Our family has been using Middle Country Animal Hospital since the late 1990s when we got our first kitten and Lab when our kids were young. Although there are other veterinarians who are in closer proximity to where we live, it has been worth it to us to drive a little farther for better care. We have always found both doctors Evan Clarke and Kerri Cavallo, to be thorough, honest and compassionate with all of the many pets that we have brought over the years. Even in the most dire and life-threatening end-of-life issues, we received counsel by the doctors explaining the pros and cons to potential surgery in a dog who was diagnosed with a mass on his spleen. He was our 12-year-old Golden Retriever and we brought him in for a routine check up. It was at that time that Dr. Cavallo felt that his abdomen was distended and knew from experience that it was most likely a form of cancer. One x-ray later, unfortunately the diagnosis was confirmed. We were also advised that if we opened him to do surgery and found that the cancer had metastasized, it would not have been a quality-of-lif situation. We just dealt with palliative care as advised by the doctor. Despite what some people say,, many Vets and Physicians do have compassion and are entitled to earn a good living given their years of training and expertise. Incidentally, it’s more competitive getting into a University to train as a Veterinarian than a Physician.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this practice to anyone who wants intelligent caring doctors and staff!!!! I have been going to Middle Country Hospital since May of 1995, both veterinarians’ Dr Clark and Dr Cavallo are exceptionally brilliant, and the staff is always extremely helpful and kindhearted. I have and had multiple dogs and cats; they are always well cared for when we are there for either a problem or just a routine visit. I have watched this practice grow because of the care that is given to all the animals. Once you are in the exam room with Dr Clark or Dr Cavallo you have their undivided attention. In the 24 plus years that I have been going there with my animals we all have been treated wonderfully by the staff and the doctors. Their current staff: Kristen Carol, Jocelyn, Jessica, Alex, Stephanie, Stephen, Kyle, Amber, and the rest of the staff have been supportive and kind to my animals and my family. This practice has become a second family to my family and my animals. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. The ultimate compliant is to refer these doctors and their staff and I do!!!!I

Horrible staff very rude. After arriving on time at 6 pm for an appointment, I decided to wait outside because of how small the place was. My dog is very hyper yet friendly and did not want to disturb other sick dogs. After waiting over an hour and no phone call to be seen when being told it would be a half hour to 45 minutes wait. I decided to bring braveheart (my dog) in. I asked why he hasn't been seen and I get a nasty remark from the secretary. "We've had sick dogs all day your dog looks fine just wait". Idk what kind of customer service that is but I am very displeased with the staff and how unimportant they made me feel.

Besides waiting int he room longer then anticipated with a very impatient 7 week old puppy, lol, they were so reasonable and knowledgeable. I just didnt like being pushed to buy their "favorite" flea and tick stuff. Which i wound up not getting anyway...

I have been using this office for almost 30 years... and the doctors have always been wonderful until this happened.... I brought my cat in to have a cancerous tumor removed, the operation went well and was told to come back in 3 months for him to be xrayed again... my cat was filled with cancer... no fault of this office... but knowing how bad it was, it would have been nice if the doctor called to see how he was doing.... well, we had to have him put to sleep a few days later, on a Sunday morning.... I called this office the next evening to explain what happened and the nasty girl, with no heart, said... yea, I heard... sorry... I was so upset, I hung up the phone.... here it is a week later and I've never even received a sympathy card or call from this office.... needless to say, I will never be stepping foot in there again... as one other review mention, the staff with the exception of a few, are extremely rude and no compassion or heart..... Very upset and still crying over my fur-baby...

Can’t believe what you did to that blind pug. Because of your careless, ignorant vet tech not watching after the blind pug after you put him on a table and left him to fall and become paralyzed. Then you had the audacity to charge them for the visit. You shouldn’t be allowed to treat a gold fish. I’ll never recommend anyone to your practice.

i wish i didn't even have to give them one star. Bringing my dog here was one of the most horrible experiences ive ever had. Most of the staff was rude and disrespectful. the woman doctor was the most unprofessional, rude and nasty person ive ever met in my entire life. My dog was very, VERY sick when i brought him in AND he had diarrhea... so while the woman dr was examining him unfortunately he couldn't hold it in and went on the table. the dr was so disgusted with him that she ran out of the room and left us there for 15 minutes so she could go wash her entire shirt (meanwhile nothing got on her it was all on the table) when she finally returned (sopping wet) she refused to come back near him. this same doctor told me that she "doesn't tell owners more than they need to know" because it just confuses them she said to me "when you go to the mechanic do you expect them to explain how the pistons work?" i told her YES I DO! i expect to know why you are making the decisions you're making she told me it was too complicated to explain and i wouldn't understand she told me not to bring my dog to an emergency vet because the staff there "honestly don't know their ass from their elbow" (thanks very professional) most importantly of all she told me my dog had CANCER. turns out he DOESN'T after transferring him out of there and taking him to a real vet (in EMERGENCY) he is doing great. please reconsider this place if you currently take your pet there. they are not only unprofessional but will not listen to you and they are too busy to give the pets the proper care and time that they need. there is so much more i would like to say about how horrible it was there but i think this is more than enough

I would recommend both vets to any of my friends of family with animals. Not only do the vets take their time and make sure they go over everything regarding your pet, but they both have a fantastic bedside manner. Unfortunately I had to put down my dad's cat awhile ago. It was a tough day for me and I was dreading the experience after a nightmare of a time I had with a vet at another facility in the past. Dr. Clark made such a horrible moment as comforting as he possibly could. You could see the compassion in his face and his actions as our sweet cat passed. He was gentle with her, and he let me stay in the room as long as I needed to afterwards before I decided I had to go. When i got out to the lobby one of the staff members had let the other patients know what happened so everyone was rather quiet and respectful when I came out. A few weeks later my father got a card in the mail with her paw prints. It was a sweet and kind gesture that meant a lot to him. They have dealt with my 3 fur babies for over a year now and not a single diagnosis has been incorrect. Dr. Clark is great with elderly or disabled animals which is a plus for me as our dog has IVDD and partial paralysis. He takes the time to really examine and rule out any conditions that are not easy to treat in our dachshund. To everyone complaining about the wait - I get it. It definitely is an inconvenience. But I deal with it because any other vet I went to with no wait saw me for all of 30 seconds, did a half job exam, and left me feeling like they didnt care at all about my pet. At least at this place you know you are getting taken care of. If i have to wait longer because someone is in ahead of me with a really sick animal and Dr. Clark wants to make sure everything is 100% checked out, I am ok with that. I trust everyone at Middle Country Animal Hospital 100%.

If anyone in our area is looking for a vet I would like to recommend Middle Country Animal Hospital. The vets and the staff have been kind and compassionate to us, not only during Molly's extended illness but also when we had to make the decision to put her to rest. We are very thankful that we were allowed to stay with her until the end. Today we received a card from them with her paw prints which I had planned to do and had not gotten around to with all that has been going on. I am also grateful to the woman in the waiting area who was waiting on her dog to be brought out who handed me tissues when we walked out and as they left mouthed "I'm very sorry" to me. Kindness doesn't cost a thing.
