I see a lot of 5 Stars on here- tons actually..and glad those people had a good experience. I cannot said that same for me. I went to this vet for over 9 months when my cat was in a critical state. (she was 14 at the time). I disliked how much I was put on HOLD from office staff. Sometimes waiting 15 mins to talk to receptionist with question. Then the Vet we were seeing began mixing up my two cats info. The place is hospital like, many more dogs than cats; probably twice as many. Patient load is high and Vets seem somewhat rushed in appointments. If you want a fast paced clinic where you are put on HOLD often, risk mixing results up, and Vets that forget information- go here. I am not saying it's all bad. There are reasons there are high stars too. But honestly, this was not was i was looking for. We found a VERY good vet after this in Hawthorne district and a much more attentive atmosphere. And better price as well!!

Great vets and service with care and patience for the owners and their furry friends. Dr. Gowing has been my vet for years and I will continue to have him care for my fur kitty, mr. Oscar.

Neil MacGregor

Best Vet around. Staff is great and always take great care of my dog.

Wilson Lei

If you have a greyhound, go here! They have very knowledged vets and staff who I feel confident will take very good care of my pup.

Douglas Dillingham

They were the only ones successful after several groomers failed to express her anal glands. Words couldn't describe the spring in her step after years of fecal matter compacting one of the glands (I didn't know any better, now I do).

Took my snek here after he had a minor burn, and the veterenarian I saw was incredibly nice! The whole staff was friendly, the bill was affordable, and I am very happy with the experience I had. NW Neighborhood is now my go-to vet for my snakes, that's for sure!

This practice is amazing! Everyone was very friendly and compassionate. I appreciated how much time the doctor took to explain my pet's condition. I really feel the doctor partnered with me to create my pets treatment plan. I won't be taking my pet anywhere else. Thank you do much!

I lived in Portland for 3 years and I am so disappointed my pets were only seen there for the last year of my stay. I've never met a staff that loves what they do like NWNVH does. Terry is amazing at making it seem like your pet is the only pet that exists, Erin takes care of pet travel like the professional she is, Katie always remembers who you and all the animals in your family are, and the technicians you don't see are beyond competent. I could go on about each individual, but you should find out for yourself about them. Since my boyfriend and dog still live in Portland, I make sure that my boyfriend knows our dog will never go to any other vet while living there. Thanks for everything NWNVH - I know my girl is in the best hands.

I've brought my bunny and my beloved cat here and have only had great experiences. Everyone that I've encountered here, the vets, techs, and front desk staff, have all made me feel comfortable and welcome, which is saying a lot because I'm a nervous pet parent. The staff is very competent and I feel confident that my babies are in good hands. It's also worth noting that the prices seem very reasonable to me. I've been surprised in a good way at how little we've gotten out of there for. I'd highly recommend!

Maureen Dugan

I've had consistent and considerate care for my dog here over the last 4 years. Will continue coming back.

Leah Gross

These are wonderful vets and staff. I was so nervous to bring my cat in who can be aggressive and very nervous at the vet and they were so great with him. The vet sat on the floor and talked/calmed him down with treats until she was able to pick him up and move him to the exam table. I was shocked at how well he did. 5/5 and will be returning next year to get my buddy checked out. Thanks for calming down this worried pet owner.

We love taking our dogs to Northwest Neighborhood Vet for check-ups! The staff are all knowledgeable, helpful and kind to the animals. Dr. Prull and Dr. Gowing are wonderful, they are patient doctors who our dogs actually like to see. We always come in with a lot of questions, and they take the time to answer each one thoroughly. When our shepherd mix swallowed a plastic bag which obstructed her intestines and stomach, Dr. Prull took her in for emergency surgery and saved her life. The doctor and staff took us through the recovery process and she was back to her energetic self in no time. We lost her last year, but we know that the care at NW Neighborhood Vet helped us to give her a long, happy life. Our little chihuahua terrier mix is a little more afraid of things, but he actually stops shaking when his familiar vet comes in the room. This vet hospital also has a travel expert, Erin Finucane, who is helping us prepare our little dog for travel plans and airline flights. Couldn't recommend NW Neighborhood Vet more!

I very much enjoy the NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital. It's proximity to my house was initially what drew me to it. Before I researched their services I noticed the wonderful staff walking the neighborhood with some of its less than fortunate overnight or visiting four-legged friends. They were great and I so appreciate the pups getting a good outing. Since actually visiting my experiences have been equally as pleasant. My dog can be weary of some strangers but he knows he's in good hands and is at ease with the staff. I love that all Vets we have seen get on the floor with my 100lb mastiff dane to help put him at ease. I've appreciated all recommendations on treatment and honesty around risk levels, needs and expenses. They have great deals and rebates for long term medications like flea control and heartworm which help save money over time. Especially with a big dog and weight dosages! This is the level of care and cooperation I expect from such a service and I've had pretty standard pet needs. No emergencies, thankfully, so I wouldn't say I've been blown away or they've gone above and beyond but they definitely have my stamp of approval and in the event that my situation presented an opportunity for them to go above and beyond, I wouldn't be surprised if they really wowed me. Try em out!

NW Neighborhood is a very small, local neighborhood vet that knows you and you pets on a first-name basis after a visit or two. They are very skilled and caring at what they do, and it shows in the services they provide. Just about all of my neighbors and their pets use them, which speaks well to their presence here, and I would strongly recommend them to any newcomers.

Matt Y

The best. I'd take my kids here if I could.

Jillianne Bandstra

Knowledgeable vets. Especially about greyhounds. Reasonably-priced.

Aaron Mccarty

My senior dog, who has a number of long term medical concerns, is a new patient here. Our new vet, Dr. Hook, reviewed my dog's big stack of medical records from multiple previous vets and specialty centers before we came in for our first visit. Dr. Hook was immediately ready to triage my dog's various health problems and start working on treatment plans for all of them.

Sal Buzz

good et and nice friendly staff. my dog love them i here.

Charlotte Austin

These guys were fantastic -- my dog was hit by a car, and I was a total wreck when we stumbled into the reception area. But they saw us immediately, treated my dog with love and care, and even offered me tissues and coffee! They've won my loyalty.

Daniel Barbato

Very helpful staff, great vets, lots of parking. Would recommend anyone to take their pets here.

Heather NEWLAND

Dr. Schuler has been our vet and ally in health for our mini labradoodle for years and we can't say enough about his expertise and personalized care for him. We can always trust Dr Schuler to really listen to our concerns, ask the right questions and lay out a healthcare plan that accommodates our personal feelings and approach to how we care for our little guy.

Daniel Bradbury

Our family has been with NW Neighbor Vet for 15 years. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Great service and compassionate care. They are a part of our family.

Ali Kaufman

These guys are awesome! They always make me and my dog feel welcome. I have used their boarding services and get both my cat and dog checked here. Dr. Prull is always very thorough, and I always feel good about bringing my pets in, knowing that they are going to get excellent care. The entire staff really love animals, and I know my dog and cat are in good hands here. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone! Thanks guys!!

Sally Painter

Quality veterinary care. Efficient, thorough and caring.

Dan Rhein

Very caring office. Been going there since 2002.

kylee c

Incredible, from the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and taken care of. My cats never responded well to any vet and they were walking around as if nothing happened. I love that I didn’t feel rushed This place is a jewel, even the vet tech was amazing. I cannot reccomend this place enough!

Sam Medinger

Excellent for smaller and exotic pets. It's clear they care a lot about pets and their families

Drew Vandeberghe

Took my new kittens in here last week and had a great experience! The front office is attentive and very nice. Dr. Shuler is one of the best vets I have been to. He took time to discuss a plan for my pets, making sure I was comfortable with the treatments he suggested. This is top notch veterinary care!

Corey O'Connor

They are the most amazing doctors I've ever met, for humans or pets. I have a cat who gets scared and nervous easily and they made sure she was at ease. They are a kind staff who clearly care about animals. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a pet.

Victoria Lightfoot

My cats and bearded dragons have been patients at NW Neighborhood for 14 years. Dr. Becky Prull has been our doctor since she arrived there several years ago. She is compassionate, loving, thoughtful, and conscientious of budget/costs. We would NEVER want another vet. All of the staff members are equally wonderful. I hope you love this clinic as much as my animals and I do.

Aleah Clark

Our dog Scout has been coming here for a year. They have a wonderful, helpful staff. Scout is always glad to come visit!

Erin Moe

New to Portland and got our bunny, Bindi, spayed here. Prices were very reasonable for the location. They took great care of our fur baby. Took their time in the initial exam to make sure she was healthy and good to go with surgery. Was very happy with how much knowledge they have with rabbits! I’ve been to some vets in the past who sadly have little to no experience with small mammals. Thank you for taking such great care of her! We will definitely be taking her and our other pets here in the future!

This vet DOES NOT work with online pharmacies. My cat is diabetic and needs two syringes everyday. My online pharmacy charges $12 per box. NW Neighborhood Vet charges $25. My pharmacy faxed a form for authorization which would have taken 5 minutes for the vet to sign and send back. Instead, the vet took 2 days to get me a written script which needed to be mailed to the pharmacy before getting filled and sent back to me. 5 minutes turned into a week. At least. So now I know I either need to plan WELL in advance (which isn't really realistic) or find a new vet. I think it's important that people know about this rule before beginning a relationship with any vet. NW Neighborhood Vet, please consider that other vets and especially mobile vets are on the rise. Consumers are demanding a better experience that puts the animals above the bottom line. You have an opportunity to do the right thing.

Megan Clarey

Started at Banfield and switched after my first year with our puppy and was so glad I did. Though more expensive, you are getting the best value. The staff here is amazing. They are knowledgeable, professional, and truly care about your pet as much as you do.

Erin S

Two of my cats have had their annual exams and dental procedures at NW Neighborhood. I have had a great experience with the receptionists, vet techs, and Dr. Prull. I highly recommend NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital.

Stephen Lakatos

Long-time client with three dogs. Absolutely terrific vets - Drs. Prull and Gowing, in particular - but staff unfortunately seem disorganized and make a fair number of mistakes, making it a challenging experience outside of the office visits with the vets themselves.

YoungBuck TTVBtw

Amazing service everyone is very polite and if you have a reptile I recommend coming here

Verena Souw

While this place may be fine for routine examinations, I was extremely displeased with my experience. Having owned dogs and horses for over 25 years, my experience here ranks among the lowest of the 20 odd vets I've worked with in my life. I brought my dog in displaying acute lameness signs which presented in under 10 hours while I was at work . After a cursory examination lasting no more than 20 minutes, no obvious pain was diagnosed and my dog was prescribed pain killers plus a standard blood panel due to concern regarding liver/kidney failure or other systemic distress. A Lyme's test was run upon my request (the vet did not recommend it). I was told the results would be back within 24 hours at which point we'd determine next steps. The next day, I received no call from the vet while at work. When I returned from work, which was after the 'hospital' was closed (they are only open from 7:30 to 6 or 7pm. What kind of hospital is only open during business hours?), my dog had deteriorated to the point where she couldn't get up or walk, and was seriously lethargic. I promptly brought her to Dove Lewis, where the vets couldn't have been more incredible. I was there until 1am, with more than 45 minutes being spent with a vet who in detail discussed what she was seeing, what it could be, and discussed options with me. She fetched the bloodwork at 11:30 p.m. to diagnose my dog, and prescribed anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. Within 24 hours, my dog was 75% better. Within 48 hours, my dog was back to her regular self with minimal energy loss. On Saturday, I called this vet 'hospital' and I was told my vet wouldn't be back in until MONDAY, so I would have to wait until then for test results!!! I'm so incredibly lucky to live close to Dove Lewis and have the resources to visit there. If I didn't, my poor sweet dog would've deteriorated further and further over the weekend, while my '24 hour' results wouldn't be briefed to me until more than 72 hours later. And oh yeah, it's probably Lyme's or another tick-borne illness (the test that I wanted to run - not the vet). I will never take my animals here again.

The most friendly vet clinic in Portland! All the employees -- receptionist, vet techs, veterinarians -- are all very friendly and very helpful. They are gentle with the animals. They provide great information to ensure your pet is healthy. They don't pressure you with unnecessary shots & procedures. They take new clients and generally have a lot of availability regarding appointments. I highly recommend this place, esp if you live in the Portland metro area.

Scenna Shipley

Excellent service and animal care.

Eva M.

Fantastic place! I have recommend Dr. Gowing to my friends/clients and everyone has loved their services. It is nice to support a local place and they do great work and are professional.

Kaylie Stull

Amazing staff and facility. Accessible building and nice parking lot. Building can be a little cold if you have reptiles or other cold blooded friends, but is perfect for dogs who turn into space heaters when at the vet/stressed.

David Dixon

This veterinary hospital is wonderful. It is terrific having such a close and welcoming pet clinic in the area. I highly recommend anyone who lives in the NW to go here. Any of the vets are wonderful and terrific with pets.

We have consistently received prompt, expert treatment and attention at NNVH. And the staff are really nice too!

We've been using NW Neighborhood Vet Hospital since Scott Schuler came back to Portland and took it over. He had been our vet before he moved to Georgia and we're delighted to have him back. He's cared for our two current cats as well as two earlier ones and our old Cocker. Scott brings a remarkable combination of knowledge about the latest research with deep caring and a willingness to work us on things like raw food and acupuncture, with good advise and support. We've also gone to Nick Gowing who is also excellent and a couple of times with other vets there. The staff is excellent and know our cats by name and ask after them. I remember hearing them cheer in the back room when we said Daisy was doing better after surgery.

This was my first visit in. It was on the recommendation of a friend that is lived in town for years. I was met with nothing but kindness and willingness to help. My cat’s health rebounded and is doing wonderfully now. Thank you!

Carrie Banks

We use them for boarding as well as Vet services. They are so caring and attentive to our dogs. When we drop them off, they go RUNNING into the back -- they are THRILLED to be there. Makes leaving them for a few days much easier. Very competent staff. We are thrilled.

Everyone here is so nice. They truly care about your pet and want to see them healthy and well. I love the special little cat seating they have off the the side in the waiting area as other animals can make my cat very nervous. Definitely recommend this place to people that love their pets.

I am so thankful to have come to NW Neighborhood for my dog Lily. The quality of care is excellent, the facilities are welcoming and clean, and the hours are wonderfully convenient. But here's the real reason to go; the staff. Never have I encountered such an incredible group of caring, knowledgeable, kind, patient and professional people. These folks are genuinely enthused to be there, and they are friendly and compassionate to four-legged and two-legged creatures alike. Frankly, I wish they offered human care as well - they knock the pants off any doctor's office I've attended. I am very happy to have found this place and Dr. Prull, and I know we'll be NW Neighborhood clients for many years ahead.

Jake Eff

Very professional very compassionate. Excellent.

The team at NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital is a stellar group of professionals who make you feel that your pet is loved. We moved our dogs from our previous vet of 30 years after we went to Dr. Prull for a second opinion. The whole staff has been wonderful and one of our dogs is not the easiest guy to warm up to new people. We really feel that the staff there steer us in the right direction and partner with us on the care of both of our dogs. Cannot speak highly enough of them.

joan lucas

Our littlest family member was bitten by another dog early on a Saturday morning. Our call to Northwest Neighborhood was met with immediate care for our dog including scheduling of an appointment within hours. The visit with the vet was both professional and assuring. Then the staff followed up by telephone several times the following week to ensure there were no complications with medication or no further problems with the injury. NNVH has been our dog's vet from day 1 and we truly rely on them.

Wonderful wonderful place. I drive from gresham to bring all my pets here. Usually see Dr.Hook whom we love. When we've seen any of the other doctors they have also been great. Can't recommend them enough.

Erin Warren

My two kitties have been cared for by the staff at NW Neighborhood since 2008, when we followed Dr. Shuler there. I can't say enough good things about the clinic and the staff. In short, I completely trust them (and I really!! love my cats, so that's a bold statement). The clinic has an emphasis on longterm and preventative health, and quality of life is always in the discussion when we are considering interventions. We've benefitted from the good relationships the clinic has with local specialists. Communication with their human clients is excellent. When my kitties have procedures done, I get phone calls with updates. Dr. Shuler will review imaging and consult reports with me, he'll share the latest research driving our treatment options, and together we decide what makes sense for that particular cat, and for me too. I feel like I can take optimal care of my cats because I have the support of smart, compassionate, collaborative, and animal loving veterinarians, vet techs, and other clinic staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Rachel Faulkner

Amazing care. Friendly staff. And acupuncture that works!

Diane Mason

My sisters pet rat (Squeekie) has a stoke, so we brought him here. Then he had a seizure while waiting to be seen, and passed, my sister was devastated! These gals did something remarkable; they made her a paw print of his feet, then made a card for her. They also told her it had been paid for!!! And they took care of my sister and made sure she was OK before we left. They stepped up to the plate when it mattered most. I was so impressed with them I'm switching to this vet!!! If u want quality of care for ur pet, come here!!!

Caryn May

Everyone on the staff is kind, knowledgeable and professional. It's always spotlessly clean there. I am lucky to have found this place. Dr. Prull is a gem.

VALERIE MEEHAN

I have seen three different vets here so far. They are hands down the best veterinary hospital I have ever been to and we have a frenchie so we have been to a lot. :) From the front desk to the vet techs, this is a very positive experience. Don’t hesitate to go see them.

Justin Vandeberghe

Dr. Shuler's love for your pet is immediately present with each visit. The time he talks to clearly explain the process and each step makes the visit so much more enjoyable and educational. I can't thank him enough for the wonderful care he provides for my best friend, Sir André.

Bonnie Kessler

Love everyone who works here. Very down to earth staff.. Great place to bring your pets

Thomas Greer

I always take my dog here. They have a very good staff and they do a great job!

Catherine Moss

Great staff, very friendly. They have taken very good care of my cat.

Deb Newman

NW Neighborhood Veterinary is a top notch operation. The staff is very caring and highly skilled. As a team, they put the needs of your animal ahead of their convenience or schedule. How refreshing! The facility is clean and neat as well. And, simply put, Dr Gowing is awesome. I would definitely recommend these people...it's well worth the drive from anywhere in the metro area, or even beyond.

Slabtown Tours

Great Staff.

The vet and the staff were awesome during our visits. I felt that my elderly terrier was well cared for and when she passed they sent a very sweet card. My biggest complaint is the clinic's medication policy. My dog was on several medications which were very expensive at the clinic. In her last year, the medications began to exceed $200 per month. After searching online, I found a $60 arthritis medication was only $7.50 through an online pharmacy (Chewy and 1-800-petmeds). The vet did give me a physical prescription I could send to the online pharmacy, however when the online pharmacy called the clinic to verify the prescription, the clinic refused to verify the written prescription. When I called, I was told the same thing, the clinic does not verify prescriptions. I ultimately switched vet clinics because of this. I really felt gouged with the cost of tests and medications. I understand the cost of testing can add up, especially for an elderly dog, but personally, I cannot justify buying a $60 medication from the clinic that I can get online for $7.50. I felt that the clinic's refusal to verify a prescription they gave me was enough cause to take my pet elsewhere.

Ron Murray

Our doctor (Gowing) is honest and a great technician. Stick with Nick.

Emily Schneider

I have been a client of NW Neighborhood for over 12 years. I constantly refer people I know to them because of their knowledge, care and service. Everyone of the people there treats my dogs like their own, they spend a god deal of time making sure I understand everything and that we are on the same page. I want the best care for my Fur Kids; I have total trust and confidence in Dr. Schuler and the entire team. I highly recommend them.

Jill PaintedLady

All of the Doctors here are fantastic, I trust them with all of my animals and appreciate that they put my pets care, comfort and well being first. Highly recommended!!

Devise PDX

I love this clinic! My dog had a series of unfortunate illnesses back to back, we spent some serious time visiting Dr Shuler. He and his staff made it obvious that they cared for me and my little boy, even calling me to find out how 'I' was handling the stress of a sick baby. this was much needed support, thank you!

Sherry Chin

Dr. Prull is wonderful, kind and professional. The office staff is friendly and organized.

We love it here. They treat us like family every time.

Liza Bell

The staff at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital is extraordinary. From the minute you walk in the door you will feel like you are visiting friends and family. The quality of care your pet will receive is unmatched. My pet never shook from fear nor was anxious for an appointment there. Each visit the staff greeted both my pet and me with great enthusiasm and affection. Time was always taken to listen to any concern or thought I had regarding my pet’s well being, and I felt I was always given quality advice and alternative options to consider. We were seen by our regular veterinarian, Dr Becky Prull, but in her absence always found the same terrific and quality treatment with the next available associate. When the time was necessary to be seen by specialists we were thoughtfully referred on and helped through the maze of decisions to make when caring for an aging pet. At the end of our pet’s life, we were guided so compassionately with making a "most difficult" decision. Dr Prull came to our home after her day had ended and performed the final step, which allowed us to have a very special and memorable final day with our beloved dog. We are deeply grateful to Dr Prull and the wonderful experience we had with everyone at NWNVH and wouldn’t hesitate to enthusiastically recommend them for excellent health care for your pet!

I love the team that works here. I necer leave this place unsatisfied or scared.

This is a wonderful vet with super caring and accommodating staff. I usually see Dr. Hook but on at least three occasions I've had minor emergencies with my Polish Sheepdog and every time they were able to squeeze us in same day with different vets and they've all been lovely and fixed my monster up quickly. I'm sure there are less expensive vets to go to, but I also don't think that they are overpriced. They have always given me several treatment options with varying prices and have never pushed for the expensive route. I truly feel that they advise you as if it were their own pet. And they always call me at least once or twice after our visits to make sure the pup is getting better. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Susan Hedlund

This team is by far the best veterinary group that I have ever worked with. Their attention to detail and care is superb. Dr. Schuller often follows up with personal phone calls if questions arise, or if awaiting test results. The proof is in how thrilled our yellow lab, Jake, is to actually go to the vet. We live in the neighborhood, and it is hard to walk by without him wanting to go in the door. They treat us like we are their only patients. They are superb.

Kim Yorke

This is the best vet I've ever been to. I had the unfortunate experience of putting my dog down earlier this year, but my sweet dog and I were well taken care of at NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital. My dog was comfortable, spoiled and loved on her last day. The vet was empathetic and gentle while answering my questions and she also gave my food-loving dog a whole can of cheese whiz before she put her down. Although I was overwhelmed with emotion that day, I felt very cared for and at peace that my dog (and I) were treated so well. I'll always remember that day full of pain and sadness, but also love and joy for the vet and team. Thank you for taking care of my sweet girl and me. I will be back!

Northwest Neighborhood Vet is one of the most professional and well-managed practices we’ve ever worked with. From their passionate staff to top-notch equipment and facilities, they convey excellence. Northwest’s dedication to veterinary care is unmatched in the area and they wholeheartedly deserve the stellar reputation they’ve developed over the years.

Zak Starrs

The techs and the vets here are amazing, wonderfully compassionate people. I love this place, my dogs love this place and everyone who works here, so much that I had to keep bringing my dogs back here to see Dr. Hook, even though I've moved, because she takes such excellent care of my boys. I'll be bringing them here always.

I was referred to Dr. Prull by two friends. Our experience has been wonderful from the beginning. Customer service, knowledge, communications, and location all exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend NW Neighborhood Vet for your animal's care!

NW Neighborhood Vet was my first experience at a Vet in Oregon since moving from the east coast. My dog Tully has never been a big fan of Veterinary visits - always very anxious. The Veterinarian did such a wonderful job to make Tully feel comfortable. It was by far the best experience I've had at a Vet since adopting Tully 2 years ago. I am so thankful that I chose this establishment.

Karen Merrill

My husband and I have taken 3 different dogs to NWNVH over the last 6 years. Each of the dogs have been very different and nonetheless the staff at the clinic did everything possible to understand their unique personalities and provide the best care possible. Two of the dogs had to be put down and the staff understood that we were losing family members and responded to our needs respectfully with a great deal of sensitivity. We would not take our animals to any other veterinary clinic!

Drake Ferguson

Great place. Friendly staff. Felt well taken care of and included in the process.

Our dog has some skin problems and after doing our research we found that this place had the right doctor who specializes in aging dogs and skin disorders. We were very pleased with Dr. Hook. She has great attention to detail and knows her stuff. We know because we do our research and we don't walk in anywhere blind. Information is a powerful thing. 5 stars for Dr Hook. This place would have gotten one or two stars if it weren't for Dr Hook. This place would have gotten 4 or 5 stars if they had better customer service. i sent them an email asking a detailed question after our last visit - no response. I let that go and still decided to go back there for a second time. After this last visit, I called them on a Friday asking if I can return an unopened item we just purchased less than 24 hours ago. I was told that management was not there and they will call me Monday, no phone call. Two strikes is all it takes for me to conclude what level and quality of customer service a business has. Smiles and pleasantries are great but quality customer service is tested when real service needs to be rendered. Ill go here if I need Dr Hook but we may go back to the Pearl Veterinary Clinic coz they have a better staff. My expectation is simple, if I ask you a question, I expect an answer whether its via email, text, Morse code, voice etc. If you cannot extend me that courtesy then you are what i call "Hollow Service" . I can recommend Dr Hook not so sure about this entire practice.

Dr. Prull and the staff at NW Neighborhood Vet are AMAZING. I've taken my pups to numerous vets, holistic vets, specialists, and dermatologists over the years and I have never experienced the level of care, knowledge, communication, and competence as I have at NW Neighborhood. Every time I call in they are so incredibly helpful and prompt and always remember my dogs. Dr. Prull is also trained in holistic medicine, and she always gives me a variety of treatment options. She calls personally to check on my pups and accommodates to my picky needs and thoughts without judgment. On numerous occasions we've had to see other vets due to emergency situations and every single one of them (and their vet techs/staff) has been outstanding. They are also very transparent about pricing and genuinely care about your pets. We got lucky because they are in the neighborhood (although they have a parking lot - super convenient!) but I will never take my pups anywhere else and I highly recommend them to any pet-parent.

I love this hospital. They have cared for my cat and my dog now, and have been amazing for both of them. They primarily see Dr. Shuler, who is amazing, but my dog has also seen Dr. McCormack, and I have had interactions with the rest of them as well. All of them are wonderful. One of the best parts about the doctors here is that they take the time to really explain what they are seeing with your pet, every possible course of action, and their recommendations. They are always considerate of the cost, emotional and financial, of any action and make sure you are comfortable with the decision you make. Both of my pets have had appointments and surgery here, and in every case, I am well communicated with and feel genuinely cared for by every member of the team. This is a great practice all around.

This is a great vet. They have lots of experience with greyhounds so I take my little girl there who is always excited to see the staff.

We absolutely LOVE this vet!!! We see Dr. Becky Prull and she is an amazing veterinarian! Our cat has severe asthma and she has helped us trouble shoot options for treatment. You can tell she really cares about her clients, human and pet. I highly recommend NW Neighborhood Vet Hospital!

I have boarded my 7 year old papillon at NWNVH twice in the past two months. I had only been there once prior for her first vet check up (I just got her in December). She is normally a high anxiety-ridden dog and only wants to be with her mom. While she is tentative to leave at first she is relaxed and calm when I come to pick her up. She gets more walks in at NWNVH than I am able to offer her working full time! She does really well there and they seem to take extremely good care of her. It's also nice knowing it is at a vets and they only board a few dogs at a time.

Brett Gardner

Nice vibe. Good vets. Pleasant staff.

Darrin Gunkel

Attentive, effective care. Dr Gowing's treatment for our Pug's skin allergies is, so far, the most effective she's had in nine years. That he took a lot of time with her evaluation and was very straightforward with us speaks volumes. The staff's enthusiasm also says a lot about NW Vet Hospital's approach: the focus seems entirely on your pet and what you can do to ensure his or her best health and happiness.

I’ve had the pleasure of bringing my kitty to the amazing team at NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital for a number of years now. Every visit, we are greeted with warmth and kindness across the board! The staff are so caring and gentle with my cat, Delilah, no matter what the visit entails. They treat her with as much care and concern as if she were a part of their family. They are always incredible with her and with me. Costs of procedures are always discussed in detail with me prior to moving forward with anything, and they always have multiple treatment options, depending on what I am able to spend. I STRONGLY recommend them!

I brought my dog to Northwest Neighborhood Vet for annual checkups and the staff was always very polite and gave good service. On my first visit, when Becky looked over my dog, she looked like she genuinely liked her job, you could tell she loves animals and is invested in their well being. My dog was also seen by Nick who I would also recommend. Fun fact: Northwest Neighborhood Vet has a travel specialist, which I never knew I would need, but I made a sudden move from Portland to Guam, and without help from Erin at Northwest, I can honestly say my dog probably wouldn't have cleared customs. Eric walked me through the paperwork, scheduled my dog for the updated boosters and chip she needed, and contacted Guam department of agriculture. She kept me in the loop, and was there through the whole process, like more a friend than a vet. I remain grateful and when I return to the area, will continue services with this vet. So, in both the day to day and in unusual circumstances, Northwest exceeded my expectations in quality and kindness. PLUS they are very close to Wallace Dog Park, on NW24th and Parkrose, so after subjecting my dog to trips to the vet, I would reward her by letting her loose in the dogrun. Bonus!

I have taken my chocolate lab to NW Neighborhood for the past 5 years. Dr. Gowing and the staff are amazing. I can tell when I go in the office how much they care about my pet. On my most recent visit I was very concerned about my lab as he had just ate glass. The staff was very supportive and helpful as I was so worried about him. They got my lab in right away on both visits for this particular issue. Dr. Gowing took plenty of time to show me the x-rays and go over details that I doubt other veterinary offices would have taken the time to do.

Can recommend this clinic without hesitation. Have taken my dog there for 5 years; great care, no complaints, perfect.

I am very pleased with care and compassion Marley and I received!

We have been attending NWNVH for the past four years and both of our dogs never want to leave. The staff provides excellent service. They truly care for your pets needs. After losing our boxer last August, we thought we would not be able to return, but she loved it there so we took our new puppy. We are glad we did. She absolutely loves it there. We even have to run for blocks once she realizes where she is at to get there. She just can't wait to go in, say hi and get a treat. If they are closed she is upset that she couldn't go inside. The entire staff is very passionate about animals and will take care of them while they are there. No need to worry as you have left your loving family member(s) in good hands.

Joe Norvell

They take very good care of our cat and us. They have empathy and that makes all the difference in the world.

I have used a lot of vets in my life, and this place is great! Dr. Prull is wonderful! Attentive, knowledgable (and very honest about procedure prices and necessity), caring.

My family loves this vet!! Since we don't have any children yet, our animals are our babies and we never have to worry when we take them to Northwest. Everyone that works here treats our animals with respect and so much love and they calm my husband and I down every time. Even though we moved a little farther away we will still drive the extra distance because it's 100% worth it.

I have been a client at NW Neighborhood Veterinary for a couple years now. Dr. Purll is probably the most wonderful veterinarian I have ever worked with. She noticed a condition in my dog, Teddy Bear, that other vets had previously overlooked and she went to great extents to ensure that my dog was comfortable during examinations and after. The entire staff at this clinic is, in fact, quite excellent--from the receptionists to the veterinary assistants. The receptionists are very friendly and quite organized, and I have really appreciated their flexibility in scheduling me for last-minute appointments (and accommodating me even when I'm running late!) I remember one time a receptionist even ran to hold the bus for me so I could catch it in time as I was exiting from my session. That kind of service, that goes above and beyond, is typical at NW Veterinary and I would highly recommend their services to anyone wishing to provide the utmost excellence in care for their pet.

Very happy I found this clinic for Rufus. The staff is very friendly, and the vets have been knowledgeable, thorough and answers all my questions. Rufus and I especially like Dr Sarah McCormack. She’s so good with him even when he’s completely freaked out and scared. They have been consistently on time for appointments. The waiting area is really large, so you can keep dogs away from each other if needed. They have a small selection of toys and food to buy on the side. Lots of parking outside.

Absolutely wonderful service and care. It is clear that they love animals, and they take time to listen, get to know your pet, and handle everything professionally, promptly, with kindness and attention. My 2.5 year old cat responds really well to the vet there and seems comforted, even though it's scary for her to take vet trips. I also feel their pricing is reasonable, availability is great, and their facilities are clean and modest, not stuffy or pretentious. Just real people, great vets, and lots of love for your furbaby!

I have been taking my pets here for 4 years, and even though I have since moved out of the neighborhood, I wouldn't take them anywhere else. Dr. Maun and Dr. Hook take amazing care of my dog and cats and I really appreciate their advice and attention!

Robert Adams

My experience has been great! Scheduling is easy, and calls are always returned promptly. The staff is great with animals (a must), even my sometimes skittish rescue dog.

Love NW Neighborhood Vet; was recommended to us by a friend and appreciate their friendliness, the team of vets’ knowledge, and clear communication with shared decision-making around the care of our huskies. We trust our pets to Dr. Shuler and his team.

NW Neighborhood Vet and their Staff are an incredible group. They have supported me through a few pets and when it came to those hard times, they couldn't have done a better job walking us through them. Thank you!!

The staff at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinarian Hospital are so friendly and fun! Our cat needed vaccines as she is temporarily living with family who have other cats and the Veterinarian helped answer all of my questions and advised me on the best, yet affordable options available to me. When they gave the vaccines, our cat didn’t even meow they did so well and she acted like nothing happened. I highly recommend bringing your pets here if you are in the neighborhood.

They've always been good to my cats here, working out the tests and treatments that will be easiest for them, and checking to make sure that I can afford them.

Dr. Hook is the absolute best. She is kind, caring, gentle, listens and actively works to provide the best options given all factors. Can't recommend her and NNVC enough!

They've taken great care of my Boston, Manny, for several years now. Everyone is very nice and they are quick to respond to any questions/concerns. I am particularly impressed with their boarding service -- they have allowed my family to vacation without thinking twice about Manny's condition/health! We consider ourselves fortunate to live in the NW Neighborhood, so close to such an ideal Vet Hospital.

We came to NWNHVH a few months ago looking for a regular vet for one of our pet rats--in particular, one of our new baby rats who developed a myriad of health complications from the beginning. Not many places would put in the time, effort, or care for a little rat that Dr. Prull, Dr. McCormick, and all the amazing staff at NW did, because our baby Tio was so young and rats only live for a couple years. But from the very beginning, Dr. Prull and Dr. McCormick worked so hard to help us and Tio, made us feel cared for and heard, and did absolutely everything they could to help him. The first emergency vet we took him to told us he probably only had a couple days left to live, but thanks to Drs. Prull and McCormick we had six amazing months with him. They were incredibly caring and kind to us all the way through the end with Tio, and we are so lucky that we had them on our side.

Judith Westbrook

Very kind with our pets, great service!

I have been using this vet clinic for at least 25 years...way back to the days of Dr. Morgan, who apparently left us for the Peace Corps (Oh yeah, like that would be more fulfilling that than a visit from my cats!), and have ALWAYS found every vet I've seen amazing!!!...OK it's actually only been 3, Morgan, Maun & Shuler! I can tell you that each one of them have always been kind, caring and curious...curious in always wanting to find the exact cause of any illness my cats have presented. I brag about my vet all the time...you should go.

Good facility, friendly staff, in quiet location.
