Most recently the staff took extremely compassionate care of my dog when she was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately had to be put to sleep. I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Not only did it take THREE PHONE CALLS to get ANYONE to call me back over the span of TWO DAYS regarding a simple prescription fill, but these fools have the fattest, fluffiest cat roaming the office. Do people in veterinary medicine not understand how common it is for dog owners to be allergic to cats? My allergy is so severe that I could not enter the building, and when my fiance called to try to work something out to get my dog the prescription that she needs, he was met with a brick wall of "sorry, can't help," and even more infuriatingly, a snotty rebuttal of "well, we offered to put up the cat." I ask again at the risk of sounding like a broken record---do people in veterinary medicine not understand how cat allergies work? My dog is up-to-date at our home vet in Florida, and since moving here, it has been a scramble to try to find a vet. She needs a simple a prescription that is not even six months old and requires no blood work and no exam to refill. The level of incompetence at this place is astounding, and they just lost two patients over it.

The doctors and staff of Friarsgate Animal Hospital are wonderful. Everyone is very kind, compassionate and reassuring. Drs. Hurst and Glenn went above and beyond to ensure that our dog received the best possible care. They did everything they could to make sure the necessary procedures were done as safely as possible, as well as in the way that would be easiest on our dog. Both doctors took the time to personally call and explain the procedures and answer all of our questions. They really understand that our pets are part of our families.

The lack of professionalism at this veterinary clinic is astounding. I took my dog in to get a routine vaccine, a DHPP booster. The vet tech Amy gave my dog an unauthorized Leptospirosis vaccine. I say unauthorized because I was very clear when I came in about what vaccine I wanted, which was DHPP. Nothing else. When I went to pay the bill I found out my dog had been given the Lepto Booster as well, without any consultation or authorization from me. I do not give my dog multiple vaccines at the same time and I defer several other vaccines until he is older. The reason for this is that Irish Setters are prone to Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD). One of the possible causes of this disease has been the timing and amount of vaccinations given to the dog. Hence, I am very careful about what vaccines I give my dog and when they are given. This concern aside, I find it astounding that any medical practitioner, either human or animal, would treat or give a prescription drug without consultation or authorization. The Lepto vaccine is not even a core vaccine! Plus, the Lepto vaccine can have a host of side effects depending on the breed or other course of treatment the animal might be undertaking. You just do not shoot animals up with drugs with conferring with the owner first! What really amazed me was the lack of concern expressed by the staff upon being informed of their screw up. I have filed a complaint with the licensing board against Friarsgate and the vet Steven E. Glenn. I strongly recommend that you not take your animal to this facility.

The staff is very stand offish. The doctor is not very knoledgable on pregnant dogs. Was very rude when he found out that we were not going to get our female spayed, we were sent a letter releasing us from being patients. Thats fine!
