My dog Rusty needed CCL surgery. Dr. Schweingruber confirmed diagnosis and surgery was scheduled. She explained the procedure in detail which included medicines and post-op therapy. The surgery expenses were detailed up front (Reasonable). The surgery went well. I was very impressed with the care Rusty received from Dr Schweingruber and staff. I want to thank Dr Kaslow for many things, 1. He is an amazing Dr, my little Pom Sophia was very sick 6 years ago, he was the only vet that knew what was wrong with her! He keeped her alive an healthy beyond what she should have lived❤️, the past 5 weeks Sophia got really sick, Dr Kaslow didn’t give up!! He tryed everything possible to help her.He would even call me after hours to follow up!! YES, a DR that truly cares even after business hours!!! Sadly on Good Friday Sophia went in for IVS for the day she was very sick at this point, she was in kidney failure, I was there by my self and Dr Kaslow was off that day, but called to check on her and talk to me. I was in the room trying to make a decision that I knew in my heart was right after seeing Sophia was struggling! With in a half hour after talking to him, he showed up in the room with me and Sophia. He helped me through so much in the last moments I spent with her! When it was time it was just me and dr Kaslow and sweet Sophia. I held her in my arms and he kindly put her to rest. I cried and cried!! He took her from me and layed her gently on the table. At that point I was a mess!! He took a soft pick blanket and covered her on the table. I have never met a veterinarian so compassionate in my life!! I just want to say, Thank you Dr Kaslow , I wish all the veterinarian that worked there were exactly like you❤️

I'm not quite sure where all of the negative reviews are coming from and wonder as well if they are speaking of the same facility. I've been going to East Suburban Animal Hospital since 1993 and have 4 dogs and a cat. I couldn't praise this establishment enough. The staff is absolutely wonderful, caring and very knowledgeable. They have tended to every one of my pets needs and have been wonderful from a medical standpoint as well as caring for your pet. I just had to put down my Jack Russell of 13 years because he had cancer and the staff couldn't have been more supportive. Each and every one of them gave me a hug on the way out and then proceeded to send me a signed sympathy card with approximately 20 signatures from their staff with prayers for my loss. I'm an RN and i have to say i would never trust my animals with anyone else but this vet. I would give them 10 stars if i could. Keep up the good work!

I have been going here since I moved into the area about 9 years ago. It is relatively easy to get an appointment here as they have hours in the evening and Saturdays. They can even see you on Sunday for an emergency. All of the doctors are very nice. My dog sees Dr. Yeloushan. He has been very good to us and has taken good care of my current dog as well as my last dog. I would and have recommend them.

I would like to once again say thank you to Dr. Ian Kelly and all the staff at East Suburban for taking such excellent care of Sirona. I don't use the word excellent loosely. I mean it to the full extent. Upon bringing my dog in for the exam and impending surgery. I could tell immediately that I brought her to the right place. I felt a very strong sense of confidence and assurance that my dog would be in the right hands. Dr Kelly very patiently and very thoroughly answered all my questions and explained all my options in full detail. The same was also post op. Every question/concern I had was answered. I'd also like to thank all the girls working on the staff that answered all my texts. Elaine, Erin and Leslie. If I missed someone's name, I'm sorry but ALL I encountered were the total epitome of the best friendly customer service. I would definitely highly recommend anyone to bring their pet to you.

I would never go anywhere else other than East Suburban again! They are the absolute best! My boyfriend and I got a puppy who began to seize and it was terrifying. We took him to another vet at first and they told us to wait it out and it MIGHT go away. We didn't like this answer and wanted to get a second opinion so we came to East Suburban because it was recommended by family and friends. Dr. Schweingruber is absolutely amazing! She was so knowledgeable, comforting, and she did everything she could to get to the bottom of our puppy's seizing. It's been about a month and our boy Aslan is seizure free and back to being a puppy! Dr. Schweingruber is a blessing and I could not be more thankful for her help. I would recommend her to everyone.

We had a great experience here! My parents and I were in town to see family when we found a large lump on our Max's belly that developed quickly and scared us. We called in at about 6pm to see what we could do and they squeezed us in after hours. They didn't even know us and were so welcoming and caring. They did an ultrasound and aspirated the lump, got his prescriptions and everything within an hour. They did such a great job and we really appreciated the help. It was my very first time there, new client. I waited for over an hour when I DID have an appointment. The receptionist had a poor attitude and was not very friendly. When I finally did get into the exam room I waited in there for another 15 minutes. Neither the Vet or the Vet Tech did a TPR on my dog, nor did they ask any questions about his history (and he has an extensive list of issues). They were very rushed, gave him his rabies shot and left. Did not offer any routine blood work, radiographs, flea and tick prevention, NOTHING. Asked me about his other shots that were due, and I do them myself so when I said No they must have assumed I wouldn't do anything else. At that point I didn't even bother asking, I just knew I would be going some place else.

They care more about money than anything else. Last year we needed to board our dogs and they needed a nasal spray 'shot' in order to be boarded. I called to make an appointment for both of my dogs, two weeks before our vacation, but they said they only had appointments the day before our vacation. I explained that this was the day before our vacation, and that I wanted my dogs to have the shots a couple of days in advance so that I could make sure that they didn't have any reaction. That didn't matter to them. We got to the appointment right on time, and by the time that we checked in, it was 5 minutes after our appointment. I will say, they were busy that day. So, after we checked in, the staff said to take a seat. OK, pretty usual stuff. We waited for 35 minutes in the 'lobby'. I turned to my husband and said, "Everyone is coming and going, but we are just sitting here". I asked when we would be seen. The staff said she would ask, and that we were next. We sat back down. 25 more minutes pass. At this point, my dogs needed to pee. I told the lady at the desk we would be outside for five minutes, just to let the dogs pee. She said fine. When we got back, I asked when we would be seen. She went to the back and asked. She said we were next. I looked at my husband and said, let's go. The lady said, "But you're next". I sighed, sat back down, and we waited ANOTHER 20 minutes. I got up, told the desk lady that our time was valuable too, and that this office had punished us enough for being late. Sure enough, she just shrugged her shoulders. This was the first time that we were ever late to a dog appointment, and they decided they would punish us by making us wait for hours, knowing that our dogs needed this for boarding because our vacation was the next day and we were flying out. The kicker on the whole thing? We called the kennel and explained what happened, and they said we could purchase and give the live vaccine from a local tractor market. HAHAHA!!! We gave our dogs their vaccine, AND saved a good $200 dollars!!! HAHAHA!! We have since found a fantastic, caring, vet in Plum Borough called the Holiday Park Animal Hospital. So, in the end, the Joke is on East Suburban Animal Hospital!! HAHA! Keep punishing your customers and their owners! Based on what I hear at three different dog parks, MANY people feel the way I do.

I would give zero stars if I could. Don't risk taking your pet to them if it's ill. Years ago, we rushed our young male Boxer to them overnight because he was struggling to breathe and stopped eating or drinking. I went to visit him while he was in their care, and he seemed much improved. They told me he was getting better and could come home soon. They explained they were keeping him immobile and giving him fluids. I drove home, and received a call minutes after I walked in the door--someone on their staff had walked him downstairs and outside to go to the bathroom--he apparently choked, collapsed, and died. Of course, East Suburban said "Sorry" and sent us a huge bill. This broke our hearts, and we stopped taking our pets there. I really believe they're no better than murderers.

Dr Hullihen took care of my dog Ebony for 15 years. She helped her through two bouts of pancreatitis hip problems and a precancerous lip tumor. The love and care she showed her was second to none. On December 27, 2018 Dr Hullihen was there as Ebony entered doggy heaven. It was the hardest time in my life but Dr Hullihen made it as peaceful as possible. I can never thank her enough for what she did to make Ebony’s life as long as it was. Ebony passed her life expectancy and I owe it all to the wonderful care she received. Thank you again

Worst vibe EVER when Yeloushan dvm walked in poked our German shepherd 3 x's and still didn't get it in! Made my mom and I so uncomfortable. We just needed shots and their nails clipped couldn't even do that and then charged us for a physical we didn't even need!? Best veterinarian clinic I have ever been to. The staff is fantastic. They all love animals. I rarely wait longer than a few minutes. The doctors are great, especially Dr. Ackerman. She is so full of postive energy. I take my German Shepherd there and he actually likes going to the vet! I can't say enough about this clinic. They are wonderful people who truly care. Several years ago I rescued a kitten from the street that was near death. I took it to the clinic. They worked on her but were unable to save her. I wept and left.and gave her a proper burial. A few days later I received a card from the clinic signed by all the doctors and staff, expressing their sorrow at my loss. This is the kind of people they are.

Dr Kelley was our vet this time. He was professional but also very pleasant. We have been going to East Suburban for many years and have always been satisfied regardless of who we see. Our dogs have had surgeries, infections and just about anything you can think of and have been treated effectively. Unfortunately we have had to euthanize three of our dogs there. The staff members are very compassionate in these situations and allow you to participate to the degree you choose. I probably will never go anywhere else and highly recommend them.

I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. I will forewarn you that this will be a long review. I recently moved here from Orlando, Florida. While being there, I owned and operated a small bully breed rescue that was focused mainly on sick, injured, or death row dogs. One if the illnesses we encountered multiple times was Canine Parvovirus, a horrible and disgusting virus. All of the treaments were done at my home, with the permission and supplies provided by our vet. At one point, we had puppy that was on her last breath as we carried her into our vets office. We were immediately put into a sterile room where a Parvo SNAP test was done. It confirmed our worst nightmare was true. Our vet recommended that we hospitalize her but even then he said that she probably wouldnt make it. All I could think about was that we hadn't lost one yet and she wasnt going to be the first! Against our Vets' recommendation, we got our supplies and took her home to start treatment. Every hour she got Sub-cue fluids, medications upon medications, and I was constantly disinfecting her isolation area. She is still alive today because of determination and because I absolutely refuse to let a dog die as long as I am around. Now that you are aware of some back story, this is why I am writing this review.... Today, we got two more pups in from the same litter. Last night, we confirmed Parvo with one pup but we are still unsure of her sister. My wife, who has gone to East Suburban Animal Hospital in the past, recommended that we take them there for tests and to get what supplies are needed to treat them. When I originally spoke to them on the phone, they didn't seem to know much about what I was talking about when it came to Parvo treatment (Aren't they supposed to be the vet??). My mother is the one who took them to the vet to be seen, where they treated her like a leper. Everyone scurried to the back like a bunch of roaches with a flashlight on them once Parvo was mentioned. Not only did they refuse treatment of the pup with Parvo, but they wouldnt even test the other pup for it, which takes about 5 minutes once the test is room temperature. At this point, I was livid. Not only was my mother treated with utter disrespect at an extreme level, but they absolutely refused to do anything for the puppies. My wife called Grace Animal Hospital and told them about our situation, the woman on the phone was in shock about the actions of East Suburban Animal Hospital just like the rest of us. She told us to get the puppies there IMMEDIATELY to be seen. After driving an hour to ESAH, the puppies were taken to Grace Animal Hospital where they are being seen right now. I understand that you need appointments for visits, but I have NEVER been turned away from ANY vet in any state that I have lived in when it was a life or death situation. These "Veterinarians", "Vet Techs", and "Receptionists" if you could even call them that, are extremely cold, unprofessional, and ignorant. I can honestly say that I will NEVER return to this establishment for any reason and I wish all the luck in the world to the animals that are taken there. If they treat people like that, imagine how your animals are being treated if they are left to stay there.

I took my dog here to have his torn ACL fixed, upon referral from his usual vet. Everything went well and Dr. Caslow was a nice enough guy, but my advice to you is that if you take your dog here for surgery and they give you the option of taking him home or leaving him overnight, TAKE YOUR DOG HOME AS SOON AS YOU CAN. When my dog was admitted, they told me he'd stay overnight. When the surgery was over, they said I could pick him up that evening. I wasn't sure what I should do, since they're the professionals, and I felt that an overnight stay would be better for him. Granted, he'd be there alone for most of the night, but I figured he'd be so out of it, he'd sleep through the night and be fine in the morning. It's not that I didn't want him home; I just thought that an overnight stay would be the best thing for him since they are the professionals and it's WHAT THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO DO. So I asked Dr. Caslow what he thought was better, and he said my dog would do better at home, but the choice was still up to me. So I decided to bring him home and I'm so glad I did. It was a long and difficult night, but had I left him at the vet, he would have been alone, terrified, and in massive amounts of pain. He's never had surgery before other than his neutering, so I didn't know what exactly to expect, but after getting through night one of recovery, I don't know why I was given a choice or why having him stay was the default option. I was up all night with him trying to make him comfortable, and if he'd been left at the vet, he would have been absolutely miserable. I'm just a dog owner. I don't know what these procedures are like. When I asked them what would be better for the dog, I should have been TOLD WITH CONFIDENCE that my dog needed to come home, not wishy-washily suggested to that it would be better but not necessary. I was clearly confused and having a hard time with the decision, so it would have been nice to have been given enough information to make the right choice. Everything else with my experience here was just fine, so if god forbid I needed this procedure done again, I'd gladly come back here, so this review is intended to be more of an advisory than a criticism. Just remember that when you bring your pet in, be sure to ask lots of specific questions, and remember that your pet WILL be better off with you; not alone in a kennel with no one to give him his pain pills or take him outside.

I went to East suburban animal Hospital on Sunday during emergency hours on 12/23/2018. My pug was in distress and would not stop coughing and gagging and I was the first and only customer in the place but As soon as I asked them if they could look at and treat my pug they said they were completely booked and could not help me. It took them more time to explain why they couldn't take him in then it would've to just take him back and diagnosed him. The employees at East suburban animal Hospital clearly are not concern about animals in need of care and I will definitely be recommending nobody take their animal there. A veterinarian office that cannot even treat an emergency During emergency hours is a zero star vet in my opinion, And I urge others to think twice before taking your animals there.

Went on a Sunday and had never been there before. Our pup had scratched his ears to the point of bleeding and had fleas. They vet, Dr. S, was very helpful and informative. This is the worst place to take pets. I would never take one of my animals to this butcher shop. I watched them literally torture my mother's cat to death. She went in for a sick visit and found out the cat was having heart failure and needed to be put down. I remained in the room during the procedure. It took them 25 min and 3 different people in this tiny room repeatedly sticking the poor cat with needles. They tried all four legs over and over, sticking the cat 30+ times with needles before shaving the cats throat and stabbing her repeatedly in the throat using such force that at one point they removed one of the needles from the cats throat and it was bent in half. This poor animal suffered for 25 minutes while they tortured it and all I could do was watch in horror, disgust and disbelief. What should have been a quick, painless procedure turned into a nightmare. This is by far the worst veterinarian establishment in the area. Absolutely disgusting

There's a great group of veterinarians and support staff at East Suburban Animal Hospital. They offer day, evening and weekend appointments. Their charges, for office visits and treatments, are comparable to other local veterinary clinics, but their quality of care is far superior. We have taken all of our pets here, to get their check ups and care, for years. And, we wouldn't want to take them to any other hospital or clinic. They truly care about all of their patients and their families. They've actually laid out every care plan option, regardless of cost, to allow the owners to make the best and most informed possible decision, about our pet's care/ treatment. Because they are a hospital, instead of a clinic, they are always available, at least, by phone- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, even on holidays. So, if a situation arises, which necessitates that you need to consult with them, they're willing to provide pet owners with possible care options, to "get our pets through" until the next business day. Even if we ultimately need to take our pet to a 24 hour emergency veterinary hospital, they're able to access all our pet's records. So, they can share our pet's medical information with the emergency hospital. This makes it much safer for our pets to receive medical care, if we're forced to take them any place other than East Suburban Animal Hospital. And, to our knowledge, no other group of veterinarians prioritizes their patient's care to this degree, that they are willing to always be "on- call." It is this level of commitment, which has lead to our pets being loyal patients. And, we encourage everyone to bring their pets to East Suburban Animal Hospital.

Often our perceptions of a practice are at least partially influenced by the outcome of the treatment provided. Despite an unwanted outcome, I highly recommend this practice and will continue using it for my dogs in the future. I lost my 9 year old Siberian Husky to Osteosarcoma a few months ago. I had been bringing "Yukon" to East Suburban since Dr Caslow performed a successful CCL surgery 4 years ago. I was so impressed by the treatment then, that I switched over to his practice permanently. I have always been impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of his staff and all of his veterinarians. Yukon was diagnosed correctly and early, and all my options were clearly spelled out, with the pros and cons as well as the costs of each. We all did our best and were able to give him a pain free period, albeit a short one. I was touched deeply by the kindness shown by everyone we met towards us. I trust them completely and am secure in the knowledge that they did everything they could to help my pet.

I like that the same techs have been there for years. You need constant personal so they know you and our pets. When my dog was sick one vet almost took her home to keep watch. That's above and beyond. Dr. Caslow is just the best. I'm not a trusting sort no matter how good someone is. I've actually argued with vets and been proven right and accepted apologies so this review has some merit.

I dont know where these 5 star reviews come from. I've been very underwhelmed with the treatment here. I've seen 2 drs and 3 techs, none of whom introduced themselves to me. I realize I should have done some more research on my cat's vaccination schedule, but they also didn't talk to me about it thoroughly (because shouldn't you trust your doctor?), didn't bother validating previous vaccines from another center, and brushed off the fact that the injection site is in a certain place because "it's easier to amputate the limb" if the animal develops cancer from it. This was quite literally said to me as I was walking out the door. Why would they say this after treatment and not explain the risks beforehand? I am PISSED and you've quite literally scared this client away for good due to your lack of clear communication.

Used to be very satisfied with this place Kicker: East Suburban went out of their way to contact my new vet after this was updated about two weeks ago to cause trouble. I don't know whether to be impressed or thoroughly disgusted at the level of toxic behavior. Imagine valuing your own ego and going to such great lengths to "get back" at a person. (Original review) In March we purchased Frontline from here instead of from Walmart and now both my husband and i have been diagnosed with Lymes disease due to ticks coming in on our dog. We used all 4 doses in 2 months & still he had LIVING TICKS LATCHING ON ON TO HIM. The package was given to me open, so there's no way to tell if the original contents were in it. The fact that they gave me it open concerned me, but i could always trust them in the past - that trust appears to be very misplaced. *our dog was recently checked for Lyme's disease and he also has Lyme's disease, despite having gotten regular inoculations. So perhaps have your animal tested for Lyme's if you bring him here because apparently the Frontline isn't the only thing that doesn't work. this vet told me over and over again that the vaccines would trigger a false positive I had him checked extensively and he has Lyme's. He has had this for years and this vet just lied to us. Also recently they have been lax in their records keeping, prescribed our dog (with abnormal kidney function) Tramadol (which can cause organ failure). Their computer records are not properly updated, as they have tried to schedule is for repeat vaccinations in the past. Instead of addressing these situations and rectifying them - the facility refuses to take any responsibility for any of this and has done their best to direct blame on to us. They got very upset that i suggested they cover the cost of blood work on our dog given the prescribing of a medication that could harm him. Had the facility seen fit to take responsibility for the situation - things would be very different I don't know what has changed at this facility to decrease the quality of care, but be very aware of everything prescribed & ever procedure done. Do not buy Frontline from here
