Very professional and caring

Germy Gutiearez

When i went here they were rude as hell and the price is extremely high if there were a 0 star option i would do it without question my little girl died because we went here we had little time so we stopped here quickly but died that night because of the time we wasted coming here

Stryker 96

I highly recommend this hospital. I brought several of my dogs here, and saw 3 different doctors. All the doctors are very knowledgeable and are committed to helping my dogs. They answered all my questions, without rushing us out like some places. The technicians are very kind with my dogs and myself as well. Excellent hospital to take your pets for the best care.

Manvendra Singh

Only place open 24-7 in this area. Doctors and nurses are very polite and considerate.

James Santos

They were very good people they care about the animals they got my cat in there really quick even though she died but that's cuz she had some blood clots and had to put her to sleep but they're real friendly over there the good place to bring your animal which is really family all I have to say is that good people over there to help me get through this I would recommend these people to anybody that has an animal that wants to make sure the dog or cat gets healthy

Tracy Liberatore

Staff is very compassionate and knowledgable. I didnt think my little pup was going to pull through but they gave me all of our options and taught me what I needed to do to care for her. She has since recovered and I cant thank them enough!

James David

Save my baby at an overprice experience

Michael Inabinett

Great service

Jane

The only thing I really did not like was that I could not go with my dog. I hated the fact that they took her and didn't allow me in the exam room.

Catherine Indeck

This hospital is a blessing to all of us who have pets. Yes, they are expensive. That's because it's expensive to staff a facility like this 24/7 and expensive to purchase and maintain the equipment they have. We have taken several pets there over the years and they have saved our buddies or did everything they could to try to save them. When they couldn't, they were so kind and compassionate. It infuriates me to see some of the things people say against them. Again, I know emergency care or surgical care is expensive. But your dear pet couldn't be in better hands. Thank you NVRH for being there for us.

Vince James

Very professional yet personal service. Dr. Ellers was wonderful.

Charlene Calhoun

They took excellent care of my 8 week old puppy, when he was really sick on Thanksgiving Eve. Everyone was wonderful and caring.

Carol LaBar

This was only our 2nd time going there & both times they were caring & curteous in taking care of our needs. They really care about our furbabies & informing you of situation & what needs to be done in caring for them.

Carolyn Hughes

The care is excellent but you definitely pay. There should be discounts for seniors and pay plans rather than credit cards.

Gregg Raino

High quality emergency and referral per health center.

Richard Downs

Good. Service

JoAnne ONeill

Dr. Hassinger did a wonderful job on my Great Pyr's leg! She had previous surgery elsewhere and her leg ended up with a horrible infection but this surgery that Dr. Hassinger did, was so much easier on myself and my dog, plus no infection at all!! The incision healed beautifully and here it is, a little over 2 months later and she is walking great. I can tell you I would 100% use them again if I had to! The price was fair, actually less then the other place! The staff was very professional and friendly as well!

Kim Paddock

Dr Runde, their Internal Medicine doctor and staff are amazing! Both caring and professional. My dog has a liver disease and I couldn't have made a better decision for his ongoing care. Would definitely recommend!

David Kellar

Dr. Hassinger and his staff are beyond reproach in their services. Their compassion, professionalism and expertise have benefitted our pets many times over the years. Just this past week they quickly diagnosed a serious illness for our English Mastiff and immediately corrected a situation that could have easily led to our pet's death. Northeast and Central PA is very fortunate to have this premier facility in our backyard!

Dawn Walp

Excellent care for my cat Oliver & they kept me informed of everything.

Frjim T

Took my chocolate lab there in the middle of the night... They took good care of her, did a good job....

Mary Gardner

The animals received good care and the staff was very courteous. I only gave it a 4 Because it is pricey.

Jennifer Morris

My cat couldn't walk, after a battery of tests I was given an anti-acid. By morning she was worse but thankfully by then her regular vet was available. Bonus was that the test were done so my vet could review on a Saturday morning but I wouldn't go there again.

Chris Hunsinger

Super friendly people showed genuine concern for my pup. Charged me 400$ to shave my dog's butt and put a cone on her head, but I'd trade all my money for her health any day.

Jason Cesari

From our initial phone call till the end of the emergency the staff, techs and Dr. Smith took their time with my wife, dog and me. The place had curb side parking, helped getting my dog out. First time I ever had to go and they me feel like we mattered. Thank you to the whole staff and Dr. Smith Update: they released us with some injections for dogs stomach issues (Great Dane 8.7 years old). We got home and she still looked terrible and in pain. They did not perform any xrays or really tell us much. It had nothing to do with cost (over next 2 days we spent over 2k trying to save her). The next morning she was worse and we rushed her to our vet first thing. Our dane Bloated and would have shown on a xray or exam imho exam with symptoms were there. What saved her for a little was as a baby we had her stomach tacked. Well after 2 days we had to say bye to our baby. I'm not mad at the emergency hospital just upset they missed this and sent her home in so much pain. I've always heard good about this place but next time I'll be travelling to Clark summit or Allentown- missing this imho is unacceptable (not saying at all it changed the outcome of her passing but the pain she was in isnt acceptable to me). The one question they kept asking is "is this how she normally look" well fn no we are at the ER at 12 o'clock

Amber Malonis

Dr Clarke and Dr Hassinger are both wonderful. Nothing but care and kindness all the way. Thank you for taking care of our Creep the cat.

Swine Things

If you care about your animal stay away from this godforsaken place. They are incompetent animal killers who misdiagnose and recommend unnecessary procedures. They are profit driven and have no compassion for pets or their owners. The fat doctor takes pleasure in recommending putting him to sleep. When I refused they called the SPCA. I went to another clinic and they saved my pet, no killing required. What an evil bunch of sick scumbags.

Sherry Simons

They quickly took my dog who was dying. They informed me of all my options, were empathetic and the staff kept me thoroughly informed each day after her transfusions. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty and saved our puppy.

I've previously left a great review for Dr. Hassinger who performed b/l cruciate surgery on our lab six years ago. Our dog recently developed growths on her eyelid and paw, and we returned back to this practice (a two hour drive) based upon that positive experience. the practice has changed, and i would never go back. I was handed an estimate between $ 2200 and 2500 for the procedures by a vet tech, and made an emotional decision to proceed as many pet owners do. My mistake was not insisting on a thorough explanation of the costs from the surgeon. In the end, I left feeling disgusted, and my dog's raw paw looks like a walker got a chunk of it. Remember that this is a business. Don't think with your heart. Get a second opinion. you'll lose $100 on the consultation, but that is chump change at this establishment.

Sharon Tloczynski

Dr mc brian saved my baby and gave her a new hip.....amazing care

neva rachel gontier

I had my cat there (my fur child) 4 days ago and they werw great kind caring understanding i just called this morning because my childs bandage fell off and when i called the woman was very rude and not understanding they are looking for 150 dollars more just to bandage my cats tip of his tail well looks like im calling my regular vet or another animal hospital thanks

Carl Moss

One of BEST Veterinary care unit in the area VERY VERY PROFESSIONAL at what they do THANK YOU...

Roberta E

Excellent. Was told of other places but took my dogs there where other vets could not do the surgery

Me Mine

The care was excellent! But the triage tech was so rude. Can't figure out how she still has a job.

Deborah Colosimo

Thank God for them!! My cat cut his toe and I couldn't stop the bleeding. They saved the day. Thanks for always being there!!

Victoria Wetzel

I'm hoping to update this with a better outcome (and will happily do so if/when my concerns are addressed!). We took our sweet cat there Monday, and we're told he had an inner ear issue which needed medication. Much better news than we expected, and he's showing signs of improvement. However, we discovered last night that we were only given 5.5 days of medication, and the prescription & visit notes specify to continue for seven days. We did not receive seven days' worth of medicine, and I have called twice in the last three hours to see what we should do. Our sweet cat is now overdue for his afternoon dose with absolutely no word from the office, despite two calls on my part (and confirmation that the message was relayed to the vet three hours ago). We don't mind paying for concenience, because we are lucky to have a 24/7 emergency vet nearby, and we appreciate that. I also understand they deal in critical care cases, but ignoring the needs of our sweet cat due to inaccurate dispensation, possibly setting back his recovery because he hasn't been given the entire course of treatment without so much as a call back, is so disappointing. I certainly hope they make this right, and soon.

Philip Weilbacher

Nice staff, clean place

susan o'holla

I would not recommend this Er vet. They are very ignorant, but they like your money.

Jim Helveston

Best veterinary hospital in this area by far.

Robert M Dohman Jr

Great service and professional a great asset to the area

Diana Cog

Went to see the cardiologist, Dr Goodwin. He was professional, thorough, curteous and compassionate

Missy Reeves

This is a difficult review but they made the best of a horrible situation. We brought our sweet Bella in with what we thought may have been some sort of doggy flu or virus and they had to break to us that her kidneys and liver had shut down and she was in alot of pain with not much they could do for her without her suffering so we had to put her down. They were very honest and didnt put her through unnecessary testing and treatment to run a bill up like they could have although they did give us the option to do so, they were gentle and supportive and gave us a room to spend as much time with her as we wanted before we had to say goodbye...they did all they could for us and our girl.

Sharon Shultz

Knowledgeable and efficient staff. I had a sick pet that had to be euthanized. They were very kind and supportive. I was grateful for their help and kindness.

Michelle Schmid

Northeast veterinary referral hospital saved my cats life !!!!! My cat developed a urinary blockage and ended having to stay in the ICU for 5 nights. He ultimately required surgery to correct the situation. The staff was wonderful and I truly felt that OJ was getting the best possible care that he deserved . My experience with this facility has been wonderful thus far and I am so greatful for everything they have done for OJ . I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who’s pet needs emergent or surgical care

Christal Hertzog

I would not recommend Northeast Vet to anyone. We were referred there by our vet. She wanted my dog to have an ultrasound and have fluid removed from around her lungs. Dr. Fiedorczyk refused to tap her and from the minute she saw my dog she wanted to euthanize her telling me she was in liver failure. Long story short, I took her elsewhere and my dog was not in liver failure she has a condition where she does not absorb protein . She is thriving with us following the other vets recommendations .

Rhonda Gingell

The staff was very caring and accommodated our request when we had to put down our pup. They provided a nice grassy area outside and were just wonderful through the whole process.

NE Pa History and Archaeology Search

Staff was very nice and professional. Gave excellent care to our Boxer. They are also able to do just about any type of bloodwork, testing, x rays, etc. As they are emergency vets, it can get a little expensive, but they also take the Care Credit card.

Nancy Waters

They saved my sweet pug after being attacked by another dog who go into our fenced yard. The staff is amazing, skilled, and compassion. It's worth every penny here because this place is the best.

amy ciliberto

Took our dog there...they were great and understanding.

Leigh Jamgochian

Great friendly staff and really on the ball. They treated my SO Boston terrier with a lot of care and have a diagnosis and several options for treatment. While it was expensive, it is emergency facility. So being able to see a Vet on a busy weekend when your furry family member is in distress is worth it. They have a large waiting room. Make sure you have your pet properly leashed or in a carrier. And when sitting in the waiting room be careful of some irritable pets. But when sick you're not gonna be on the most agreeable mood either. The reception personnel are efficient and a tech is quickly called to take vitals. Overall while I wouldn't use this as a primary care facility I'd definitely make the trip in an emergency.

Mary Ploettner

Take the multitude of reviews stating the same thing...no help w/o forking over thousands upfront ...for diagnostics, not even including treatment...my experience as well. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! Caring and compassionate for their wallets is about the size of It!

Christopher James Hughes

They misdiagnosed my poor cat. During that horrendous blizzard we had this year no less. Not to mention they are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced

Danielle K

Excellent veterinary care!

Cher Perrin

I have been to this Vet hospital for 2 diff separate issues w 2 different dogs. Once in 2008 & now just a few weeks ago. In 2008...The 1st time i knew my Rottie was going to need to b put to sleep...I just didn't realize it would b so soon. (My reg Vet had prewarned me a couple weeks in advance). The staff at NE Vet Hosp were very helpful, comforting & accommodating thru out the emergency process. In 2018...my Pitt Bull/Boxer mix began to experience some problems we thought were minor. We saw our reg Vet. They felt (after a # of tests & a physical that she was just old). That wasn't the case. The Sun after Thanksgiving we had to rush her to NE Emergency Hosp. After an evaluation, & some small tests the Vet did suggest 2 options. The 1st being quite expensive & w slim chances of solving anything...& the 2nd being euthanasia. The Vet was very compassionate but also very honest. She did suggest the opt due to the dogs age & what was wrong. We chose to try to save her. They did everything for opt 1, w the exception of sending the samples out for cancer testing. It was very expensive. It was probably not in hind sight the opt best to choose. The dog didn't suffer in the slightest but all it did was postpone us the euthanasia until Monday evening. We did get to spend a small amount of precious more time together & in my heart I feel that the money was worth it as well as the piece of mind that we did all we could for her. They were VERY compassionate, understanding & accommodating when we did the euthanasia. It was so peaceful for her...I wouldnt have wanted it any other way. She thought we were just laying down & taking a nap. The standard cremation box is beautiful. The 1 from 2008 was a metal can. So we r getting a matching box for that one. I imagine that we will take the rest of our dogs here as well.

I have a 19 year old siamese shes my whole world, her name is blossom and they were so quick and kind to her they were very informative!

Frank Piechota

This is easy!!! They are the Best!!!! I don't want to talk about it, but I had to put my Anmial Down!!! They took excellent CARE of ME!!!!!!! As I said, they are the Best!!!

Christine Kutz

Great emergency vet clinic. They were very courteous and kind, moreso than needed, during a stressful time. I took my old diabetic cat here who had a low blood sugar event. They took great care of him, not mentioning anything about his age, and did everything they could to help him recover, just like they would a younger cat. They went above and beyond, doing some minor diagnostics on a wound he had on his chin for awhile that would not heal that was unrelated, but worried them. Moe pulled through. I don't think he enjoyed his time there, but seemed as calm unstressed as possible in the situation.

Adam Piccotti

Nice staff! They do a great job with my big boy!

spencer rappaport

Brought my friends dog here after she was hit by a car and they treated her and got her fixed up lickity split .. great love and compassion for animals. The professionalism was unmatched

WARNING !!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!! My daughter & I brought my dog to this facility because he had a seizure this AM( never had any problem prior to this). We arrived there & while walking in the parking lot, my dog went into a full blown seizure; two techs carried him into the back area & I was sent to the counter to pay $150.00 just to 'check in'...fine. We then waited in the waiting area for about 20 mins, then were taken into exam room #1 where a vet tech (not a Vet) told us what was going on.She said they gave him some valium to calm him down but would need to stay 24 hr for monitoring until he stabilized.......fine, (I was willing to let him stay...of course, I wanted him to get what he needed to stop the seizures) then she says " That will cost approx. $800.00 to $1000.00 dollars for overnight" I said why does it cost so much she replied" Because we have someone here 24/7 to watch him" $800.00 to $1000.00!!! And he will probably need an MRI which will cost $2500.00...Are you kidding?? I said, "well, can you take payments as I'm not prepared for this" No we cannot take payments, was the response.." but you can apply for CARECREDIT credit card to pay for it". Well, we are on a paycheck to paycheck budget( if that's what you want to even call it) & I don't know anyone who has an extra $1000.00 ready for immediate use, I'm sorry, but that shouldn't prevent you from getting emergency care for your pet ( just like if you go to the hospital in an emergency!!) You get the care you need. I told her honestly, we can't afford that, her response was " Well, I am an advocate for the dog, if you can't afford to care for him, then you should humanely put him down" WWWWHHHHAAATTTT?????? I came here for help & this is what I get??? Because I cannnot pay you 800 to 1000dollars, you're not going to help me??? WOW! She asked what I could afford...I said, I don't know, but I can/ am willing to make payments. So, now it has been almost an hour sitting in the exam room talking about the cost of 800 to 1000 dollars & what is going on with my dog? Is my dog ok? Did you give him some Meds to stop the seizures?? The answer was NO! They gave him NOTHING except 5mg/ml of Valium when we came in & a Blood Glucose test. WHY???? THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!! YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE DOING SOMETHING TO SAVE HIS LIFE!!!! Then the tech says " well, the least you should do is leave him here for 4 hours & that will cost $450.00." I asked can I make payments? answer " No". Again, I was put in a position where I was not going to get any help unless I wrote a check for $450.00 for 4 hrs....and all this time, my dog didn't get any anti-seizure medication. I am realizing that they have put me in a position where the life of my dog is depending on how much money I am willing to fork over to them..you come in there, upset because your family member is sick or hurt & that is a very vulnerable position to be in. We decided to take our dog home & take him to another Vet. We told the vet tech our decision & she walked out to get some discharge papers. Well, now, another person comes in Dr. Alanah Wray, BVSc ( a Student Vet) and says I have to sign a release form for my dog 'Against Medical Advice'....I'm taking him out because you won't take payments on your outragious prices!! Not because I don't want him to get help! All this time wasted, my dog didn't get any anti seizure meds while there. I was given a script for these meds that I could pick up at a pharmacy on the way home....again, why wasn't he given any meds there for seizures?? Oh, I had to pay another $48.23 on the way out to make it $198.23 total. Again, no meds where given to help with his seizures while he was in the office. He died the following day, devastating our family forever. So disgusted with the way this was handled- No Care unless you paid, up front $1000.00's of dollars. My sister in law experienced something similar from this hospital & after $1000.00's of dollars, her dog died also. Shame on you.

Ernesto Perez

Great specialty place. They took care my dog's knee and surgery went well a little on the higher price but all worth it. I have a very happy healthy dog now. Would go back they any time.

J

The vet seemed heartless and all about the money. They were very vague on what could be all wrong with my cat. Unless you know for certain what is wrong with your animal or its a cut or break do not take your animal there

Emily Churchfield

This is a wonderful facility with wonderful people. I arrived home from work to find my 5 month old puppy Bo out of his crate. I didn't think anything much of it until i realized he had been out for quite some time and had not eaten his food (he never doesn't eat anything). I offered him one of his favorite treats and he still wouldn't eat it. Then as I was looking at him, I noticed his stomach was bloated on both sides and was hard to touch. Becoming panicked, I googled “emergency veterinary clinics near me” and found this place. I immediately called and spoke to Kathleen and described what I was seeing. She recommended that I bring him in right away and noted the distance I was coming from to let the doctor when to expect us. When we got there, they practically met us at the door and took Bo straight back while I completed paperwork. A few minutes later the doctor came out to explain to me what they found. They wanted to take an xray to ensure it was okay to induce vomiting and that the stomach hadnt twisted - of course i gave permission. Dr. Smith told me she had fallen in love with Bo already and let me know they were taking very good care if him. I waited - in tears for about 20/30 minutes. Dr. Smith came back to let me know that Bo was going to be okay

Kerry Carter

I find the Drs. and techs quite knowledgeable. Very kind. Thorough. I am confident that my little guy will get the best care here. Only negative is that the benches in the waiting room are SOOOOOO very uncomfortable. It is an emergency facility, so if you expect to be there for 2 hours, you should have something more comfortable to sit on.

Bernie Boyer

Its all about the money. Its supposedly an animal hospital I know they're in business to make money but as a hospital where is the compassion for animals. When i brought my dog in when he was hurt.Be for they would see him they asked for $150 right off the bat. They diagnosed him without even taking x-rays.Then they wanted more money for blood test.then charged me more for meds. But again not even take X-rays to see what the core of the problem was. When they knew I had no more money they told me to go somewhere else and see a vet.Do your self a favor stay away. If you dont have enough money the compassion stops.Stone cold people that work at this facility. If you dont believe me all i could say is to go your self with your pet and find out what iam talking about.

Julie Smith

Very good place.

Janet D.

I just don't understand the negative reviews. We have had 3 good experiences at this facility. Our 15 year old Jack Russel was attacked by 2 loose dogs and was ripped up. They fixed her up and she did so well.(Dr. Yamaguchi was great - he even emailed me pictures so I could show the other dog owner so she could pay for the damages) Our Weimaraner had a undescended testicle - 2 other vets tried to surgically remove and they couldn't find it. Dr. Hassinger operated, found the testicle and the dog was up and running in a few days. Yes, they are expensive - not going to lie, I was shocked at all the detailed costs. However, we weighed these costs in comparison to going to U of Penn or Cornell. Days off from work, travel time, similar expenses. All the people I spoke to there were pleasant and kind, and I called - a lot. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to my dog loving friends. I think Dr. Hassinger might get a bad rap sometimes because he "tells it like it is". So, if you want someone to sugar coat your pets problems and give you sympathy, maybe you should go somewhere else. However, I should add that several years ago, our late Weimaraner Twinkles had a bad neurological event and went down - we took her the NVRH for the final moments. They were wonderful there - very caring at one of our worst days! I guess it depends on the problem your pet is experiencing.

Michael Adams

Excellent professional services the very best

Mad Mike

Very nice people that work there very sympathetic to your needs

Sweet Dreams

Incredibly good with our pup.

After 17yrs our Bichon Frise failed very quickly this Sunday morning. We tried his pain pills but they were no longer effective and he was in great pain and distress and could no longer walk. We called and spoke to Lisa who was very compassionate and we made the arrangements to end his suffering. We were treated well by the caring staff and the Vet was a very nice and caring man who did his best to keep our beloved pet comfortable through the whole euthanasia process. I was quoted a reasonable price over the phone and that is what we paid when we got there. All in all they did their best for us in a very trying time, I can find no fault with Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital and would not hesitate to use them again in a similar emergency.

Stephanie Quinter

They took the best care of my sweet furrbaby! It was a bit of a travel and the price is kinda up there. But they are all wicked nice in there, and they seem to really care about every animal that comes in.

Joan Heilbron

Very caring.

Jenna Nearhouse

Eno bambino hates vets and he loves Dr. Hassinger.

Michael Wanyo

Kinda pissed off. My moms cat was having breathing problems. 200 bucks just to walk in the door. And she was there 2 min. No surgery or nothen. 1 min of cpr 100 damn dollars.

Edwin DeLaCruz

Nice clean ER for pets...friendly staff...and they also accept flexible payments

Cindy Sassaman

Dr. Hassinger is the best. He performed surgery on my 5 yard old beagle. No complaints.

Mary Anne Whitonis

It never ceases to amaze me that when someone has a very sick pet they believe it is the responsibility of the veterinary community to help them for free or cut rate prices because they cannot afford it. It is a responsibility to have a pet and one that should be taken very seriously. I bet the people complaining about the high prices will pay over a 1.00 a day for a cup of coffee instead of having a 34.00 a month insurance medical policy with veterinary Pet Insurance from Brea, CA. You have to pay up front for the services but you are reimbursed within 30 days and many times you get back 80-90% of what you paid for the emergency services. It is all about priority. We curtail EVERYTHING in our lives for our animals because we feel we owe them that commitment and sacrifice because they are everything to us. If the hospital provided services for cut rate prices or for free to everyone or a majority of people than they would not be open very long and we would have to make the long trip to Cornell or U of P. Hospitals give humans medical care whether they can pay or not because they have federal funding to handle indigent cases or poverty cases. Animal hospitals get no such funding and must survive on their own. Until the early 90s veterinarians were grossly undercompensated causing many to lose their practices and work for other doctors. Now because they want fair compensation everyone is all up in arms about it. Get over it! Be responsible! Keep a credit card for only emergency purposes for your pets or have a what I call puppy slush fund that is for nothing expect your animal's emergencies and than you won't be put in those predicaments. Don't turn it around and make it about the hospital and the cost of care when it is clearly about yourself. It is called narcissistic behavior. No one forced you to go there. You could always go to Scranton and have them tell you an MRI will cost from 6400 to 9400 when the same MRI costs around 1500 at the University of Penn Vet School. Get those kind of outrageous quotes and than you have the right to complain. Because a place needs to charge for medical care and treatment by fair rates doesn't mean you have the right to slam them because you could not afford to pay. I'd live in a tent under the south street bridge if I had to so I could provide care for any of my animals! I had the following services and doctors at Northeast Veterinary Hospital in Plains. Jack a cruciate ligament surgery, respite care for Jack who had hermangiosarcoma cancer. My dog Barney saw dr. Goodwin the cardiologist and is a wonderful man. My dog Betty Girl who had two cruciate ligaments done with Dr. Hassinger, and eye cysts removed from her eyelid. My dog fred who had an infected dewclaw removed from his foot and also monitored for an increase in seizures which had to have a medication adjustment. My dog Wilma who recently had a lobectomy with Dr. Hassinger to remove a tumor. We think we go lucky but the very least it did is by her close to a year of life with the worst scenario with the pathology results. Maybe it possiblycured her and we'll know soon. I also saw Dr. Yamaguchi who was such a loving and caring human being when my Wilma presented with a dry cough a few sundays ago. I overheard the nurses speaking when I picked up Wilma after surgery saying that they had to give more time to this dog or that dog today. I asked them about it. They said that when a dog may not be able to live very long after the surgery that sometimes the owner has to make the ultimate decision to let them go. I was in this position with my sweet, sweet Wilma. They said they don't want the last few minutes of the dog's life to be sad, scared ones so they give them a lot of attention. God Bless them! God Bless Dr. Hassinger! He is always happy to extend himself to you. You are the best!

Regina Hartman

Dr. Hassinger took excellent care of my beagle. I followed his instructions and she healed up nicely after surgery.

Kim Meckes

Dr. Crabtree is amazing! Ive been bringing my golden Gus to her for cold laser therapy. I can't say enough about how wonderful she and her staff are!

Tiffany Rodriguez

I just returned to northeast vet hospital in plains, pa to pick up my Maltese after surgery. My vet tech assigned to her care was absolutely wonderful! She was very personable, caring, and patient with me and my 2 YEAR OLD TWIN BOYS. I emphasize two year old because the staff at the front desk very publicly humiliated me Infront of other clients stating my boys are "too loud and must be put in the car in order to keep the noise down for other patients". Instead of offering an exam room to me and my boys to go over discharge instructions, and potentially keep them from running about, all three staff members at the desk jumped on the fact that my young children were basically not welcome in their office. Not one person asked to lend a helping hand or suggest something productive for them to do while waiting for my dog's return. Instead they forced me to leave them in the car alone so I can pay them their money. I drove over an hour to go to this hospital because I trusted they were compassionate and caring. I understand yelling two year olds may be difficult for pets and may cause anxiety for everyone all around however, the fact is they are children! I could not get out of this place fast enough, I almost forgot my dog. I dont even want to go back for her post surgery follow up. Needless to say, I will be going to clarsksummit emergency hospital from now on. Even after all the camotion and embarrassment they caused, I still apologized for the kids even though I greatly feel I deserved one. Constructive criticism for you northeast veterinary hospital, have a little more compassion!

I brought my little baby in because she was not herself, long story short. They mis diagnosed her problem. Gave her medicine.an she died!!!! This place should b closed!! Im not done with them yet!! U can bet on that!! They killed my buddle of joy!!! They will get there's!!!! I had to give them a star to post my story!!! An they still wanted there $$$$!!

Nadine Revitt

My 5 year old yellow lab was diagnosed with kidney failure a year ago! Her chances of beating it were slim but Dr Runde put her on a cocktail of meds and im happy to say she is completely recovered today!. Dr Runde and his staff have been incredible. If i had any questions or concerns Dr Runde would call me back in a timely manner and adress my concerns personally. We still have rechecks every 4 months and the staff is always so warm and welcoming. The receptionists even asked if my girl liked to be rubbed or petted in any special way because on breaks they enjoy visiting the dogs who are admitted. Next week we are taking my lab for an orthopedic consultation with Dr Hassinger and hope to have another pleasant and successful meeting and outcome.

Billie Jo

They were very kind and understanding when I brought in an injured stray cat and they work with the SPCA and i think thats wonderful!

Michelle Mahalidge

Dr. Kinsey was amazing! My dog is has several issues and is anything but an easy task. She is very devoted to her job and would constantly give updates on his recovery. There were times she was in on her day off to check on him. The staff is incredible as well. Treated like family.

Holly Dawn

Like most vets they are very money oriented. I was not impressed with the care my pets received, and I no longer have much faith in their medical opinions. Recently they also decided to close for the weekend, leaving no local emergency care available.

Judy Black

Would NEVER recommend this place. I have had 30+ years dealing with different vets, had numerous dogs. They should be ashamed of themselves, especially Dr. Hassinger, one of the owners. I had a $10,000 experience here. won t go into all the details here. Feel free to e-mail me and I will. Simply stated, my estimated costs finally were billed at THOUSANDS above. I had to pay the bill before I was allowed to take my dog home, and then he died 3 hours later. When I called and asked to speak with Dr. Hassinger to discuss all my concerns about extremely poor treatment received at this clinic, he refused to speak with me and filtered me through their admin manager. I even tried writing him a certified letter. Still refused to speak with me, but did send a response with an offer to lower my final bill amount AND an agreement to sign to dismiss them from all other claims. Are you kidding? It s ultimately all about money here. My credit card company agreed and refunded over $2500. UNETHICAL, IMMORAL AND SHAMEFUL! It s been a year since I have even been able to write this review, it was so painful. Shame on you, Dr. Hassinger and Northeast Veterinary! Do yourself a favor, and in an emergency, make the drive to the clinic in S. Abington. Stellar service and compassion there....world s apart from the treatment your beloved pet will receive here. btw, I have proof in writing from my credit card company of the $2,732.14 REFUNDED to me! Email me and I can provide proof and tell you more about all the lies and shortcomings. Northeast can TRY to tell a good story and it s a shame that it s left up to office staff to handle and not the doctors who are actually charged with the care of our beloved pets.

Kimberly Redmond

Super expensive but very professional

Laura Snow

They are extremely nice there. My Houdini was well taken care of.

Kay Denesevich

jen s

the vet i got was very nasty and told me i should take my dog to get rehomed because i didnt have 500 dollars saved up for an emergency...she also accused me of abusing my dog because he is under weight when i explained that i got him only 2 or 3 months before she held her hand up to me and said "if you cant provide for your animal you shouldnt have him" so from a vet who suppose to love and care for animals i got told to take my dog from a loving home and put him in a kennel. the rest of the staff was wonderful and helpful just not the vet.

Luvlev23

2 bad experiences there. All they want do is put your animal down after trying to get as much testing out of you before. They are only worried about their money that they want up front. Wrong priorities! The more I talk to people the more I hear the same stories over and over. Sickening! Never going back and I will tell all my fur loving friends and family.

David Fedor

Great staff and experience. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our fur baby but they were very accommodating to us.

JCD Furniture

Took my dog even without an appointment and they accept care credit which is a plus!!

Tricia Bielen

The vet was absolutely amazing and so caring

jason desai

Fit my cat in for an emergency visit. Great place!

Huyen-Uyen Nguyen

They’re the worst kind of clinic. Just wanting money and giving bs medication. Doesn’t let the owner be with their pet. Doesn’t let the owner know what will help what is necessary or probability of your pet making it. The secretary is too scared to let the owner know the name of the doctor over the phone. Do not go to this bs excuse of a pet clinic. It’s a joke

gavin tanski

The staff were super friendly, and knowledgeable.

Michael Miller

Poor service all around. More concerned about loading you up with costs instead of providing you with service. My animal was barely even touched and immediately they went into their speech about diagnostic testing. It will be $300 for lab work and xrays. Then we will be able to tell you what's wrong. They charged $150 just to walk in the door. $95 went right to the vet (which I only got a technician). Definitely was not worth the money and I would not recommend going here.

carol gray

Always quick to get in .very polite and helpful .

Andrew

Absolutely amazing experience!! We had to put our cat down last night. The compassion and professionalism of the staff last night made an absolutely horrible situation bearable and one that my family will never forget.

Ryan Cywinski

We were here the other night because our the dog who is elderly had jumped off the couch and hurt his rear leg. Although he is battling cancer, he was unable to put any pressure on it or walk on it. We were afraid he may have done something to his hip or leg. Upon arriving, we are greeted by very friendly secretaries. The veterinary technician came out almost immediately and addressed our dogs issues. A short time later, Dr. Smith who was very caring and compassionate explained to us all of our options and what she would recommend. She was not in it just for the money. She actually discouraged x-rays because she didn't believe anything was broken based on her giving him a physical exam. We were actually given a refund. Excellent service and excellent staff who actually care about the animals and not just how much money they make. I'm writing this review about a week after we were at this emergency room and our dog is doing much better. It appears it was just either a pulled or strained muscle.

Craig Yarrish

Great group of people who really care about your pets!

Bruce Fisher

Great care for my little man

Moya phillips

if i could give it zero stars i would. I found a stray and tried to give the stray to them because I couldn't keep it til the morning due to my dog being in the house and overly excited. I was told "what I did with the cat was my business" after bringing her in. very rude. why are you all here if you have staff that don't care about animals.

PTM productions

Wonderful staff

Diana Machinas

I took Angel hope their because my vet wasn't open which they took xray n bloodwork on her! The only thing is why couldn't the other vet in Wilkes-Barre Two wasn't open for emergency at all! So now I got to take her back to see if she has cancer in her stomach too! Thanks to the Dr who took care of my cat which he gave me pain meds n other meds so she would eat too!

Melanie Ashford

Compassionate and was super quick to treat my pup

Bill Munley

The doctors, aides and staff are always helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you understand what's going on with your pet.

Aaron Lorah

Very expensive but helped my dog recover from a very bad broken leg

Jaaa C

A stray cat I had been feeding showed up with a horribly broken leg at the joint poking through the skin. After 2 days trying to catch her we took her here. Now just for the x-rays and consultation was over 500$. After all that they said to pin the leg back together they wanted 3200$ so figuring we could save this poor cats life. and it can't be much more than the 500$ we already paid to have the leg amputated. and keep the cat inside the house we asked how much it would cost. They said 3000$ for amputation. And then her exact words after that "I'm not supposed to tell you this but we could probably do it for 2500$" do you know where I heard that exact same line? When I was looking to buy a truck 2 months earlier at a used car lot. So they said "go call around and see if you can find a better price". So they bandaged this poor cats shattered leg joint and gave her a antibiotic shot and a fentanyl patch. But she was right we did some searching and found a cheaper price. 1800$ and 2200$ to amputate a stray cats leg. So not being able to afford it the poor cat is suffering in a cage in my basement. I imagine once the antibiotics wear off it will go septic and get sick. Idk there is no hope for our animals anymore. Not when used car salesman decide to become vets.

Mike Francis

Very compassionate and competent staff.

Tom Colihan

Good service

Elizabeth Hydrusko

The Emergency vet where great the price are not bad

Savannah Parez

This place has very good service. My kitty, Sunburst got a bad stomach virus and we brought him and within 2 days he was fine! Sadly, 2 of my other cats had fatal issues, and passed here. The service here was amazing. Never had a problem with them. My very special one died because of a clot. He meant a lot to us. They took so much care of us when we cried. ❤❤❤❤❤

Brittany Tulaney

Very friendly and great staff! Would recommend to any animal lover <3

Maryann Baginski

There were very nice and explained everything I needed to know

Sam Olex

I went there to put down my elderly cat down here this weekend and the people there were incredibly insensitive. We had informed them that not only were we going to take her home with us but that she was our pet. The doctor repeatedly told us that he was starting the overdose ( this cat has been my pet for 19 years) and I found it incredibly insensitive. Afterwards as we were wrapping up my cat the nurse kept coming into the room asking to take her or to put her in a bag so that we could take her home. After we had repeatedly told her that she was our pet and we got her and we are taking care of her, please leave. I will never bring an animal here again. I will make a long drive elsewhere for emergency care.

Susan Di Nardo

Very caring people, highly recommend

Suzanne Warfield

This place never disappoints me. The staff is friendly and informed. The vets are compassionate and truthful in all ways. They go out of their way to keep the costs as low as they can. ...their care and expertise is exceptional. Love Northeast!!

Kelly Hobbs

I took my disabled dog here for a consult regarding an amputation because she is paralyzed in her back legs and I am preparing to purchase a wheelchair for her. The doctor decided that she is not a good candidate for amputation and I 100% respect his opinion! I feel like some surgeons would do it simply for the "almighty dollar" but the Veterinary care at Northeast is above all the BEST and truly cares about what is best for the health and wellbeing of your pet.

Tom R

Very professional friendly courteous kind loving I could not say enough positive words about the people that have helped here thank you for all that you do

Desiree scalfer

Good for an emergency but definitely get 2nd opinion

Danise Bell

We were treated very well. The staff was friendly and thorough. They were not overly expensive.

Sam Marranca

Always there in an emergency. Very good service!

Our 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier had his ACL repaired. Turns out it was completely ripped they fixed it and it was fairly expensive but the doctors have so far been amazing.

Michele Sullivan

Once again our skipper hurt his neck. The staff was amazing. I love the vet there.

Greenwizard73

Great people, great facility, but please call prior to arrival. Currently, not open 24-7. Just call first.

Anthony Ruff

Its not exactly cheap but they helped us and we arnt exactly rich..lol..thanks for everything u did for my kids cat nala..

Brandon Borzok

Inexpensive, Even though I was ready to sell my house if need be to relieve my pet beagle palmeranin mix. EXCELLENT FRIENDLY KNOWLEDGEABLE PROMPT STAFF AND DOCTOR! I read reviews like this that made us change our mind on where we were originally taking our 7 year old fur child after he jumped from the truck to the icy ground and was almost unable to walk afterwards. After meds and bed rest just like the Dr ordered, just 3 days later we are noticing improvement, (which is excellent) but we still have 6 weeks of bedrest ahead of us and hopefully our fur child will be back to 100%. Thank you Northeast Vet!

Harry Brush

Very friendly and helpful!!! Open 24hrs

jrmi 2012

Stay away from this place...took our ailing cat for an exam and the doctor berated us one-by-one about the cat's poor condition, insisted that she be put down right away without a second opinion. Doctor was twice given very clear direction over the phone by me, the registered owner, NOT to put the animal down and wait for my arrival. Doctor then told the handlers I OK'd the action, put the cat down / killed her, cremated her to charge an extra $257. Deceitful, unethical, unprofessional practice.

Joseph Whiteduck

Very good experience here. Never had a bad experience. Brought my dog in to be evaluated because he was having increased difficulty moving. When it got to the point that he wasn't acting appropriately at all, I ran out of ideas to help him at home. We decided to bring him in and luckily the vet quickly recognized it as Lyme Disease. After the tests were completed we treated him at home and he has been great ever since. Highly recommend making normal appointments or using this facility as an emergency vet.

kristen lawson

Very professional and knowledgeable. Informed them every step of the way. Rushed out with a stretcher and immediately assisted my friends dog. I would highly recommend them for any emergency with your pet!

Paul Camilo

I've been to this animal hospital and was impressed. The veterinary assistants is very helpful and friendly. I would commend this place to friends and family members...

PATRICIA sullivan

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VETERINARY PRACTICE TO ANYONE. DR. HASSINGER HAS OPERATED ON OUR LAB TWICE FOR HIS CCL TEARS. WE HAVE GONE BACK HERE SEVERAL TIMES FOR OTHER REASONS AND HAVE SEEN DR. RUNDE AS WELL. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS PRACTICE. I HAVE THE MOST CONFIDENCE IN NORTHEAST VET REFERRAL!!!!!!

Jae Mack

I was very worried about going to another Emergency Center especially what happened the last time that I took my Marty to 1 but this place worked out better than ever it was not expensive at all they took very good care of my Marty which is a 7 year old beagle Pomeranian he was seen right away and sent home with discharge instructions I contacted my vet and he is going for a check up when he gets home we were on vacation when his injury happen and from where we were staying we travel Dane hour and 15 minutes to get my baby help and I'm sure glad we did we stayed on our mini getaway and was able to give our Marty some relaxation before we go home this place definitely cares about their animals and like I said they are very cheap but money was not an option with us

Brandon Mullin

Was referred here by my vets office in Lewisburg to do a surgery to repair our two year old cats broken Hip. They are not cheap but they do include EVERYTHING upfront in their quote for care costs. They actually came in UNDER budget, our cat received great care and was back to normal function in a few short days. Dr. Hassinger did an excellent job, he and his staff were friendly and they explained things well. I would recommend them to anyone. Full disclosure: I do NOT work there or personally know anyone who does. This is an honest review of my experience with them starting in September 2014 thru October 2014, so I experienced them in four visits from Consultation thru Post Operative Check-Up/Staple Removal.

Kris Samuels

Took care of our puppy that broke her elbow. Such nice ppl

Cody Fegley

Althoughy experience here wasn't a happy one it had nothing to do with the facility. The vet and techs we had were super caring and I felt they were upset just as we were. We even received a written letter from the vet after we had to have our little fur baby put down.

Rebecca Tate

Do not, I repeat DO NOT go to this hospital if you can avoid it. If your pet's health, life and wellbeing is your primary concern do not go to this animal hospital. These scumbags tried to kill my animal because I wanted to seek other options besides what the vet made it out to be. It was inaccurate and misdiagnosed, thankfully, my pet will be alright because I did not listen to these clowns. They also have an agreement with the SPCA and try to get you into trouble for not taking their most expensive recommendations. So these scumbags care about $$$ not animals. These clowns are a joke and I will be filing official complaints against the SPCA and this Murder-House with an attorney. Thankfully, my pet will be alright because I did not listen to these losers, who only wanted to kill him and somehow derive some sick pleasure out of killing innocent animals. Judgement is coming for us all, standby.

Perry Bonner

The energy at the front desk is tense very uncomfortable not very welcoming u can see or absorb their unlikely thoughts and uncomfortable energy there is no need for that. If u are a 1st timer they can't wait to give you headache

kylie bourne

Our dog was unresponsive Sunday morning. He had swelling of the brain, kidney failure, and was not expected to make it. We signed a DNR, left him in their care hoping they could work their magic to save him. And they did. Less than 3 days later we were able to bring him home with home care instructions, scheduled follow ups, and a pup who was almost back to his normal self. We cant thank these guys enough!

John Doggett

Took my Siberian Husky there today because he tore a toenail out and they took very good care of him and said it could be a few minutes due to being busy, and someone came and took Nanook back just a couple minutes later. They were very nice and professional.

Megan Gerlach

To Dr Jess Nord: We are so very fortunate you were working on Saturday 10/8/16 when we brought our sweet Pug, Chloe in to be seen. I know you went above and beyond looking for answers for us. I just want to thank you for everything you did. You were amazing through this very difficult time for us. Thank you for deciding to become a Vet. There are many families and pets that are beyond lucky that you are. -The Gerlach Family

kevin rowles
