The genuine care of the staff for us and their ability to calm our 16 year old cat ornery cat was impressive. He was taken in because he wasn't eating well and was spending much of his day hanging around the water bowl. Some basic, in house, blood work, turns out he's diabetic. Their diligence and patience with us (and our neuroticism) over the course of a few weeks and Cranky is back to his ol' curmudgeony self. No unecessary tests or indirect answers. Two follow up visits and all is good.

Everything was fine waiting to take my pet in to be seen,but the way my pet was handled not only hurt my pet but also scared him so badly that he quickly clumbed up my chest onto my shoulder almost up on top of my head trying to get away from the Vet assistant, she a very horrible way of grabbing cats so the vet can examine them, almost ripped my pour cats fur & skin off his neck so mean, I tryed to stop her but they wouldnt let me they told me not to touch my cat he might bite me. Eather get a new assistant or learn how to handle cats, my cat is very loving and he did not need to be treated in such a horrible way that has terrified him. I will never take my cat back to this vet unless her assistant is removed and replaced with some one that actually knows how to handle cats the right way

Over the years my wife and I have taken our various cats to several Vet clinics in South County area. South Bay Veterinary Clinic has been our home for several years now. We cannot say enough how pleased we are to have found them. Dr. Bowater is highly skilled and caring and her staff professional and courteous. They will see a sick or injured kitty without delay and ease any suffering and worry on both the pet's and owner's part. We really appreciate being informed when procedures need to be done and find the charges reasonable. We would recommend South Bay Vet Clinic to anyone.

I could not be happier with all of my experiences at South Bay Vet Clinic. Dr. Bowater and staff. They are always so caring and professional. I recently brought my cat, Lucy in for a dental cleaning. They offered an excellent price (National Dental Month). They put in the effort to call me the night before to remind me that she couldn't eat or drink after 8. They also called me the day after the procedure to check in on how she was doing. Those extra touches reassured me. I am so grateful for ladies at South Bay Vet Clinic!

Honestly not impressed - when walking in, the place smelled extremely strong of perfume. Turns out it was a candle had been burning, although it made the office appear to “smell/be” clean it wasn’t! I understand having pets in and out all the time but it was disturbing. Fur everywhere, didn’t even look like they wipe or sanitized the table in the room where my dog was seen. And don’t even get me started on the Cat that just walking around on whatever it wants(including the counter with a burning candle- super unsafe). Unless that candle was burning it would have smelt horrible in that place. Wishing I had brought my dog somewhere else, not worth the money for a 6minute visit as well. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!

Dirty, selfish and incompetence. 2 weeks ago I brought in my 10 year old German Sheppard, Mishka. She was low weight and her ribs were showing. I was concerned about EPI and wanted to know if tests were warranted. I was told no, and her weight loss was "normal" and then sold a ear cleaner that I could have bought at the store for half the price. A week later my dog died, from the very condition I was concerned about and learned about after a 30 second search on google. Do not go to this vet. Tell your friends to not go to this vet. If I had the money I would press charges for medical incompetence. Do not trust these people with your pet, period. ::Edit:: I wasn't the one who payed the bill. I was just the one that had to clean up the blood that came pouring out of my dog's mouth and anus. Do you not keep record of your dog's name? Mishka, a 10 year old German Sheppard with socail problems. You had to clear the waiting room. Ring a bell? I don't want money, I'm not seeking any legal action. I just wanted others to know.

My son Anthony and I have taken our Beagle Myllo to South Bay for years. We are always greeted and Myllo receives prompt and proper attention. We found the fees to be reasonable and the staff caring. We travel with Myllo. This usually requires some pre-planing and lab test to be completed and forwarded to the proper places well in advance as well as a pretrip prep visit. I found the staff very willing to help. We recommend South Bay to anyone seeking assistance with their animals.

Dr. Bowater and her staff are amazing! They are always super friendly and answer all my questions. They are honest and extremely thorough with exams and my giant dog loves going in for visits! The vet techs are always so helpful when I call with smaller issues. They give great advice and let me know when a smaller issue could turn into a bigger one that would require a visit. I would highly recommend this team to anybody!

I don’t like having to wait more than 30 minutes to see the vet. That has been my experience every time I bring the dogs in, whether in the morning or afternoon, I always have to wait with one or two nervous dogs for at least 1/2 hour. Otherwise the office staff are nice, and the veterinarian is great.

Thank god for this place. We are from MA and came to RI for our vacation and my french bulldog had a reaction to something resulting in a swollen face. I was in a panic, called the office and they saw her immediately. They treated her and she was back to normal within a couple of hours. Life saver!!!

Dr. Caroline Bowater is the most personable, kind, dedicated and honest Veterinarian that I know. Before I found her office I had visited another Vet with my rabbit, King Arthur. They had barely looked at him before shooing me out the door. I had a totally different experience at South Bay. I feel welcome in the office and part of a community through their Facebook page and blog. Dr. Bowater always let's me know exactly what is going on with any of my animals. Horrible experience! Do not bring your pet to South Bay Vets. Ocean State Veterinary hospital saved my pup's life after many visits to this vet when he was sick! This vet diagnosed his condition to be a thyroid problem. After bringing him there many times I brought him back again to find a vet covering for Caroline Bowater who immediately referred my pup to the Ocean State Veterinary Hospital. Through x rays the hospital found that he had ingested foreign objects in his stomach and intestine. He had surgery to his stomach and had 6" of his intestine removed. After the surgery I was told by a vet at the hospital that he may not make it. Thankfully these wonderful vets at the hospital did a fabulous job of helping my pup and released him after about a week. I then brought him to a vet in South Kingstown which has been absolutely wonderful. If you love your pets please do not take him to the South Bay Veterinary clinic. It is important to always look up a vets credentials. We are blessed to have many competent caring vets in the area please choose another for your pets sake and for yours. When I look back I know that I was too emotionally upset to take legal action. Now I do regret that. She should not be in practice.

As far as pricing goes, I have gone to vets with overly high prices, but as far as I can tell, this place is reasonable. We appreciate the time that she spends explaining so we understand our situation and our options. The staff is always courteous and knowledgeable and we love the care that they give to our dogs. I have had dogs and cats almost all my life. I have never had a veterinary clinic I have loved more. The vet techs are fabulous. They all take a personal interest in their patients and their owners and are more than helpful. They care and will do just about anything to accommodate their clients' needs. Several times, they have come in on their own time to let me know test results or take a needed test. Dr. Bowater is the same. She is outstanding in her profession and good natured with a great sense of humor. When my dog had her first litter, Dr. Bowater came to the house to check the pups and give them shots. The second litter was a little more complicated. When my dog was in labor that did not seem to progress, she had us come to her clinic and when it was determined that a section was needed, not only did she deliver all the puppies safe and sound, but she remained calm and consoling when I was crazed. I love everyone at this practice and would recommend them to anyone. You couldn't do better!

I recently suspected my dog had a UTI and not only did they get me in next day at a time that worked for me, but they also tested his urine while I waited for our appointment. When it turned out everything was fine they were all so sweet and professional, there is nowhere else I will ever bring my dog.
