My dog came down with a life threatening condition weeks after my long time vet moved away, thankfully we found Dr Andrew and his staff. They quickly discovered the problem and started treatment. When we were able to take our boy home we had frequent phone calls from the clinic checking in. On follow up appointments we were always made to feel like our boy is a staff favorite ( truth be told he is a terrible patient). I trust them 100% and am grateful to have them keeping my dog healthy and happy. I am giving them 5 stars because 6 stars is not an option

First of all, there is a friendly 'clinic cat' that greets you as you walk in. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and were able to answer all of my questions. We saw Dr. Andrew, who is very knowledgeable in his field. I felt that he was giving us safe and sound advice. He listened to my preferences and the way I choose to raise my pup and he gave his opinions in a kind and respectful way. I feel like I can trust him and I know he took my questions seriously. I would recommend this clinic to all pet owners in the area. Even for just a consultation.

I wish I could give Dr. Andrew & his team 10 stars. They always take excellent care of our Golden Retriever, Ben, when he visits the clinic. The staff is professional, friendly and very courteous. Easily the best vet we've used - ever. They also have a variety of "solutions" that have helped Ben through the aging process including laser therapy and adequan treatments. Town & Country is the first vet that Ben has had where he genuinely loves going to since the staff is kind to him. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

My cat Oliver just had a mass removal surgery done with Town and Country Animal Hospital. They did an amazing job and he is healing up nicely. Everything was explained to me through out the process and they kept me updated on his condition through out the day. I received a follow up phone call the next day to make sure Oliver was recovering well. They also are very affordable. I had to put off this procedure for years due to how expensive it was with other clinics. Town and Country gave me an estimate that was over $200 less than the other clinic I used to go to in Vancouver. They even wound up charging me a little less than the lowest cost estimate I was given. I would recommend this place to anyone in the East Portland area looking for a veterinarian.

My family has been My family has been bringing our family pets and feral cats that show up to Town and Country Animal Hospital for over 30 years. They have always been kind and reliable. I appreciate not being given a guilt trip or huge up sale on unnecessary or extreme treatments that most likely won't work or I simply can’t afford. Though I have moved out of the neighborhood I continue to go to them. Bringing our pets to see Dr. Andrew feels like it did as a kid going to see the pediatrician that knew you from birth.

My older best friend Blue had been diagnosed a few years before with a problem that I was told would end in his demise. The entire staff was so friendly, kind, and compassionate. Being new to Portland, it was as important for me to find a good vet as a primary care physician. I feel that I was so lucky to find Town & Country. Traveling by bus, me and my little guy were going to be late. I called to let them know and they were so accommodating. We arrived to a friendly receptionist staff that gave us a goody bag of treats. Only waited for 5 minutes and was seen by the doctor within 10. She was extremely knowledgeable and didn’t put any pressure on getting other procedures done. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves their animals. We have found our new home.

We are so happy we found Town and Country Animal Hospital when we moved to Portland. After going to another vet in Portland and having a so-so experience, we were really missing the friendly, honest and experienced veterinary practice we had gone to before moving here. Town and Country was recommended to us and we have been so happy to take our two dogs here! The front desk staff is warm and welcoming and never to busy to help. All the vets/ techs we have seen have exceeded our expectations- they are experienced and warm and I have never felt like I am being pressured into a unnecessary or more expensive procedure/ exam. When my normally friendly and easygoing cat, Louie, did a 180 on his personality and freaked over being poked and prodded, Dr Andrew remained calm and understanding, never once blaming Louie or me for the reaction. I have heard many vets and vet techs get angry and frustrated, but that response is simply not in the nature of Dr Andrew. Dr Andrew takes time to thoroughly examine my cats and carefully review any and all concerns or issues and the treatment options. He clearly loves his work. I have never been to an animal hospital were everyone from the receptionist to the Vet showed so much compassion to their patients and owners. I had a little kitty who was deathly ill and Dr. Andrew did everything he could without charging a arm and leg. Any time I called the Doctor would call back. It just wasn't to be. They sent us a sympathy card and donated to an animal charity in my kitty's name. Plus someone found a stray kitty and they contacted us to see if we would be interested in adding to our family. The whole experience and dedication to their profession has been amazing.

I have only been here once for my first visit with my baby Atticus, and we used to take him to a different vet his whole life (he is seven) but that family vet was bought out and we were no longer happy there. At our first visit they greeted us upon entry, and had Atticus name written on a board since he was coming in today. Now, Atticus is very cautious of people he doesn't know and everyone there was very friendly and helpful. The Dr recommended things we could do and advised many treatments. Very happy so far.

The vet that I saw at Town and Country was very thoughtful. She was very nice and wasn't overpowering when I said I preferred a more natural route for my kitty. She helped me figure out the best treatment, and after the blood results came in, she called to discuss them and answered every question I had. We probably spoke for 45 min. She seemed like she was there to help and if she didn't have an answer she helped me find one. I would absolutely recommend Town and Country. They seem like they really care. Great location. My daughter recommended Town and Country to us for our animals. At the time we had been taking them to a larger chain type vet clinic where the care was okay but quite expensive and impersonal. I was pleasantly surprised at our first visit by the friendliness of the staff, the professionalism and courtesy of the vet, and the quite reasonable prices (which were about half what the other vet had been charging us). Since that visit one of our dogs had a major surgery to remove a tumor and the staff did a wonderful job with being responsive to my needs in the days following the surgery and the aftercare needed when complications arose with my dog stopping eating. We also had both of our dogs teeth cleaned and extractions done and the cost was half what the other vet had quoted us for the work. Every time we have had to go in the front desk staff, the vet techs, and the vets are all friendly, courteous, seem to remember our animals. So if you like a personal touch, professionalism, quality care, all at a great price this is the place for you.

We have taken our animals here for years. We have always had excellent care from Dr Andrews! He is very caring and always takes time to answer questions. He is gentle and has a calming presence. My husband recently took our dog in to the other vet in his office and felt her care was also good.

There are other doctors at the clinic and I've had good luck with them too. The doctors take the time to explain your pets health issues and answer any questions thoroughly. I've had 15 cats over the years and the doctors at Town and Country have seen me through various serious illnesses with compassion. I recommend them to everyone I know who lives in the area.

We have been going to T & C for over 20yrs and are very happy with them. Ten years ago we had to put down our black lab/chow mix Gizmo. Dr Grimes came to our house and put him to sleep in a very loving way and allowed Gizmo to be around the comfort of our home. He was petrified to go to the office. I am so happy she is working more again at the clinic. Dr Andrew performed surgery on my daughter's dog for bad leg and did everything possible to make her recovery as smooth as possible. They also had pheromone-treated blankets that we put over our cat's crafe, which really seemed to help her relax while we waited to see the doc. The facility is clean. The staff is really friendly. My dog began to show signs of tooth pain, he wasn't able to eat his food and didn't want to drink water, his face swelled up on one side. They were able to get me in for an appt the next afternoon. Everyone there absolutely loves animals. They could tell my doggo was super anxious and they catered to him by taking every movement real gentle to keep him calm. Long story short, he had to undergo anesthesia and have 9 teeth removed. I was terrified to have him go under, but all the staff were more than happy to answer all my questions. The procedure went great, he was up eating and drinking the same day. I feel the price was on par for such an intensive procedure, and they accept care credit which helps immensely.

I'm picky about choosing veterinarians for my animals. When I moved to SE Portland in 1998, I interviewed my new neighbors to find a vet with a good reputation. My neighbors almost unanimously said, "Go to Dr. Andrew at Town & Country." I've been taking my dogs and cats to see Dr. Michael Andrew for almost 20 years now. When my formally feral cat suddenly began losing her balance, he talked me into a medication that would cross the blood-brain barrier. I was leery, but my cat made a full recovery and lived many more years. Last fall (2016) my 14-year-old cat suffered trauma one night after hours and we made a trip to Dove Lewis in NE Portland to get her patched up. The baby vet at Dove Lewis commented on how frightened my cat was: "Her heart is just racing." The next day while examining my cat, Dr. Andrew, listening to my cat's still-fast heartbeat, said, "I think your kitty may have hyperthyroidism. A fast heart rate is one of the symptoms." Sure enough, a lab test confirmed Dr. Andrew's tentative diagnosis. Baby vet at expensive Dove Lewis totally misread the symptom. In addition to being an excellent and experienced diagnostician, Dr. Andrew has superb people skills. He has never seemed offended when I have asked questions or mentioned the word "Internet." Not so one of the other vets who works there, who was patronizing and brushed me off when I asked questions. I make a point now of insisting on appointments with Dr. Michael Andrew.
