Bill Biskup

Good service. Reasonable prices.

Second time Ive had Dakota here . This makes her 2nd one year rabies vacination. The vet would not listen to me describre the symptoms. So he prescribed steroids and antibotics .. Left there went to a retired vet who was a friend from years gone by. Told him the problem he has me open her mouth . Finds a piece of plastic string removes it all is well.

I've been coming here with my family for the past 10 years and this last visit was the worst treatment I have ever faced in our time there. I am terribly disappointed! We had an appointment in which they were an hour late. And did not bother to tell us they were under staffed until I went up and asked what's going on. Then once we got into the patent's room we waited for another 30 minutes before anyone came in. The nurses or aids were nice and I'm sure they all meant well, granted it was late. I'm sure everyone wanted to go home including us. But the way Dr. Lauderdale treated us was absolutly dismissive and disrespectful. She assumed we weren't taking care of our dog when infact he's old and we've done everything including spend over a thousand dollars in medicine and doctor's visits because we care about him. In total, we wasted 2 hours in that office! When we were only really seen for the last 30 minutes. To add insult to injury she slapped an over 200 price tag on the visit that was supposed to be a 30 dollar checkup visit. Absolutly unbelievable!! What would happen if the customer didn't have that kind of money right then? What would they do?! There was no warning of the price of tests/treatments. Also the poor and unprofessional behavior of Dr. Lauderdale is unacceptable! I don't recommend her! If I could give 0 stars I would! That is the last time we will go there! Regretably ending this long relationship.

I have been going here for just about a year and the service has really started to unravel live in the last 3 months. Most recently I arrived early for a three o'clock appointment and was not brought into a room for what was supposed to be a tech visit only until 20 minutes later. after meeting with the tech it was determined that their staff cause confusion and I really did not need to be there for the vaccination or the blood work as my dog was 3 months away from his annuals. the only reason I scheduled the appointment was because I was told on the phone in order to get more heartworm medication he needed a blood test however the blood test was not due until June and I could have easily walked in and bought the medication that day. seeing as how I was already there and my dog is picky I asked them to clip his nails. As I was getting ready to pay my bill I decided to check his nails and noticed that they were not clipped a few minutes later the tech came out from the back and told me that they forgot to do that which in reality was the only thing at this point. This will be the last time I attend this vet. Their lack of communication with one another and the customer makes it a frustrating and dissatisfying experience for the pet owner. Lastly, beware of their unposted policies.

Chrissy Lewis

Awesome! They know how to handle my grouchy lovable cat WITHOUT hurting him. The Vet (Chrystal) is very knowledgeable & cares for animals. The medical assistants are very kind & welcoming at the front desk. I will continue to bring my furry grouchy bundle of joy here.

Kevin Flamm

Ismael, Laura and Dr Lauderdale are very knowledgeable in their profession and explain the diagnosis and remedies in plain language that I can understand. I trust them completely.

Brian Garnant

Dr Lauderdale is the very best vet I have ever met. Knowledgeable and kind. Have had numerous pets and doctors providing for them in my 65 years and many were fine. She is the best. Clinic staff is also very knowledgeable and kindly. Have been going here for 6 years.

wil Brown

well the place is nice enough and the doctors seemed kind...then came the $363.00 dollar bill for a simple bladder infection...funny thing is they didn't solve the problem...called back talked to the doctor...she laughed and said medicine is more an art...huh? all this time I thought there was a lil science invoked... specially since $120 of that bill was for "lab" work...now I need a more expensive test to really figure it out...she says laughingly...

James Van Hout

Been living near this place for the past year and every single day at 8:30am it sounds like they release a pack of hounds. Have been woken up many days this way and many peaceful mornings have been ruined by the noise. The neighborhood is completely quiet except for the dogs... Is there no other process they can do without waking up the neighborhood?

Linda Jaymes

Great caregivers! I trust Mt. Airy completely and board my dog there when I travel.

Horrible disorganized ..... This place totally lacks any level of competence. First time I took my dog vet was great. Second time with cat.... To get spayed a complete disaster. They do no combo testing in house. Hello why would I want to incur further cost without the outcome?? Specifically asked her to deworm......not done. Horrible experience!!!

This place is too big and impersonal. Front desk staff can be rude.

The staff at Mt. Airy Animal Hospital are wonderful. They were always there with a smile when I took in Lewis. Lewis had CH and a number of other disorders and was very special needs. After his passing I really didn't want another animal but this past summer two kittens, Peach and Bean decided that we were the right place for them to grow up and hopefully grow old. This brother and sister pair have enlightened our new home and They will see the staff at Mt. Airy Animal Hospital to keep them healthy and happy. They have already decided the the Docs there aren't too bad... for humans.

ELEANOR YATES

They were so kind in helping us when it came time to put our cat to sleep. They helped make the process easier.

Leah Howse

I've lived in the city for 8 years and have taken my cats to a slew of different vets. When one of my cats was very sick, the doctors and nurses at Mt. Airy Vet provided the very best care - one of the nurses called me every evening to check in - and ultimately were the ones who identified that she had cancer, when others had given incorrect diagnosis. I'm very appreciative of the work they do at Mt. Airy Vet, and the friendly and compassionate way they do it.

Wonderful, caring vet. They really care about my bengal cat Ellie. Always friendly and provided many good tips on the care of my pet. Both the Mt Airy and Andorra locations rock!!

Kristin Mullaney

I love Mt. Airy Animal Hospital but your website is difficult to deal with. I have two dogs and you don't have any way for me to make sure that the appointment is for both of them together. I count on the real people to be able to cope when I show up.

Becky Bentrim

I am always pleased with the service at Mt Airy. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I especially like that I can call up with the smallest question and get an answer within 24 hours. They really seem to know what they're doing at Mt. Airy and I am very comfortable bringing my pets to them.

Easy to make a convenient appointment. Email and snail mail reminders that my cats are due for a vet visit are appreciated. The doctors are warm, professional, do their best to explain things in easy-to-understand language, but do not talk down and do not push you into expensive, perhaps unnecessary treatments.

I have used the Mt Airy Animal Hospital for over thirty years I think...and I have been very satisfied with the service I've had. My dogs have been kenneled there and were always eager to return for appointments with the caring vets and assistants who gave them excellent care and attention. My dogs were groomed there by carefully trained groomers who had them strut their stuff very proudly. They have also faced surgery and sadly, I've had dogs that were put down due to illness and I was granted much understanding and comfort by all. I have since moved away from my Mt. Airy neighborhood where I was only 10 minutes travel time away, but I've continued to use this place due to my great experiences over the years. I now travel 45 minutes to get here, and my dog still looks forward to his care there. I highly recommend this animal hospital and those who keep it going.

Drescallen

A wonderful group of people.

This is the most caring, skilled, loving and professional place to take your animal for medical care. Every visit has been a pleasant experience. They try and remain on schedule to reduce wait time and always take the time to show affection to my dog and reduce his anxiety. I have used 2 other veterinary hospitals before and Mt Airy Animal Hospital is by far the best.

I have been very pleased with this Vet Clínic and more especially Dr. Niggermier. In my 45 years of Pet Ownership she is by far the best and most knowledgeable vet I have had the pleasure to Meeting and Care for my Feline and three Cannines.

Dominique Dutton

The best vet hospital there is! Such a caring and fun-loving staff. Their level of knowledge and experience is beyond superb!!!!

Sharmil McKee

This office is very clean and the staff was very nice. I had an emergency appointment for Saturday afternoon. I waited maybe 5 minutes before I was taken to the examination room. About 10 minutes later, the assistant came in to take my cat's vitals. And about 5 minutes later, the doctor came in. The doctor was super smart. I can't recall the doctor's name right now, but her last name starts with an L. I thought the price was reasonable, maybe I paid $75 for the office. But get this...I had to bring my cat back for a follow up, and they didn't charge me for the second visit! My second visit, I had the same experience. Everything was clean, I smelled bleach, and everyone was nice. This time I noticed a coffee machine and a water cooler, and a TV. I know this place received poor reviews in the past (like 3 or 4 years ago ), but they made serious changes since then. It's worth your time to at least check them out.

Kari Stei

I have been taking my cat there on and off for several years and when I first went it was great. Dr. Slaymaker was excellent with my cat and I was very pleased with him.

This has been my vet for my dogs for the past 20 years and I love them. Even though i now live in SW Center City, I still happily travel to Mt. Airy for my dogs' medical needs. All the vets are fantastic and they go above and beyond to help their clients. They advised me of the lepto vaccine before it was widely advertised based on my personal lifestyle (farm, lots of hiking/camping) and my dogs having a higher potential exposure to the bacteria. When one dog (Heeler mix) tore her ACL, Dr. Andrea Niggemeier did a great job with her surgery and she has been living the same high energy life as if she never had surgery. Thanks for all you do vets and vet techs!

Dr. Jennifer Jones is very compassionate and attentive. She is also very thorough. She has been my pet's vet since 2006. She's the best!!!

they took great care of my baby today, reasonably priced and the staff was very nice and informative. thank you!

I've moved out of the area so had to leave the Andorra Clinic of Mt. Airy Animal Hospital. While I have finally found a nice vet in south jersey (it took me a year and a half to do so), I miss the friendly atmosphere and very helpful office staff of Mt. Airy. To keep in touch, I still purchase my dog's medications through Mt. Airy when I come through town to visit family. By sending in my pet's updated bloodwork, they do me a great service to keep his file open so that we can continue our relationship! I miss Roxborough and the "family" feeling of this business in particular!

barbara doig

they have taken all my animals. then I got mr.t. they took him in when I called for an emergence. thank you so much. mr.t. is doing great.

I love the Andorra office of Mt. Airy Animal Hospital. The doctors there have been amazing to my pets, one dog and three cats, and their service prompt and personable. It is also conveniently located for me, Chestnut Hill resident. Easier to get to with less traffic than driving down G'twn Ave through Mt Airy. I just cut across Bells Mills Rd. to Ridge and I'm practically there. Also, evening hours are also very helpful.

Elena Aldrete

I took my two cairn terriers Max and Zoe for their annual check-up. As usual, the desk staff were very polite and helpful. I only waited only a few moments before seeing the veterinary assistant and veterinarian. They walked me through the steps of the physicals, the vaccinations they needed and the tests they would do. It was expensive, but not compared to other veterinary offices. My husband and I have taken four other cairns to the Mt. Airy Veterinary Hospital over the last 25 years and two cats before that. They have helped us through many ups and downs with our pets, and put them to sleep when it was needed. They have recommended specialists when the needed care was beyond their scope. We have always appreciated their careful care and sensitive support to us and our pets. Today we were treated by Dr. Orr. In the past, we have mostly had our dogs treated by Dr. Lauderdale, but have had occasion to meet with most all of the other vets on staff. I only have the highest praise for this practice. The vet techs have also been very skilled, as well as kind and caring over the years. This winter one of my dogs was having difficulty and needed to undergo a series of tests. It was snowing and icy and my dog was not able to walk the distance to their office and our car was buried under snow. They came to pick us up and take us to the office and then returned us after the appointment. We will stay with this office and the staff as our experience over so many years makes clear that they strive to do their best for their customers and their pets.

Well they sent me an e-mail asking me for a review, so here it is (I've since switched my care to a different office). Cons: 1. Average wait time was well over 30 minutes. That seemed ridiculous. This was over numerous visits over many years. It's just the way they schedule things. I waited over 45 minutes on many occasions. Added negative is a small waiting room with an annoying TV always on and loud scary dogs (for a cat). 2. One of the vets was very rude and insensitive. It was clear that I was a widget and my cat was a widget to her. She was very matter of fact about talking about the cat dying (this is a cat that has lived 4+ years since then). 3. Their end of life care seemed to be very laissez faire. The vet suggested different food, but I had to do the research on where to find it. In the end when my cat was having trouble keeping hydrated, I had to suggest periodic IVs with fluids and my vet seconded it would be a good idea. The fluids not only helped my cat live longer, but also made him feel better. There was no aggression in treating a sick cat, even though the only symptom they could find was him losing weight. 4. Some vets would not make follow up calls with test results when they said they would. 5. Their scales are off/inconsistent. This might sound petty, but one vet was telling me how horrible it was that my cat had lost 6 ounces in 3 months. By using my own scale at home, I was able to identify that their scales in different rooms could vary by as much as a pound. Given they were using weight to suggest a diagnosis, this seemed a significant issue. They didn't dispute what I was saying either, they said because they use dogs on them they get less reliable. Pros 1. They didn't push services like some other vets do. 2. Their costs seemed relatively reasonable. 3. Follow up visits were usually free. 4. Most of the vets were friendly. The receptionists were friendly.

After being given multiple vaccines and a dewormer at MAAH, my dog came home and vomited 7 times. Dr. Slaymaker refused to address the issue because they were near closing time. Another time, I had an emergency, called the MAAH for an emergency visit and was told that there were no available appointments for my pet to be seen that day because they were booked.

They are friendly, helpful, and prompt. The wait time can be a bit long once you are in there, but they do take their time with you and your pet and make sure all your questions are answered. Can be expensive sometimes, but not anymore so than most vets I have experienced.

Kelly who has been more than helpful, caring and compassionate. The three doctors Dr Lauderdale, Jones and Wilkerson are extremely knowledgeable, capable, honest and caring. We had two senior dogs who they took care of and we feel that they also have gone above and beyond in treating them and even extending their lives.

Ilene Applebaum

My experiences at Mt Airy Animal Hospital and Andorra Clinic have always been a positive experience for me and especially my Sammy and Sashi who passed in June and July. For me, Dr. Lauderdale and staff became a second family to me. My guys loved going there! My next Akita will be seen at My. Airy and Andorra!!

My pet has anxiety about being at the vet I understand that can be a challenge. He is an abused rescue animal. I explained all of this before I came, you would think a vet could work with him considering he doesn't even bite. After the vet prescribed mood meds for my dog, and told me to use them one hour before I come in, i thought we were working toward resolution. But once i got home i got a message stating that it would be best if i used a different vet. Now he prescribe my dog a script and isn't even available to follow up. Very irresponsible. People claim that we should adopt rescue pet but vets only want to deal with well behaved lap dogs, well even when I'm sick I am not in the best of moods why shouldn't my dog have the same right.

Mark Danowsky

The doctors and nurses and staff at Mt. Airy Animal Hospital are deeply caring. They are quick to learn about your pet's needs and you will not have to remind them. I thought Mt. Airy was expensive until I moved to a more rural area in Lancaster County and learned this is not at all the case. While I lived in Northwest Philadelphia I stayed with Mt. Airy because I trusted their judgment. Dr. Wilkerson has terrific "bedside" manner and both he and the Mt. Airy staff are good listeners. In some ways Mt. Airy vet is better than so many doctor's offices where it feels you're being pushed out the door (and this in spite of the fact that is it is a busy practice!) In short, Mt. Airy Animal Hospital is worth the cost because your pet will receive terrific personalized care.

Dr. Manson was absolutely wonderful with our cat. He had been sick, and we were concerned about possible major health issues. She diagnosed him with a skin infection and gave him antibiotics and steroids. We were highly skeptical that a skin problem would make him vomit multiple times a day and act so unlike himself. We were proven wrong when, twelve hours after his visit, he was starting to act completely normally again. Three weeks later, no vomiting since the day he was seen and he is back to being him! We are so grateful for that, and we will absolutely be returning to see Dr. Manson!

Tim Granata

Since I got my kitten around her 2 month mark, Mt. Airy has been great with her care. I will continue to bring my animal(s) here

W W Jr

Quick, friendly staff. Dr Lauderdale insisted my cat was not able to see. So she recommended a veterinary eye doctor in Plymouth Meeting. The visit to that doctor was $400 for the specialist to tell me NOTHING is wrong with my cats' vision. Thanks for wasting my money AND half a day off work with personal leave Dr. Lauderdale !

Moon

I give it three stars because whenever we go we either have a great experience or horrible experience there's never any in between or consistency there. Some of the doctors are great and some of the front desk staff are great however some have horrible customer service and are just downright unprofessional. Overall some of my family members have gone there for years I only went briefly but have visited consistently with other people and they are very expensive but typically available when you need help locally and fast.

stephanie luther

I love taking my dog Strawberry here for care. I can tell that everybody here loves what they do. They treat my dog like family!

Helga Vutz

I've been taking my cats to MAAH for several years now. Every visit we are treated with so much kindness and expertise. I feel confident putting my pets in their capable hands.

I decided to try this vet after recently moving to Philly, because it has good reviews and it's close. I brought my gsd in for a nail trim and warned them ahead of time that she was going to be a drama queen. I got there, gave them my paper work to scan in to make my new file, and went in the back to get her nails done. They ended up saying she was too stressed out to clip her nails which I found very disappointing. That weekend, my dog hurt her leg, so I called to make another appointment. They couldn't find my file because they lost my paperwork. After giving them my information again, I set up my appointment for Saturday morning. They told me not to feed her after midnight in case she needed x-rays and had to be sedated. When I went to my appointment, they muzzled her and flipped her on her side and she was yowling the whole time in a crazy amount of stress. I understand that they need to take a look at her legs and back, but it was hard to watch, and I couldn't help but think that it could've been done differently. The vet tech looked at me weird when I said that she couldn't eat because she might need x-rays done. But she conceeded. When the vet came in, she gave me a weird look at told me that they don't even do x-rays on Saturdays!!!! That's something the whole staff should know!!!! Oh and the vet tech that tried to clip her nails a few days prior didn't even recognize us at all during our 2nd visit. So much for remembering patients. I'll be looking for a new vet.

I've only been to this vet twice. We recently moved to Philly and I was referred to this practice based. The actual visits have been good with highly caring staff. My issue is that during both visits they've taken samples for the lab and are supposed to follow up with me with the results. This is the second consecutive time that the office has failed to contact me. I'm now waiting for someone to call me back with the results they received on Monday....its now SATURDAY!!!

Darrell Williams

Took good care of my dog, also got me in on an last minute request, the staff is really friendly.

Jenna R.

Definitely one of the pricier places we've been to, but it was well worth seeing my pup healthy again. The techs are great and the vet we saw was too. It was also a giant relief being able to be scheduled so quickly.

Laura Elena Diaz

Made my kittens first visit, a great one! Such friendly and helpful staff.

Douglas Whitmire

From my experience, the practice operated in a manner that made both my pet and me comfortable. The appointment times are some of the most accommodating, extended hours that I've seen in a veterinary practice. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and were eager to address any health and behavioral questions that I had.

We have been steady clients here for years. The front office, techs, and doctors have all been wonderful with our pets.

Best vet hospital not in the city but in the Tri-State area! They are the only ones that can treat my rescue GSD without her being afraid. I have gone on vacation and have received not just great feedback on my babygirl but she even gave the kennel staff kisses when it was time to go home. I never have to worry that babygirl is safe. Mt. Airy Animal Hospital became part of the family for life..

The staff there were wonderful during an exceptionally difficult time. They showed patience and compassion during a procedure that is, unfortunately, frequently necessary at the end of our loved pets life. Thank you for making a difficult situation as minimally painful as it could be.

We have had excellent care for our many pets over the years. The staff, from receptionists to technicians to doctors, are consistently pleasant and helpful.

I chose this hospital after a lengthy search online. The bios from each and every vet was impressive. Maybe it;s because I'm a PENN grad myself, but I was drawn there. Our previous vet, unfortunately lost their lease and no longer has a facility in which to see patients,My dog Cassius was needed immediate attention. He'd developed a wound on his belly over night. To say I was frantic is an understatement. I called bright and early and the office staff was very friendly and understanding. I was given an early afternoon appt. Upon arrive, of course Cassius was very nervous. the vet tech was very gentle with him and she spoke gently to him to try an calm his stress. I must apologize because although she told me her name, I was so stressed myself that I forgot it. My apology to her if she's reading this review..Then in comes Dr Mooney. What impressed me right off the bat was that without hesitation, she joined me on the floor with my pet. I'd previously sat down on the floor to make him more comfortable. She listened intently to his history and why we were there. She then very gently went about her business of giving him a thorough exam. She gave me the same instructions on what to do with his wound as my previous vet (I'd emailed them a pic on Sunday eve and was told to clean it and use some neosporin on it for a few days). And although I absolutely LOVE our vet, my Silky Yorkie is a SR dog and he needs someplace to go when there's an immediate need. Until Dr Rapp finds another location, I believe we just may have found a replacement home at the Mt Airy Animal Hospital with Dr Mooney. Thank you Rose

Mt Airy animal hospital and staff have once again showed excellent care to my family of 4 pets. They are quick to get you into the office to be seen in an emergency and their vets, techs, and office staff are excellent. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.
