Last week, we took a little kitten that was found wandering near my wife's work. Diagnosed with respiratory infection and parasites, which we figured; however, the antibiotics they gave aren't even on the "on-label" use for this type of infection. Over the course of the week, the little guy seemed to be getting worse, not better. Took him back last night because he was in distress with stool and urine everywhere, a fever, and was barely responsive. Staff didn't seem concerned of his condition and informed me he was stable while I waited over an hour to see a vet. I explained that I didn't think the antibiotics were appropriate but the vet kept saying there are no inappropriate antibiotics (which is totally false, look it up) and that it didn't matter that they prescribed two antibiotics that are counter-active with each other (basically meaning he had *no* antibiotic coverage for his infection). Had the same experience as others posted where they gave us an estimate in $1000 dollar ballpark and wouldn't treat (not even an x-ray) until we signed it. The kicker is they said they didn't know what was wrong with the cat (here's a hint, untreated respiratory infection). The vet talked to us like we were complete idiots and had no bedside manner. So, given the very large estimate (and don't get me wrong, a life is worth far more than a grand) and the prior failed treatment, we were uncomfortable leaving him there because they wouldn't allow us to stay in the treatment area with him. We took him home, this time with the proper antibiotics prescribed (too little, too late) with the hopes of seeing a more caring and compassionate vet in the morning. As I write this, I'm still blinking through the tears because our little guy died in my arms at 2:30am gasping for breath because his infection had invaded his lungs and overtook him. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of accountability in PA regarding pets as the law considers them "property"... I hope this saves someone else the heartbreak of what I just experienced.

We brought our dog in for an emergency (he's fine now) and could not have been happier with our experience. Dr. Weisberg was the vet that night. Dr. Weisberg and all staff that we worked with cared for the well being of our dog and were kind and knowledgeable. Best of all we were not there for that long and they figured out what was wrong with our dog! We have a regular vet that is closer to us, but in the future I would go there again if we had any sort of pet emergency.

This was my first time using the vet! I was impressed staff was friendly and knowledgeable kind to my Baby which is very important to me! The Veterinarian herself was very friendly and explained everything to me and was very loving to my baby Zoey! And very knowledgeable and went out of her way for even the littlest things. You could tell she love animals! The facility was clean and without any odors . I was very pleased and Thank God they are there when we need them with the 24 hr service ! God Bless and thank you

This is our 3rd trip hear dealing with "emergencies". The staff are fantastic, and the doctors carefully explain to you the medical situation & several options. I've never felt they opt for the most expensive option. Great, and always spotless inside.

Dr Neubaum is the best. She was very sincere, compassionate. She gave us answers that other vets, even specialists, couldn't give us. I felt safe leaving my little guy in her care.

Don't waste your time and money going to this place. It cost me $85 just to get an estimate of how much it would cost to treat my cat and they didn't do anything for him. They said the bill would be $1300 or more. The cat died 1 hour later. These people are only concerned about money.

I’ve had to bring my dog here several times and always receive fast, professional and reasonably priced service.

These people are awesome!!! They are caring and have a lot of compassion. Very helpful to me, because my cat didn't make it. But they tried everything.

We would like to thank you so very much for the special gift of Toby's pay print and the thoughtful words that accompanied it. Your act of kindness means a lot to us. As we are still grieving the loss of Toby. We wish you the very best and thanks again.

Thank you to all of you for taking such good care of me while I recuperated with my tail injury. Your patience and loving care was very much appreciated. I loved visiting you and I was never afraid because I knew you would make me all better. - Ellie

After receiving an incorrect diagnosis and treatment from an "old" vet clinic on a trail near Shrewsbury, I went to the Animal Emergency and Referral Center in York. They promptly uncovered the problem and provided the correct care and treatment. The service was prompt, courteous, and well informed. I only wish that we had gone to the Animal Emergency and Referral Service Center sooner.

Nothing like bringing your new kitten for X-rays and a blood test and wait two hours only too walk him out in a box

Highway robbery. Those are the only words to describe this company. Our cat has had urinary blockages before and our normal vet usually gives him a catheter and we can bring him home the next morning. I brought him to this place because it was a Sunday and our normal vet is closed. I sat for 3 hours just waiting for them to give me a quote on the cost for the catheter and pain meds. After 3 hours they brought me a quote that was 4 times what our normal vet charges us for this treatment. Just the overnight stay was nearly $500. I think they are taking advantage of people because they know they have the market cornered for emergency veterinary care and I personally find it disgusting.

The best care my dog has ever received from a vet of any kind. We have had double-knee surgery with our dog Magnus, and shortly after he was cleared he was hit by a truck. The surgery went great for his knees and the entire process was simple. After he was hit by a truck I took him in and within an hour of being there I already had an estimate for what he needed to recover. Obviously the expense that comes with proper care for your pets is not cheap, but in these peoples hands I trust that my pet is receiving the best care and is totally worth every penny.

My dog had increased thirst and urination and was curling up in a ball and shaking while he was sleeping. We called our vet and set up an appointment, but later that night we saw he had leaked urine while he was sleeping which is not like him at all. He's a little over a year old so it wasn't an "old age" issue. We became concerned and decided to just take him to the emergency vet. The wait time to see the vet was about 35 min, which I didn't think was bad, but when he did come in, he sort of dismissed our worry and said, some dogs just drink a lot of water. He looks great, I'm not worried about him. You could just go home and limit his access to water. I asked to have blood work done to make sure. He agreed. Then a nurse comes back and says his White Blood Cell Count is off the charts and they want to pull another sample and run it again to be sure the results were accurate. I said ok, and we waited some more. The vet comes back in (we've now been at the office for 2+ hours) and says they ran the blood work 3 times and he's really concerned and that we should give him as much water as he wants. He seemed REALLY concerned , but I had to prod about exactly what he thought it was pointing to. Which he seemed unable to do. He said we should send his results to a pathologist and wanted a urine culture done before they give us antibiotics and that he needs to be diagnosed/treated in the next 24 hours. I asked for a new quote for this test, and a girl comes in later with an estimate of $1,245. He wanted to do an x-ray to confirm there was urine in his bladder (which believe me there was - he was peeing constantly), then use a catheter to collect the urine, and then a bunch of other things I think were totally unnecessary. I declined and said I'll call my regular vet in the morning, paid the $458 bill for the blood work and consultation, and got ready to leave. The tech comes out and says, "he wanted you to withhold water", and I said, no, he wants us to give him as much water as she wants", she walks away with my debit card. When she comes back she corrects herself and says to withhold water before my vet collects urine. The next morning my vet gets his blood work and I call in to see if I can bump up my appointment so she can collect urine and I can get antibiotics (the emergency vet was SUPER concerned that he needed antibotics NOW). My vet disagreed, said after looking over everything, I could collect the urine myself by catching it in a container and dropping it off (no need for x-ray, catheter, etc), and that in her opinion he would be fine until our appointment in 2 days no need for a pathologist. I have learned my lesson. I'm not taking my pet to an emergency vet again unless it's a because of trauma or critical illness. Their vet lacked the experience and communication skills to properly advise me prior to testing based on my account of symptoms, explain the test results, or even make eye contact. I will never go there again.

Upon reading some of these reviews I didn't want to take my dog here. So glad we did . They worked with us and the vet on duty that night literally saved the life of our 3 year old German Shepherd so thankful for them !!!

brought my cat in had to wait hours and then they just ended up putting her down horrible experience will never forget this

Just Truth

Thieves!! took my dog with an obstructed colon, After hours of waiting in the middle of the night, we were told they will do the procedure and were reassured that it was something they could do there. made us signed a "contract" for the services they were going to provide and told us we could pick our dog up in the morning. Next morning we received a phone call from the doctor to tell us that he could not do the procedure and that we have to take her to a different hospital. $1540 of billed services that were never provided!!! we confronted the doctor as to why he did not clearly told us the night before that he could not do it and to take her somewhere else? no replies...!! Veterinary services have become nothing but a way to rip people off. No common sense, no honesty, a real shame!

From start to finish our experience with Animal Emergency & Referral Center of York was top notch. They were kind and caring throughout our experience and will recommend this center to everyone.

I called and asked if they were busy because I discovered my dog had an ear infection at 8 pm. They said no not at all come on in. I leave right away. I get there 15 minutes later and they say the doctor is about to do a procedure but they can culture her ear and doctor can approve meds. So I sit and wait. An hour later another girl says that it’s not possible that she will talk to the first girl. Still sit and wait no one comes back to tell me what’s up. WTH, is it yes or is it no?!?! If it was a no I would just have waited for her regular vet to open in the a.m. The 2 girls are obviously polar opposites and should not be working together! So unprofessional!

Not happy with our experience. This is in reference to our Chinchilla. The only positive experience was the girl at the front desk. She was nice. When we got there, it took about 30 minutes before they took our Chinchilla in the "back room". We were then put into another private room. In almost an hour, someone came in and said the doctor would be checking out our chinchilla soon (what? she hasn't even been seen yet?). After another 30 minutes at least, the doctor came in and said that she needed to take some xrays and AFTER THAT, she would give me an estimate on the cost given what she would find. I asked how much the x-rays cost and she told me $156 each, and Chachi (our chinchilla), needed two. After another 30 minutes or so, she came back and gave me her diagnosis and said she wanted to keep her overnight. The estimated cost was almost $800. There was little to no sympathy or concern. They slapped down a piece of paper with the price and told me it needed paid when I picked her up the next morning. I looked at the girl and said, "Let me be real for a moment. If I don't have the money to pay this full amount on the spot, you're just going to let her die?" Basically, yes. Luckily I had the funds and paid half of it up front and was going to pay the second half the following morning. We waited another 30 minutes before we were allowed to say goodbye to our furbaby for the night. Not even an hour after I got home I got a phone call that Chachi had just passed away. Again, little to no sympathy or concern. No "I'm sorry's". So I called this morning to finalize whatever needed done. They wanted to charge me to cremate her so I told them I'd just pick her up. Then they said out of what I had already paid, they owe me $12 back. How much of what I paid for did they actually do? She was only under their care for about an hour. Majority of the bill was for the overnight stay, plus a list of about 10 items that she would be injected with throughout the night, not to mention again that she passed away within about an hour. This isn't so much a negative rating because my pet didn't survive, but the lack of true concern and sense of emergency just completely lacked. Would never take another animal there again.

I have a 3 year old cat who is precious to me. When he was sick and in their care I called every couple of hours for the two days he was there. They never got irritated with me, encouraged me to continue calling, and continued to share updates with me. The staff were kind and had positive things to say about working with him. It was a bad situation but good service!

I cannot thank your staff enough, today March 22nd in the middle of a terrible snow storm we had to take our Alaskan Malamute, Stormy Ray, to your facility to be put to sleep. We had never been there before and everyone of your staff was so very helpful and they helped our girl pass to her next life so peacefully. What an amazing staff and facility you have and we cannot thank you enough for your caring and compassion toward our beautiful girl and us. One of the most beautiful things was that they took us to a private room just for the comfort and privacy of her and us. Also they give you a imprint of your pets paw in a beautiful case with a place for a picture to remeber them. The community is so fortunate to have you in it. Our girl fought hard, after being diagnosed with cancer 8 months ago and beating it. But in the end her hips gave out. She was a great dog. We thank god for giving us her for 13 amazing years. Love her, miss her.

Its hard to write a review on a place where you take your loved ones during an emergency. My Doxie had a very bad reaction to a series of vaccinations the vet up sold my wife, in PA you only need rabies. Anyway she broke out in hives and couldn't keep water down. She progressed to a very bad state. The vet didn't get back to us until he was out of the office. We rushed her to this facility. The staff was calm, and pleasant. This was at 11PM being a former 3rd shift worker I understand people aren't as spry as 1st shift people. The service was quick and effective. And in the end, that's all that matters. I'm just so thankful a talented team like this is willing to be up all hours of the night to help. Who knows what might of happened to my dog if they were not open. So if anyone from that staff is reading this, thank you. FYI their prices are amazingly good. Things aren't free people. Don't own a pet if you can't afford the care they need.

Took my Shepherd in at 2am for bloat. Called them enroute, and when I arrived they were ready and had my dog into surgery within minutes. I am happy to say that my dog survived what is often fatal. The veterinarian explained what was going to be done, offered alternatives, and assisted with financing. Staff were all friendly, professional and had a sincere desire to do what was best for my dog. Would recommend this team for any emergency your pet runs into.

Went with my sick pet about a week ago after seen a local vet that refused doing blood work on my loved dog and had prescribed some medications that I wasn't comfortable giving her with out a careful examination. Had the good luck of being taking care By Dr Angela Neubaum who did blood work and found that my dog has an enlarged liver and then did x-rays to verify and effectively that was exactly what was happening to my doggie. Now my dog is in a very extrict diet and have to check back in a month to see how she is doing and decide what needs to be done next to give her a happy and healthy live. Thank you Dr Angela Neubaum for all your wonderful care and for taking the time to give my baby such a great and careful examination I'm very great full and wish you all the best!!

They were NOT Attentive what-so-ever! I came in with two dogs, who couldnt walk, after being there for 2.5 hours a doctor finally came in. At this point Dr. Angela Neubaum came in. ( who I just discovered does NOT have a bio on their website... claims it's coming soon...) she came in my one injured pit bull was barking, still on a leash in my hand, mind you, she was loud and the room made her bark even louder. Dr. Showed fear of her as I was explaining I didn't know what happened because they were under the care of a friend while we were away for the weekend. I was speaking louder to mask the barking & speaking fast, and crying as we've been there 2.5 hours and I was panicked about the injuries.. they couldn't walk and clearly needed pain meds ASAP! She told me she was going to leave the room so I could calm down... as to which I said how long we've been waiting... she said "I don't care how long you've been waiting, you need to leave MY facility or I'm going to call the police!" I was already upset and crying before, that made it much worse! .... what kind of doctor has that little respect and had no care as to the clearly injured dogs bleeding all over "her" floor! She then left the room, making it seem she was calling the police... I opened the door and begged her to look at the dog that was worse off and told her I would leave the building, which was asinine! She had another lady come in and scream at me to not yell at "her" doctors... what the hell happened is beyond me. There was no yelling, just me trying to explain over my loud dogs barking that I did not know why they were injured.... I left the building with the dog she was wary of... and was sobbing in the parking lot thinking they would mistreat the dog I left in there! Two respectable women came out to give me a bill which I had to pay 1/2 of the $610 in the parking lot... they went inside ran my card and I signed in the parking lot asking them to apologize to the doctor I wasn't yelling at her just over my one dog... they made me feel like an ass... after being outside with one injured / bleeding dog for about 20 mins they said I could reenter the building... this happened September 27th, 2015. After 5 hours in the waiting room they finally took my other dog back. I was in their 2nd waiting with a peep hole so they can look in my room.. and they still had not brought back the first dog just said she has multiple staples in her two front legs... over 21 between the two legs. They said that her leg was fractured, yet they couldn't tell me the severity of it they casted it gave me x-rays my home vet did end up seeing them and said no fracture just dislocated toes... that's quite the difference. They enjoyed seeing me upset told me to search a bone doctor for the surgery that she would need for the fracture that wasn't even there.... they unnecessarily put the staple in my second dog when all it needed was a little glue if that. They shaved half of her put some sort of antibiotic ointment on told me they would send me home with some antibiotics spray they never did. .. after the doctor decided to finally come back her first words were " are you calm now?"... it's been 5 hours with no up dete, no. But I kept my mouth shut. I saw my second dog before the first that they took hours before... they also failed to help her cracked nail past the vein... I mentioned it and they were going to clip them.... well the Clippers didn't cut it so she grabbed it with her gloves and yanked it off my dog... and I mean YANKED like she was about to rear back to throw a baseball! I was mortified! The grand total between two of them was well over $1,000, we were there for a total of 8 hours. & I left feeling embarrassed, and taken advantage of... it was a horrifying experience to say the least. 22 staples, multiple flesh wounds, 7 meds, a misdiagnosis, 8 hours sitting in there feeling like a threatened child... I will NEVER GO BACK, EVER!!! never in my life have I had someone say they were going to call the police on me... thanks Dr. Angela Neubaum for adding insult to injury.

Uncommunicative, unprofessional, and untruthful. I took my cat in for emergency care at their Mechanicsburg facility and had an absolutely unbelievably horrific experience that would have resulted in the cat's death (for no good reason) if I had listened to their lies. My complaints afterward were directed to the Practice Manager of the York facility, because it oversees the Mechanicsburg off-shoot. While it appears from what others have said that the staff at the York facility are at least competent unlike their brethren in Mechanicsburg, the management in charge of these facilities is useless. First their offer of an "immediate" refund took five days before they told me that they needed my credit card number again in order to initiate one, and even that was only asked for because I contacted them to find out what the delay was. I heard nothing further from them (despite another attempt at contact on my part) until after I told them I had initiated chargeback dispute procedures through my credit card company. They had the nerve to be outraged with me for doing so, because they had put the refund through already and it was my bank's fault it hadn't processed yet, not theirs...never mind the fact that at no point did they contact me to even acknowledge that they had received my credit card number, let alone done anything about the refund, so given their previous lack of effort what else was I to assume when I heard nothing but that they had continued to do nothing? When the refund finally came it turned out to be for roughly 1/3 of what I had initially been offered (seemingly because they could not wrap their heads around the fact that I was charged numerous times for treatment, not just once, over the course of the 25 hours I was involved with their facility, because they only refunded one of those amounts). My further attempts at contact went completely ignored until after I was contacted by staff from the Willow Mill Veterinary Hospital, the daytime partner of the Mechanicsburg branch, who were shocked to discover that I had left an unsatisfied review for them online without trying to contact them first, which is how I discovered that there is basically no communication between the daytime and nighttime staffs at this facility either. After going a few rounds with them, word seemingly got back to the Practice Manager at the Animal Emergency Center of York that I remained unsatisfied, which was apparently a surprise to her. She had no idea that I had found her complete lack of communication problematic, and e-mailed me to say as such. In the process she inadvertently revealed that her staff had knowingly lied to me about my cat's treatment options in such a way as to enable them to encourage me to euthanize him without cause. I responded by explaining why I had found her lack of replies unsatisfactory, as well as pointing out that I was now additionally outraged by this new information about the attempted murder of my cat. That was over a month ago. I have received absolutely no communication of any sort since--nor the rest of that refund. If you come here, be cautious; while it appears you will be fortunate enough to receive proper treatment from the staff at the York facility, unlike what I encountered at their Mechanicsburg branch, the same management are in charge of both facilities. This means that if you do have any problems with your pet's treatment, don't expect anyone to be willing to help you resolve them...or even respond to you at all. Communication is supposed to be a two-way street, but here at the Animal Emergency & Referral Center, it's apparently a one-way dead end.

My Dog woke us up at 3am scratching her ears, and shaking her head. The vet didn't examine her- gave her a shot to subside the itching temporarily. THEN SENT ME HOME WITH EAR CLEANER INSTEAD OF THE ANTIBIOTICS THAT SHE NEEDED. The tech didn't want to help me clean her ears- even though the vet said she would. Two days later(after the weekend) my regular vet called and was concerned because my dog wasn't getting antibiotics( emergency vet faxed a report over). When I called Animal Emergency I was told " We don't take business from your regular vet, so no you didn't get antibiotics. Go see your regular vet " Only in it for the MONEY! They don't care about the animal, they were happy to charge over $200 for a steroid shot, and ear cleaner. NOT Help my poor sweet dog get better. P.S. not a single person/animal there other than me, so their lack of caring can not be excused with we were busy.

Thank you so much for helping our fur babies!

We have unfortunately had to seek out the services here on two occasions in a month. I will say that they are truly wonderful here. My 11 yo dog had bloat about a month ago among other medical problems and there was only one decision to be made. I was a wreck and also 1 hour away. They let my husband wait with our dog after pain meds for me to arrive over an hour and then they allowed me to spend time with him until the end. We never felt rushed. I could not be more grateful - they were compassionate and accommodating. Everyone we encountered was wonderful and although that was one of the worst days of my life - they made it as easy as it could be. Recently, we went back with our puppy having a severe allergic reaction. They took him back quickly and gave him meds. They gave him back to us and a room quickly and observed him for improvement which thankfully he had. I never think about prices but I think it's been reasonable and I would pay more for the service we receive here. Dr. Miller is wonderful! With all the high praise, I still hope we don't have to utilize their services anytime soon :-X

Unfortunately I have 2 experiences with the animal hospital due to life threading threats to my English Bulldog and most recently with my Golden Doodle. In both cases they saved their lives. After reading some of the negative reviews, I have to respond by saying I have never been with anything but respect and a true compassion for my pet. They are expensive but they are board certified vets and are very good at what they do. No I can't afford it, but my pets are like my kids. Would highly recommend them for an emergency for your pet. The receptionists, staff, and Drs have been wonderful

DO NOT COME HERE..TRASH SCATTERED ACROSS THE FRONT LAWN, UNPLEASENT STAFF WHEN YOU WALK IN THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR DR.MONROE SUPPOSEDLY TOOK AN ULTRASOUND AND A $63 X-RAY OF MY CAT WHO WAS IN LABOR I NEVER SAW THE X-RAY AND HE TOLD ME THERE WERE ATLEAST FOUR KITTENS TO BE BORN AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS ALL GOOD MY CAT HAD FOUR STILLBORN KITTENS LATER THAT DAY CALLED TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY HUNG UP ON US DISGUSTING DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR ANIMALS THEY ARE JUST LOOKING FOR MONEY

Waited for almost 2 hrs just to get a room, its an emergency vet, shouldnt have to wait that long, having more than 1 dr in the office would be a good start, esp on the weekend. The staff arent very compassionate esp shawn at the front desk,he makes me sick, poor atitude, and when the phone rings he says jesus christ just before picking it up,disgusting. He should not be there. I know we are a pain in the butt shawn but its your job! If i ever need an emergency again,i wont be going there. The actual care of my animal was just ok.

We unexpectedly had to rush our 7 yr old Rottweiler to the hospital for labored breathing. Unfortunately, we were advised she had cancer in the lungs and chances of survival were slim to none she would even make it through the night. Unfortunately, we had to euthanize her as she was in a lot of pain. Dr Collins and the entire staff were kind, considerate, and gentle. Their demeanor was just what you hoped for, especially when our baby had shown no other signs up until this event. To say we are devastated is an understatement, but they truly showed compassion. Thanks to Dr Collins and the staff for being there. RIP Maisy! Easter Sunday 2019

It's hard to put into words how wonderful my experience was. Took my dog here thinking she was just sick, and ended up having to put her down. The entire staff was so caring and accommodating. They went above and beyond my family. My dog received excellent care from all staff. Yes it can be pricey to take your pet here, but you have to remember they offer emergency services, just like an ER at a hospital, which means increased prices are to be expected. And because they offer emergency services it is not always a first come first serve practice, the most emergent cases are seen first, as they should be. I feel like the staff was very open about expenses and pricing was very clear. These staff members work long hard hours, please be kind and patient to them, they deserve it.

ladytube64

I had very good care for my kitty...late Sunday night visit...the hospital was very busy but was taken care of in a timely fashion.

Our cat needed a shot of antibiotics and an abscess clipped and cleaned there was no one else here when we got here. Now we're 2 hours in haven't seen the cat for an hour and 45 minutes got kicked out of the room we were in to sit in a waiting room full of people. I will never come here again.

I noticed My 11yr old Pitbull feeling uncomfortable when I would take her on her daily walks. I figured it was the sidewalks since she's used to walking on grass often but when I started seeing her lick her paws and noticed them red and sore, I decided to take her to the Animal Emergency of York. At the time we walked in she was limping Feeling uncomfortable and anxious because of the fact that she Hates the vet. After checking in with the front, paper work, etc, I was so fortunate to meet Dr Angela Neubaum. While telling her a little history of my pit, she was making my dog feel comfortable in the environment she doesn't like to visit. Which helped a lot when the doctor did her exams and blood work, I think my dog forgot that she was in the vet something my dog has never done. The doctor explained to me her diagnoses and what I would have to do to relieve my pitbull of her uncomfortness. I was prescribed with the proper allergy medicine and helpful soothing solution which i would have to apply on then affected areas of my dog and within a day or two I saw results and my dog was getting back to her happy self. I was also informed when the test came back that i would also have to consider another type of food that can help with the allergy which in fact minimized the allergies my dog was having. I'm very satisfied and happy with the results of my dog after being treated at the facility. Thank You Dr Neubaum for your care and excellent service. You and your team are highly Recommended :) A++

We had a situation arise at the local shelter where a dog had been hit by a car. Since our rescue is in MD, we went with their suggestion of an ER vet in the area to diagnose what was wrong with the dog. Two surgeries were recommended to us when xrays showed a broken pelvis. Neither of the vets at this practice wanted to talk and explain the ailment, they seemed impatient and uncaring over the telephone. When I suggested we would pick the dog up in the morning, they highly recommended we not do that. After getting two estimates for two different surgeries at $6300 and $5300 respectively, we moved the dog to an ER and orthopedic surgeon in MD that we are familiar with. Neither of the two surgeries suggested at this practice were done for the dog in MD. He had surgery and was neutered at the ER/orthopedic facility for $2900. I think that says a lot. We were updated on his progress and he was well taken care of at the MD facility. After this experience, I would never willingly send an animal to this facility. They were cold and uncaring on the telephone. They also made sure they doubled our bill overnight since he was leaving to go elsewhere for his surgery.

This morning we found an injured kitten in our yard, I called the Emergency Center and was told to come in immediately, I can't say enough good things about our treatment and their concern for the patient. We were told the injuries were very serious and our kitten couldn't be saved. The kitten was euthanized and didn't have to suffer any more.

THANK YOU! My dog decided to eat my leather boot while we were out of the house and ended up getting it stuck in her tummy. We were referred here by our family vet and I could not be more satisfied with them! They were extremely kind and patient with us and Pepper (our pup). They were very nice when I called periodically to check in during her surgery and recovery and they were extremely thorough when explaining her medication information at discharge. We could not be happier! Thank you again! <3

It has taken me a good week to write this review because I really wasn't sure what to say. In my absolute despiration around 1030pm last Monday I called this hospital to see if they could help my beloved pet Rat. The nice girl that answered said they didn't specialize in exotic animals but they Doctor knew enough that they could at least stabilize my animal until the morning. I brought him in and he was lathargic and having breathing issues. The nice girl took him to the doctor and I never saw my baby alive again. During his time with the doctor I was asked if I wanted them to perform CPR if necessary, to which I said no. After about 10mins, dr. Monroe came in the room with a pen and NAPKIN and asked us what our Rat was experiencing. I got about 5 words in when a nurse pulled the doctor out. About 2 mins later he returned saying "sorry about that, it was about your little buddy he just passed". Short and abrupt. No bedside manner at all. Said it in a tone the you would use when saying "these walls are white." I was so heartbroken. I walked outside to try and gather myself and my husband came out shortly after with a box that had my friend in it. He made a comment that they probably just smothered our Rat. I went back in to talk to the doctor and find out what happened. I was put in something called the "quiet room" where I was left to pace until I couldn't pace any longer. Then, the dr appeared. He put a metal bed down off the wall in between us as if to protect himself, which is just so guilty to me. He fakely said he was sorry for my loss. I asked him what happened and he said that he put my pet on a hot plate and on oxygen and all of a sudden he stopped breathing.... I'll never know what happened to my poor rattie. My husband and I are so heartbroken. I'm praying that he was telling the truth and that they didnt just smother him so he wouldnt have to wait on us. I would just die :( Dr. Monroe has no bedside manner, and the constant replay of him blunty saying that my pet passed so nonchalantly will forever haunt me. Please please please seek other assistance before going here. I feel like I sealed my babies fate and if I had just stayed with him at home with a humidifier he would still be alive. RIP little man

AWFUL!! Drove 35mins to bring my pregnant cat in who was having difficulty giving birth. Lady at the front desk was very rude. Doctor thought we were crazy. They said they did an xray and an ultrasound. Doctor monroe smirked and said everything is fine and Amber said about 4 more were coming. Amber was the worst of them all thinking we were over exaggerating. I know my cat! I have never been treated so poorly by someone who works with animals. Got home and and guess what? 4 dead kittens were born. I called this morning and Amber answered the phone and hung up on me, I called back, she picked up the phone and slammed it down and then she answered a 3rd time and told me their was no manger or supervisor to speak with. Please don't take your animals there!!!!! Please!!!!

I found Animal Emergency and Referral Center of York after my mini Dachshund's spay. Days after her procedure, she was continuing to have pain and trouble with eliminating and was barely eating. At subsequent visits to our regular vet, she was assessed and provided with additional pain medication, which only helped for a bit. At 11:30 on a Saturday night, she began vomiting blood. We aren't from the area, so I needed to quickly Google and find a provider to care for my puppy and found this place. I called, in a panic, and the lady who answered was kind and explained where they were located. Upon arrival, the same lady from the phone greeted me and told me not to worry because Dr. Neubaum was on shift. She wasn't kidding. Dr. Neubaum treated my puppy like I treat her; she cuddled her while she triaged her, was thorough but didn't put her through unnecessary tests to rack up a bill, asked for very detailed information about the medications she was taking and determined, after everything, that she had an intolerance to her pain medications that was causing her continued pain and stomach ulcerations. She prescribed several medications and a mild diet, which she wrote out in detail, and gave me her personal cell phone number in case I had any questions or issues. She even reached out to me a few days later to check on my little dog. The only negative comment I have is that Dr. Neubaum doesn't see a regular case load; I'd switch over in a second. Thank you, Dr. Angela Neubaum, for taking such great care of my little love.

My parents kept my Bichon Frise Riley that I had since I was a young child. He was 14 yrs old. He got very sick in the last 2 weeks. He was vomiting during that time. They had him @ the vet in Nov. last year @ LHAH & they thought he had a disease bc he was losing the hair on his tail & he got a clean bill of health after all blood work etc. came back. My mom took Riley to this clinic last sun bc our vet was closed. He wasn't feeling well & was very weak. She was there 5 hrs & they had to do emergency surgery & they ran some labs. They had to remove his spleen it had a tumor on it & spots on his liver. He was bleeding internally & they had to give him blood transfusions before surgery. I was also told he was very anemic. She told me he might not make it & to pray. She said the drs are great she trusts them more than the newer younger vets they hired @ LHAH. She said the dr has yrs of experience & she's confident in the vet. Later l called her she said he made it through surgery he's fine & will be home tues. I was so excited then mon night she called me saying he's gone & they found out he had liver cancer & she cried. My parents decided to put him to sleep on mon bc he was still real weak after surgery & wasn't doing well. The dr didn't recommend another transfusion bc the outlook would still prob. be the same but did tell her they could try it if they wanted to. Riley is now getting cremated privately sometime this week. I never got to say goodbye to him & I didn't think he was allowed visitors until they released him & I should have asked & seen him sooner. Today tues I called the staff & explaining that he was my dog growing up that mom told me what happend & how I didn't get to say goodbye & if he was still there. The staff was so nice & understanding they told me that he was still there & I could say goodbye but they said we don't want to upset you any further but just so your aware that he was in a freezer & frozen. As soon as I heard that I started bawling. I know they weren't trying to upset me but wanted me to be prepared so I wasn't shocked etc. in case I changed my mind & didn't want to see him that way. When I got there they took me back to a private room & the nurse wheeled him in. He was laying on a gurney w/ warm blankets under him & they protected his dignity with a towel over his area that they did his surgery. They pulled the towel down so I could see him but still partially kept him covered. They told me if I needed them to push the button on the table & gave me privacy. I also got to talk to the dr & the nurse about the cancer, surgery etc. their exp w/ their own beloved pets & other pets they treated. they let me pet him & give him a few kisses goodbye. I was there for almost an hr. They never once made me feel like a burden or mean or annoyed w/ me & I thanked them for all they tried to do for him. Their was only 1 couple in waiting area @ this time. I don't know how busy they were but it was nice that the nurse & dr took time out of their sch to talk to me. The nurse talked to me on & off for about 15 to 20 min & came in & out of the room. The dr for about 7 to 10 min before he was called away. They never rushed me during my time their or made me feel like my baby wasn't important or special or that I didn't matter. Bc I was crying they were also considerate enough to let me slip out the back door of the private room so I didn't have to walk through the front lobby w/ those that were in the waiting room. Riley will always hold a special place in my heart & I thank all who helped try to save him. Thank you again for being there for my family most importantly my Riley.

My little Yorkie more or less broke his knee and needed surgery, my normal Vet sent me here to see the orthopedic surgeon. X-rays were done, the Doctor came in to chat with me about what was needed. She was very polite and professional, I was given a price for the operation and everything needed through post-op care. Next day was the operation, when I dropped my dog off everything was gone over again. As promised, I was given a call when he went into surgery and a call from the Doctor when he was done. I called in a few times over the next 24 hours to check on him and each time talked with someone that knew exactly how he was doing. His care was outstanding! The level of treatment was as good as what I received in a people hospital in the past, maybe even better. Should you need to go here please remember it is an ER for animals, they must constantly prioritize the needs at any given moment. Yes I had to wait for a few minutes but only because another dog was in danger of losing it’s life, so a wait worthwhile. When I got home with my dog, I had a post-op question so I called and was given a polite informative answer! Every single person I encountered provided top shelf service!

I was very impressed with my first visit and I would highly recommend this facility to anyone whose animal is in need.

Nicole Stenpeck

We had such a poor experience with our sick dog, showing signs of distress and fever, that we don't trust that the personnel at this facility have the animals in their best interest. Our Roxy girl was brought in with a fever and moaning noises when she breathed (none that is normal). She was not taken back immediately like another emergency vet we also went to. She was not given oxygen when clearly she had trouble breathing that another emergency vet noticed the instant they saw her. AERC had the worse time management process displayed I have ever seen for what you would consider an EMERGENCY center. The process to get us to put money down upfront, even before the care of our dog in dire need of care was a disgrace. I understand the need to make a payment upfront, but the other emergency vet we visited after this horrible place took her back immediately to check her vitals, to put her on oxygen. You may be an okay facility for a broken bone, or when a pet eats a foreign object, but you are NOT a place we will ever go to if our pets have trouble breathing. Please change your processes AERC for the animals that do need immediate care, because "when the seconds count, you were not there for our pet."

You fix our cat in a timely matter. He was done fast. And both of the receptionist were great and helpful.

Absolute wonderful staff. My cat was spayed at another vet , brought her home she was bleeding a little and all her stitches were out. Brought her in here told them how much money i had which was no where near enough but they got all their staff together discussed it and did her procedure with what we had.

I was not going to write this review because we are pursuing other avenues; however, I cannot bear another animal suffering the way mine did and seeing good reviews for this place. They killed my beautiful 10 year old boxer. Their care was horrendous - they didn't give her needed medication until too late because, after paying them $5200 upfront, the plasma she needed would have cost $525 more and they hadn't gotten our approval. Then when she was in a coma and dying 24 hours after operation, the surgeon told us on the phone she had a 50/50 chance of surviving another op to see what she had screwed up, but we had to agree to pay an additional $2,500 for her to come in and do it because she was "out with family and friends". We rushed up in time to see her take her last breath - The surgeon never did show up. Please google her name - Tara Rabuffo to see her history. ' '

We had a wonderful experience at Animal Emergency & Referral Center of York. Our cat needed to be euthanized because she was 17 and in a lot of pain. You could tell she had given up and was ready to be at rest. We first went to Yorkshire Animal Hospital and they did not treat our cat with the compassion and love she deserved, so we began looking elsewhere. When Animal Emergency & Referral Center popped up on google, we decided to take her there. It was an amazing experience. They treated not only us, but our cat with compassion. They were very gentle with her, and made sure she was very comfortable when she went to rest. Dr. Weisberg did a quick examination so we knew we were doing the right thing, and then spoke to her and stroked her head until she was at rest. We feel as though they provided the care that our beloved Patches deserved. Even the front desk staff was very kind. You can really tell they care about your animal and will treat them like the family member they are.

Just to say ahead of time we were never seen here as we had an immediate emergency last night around midnight and when we called they said they didn't have any appointments til 2am. I said it was an emergency and was told they had no appointments. Wow, what part of emergency didn't they understand.

Douglas Enders

took pit puppy there for swollen face. they said she was bit or stung by something, the keep taking her out of the room to give a seriod and benydryl shot. tech came in and said we were ready to leave, didnt look in her mouth, said something abd they took her in back room again and said she looked good. when we got home we got her mouth open and seen her gums swollen bad and tooth greyish black. so we paid 180 for nothing. took to regular vet next day and was nothing they said it was. front desk people were great but would drive to Harrisburg or another pet er if we needto take one of our pets there. we were refunded money afer we called and complained

About 2 months ago we needed an emergency vet for my cat. I knew my cat was going to need to be put down. And since we're new to PA we ended up taking him there because of the late hour. The staff was rude. The tech practically jerked my cat out of my arms without telling me what she was doing. (This was an older lady) I made her stop to tell me where/what she was doing. As expected my cat needed to be euthanize. The vet came in and showed very little compassion. I said my goodbyes and my husband stayed in with our boy. The only nice thing they did was give us (I'm sure it wasn't free) paw prints of our cat. It's a shame the staff has little sympathy for their patients. They should think about changing jobs.

Took my pet chicken there last night, when I called they said they are not "Certified" in avian veterinary but they could help her. We rushed there the whole time thinking she would die any second. Her comb was purplish blue on the end. That mornign she had laid a soft shelled egg which broke on the way out.Once we arrived they didn't really rush to see her and I don't like the fact that they took her back and you have no idea what they are doing if they are even doing anything. They just put her in a cage while the vet did research online, nothing was done to try to stablize her, she was obviously not getting oxygen. The vet said her comb looked normal to her. The vet seemed as though this was the first chicken she's ever seen in her life. They wanted to do x-rays which would cost over $300. I figured given what I had seen that morning, the soft egg breaking, her purple/blue comb, that they would be able to take an educated guess, give her antibiotics and rehydrate her. We declined the x-rays because they were so costly. And, the vet suspected either a stuck egg (which wouldn't make sense, there was part of the soft outer part that I cleand up in the morning) parasites, or egg yolk paratenitis which the last two would not show up on x-rays anyway. They said that they don't have antibiotics for her, they rehydrated her and said she stood up, said to take her home and she might reabsorb the egg and be ok. They then handed her back to me and she was no different then when we brought her in, couldn't stand, lethargic. Cost $135 to prolong her suffering, which I did NOT want to do. She died shortly after bringing her home. If you are not certified to care for birds how can you charge what a certified vet would charge??? They are all about the money. It's sad. I could have done better myself at home.

This clinic gave us outstanding customer service, excellent medicine and I believe the pricing was also fair. The staff was very efficient, compassionate and explained each step clearly. My cat is on the mend and I appreciate all they did for us!!

2 years ago my cat spent a month at an animal hospital with a UTI. I brought my cat here after I thought I noticed signs of another UTI. They were very helpful and reasonably priced. Everyone was great. Thank you so much!

The killed my sons cat and charged me $1589.32 to do so. It is obvious they are not interested in anything but the almighty dollar. after doing surgery on his cat on 1/21/2015 and called the next day to say he is doing better and to pick him up my son brought him home only to have the same problem he took the cat there for in the first place. 2 hours after my son brought his pet home the cat had to be put to sleep. They killed his cat and took us across. greed. they wouldn't even start treatment on his cat until my credit card cleared hours after my son brought him there in the first place. If you love your pet at all stay far away from that butcher shop.

Lindsay Price

Fantastic professional yet caring atmosphere...felt very comforted there and my ferret was well taken care of up to his last few moments....one of the most gentle and sympathetic vets I've ever been to...will definitely be bringing other ferrets here as well...also very affordable!

We got a call from our vet on Friday late afternoon telling us our 9 year old Black Lab Bella was diagnosed with Diabetes and her level was over 600 and she was showing ketones in her urine. She highly recommended we admit her to the hospital to try and get her stabilized. When we arrived the staff had already recieved all of the paperwork from our vet and was ready to get our girl started..Dr.Potter was very sweet and explained that we could probably monitor her at home but she recommended Bella stay for 48 hours..The vet tech came in and gave us the estimate and I just about fell out of my chair..We choose do it because Bella is a family member and getting her healthy was the only thing that mattered..I have to say these people are absolutely amazing .Not once did they rush us and not answer my questions. Sure we had to wait a little for the phone call .but once someone got on the phone they never rushed us off the call..Dr.Brinkman is a wonderful caring vet and I know she truly loves her job..She went above and beyond to help our girl..The vet techs are outstanding ..Every single person never once made us uncomfortable..This is a 1st rate hospital and because of their devotion to helping animals I believe my Bella girl will live many more years..I appreciate your honesty and caring attitude towards the pet owners .Thank you all !!! Love The Lessner's

My boxer had knee surgery there, they stressed the importance of the laser treatments post surgery so I bought the laser treatments. The vet tells us we can schedule an appointment for laser treatments, every time I call in they tell me I cant schedule that. So all the laser treatments I end up waiting there for two hours before they take me back, when a couple of the times I walk into an empty waiting room and stays empty for most of those two hours. I should have gotten this done at my vet's. I only know that it's a ten minute procedure bc I complained to the vet at one of her checkups and then that following laser treatment I showed up at 4pm and was ready to leave by 4:08! So something that takes less than ten minutes they have you waiting for two+ hours!

If you value your furkid's life, please don't take them to AERC of York, PA. I took sweet Alma there last Sunday 1/6/2013 for an obstruction. they did surgery and removed what they told me was a bone fragment. Upon my dissection of it, i found no bone, but a mass of grass, plastic and a sliver of a stick. Her intestines had been perforated and she needed a resection. They sent her home on 1/8/2013 while she was barely eating and had not had a bowel movement yet. After she appeared to have difficulty trying to defecate and again showed no interest in eating, I had her back in on Wednesday 1/9/2013 but Xrays were inconclusive so they sent them out for analysis. I never got a call back that night. While in the office, they told me it would be another 5 -10 grande to open her back up to determine what was happening inside of her. After maxing out my Care Credit for her first surgery, I had no money left to do much more. they sent me home with her to monitor her through the night. Around 4 AM on 1/10/2013, Alma vomited up everything I'd fed her the previous morning plus a large mass of hair, grass and plastic. i called AERC and told them what happened and asked if they had checked her stomahc during her surgery on 1/6. The E-vet had never checked her stomach. She still had a blockage!!!!!! I ended up taking her to her regular vet on 1/10/2013 and she was admitted and more xrays and tests were done to determine what was going on. On friday 1/11/2013, after Alma neither improved nor worsened, her vet and i decided that we had no choice but to open her up again to determine what was happening inside of her. about 45 minutes after i got home, i received a call. It was bad. as the vet explained the situation, she began to cry. 2 liters of fluid was drained out of her abdomen, her resection had failed and the rest of her intestinal tract was not looking healthy. I had to give the authorization to set my poor girl free while she was on the operating table.Over 5 grande total spent just at the E-vet for her care and she passed on 1/11/2013 while in surgery at her regular vet's practice when I refused to take her back to AERC after discovering they had not checked her stomach while she was in surgery on 1/6/2013. Please don't take your animals there if you value their lives. Find a vet who will be open or keep emergency hours. R.I.P. sweet Alma, you are loved and missed so much. I'm so sorry that i took you to AERC sweetie. you didn't deserve the negligence you got in their care. i'm so sorry sweetie.

We took our cat, Andy there last night, thinking he had a blockage since he has had them before. Turns out he was going into heart failure. They gave us two options, medication, or putting him down. Unfortunately we cannot afford medication. We also didn't think it was fair for him to live like that the rest of his life (especially since he could go anytime even with medication). So we chose the other option. It was hard, but I know it was for the best. I wanted to say thank you to the staff here. They were so caring and kept us calm. Especially Dr. Longbottom. She was amazing, she showed us his x rays and talked us through everything. I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you again!

Angie Rose

Had to take our Pomeranian puppy here after he got mold poisoning. That staff took quick action and saved my puppy’s life. They stabilized him before getting a payment and gave me an estimate. The next day when I was able to pick him up they actually issued me a refund!!! We called many times throughout the night and each time we were given an update and treated with the most kindness! No one ever seemed annoyed by our frequent calls. In the event of an emergency these are the people you want working on your furry family member.

Waited 3 hrs in the waiting room on a Friday evening with a dog that had a gaping groin wound from a bite from another dog. They do not triage well. It wasn’t bleeding so I guess they figured she could wait. Only one vet was on that evening. You’d think if they were that busy they would have more than one vet on. I rated a 3 because once we were seen care was efficient and good.

Melissa Ross

The staff was absolutely wonderful when I brought my sick lab/boxer in. They explained everything and answered all our questions.

Hannah Schultz

Just sat and waited TWO HOURS in a room and did not even see a vet. I called them beforehand and they said NO WAIT. I knocked on the door multiple times and was ignored until finally banging on it and letting them know that I was leaving and not paying anything to them. All the did was get my dogs weight and temperature. Not to mention - the receptionists were NO WHERE to be found when I checked every 2 minutes to see if I could get someone’s attentions. When I told them I was not waiting any longer and that I was going to have to go somewhere else all they had to say was “I’m sorry” and closed the door. I do not recommend this place AT ALL.

Not only did they save my 11 year old GSPs life when he needed emergency surgery for a flipped stomach, they also took tremendous care of my 10 month old GSP when we took him in for what turned out to be shards of something in his stomach. Very up front with the prices and very compassionate towards my family and my dogs. Highly recommend to anyone in need of emergency services for their fur babies

I will never go to this facility again. Our 20 year old cat was in bleeding and in distress. We called ahead of time and said we were coming in needing euthanasia. When we walked in, carrying a crying cat, no one even came to the front area, for several minutes. When they did, they showed zero compassion. Then told us it would be awhile because they had no rooms, even though we could see an empty room. We ended up leaving and driving to another vet.

Michelle Altland

My 10 yr old GSP had her stomach flip and seriously sick! My vet highly recommended Animal Emergency and now I understand why! They were very prompt, compassionate, and thorough! My baby girl was prepped for surgery before I even left, but not before I was allowed to give her some love! This meant the world to me! They told me I could call anytime to get updates and they were true to their word! I highly recommend their services for emergency care that just can't wait... if I waited my baby girl may not be with me today! Thank you Animal Emergency! <3

Kati Walp

Absolutely awful! Took our 7 month old chocolate lab puppy in because he was in a lot of pain and had lumps all over his body. After 2.5hrs of being there and being spoken to for 10 minutes we were told he had growing pains. 4 days later we found out our baby had cancer, and he passed the next day. Thanks for absolutely nothing! How do you diagnose a dog with growing pains when all you did was shove a thermometer in his butt and send him back into the waiting room crying in pain?

Jean Sanders

York pet emergency on South Queen Street killed my beauruful Siamese cat. I went there, they ran tests and told me her kidneys were failing. They gave me an estimate to try and pull her out if kidney failure. I didn't have $1100.00 on me so they told me I could apply for Care Credit. I told them my accounts were frozen after the Equifax breach but I had $500.00 with me to put towards it til I get home, unfreeze my accounts and applying. U have very good credit and it won't be a problem. NOPE. THAT ISN'T THEIR POLICY. So what did they do? Sent me home to watch her get worse, instead of helping her. It's all about the money. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR BELOVED FAMILY MEMBER. If you go there, expect to be grossly overcharged, and if you need further medical treatment for your animal, forget it if you don't have the money in your pocket. STAY AWAY.

Friendly staff

Nurse was nice. Dr. Newman, not so nice. Barely looked at our cat, or touched cat and said "stroke, bloodclots, and cancer: suggest euthanasia now." Heading to our regular vet.

Sam Bixler

Was the worst place I've been to. Try explaining what happened to my dog, and the doctor ignored what I said several times. Never taking my dog there again if he lives now.... since I had to leave.

Bobbi Jo Brown

The Dr. basically gave up on my dog so I transferred her to another animal hospital. Within a day, she improved and I am happy to report she is home and doing great! The Dr. was very rude and had no compassion at all for my very sick dog. I would never take another animal here!!

Morgan Tice

My dog had a grooming accident about a year ago (clippers got caught on a knot where the front of the back leg meets the stomach), they were quick to take a look at him and he was out of surgery and ready to go home in just about 5 hours. Everyone was friendly and understanding. One of the scariest things I've experienced but, they were assuring that everything was going to be okay. We were very lucky that we have accident insurance on him, so the bill wasn't as much of an issue. Any place you go for emergency services is going to be expensive so, it's definitely important to know the atmosphere of where you go.

Kelsey M

Worst experience ever. We took our cat Sunday afternoon around 12pm with a moderate tail injury and didn't leave until 5:30-6. Waited almost 3 hours just to go into the waiting room to wait ANOTHER hour to actually be talked to. The doctor was in-personable, inattentive, rude, and had no compassion for my cat or us AT ALL! The Techs, however, were the best part of our experience (besides finally leaving). The doctor wanted to do was have me sign off on $1,000 worth of treatments and surgery and an overnight stay, that would cost hundreds, and were completely unnecessary (including amputation). HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Once the x-rays were done we told them we wanted my cat discharged to which it took ANOTHER hour for them to give us our paperwork and cat back. We still ended up spending hundreds of dollars but not nearly what they quoted us or wanted us to do. Left fuming and nervous for my cat that was in severe pain. We were prescribed pain meds and were happy to take our cat home. Took my cat to our primary vet Monday morning they cleaned up the wounds and stitched him up only took a few hours and we took him home today! Spend half of what I was quoted and he keeps his tail. NEVER GOING BACK. NEVER RECOMMENDING. 0/5

Most incompetent staff I've ever experienced. Took my cat in at 12:00 am for constipation /uti, sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes without a word of what was happening then was put into another room for 30 before the 'vet' came in said what she did, all without my consent and when I said I couldn't afford to keep him over night her response was "well if he doesn't urinate in the next five hours you'll have to bring him back so we can put him down him" never in my entire life have I experienced such cold hearted, money hungry people. How can they even call themselves vets when the welfare of the animals doesn't come first? I can go on with how my experience was but I'll stop there, never again will I take my animals here not when they're trying to kill them.

Was it told up front price of visit. Than came in with a bill of what everything would be. Definitely didn’t push me to get anything I didn’t need. Got what was given and discussed.

If I could rate this as negative stars, I would. My 6 week old puppy was having a reaction to her flea medication because we gave her too much. She had a lack of coordination, excessive drooling, sweating in the thigh, back, and paws, depression, vomiting, and wouldn’t drink water. She also had started trembling and crying for moments at a time. We took her to the vet and they cost us 85 dollars just for a temperature check, has TERRIBLE time service, and proceeded to tell us that if we don’t apply for their credit survey that they’ll keep my dog. + the staff isn’t considerate.

Last night we had to make the unfortunate decision to have our 15 year old four-legged family member, Samantha, put to sleep. From the moment we came through the door until the moment we left, every member of the staff was professional yet compassionate. They explained every step of what would take place, what our after death options were, and MOST importantly gave us as much time with Samantha before and after she left us. She, along with our family were treated with absolute dignity. Without reservation I would recommend Emergency Vet Clinic to anyone. They made a heartbreaking loss sting just a tiny bit less. Thank you for helping us say goodbye to our Samantha. Our family truly appreciates it.

Only the 2nd time I've been here, but great experience - very quick, thourough, efficient. Staff are all smiley, helpful, & kind. I hate emergencies (especially with my dogs!) but you're great!

Nicole Drayton

Great experience and helpful. They were open durring the show storm when our dog was having issues.

Thankfully, it wasn't very busy. Took us right back. After they checked my dog in the back, the vet came in and was Great! He gave me a few options, and was very upfront with prices. The only down side was how long it took to get my dog his shots. Price was a little high, which was expected, but not crazy.

When most veterinarian clinics are closed, this place stays open for 24 hours which helps if you have an emergency. I appreciated that the veterinarian listened to what I had to say and made my pets life a priority over money.

David von kroge

Very caring staff, upfront pricing.

Staff was awesome and extremely accommodating. Kept my dog alive and comfortable for hours so that I could get home from a late night business flight. They were also very honest with what the cost of the surgery would be and the very little likelihood of survival, instead of just taking our money and setting unrealistic expectations.

Took great care of our dog in an emergency situation!

I have given myself a few days before writing this review in hopes that I would be able to let this fiasco go. But unfortunately, this one has gotten the best of me. The staff was VERY nice. That is where my one star comes in. As for the care, I am not happy with it at all. Upon arrival we explained what had happened that lead up to the moments of my dog getting a hold of corn cobs. I told the staff that my husband and I came home and fed our guy per our normal routine. We then left the house for 10 mins to pick up our dinner and came back to find that he had gotten into the trash and had eaten multiple corn cobs that we had luckily cut into quarters. Upon finding this, we rushed to THIS ER. I then went on to tell them that it had only been about 20 mins that he had ingested the cobs and 30 mins since he had eaten dinner. We then expressed our concerns that we really could not afford $200 plus in a vet bill due to Xrays so, we were trying to avoid taking them if possible. In our minds, inducing vomiting was the best choice since everything was still in his stomach, The Dr had concerns with inducing vomiting like we wanted because if the pieces he ingested were too large, they could have gotten stuck in his throat and could cause him to choke with everything else coming up. She mentioned that the safer of the two evils would be to x-ray to see what is going on internally. We realized that this was a valid point and decided to go with her advice on Xrays despite our concerns financially. After they had completed Xrays, they brought us back to review the film, we were told that he had too much food from dinner to tell what was going on and that we just had to wait it out!!! Our boy was not given any relief and we were charged for the answer of " we don't know". We were beyond angry at this. We kept (AND STILL ARE) kicking ourselves for not thinking about the fact that his dinner would cause things to not be seen. HOWEVER, it was the Dr's job to think about that since she was the one with all the schooling and we had mentioned he had dinner. It was also her responsibility to think of this since she asked how long had passed between him eating dinner and him getting into the trash and how long it has been total since this all happened. It was her job as the Dr to think clearly while the involving party is stressed. She was the expert, not us. It was her job to shed light on us like she shed light on the fact inducing vomiting was not a safe road to go down. We are so angry that we paid to have xrays done to not be able to see anything and just be told to wait. I personally would recommend going elsewhere because it does not seem like this place likes to listen and cannot seen to effectively carry out a good plan. We have not gotten any compensation for the money that we spent on a service that got us no where. Good luck to you and hopefully this rating helps you decide where to take your baby.

We took our pregnant dog in last night after she had contractions all day with no pups. They were very quick about getting us into a room, but slow to help, seeing as she was in active labor. And every employee we came into contact with was so unbelievably rude and judgemental. And after suggesting a surgery at the whooping price of $2,500, we were informed that it would need to be paid up front or they couldn't help us. No payment plan, no sympathy. They were going to let our dog die if we didn't have a disposable $2.500 laying in our pockets. So clearly life is not valued by them, nor manners. Will never go back there again.

Dr. Goodwin was amazing. My Tiki is very skittish and the staff allowed me to stay with her for the entire exam! He explained everything and offered suggestions to improve her diet. We will see him again in a year. He even answered my questions promptly by email. Vet satisfied with the entire visit.

Great experience. Very caring and personable staff.

Thank you so much for the excellent care you provided to our dog, Aruba. Words could never truly express our appreciation and gratitude.

We needed our dog checked out for a limp and came here in March 11th. A great choice - friendly and prompt. The vet and tech were very communitive, explaining what the situation was with the dog. Great advise and she is doing much better. Also without asking said that they will communicate with our vet so that the dog's condition will be passed on. Once again thanks for the help!
