The staff at Povar is always very courteous and prompt. I have been taking my cat to them for over 12 years and have never had any issues. Dr. Worhunsky always follows up anytime there is an issue and goes above and beyond what she should do.

Where shall we go to the VCA animal place we take our dog Jo Jo bear of a time when he needs help lately he actually had heart worms and I had great treatments and we did some of mit home and some meth a doctors office now is going into another phase to get rid of them darn thanks I just feel so badd with him having them

First - notice how some of the negative reviews are written in the poorest of English... so those probably aren't legit. anyways, I have been taking my dog there for a while now, and the entire staff of receptionists and doctors have been great. Any issue I have had with my dog has been dealt with efficiently and cheaply. I like the overall approach that they have based on the severity of the situation, either decisive action or wait and see. My dog is older, and has had a variety of untreated problems over the years, but when I got her and brought her to the vet - problems solved, without spending a fortune on "exploratory surgeries". thank you Povar.

I brought both of my dog's here for a long time now I've had some interesting experiences such as the time they left the condom my dog's butt when they use a thermometer and I didn't notice until I got home but they're pretty good Animal Hospital.

They have been the most passionate caring doctors and staff! My cat Martini passed last evening, but about an hour before he passed he became very sick and was actively dying. I noticed it was 6:53pm and the animal hospital closes at 7:00pm, so I frantically called the animal hospital, the woman (my angel) who answered explained they were closing and offered me options to go to a 24 hour Animal Hospital, she then stated the doctor is still there and to come in they will stay open for me. I arrived within few minutes to a warming staff, no one was mad, no one seemed inconvenienced that I was keeping them late. Instead, I was told take all the time you need to grieve with my cat before he would be placed asleep. Dr. Pyun administered a sedative, and let me comfort him as she prepared for his dose of peace. As, I was comforting him and crying my cat passed away in my arms, before he even received the 2nd shot from the Dr. The Dr. Pyun and vet tech came back in comforting me again, and reassured me by telling me “take all the time you need we are staying open and will be here for you until you are ready to part with Martini” I was alone with my cat lifeless in my arms, but, I felt at peace and safe with staff. This hospital went above and beyond with Martini’s care and aftercare, I’m so grateful they were there for me at my worst moment and welcomed me with open arms!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I am so fed up with the terrible customer service at vca povar. Karen the receptionist was incredibly rude on the phone and in person. They never notified me that my cat was due for immunizations, and when I asked why I wasn’t contacted I just got a shrug and an “I don’t know” thanks that’s really helpful, my outdoor cat is overdue for his vaccines!!! Not to mention they are wayyyy overpriced and they’re always trying to upsell. Never going back to this vet again.

Great vet care! We've been taking our dog here since we got her as a puppy last summer and they have always been kind, patient, and informative. The prices seemed high to me at first, but after shopping around I found they were comparable to other Providence-area vets, and they never push any services or products on you. Dr. Worhunsky is the best!

This is ridiculously expensive and we are unimpressed. Their doctor checked our dog's ears and I suspect the instrument was dirty from a previous patient. Our dog came down with an ear issue within 2 weeks and having already spent $700 to have him seen, I asked them to give us an ear cleaner we have used in the past and they refused to provide it to us without yet another visit. I called our previous vet in Missouri who was happy to ship it to me. We have 3 animals and it was $700 for them to see only 1 of them. We will not be returning. I have had many vets in my years of pet ownership and I have never had such a terrible experience. Buyer beware.

Forst time appointment they were very accomidating and offer a forst time vist for free just vist the website i couldnt reccommend them enough! Offer is also peanut free or the areas we were in which was an extra reift as i had my childnin toe and she will go right into anaphylactic shook upon a peanut treat bag opening into the air.

We have been clients with Povar Animal Hospital since 1975 when we moved to R.I. During that time, we have had Delilah, who lived to be 22 y.o. We adopted an abused Great Pyrenees dog, Sasha, who was with us until she was 9-1/2 due to liver disease probably from her former owners, Next, we were the luckiest owners of Breezee who was kind enough to follow her mom (me) each time we went to N.H. to visit. She was blessed to live 12 wonderful years and was Sasha's niece. Since our breeder was no longer breeding, we contacted the President of N.E.Pyrenees who happily sold us our Isabella, who was great as long as no one tried trimming her feet! She passed on Good Friday in 2005. April school vacation came, and we felt ready for a new puppy! I found Golden Retrievers living in R.I.who had 17 pups and felt they needed a forever family--something I thought they might not get. We got 1 Male,CrackerJack (mama's boy) and Sassafrass, our glorious girl--who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2014. Under VCAs' very concerned care, Sassy LIVES ON! Jack was recently named Pet of the Week at VCA Povar. We are so proud of our pets and our VETS...Bless them all and bless our pets.! !

We have been coming here a little over a year now, with a booster appt and an "emergency" visit in that mix. The receptionists, vets and techs have always been polite, knowledgeable and listened to my concerns. The prices are on par with other local vets and they are always honest about scheduling and great about not only mailed reminders, but texted ones just in case. I am so glad we chose them when I first got my rescue, originally just chosen for the convenient location, I am glad we stuck with them.

We have been going to vca povar for just about 4 years. They have provided impeccable treatment for our dog, both when he was healthy and once when he had scary unexplained pain. I received calls directly from his vet (Dr. Pyun) who was warm, knowledgeable, and supportive. The front desk staff is amazing, as well, especially Tabatha and the male (sorry I forget your name!). We just moved away and I am incredibly sad to have to leave this wonderful practice behind. Not only did our dog not mind going to the vet, he loved it! I hope we find a place half as good where we now live.

If I could give 0 stars, I would! I unfortunately made the mistake of booking an annual exam for my dog and from the very beginning it was very evident my dog and I were merely cost centers. Absolutely no flexibility with the appointment time when I asked for a few extra minutes due to traffic. I was told there was only the option to reschedule. Then when I checked I was asked to sign a consent accepting that I agreed to allow the hospital to perform whatever procedures they deemed necessary while my dog was here. I didn’t and still don’t feel comfortable waiving my right to make decisions on behalf of my pet and informed the hospital manager of this and was told that “if I didn’t feel comfortable allowing the hospital to have the right to make those decisions” they couldn’t see my pet. I’m sure this is not only highly unethical but may even border on illegal. The whole process and place makes me feel as if the main focus here is the bottom line and if you’re unwilling to give this scam of a place free reign to rack up the bill, they want nothing to do with you. My advice for anyone who cares about their pet, stay far, far away!
