The staff is awesome here! From the ladies at the front desk to the techs and doctors, everyone showed care and concern for me and my pet during my visit. The techs and doctors didn't rush anything and were quite gentle with my cat (who was quite nervous and scared). Thank you for what you do! Dr. Lion is the best!

When we were new in town, we shopped around quite a bit before settling on this veterinary practice, and we've always been happy with the care we have received. We generally see Dr. Porter or Dr. Calvert, and they have both been gentle and reassuring with our anxious dog, and have gone out of their way to be flexible so that he is comfortable. We saw Dr. Calvert on our most recent visit, and I was impressed by how well she remembered my dog and his (pretty minor, unmemorable) health issues. She was unhurried, paid attention to my concerns, and looked up some information for me before I left. Also, I appreciate that before we left the examination room Dr. Calvert asked about our comfort waiting in the reception area, and offered us the option of waiting in the exam room -- my dog can be reactive with others, and I really appreciate the attention to keeping him and other patients safe and comfortable.

9/5/18 Update The owner reached out to me and we had a very meaningful conversation about the issues I experienced, and how they planned to address them. I will update this review when I go back to see if the changes have been made. After many years of my own and families patronage at this establishment, it is time to move on. My family has been coming to this business for years my dad brought his dogs here since 1989 and during my childhood, I remember bringing all of our pets here over the years. When I moved out and got a dog of my own it was only natural to continue to use the same establishment that I thought I had a great rapport with. That all changed the last two visits there. My dog had a minor ear infection and I knew what the protocol would be to get him feeling better. This happened on both visits the give the animal a pheromone coated bandanna. Now I have been to a few other vets over the years and I am more than willing to be proven wrong but with my dog, it doesn't work and is a waste of time spent where they could be organizing files or spending time creating real policies to follow or managing time better. The exam went fine, and Dr. Smart was very informative and charismatic. Then the check out process came and this is where it went downhill, I understand they are busy but that doesn't give them the excuse they needed today to justify it. I will keep the techs anonymous, but the girl who checked me in and brought over the bandanna was visibility flustered, I could see the stress in her face, she blew me off and ran over to a dog who just came in to give them a bandanna. Then she told me that my files weren't ready so they couldn't check me out. So I stood in the middle of the room while she ran around, gave my dog treats that I asked her not to give him, and made the environment more stressful than it needed to be. If the paperwork wasn't ready then why did the vet, and the tech tell me to stand outside on the "dog" side and wait? I should have been allowed to say in the unoccupied room, as they didn't need my room, it was still open when I left so I could have easily waited in there. When I go to my PCP I wait in the room till they are ready for me to check out. Why is this so hard for a vet's office to figure out. The new girl there even agreed with me and said Amen! I walk over to a long time employee there (I remember her there since I was 5) and I asked her what happened? She said that new owners took over about a year ago and that is when I noticed the changes and not changes for the better. From being a disorganized mess, files misplaced notes not taken down and I witnessed the new girl hang up on a customer this was my last visit here. I would be more than happy to share my experience with new owners as I feel they need to do a lot before more people write reviews like this. A few of my friends have even noticed a downturn in this establishment and its sad, as this was once the best Veterinarian's around. I am extremely dissatisfied with their service, and I hope the new owners reach out to me to correct the problem; however I doubt they will. The Patient Manger has advised me that the owner will be reaching out to me. I hope we can reach a mutual resolution.

I had a great time bringing my kitten to her first vet appointment here. Setting up an appointment was painless and the staff was straightforward about their prices over the phone. (1st kitten visit with shot, stool sample test, feline leukemia test, and flea treatment Revolution totaled about $120.) The staff was super friendly when I arrived, asking to see my cute kitty and held her. The vet tech was friendly and Dr. Porter was very knowledgable. She made kitty very comfortable during her exam and answered all of my questions thoughtfully. My kitty loved it there. The only part she didn't like was the car ride!

Dr. Calvert and the vet tech, Yvonne, are the best. They take all concerns seriously and deal with all the dogs needs. Beau and Duke could not be in better hands than theirs. Dr. Calvert always takes time to explain any concern we have and we love her for that. Also, Yvonne always makes a point of saying how much she loves our dogs and that is very much appreciated.

Staff was friendly but they claim to be fear free but seemed more fearful than anything. Our friendly German Shepherd who had no problem with our previous vet in the Pittsburgh area had to be muzzled and put in a calming bandana so they felt safer cuz they didn't want to get bit when they gave her a few shots which she normally has no problems with and then they didn't even do the full exam.

I’m always impressed with the excellent care and compassion from every staff member at Centre Animal Hospital. My anxious and reactive dog received such gentle treatment that she now LOVES going to her vet. Their follow-up by phone and email is outstanding—Dr. Calvert not only provided great instructions, she helped me understand the pros and cons so I could make the best decisions for my pup. Dr. Porter quickly diagnosed an ear infection/allergy combo and prescribed meds that gave quick relief to an very uncomfortable dog. Many thanks for the great care!

Center Animal Hospital is excellent I would highly recommend it to anyone. They have taken great care of my Bichon and they are always there if I call or if I need some answers. Our vet is absolutely wonderful he's very caring and loving and that means a lot to an animal owner because they're part of our family. The best part of Center Animal Hospital is that everything is explained in great detail as to what problem I'm having with my dog and that I appreciate very much. My Nellee is a service dog and means the world to me that's why I'm so happy that I found a vet that is so loving and caring towards dogs and cats all animals. I really don't mind the drive to State College because I feel that my Nellie Bell is well taken care of. She will be 10 years old on July 4th and I want to do everything I possibly can to keep her healthy and happy and I feel that's Center Animal Hospital help me through it all.

I've been extremely happy with my experiences with Centre Animal Hospital. When we moved here, I brought my 10 year old cat in. Dr. Calvert discovered an allergy and a thyroid problem that other vets had failed to diagnosis. Within two weeks, my elderly cat was playing around like a kitten again! Any time one of our pets has needed immediate attention during office hours, they will squeeze us in. The staff and vets are all top notch! I trust them with all of our pets lives and recommend them to anyone!

If you want a vet who will make you feel like your pet is their most important patient, look no further. I have 3 dogs who have all been seen by the staff at CAH and each time we visit they make us feel like we are family. From the calming bandanna given at check in to the careful time taken to make sure my dogs are comfortable and not frightened, I’m always very happy with the experience. The doctors all provide very thorough notes to send home with me so that I can reference them later if I forgot something and they are always very flexible with scheduling. Recently, we had to make a trip to the ER vet (it was a Sunday) and the very next day one of the CAH staff called me to make sure everything was ok and to check in. I really appreciate them.

I am always so happy to bring my cats to the vet. I love everything from coming in the door to leaving. The receptionist (who, I'm so sorry don't know her by name) is the most lovely caring person. Dr. Lion treats both of my cats with patience; one who doesn't get fussy at the vet and one who does. This last time she literally met my cat where she was, on the floor. That was impressive. All the techs who help with care have always been outstanding as well. Great facility. Can't say enough good things about these people.

Our dog required surgery to repair a damaged ACL and one of the veterinarians specializes in this procedure. We're very pleased with the care our pet received as well as the results... Less than a year later, he's got full use of the injured leg, and you'd never know there'd been a problem because of the way he (our dog) would run around the house, if we'd let him. ☺

I have been bringing my Mastiffs here for OFA Hip & Elbow testing for over a decade. The 2+ hour drive is well worth Dr. Michelotti's skill and experience with giant breed dogs. I will never take my Mastiffs anywhere else for their OFAs as long as he works there.

I was introduced to this vet when I first moved to the area by chance and I haven't ever considered leaving. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable across the board and I've never felt my two huskies weren't receiving the best of care. They aren't all about the money either. The staff at Centre Animal Hospital will go out of their way to answer phone or e-mail questions and accompanying photographs without bringing you in if it isn't required. They also are very flexible if you need to get in there in a pinch. My youngest Siberian tore his dewclaw this morning and they were able to get me in within 2 hours of calling and the ENTIRE staff present assisted in helping get things cut/cleaned up/bandaged. If you're looking for a top notch vet in the area don't look any further!
