We love Southern Paws! Dr. Lail is a blessing. It's difficult to find a good exotics vet, and she is the best. She always takes take to discuss any issues I have and I never feel like she's hurrying to get things done. And she treats my snakes like they're as important as the furry pets, which is wonderful. Southern Paws is the most professional facility we have ever taken our dogs to. When we had a litter of 8 pups, Dr. Hill and staff made several trips to our home to administer medication and shots to the new arrivals. Try to get your MD to do that! New to area, the staff made room to see our sick cat prior to holiday weekend. We returned next week with dog, 2nd cat and small parrot. Everyone very helpful. Being the owners of a bearded dragon and given that few animal hospitals see exotic animals in the immediate area, when we found out about Southern Paws and Dr. Lail, we were excited. We saw Dr. Lail on 3/5/18 and are more than happy with the overall experience. She was very knowledgeable about bearded dragons (she has one herself and explained it is a passion of hers) and took her time to not only examine him, but also to listen to us and our concerns and answered questions fully. She even went a step above and called the next day to check on how he was doing! We will definitely be using Southern Paws in the future!

I have a geriatric guinea pig who became sick in the early morning hours on a Friday. I was referred here by our regular veterinarian because they were double-booked for the day. I called and they were also solidly booked, but hearing of her sickness, they offered to help work us in when they could. I didn’t have to wait as long as I had anticipated and Dr. Lail was amazing! So thankful for her willingness to work with a new patient, and also her professionalism and friendliness. I’m sure Dr. Lail will now be our regular veterinarian for our pocket pets and exotics!

Dr. Hill has been seeing both of my senior dogs for the past few years. I trust her and really feel like she cares about my concerns and cares about their well being. My dog Kissy was terribly sick two years ago, the kindness and compassion along with the medical care made the difference between life and death. I trust Dr. Hill with my babies and feel like I can ask about any concern. The office is kept very clean as well. I am highly allergic (and have asthma induced reactions to cats) and I’m able to avoid major reactions when I visit and that is the strongest indicator I can imagine to demonstrate the cleanliness of the facility. Obviously this is very important.

Our first visit was great. We took our 2 Great Pyrenees puppies in for a cough and stomach issues. The Staff, Vet Tech and Vet were all kind and reassuring. What a great veterinarian & grooming company! Everyone in the office from the front desk staff to the owner herself are all so friendly, patient, and helpful. We had our cat groomed there and they did a great job! And, it's not easy to find a location that provides grooming services for cats. But, more importantly, they so patiently helped us with the process of getting health certificates / passports for both our cat and dog. My husband and I recently moved to the UK from the US and let me just tell you the USDA does NOT make the process easy! The state veterinarian at the USDA office in Colombia gave us all the wrong information and when we arrived to get approval & signature (a 2 hour drive mind you) we were told that the wrong form had been used even though we used the form that they told us to use (go figure, right?!). Anyway, the staff at Southern Paws Animal Hospital were all extremely patient and helpful. After four vet visits and having to fill out all the paperwork yet again with the "correct" form we FINALLY got it all straitened out. Thank goodness they were all so kind and helpful otherwise our pets may not have made it with us to the UK! Thank you to everyone that helped us with the process. We are forever grateful!

This review is little past due, we used Southern Paws in August 2017. They helped us out when we were in the last days with our 14 year old lab. We had a primary vet who had cared for our guy for his entire life but when it came time to let him go the doctor (not Southern Paws) wasn’t willing to do it at our house which we felt would be the most comfortable location due to his anxiety and seizures. I called everywhere and Southern Paws was willing to come to our home and arrange everything! The circumstances as you can imagine were not easy by any means but Dr Hill’s manners were soothing and helpful, she even made an impression of his paw print while there. We were highly impressed with the company they coordinated with to take him away for cremation as we requested. The gentleman was waiting outside when we were ready. Letting your fur baby go is extremely difficult but they handled everything with such professionalism even when we stopped by the office to pick up his box and imprint. The office staff was kind and considerate and we will most certainly be using them as our vet when the time comes to get another dog in our family. Thank you!!!

Dr. Hill and the entire staff have always been so friendly, professional and helpful. They talk to and treat my puppies with respect and care. You can tell how much they love their job by how they talk to the pets, and they'll even get down on the floor if the patient is timid or scared! They have great monthly specials (e.g. teeth cleaning, $$ off prescription food) and genuinely care about the pets they treat.

Dr. Hill (owner) proved her incompetence by prescribing doxycycline instead of tried and true amoxicillin to a dog over 13 years of age. After bringing it to her attention that this prescription was not what we traditionally use to treat this type of condition, she doubled down on her mistake by insisting that we keep trying it for the remainder of the prescription. Fast forward nearly a week and Oscar's bacterial infection and resulting cough have gotten worse and we demand that she prescribe him Clavamox (amoxicillin) instead. She agrees and sets up another office visit insisting that Oscar "needs to be seen". At this next (and final) office visit, Dr. Hill informed us that we would have to order our Clavamox online *after paying for another visit* which was utterly useless as in essence all she did was say, "Order the Clavamox online. Now that will be $45..." I insisted that Dr. Hill call me back about this last office visit and inform me why I was told Oscar needed to be seen when in reality all they wanted to do was extort a few more dollars from us. I was told to expect a phone call back the same or next day, but as expected (and nearly a week later), Dr. Hill never returned my phone call. We drove 2 hours back to our old hometown to see our trusted veterinarian who was immediately appalled at the treatment we had received at this questionable establishment. He gave Oscar the Clavamox that he needed and Oscar's cough was cleared up in less than 48 hours! The only thing keeping this place afloat is the friendly and considerate wait-staff. Dr. Hill should be ashamed to call herself a doctor, as she clearly does not take her oath to this profession seriously.

My grand dog ,Moose, is an animal with a mind of his own(.SHEBA INU) Moose took one tablet(100mg) of Trazodone and another tablet of Gabapentin (100 mg) to subdue his aggressiveness. Moose was only affected a little but with the help of an assistant, Dr Hill treated his infected ear without being bit. Excellent job since the vet at Dilworth where Moose lives asked our son to not bring him back due to aggressiveness. So.Paws has treated him twice now and we are appreciative of their excellence.

This vet is about 45 min drive from my home, but we continue to bring our dog here because the vets are wonderful. Very observant. They followed up on something my Vet in Illinois never took the time to in the 15 years I went to them. One visit prompted the vets at Southern Paws to request more records from our vet in Illinois and ultimately let to diagnosis that our vet in Illinois should have at least suspected! Worth the drive!

This is a very clean and professional office. I Was there to treat a sick sugar glider, which it is hard to find veterinarians that treat exotic pets. She clearly knew what she was doing and was very knowledgable in Sugar Gliders which helped to relieve my worries. It was a very thorough visit and nothing was missed or looked over. All my questions were answered and the visit never felt rushed. I even received a phone call the following day checking up on my Sugar Glider! This is truly the best care I have ever experienced from a Veterinarian's office for any of my pets. Thank you so much for for doing such a great job and helping my little Sugar feel better!

I love Dr Lail. She has always taken the time with Nugget that I needed and answered our questions. There have been several times I needed Nugget to be seen for puppy concerns and they have always worked her in that day. As a growing Boxer Puppy, they have me bring her in every month for weight check (no charge) to be sure her heartworm and flea/tick meds are appropriate for her weight. AND the staff is awesome!

Dr. Lail and her staff are by far the best I’ve ever experienced. I’ve had to put down two dogs in the past. This past Thursday I had to put down my angle Havaneses Willy. He was almost 14. From the moment I walked in the door my daughter and I were treated like family. From the Dr. to the techs to the receptionist. They were all amazing and loving. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience having to put my baby down. He was so loved by the entire staff!!
