.

Jan Moor

I have been taking my 2 cats to WCR-AH for 2 years. I am impressed with the caring & professional attitude of everyone I've met there. This is the only place I trust to care for my animals. Their prices are reasonable & I usually don't have to wait long to see a vet.

Gramps Lanc

Great services, but you pay for it.

Sterling Price

Thank you so very much for your loving care of our sweet Code-e. He is back at home and doing well. I can't say enough great things about Dr.Gibson and the whole team! God bless all of you!

Celia Wagner

I took my cat there for the first time today and was very impressed. I will be taking both of my cats there for regular checkups from now on.

Robert Pruitt

Very clean open 24/7 and very caring and understanding great vets office

Robert Martin

This place is costly as hell...but you do anything for your pets...kitty died... $800. Later. ..pets shouldn't get sick on a weekend....

chris montgomery

The staff and facility are excellent. The only complaint I've ever heard from anyone is that it's a lil more expensive than some places. For the value I disagree, when it comes to certain things I do not price shop, my families health and check ups is one of them. Niko even lives going there so much he takes the wheel.

Angela Powell

Dr. Hughes was a tramenous help during an emergency we had this past Friday night. Caring and professional staff. Highly recommend!

Roxanne MacDougall

What a blessing to have this facility close to our home. Yesterday our vet was gone and we needed to take immediate action. We did not discover the problem until the evening. We were able to get help for our kitty very soon after she became blind from hyperthyroidism-related high blood pressure. This gives her the best chance to heal and regain the ability to see. The staff at WCRAH are wonderful. We have hope.

Bethany Applebome

We had a wonderful experience here! The staff were incredibly kind, and we were seen quickly. Dr. Jenny Gibson was very sweet and gentle with our shy dog. She was thorough and answered all of our questions. I recommend this facility without hesitation!

Jessica Cox

Dr. Lisa was wonderful!

Rose Gordon

They are very nice people

kristi manke

My Lil Pia was treated there for heart failure and I received great service from all the vet people in the back.. I did have some issues with the front of the house not getting the correct message to the vet about Lasix and was cut different size pills after I had called and said please don't cut them and then I was told I had to buy them, it was the one girl that I had an issue with.Other than that I will continue to take my animals there because the vets and the vet techs are awesome.. My dog passed and the vet did the best he could to euthanize my animal as quick as possible so she didn't suffer any more..

Christina Southern

First visit today with my very nervous, senior cat. Dr Gibson was wonderful with him. Very calm & my cat responded well to the Dr & the environment. Great practice.

Barbara Odom

Excellent experience from initial greeting and check in, to the vet tech's care and to the doctor's examination and treatment. I was even offered a cup of coffee while waiting! The facility is new, clean and looks very up to date. And for an emergency facility I had to visit since my usual vet is closed on Saturday, I thought the price was reasonable.

peter goodfield

Efficient and friendly staff from alpha to omega. Nice at reception, vet assistants are great with dogs, and among the several superb veterinarians, we have always been so appreciative of the great care provided by Dr. Bill Gibson...generously always gives us plenty of time, addresses all relevant issues completely, great clinical judgement. The facility itself is clean, modern. We feel so fortunate to have this level of care so conveniently available for routine issues or emergencies 7/24. There are a lot of highly regarded vets in the area, but we are pleased to be able to recommend Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital as an unequivocal 10 out of 10.

Yari Rahn

They have the best caring staff and doctors!

Autumn Mazzarella

very rude over the phone, didn't sound like the woman cared much and was not helpful when we asked what could be wrong because we didn't have enough money for an exam.

Aaron Gilliland

Way to expensive. 106$ just for the doctor to take a look and was asking another FEW hundred dollars just to put maybe 6 or 7 stitches in a cats leg. These people are way more worried about your money than helping anything. So yeah great place to go if your rich.

christopher evensen

We had heard good things about this place. It's a little further out to drive than REACH (which we've been to - nothing wrong with it) but we wanted to give this a try. Luckily our emergency allowed us the extra 20 minutes it took to get here. I don't think people that work at places like this all the way down to front office staff understand how appreciated they are that they are there. They were friendly, quick, and we saw a tech and vet within 10 minutes of arriving. Although there wasn't much we could do for our little guy, it was a good first experience overall. *Edit: Our little guy Claude is still kicking - it's just that there wasn't much they could do other than some pain meds for his clot and paralyzed leg. Hopefully he hangs in there for quite a while longer. Thanks again!

Ray Joe

I've seen several different vets there. They were amazing at explaining everything very kind and helpful. The entire staff is very nice and helpful as well. You may find a cheaper vet office but they're top notch with great friendly service.

Tim Parsons

First visit...have had dogs for 60 years. Very thorough. Excellent explanations. Yes it was more than I had anticipated but then they did more than I anticipated. Most importantly my dog can be skittish. She settled down quickly and seemed very comfortable with the vet and staff and that us telling. Dogs know who to trust. And the bill was certainly less than my own medical visits.

david hilley

I brought my little scotty, Bonnie Mae, in for treatment late one night, she was very sick and Dr Hughes checked her out and informed me of her condition. He was very clear and informative and compassionate. We finally decided to spar her anymore suffering. I was treated with respect and caring through this whole process, including her cremation through Good Shepard. I would highly recommend Dr Hughes and this clinic, you could not possibly find better care.

Susan Harvey

Very thorough and compassionate. Took time to explain, instruct and reassure me before and after taking care of my dog who had been attacked by another dog. They were prompt and responsive in handling my emergency and others as they came in.

Terry R

Absolutely wonderful animal hospital and staff. One cold snowy Saturday evening my son and I went home to find our large lab mix with a cut paw that was bleeding profusely. Our local veterinarian was closed so we had to drive about an hour to this animal hospital. We arrived at about 1:30am Sunday morning and were greeted by the excellent staff there. They immediately went to work on Biscuit (our lab mix) and did everything they could to accommodate us. I would like to give Sierra, the ICU nurse, special recognition for her outstanding job. Even though it was the middle of the night, she was extremely friendly to both my son and I and Biscuit. She kept us well informed of everything that was going on and did everything she could to make us comfortable. We ended up being there a few hours because they had to put him out and stitch him up. The doctor (I can't remember his name) was also phenomenal. He took his time to explain what had happened and what he was doing to fix it. The doctor was extremely intelligent and definitely knew what he was doing. The staff took excellent care of Biscuit. After a over a week of carefully following their instructions we returned to have his stitches removed. Once again, the staff was excellent. Sierra again took excellent care of Biscuit and got him all fixed up. He had an excellent recovery and is now able to do the things he loves doing most, being outside and romping around. Thanks to the staff here, both we and Biscuit are happy. Hopefully we won't have to come here again but if we do ever have an emergency again, this is definitely the place we will go. These people truly care about animals and strive to make both pets and owners happy. Absolutely excellent place and staff. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Michael Chrisawn

Very friendly and professional staff. Saw my puppy at 2 in the morning. Dr. Brandon Hughes did a wonderful job.and kept us in the loop all the way. Just fantastic service.

Kelsey Shelly

They were okay I mean but they said a doctor was coming in and my husband had to go get them him self because they were sitting and laughing in the back. They said they needed a deposit of 450 when The Whole payment was 600? And I told them that’s all I had for the week and they said not my problem !

Jeannie Honeycutt

They took excellent Care of my boy. He is a little hard to deal with and they jumped right in and took care of him. Very loving and professional staff. Wouldn’t take Bentley anywhere else

Sherri Cappabianca

My best friend and I brought her dog there yesterday and it became apparent after a couple of tests that he needed to be euthanized. The staff there was incredible, especially Dr. Hathaway, and her staff. They were kind, compassionate, and caring at an incredibly difficult and emotional time. When I asked Dr. Hathaway how she could handle routinely euthanizing dogs, she said it was an honor to help the "pet parents" through such a difficult situation. I've never had a vet say that before. I was really impressed. The facility is beautiful and clean, and considering they are an emergency vet too, their pricing is very fair. I highly recommend them.

Dawn Ottman

Being fairly new to Hendersonville and only seeing Banfield in Arden which has been an unpleasant experience all around. We needed a Doctor immediately today for some syptoms are golden was having with her breathing. The receptionists, technicians and most of all our Dr. True Verciss were compassionate, thorough and professional . Dr. True Verciss exhausted all possible causes and helped us come to a well thought out treatment plan. Thank you all for your love of animals which is evident the moment we walked in your doors. We will now be a committed and happy family of pets that are so happy now to be part of the Western Carolina Family. Thank you for going the extra mile to bring a very emotional situation to a calm conclusion with our treatment of Lexi. Thank you for taking such good care of our little girl who loves to walk herself. Best Regards, Dawn Ottman & Joe Simonoko

Janet Johnson

I really like this animal hospital. The facility is beautiful. I've taken a dog and 3 cats here. I've been impressed with all the vets Ive seen here which were 3. If you are a regular here you don't have to pay extra for after hours visits since they are a 24/7 service.

Maureen Hourigan

Penny just saw Dr. Grant for her annual check up and she loves Dr. Grant and so do I ! Very caring , thorough, and informative !

guvnc1

Our first time and our cat was dying from heart disease. In a very sad time the hospital staff and doctor were very caring and kind. They helped us through the choices and we chose euthanasia. The hospital gave us a cardboard coffin and flowers and their condolences. We even got a card in the mail. We will definitely return again if the need arises.

Elaine Saltz

Love the care you all did for LuLu. I was so upset after what happen to her and she was checked out to the best even she was not too friendly, but scare too. Thank You for checking her out even she fell 10 feet down off my balcony. She is home and doing good and resting up. I know she will be sore for a while. Love ya guys

Alan Morgan

The folks here have done it all for us from start of life to the end. All with great care and compassion. Highly recommend

P. Rasmussen

Great office/service. We see Dr Hathway & very confident in her care.

Tracy Petri

Compassion, Caring, and GREAT MEDICAL Attention. Thank you for providing all of the above, during our loss.

Miguel Rodriguez • Sara Crews

You would think that people opened a vet hospital for the soul purpose of helping all animals no matter the cost, and always work with pet owners on the bill, but no, why would they do that? They are just in it for the money

Laurie Zimmerman

We took our cat there late one night. The Vet on call that night, Haley Bates, so compassionate and scrupulous in determining what the problem was, ultimately, and with great kindness, giving us the recommendation to put down our sweet Manuka, couldn't have been a better example of what it means to be a great Vet. We later received a beautiful card expressing such deep understanding of what the loss of a treasured pet can mean, we were truly touched by her thoughtfulness. We give Haley our praise and gratitude.

Kristin Benson

Very impressed. Know others who are similarly pleased. They saw us in the middle of the night on a holiday weekend. Worth the drive from Boiling Springs SC.

Alysia Maher

For the last 5 years we have trusted our dog to the excellent and caring staff at WCRAH, especially Dr. Bill Gibson. The compassion shown not only to our Cocoa but to us as pet parents is heartwarming and rare. Little issues to huge issues, this team always shines. I as a Realtor, am often asked about Veterinary needs for my clients, and it has been my pleasure to recommend this fine organization... Cocoa sends kisses to Dr. Bill and all the fine vet techs behind him. God shines down and blesses greatly, those who dedicate their time to our furry friends.

Kar Mitchell

Dr.Cannady DVM and Megan VT were tremendously supportive and knowledgeable when I brought my little Chihuahua Mikey (17yo) to them. He was in respiratory distress and had a significant heart condition. He passed peacefully with me in a quiet room after consultation regarding euthanizing him. They were so great with him. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did to support us both. I will miss that sweet little soul.

Sue Trollinger

Friendly staff, caring doctors, worth the money to know my dogs are well cared for!

Jimmy Souther

Always welcomed and very nice

Laura Toney

My 10 week old mastiff mix puppy was extremely sick. At the point of death. The staff and doctors are AMAZING and I would use them again if needed. (Hopefully I never will) Thank you for saving Kodiaks' life!

Jerry Bradford

Very kind and professional. Treated our puppy with love even when he was so nervous he got nippy.

Kelsey Soper

This place is the best! Worth the drive out of Asheville, especially in an emergency. They are fast, organized, and informative.

Casey Radford

I’ve had two experiences with them and they were much better than my one experience at a different emergency vet. About a year ago my dog landed wrong on her leg and became limp and cried and yelped. It was a Sunday. We drove to WCR and were taken straight back to the vet. They determined no permanent damage was done and spoke to me about proper diet and exercise to prevent more injuries. Also the facility was very nice and the bill was not as bad as I had expected. Then late tonight I discovered my dog had eaten parts of used Q-tips. Gross! But I was worried and unsure what to do. I called to get some guidance and they took their time to talk with me and ask questions. They eased my mind even though I’m sure they were busy. I also appreciated that they didn’t try to get me to come in unnecessarily like some other vets might do. They just gave me signs to look out for that may warrant a visit. They seem to really put the pets and owners first. Thanks you guys and I’m glad for the peace of mind to have you as my neighbors.

Deborah Krueger

Compassionate care on the weekend. Have needed emergency care for three of my pets off hours and always a great experience. Willing to drive from Fletcher. Costs are reasonable and they are up front about it. Would recommend highly being a human healthcare professional!

X_ AsunaSAO_X

Polite and took care of my furbabies

R LW

Such a wonderful experience from the front office staff to the nurse and veterinary doctor. They always handle my kitties with care and compassion. I’ve been coming to this place for years and I am a huge fan.

Richard Hazzard

The Doctors are excellent. the support staff treats you like they care. And everyone likes animals. I know that sounds crazy, but I am sure some of you have been to the Vet and walked out wondering why that person wanted to be a Vet. Well here it is obvious they love the animals.

Loretta Ludwig

Yesterday morning my dog came in with a pretty good size laceration, I new she needed stitches. After a very long day at REACH (12hrs) I decided to go pick up my dog who hadn’t been seen yet. I took her to Western and the staff was so caring and compassionate! They got us in, got my dog stitched up and we were on our way after only a hour and a half visit. I even got kisses from the “office” Frenchie! Dr. Bates and her team are amazing! I most definitely would recommend this Hospital for anyone in need. My pup is at home resting and doing great!

Monica Garren

One of my dogs, Harper had emergency surgery here in March from a dog attack. Dr. Bates saved her life and was so nice and helpful throughout the entire process of her recovery. We are so grateful for her and the entire staff that helped us during this time. Harper has made a full recovery and is feeling better than ever. Thank you for everything.

Alex Morton

Very thorough and competent. We have been going there for 7 years 2 months and have always been satisfied will all aspects of care.

ELLEN HUTCHISON

One of the best places to take your animals whatever they are

Teresa Ward

The staff and Doctors are excellent. My experience could not have gone any better. Everyone is friendly and they all have a very caring and compassionate attitude that shines through. Thank you for taking care of my baby.

Jamielee Wilson Prue

Really nice people took great care of our little cat Ryuu. Not super pricey like you expect a 24 hour Vet to be. A perfect experience during a really stressful time. Could not be happier. I would call on them again.

Shannon Friday

I brought my nine month old puppy into this facility Saturday afternoon, he was severely vomiting and clearly under the weather. Staff was friendly but I called the day after with a couple questions, something that shouldn’t have taken the vet a couple minutes to speak to me about, and after two calls five hours apart I never heard back. I’m worried about my dog and I just get the feeling it’s like “thanks for your money, see ya”. Won’t be going back if I’m in another emergency, I’ll drive extra to Greenville. I decided to edit this review from two stars to one. I would make it -5 if I could. My puppy was diagnosed from this place as having worms, he ended up being sick with PARVO and would’ve DIED if I didn’t take him somewhere else for a second opinion! What a f-ing joke.

Mindy Lancaster

I always have had a very good experience at Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital. Dr. Grant does a wonderful job of talking through whatever the issue at hand may be, as well as explaining the treatment plan. Everyone I have come in contact with during our visits has been friendly, compassionate, and professional.

Barry Lancaster

I had one good visit and one terrible I went in at 5 30 one morning my little guy was in terrible pain they must change shifts at 6 so my little guy didn’t get seen until 700 my vet opened at 8 should have waited the vet was with me 8 to 10 min 150 dollars then they would not let me use my care credit acc because one of the people on the acc wasn’t present to give I’d my vet all Saints recommends them after hours I will not use them agin got home my guy was in terrible pain he should have had a shot outrageous treatment

Jessica Houde

I had both scheduled and emergency visits here and was pleased with the professional, pleasant staff and Veterinarians that truly care about your pet. They made an estimate before a complicated treatment and worked hard to give my baby the best care that ended up costing much less than the estimate. They also scanned a lost dog I found for a microchip for free and with a smile late Sunday afternoon. When he didn’t have a microchip, they suggested I check their bulletin board where his owner thankfully had a flyer. He was back with his family that same evening!

Leslie Gross

After Telly ingested a braided rope belt (think 70s fringe), after hours, and it became clear that she was very sick, they took her right in, did x-rays (see attached pic) and a thorough assessment and determined emergency surgery was necessary and did it that very night. Two days later, she was fit to come home! Unfortunately, the timing of Telly's snack induced surgery could not have been worse. We already had nonrefundable tickets to go out of town for a week two days later and no one would board her so soon after major surgery. But Western Carolina Regional saved the day (and the dog!) again by agreeing to board her, give her all of her meds, leash walk her, carefully monitor her diet and even take pictures post op, for us! Telly is back to her happy self but after a $3000 bill from her deciding to fix herself an extra meal, she'll be in the doghouse for quite a while!

C Ringer

We had an emergency consult on a Sunday afternoon for our Miniature Schnauzer who was suffering from a slipped disc. The staff was warm, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. The vet who saw her was very thorough and listened well and took the time for our questions and concerns. We would certainly go there again if we had an after hours emergency and could not see our own vet! If you want the best care for your fur baby, this is the best place you can bring them. We are very grateful for their care and expertise.

Cindy Dennis

The staff and doctors are very kind and caring. They provide excellent care and communication. Their prices are fair and reasonable. They provide emergency service, as well as regular vet care. No one wants to have to take their pet to an emergency vet, but if you do, I highly recommend them, and if you live close to them, they would be an excellent choice for your pet's regular vet care.

Kim Burton

We were treated with kindness and compassion when we arrived. Everyone was gentle, loving and caring for our beloved dog. The treatment and consultation with the vet was amazing. We appreciate all the staff members who assisted us with Making some difficult decisions.

Kathryn Wilson

The prices are high, but when my cat is in distress, it's worth it.

Vicki Ledbetter

Bailey swAllowed the squeeker out of a toy. Our vet wanted to do surgery and leave her for the night. We went to Flat Rock and these people are the bomb! No surgery, watched her all night called is before bedtime and in the morning. No surgery, when we got home she pooped it out! These vets weren't in a rush to go to surgery, and they were right!

tracie c

I'm so please we took our girl here. She woke up with a serious case of hives on a Sunday morning. From the initial phone call to DVM and every person in between that we interacted with were caring and lovely. These folks genuinely love animals. Truly a super experience.

Tina Murphey

We have always received excellent I'm service. We have had our furbaby here on three different occasions and they have provided her with absolute loving and very knowledgeable care.

jack williams

Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable. I've had a lot of experience with animals, large and small, and with vets. I have a lot of confidence in their ability to know what to do and to do it.

R Ziegler

They really know their stuff.

Debbie Pace Beasley

Caring. Thorough.

Lisa Ellen

Dr Bill Gibson is always patient, kind and knowledgable we have been going here for 4 years and have always had a good experience.

Andrea Garber

Would definitely recommend for your furry friend! My dog got a bone stuck around her bottom jaw on a Saturday evening. The staff was very kind and willing to help. We were seen very quickly and they handled the situation very professionally and with confidence!

Mrs Worley

We highly recommend WCRAH. After a recent emergency on a Sunday with Tyson, the staff wasted not a moment in having us checked in and getting to work getting our little fella diagnosed and helping him. During his stay and treatment for HGE he was well cared for, and the fact that they welcome calls for updates, as well as calling and keeping us informed was wonderful in keeping me from over worrying. All of the staff were absolutely awesome, kind and compassionate. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for getting Tyson back up on his feet and tail wagging again. As he continues his recommended recovery regime, we will always be grateful for all of the healing hands and caring hearts at WCRAH.

Anna one

The whole staff was so hateful to me and my daughter .we found a stray dog that was very sick and wanted him checked out .they just did not care they are very rude if you don't like your job you don't need to be there those people have no compassion at all just horrible people

Kathleen Mary

I brought my 17 year old dog here about 6 weeks ago. He had hurt his back and was put on steroids. As a result, he developed pancreatitis and hepatitis. I had a bad feeling as soon as the vet walked in the room. He told me there was no hope for him, there was nothing that could be done and we should put him down right then. It didn’t feel right AT ALL in my gut so I opted to give him a little fluid and take him home. Well, fast forward to now and he’s walking, eating more than he did before he got sick and doing his little happy dance. His bloodwork is normal now as well. Thank GOD I didn’t listen to this vet. If something doesn’t feel right, trust YOURSELF and don’t get pressured by the vet just because they went to school.

Joseph Godwin

A very long overdue thank you to Dr Jenny and all the staff at Carolina. We met them several years ago when our beloved schnauzer, Dani had an emergency and we couldn't get an appt. with our regular vet. They got us right in and we were told if we'd waited another day or two, it would have been too late! The staff knew we wanted the best of care for Dani, and they followed his health care carefully. I never had to worry about missing regular check ups for shots and treatments. They were always right on top of it. As Dani aged, he had several major health events. Dr Jenny and staff were either able to return Dani to health, or send us to specialists for necessary treatment. Then there were phone calls to check on his recovery. When time finally ran out for the little guy, Dr Jenny and staff made his last hour peaceful and stress free. For both of us. A gentle shot to make him drowsy as I sat by his side and fed him treats. Then it was time. It's been a little over a year now and we still miss our little boy. He brought us 14 years of love and joy. Dr Jenny and all the staff at Carolina saw us through Dani's middle age to aging out. If you have a canine companion, or are starting out with a new puppy, this is the clinic for you. A heartfelt thank you to the caring folks at Carolina. Kathleen and Joe Godwin

Loreen Finn

Staff is friendly, helpful, and concerned about my 65 lb. "Baby". Actually, our Portuguese water dog whose first visit was for a hip problem , and tonight for a bad snake bite. We were treated wirh concern, and the doctor provided an in-depth explanation of the entire process. So thrilled with this facility and the people. I'm resting a bit easier knowing our little guy is where he needs to be, receiving the best treatment, and is surrounded by caring, capable people. Thanks to all who work here. Bailey's mom.

susan freck

Amazing group of people. We were extremely pleased with the service we were given. It is very apparent that they care about the animals and not just in it for the money. We were given thorough explanations for everything they were doing. We were not pressured for anything unnecessary with procedures like I am sure most Emergency vets do. I will happily drive the hour and 45 mins, past the Emergency Vet in Asheville if we ever have a situation come up again!!!

Tammy Conner

We had an emergency situation with our dog. Got him back to see the doctor within minutes. She diagnosed and began a treatment plan very quickly. We had to leave him overnight. Dr. Bates called us twice to give updates and let us know how he was doing. They were extremely friendly and definitely wanted to and did give the best care for our pet. We are very thankful they were there during a very scary time!

Jann Howell

My older dog had bloat. A long and serious surgery later, she had survived. They handled this along with a tumor on her spleen in the operation. During the surgery, the front staff would check and come back and say she was doing fine. She survived and did well. That evening the vet called me with an update - that she was fine. I asked if she had kissed her and she assured me that she had. What vet does this? The next morning the day vet called with an update. Obviously caring and compassionate. I drive from SC just for this kind of treatment. Why wouldn't I?

Invader Rach

Thank you so much for treating River so kind and gently during her euthanasia. You guys are wonderful people, and very professional! I would definitely be back again for regular visits with my dog Zuko if you guys weren't a 45 minute drive from our house. If we ever need emergency vet care again after hours we will certainly drop by!

Mary Jayne Meyer

I love this hospital! The vets and staff are very caring and leave no stone unturned to ensure your pets receive the best care possible. I have complete confidence that my pets are receiving the best care possible

Jon Bridges

We can't say enough good things about WCRAH! Both of our dogs ended up sick over this past weekend (of course, it always happens on a weekend). As full-time RVers, we have to rely on veterinarians wherever we happen to be. We called them on Sunday morning at 8am and were able to take them right in. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional and we feel like our dogs received exceptional care at a very reasonable price. The people of western North Carolina are very fortunate to have such a professional facility in their area!

Patricia Stefan

THEY ARE A PROFESSIONAL AND ANIMAL COMPASSIONATE GROUP OF EMPLOYEES WHO ON ONE OCCASION, SAVED MY SHAR PEI, CHARLES'S LIFE! I HAVE THE GREATEST APPRECIATION FOR THEIR EXPERTISE AND REAL CARE OF ANIMALS!

Bill A

Rushed my pooch in there after he was stung by a yellow jacket, he was panting and short of breath, really scary. They had him treated in minutes, two injections and he quickly recovered. Wonderful to have someone like this available 24 hours in a small town like Hendersonville.

Stephanie Richardson

Very kind, compassionate, understanding, knowledgeable who "triage" well depending upon severity and situation for our beloved companions in fur/feathers/scales/?fins? .... WONDERFUL !!!

Vivian Dunlop

Dr. Gibbson was great. She is getting our dog the appropriate help that she needs right away. Great facility

Ryan Ziegler

These people are very nice. They know their stuff. Also, if you use them as your regular vet you dont have to have records sent from one vet to another. They're all there.

Corey Cagle

Absolutely wonderful, informative, gentle, and caring with my Gypsy. I was so worried and they went above and beyond to make sure she got better.

Lissa Juedemann

Very happy with WCRAH! We have seen several of the doctors and all have been wonderful. They have been caring and knowledgable in guiding us through some scary and difficult situations, and are always cheerful and helpful with routine pet care. Excellent doctors, wonderful staff, and a very nice facility.

Michele O'Connor

We have just moved into the area and have an elderly cat with renal failure . We needed to have her placed with 24 hour care to receive intravenous fluids and antibiotics. WCRAH was recommended by a local Veterinarian. The Veterinarian and staff at WCRAH were very attentive, explained in detail what to expect as Molly's disease progresses, and gave updates on her condition which were a great comfort to us. I would definitely recommend this hospital.

17 year old Scooter

Caring compassionate staff. Always there.

Katharine Coxwell

My Dandie Dinmont Terrier became ill in NC, and I felt it was necessary to have him checked by a vet. The staf and Dr. Turner could not have been nicer. The facility was spotless. The nurse and staff were very thorough and explained everything in detail. I really appreciate their taking us in without an appointment. I highly recommend Western Zcarolina Regional Animal Hospital.

Cindy Jones

The staff is very attentive, and supportive, I had to leave my fur baby overnight, and was reluctant to do so, but after meeting the staff, I knew she was in good hands! Thank you for your kindness

Cece Evil

Thank you so much for your help through our hard time. The 2 years we've been here the vets have been such a disaster and has not cared about us or our dogs. We felt so comfortable and like we could trust everyone and that you had my girls best interests in mind over anything. You guys are wonderful, again thank you for being so amazing to us and our girl in the last days.

Lynn Romeo

The support staff was responsive and very thorough, the nurse, Sonny, and the vet, Dr. Pasquarello, were excellent with our little dog and took the time to answer our many questions even though they were having a very busy day. I thoroughly recommend them.

Natalie Berry

Took my two girls for annual check up. Dr. Gibson is such an outstanding vet. He really does care about you and your pets. I would recommend this place to all my pet friends parents!

Lew B

Had to help my Boss with there pup, this doctor office was great, clean ,friendly, curtious.

Mary Johnston

I so appreciate the staff at WCRAH. They are always (24 hrs a day) helpful, resourceful and knowledgeable to help me care for my pets. I especially appreciate Dr. Gibson. His understanding and kindness to my pets and to me is appreciated, and I always leave with options for going forward. Thank you!

Megan Lehn

We took our baby girl Loralei here when she got sick on our vacation. The second we pulled in staff greeted us holding the doors open and immediately checking us in. My nerves settled down instantly seeing how kind, compassionate and attentive the staff were. The doctor took her time explaining different treatment plans and offering her recommendations, the nurse reviewed all the medications and discharge with us thoroughly and when she said we could call for anything I could tell she genuinely meant it. On top of it all the facility is very clean. The staff here turned a bad situation into getting our baby girl better and we very much appreciate them.

Jerome Kamm

My dog had a stroke he was done! This place has compassion and took care of my little one thank you very much... I will miss you! They saved this little guy 8 years ago. Almost died from heart worms.....

kelly justice

Great Staff and great care for my dog!

Wade Helzer

Excellent and knowledgeable staff. If you need a vet or have a pet emergency this is the place.

Susan Ehlers

When we moved from MN, we arrived with two Great Danes and one old kitty. We tried one local vet office, but were disappointed with the experience we encountered. We decided to make appointments at this hospital for all of our 4-legged family members and were impressed from the moment we walked into the waiting area. Each of our pets was greeted by at least one person while we waited to see our doctor. Each person was kind and approached each pet in a very caring manner, knowing that animals can be quite tense in such situations. We have been going to this hospital for our three years in NC and every experience has been wonderful! We have had great care in all situations— routine health visits, nail trims, and emergency situations. We have always been exceedingly happy with the care and love shown to our 4-legged family members. We cannot say “thank you” enough times to all those who have helped, and continue to help, our family!

Kristen Banks

I love them. They're patient with nervous dogs and will sit and explain everything to you. I've witness them playing with the animals in the back while they are in their care.

Shelia Mason

Very caring place for you and your pet.

JC Chastain

Dr William Gibson chose the wrong career. I've acconoanied two families to his clinic during tragic emergency situations for him to be rude to the human and severely lacking in compassion towards their suffering furbabies. There is plenty of choices in veterinary care, do uyou family a favor and choose another hospital.

Our 8-month old German Shepherd (approximately 80lbs. at the time) got into a bottle of Baclofen, a muscle relaxer, and ingested 26. We rushed him to our local vet — Rutherford Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Michelle Toms-Greene and her staff — who was able to get him stabilized. Dr. Toms-Greene then sent us to Western Carolina Animal Hospital in Flat Rock, NC, where they have 24-hour care. The staff greeted us at our car and brought our puppy inside. They were aware of the situation and immediately put him on IVs. He stayed overnight at the hospital with Dr. Owen and his great staff!! Our puppy’s temperature went up to 105 in the middle of the night and Dr. Owen and his assistant quickly put him in an ice bath and his temperature came back down. I cannot say enough about Dr. Owen and his two assistants who were with our dog the majority of the time. He was really in their hearts and they took such great care of our puppy and saved his life! The hospital is immaculate and everyone there is so kind and they all obviously love their jobs! Thank you so much for all you did to save our puppy. Today he is a happy, healthy dog, soon to be two years old. I wanted to be sure to thank you all, especially Dr. Owen! He is the absolute best! We highly recommend this animal hospital!! Also we have met several of the other doctors there and they are all very good. Thank you so much!!

Kathryn Pearman

Spectacular staff and veterinarian's on duty to help you through your emergency. As with any emergency it will be expensive but these people do care for your animal.

James Tennant

We recently had to use Western Carolina Regional Veterinary Emergency Services for our 10 year old Dachshund. We have never had an after hour emergency before and wasn't sure what to expect. From the minute we arrived, on last Sunday early evening, we experienced nothing but the upmost in professional and friendly service. They scooped Abby out of my arms and took her into their emergency room and started oxygen. Within minutes Dr. Gibson had x-rays and knew exactly what was going on and what needed to be done. She explained everything to us in detail and shows us on the x-rays as she was explaining. She let us know of the severity of Abby's pneumonia and the possibility of a not so great outcome. To make a long story short, after 4 days in their emergency care, their day and night shifts got our Abby back to health. She still has weeks till full recovery, but if I had waited till the following Monday morning, thinking I would take here to our regular vet, Abby would probably not be with us. My wife and I are so thankful that we have a facility like Western Carolina Emergency Care for our pets that provides us with 24/7 care. It gives us a lot of piece of mind. Thanks so much to all of the staff.

Nancy DePippo

The staff here is very kind and clearly love animals. We have used them for several pets including one beloved cat they had to euthanize. As horrible as that was, thier caring was obvious.

Julie

We are so happy we found this place!!! They have taken such great care of my pit bull!! She was hit by a car and they all treat her as if she’s theirs! If we have a question about anything we can call them! PRAISE GOD for this facility and their staff!!! Never have I used a veterinary office that even compares to Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital!! They are there 24/7!! It’s the hospital for pets!! Not just a vet office!!!!! We love you Western Carolina!!!!!!!!❤️

ron and gayle Siggs

great service, really care about my pets

Angela Frazier

Once again, this hospital has been a true godsend. It is still so important to hear a live voice, a knowledgeable person answer the phone. The staff is qualified, caring, and helpful. I am so thankful this hospital is near me. I literally pass 3 other veterinary hospitals to seek and receive the care my pets receive from this establishment. Many thanks for all you do. And as a sidenote- Carla is an absolute asset.

Jenny Russell

Compassionate care. After hours service is never cheap, but I had a good experience with kind staff and doctors.

Matthew Rahn

These vets go out of their way to make the experience as good as possible even when you have to make hard calls.

Mike Rodman

I've been taking my pets to Western Carolina Regional Hospital for years.... My wife and I have always been very pleased with the care and service they provide. Highly recommend.

We have been using WNC Animal Hospital since we moved here 2 1/2 years ago. The whole staff is caring and compassionate. We love Dr. Bill Gibson, he is very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. He clearly is passionate about his job. He has a very calming effect in stressful situations. We wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Glenda Travis

When our Stella became very sick over the Memorial Day weekend, we made our first visit to WCRAH. Everyone there showed us nothing but concern, care and compassion. Dr.Tucker was professional and thorough, explaining the procedures that would be done. After an overnight stay, we were able to bring our girl home with meditation and detailed instructions. I cannot say enough about this amazing facility....highly recommend!!!

Laura Smith

Firstly I would like to say the staff here are very good and attentive. My dog had several slipped disks in his back and they knew right away that he needed surgery. They do not preform this kind of surgery, so they referred us to Greenville. What I did not like was the fact that their prices are outrageous. I do understand that it’s an emergency center and it was Sunday, but $275 for pre-op blood work? I’ve only ever paid $65 for this at my usual vet, and it’s not a cheap vet. And why did they feel compelled to do that blood work anyways when we were having the operation somewhere else. Then, I’m not sure why this happened, but they said they sent the results over to the Greenville hospital, yet hours later and multiple calls later they still didn’t have the results.. I’m not even sure if they ever did get them. I feel like they need to tell people the prices of their services before they go ahead and charge for them. Needless to say I feel a little ripped off, considering they couldn’t even do the surgery there. I feel torn leaving this review, because I do feel like they have great vets and staff, yet you really need to ask them their prices before letting them do anything. And maybe that was my fault for not asking, but I was pretty emotional at that point, not knowing what would happen to my dog. I also understand doing whatever it takes for your pet (considering I just paid for back surgery!) but I felt the blood work was completely unnecessary for them to do and at that point they took advantage of the situation and wanted some more money.

Nicki Minaj

We love this place! It's clean, fast and the staff is awesome! The greatest part is that it was pretty cheap compared to most emergency clinics. Everyone knows what it's like to have your beloved pet need emergency care, but the fear of the bill can be just as scary as the emergency. It was amazing to come out of this place with a healthy puppy and an affordable bill. I will definitely be going here instead of reach if I ever need to again.

WENDY Forbes

Even though many things don't happen with pets during regular vet business hours and with my Molly her condition had gotten worse over the hours I was at work so my vet was closed. Luckily Western Carolina isn't! No one likes paying ER costs but for the peace of mind and getting my girl treated before it got any worse than it already had was priceless. Thank you ladies for being caring....patient with the both of us...and thorough. She is getting better today instead of worse!

Mary Beth King

The staff is very friendly, prompt, and caring. They took care of my pup like he was their own!

Susan O'Brien

Marcus has been visiting Western Carolina Regional for the last 9 years. I am so grateful for the wonderful care they have given him.

Julie Wist

Very disappointed in this practice. The front staff was helpful and friendly. I took my dog here for him being in pain and we did not know where from. We explained to the tech and the Dr. that we had heard popping coming from his leg, but that was not addressed to us at any point. They took him in the back to do the exam and blood work then came back. When we talked to the vet, the vet said the pain could be from his back so they did x-rays, which really didn't show much but possible bone spurs, not definite though. We left $550 later with pain meds and no real answers. The dog then starts limping a couple days later so I call them back to be told the limping could be from his back, where the bone spurs were supposed to be, and I said where the bones spurs were supposed to be should cause him to scream when he jumps up and hold his leg up, I then asked if there was a note that his leg was examined, she was not much help then put me on hold which is fine but I finally hung up. The next day when I go to work she had called my work number back twice so at least she tried to call back, but could have called my home number instead. Now we are having to take him somewhere else to have his leg checked out because he's still in pain and limping when he jumps. I hate to leave a bad review on anyone but the cost is ridiculous for what we received, and yes they let you know the cost up front but to pick the wrong body part was a bit too frustrating for us.

We’ve been going to Western Carolina Animal Hospital for nearly ten years and couldn’t be happier. Having moved here from Florida with our first golden retriever, Rascal. And our sweet kitty cat, Rocket, we needed a new veterinarian. We chose WCRAH and have stayed with them the entire time. Due to age, both of our pets have passed since then and during that sad, stressful time the doctors’s and staff at WCRAH couldn’t have been nicer. We preferred having our pets taken care of by doctors who are caring, professional, friendly and on staff 24 hours. Well... we now have our second golden, Jazzy. She is 6 now and has been taken care of by the doctors and staff at WCRAH since the day she was born. She was actually born at WCRAH. She is happy, healthy, and well loved. We highly recommend Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Clinic Jazzy

Jamie Berryman

Expensive, but they've saved both of my dogs on multiple occasions. If you have the means, they will do everything they can to save your pet. Unfortunately not all people can afford their services, I would love to see some reviews that say how they helped pets even when the owners couldn't afford full payment. Perhaps a payment plan, sponsorship, or even some pro-bono treatment would help with the reputation that you guys seem to have acquired

Sara Bradley

So glad to have an emergency clinic close by without going to Asheville. Dr. Bates & all the vet techs were awesome. Brought my cat in around 10pm after almost 2 full days of not eating & some vomiting, he was seen, had bloodwork done & taken care of within an hour or so. Now he's back to his normal a**hole self! Thanks guys!

Evalynn Hyra

I panicked when my dog jumped off the bed this morning and couldn't get up off the floor without help. The staff were thorough and felt he had just sprained some muscles so no x-rays were needed. I left feeling greatly relieved with a modest bill. So glad they are here for off hours.

Vickie O'Toole

Clean and friendly. Very good about sending reminders of upcoming visits, and needed vaccines.

huntington klee

In the middle of putting down my 17 yo baby, I'm bawling, I'm holding her and saying goodbye...and the front desk person walks in asking for payment. Classless and heartless. They gave my baby (an indoor 17 yo cat) a rabies vaccine and 10 days later we had to put her to sleep. Stay away from this place!

Mary ickes

At 4:30 yesterday, I called for an emergency appointment for a possible bladder issue for Buddy. We arrived within minutes and Dr. Gibson saw us right away. Fortunately, Buddy did not have an urgent issue and Dr. Gibson gave him shots to stop his constant trips to the litter box. Thanks to Dr. Gibson and the kind, efficient staff, Buddy is much better this morning. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Tara Keyse

Will never return here

Lauren King

Cannot say enough great things about this vet and all of the staff. My boxer baby had to go in to get a growth removed and Dr. Gibson is the best there is! All very genuine people.

SPIKE MAN RULES

Great care for the animals in your life, we are here for the most unfortunate reason for our 13 year old dog. They are very caring in tough times.

French Roast

We were out for just a few hours and overlooked a Christmas gift package of chocolate but Montana did not. He ate a great deal of dark chocolate (the worse and there is no good chocolate for dogs) so off we went to this most caring setting from front desk to doctors. This is a state of the art facility. Montana was admitted and received total care from inducing his re-gifting of the chocolate to IV's and supportive care. His lab values were done on premises and fortunately he was treated in time to fully recover.
