REVIEWS OF Mass-RI Veterinary ER IN Rhode Island

Good service.

Madeline Montgomery

I can’t overstate how wonderful our experience with Mass-RI Vet ER has been. Our cat was there for nine nights. All the staff - receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians - are so caring and compassionate. Everyone who interacted with our cat so obviously adored animals and their jobs. The techs and vets took the time to answer all our questions and discuss all our options at every step of the process. The receptionists and techs made every effort to address all our financial concerns. And the staff have continued to be available to answer questions and assuage our worries since our cat was discharged. Seriously, I hope you never need to take a pet to the ER, but I’d you do, I hope you take them here.

Ryan Connell

"Dr." Deroscher is as incompetent as the equipment they used to examine our dog. Had to be taken to a back room to view the X-rays as the viewer in the room was broken. The "Dr." claimed that she couldn't see anything in the X-ray and that something may be lodged in her throat. Well, gee, thanks doc! I could have GUESSED something like that myself, and it wouldn't have cost $300+ dollars to tell you. These people are complete ripoffs. Also, the tone that the "Dr." spoke was very condescending. All she wanted to do was run more and more tests, so that she could say that they were inconclusive as well. Save yourself the money and just go to Vitality Vet clinic. If you want to throw your cash away, I'm happy to take it from you.

Rachel Duarte

I can not thank the vets and all the staff here enough. They saved my son's service animal's life

Dawn Landry

Great job they did for my cat

jewels z

When any Animal e.r. is more concerned with showing you a price list of options they can preform on your pet instead of actually diagnosing your pet first in the e.r. they are in the wrong business. Never again!

Hilda Troche

Clean...fast ..friend..reasonable prizes...thank you for making Elena feel better..

This place is great, took excellent care of my dog.

Barbara Medeiros

If they had 10 stars I would give it to them!! The care was fantastic, They are there for the animals, not the wallet lining! They provided the most compassionate care while being affordable. Had I stayed in RI for emergency care I would still be in tears not knowing what to do for my pup. Because of them & Titan Vet Clinic on Airport Rd, in Warwick my pup is sitting on my lap, after less than 24 hours after being seen and having successful surgery. Cannot express my gratitude enough!

Luke Allard

Consistently good service, efficient and prompt. Never want to go here (it's an ER!), but glad to have it local.

This veterinary clinic does not care what is best for the life of your animal, but is only concerned with what is best for their bottom line. They prey upon the emotions of pet owners, attempting to milk every emotionally charged dollar, out of every emotionally distraught, and temporarily irrational human. My female great dane had been fixed and had her stomach stapled on tuesday. On thursday the suture started to bleed, my wife got upset and against my advice brought our dog to this clinic. They saw how emotional she was, and knowing exactly what the issue was, suggested another surgery. My wife then called me to advise me of their recommendation, to which i refused. After a $400 bill ($52 of which was a $5 cvs bandage wrap anyone could do themselves), the vet who performed the surgery assured us it was basic drainage to due hyperactivity post-surgery. If you can think rationally and put emotion aside, wait til YOUR vet is open. They will only look for every opening, to drain every possible cent, out of your fear. Just as I stated to them over the phone, i will never use their services again.

I brought my 16 month old German Shepherd with classical symptoms of pancreatitis, which I learned after I took him to Tufts Vet Hospital in Walpole. They conducted Barium Study, Lyme Disease Panel and tests for Addison’s. All negative. On the third day he appeared better and was discharged. They talked me out of transferring him to Tufts because since it was a Sunday Murphy would not get an emergency ultrasound since it wasn’t an emergency. The morning after I let Murphy run with friends in that I was told Murphy was fine. I called my veterinarian Dr Krane who told me that I needed to immediately take Murphy to Tufts. Within three minutes at Tufts, Dr Hammond told me Murphy had either pancreatitis or a blockage. RI Mass told me they could find nothing wrong with Murphy after having three days and $1800. Dr Hammond was disappointed Murphy was not diagnosed or sent to Tufts immediately. Incompetence comes to mind and gross negligence in the care of Murphy. DO NOT BRING YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER TO RI MASS VET HOSPITAL. I care less about their expensive treatment but I do care about their inability to diagnose my dog with a life threatening Illness after having him three days and having authority to run any test possible. Take your dog to ocean state or Tufts if you must take your dog a 24/7 care facility since you’ll get competent and effective care

Dave Corr

I recently had to take my baby Pickles here and the staff was perfect. They allowed me to take her to a private room and spend her last moments with me. Thank you.

Lorie Ganem

They where great with my dog Oscar and very patient with him as well .also very reasonable price

Christian LaSalle

Brought our cat in at 2 am after 5 hours of intermittent vomiting. Staff, techs, and Docs were great. Quick X-rays, blood work, next day ultrasound. Discovered foreign body in his stomach. Surgery, post op care, and home w/in 36 hours. Truly amazing folks. Caring, professional, state of the art facility close by. Can’t say enough great things about them. Dr. Burling’s quick and exacting diagnostic and triage skills along with Dr. DesRocher’s excellence and precision in surgery saved his life!! Expensive, sure, it is emergency care-Worth every penny. If you need emergency services for your pet on the south coast, there is NO better place. Again, thank you all for everything

I took a very sick cat in to be euthanized. He had been sick for several weeks and was unable to eat or drink. They said he looked fine and refused to euthanize him .he didn't look fine he looked sick and he was suffering so I had to go home with him and have him go through the night sick. He cried in pain all through the night. I went to doctor Finnocchio the following day. His hind legs were completely paralyzed by then. who said he had a blood clot and needed to be euthanized immediately. I had gone to mass Rhode island veterinary for many years , but will be many years before I would go back there my cat had to suffer all night because of that so called vet. What cat who cannot put his head down to a bowl to eat or drink and goes to the bathroom all over himself looks fine. I think the vet who said this got his lisence in a gumball machine and I think he is a danger to all animals entering that hospital.

Richmond White

Amazing to have a vet ER in Swansea. Very intelligent caring staff. The place is very money motivated. I understand they need money run and everything, but there's are pets/family members.

Cynthia Osorio Florez

Food, prices, service, atmosphere, all subpar and very disappointing.

Jetta Rue

They genially care for the animals and are very skilled at their jobs. They are a reliable and trustworthy emergency vet. Highly recommended.

Robert William Rosa

Has taken very good care of my Cat, Redondo. Would definitely recommend.

Peter Tran

They take care of your pets like if they were their own.

Peter McConnell

Very friendly, took the time to care and explain, highly recommend

Amie Rossi

I'm a vet tech and this was the first time I wasn't able to care for my own pets. They took such good care of my Lily. They called me and updated me frequently. The techs and doctors gave her love and such great care. I've had to go a couple times for emergency and have always been treated with compassion.

Mark Daguanno

Last week we brought in our new puppy because he was vomiting and had diarrhea. Granted the symptoms looked like parvovirus with blood in the diarrhea. They gave him a snap text to test for parvovirus. The test came out positive. The vet tech told of it was a hundred percent positive no mistake. She then told us it would cost three to five thousand to treat the disease and he would have to be quarantine immediately. After telling her we didn’t have the money for the treatment she said you could sign over the puppy to a animal rescue and walk away from him completely. The next thing she told us is we wouldn’t even be able to call the to see how he was doing. Well bottom line is this pup just came from a Well know Breeder with champion blood lime he is a 15 week old German Shepherd. We contacted the Breeder and he told us no parvovirus was not on him property. Pup was returned and pup was tested at our vet two days later with a stool sample and a complete check no parvovirus was detected all test were negative. This is after the vet tech told us he would be dead in two days if we took him home. Puppy is doing great no issues at all. I had to write this to let people the parvovirus snap test is not always accurate. The way we were treated that night she caused stress and panic and we almost signed over our pup. I would not recommend this place do to the way we were treated at all.

Stella Rose

Best er vet around I would not go anywhere else

Allison Gross

Awesome 24 hour care. Thank you for your care for Charlie

Nathan Justa

This place saved my cats life. One day she was fine and the next day she couldn't walk. They diagnosed her in 30 minutes and were 100% on point. She has severe renal problems and I never knew. She was so anemic she was on the verge of having problems breathing. Her other vet never picked up on it. After 6 very anxious days she came home. Tonight is the second night home and she is happy and doing well. We have a long road ahead of her with long term care required, which they made very clear. They treated my princess as the princess she is. I would recommend this place to everyone. My cat Trinity will be forever greatful to this place and I will never forget the kindness and professionalism shown.

Carol Batchelder

Was so relieved to have our dog's problem thoroughly and carefully examined and explained. Found staff and the Vet helpful, kind and genuinely concerned. Care was prompt and excellent!

Linda Pinault

They took great care of our pet and comforted us when they couldn't save her

Candace Perreira

I had a very good experience here despite my situation. I had a very sick , seven year old ferret that I had to make the difficult descision to put her down. I was a complete wreck, and not in a good place, they were so comforting and sympathetic. They even made me a beautiful mold of my precious Maisies paw that I will treasure always. This place is open 24 hrs so if you have a situation where your vet is closed which happened in my situation, this place is great. Would highly recommend this place!!!

Nicolas Rochester

One of the best animal hospitals I've ever been to. Through years with the pets I have had whenever something went wrong it would be here that I would seek help first the staff is caring and compassionate, never misleading in prices and always looking for the best options for the animal they had helped guide the care of my pets though the medical issues they suffered and eventually helped ease the passing of another If you want your pet to be looked after and in the hands of professionals who care and love animals and will do everything they can to help save your pet and recover from whatever is wrong this is the place to go thank you for your final service to me and my family R.I.P Max

linda hordern

They have been there for me when I had to put down my kitty and my dog and they are the most compassionate people I have ever met

Gerald Niles

Our pup had a 2 night visit, the staff was knowledgeable and caring. It was expensive but it is an ER staffed 24 hrs, the rates are probably comparable to other ER's. We are glad that our pup received the care he needed

Deborah M White

Very Helpful 24hrs a day. Courteous & Friendly.

kayla james

Extremely expensive and offer no financing so you're expected to pay thousands of dollars upfront. Staff was kind and compassionate and were amazing when we decided to put our cat to sleep.

john araujo

My dog wasn’t right and seemed very uncomfortable during the night so my wife and I decided to come to this place well wrong choice we should of went somewhere else. They did a quick exam and gave us pain meds and sent us on our way which wasn’t needed and misdiagnosed her. They didn’t do a thorough examination, no labs etc. The next we took our dog to her regular veterinarian and they did a thorough examination, took xrays, did a urinalysis and found that she had a UTI. She was put on antibiotics right away not pain meds and she is feeling and doing great. You mean to tell me that this place couldn’t have done the same thing? If you have a choice please go somewhere else. This was our first time here and our experience here sucked!

Jennifer Lopez

Nicole Prestipino

I have used this animal hospital on a few occasions, from some what minor emergencies, to life or death emergencies and the staff is always amazing! Yesterday I had to put my 12 year old dog down

Darlene Oloughlin

I can't stress enough the compassion we were given when we had to bring our 15 year old cat to have him put down. I really felt that they felt our pain and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to him. I would highly recommend them.

Danielle Fournier

I cannot say enough how kind and compassionate all the staff from reception, to techs, to the doctor were. They made a truly difficult time for me and my son a little more bearable with their patience and exceptional bedside manor.

robert vitullo

Thank You All For Being So Kind And Caring In The Passing Of My Cat Buttons .

Charlie Mello

Bad experience. My poor pup was basically held for ransom untill I came up with 500+ dollars on a Sunday evening emergency visit. He was suffering and ended up being put down. Shame on you. Money before care and compassion.

Brandy Alexandria

Emergency visit, very polite and helpful during a very sad time

Wendy Farias

My 5 year old cat was diagnosed with urinary stones & was constipated as well. The staff was great, very comforting & understanding. Made a really bad night a little better!

M S

They have a good staff. They are a 24 hour emergency care so someone is always available. They give good care.

Rachel Cobbett

A very caring and compassionate place. When we brought our 19 yr old cat, Smokey, in it was clear to us that it was her time. As heart breaking and difficult as it was, they were all so kind, patient and loving to both us and Smokey. They helped us through that difficult time, we greatly appreciate it! We would highly recommend Mass-RI Veterinary ER.

Joshua DeFreitas

They took good care of my girl when my normal vet was closed.

Susana Lambert

I hate having to go there but I am grateful that they're always available when our puppy has needed to go.

T M

Mass RI Veterinary E.R. was wonderful! We were planning for surgery. The x-ray revealed some additional complications for our 14-year-old dog. They were honest and compassionate. They allowed me time to make my decision. The Vet was excellent and processed my options with me! Sorry I can't recall Vet’s name to place it here. She was kind and caring. In the end I had to put my dog down. Mass RI E.R. even provided me with a paw print for my daughter who was not there with me at the time. We also received a sweet card in the mail. Thank you!

Rae ranawayagain

Very nice people. My visited wasn't a pleasant one as I was there to put an animal to rest. They were very gracious and gave me the respect, time and privacy afterwards to collect myself. Highly recommend.

Steve C

Everyone was friendly to deal with. They were very attentive to our concerns with our dog.

Donna Meunier

During a very difficult time..the staff and dr were very compassionate understanding and caring..did not rush us and gave us time to say good by to our pet...

Jonny Bingo

My second and last time coming here. Seems they only care about money. They don't diagnose. They just charge u for every test in the book.both times I went. The drs was arrogant and.noncompassinate. They lost my buisness and will tell family and friends not to go

Tracy Carvalho

The staff was wonderfully compassionate and caring when we were there to put out 13 year old lab down. Would highly recommend them

Sara Bryant

Very attentive and gentle with animals

Warren DeMontegue

They were extremely nice to me and my kitten

LilyMarlaina

We went right in, didnt have to wait. Good job helping my little dog. I have been bringing all sorts if animals to this animal hospital. They h ve always done well by whatever animal that I needed help with. Its a good place for emergencies as well. They have always been fair with me and taken good care of whatever I needed help rehabilitating. I dont know if they are still treating wildlife or not, its been a while since I lived in that area.

Kimberly White

My cat had a small asthma attack and they decided I needed to leave her there in an oxygen cage for over 36 hours. I believe they suggested that because it would cost about $1000. All they care about is money, the doctor that I dealt with has horrible bedside manner on the phone. They lied to me about when I could taker her home. And they do not care about what is best for the animals. Go to bay state, they are so much nicer and truly care about your pets.

Cynthia Slobogan

worst experience ever. I rescue animals for a living also am a vet tech and signed a paper to get a discount because of being a vet tech. I rescued a kitten and I use air wick in my house to make it smell good with having many rescues you want to do everything you can. on air wicks part the had a malfunction with the product and the oils where all on the outside. I never knew this till I went to change this I saw the kitten "Minnie" on my bed laying down acting weird but thought he was just sick till I went to change the air wick in my room and had oils all over my hand. my daughter and I quickly gave him a bath and we got him to vomit. I was on the phone with poison control and even have a case against air wick now. I rushed him to this vet and there where so inconsiderate there is a lady there named "Nichole" I have never met someone so careless In my life. 1) they strongly believed my cat was going to die because he would either end up having a seizer or having pheunomia and I needed 75% of $1000 for them to care for him which being a rescue and single mother I don't have on me and they wouldn't do a payment plan 2) they knew this kitten was suffering and they didn't even offer to euthanize him they just wanted $1000 from me for him to suffer and end up dying 3) when they finally decided to give me my kitten back they threw the kitten in my daughters arms and they where complaining that he had a very low body temperature and we brought him in with a blanket and "Nichole" wanted to send him home without it so he could get even colder. 4) the lady was laughing in my face saying even the hospital you have to pay for or they won't care for you which is false because you have medical or they bill you. 5) The lady was trying to say I don't care about animals when I rescue ALL animals in any situation and I asked what they do for animals they see on the side of the rode. she replied " we don't want to see them suffer we call the humane society and put them down" that is how they care for animals it could be even 1 hour old and the mother could have just abandoned it and they would euthanize it and not give it a chance, it could have just a fracture and they wouldn't even try to help it at least I will do my hardest. 6) all i had was $50 and it is 75% of their $95 visit charge then they refused to take my money and I work at animal associates and she made me sign a paper so I get a discount I did not get any discount. and then sent me a final notice to pay it all at once or it will be sent to collection and I didn't even get a first notice. this vet is full of inconsiderate people and is a joke I highly suggest going to Bay State Veterinary Emergency Services they are so much more respectful and caring and they actually work with you and are reasonable. I wish I went there but I was a mess and crying and was not thinking straight. R.I.P Minnie at least he passed away with a family who truly cares about him very much and we got to burry him properly like he deserved. you will definitely be missed Minnie.

marlene kennedy

Great experience, great staff in and out in a jiffy will definitely go back

Rodney Hall

Very clean and the Staff were very pleasant and Caring... The Doctor was Excellent....

Luz Gonzalez

They so care for your pets. Great people here.

Chris Lewis

Our dog has been there twice due to being bitten by another dog. The care received at Mass-RI was outstanding and the price reasonable. We will definitely be returning for future ER needs.

Chris Corrado

I have a 3 year old male kitty that recently experienced a blockage. MassRI was the closest 24hr clinic to my location, so I brought him here for evaluation and recovery. Overall this place was one of the nicest vet experiences I've had (I've only ever owned cats). The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Truly they saved his life. He's back to playing fetch about a week after the operation. Be prepared to bring $$$, as the services are not cheap, but certainly under the right circumstances they are effective and worth it.

Jessica Polesel

I cannot recommend them enough. It’s been about a year and a half since they saved my dog’s life after an incident that caused severe damage to my dogs liver. Everyone here is so patient and caring and treat your pet with the love and kindness as if it was their own. They explained everything that was going on and all of the possible outcomes good and bad. They provided me with updates everyday during his week long stay and were very patient and caring with me during one of the toughest times I’ve been through almost losing my dog. Your pet will be in the best care here.

fadfa asdfae

I wouldn't recommend going there. If youre trying to help your pet, I wouldnt go there. They didnt seem to offer enough other options besides euthanasia, and I think that it would be better to go to a different veterinary place, so that you dont regret having your pet put to sleep unnecessarily.

Mickey Johnston

Amazing staff helped out and answered all the million questions I answered throughout the 3 days my puppy was there. Also not to pricey they defiantly work with you .

James Christensen

Very friendly staff helps when you bring your pet thats in need of emergency services

Ashley

Places like these charge crazy prices for emergency visit.

Shannon Harrower-Nakama

Our dog had a late-night episode we thought could be a seizure. Techs and doc were all very attentive and caring, and we only paid about $120 for visit, exam, and meds. Would definitely rely on them again.

john pereira

Thank you for your compassion that you showed my wife and I today. Thank you for caring for our beloved Banjo. Thank you for allowing my wife to be there at his last moments although I could not do it. Dr. Kennedy thank you for taking the time with my wife and caring for a boy. And to carry thank you so much for your patience. You folks were phenomenal this morning.

nicholas howes

#1 for emergency medical treatment for animals

none doe

Cost me $329 for my cat i needed follow up they said save more money i can't beleave these places what is wrong with u ppl!! U take my money for not even half what i ask for

Lindsay Davis

I would not recommend them to anyone Yes there convenient when other vets are booked or not open but they are so expensive and they did a horrible job with my puppy. They supposingly took xrays but couldn't see the marble my puppy pooped out 4 hours after we left vet. She has not been right since they took blood work from 1 of her hind legs they did it in both but only 1 she favors and has a hard time walking.

Kerri Baggesen

Thank you for being so compassionate when I showed up at 4am having to euthanize my cat. The price was so much lower than I was expecting, which helped to alleviate a stressful situation.

Ken Alegria

24 hr emergency vetinary care at relatively reasonable prices. Staff cares about their customers. Excellent surgery staff who returned $500 after an easier than expected toe surgery on my 220 lb large breed Great Dane. One of the few facilities than are equipped to even handle a 220 lb dog....

Katie Martins

Thank God for this place and their staff! Awesome nurses and doctors, really kept me informed about my pups condition and treatment. Cannot thank them enough

Lisa Alves

My fur baby passed away. I was so bad and didn't know what to do. I called the hospital at 5am, they told me to bring him in and tried calming me. When I got there, they were so friendly and tried calming me once again. Thank you to all that helped me through this difficult time :(

EricKa N. Gon

Very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, thoughtful & state of the art equipment..... Sad to say taken 6 pets (cats & dogs) to them. Won't go anywhere else in an emergency

Donald Horton

Outstanding

Diane Oconnor

They are amazing. I had an emergency with my dog and I was frantic.. They were so nice and understanding. They didn't charge me an arm and a leg. They ran only the test needed to diagnose my dog's problem. I will definitely take my fur baby back again

john gagliardi

Very pleased with my visit and the care thank you

Meredith C

I called their main number seeking advice after coming home to find that my dog had eaten about a pound of dark chocolate. They gave information about the level of risk (severe), and gave step by step instructions on what I should do. The tech who I spoke with on the phone helped us induce vomiting at home and told us to come in right away, which we did. When we got there, she was there to continue our dog's care and we never had to repeat the same information twice; everyone on the staff was given the background information so we didn't have to constantly tell different staff members how much he ate, how much he weighs, how long since he ate the chocolate, etc. The vet techs were very helpful, calm and kind. The vet that we saw gave us a rundown of the treatment options, including price estimates. I did not feel that they tried to "up sell" us at all. We went for the lower cost option and they were fine with that and hopped right into action, never once trying to convince us to spend the extra $500 at their facility. Once the dog received his treatments at the facility, they sent us home with step by step, specific instructions, including a walk schedule and a target heart rate so we could monitor the dog closely overnight. Most importantly, our dog's life was saved. He is typically very anxious and squirmy at the vet, but the techs here were able to keep him calm and he did not squirm or cry. Everyone answered every question we had with patience, understanding and a ton of knowledge. Very smart staff. I will absolutely bring my pets here should another emergency situation arise. HIGHLY recommended!

Peter Medeiros

This place tries to scam you into leaving your pet. Their answers to my questions were ambiguous and they charge more than double the local veterinarian for surgeries. Also, they made rude remarks about my veterinarian, "You get what you pay for". This is example of a poor display of their professionalism.

Sarah Laurianno

I am absolutely disgusted with the fact that I chose to have my dog not cared for here and to go to another hospital so they wouldn’t have my dog dissected and sent to a lab like a high school frog. One of the technicians decided to listen to my families conversation as to where to take my dog who’s back legs no longer worked and call the hospital he was eventually sent to. This is completely out of line and clearly no compassion for the animal or the family trying to have him well taken care of. I will never ever take another pet here again

Jim Meister

Very compassionate.

Eddie Williams

Tinkerbell got her ultrasound here everything came back fine

JoAnne Bergeron

They were very compassionate when my dog died. They are an ER so it will be expensive. This is not the place to take your Pets for checkups, just life and death emergencies.

Faith Latessa

Great service, friendly

Lindy Langlois

They took such great care of my Jax! Too great care after his emergency surgery ! I will forever be great ful to them for saving my baby

Paul Joncas

Without writing a book about the care and staff, everything was excellent and they were honest about what was best for my dog and not what was going to make us feel better. They made recommendations based on what was best for our family member and not what was best for their bottom line. I have several friends who have ended up there on a weekend or at night with the same story and results.

Mike Fontaine

I won't ever go there again. Cost me $1000.00 . Basically did xray and ultrasound. I Told them it was his back. Gave him pain meds that's it. Took him to another vet. The vet examined him gave him anti inflammation meds . And he is doing fine cost me $95.00. And I also brought the xray they took. The vet showed me his disc problem. As one other person stated just about the money. They never even showed me his x-ray. I don't mind paying but my experience with them wasn't. Good. Glad I found I vet who knows what he is doing. Over there just the cash register can ching. Just being honest.

Brian Pinault

Top notch facility for the southern New England area. Extremely compassionate, caring, knowledgeable staff. Also has some of the area's best visiting specialists, and is open 24 hours!

tashaxmariee

By far the best bet clinic I've ever been too. I had to go in for a tragic experience and everyone there was considerate, kind and sincere. They went as far as to mail me a card signed by everyone for the loss of our boy. The compassion we recieved was second to none. This will be the only clinic we will use going forward. They are second to none. Thank you so much to everyone that expressed their sympathies to us and meant it, your compassion was beyond what was expected and very much needed. ❤

Sydney Willis

Every person we came in contact with was super nice, compassionate and caring. We were very impressed by the services and will highly recommend this vet foe any services needed.

Denise Kolarik

This emergency Vet is open 24/7. They thoroughly review their findings and discuss options that may be taken. On 2 seperate occasions I have needed their services and found them to be professional and kind with my fur babies and their mother (Me).

Jenlyn Boardman

I brought my otherwise healthy 2 year old cat in immediately upon realizing that he was vomiting with what I thought was a hairball. I brought him in to have a through investigation. They decided to do a 7 hour barium test to be told that it appears he has a blockage. This was at 2 in the morning. I scheduled surgery for him and was told that I would have to drive 20 minutes in the middle of the night to drop off another bucket of cash. Super poor taste! He was supposed to do the surgery as of 9 am. They didn't do his surgery until 8pm. I was assured that a blockage is a surgery that they do 4 times a day. No Problem! I received a call at 11PM to be told that he had no blockage but an inflamed intestine. Apparently he had a rare condition which causes blood clots from the overlapped intestine. One of those blood clots went to his brain and killed him. There are several problems with this place of death. 1.) I specifically told the Vet Tech that a certain Vet was NOT to do the surgery. In fact I went in to meet the Doctor that was to do the surgery and I felt comfortable. #2.) When give my original options, I was told that an ultrasound would be the best route to go but the Tech was on vacation. When I picked up his cat carrier, the receptionist chased me out of the hospital, ran in front of my car and demanded his balance be paid. The nerve of these people! Especially since they said they would send a bill when my Husband picked up my butchered cat. This is the place to bring your animal to die, not to live. UPDATE: I recently met with some medical staff to go through these issues. The Vet in charge started out fine while she explaining his rare condition. When I asked her if an ultrasound could have saved him, she said that yes it is quite possible. I asked why they did not send us to another hospital with the right equipment, I was told that this would only be reserved for deathly ill animals. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't my cat dead? My opinion is that they did not give us this option for money purposes. I was then told that I may not have brought the cat in in a timely manner. I waited until the next morning. It was literally hours .The Vet in charge was so defensive which was the absolutely wrong thing to do. I was also told that everyone came in early just for me. Seriously? I worked as a sales exec for 15 years in Hospitality. I have gone in 5 hours before my shift to speak with a guest over a late breakfast. This is an animal. I am the client. It's their job to explain this to me. Absolutely disgusting.

As a borderline hysterical/crazy cat lady, I spent several days going back and forth bringing my cat Ferris (from Cranston RI no less) because I was suspicious of him having a UTI. The entire staff was so caring and gave me options on how to proceed with the potential illness. I brought him in four times in two days (hence the hysterical comment above

My husband and I visited last week when my dog Cinnamon started seizing. She was 14 years old and did not have a history of seizures. They rushed her right into the back and started an IV to give her some medicine immediately. She had had a cough for about a month so they decided to do a chest X-ray. Unfortunately it turned out that my poor dog had lung cancer. The mass was very large and fatal. We had to put her down. We were able to spend as much time with her as we wanted to in a private room before notifying the staff that we were ready. It was a very emotional 20 minutes. The staff and the doctor were very caring and supportive. Thier bedside manner was excellent. I was able to hold her on my lap while she got the injections. Afterward the doctor was so kind and apologetic. I could hold her as long as I wanted to. They have a cremation service with several different beautiful urns to choose from. We just got ours back today. Also it came with a gift from the hospital-Cinnamon's pawprints pressed in a circle of clay with her name around it. It was so pretty it made me cry all over again. They definitely do their best to try to help people that are in a very emotional and sad situation. They go above and beyond their call of duty every day to help people. I have another dog and when that day comes for her, I won't hesitate to bring her here. 5 stars for sure.

Our beloved tuxedo cat “Rookie” had a terrible panic episode late last night and had trouble breathing. My husband and I took him in to thankfully, the only vet who was open at the time and the front staff immediately took him into the back room to give him oxygen which greatly calmed him down. Tragically, he had a ruptured spleen due to a rare tumor in his abdominal cavity. They allowed us to deliberate the very hard decision of emergency surgery (which he had a small chance of making it) and a peaceful death for almost two hours. The vet and the staff were more than accommodating, checking in on us frequently and answering all of the questions we had honestly and articulately. They even got Rookie stabilizes enough that we were able to say our final goodbyes. In the end we decided not to put our suffering cat through a very risky surgery and decided to put him down peacefully. The vet was excellent and sympathetic to us as we held him through to the very end. Initially we wanted to cremate him but decided the next day that we would rather bury his body on our property and they allowed us to retrieve him the next day. Even though I wish our friend had made it through the night, the team at the Mass RI Vet did everything possible to make Rookie’s last night with us as comfortable and peaceful as possible, and treated us with compassion and respect. They treated his remains as affectionately and gently as possible too as he was wrapped up in blanket inside a burial box with a flower over him. I am thankful that we were able to give him a peaceful end which may not have been possible in our home that night, and grateful for the way the staff treated both us and our cat.

Great experience!!! My dog was hit by a car, the staff was quick getting her in even though she could walk, with limp, they were curious and compassionate and patient with me since I was a hysterical mess! They did not perform any unnecessary costly testing. My dog is very scared of the vet and difficult to handle. The staff did a great job of handling her. When all was said and done, and my dog had no broken bones, I thought the bill would be pretty expensive, $118 was all I paid! Emergency visit is $90 itself. I was lucky and my dog did not suffer massive injuries where the bill can get big. I will definitely use this vet again! They even followed up with A phone call to make sure my pup was doing ok! Great staff

Moni Chea

My cat was saved by them when he had a UT block. They took good care of him while he stayed overnight and made sure he was comfortable. The staff was kind and caring too.

T Pente

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They were not interested in listening to any of our information, just instructed me to put the dog to sleep. Also, quoted me an estimate from $8K - $10K for a surgery. Because I questioned their recommendations they refused to supply all of the necessary items my dog needed which were called in from my vet. The blood typing tests they did give me did NOT include instructions and my VET was not comfortable reading the results. When I came back, the tech was very rude, condescending, and unprofessional. She told me that I did not need the instructions and gave me HER read on the results. I ultimately took my dog to Angell Animal Medical Center where my dog received exceptional care with an extended stay for $3700. My dog has recovered quickly and back to 100%. Additionally, the blood typing they ran showed the complete OPPOSITE of what Mass ER told me. (This could have been life threatening for my dog). If you want specialty care, go to a facility where they have specialty surgeons/professionals on staff.

2018 The girls answer the phones are absolute sweetheart but one of the doctors is a complete unprofessional rude person. I was told by my vet to reach out to the animal hospital with any questions that I might have regarding the safety of my pet and when I called the doctor she cannot even be bothered and I could hear her complaining on the other line before she actually started talking.. when I did start to talk to her she just gave me so much attitude, and also implyed that I was stupid because my question could’ve been answered so simply even though she answered it completely wrong because she had no idea what she was talking about..she did not allow me to explain what I was talking about and She just jump to conclusions and then when I told her very nicely that she wasn’t understanding the question I was asking she rushed me off the phone.. she was not with a patient at all. You can definitely care that she could care less about my sick pet absolutely disgusting she should not be a doctor. I will definitely never trust my pets with the place that can staff such a horrible Dr.

My dog Fifi was bitten by a fat tick on a late Sunday. They took the tick out, gave us some meds, and no charge. They said to take her to her veterinarian monday. Fifi had been there before. They are great.

Cat brought on for a blockage at 1130pm. They give the price to take care of it and keep him in the hospital 1300-1500 estimate. We tell them Ok lets do what we gotta do. They say Ok we need $954 right now before we do anything. Well I have $500 on me can I get the rest first thing in the am. Their response NO, WTH, it's now midnight and you can't help the cat because I don't have a lousy $400 for deposit. They would not do it. They could care less about a member of your family suffering and are just money hungry. Had him unblocked and will be bringing him to Anchor in the morning at least it's not all about money there. Anchor really seems to care about the animals.

Our 13 year old basset hound was stricken with bloat late evening in September. One call to Mass-RI Vet and we were on our way from 25 miles away. Euthenization was the only option and we knew it. The caring staff made our dog (and us) comfortable quickly and professionally. The cost was much less than anticipated. Mass_RI made a very bad night much more bearable. Belated thanks for your care.

Elisabetta Mariotti

Rude staff at the reception desk. Long wait. Subpar care.

Melissa Root

This place is completely top notch. From the caring demeanor of the techs to the practical approach of the veterinarians, I have nothing but good things to say. The facilities are extremely clean and the care is outstanding. Highly recommend.

Mary Dunn

I brought my furry friend there because he was so sick and I needed to make that awful decision.... They we're so kind to me....very professional and caring. I was so grateful to be able to take him here and be with him for his final moments. They treated me with such compassion at a time when I really needed it. I highly recommend them

Miguel Cuellar

Bad experience, this place anly concern is the money. They do not care about your feelings towards your pet. 3500.00 dollar for 2 nights stay is a lot of money and not knowing if your pet is going to make it. That is why the ask you for a 75% deposit in advance. It is a shame. To bad I can not give them less than one star. Please who ever you are or what ever you need, do not take your pet to this place.

Charmyne Goodfellow

Doctors and staff were so pleasant and we felt confident in their diagnosis

Lissamasters

Thank God for this facility and for the staff here. Skill, kindness and compassion on a whole new level.

Cliff Stern

Unfortunately they could not save our cat. However they were so professional, explained our options and handled a painful situation with great sensitivity.

Kristen Malaiva

They took the time to help me with collecting a urine sample by letting him stay there. That relieved a lot of stress from us. I'm glad we were finally able to pinpoint what the problem was with him.

Beth manton

We lost our Calvin this morning, the staff here made this experience tolerable, our doctor was so kind and patient with us , it’s the worse decision to make , but when you have such compassionate people helping , you know the right decision was the most humane.

Paul Samson

Was in and out of there so fast. They are very efficient

Ann Kidd

Really ZERO stars My cat Buddy had an ultrasound scheduled for this morning at 8 AM. I was told that the doctor would be in first thing. When I didn't hear from them, I called the office repeatedly throughout the day and ultimately picked up Buddy at 5 PM because Dr. Mark Stamoulis still had not been in. The two staff members at the desk said, "It's not us, it is how Mark operates." So I have no answers about my cat's illness. I can't even begin to understand how this could happen.

Omar J.

They saved my little Fidget's life, I'm very grateful for them.

The pic on Google maps not same as place I was at . The lication similar but locale not. Place had been nice at first. Would have suggested injectable muscle relaxant and intramuscular nsaid since bile upset. Subsequent care horrible. The vet was said to be burling , she was not same as picture and was approx 55-60 and irritable when questions around. Seems like she ignored request for hospice like RX, even while arrived only for my dog Punch's care. Not sure why blamed DEA , said would drive my dog in for the injectable as needed . She hot huffy, and walked out and this was concerning as the RX she gave mocked and was forecasted to a sign accross from Crowne plaza Ravina in Warwick. The construction sight that has the construction site out back almost mocks my dogs Rx on the sign. All the rx's in the bag are weird parody. This same hotel where women in all it sprint weeks early late nite and had assisted the Warwick police in trying to find this woman , who was departing not from the grey SUV , but more likely the construction site. This was early evening, after trying to establish my IHG points foe a stay. Maybe came from the red storage trailer area by the module home? ...Babbling, with regards to the mass RI vetrinary ER..unclear remarks to suggest that they wanted me to leave him punch there the second office visit, as I was trying to one who asked for additional care and said no to putting him down. Want to see what the licensing shows die care, the first person was said to be Dr Lampe, but she did not match the picture on line nor did the Massachusetts licensing thing jive with the primary location shown . Want to be clear that these invoices reflect and to not offer adjunct Rx for any meds that someone else used.

Sherri DiPippo

Very compassionate staff and care. Brought my cat in at 3:00am in distress. Unfortunately my cat had a mass on his liver and did not survive. They were so kind. They made a paw print for us and wrapped him so caringly in a white blanket so we could hold him to say goodbye. His ashes were returned promptly. I have spent money and gotten emergency care for another cat at the MSPCA hospital in Boston and did not receive the level of compassion and attention I received here. This is ER care and unfortunately it is expensive, but if your pet needs immediate care I would not hesitate to go here.

Lyn Kotuby

I've brought several dogs with issues of varying severity to Mass-RI over the past few years. They've always been incredibly kind, compassionate, and calm throughout the most stressful/emotional situations I've ever been in. The staff cares deeply -- they even follow up a few days after your visit to make sure your pet is doing OK. Mass-RI continues to be my first call in an emergency and I'd recommend their services to anyone.

Cathy Furia

My Pet fell down our stairs. We took her to this hospital that our groomers (SHAMPOOCHIES) referred us to. They were kind and understood our concern. I recommend Mass RI Vet Hosp to everyone who needs emergency care for their pet. 24hrs 7days a week

Antonio Vieira

There when we need them for emergency for our dogs

Bill Curtis

staff is very helpful and caring. brought my dog there in an emergency took him right away. took time to explain what was happening with him

Stehen Davignon

People were nice, but i had to put my best friend down Was not a good day for me.

Lloyd Neal

Amazing service they help us so much with my dog bella!

The worst experience at Mass RI veterinarian I bought my dog asia in early Friday morning around 2 a.m. because I noticed she wasn't feeling. I was told she was doing real bad and that she needed to have blood work done to see what was wrong with her and that we've had to pay between 1950 and 2500 in order for them to do the test. Also we had to sign a waiver stating that if she was to have a heart attack while in their care that they will not be liable for it so we paid the money for our family member we did not want asua to die or suffer with pain. By Saturday afternoon they called us to set up a time to pick her up because she was ready and doing better. we were told that she was doing well and we were given medication to give her 4 days later my dog died we gave all the medication that was needed I even bought the food that she was being feed to her there and she refused to eat she didn't want it before she passed away we took her to Ocean State where they told us there was a lot more wrong with her than what was told at Mass RI. All they cared about was money not helping my dog asia. Godbless her and please never bring any of your animals to this hospital. I believe they should really be closed and not work on any animal at all.

Paul F

Very professional and great care.

Janette Bertness

I am always confident that my dogs are receiving the best care possible from Mass-RI Vet ER. One of my dogs has been there several times and has had surgeries for bowel obstructions, and from being attacked by another dog. He was also treated there for pancreatitis. The doctors and staff are excellent!

Serenity Olivia

Super rude, disrespectful, uncaring and terribly priced.

Lisa Bergeron

Caring and friendly staff. Took care of our Lola with professionalism.

Makenna Kobrin

They were very quick to help my sick cat. There was no wait and he was taken care of quickly. Additions it was very clean and all the staff were very nice.

Amazing better then my actual vets office!

Robert Tetreault

Hands down amazing service, unfortunately I did not catch the staff names but this is a short story my "puppy" within a few day developed a cyst on his paw and it looked pretty bad after 24 hours so I took him in to be checked out.. simple enough right well my "puppy" is a 11 month old cane corso that weights 120 lbs I did advise the staff he was very protective of me especially in new environments first person that approached him he let out a deep growl I asked for him to be muzzled just for there safety. The staff looked passed that tough guy persona and took the time to let him warm up to them it paid off they have a life time friend and patient I just wanted to thank everyone on tonight you ladies are awesome most places would of had him muzzled before we walked in just because of his breed..... also price was extremely reasonable and they take the time to explain it and give you the a price quote before they proceed all around good experience

Rich B

Had to say goodbye to our little guy. 14 1/2 year old Bailey dog. It was the middle of the night. They were very kind and gave us the time we needed. Wish it was under better circumstances but the service was very good.

Kelly Perez

Worst service ever!!! I have 3 dogs and I will never take any of them there again. I took my bulldog there in the middle of the night, and the vet was so cold hearted. She literally said at least 3 times their service depended on what I could afford to pay. She casually threw out the comment..."well it could be the onset of cancer". But again, they couldn't help if I couldn't afford it. Which wasn't an issue. Do yourself a favor, don't take your pet there. ZERO STARS!!!!!!!! It wouldn't let me post it without hitting at least one star.

Joseph Jordan

My Family is very thankful for all your staff help last night for helping our dog Simon he is feeling a lot better you guys is very professional and we felt right away that you love to help animals the Jordan's

Eric

We had to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives and put our 15 year old foxypoo to rest. He had a mass inside him that was causing fluid buildup in his lungs and nothing could be done. The entire staff including the front, vet tech and the vets were amazing and compassionate in helping us with our lil guy. They got us right in for an appointment and explained everything throughly to make the difficult process as easy as it could be. This vet is special. Thank you MA-RI Vet for your kindness, professionalism, and compassion with dealing our loss. I would highly recommend them. ❤️

Leah Ferreira

This place was very good to us. I brought my dog Smokey here because he had a cough and about two hours later he died. They helped us through each step even though it was the hardest thing I have ever went through. They even helped give us the different options of a burial or cremation and what that comes along with. They were quick with the cremation and even gave us a free clay paw print of our fur baby.

Kelsey Scholl

I brought my cat here last week for a cardiac ultrasound and had a very disappointing and honestly an awful experience. I would’ve preferred to email the hospital directly and speak to a manager about this but there is no such contact information on their website. There were so many things that went wrong with this experience from beginning to end. The biggest issue was the severe lack of communication regarding how they schedule cardiac ultrasounds. My cat is 12 years old with a severe heart condition that we were getting rechecked. Their cardiologist was recommended by our regular vet and is a great doctor, this has nothing to do with him, but apparently this hospital cannot schedule him to come during regular work hours, but instead has him come whenever he is finished with other clinics that he goes to during the day. This means that sometimes he does not arrive to Mass RI until after 5pm, meaning animals have been sitting in kennels for hours and hours without being seen, since they only allow 8 am drop offs. The other clinics we have gone to for this same procedure have ALL had specialists there during a set few hours and we have been able to pick up our animals shortly after. I do not know why this hospital is different but regardless, this should be communicated immediately to clients. Being at a vet for any animal, healthy or not, is extremely stressful at all stages of being there, and it is really upsetting to know that this hospital is totally okay with allowing unnecessary stress to be put onto animals, never mind elderly, compromised patients without informing their owners that this may be the case. Maybe some people are okay with leaving their animals in this situation but I am not and this information was NEVER communicated to us. When we called to make this appointment, we were put on hold for 40 minutes by several people who repeatedly asked us what we were holding for. We brushed this off originally as it is an ER and emergencies happen. BUT, whoever we scheduled with originally did not let us know about the possible 10 hour wait for the cardiologist to see our cat. When we got to the hospital the day of, neither the front desk staff nor the vet tech that took our cat back informed this to us either. If they did we would’ve gone somewhere else and we wouldn’t have had a problem with that. It is totally inexcusable that the 3-4 people we interacted with before leaving our cat there did not communicate this to us. By the early evening, we hadn’t gotten a call from the hospital about his status and called them to see what was going on. This is when they told us the cardiologist wasn’t even there yet. I called back to speak with a manager and was put on the phone with a tech supervisor who was argumentative with me, stating they have no control over when he gets there and “that it is not like he (my cat) is sitting in a dark room alone, he’s being watched and he’s fine”. I tried to explain why I was upset, worrying about his stress levels, and she barely apologized and just keep trying to point the blame away from themselves. We got the call at 5:30pm that his ultrasound was being done then, and that by the time we got there he would be ready, which, of course, was the only time we were not able to be there and he had to stay until nearly 7:30. On top of all of this, we had our vet send our records including my cat’s past ultrasound results WEEKS before the appointment. We called after they were sent to confirm they got them, and they said yes. The day of the appointment when checking in, we confirmed they had the records again and they said yes. Upon reading the cardiologists report, the last line said he was not sure if my cat still needed a certain medication because “past ultrasound records were not in the system”. And then to top it off when I asked for this ultrasound report to be sent to our vet, they sent it to the wrong location even though the original records were from the location we use, but they clearly didn’t have them anyways. We will be using Ocean State in the future.

lori souza

They helped me easily diagnose my dog and they didn't even charge me.

Christine Chester

This is an emergency veterinarian. They are very honest and explain everything. They are open 24 hours a day.

Jessica Ruggieri

Great service

Kuffs

No matter what they insist ur pet stays overnight charging outrageous money. A pretty simple uti in a cat can run you thousands of dollars! A fraction at the regular vets. And these guys are no better that's for sure. They will talk you into all kinds of tests that need to be done. It's all about the money for sure. After one of these visits and a misdiagnosis and extremely overpriced food that you can get much cheaper elsewhere,..... never again. Very thankful the other place across the street has opened. Even if they're not 24 hours.

Bri Hennessey

I like this place. They are just really expensive compared to veterinary places that aren't 24 hours open. They take good care of my cats when there is an emergency so kudos! Haha.

yvette taylor

The employees are gentle and caring. Their concern for my cat was genuine and when we had to make one of the toughest decision they were understanding and helpful.

Zack Belmore

Very good place in a pinch

Lisa LaRochelle-Davis

We took our Pumkin here. It was easily accessible by bus. Just get off at the strip mall where Swansea theatre is walk up about a block and it's on the other side of Bank. **They were very honest, caring and up front about care and cost. They even came back to talk to us before starting procedure to tell us Pumkin needed more help than first thought and explained cost. Not lying it was expensive for us. Approximately $600. But still reasonable compared to others. We had the cash but it would of been tight for a couple of months. **They told me about a "pet card"(what I call it) I believe it's called Care Credit . It's used for vet emergencies. I applied and was REALY LUCKY they approved me almost immediately on line. It saved us. THANK YOU MASS-RI ER!

Mary Jo Guadalupe

Awful experience, dr. Had no compassion or sympathy, for my family and I, for really sick dog. Said he could die any day and yet refused to help us put him down. Just wanted us to spend $5000.00on a surgery to prolong his life for may e only give him 3 more months with poor quality of life. No mercy, or compassion for dog either. Never again. Some Drs. Just shouldn't be able to be Drs She was so rude and cold!!

Glen Johnson

Absolutely the most fantastic Veterinary Clinic around. We took our White German Shepherd there with seizure issues after our local vet thought maybe it was time to let him go. Like others, we could not just give up on our 5 year old baby boy Jake. We took Jake to Mass/RI Vet for further treatment. 2 day's later they gave us our little boy back. Wasn't about the money but our vet cost us 900 dollars for first treatment that didn't work and almost 7 hundred the second day to be told we should go to Mass RI Vet. Our boy stayed in their care for 2 days at a quarter of what it cost for the second day at our vet. Great hospital, excellent doctors and staff and very clean and accommodating.

Dominique Ventre

The vet was very rude and condescending and tried to charge me $3500 for a c-section and when I told her I didn’t have the money she basically shunned me. My boyfriend started asking questions and was like if I have to pay for it for her I will and they said what’s your name? We are putting you down as the owner. They took my dog and while I waited for the x-ray my boyfriend went to the bathroom and when they returned with my dog they wanted to immediately know where my boyfriend was as if I didn’t matter because I didn’t have money. At that point I started calling other vets and ended up leaving after paying $300 and went to Oceanstate. At oceanstate they helped my dog give birth on her own and charged $330...I was so upset to think how much money they were going to take from us and also put my baby through surgery. Never again!

Gayle Lyman-Hatzell

Excellent care, great staff.

K Mack

I would definitely take my pets to this or any other facility like this as they're good for what they are "emergency rooms" but if I had a choice I would take my pet to my regular vet. This is not a reflection of the care or knowledge of the staff but due more in part to the business model as more of a "make profit" organization as it seems as there's always another test (that obviously costs more) to figure out what's going on if it's not an obvious injury. Again, NOT a reflection in the personnel !

Diane Nicholas

Love this clinic. They treat your fur friends so well. Highly recommend them.
