Great staff and great place to bring your pets. Highly recommend!
Bring your pet here great prices!!
Very clean and nice staff
I TOOK MY AMERICAN BULL DOG THIS PAST TUESDAY. HE WAS NOT DOING WELL, AND HAD TO BE PUT DOWN UNFORTUNELY.ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH MY HEART IS BROKEN IN SO MANY PIECES. ANYWAYS THE STAFF AND THE DOCTOR WERE SO AMAZING FROM DAY ONE. I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THEY DID. THEY ARE AWESOME AND THEY SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEMESELVES. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
They always treat my fur babies with care.
C.A.W.S is THE BEST place for all animals!! All 4 of our pets go here & I wouldn't take them anywhere else. Dr. Plumber & her Staff are amazing people!!!
Helpful and Friendly!
They are fantastic with the animals
Great service provided for responsible pet owners who don't have a bunch of money
Good people
Absolute best, caring , affordable and professional staff ive ever seen. They trurly care about the welfare of the animals
keep in mind they are non profit so they are often over booked, understaffed, and likely over worked, and underpaid. they saved my dogs life after swallowing a fish hook and were even nice enough me link me up with the right resources to get all expenses covered because of my inability to pay. highly recomended
Great place caring staff
THE NEW VET DOCTOR & STAFF ARE BETTER THAN THE LAST CREW. THE NEW ARE AWESOME AND VERY UNDERSTANDING
This place is great. They work with you on paying for your pets appointments. They call you to see how your pet is doing. It's just a great place in general. I recommend it to anyone asking about a vet.
Recently my dog had dental surgery, everything went very well.I was extremely pleased! The only reason I rate the VET with 4 stars is because of the long wait to get checked in and checked out. Everyone was very nice, I hate to give this rating, but perhaps it will help to let you know what could possibly be improved. Thanks to everyone who helped us at CAWS, I definitely will continue to recommend CAWS to my friends and remain a loyal customer!
Me gustó la manera de atendernos,y hay una chica hispana k nos ayudó mucho. Así k recomiendo el lugar.los precios son accesibles.
Horrible was told one price over the phone and told again when I got there only to have it changed after the visit to a higher price. Also would like to add I was a discounted customer.. Will never go back.
Dr. Plubm and her staff are very and kind every time I come which is quite often.
Dr. plumb is a wonderful veterinarian. She knows her patients, remembers their names & truly cares for the welfare of her pets. She will do everything in her power to help keep a pet with their family, She is honest & won't give unnecessary treatments to jack up prices so badly a families has no choice but to give up their pet or end up putting them to sleep needlessly!!
Great place. Had my cat fixed and they even trimmed his nails. Thank you CAWS
Good vet. A little pricey but if you have food stamps you can get financial aid. They're short in staff and appointments have to be made weeks in advance. But overall a good service. My dog was treated well and the vet answered all my inquires about my dog's health.
Unprofessional at its finest. Maybe if they didn't book five people for the same time slot then they wouldn't be so over whelmed with a full waiting area. Watched me struggle to balance a baby on my hip, hold the dogs leash, and fill out paperwork without saying a word. Didn't offer to tie the dog off for me. Just stared and rolled eyes at how long it was taking me. The low prices here do NOT make up for how awful the staff is.
The staff and dr are both informative and kind! I take my cats and my puppy here. Highly recommend them!
Clean and friendly
they were very nice here just make sure you have all your paperwork and stuff before you go because if you don't they really will make you re make an appointment and come back to get all your paperwork they won't even just make a phone call to verify something that's the only thing that made me mad my dog was very sick and they didn't care I still had to come back another week all because I forgot an award letter so make sure you have all your papers in order before you go here
A fraction of what you would spend at another vet, but heavy handed "care".
Ok they help low income people
It's the only place I will take my cat. Very professional and don't mind if I ask questions. I thoroughly trust the vet and the staff.
Very nice Drs. and Staff. Clean, organized, professional, and extremely affordable. Thank you for being here!
My dog had to have an emergency surgery. They took her right in, no questions asked and took very good care of her. The people that work there are very caring and compassionate. The tech Jose has an amazing personality and really knew how to relate with me as a concerned pet owner. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
My pets vet recently retired from this practice, she was amazing. So I thought I would stay. I was wrong....what an absolute disgrace! Wish we could leave zero stars. Our poor cat had an ongoing issue only to be told they have no appointments till following week. I was told that the doctor would call me at days end. I let the staff know that he has made such statements in the past but never follows through, and I was assured he would call, only to be let down again. So, we have a sick cat, with no call from the vet, no follow up call, no staff call, nothing. In waiting for the call that never came, they agreed to a requested refill on a medication that was helping my cats diarrhea calm down. Only to discover that once I got there they would not give it to me and wanted to see the cat....NEXT WEEK! So lets just get this straight... let the cat suffer with no medication till next week???? No communication, no diet, no care, no health direction, nothing, never did receive that call. The discounted cost is not worth the pathetic lack of care and concern from the (Doctor) himself. The staff make excuses on his behalf and then blame the client for being upset. This is an absolute travesty to animals... Pay close attention to the reply's from the office... all excuses. God forbid if a concerned pet owner is upset or rude for that matter. Its about the them after all not a sick animal. :((( Shameful.
The doctor here listened to me about my cat because he was already diagnosed so i didnt have to pay extra money to redo the tests he already got at another vet. They took him right in the same day i called..and kept him for 3 days and treated him until he was better. They saved my cats life and they aslo got me grants to get more than 50% of the costs back. Even though they are the best and least expensive around.
Reasonable prices. Friendly staff!
Great prices and service!!!
Don't know what I would do without these people, wonderful, they helped my cat and dog ..
Great place and they go by income if you are on kind of assistance
Very terrible customer service. When trying to make or reschedule appointments you end up on hold for excessive amounts of time, then when you finally get through they treat you as if you did something wrong by trying to charge you for appointments prior to coming in. Picked up my records, now searching for a better vet.
Dr. who cares!
They were so awesome when I needed help with my cat....
So great there
I never went inside. But from the outside its perfect. Same parking lot that I get iced coffees.
Love this place.
Good people
Very clean, professional and accommodating. Filled a script that my dog needed even though I didn't call ahead. My vets patients were transferred Herr when Care for Animals closed. It was a very easy transition.
Very nice atmosphere
Nice staff, professional manner, Doc took his time with my Tinky
It's wonderful what they do for these animals in need Among other things something as simple as a vaccination or a Check up?
They help you out if you have financial troubles. Treat the animals well and the vet is nice and professional. The receptionists can be a little rude.
Super veterinarian. Very attentive. Awesome with your pet!!
I do not like the doctor with the red hair she is rude.
Kind, caring affordable veterinary care
Compassionate staff
They don't like feed back. All don't respect it.
Never got past front desk. Inconsiderate people. I have an 18 yr old cat who was my mom's. (my mom has dementia and I just moved in to take care of her.. Mom used to take very good care of Mitsy's grooming & vet visits but can no longer do this so I have taken over) Mitsy is an indoor, long haired cat who is now matted. She needed a grooming and a new vet. I was told, sorry, we are not taking new patients??? I am low income right now as my full time job is caring for my mom. I went to a regular groomer and the cost would be outrageous! I am left with no help and was essentially turned away!
love the place they were very nice to me in my dog finley thank you guys . and thank you for the card.
My dad loves this place. If you're low-income, SSDI,SSI, FOOD STAMPS, government programs..it's a reduced price
Great place for discounts if you qualify.
Every single time I call CAWS they put me on hold, sometimes up to 1/2 hour and only because I hang up. I've been there when they place others on hold and they do it at times when there is no need. The vet rushes you out and barely answers your questions. I would not recommend this place unless it's the only one you can afford.
What I thought was a good veterinarian proved wrong a few yes later! I had taken my dog there for a lump on her side they took her in back did blood work and tested it, they told me it was a fatty tumor and that it didn’t have to be removed unless it was bothering her. So we decided to leave it since it wasn’t harmful! Well a week before Christmas this yr it had tripled in size and was leaking fluid. Took her to an animal hospital where they did the same test that had been done here only to be told it was a mast cell tumor invading her. In the process of one day later we had to put her down because of her heath. Had she been diagnosed properly from your office it could have been treated!!!!!!!!! And no a fatty cell tumor cannot form into a mast cell tumor. As a warning do not bring your pets there!!! Never will I step foot in there!!!!! This response is definitely not accurate... like you said ownership has been changed. She was never given any meds from this appointment and I was definitely told it was a fatty tumor I also have a witness whom was present for her appt and there was no estimate to remove!!!!!!! I still have the paperwork form her appt as well. If this was the case I would have done the surgery!!!!!! Either your records are false or you just like to make everyone whom leaves a bad comment look like they have inaccurate information. Which in this case you definitely have inaccurate information as to what happened at her appt there.
CAT HAS DIABETES AND TOOK BLOOD TEST AND THESE SHMUCKS DID NOT EVEN CALL US IN 48 HOURS LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. WE HAD TO KEEP CALLING FOR A WEEK ASKING FOR THE BLOOD TEST RESULTS.
Dr plumm is the best
I absolutely love Dr T, Ems, and the staff. They always go above and beyond and have always taken great care of our fur-babies. I highly recommend bringing your babies here. Jacinta.
Very caring and good for a budget
Great service prices very reasonable
Great staff, inexpensive, took good care of my dog. Nice building as well.
They were all nice.
It's very busy there but staff was helpful, prices were cheap, products and treatments weren't pushed down my throat, and I was in and out of there relatively quickly despite how many people were there. Just expect to be put on hold a lot and maybe wait in line when it's really busy, as to be expected from a nonprofit hospital. They've been great every time, will be back for sure.
Very understanding
Several of my 7 pets have been patients at CAWS, and the experience has been wonderful every time. Most recently, my greyhound needed a lump removed from her side. Caws combined her dental, "lumpectomy" and biopsy in order to keep costs down. She was treated like a queen, the biopsy is negative, and she has nice, clean teeth. Thank you, CAWS!
I wouldn't bring my pet rat here! Told me bloodwork for my dog would be $85, they charged me $126. Gave me a quote of $400-$500, then it changed to $450-$500. I was granted a $200 voucher. When I brought my dog in for dental surgery, I had $300 with me. They asked me for a $400 deposit before they would take her....WHAT, walked out!
Great people great job. We will be back
Can get a discount if on EBT. Nice people.
I have been coming here for a few years, the staff previously was rude and not helpful and didn’t help my dogs situation. BUT!!! After the new ownership took over the place has done a complete 360! They are happy to see you, they actively listen to my concerns, to have a better understanding on what’s wrong so they can do everything in there power to help you and your pet!! They offer more then helpful solutions ! Since they have added a second medication to my dog regime he has stopped seizing !! It’s amazing ! This place is clean, the staff is friendly and caring, they call you back as soon as they can !! This place truly cares about you and your pet and I am so happy to say I take my dog and 3 cats here ! Thank you again !!!
I started going when I had a very low income because of the sliding scale. We've been doing better moneywise for a bit now but haven't considered going anywhere else even though we now pay full price. They have always taken excellent care of our cats. Dr. Tyrrell always explained test results in detail, and described what the least expensive options as well as the best options were and why, understanding that money is unfortunately a factor in these decisions but not presuming or judging. All of the staff were so understanding and compassionate about our just-passed kitty's end of life care. I don't think he could have been in much better hands. I continue to take my other cat there and will do so without hesitation for any animals who come into our lives in the future.
This place is a joke.. Staff is rude, miserable & just do NOT care about your pets.. They do not care what you have to say, nor will answer your questions. They do not give proper examination, they do not run proper tests. They rush you in and out don't be surprised if your in the examination room for less then 10 minutes. Literally you get what you pay for. This is what will happen you go in the dr will weigh and give your pet a rabies shot (if you don't have records stating your pet is up to date) ask you what is wrong with the pet and then send you home with amoxicillin to give to your pet and tells you to come back if it doesn't solve the problem.. My cat almost DIED because of the HACK JOB they do.. He wasn't eating or drinking and he was throwing up clear yellowish took him in and they tried to make it out as if this wasn't that big of a deal, HAHA practically telling me this is normal behavior (no test work done no examination, when I asked why they aren't doing blood work or any kind of testing/exams for that matter they just acted like its no big deal and it was not necessary) sent me on my way with amoxicillin (I brought up the point he's been throwing up as they were rushing me out the door and was told "he should be able to keep this down just call us if not") This just did not seem right to me at all.. As soon as I left I called another vet on tiogue ave in Coventry they got me in the very next day, they did blood test x-rays and a full examination of my cat. When the results came back the dr. Told me my cat could need a exploratory surgery and overnights care in the hospital.. She gave me the options of what I could do but highly recommend ocean state because they are most Equipped for the treatment my cat needed..That's exactly what I did, the dr's at ocean state told me if I had waited a week my cat WOULD NOT have made it!! He got the treatment he needed and was at ocean state for five nights before I could take him home..
Worst experience I've ever had with a veterinary. He Told me to my dog Call back.I tried for 2 weeks to call them they left me on hold for 20 minutes. They have one girl in the office who cannot keep up with all work for the phones. I would suggest not a place. For a good vet .
Not a friendly place at all cheap if you are on a welfare after filling some paperwork and about 30 min later i seen few other customers walking in with few questions and a complain? (made me think that someones pet may have died under there care) customer asked very polite questions no treats staff got very rude and called cops at that point i started to fear for my cats live they charged me $40.00 just to look at my cat and scheduled an appointment for surgery and told me it will cost up to $1200.00 im not going back even if they told me its free. I don't want to tell anyone what to do but if you love your pet please pay attention how other pets owners feel about there vet. And just a note about the fake 4 or 5 star reviews saying that someone love going to the vet or there pet loved it... In reality no one loves to go see a doctor ( unless its Dr. SummerOff ) specially for your pet its one of the most stressful places on earth is VET DR. After all that all my cat needed is some antibiotics and not a surgery or put to sleep i know this place need money to pay there bills but most of people like me already saving animals life by taking it from rescue shelter and we don't have that kind of money to pay for it animals the ones that have to take the pain or even pay the price with there own life don't this place already make money from a non profit organization that donates each year. I'm very upset that this kind of stuff still happens in one of the greatest places on this planet anyone that rescue animal should not have to pay for it. Anyone that rescue animal should get help from this non profit organizations. And anyone that rescues animals should be recognize as people of the year.
Awsome
Did a good job on my cat
Nice people doing good work
I'm calling Bullshit on all these bad views! Anytime I've visited Companion Animal Welfare it's been a great experience. This place is NON- PROFIT I'm not sure if any of you idiots giving bad reviews knows what that means. They are providing low-cost care to you and your pet. You should be fully prepared to wait considering this fact. They are NOT responsible to tie up your pet for you, or juggle your toddler. YOU should have accounted for these things before booking an appointment. I've waited longs periods at Ocean State which is "Supposed" to be an emergency vet. They also charge a pretty penny. Perhaps it is YOU the owner that is the problem? I've been there when someone brought in their pregnant dog who needed a C-Section but didn't have any money. They treated the dog. This person purposely let their dog get pregnant and expected someone else to deal with the repercussions. This is probably the reason staff can get upset at times. I'm adopting a cat who needs all his teeth extracted. They've taken great care of him so far. Including full blood work up. They also care for my cat Yoite who had severe anxiety issues. I'd been sure he'd need to be sedated. Nope. They took great care of him. STOP trashing an amazing place that cares for so many poor animals and their stupid owners.
They take good care of pets for a good price
Little pricey but awesome customer service, good staff and great doctors and they know what they talk about
Cassandra seems bitter. I've always been treated great as have my animals.
Fair prices

Keimuah Hyshi / Tyishi Hyshy / Reese' Cup They are all happy with Dr. T
Took great care of of my pups when in there care.
Quick service and my cat is happy! Thank you
I wish I could leave pictures and email responses, they speak a million words. On 4-20 I brought my dogs in for lump removal, simple right, WRONG! After putting my dog in the car to leave I notice two of his cuts are not fully shut. So I bring him right back in. That's when the vet tech (of 20 years expericance I'm told) tells me it's fine but to make me happy he'd go put a staple in my fully awake dog. Mind you they used glue on a two inch cut that was on his back leg in a spot that will have lots of movement even if he's clam, which he was. All is well until the next day. The vet emailed me and said it should be fine to wash the cut with soapy water. Soap on glue? Ok she's the vet? Well that Friday night his cut opened so badly the sub stitches also ripped open. I had to rush him to a 911 vet. Mind you the cut on his front leg the vet said it was a surface cut and didn't need to be closed "because it would deform him" are you kidding me. The 911 vet replaced the sub stitches on that one as well and closed it up.
Very sad visit, couldn't afford the cost to fix my cats issue so had to sign over my rights to him. I miss my baby so much, had him for 8 years.
Great service and animals are cared for well
I had several cats spayed and neutered, tested and given shots here. The vet retired since then and thought it had closed, but no! It is in operation under new owner and I'm planning to bring my cats back! Will update when I do.
Absolutely no words to describe the passion from this veterinarian. My girl Sasha came here before the new ownership. The veterinarian that took over is just as compassionate as Dr. Plumb. He spends time with you explaining everything. He knows how much my girl means to me as well as Dr. Plumb knew. I would do anything in my power to try to save my dog even though I know that is not possible. I do miss the old staff. Please don't go by any of these negative reviews. These doctors are here to help and they will help you just like they are helping my Sasha❤ Thank you for everything.
Vets witch
All they care about is pushing rabies vaccination. I had no proof of my baby's so of course they wanted to give one. I said no and by the time I got home the police had been at my door. I had stated that he had one last year but he had been late in the past. I could not remember when. It must be nice to be able to report someone without evidence. My pet was vaccinated!! So your response is not validated.
I am very thankful for this organization. My dog has very bad teeth and needs continual dental care. This was becoming very costly at my regular vet. CAWS did my dogs dental for a fraction of the cost with no reduction in quality of care. I highly recommend them for all of your veterinary care.
There the best!!!
Excellent Service.
Great veterinarian truly in it to help the animals price is very affordable and avenues to help those that can't afford it
The staff is very friendly and helpful
They are very helpful. Help take care of a couple of my animals and I appreciate it a lot. I would recommend them to anybody
The best Vet, at a reasonable price...
Very compitant Doctor & staff ! Clean and they talk to you. Tell you what going what your all gonna do to fix it . And prices are very fair .
great prices and your best friends get treated with love and care
Caring understanding people. That care for your fur babies health and well being.
Good for everyday issues with good rates for people with low income. Very helpful for those who cannot afford the top rated vets.
They care about the animals they rescue deeply.
The staff and doctors are great with my misbehaved Maine Coon and his brother. I love going there (my cats may disagree) but they are always quick to get us in and to see us. Very reasonably priced for visits, my Maine Coon needs to be sedated every time he goes anywhere and another office charged me 3 times what I pay at CAWS! I will continue and recommend anyone to go there. I have had all positive experiences.
I called I called and set up an appointment they told me I had to come in and do paperwork I go there there's no paperwork for me to do the the other one girl says I still owe one girl said that there was well anyway I set up an appointment I was told it was $90 I called to confirm the appointment and let him know the person that was bringing the cat in for me and they told me the price was $110 instead of a 90 so I do not like them because they can never get a set price and I'm on disability and I that extra $20 I would have to Rob another bill to pay from pan they should get their prices straight 4 people
Good place to go if u don't have alot of
I know this is long but please read till the end. For 7 years my vet was Care for Animals. CAWS and Care for Animals merged or something like that. Then Dr. Rauch from Care for Animals retired. Anyways, from the minute I walked through the doors at CAWS I was very disappointed and absolutely hated it there. CAWS staff was NOT friendly at all, bossy & rather rude. Care for Animals staff was pleasant as always. After I found out Dr. Rauch retired I started looking for another vet. However, my fur-babies needed vetting so we continued to go there as when I complained about staff was told to hang in there that there were about to be changes. What prompted me to actually leave rather than "hang in there" was when I called to get my dogs meds refilled and they told me my dog wasn't a patient there or had no record of meds. Not once and not just one dog, but 3 times they told me on 3 different occasions that my fur-babies were patients their or had no paperwork on them. One dog had surgery, (Chance) there and another dog (Vanna)had been there several times. Lacey had just had all her shots done the day before merge. Any how all my meds came from CAWS for all 3 dogs for 6 months. When I called to have refill done they on heartworm meds they told me my dogs either weren't a patient there or had no record of heartworm test.....REALLY! 3 months prior I had just got heartworm meds and flea/ tick meds for all 3 dogs. All 3 dogs had heartworm test done 3 months prior to me trying to get refills. When I told then how I felt about all this, which all I said is, "you need to get your act together cause I am tired of you telling me my dogs don't go there or you can't find paperwork on them. If things don't change i am finding a new vet that this is ridiculous and unprofessional." They asked me to bring proof of paperwork in and i told them i would when i got back in town as i was out of state for a month. When i returned to RI, I called CAWS back and asked them what they needed from me. I told them that my dogs were now totally out of meds and were due by July 28th. They told me, "Sorry your dogs are no longer patients here due to the way I spoke to them last time I called, SERIOUSLY! This girl Annie claims I used vulgar language. I told her that I most certainly did not and that I really didn't say anything bad. So now I am in search for a new vet and my dogs are going without their meds even my Vanna whom is on special meds. They refused to give my dogs their meds even with paperwork proof of them being patients. I asked them to please give them their meds one last time cause would take me time to find a new vet and to get appointment. I asked them to please not take it out on my dogs that they did not deserve this. They hung up on me.....I sorry but this vet does not belong in this line of work. You don't do things like this, it is morally wrong and unethical to take things out on innocent animals.
Brought my cat Sabrina to them..she was near death..they saved my cats life..I am so greatful to the vet and her compassion for life
Grouchy woman at front desk.
Great place
They Kill my 5 month old kitten ...He went in to be fixed ...and now they are trying to say he had a heart Problem ....I'm calling Bullshit ...Any good vet would have check my baby boy out before they did anything to him .....HE WAS MY BABY .AND NOW THEY TOOK THAT AWAY
They took care of my baby Sophia when she swallowed a penny! She’s doing good now and back to her self and I even noticed they cut her nails :) Thank you to the wonderful help of Caws I couldn’t have saved my kitty without them! The prices and the help we got were a blessing.
They love your pet like it was thiers
These guys are great. It's clean and they're great with my cat.
Dr. Plumb is just fabulous!!
Amazing staff!! Helped me neuter my rescue pitt bull Mr., also gave him all his shots, heartworm ect...
Best vets in Rhode Island
Wonderful
I love this place I recently just had to put my oldest cat to sleep and they were the most compassionate caring people in the world to have to deal with I would recommend them to anybody and everybody and I thank them for everything that they helped me with.
I love the vet, informative, knowledgeable, and so kind! And to offer a discount to lower income pet parents is awesome!!!
Friendly caring staff ! Best prices and a caring doctor! Thank you to the staff for the care of my muffin boy
Worst place for your pets. They lie about discounts. They could not clip my dogs nails bc they felt my dog was too aggressive. Totally not the case. Even at the vet, she is a good dog. Unbelievable.
Overwhelmed staff and yucky location
Doctor was great . Price and wait was eh
Very reasonable
They really care about your animals
They're great with animals and their owners! They're very reasonable on the prices for the visits, meds, and they help the low income pet owners care for their pets by reducing the cost of the visit.
Prices are good since they are a non-profit vet. You have to check on them with everything and ask questions. They are all pleasant people but they sent me home with my pet for 1 week after having surgery and never gave me the antibiotics or other meds
Very friendly service
