$750 to look at your animal, Screw people when they are vulnerable!!!!!!!!

My cat had some asthma issues, we waited over 5 hours. By the time the vet saw him he was better. Then because they could not do xrays riggt away they wanted to charge me to keep him over night. Not what the talked about with us at all. We watched 3 other people leave because of way over pricing and the orders different then what was talked about.

I sat in an uncomfortable plastic chair with my cat in my arms, as she was euthanized. unfortunately it was the only option for her, and although it's something many pet parents have to endure at some point, all they wanted to talk about was money. That place is Hell! The emotions were cold, and it was just another euthanasia to them. Business as usual. I felt like I was in a Nazi gas chamber with my poor baby. Just driving by that place makes me sick. If I had more time to make the decision, I would rather have driven anywhere else for pet care than let these heartless people be around in our last hours together. I would NEVER go back there.

Delane Cunningham

All of the staff were kind, patient, and clearly cared about my pet’s recovery as much as I did. They took great care of him! Thank you all!

We had to take our dog Sammy here cause of him having a seizure they asked us what we wanted to do we told them we wanted to put him to rest because of his health issues. They checked out and told us he didn't show signs of his seizure but agreed that do to his age and other health issues they said by putting him to rest would be wise and told us to take him to our family vet. I asked them how much our bill was and they saw we were emotional and told us there would be no charge for that visit. Thank you so much for helping us out with our Sammy.

Took in our dog a couple of months ago during a weekend because he was lethargic and coughing. They did x-rays and said that he had pneumonia. They kept him overnight to watch him. When we left with him the next day they charged us over $1000. They also didn't give us the x-rays on a disc as they were supposed to because they said they couldn't get the burner to work. They said they would send them to me in email and that my vet would get a copy. Neither of those things happened. We went back to our regular vet a few weeks later since he wasn't improving and they find that he had a huge tumor in the back of his mouth that was gagging him and causing his issues. The tumor was the size of a racquetball. Had it removed and he's feeling a lot better. The fact that I told them it seemed like he was choking on something and they didn't even look makes me think they're incompetent. Never again will I take a pet there.

Our dog ran through a sliding glass door and needed stitches. The Hospital wanted payment in full before working on my boy. They estimate the bill at $750. He wanted 5 hours before receiving treatment and the vet discovered his injuries were less than expected. The bill didn't change. I felt $750 for five stitches was extremely high and the waiting time, horrible.

Traveling from out of state, and in an emergency situation with our Golden there was not a vet on the coast with the technology to diagnose her symptoms. Reading the negative reviews here concerned us greatly, but we had no other choice but to head 2 hours inland to this clinic. We were seen quickly and diagnosis and testing were begun immediately with our permission. Dr. Megan Schneck noticed abdominal fluid while doing an abdominal ultrasound and in searching for the source of the fluid discovered the dire circumstances our baby was in. The care, compassion and communication were excellent, Dr. Schneck even spoke with our vet at home. Sadly we chose to put her down as she was suffering. This was our greatest fear. Despite the outcome, we have no criticism or complaints with the people, services and professionalism provided at this hospital.

If I could give no stars I would. Took my dog in that got hit by a car. They did not take xrays, weren't compassionate at all. They told me "You can either pay 1800 bill or put her down, you could give her to a rescue" they made us feel bad and gave us no choice to help my dog. we ended up going to a different vet and they took exrays. All my dog needed was pain meds and and antibiotics because she had scrapes from the road all over her body.

About a week ago, I woke up to my dog very lethargic and took her to this clinic early in the morning. My dog had a past of having a (benign) liver tumor bursting, causing internal bleeding, and having that tumor removed successfully. They took her in and did an ultrasound. We were told there was a large tumor near/on her spleen and free-floating fluid (bleeding internally). They told us that in order to diagnose the tumor, they needed to go on surgically to do a splenectomy and a biopsy, which was going to cost upwards of $6,500. Since they do not take payments, we decided to take our dog to Veneta (they suggested Veneta), who we found charged half that price. They told us they would forward their notes and ultrasound. Got to Veneta, and the notes hadn’t been sent yet (this was about 3 hours post-original visit with Springfield). The doctor at Veneta kindly offered a free ultrasound since Springfield never sent their notes and ultrasound. They disagreed with Springfield and found the spleen was fine but floating in fluid, but her liver was completely filled with cancer and had holes in it. They told us a surgery was unnecessary because the liver was completely irreparable. I‘m just very confused about how Springfield mixed up organs, especially when I told them her history was with her liver. Around 7 hours later, there was still NOTHING sent over from Springfield, but at that point, we decided to put our dog down since her liver was too far gone. In summary: Our dog was misdiagnosed, and despite the fact they knew my dog was internally bleeding to death, they never sent over their notes and diagnoses to Veneta when they told us they were going to. Unbelievably unprofessional and such a disregard to my pet’s life. I only give two stars because they understood the cost was too great for us and referred us elsewhere.

This place must be used only in life threatening, time sensitive emergencies! If your pet can make it until regular business hours then do so. Although they will tell you that you're pet needs to come see a vet immediately, which the receptionist told every caller during our three hour visit. From the minute you walk in the door the only thing on any of their minds is securing payment for your pet. You are not a human with a pet in need of immediate treatment rather than a big chunk of money they are eager to secure. The first question they will ask you is how you are able to pay and once your animal is taken behind the operating doors they will be sure to persuade you to run every possible test whether it is necessary for them to do so or not. I could not be any more displeased with my experience. They will not provide you with any suggestions or theories on what the best route to take is rather than tell you that they need to run multiple tests until they can figure out exactly what it is. Everyone but the doctor himself will come out to tell you about your pet although if they leave you with no actual information that would allow you to make an educated decision of what is best for your pet. As we were leaving I learned that the vet technician that had been relaying information to us the entire time had never even seen my dog in the three hours I was there yet she was the one describing to me his current state and well-being. Do plenty of online research regarding your pets illness or condition before you bring them to this place and be sure you have enough money in the bank to cover the hefty expenses or you will have wasted your time driving there.

We drove for over two hours to take our elderly toy poodle to this clinic once night this past August. We are from out of town. Our dog appeared to have suffered some type of stroke like event that left him unable to move his hind legs. The veterinary staff was kind and very polite. Unfortunately there a knowledge deficit when it came to identifying and implementing an appropriate plan of care. Being a registered nurse myself and with some understanding after 35 years, of what might be helpful, I was horrified when the best that was offered was "keep him over night to see if he gets worse" (worse in this case meant dead). I asked about steroids and pain meds and was told no for both. I can appreciate that the vet can only provide what he is comfortable with however these were basic responses to the event my dog had suffered and in any case would not have been harmful if the diagnosis was wrong. The dog was returned to me in his blanket soaked with urine- which as he had lost the use of his back legs was a sign highlighting an emergency in of itself. We drove the two hours back to Florence and sat up with our pet till the morning. Luckily the vet clinic in Florence was able to see us right away and they were, after assessing our pet, able to determine the best course of action for his care. Interestingly enough the care notes from the emergency vet were not complete by the next afternoon for the second vet to have. I am appalled that a facility advertising 'emergency care' does not 1. recognize an emergency and 2. does not have sufficient knowledge to devise a plan of care to treat the animal. If your pet is sick do not go here.

My poor dog had been attacked by another dog and had to be put down. They took xrays and ended up putting him down. They charged me $600+ Just for that. I paid for it and for his cremation and to have his ashes back. 1 week later I call them to find out where my dogs ashes were and they inform me that they gave the ashes to another person because she had her sister from Bush animal hospital call them and tell them that the dog belonged to her sister and not me. I never got my dogs ashes back and only got my money back from them AFTER I threatened to sue them with an attorney and that they would be paying out more than they really wanted to. That place is not a place u would take any animal to due to the fact that the management is all about the mo ey and doing the ethical thing when it comes to an animal and the pain it may be in. This is the worst place I have ever seen and by all the ratings that I have seen about this place just proves the point.

Nikki D

They are incompassiinate and do not seem to care.

Ku'ulei Nahale

It is just like an ER for humans. Staff was caring, vet was knowledgeable, everything was straightforward. Even if my critter had died, the staff did great and as expected. The staff here saved my cat who was run over by a car. Then they trained me on how to do home care which lasted almost 3 months. It has been one year now, and he is doing great. Thank you.

Tommy Archuleta

They provided amazing care for my pup and did all they could. The entire staff and Dr. Hewitt were a godsend. Very personable and kind.

Bull Sight

The front desk staff are so slow. Like unnaturally slow. Like worse than the DMV slow.

Terrible waited 1 hour and was the only one there other than staff which was laughing and bs around as I sit in the room with a sick dog that keeps fainting and a crying girlfriend that belives our 8 month old puppy is dying if thats not bad enough was lied to about a consultation that was free and luckily I didnt sign the paper for treatment till I knew In wanted the treatment basically told me after I had brought to the vet attention that I didnt consent of any treatment which I didnt recieve the only thing I did receive was attitude and lack of compassion towards our puppy being sick once money was brought up 200 dollar bill to tell me they were trying to screw us in to paying for non treatment vet told us to get our dog and to leave and proceeded to leave the room after being rude and non compassionate don't ever take your pets there all they want is money not to care for your pet!

When you have an ill or injured animal outside of Banker's hours..oh, sorry, I mean your regular vet clinic's 8-5, M-F hours, you can either choose to allow your animal to suffer or take it to an EMERGENCY vet clinic. I'm shocked by how many negative reviews there are here. Triage: The assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties. Recently we took our "we think she's getting sick" cat in...yes, we were there for over 7 hours...you know why?.... Every time a more urgent case walks in the door, it gets a higher priority. As we don't know what other animals are in the hospital already and what severity they're facing, it's pretty arrogant to decide that we pet owners know better than the professionals as to who needs attention first, most, etc. Every time we've had that late Friday night, early Sunday morning issue, we've had an Emergency Vet Clinic where we could take our fur-child. I'm grateful to them for the incredible service we've received over the years.

My bird landed herself in the emergency vet at midnight on a Sunday from flying into a picture frame on the wall, giving herself a very deep cut on her chest. We're talking exposed organs here. We called the only vet open, and actually got to consult a real doctor about what steps to take. We brought her in, they took her back immediately, and patched her up overnight, sending her home as good as new the next morning. They did have to anesthetize her since birds don't really sit still during surgery, and the grand total came to ~$350, which was quite a bit less than they quoted. They sent her home with antibiotics and pain meds, and were professional and knowledgeable, which is sometimes a crap shoot with avian medicine. The wait was a bit long (we were there for about two hours before we were dismissed for the evening), but that can be expected in any emergency medical setting. I feel bad that they get negative reviews just based on the nature of their business: all of their customers are distraught and in a stressful situation by virtue of the fact that they're at an emergency vet. Our experience was great. If your fluffy friend is in need of care, don't hesitate. Bring them here.

clover barnhart

Waited 2 hours in the waiting room and another hour and a half in a room waiting for the doctor to come see us. Disappointed in staff attentiveness and customer service. Would not recommend.

Emergency Vet Hospital is a top notch animal hospital. When my dog Blazer had a bad reaction to bee stings and had a 110 degree temperature- they acted fast to save my dog's life. Everyone from ownership, management, and the doctors themselves care deeply for the animals they serve.

Daphne Loose

Great place to take your beloved pet in case there is an emergency and no other vet clinics are open.

Kelly Weber

They saved my dogs life!! She was choking on a treat and her tongue was turning blue. I rushed to Emergency Vet Hospital and they got her in oxygen, took x-rays and removed the treat from her trachea. All less than 4 hours - which is amazing for 8:30 on a Tuesday night. Dr. Johnson is a lifesaver (literally!)

annie d.

Unfortunately since the only vets around here are, as was said before, on bankers hours, I had to take my kitty love to this place. Long story short two days and over $2000 later my cat had to be euthanized. My feelings weren’t really taken into consideration, I felt like they just wanted to get it over with and get the money. If I hadn’t been so shaken and in despair to lose my buddy I would have had words with them then. I will now. Obviously money is the name of the game.

Thank you Dr Megan Schneck! Great job! Staff is awesome, even when so busy on a Saturday! Can't say ty enough for helping our Jewel!

Really appreciate the kindness of the staff and the Dr on duty when we came here tonight with our sick cat. We have been twice and this time in particular the Dr was very compassionate and gentle. We had to put the cat to sleep, and they made a little paw print ornament for us to keep. Very thoughtful (and free). It is an emergency services facility, so they have to triage just like a human emergency room. The most dire cases go first and so you may have to wait if it is not the most critical emergency at the moment. All my vets always refer to this facility for emergency services, and we would return if necessary. Thank you to Dr Bailey tonight in particular for his kindness.

We took our 6-7 week old kitten in on a Friday night last month due to her temperature dropping dramatically and not raising. She became sluggish and we rushed her in. They immediately set to work at raising her temperature. It was a busy time, but a few hours and a few updates later the vet said she was doing alright and could go home or we could leave her overnight. It was thought due to our baby being very underweight that she just couldn't warm up herself. (We had received her this way and had been doing everything we could to try to get her weight up) Of course we opted to take her home since the vet said it should be perfectly fine and to just make sure she was warm and eating. She was back to her old self and so we didn't think anything of it. The next morning (Saturday) she crashed. Within minutes she just seemed to go limp and give up and had uncontrollable diarhea. We thought she had just fallen asleep until we realized she was weak. Setting her down we realized she was too weak to stand. We rushed her back to the vet. It was empty and they took her back immediately. I saw no hesitation in getting her some care. We were informed she might not make it in what I feel was the gentlest way they could without giving false hope. We told them to do everything they possibly could and also explained we only had a small amount of money to work with. Student loans had killed any other option. They did what they could with our budget and assured us that even if we spent more there was likely not going to be another outcome. Our darling girl never recovered despite all of our efforts and we made the difficult decision to let her go peacefully. The vets allowed us to go back and say our goodbyes and respectfully allowed us time enough to do so. I myself could not watch her be put to sleep. We each got a paw print and two weeks later have received a personalized sympathy card with her name. Despite our loss I am thankful to the staff for all they did for us.

Went yesterday to put my beloved 15 year old son down due to F.I.P. the woman up front asked a lot of questions and took him back to have the euthanasia approved. They got us into a room within 3 minutes of arriving. They were all so pleasant. We got our son back in the room with us and explained everything. They even hugged me while I was crying. Told us to take as much time as needed before they came in. And even after told us we had as much time as we needed. The pricing was very reasonable better than most places in town. Thank you for helping me through the hardest day of my life.

Dont take your pets there if your from out of state. They will gouge you. The procedure would have been about $200 in california. I paid over $800. The Vet first said it might be a fungus and then he said it was dog bites.. this dog has never been out of my site for years and is an indoor dog. The other dog in the house would not bite her and I would have heard that kind of a fight. The dog was losing hair for a week and had a massive infection that came about in one week. I had her in the local vet where I lived and they didnt find anything. Infections of that nature dont just come out because of a dog bite in less than 7 days. On top of it all, they first said it would be $120 to put her down but then it was just under $200. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE IF YOUR FROM OUT OF STATE. THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!

I have a mixed review. We had to go in on a Sunday afternoon because our dog had been vomiting all day. The staff was incredibly nice and very caring and took really good care of our dog while she was there and we really appreciated it. We did wait for a long time and while we were there at least 3 people had animals die so prepare yourself for an emotional environment, that's just the way it goes in an emergency setting. Our dog was vomiting and acting like she had a blockage. The vet did an xray and saw something in the stomach, and guessed it was cloth. We did tell the vet she had recently eaten, and not vomited it up yet. we were hesitant to jump to surgery so the vet did an ultrasound and 'verified' it was cloth. So, they did surgery and guess what? it was food. That alone was irritating, because we could have just put her on an IV and waited to see if things moved, but they really acted like she needed to get in. Obviously if there was just food in her stomach there was no life threatening thing going on. To make matters worse, after going through a major surgery they had NO good idea on what the cause of the vomiting could be and literally went through a list of dozens of possible causes (including cancer), giving us zero confidence that they'd learned anything while she was there. We checked her out Monday morning, took her to our vet and she's stable and doing fine. The Emergency Vet was good about faxing all the pertinent info to our Vet, but they've not followed up with us at all to check on our dog. My opinion on this fiasco is, when you've got a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I suspect they see a lot of very urgent scenarios and are used to 'going in' right away to deal with them vs. taking a more conservative wait and see and evaluate approach. This is probably mostly due to environment (lots of urgent cases coming in and needing to move things through quickly to resolution). So, mixed review. Impressed with the level and quality of care and staff, not impressed with the dr's ability to take a step back and use critical thinking to avoid an un-necessary surgery.

Waited way to long. ..6 hours !!

Stephanie Timmons

Thanks for taking such great care of Rudy! She loved being there! It was the first vet that she was comfortable in. She had a lovely stay and most importantly your amazing staff helped my 12 yr old JRT get healthy again ♡ The doctors were extremely knowledgeable and treated my dog as if she was one of their own. I can see that they take a great passion in what they do. I would highly recommend this emergency Veterinary Clinic.

PhoebeFay RuthLouise

These lovely people saved my precious cat's life in the middle of the night! I recommend them wholeheartedly!

Thomas Falconer

My dog was in pain and couldn't walk. When we were leaving I asked if they had given anything for pain, and they hadn't. They opened one of the prescriptions for her pain and gave that to our dog. The pain medicine didn't seem to be working like it should. We looked up the medication online and they had given her the wrong medicine that night and provided us with improperly labeled prescriptions holding the wrong medication. We watched our beloved family member suffer needlessly her last day with us due to their carelessness. We got clear answers from a different vet the next day and had to end our family members suffering.

Anthony Forcellini

This may be a great resource if your animal was hit by a car after hours but anything else forget it. I have taken animals here twice and have been turned off by the hard up-sell of thousands of dollars of testing and observation when they quite frankly didn't have a good explanation for what was wrong with my pets. After making my partner and I feel bad for going against the dr's recommendations, it took over a half an hour to release our animals to us. I hope I am never in a position where I have to go back here again.

Sarah May

I give them zero stars but there is no option for that. They were very rude and pressured us into giving up our cats. Nobody should ever go there unless it is an absolute emergency and are ready to pay a load of money.

Kittensquirrel

I don't generally leave reviews, but on this, I feel compelled to. After a tragic accident, we lost our beloved cat about a month ago. We brought him to this hospital in the middle of the night, and around 24 hours later, we had to let him go. Under the worst possible circumstances, we found some of the most kind and compassionate people. Dr. Max Rinaldi was with us in the end and he and the rest of the team made sure we were completely informed on everything, respected our wishes, and genuinely cared about both Ace and ourselves. Very often in these lines of work, you find people who are detached and impersonal, trying to just do the job and not have to feel so they can survive. These are not those people. These are the kinds of people you want with you in a crisis.

Sabina Amos-Ryan

Completely negligent care. They sent my cat home saying it was nothing after paying $170 for the visit. The conditions worsened over the weekend to no eating, drinking or walking and they try to charge me full price again for another visit when I'm just trying to resolve the problems they overlooked last time. Don't go here if you don't have to. Find a better more attentive vet that actually wants to help your pet.

James Oden

See, this is complicated. A couple of years ago we had to put down one of our cats due to a blood clot, and the staff at this emergency vet was exemplar in how that happened. Very kind, gentle with our boy in his last few hours, and wonderful with us. Tonight though, I had to bring in my other boy. He has been a part of our lives for 6 years. When we got him he was borderline completely feral, but through a lot of patience and care and love you wouldn't know that today. Anyway, he showed up late tonight at the house after lazing about outside in the warmth. When he came in we noticed he had a large injury on the side of his stomach that looked like a pellet gun injury. I called them and explained that I had no available funds at hand (the reason for this was unexpected, and beyond that the kids come before any of us for school and their needs). I also explained that my credit was not good enough to get the care credit line going. I was told that the initial basic check on vitals did not cost, and that there "were options" that might be available to me for anything else. I got there and they brought him back while I filled out the check in information. While I was filling this out, one of the staff came out and asked me about the initial fee of $98 and some change. I was appalled, but explained what I had been told. Not long after they brought him back out and explained that, and I quote: "We are a business and we can't do anything without payment." I was LIVID. I firmly, but cordially explained what I had been told, again. I also explained that having experience in an animal rescue taught me that you do NOT put undue stress on any animals, and in particular felines, when they are injured. If I had known that those "options" basically boiled down to trying to "gently" press me for payment, I wouldn't have put my boy through that. That kind of stress lower immune system efficacy for days and potentially for over a week. The end result of this useless visit that wouldn't have happened if I had not been told that there were "options" when I called that were in fact non-existent could be my boy getting an infection and dying painfully. Thank you EVH for an important life lesson that I honestly should have already known. I feel now like the only reason our first visit went the say it did was because it was an end of life moment and we hag cash to pay up front.

Brett Ansite

Our dog was throwing up and they saw us @ 11 PM no problem. Waiting seemed a little long for being the only people there. The exam was $45 with a $45 emergency fee and $90 for some rehydrating and nausea reducing shots.

Kathleen Arnold

I work for a dog rescue and in the middle of the nighty one of our dogs went into labor and couldn't birth her puppies on her own. She required an emergency c-section. The staff at EVH was kind and responsive. My only real complaint is that the cost of this care has been outrageously expensive. I understand that this is an ER, but the $3,700+ price tag is brutal and can really hurt a rescue's budget four helping these discarded animals. I believe that local rescues should be offered a discount for instances that was truly emergent. Just to reiterate, the staff at the EVH is very kind and compassionate

DAVID Medsker

Thank you guys so much with our chinchilla. Buddy is doing just fine now thanks to your quick response. From the bottom of my heart thank you.

Lorin Loomis

Cold and uncompassionate staff with lots of eye rolls and sneers. I can see why they have the lowest ratings of all places and will be taking my sweet critters elsewhere in the future.

Last night we took 2 feral kittens down to the Emergency Vet because they looked to be very, very sick. The kittens seemed fine the day before but whatever it was that they had contracted had progressed extremely quickly. We arrived and the waiting room was full but the front desk staff person came right out and took the babies back so that they could get started on treatment and observation. We waited for several hours, however, looking around the room and seeing so many animals that were just as sick as the kittens (or worse), the wait was understandable. We were called back to wait in a consultation room and asked by the vet what we'd like to do for the kitties. We told her that we wanted to pursue the kindest and most humane course of action for the them to which she said that we could try treatment but because the kittens were so sick, she didn't think they'd make it. We decided to let them go. :-( After a short wait, a vet tech came in with our kittens and let us love on them and say goodbye. She let us know that because of their extremely small veins and dehydration that they'd have to use gas to sedate them which could be too much for us to see. She assured us that she personally would hold the kittens while they passed so that they'd be comforted as it happened. I can't say enough how that reassurance helped make the whole process easier. I am so grateful to her for doing that for us. Afterward, we were given two heart-shaped casts of each of the kittens paw prints for keepsakes. They also put the kitties into a box for us and drew hearts on the top where their heads were. This was a sweet gesture on their part and, once again, greatly appreciated by us. They were very busy but still took the time to help us let them go. All in all, for a very bad night, they made it bearable, something we are very, very grateful for. While it was a terrible night for us, it was probably worse for the vet since she was the one who had to deliver several messages of bad news that night. Even as busy as they were, they were still compassionate. Yes, the wait was long, but we weren't the only family there with animals for treatment. I appreciated that they took the time to actually try and save the kittens and not just look at them and decide they were beyond help. Yes, you're probably going to have to wait in the office a bit. From the time we checked in to the time we were called back (about 2 hours) 5 new owners with their pets came in. When we left, the waiting room was still full but with all new pets and owners. I feel that both the clinic staff as well as the vet and vet techs were doing the best they could with the volume of patients that they had.

My mother passed away 9 months ago and we have been nursing her cat’s poor health. She cry’s all the time and is soiling everywhere she goes, she struggles to get around and she appears to be in pain, especially her back. Getting into the cat litter box is very difficult for her. She is probably about 12 years old. We wanted to put her down peacefully and respectfully. I was told by the vet’s assistant that the vet did not feel the cat should be put down as her vitals are good and she is eating. The assistant also ended the conversation by saying “it appears that it is more of a convenience” wow was I stunned. I would not recommend this vet. On a positive note, the receptionist was very kind. Hind site, I probably should have spoken directly to the Vet, but I was too stunned by the assistance comment.

Thomas Addison

Had to take my dog there for vomiting while visiting family in the area. They immediately did some tests and diagnosed the problem and he was better within 2 days and is doing great. Thanks Emergency Vet Hospital for saving my dear pup! You guys rock!

Read the proposed charges before agreeing to service! These people are in it for the money, they know they have you over a barrel when in need of emergency services, and they are more than happy to charge you for extra items. I took a look at my proposed charges, there was $160 fee for a test to see if my animal "was safe" to anesthetize, since it was obvious he was going to need stitches I asked the staff what would happen if the test came back negative? would they not operate on my animal? They said no, and agreed to take the charge off for the unnecessary test. They will give you one heckuva guilt trip about it. Oh -- and bring your own leash -- they charged me $18 for a cheap crappy leash for my obviously stationary dog, the last time I paid 18 bucks for a leash it was a beautiful organic hemp leash. And bring your own cone if you have one already, they charge $36 for that piece of plastic. So, buyer beware, use only if you must, BUT ALWAYS READ YOUR PROPOSED CHARGES FIRST!!

Our puppy was sick and we brought him in. They immediately took him back to check his vitals, and while the wait time took a bit, they were responsive. He originally was going to stay overnight as he ingested something that wasn't sitting well. After receiving an IV, he was more alert and they called us and told us we could pick him up. The estimated cost was cut in half and he's perked up and feeling better! Thank you for taking care of our baby boy.

We were waken up early Sunday morning by our little dachshund that was obviously in some pretty serious pain. After trying to figure out her problem and not sure if she was going to make it until Monday morning to go to our regular vet, we called this emergency animal hospital. They ask a few questions and then said, "bring her in." We bundled her up and made the 30 minute trip to town. There were several people ahead of us, (what is it with animals getting sick on weekends?) but they did an initial triage to determine if she was in any immediate danger. She did not appear to be so. Considering what was going on there, I feel the wait was quite reasonable. Once we got into the exam room, the Technician took her vitals and then let the on duty vet know she was ready. With the information we provided and an examination, the vet was able to diagnose exactly what was wrong with her -- a strained or ruptured disc in her back. This is pretty common in her breed, but the vet, w/o x-rays, was able to pinpoint its exact location. Melanie Blystone, the vet, was very friendly and professional. Additionally, she set us at ease while explaining our pet's treatment and future options. Overall, we found the entire staff to demonstrate professionalism, while showing compassion toward our little girl's plight. Finally, I fully expected to have a huge bill when all was said and done, but we left there for just over $150, including three prescriptions. I consider that an excellent bargain for any veterinarian visit, let alone an emergency pet hospital early on a Sunday morning. I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend them to anyone or to return ourselves. I just hope it is never necessary.

Our very best friend, Shasta, died last night at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. I say this so you will know that our outcome was not what we wished for. Nevertheless, the staff at EVH was nothing but compassionate, kind, caring, and attentive to our dog and to us from the moment we arrived on referral from our regular vet on Friday afternoon and throughout the whole weekend while Shasta fought for her life and we spent our last days with her. Yes, they did give us an estimate when we arrived so that we would know what to expect and could decide how far we wished to go to save Shasta. And, yes, they do deserve to be paid for services they perform. Even though Shasta stayed for 24 hours more than included in the estimate, the hospital’s costs were still within the estimate. We were in the lobby several times waiting to visit with Shasta and witnessed every sort of horrible accident and illness that you could imagine your pet could suffer from come through the front door. These wonderful folks handled each case with obvious love and care, efficiency and competence. Anyone who reports differently is delusional or just plain nuts. Do not hesitate to bring an animal you love to be cared for in an emergency by these wonderful professionals. That they handle these tough cases day in and day out knowing that a few malcontents have hurt the hospital’s rating is a sad, sad situation. We will always be grateful to them for making the loss of our friend somewhat bearable.

My wife and I brought our fourteen year old Australian Shepherd who'd had two strokes in quick succession. He was unable to stand or walk, was vomiting, had lost control of his bodily functions, and generally very sick and unable to function. In addition, our sweet friend had been suffering the verities of old age and terrible arthritis in his back hips. The veterinarian basically told us to go to Portland for $2,500.00 worth of tests we could not afford, and sent us home telling us he would not put our dog out of his misery, that he "might get better." Well not only did he not get better, but after a week of waiting and hoping and living in a constant state of upset, we took him to our regular vet (who had not been available at the time or we would have taken our dog to her), who took one look at our dog and asked us why we'd waited so long. Bottom line...this guy decided that we were looking for a reason to put our dog down, and put my wife through an ordeal she still has not recovered from. I understand wanting to to everything you can to spare the life of an animal. We had our boy since he was a pup, and he was over fourteen when we finally had to make that heart-wrenching decision. He was well loved and well taken care of (as even the vet admitted). But this guy was ridiculous. I warn you if you need GOOD guidance, I'd skip this place. We'd have been better off to wait until Monday morning to see if we could find a substitute Vet. We just didn't want our boy to suffer that long.

RAM RANTS

They killed my dog. Then charged me thousands for it. They’re scam artists.

Ronald Betournay

I don't understand the negative reviews for this facility. I can only guess it has to do with customer expectations. During the recent trials and tribulation of the passing of our dog, these people were kind, courteous and respectful during the entire process. Entirely professional and understanding of our plight. They were able to take us in right away versus the delay that we would have had to go through at our normal vet because they were headed for lunch and they didn't want to have to make us wait.

Max Heegard

Our Chihuahua has congestive heart failure that we treat with medicine twice daily. She had a really bad coughing/vomiting blood episode and we rushed her here because it was a Sunday and the only place to turn to. Despite being pretty busy they got her right in, got her on oxygen, pumped her with meds... She was in really bad shape and could hardly breath. The doctors got right to work, she has to stay overnight to remain under watch and on oxygen. 24 hours later she was discharged and has been back to her normal self, with a new regimen on her meds which is working. I had to give a good review for them because 1. They saved our dogs life and took her out of suffering. 2. So many bad reviews on this page and I feel like a lot of them are left out of severely emotionally charged patrons. These doctors are people, they’re not magicians or wizards... If your animal is going to the Emergancy Vet Hospital, it’s very likely you won’t leave here with the luck we’ve experienced. I don’t think that’s a just reason to slander this business who is trying their best in an EXTREMELY difficult practice. For all the people who gave one star, I understand how hard it is to see a struggling pet, or have a pet pass away... I’ve been a pet owner all my life. Before you post a nasty review because you didn’t get the results you had hoped, please put yourself in the shoes of the staff and doctors at EVH. I would have given 5 stars but here is why not: 1. The floors and place overall could be a little cleaner. 2. While the doctors were very knowledgeable, the people who work the front desk (while very nice) aren’t extremely knowledgeable on a pet-by-pet basis. We felt left in the dark a lot of the time while our girl was getting treated and made for a very stressful 24 hours. At the end of the day all I can say is THANK YOU TO THE STAFF AND DOCTORS!!

Elsie Acosta

Short staffed...not sympathetic at all...felt like they just wanted money. Very disappointed. Did not help my pet at all.

Nathan Steele

The staff working after midnight was very kind and accommodating. 5 stars. They are the only clinic even attempting to have 24 hour emergency care and consultation. Our regular vet had NO options for weekend or after hour emergencies. I'm glad they were there when we needed them.

Debbie Petersen

Excellent service. Compassionate care.

Roy Hewitt

We have never been treated so poorly by a Vet, Kathy Sherwood should not be practicing. This woman was so rude to my wife and had no concern for my dog. Arragant and flat out horrible. Fire Her! If anyone reads this demand another Vet. I will not darken your doorstep again. Negative stars, This place sucks!!!

Heather Bryan

Blatant lack of concern and professionalism. We literally waited in the lobby for them to "fill" a pain prescription and pay our bill and leave for 90 minutes!! There were 3 other couples waiting for the same and no current emergency being seen. The staff was just sitting around laughing and chatting causally, and not paying attention to any of the clients. I'm not used to such a lack of awareness or concern. Judging by their rating this is a common occurrence and they don't view it as a problem.

Franki Ortega

They may take a lng time to get people/animals out the door but that is because they are extremely though, the actually care about the animals that come into their clinic. Thanks again for the best service I have ever experienced in animal emergencies.

Jakob Zundel

I waited here for 7 hours to get blood work a urinalysis and a few shots for my cat... Paid 750$ and still have zero insight as to what is wrong with my pet. Vet spent probably 5 minutes with my cat and wrote me off. Do not take your animal here unless you have no other options

Stefen Bolander

Had to take my very sick cat in, in the middle of the night. They immediately took him back. They were very kind and went through all the options. Ultimately our cat had to be put down. The were very courteous and let us lead the way. For emergency middle of the night services I would recommend them and use them again.

Whitney Lee

I agree with the last reviewer. I brought my cat in there yesterday and spent all the money I had on tests. They had no answers for me. Tried to charge me $1500 to stay overnight for more tests which I didn't have so they sent me home with 1 day worth of pain meds. I borrowed money the next day for more pain meds so I could at least keep him comfortable and they refused them. Said they only thing could do for me was more tests. The car ride was so traumatizing for him and he is in such bad condition, if anything I feel like I should euthanize him but I wanted to give him another day or two to see if might pull through. The girl at the front desk was horrible, so cold (she hung up on me after I started to get frustrated). All they care about it money. I'm so sad and angry. I really don't recommend this place at all :(

Aimee Belleville

The staff was kind, my dog had jumped out of my car so i needed to make sure his vitals were checked as well as for any wounds. They checked his vitals, but missed the nasty wound under his armpit of the leg he was limping on. They told me it was bruised or sprained, well come to find out the next day its been ripped and road burned...so it went unwashed/treated - hopefully an infection doesnt occur. I also waited 2.5 hrs, and my pooch was checked on for maybe 15 mins of that time. He was looked at by 3 ppl, all of which had to ask for the basic story again. One of the vets even questioned if he was swollen or just well fed...she was asking my dog that in a pet voice which left me feeling like she didnt know if he was swollen or not. The check up rooms look dirty and run down as well. Something needs to be done about all these bad reviews, i wish i checked here before taking him, maybe eugenes emergency pet is better. Changed from 1 to 3 stars bc they give free rechecks within 48 hrs. They had me in and out within 30mins this time.

Had my 5 year old Retreiver seem distant and clumsy - took her to the vet thinking she was bloated. Turns out she wasn’t suffering from bloat - but for some reason they needed $4000 to operate after ultrasound tests showed possible fluid in her abdomen. Warned the doctors of her sensitivity to anesthesia - woke up to a phone call saying she had passed 20 minutes ago and if I approved of them stopping CPR. Picked up her collar and paid the thousands of dollars - the tech was very insensitive and cracking jokes while my family was there, losing our minds. Almost needed emergency surgery on the vet tech. My vet looked over the file - questions after questions about what led them to operate. Hate that this is the only emergency vet in Eug/Springfield - every time I drive past that place I want to light it on fire.

Jasmine Montoya

At first, I didnt want to go because I heard all the horror stories and how expensive it was. I ended up here over Memorial Day wknd with my daschund who had back pain. We ended up just paying for the visit and a shot for the pain, the Dr didn't think my dog was in pain and that he would be fine until he could see a regular vet. It cost me $150.00. The girl at the front desk was super kind and respectful of the situation. Dr Laura was really nice, she listened and gave me tons of helpful info about intervebral disc disease in dogs that was easy to understand. She was sympathetic and understanding. She didn't try to push any unneccessary procedures/meds/etc on me at all. She understood my situation and what I could and couldn't afford and worked with me. The receptionist/dr's were even helping other customers to find different vets that were open so they didn't have to pay 100 to be seen for something that could wait and would be much cheaper somewhere else. Overall, it was a good experience for ME and MY situation with my dog.

robert stulac

This is a terrible place to bring your loving family pet for a medical emergency. My dog was definitely sick, dehydrated, and in some pain. They wanted to keep her for the whole weekend, but they wanted me to sign and pay upfront a bill for approx 4 thousand dollars before they would check her in to this dirty understaffed place. I checked the online reviews for this place while waiting to speak to the Vet, when I saw all the terrible reviews I quickly left, which probably saved my dogs life. The place is a terrible rip off, unclean, and unprofessional!!

chayse musolf

Our sweet little sphynx kitten managed somehow to cut her tail down to the bone at 9pm on a Saturday night. I'm a vet tech at a local hospital, but we're M-F only so I knew we had to get her into EVH. We brought her in without calling first, the receptionist was so kind and calming in such a stressful situation. They immediately took our baby to the back and assessed her bleeding, gave her a pain relief injection, and did a quick wrap to stop the bleeding. Waiting room had about 4 other clients waiting, we were in a room within 25 minutes. The veterinarian was so knowledgeable and friendly, laid out a clear and concise plan, and made us feel so comfortable leaving our kitten with them for a sedated procedure. She was ready right when they told us she would be and is happy and doing well afterwards. Not to mention the cost of the visit felt extremely reasonable for the quality of care offered (On an emergency basis, no less!) Thank you to EVH staff for your compassionate and skilled care you offer 24/7. Can't recommend them enough.

J.E. Sunseri

I had to have my 20-year-old cat euthanized after an accident in which his back leg and hip were broken. They were wonderful at this very difficult time, sensitive to my deep grief (20 years is a long time and I loved Earl Grey very much). I held Earl in my arms as he drifted away. Afterwards, they sent me a sympathy card. It was very moving. Last but not least, the cost for this emergency service was very, very reasonable. I couldn't recommend the Emergency Veterinary Hospital more.

Cmder Vimes

Dr. Megan Schheck and the nurse was helpful. However, I spent 5 hours (and counting as I write this) not only waiting to be seen, but to talk to the doc, and the return of my cat. All while crew change chatted half an hour. During this time there is hardly anyone here.

Andrea Fisher

Amazing staff! Very gentle and kind especially in a time of need/sorrow. The staff were very gentle with our Tucker boy when he was so sick he couldn’t even stand. When we had to make the very hard decision of putting him down, they allowed us as much time as our family needed to say our goodbyes. This was very helpful especially for our kids. The day had come to pick up Tucker’s remains and the lady that brought him out was so loving that she even gave me a hug. I never got her name but she knows who she is. That hug meant a lot! I can’t thank the staff enough for the cards, gentleness & compassion they had for our family!

Dan Koozer

We brought our Rat Terrier to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital when we reached that time when we all knew it was time to let her go. The staff was VERY comforting for us. They examined her and agreed it was the best thing to do for her. It was all handled so very well and we appreciate their compassion. Financially it was also the best route we found for this task that we certainly didn't want to do. Thank you Emergency Veterinary Hospital.

Jesse Soto

Was told care would cost $250 for antibiotics and to clean the wound after a dog bite!!! If that's not bad enough I return to pick my dog up and am presented with a $400 bill. I will never use their service again.

Connie Ingle

Im 2200 hours from home my basset hound needed to be seen, never been treated so rudely on the phone, only concern was price, when it comes to my dogs price is not a issue!!!!! BEWARE OF THESE RUDE PEOPLE!!!!

brian castleberry

After sitting in the car with my dog(pitbull) for over an hour and a half, in 30 degree weather we gave up and left to look for another vet. I had to give them 1 star to post so its a lie. No star

Angela Lavender

The staff, Vet and Vet Assistants were VERY rude the last time we took our cat in for emergency care! The woman at the front desk was clueless as to what was going on and was reading from a script when telling us what follow-up care was needed for our cat. The staff were very short and curt with us when we asked questions and we were the last people they helped even though we got there before other people. When we declined to sign the $700 agreement of care they treated us even worse. I took our cat to our regular vet for follow-up the next week and they told me that the Emergency Vet noted in our chart that they offered a certain type of treatment to us and we refused which is a total lie! We asked if that treatment was needed and they said no! I really wish there was another Emergency Vet in town..

Eric Otto

My Dog got into a fight with a nutria. He is bleeding. And in pain. And I have been in this office/waiting room for over an hour. And have still not seen the vet. I will never recommend/ Or come here again. Had to wait for 20 minutes while the lady in the front was "chatting" with another customer about their cat.... while the sign said people with the most needed immediate attention will be helped first, I sat around waiting for cat chat.... Finally just got seen... and they hardly looked at the dog and said they want to keep him for a few hours, and come up with a big quote for $$ already? They haven't even looked at his bite marks. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

amylynnwow

I can't thank these folks enough -- they saved my dog's life! He had a partial blockage in his intestines, and they took swift and decisive action to remove it and provided excellent post-op care. They also did a great job communicating with me: calling regularly with updates, including at 4am to tell me the results of his surgery. Of course emergency pet care is going to be costly, but they went over every expense and erred on the high side in the estimate. I recommend applying for CareCredit: it's basically a health care credit care that offers 18 months no interest. It completely covered our bill.

Lisa Kolbuss

Excellent care! My guinea pig, Hodor, became extremely ill last week. When guinea pigs get ill, they get very ill, very quickly. And it's tough to find vets that treat guinea pigs. My normal vet was on vacation. Hodor was treated quickly. The vet immediately gave him pain medication, and sent us home with everything we needed to care for him, including special food. When Hodor needed a refill on pain med, he was given it promptly. Emergency Veterinary Hospital saved my little guy's life.

Carolyn Dimmick

My kitten crashed though my window screen playing and fell 40 ' down to the sidewalk. She suffered brain trauma. She had to be put down. They didn't take her to the back to be seen for at least 15 minutes, even though she was bleeding out her nose and all they kept talking to me about was money. I was sitting in an exam room waiting to hear SOMETHING about my 5.9 lb. kitten, and all the staff are in the back laughing and joking and I am in a panic about my kitten. The girl who was working up front could only talk to me about money, she had NO compassion whatsoever. I told her I didn't want to deal with her, and only wanted to speak to the vet, but yet she was STILL the only one who would come in the room. They don't listen, they don't care. I had to have my kitten put down. I was heartbroken. She survived a hurricane and numerous health issues and traveling across the country, but not her playtime. I don't recommend them to ANYONE.

Cynthia Griggs Niswonger

At the risk of these people taking this out on my pet, I need to say DON’T put these people in charge of your animal! A VCH hospital is nearby. Go there. EVH is very understaffed. We’ve never left in under 2 hours. And if you haven’t paid, for a critically ill (RETURN, released by THEM, too soon) you may STILL need 3+ hours spent with your pet UN treated until you are given an opportunity, to finally sign for payment. I left my autistic son’s cat with them because of the holiday——they charged me into THE ridiculous. Released him, AND he never recovered. I brought him back. They had to re cath and IV fluid (major infection risk) but——-they let him suffer without intervention until we could pay. And we tried but front office is so backed up it took 3 hours!!!! I am from out of State. I left him until my father can return him. They won’t update me if I call. My animal is beyond stressed. They’ve charged me over a barrel. They are way understaffed and overworked and their compassion is lost, because of it. Front office can’t possibly cover and back office is in reachable. I’m no native but here’s what I know. Go to East Lake Veterinary Clinic with Doctor Brian. But DO NOT leave your pets HERE.i May have killed my pet——WITH poor or miserably delayed treatment. That may factor. But also absolutely because they’ve charged me over 3 K for questionable ‘care’ and now I have no options financially, even IF I get him

Katie Woodfield

Before taking my dog to this place, I read the reviews. Most of the reviews I read were awful and almost turned me away. I'm so glad I pushed through and went with my gut and took my dog anyway. The people there were so nice and so helpful and just all around a good experience for me. We were there a long time, yes. But that is to be expected, I think for an emergency.

Lee Halley

Took my ferret here, paid a bunch of money for exrays and medicine and it turns out the only thing that was wrong with her was she had too many fleas.... she died because a licensed vet couldnt tell me that ferrets cant have fleas. will not be coming back.

Mikel G

This place is a last resort option and by last resort I mean if you're animal is literally dying. They show no concern for yourself or you're animal. The lady at the front had an attitude and was very unprofessional which is the opposite of what is expected in these kinds of situations. They told me to wait and somebody would be with me shortly. I waited for an hour and a half and then had somebody come out and tell me the doctor has to go into surgery and that I should probably go somewhere else because he won't be able to help me for 4 hours. I then insisted somebody see my puppy and 45 min later the doctor came in, looked at her fed her some food and said she was fine (total of 5 mins or less). I was then charged over $80. I left there feeling cheated, unhappy and told myself I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE EVER AGAIN. This place capitalizes on the fact there are no other emergency vets in Eugene. STAY AWAY!

Jessica Barnes

I had one of the most stressful experiences as a dog mom two nights ago when my dog Ludo started showing symptoms of salmon poisoning. All I knew about salmom poisioning at that point was that it can become fatal very quickly. His temp was 106.8 when we rushed him here where they made us wait for 3 hours before even discussing a treatment plan for him. I have never felt like such an angry mamma bear in my life. After puting us on the back burner for so long they came in to tell me how urgent it was for us to pay for a $1700 treatment that required hospitalization/blood tests/iv fluids Etc. Etc. Etc... I am so grateful for all of the knowledge that I've aquired over the last 7 years as a groomer. When I looked at that list of procedures I was able to say I want two of these fifteen things you're offering me and I want to go home. They tried so hard to make me feel like I was making a bad decision.. These vets play off of our fear and our love for our pets, it's disgusting. We brought Ludo home against their very strong advice and he avoided the stress of being left in a kennel and getting poked at with needles by strangers. He's been comfortable at home with 24 hour care. $200 and 24 hours later Ludo's temperature is completely gone and I am confident that he is going to come out of this very very quickly..

My dog had liver failure and we had to put her down. She was 17 with a tumor we did not know about and there was nothing we could do to help her once her liver shut down. Everyone from the vet techs to the dr were all so wonderful and understanding. They let us take our time with our goodbyes, they were patient and waited for the rest of my family to drive down and say their goodbyes and let us be there with her until the end. They gave us a plaster cast of her paw print to keep and also sent us a card in the mail sending their condolences. I could not have asked for a better group of people to care for her, she was like our child. We have been with them before when she got hurt and needed medical attention from another dog attacking her. Their care and customer service have never been subpar. Thank you all again!

Did not feel safe taking our cat here

Kim Cunningham

This place is awful! I'm giving one star because I have to. They deserve zero! I realize that my case is unique because I took in a chicken, but I called first. The person on the phone said, "we don't normally see chickens, but today you're in luck". That was my first clue this might not be the greatest idea, but I felt desperate. My chickens are not farm animals, they are birds that love to be snuggled and held. They mean as much to me as my cat's do. I get there, no one else was in the waiting room. There were 4 or 5 women in the small booth behind the glass walled counter, chatting and laughing like there was nothing else to do. It made me feel very uneasy. I waited about 15 minutes before they called our name, but at that time they took my chicken away from me and took her in the back room. Normally the vet examines your animal in your presence. What are they hiding? After another 15-20 minutes the vet assistant comes in and asked me questions, then leaves. Another 15-20 minutes, the vet comes in. He asked me the same questions. I then tell him the procedure I think needs done to help my chicken. He tells me there's no such procedure and my chicken had Marek's disease, which is fatal. Right then I knew this guy didn't know anything about chickens, but I also didn't want to see my girl suffer. He asked if I wanted an estimate of treatment. I said ok, which was more of a waste of time because that took another 15-20 minutes and I still didn't have my chicken. The estimate was $1,049.-$1,349 for an uncurable, fatal disease. I said NO, I want my chicken back, I'm leaving. Then they became very rude and treated me as if I was abusing my chicken. They kicked me out of the exam room and made me wait 40 minutes to get my chicken back. The cost for doing nothing to help my chicken, $98.00. As I was checking out, they again tried to make me feel guilty by telling me my chicken was in critical condition. I took my chicken home, brought her in the house and tried to make her as comfortable as I could. I didn't sleep at all that night because I was so worried about my girl. Well, my chicken made it through the night, we saw our vet the next morning. Our vet preformed the procedure I had requested at the emergency vet the evening before and was told "there was no such procedure". We also got an antibiotic. How simple, right? My chicken was back to her old self in a few days and is happily living the good life running around the backyard doing what chickens do. That was almost 2 months ago. I truly feel sorry for anyone who ends up here in desperation. This place preys upon people in this situation. Do yourself and your animal a favor. Wait if possible or choose another place.

Tiffany Weikel

I almost drove a half hour away to another emergency vet due to the negative reviews given here. And I understand some of the frustrations, but overall I had a good experience and would return if emergency care was needed again. We arrived with my dog very sick. It didn't take long to be put into a room, and they were fairly busy, about 4 other cars in the parking lot. It did take quite some time to actually be seen by an assistant, but once we were, we got her undivided attention and she cared. She helped me make the right decisions, what all needed to be done versus what my budget would allow. Ultimately saved me a lot of stress and some money. Her honest input allowed me to make an informed decision on the care.. we did not get to really ever see the actual dvm. And once your dog is handed over to receive care, you don't really see the pet again until they are discharged. My regular vet allows me to be much more involved and hands on with my dogs care, which i prefer. But all in all, if your pet needs emergency care, they get the job done and do what's needed to help save your pet... Rebecca, the gal who was on duty working with my dog did amazing and really made things easy on us all. Very compassionate and caring-- She made our experience exceptional.

Tayler

UNDERSTAFFED. Only one vet on duty when there is a full waiting room. Not enough seating; people were sitting on the floor, or outside when there was smoke from the forest fires. Be prepared to wait at least 2 or more hours after you hand over your pet to hear anything. When "discharged" be prepared to wait another 30-45 minutes to pay your bill. NO AVIAN VETERINARIANS HERE. Rather than wait for hours to be seen here, it's worth driving to the Rivers Edge Pet Medical Center in Albany where they do have a vet with avian knowledge. Call first.

Cristin Berry

If you have birds STAY AWAY. I would have given this NO stars if i could. I go to the vet with my sick 3 month old conure, (small parrot) I wait for FOUR HOURS, seriously i was in at 11am and left frustrated and wanting to cry at 2:40 and when I finally see the doctor, a Doctor Schniek she tells me that there is nothing that she can do for me and then tries to charge me 100 bucks! She says in a very b**** way, "well, i told the staff to send you to corvalis." "Since no one told me you weren't set up for birds could you give me some tips, tell me how you think he looks? " (me) "if I do than I would have to charge you 100 dollars" (her) Seriously? I left! Apparently they are the only place to go if your bird "breaks a beak". In other words, they are only interested if they can bilk you for thousands of dollars. Thankfully my conure and i got help at another hospital! (Shout out to Dr Wayland and Banfield on Willamette) Bird owners I pray you have somewhere thats open on Sundays for sick birdies. If you don't try banfield. Stay away from here.

Emily Cassell

My mother-in-law brought her pup in here for a serious emergency. They kept changing their story about him the entire time he was in their care. He was stable and fine, then he was crashing, then he was ok to go home. They said he had bruised lungs from an x-ray...funny thing is that you can't see bruised lungs in an x-ray. To put the icing on the cake, my mother-in-law didn't have a credit card on her so I used mine for a hold until she could come in and pay cash. They wouldnt even let her see her dog untill there was a card put down. This was on 8/10. A day or 2 later she was able to take her pup home and paid her super expensive vet bill in cash. She paid over the amount due to not having smaller bills and they were still telling her that she owed...even though she overpaid. They finally agreed that she overpaid and they couldn't give her cash back. She now has to wait about 5 business days to receive a check in the mail when she paid cash. They said they would release the hold of over 1300.00 dollars on my card and it should be released in a day or two. Well that was a lie as I had to call them today 8/17 to tell them to release the hold. They blamed it on my bank when I was grilling and questioning them as to why this wasn't done when they said it would be done (it took her less than 10 min to call and get it released which they should have done in the first place when they said it would have been done.) They are money hungry and honestly this place is a joke. I would give ZERO stars to this place if I had the option to. Someone please open another 24 hour emergency vet and run these people out of business!!!

I brought our 14 year old cat, Max, in on Christmas Day eve. He had collapsed. They took him right in and started working with him IMMEDIATELY. Our news was not good and we had to make the decision to put him down. But even before they were able to get that together, he passed away in my arms and I just held him tight wrapped in a blanket and just rocked him and petted him until he was gone. The vet stayed right with us during the final moments. We decided to take him home with us and bury him and make a memorial on our property. They gave us a little casket and everything. We had a funeral for him when we got home and buried him that night. A few days later we received a condolence card from them. How very kind!! He was in such loving hands until the very end. I will eternally be grateful. Max was more than our cat, he was our family.

Veterinary dentist Andrea van de Wetering is amazing. She is a dog whisperer. She is very accessible; she called us back within minutes when we first called the emergency hospital, allowed us to text her photos, and got our dog Hugo in the next day. She took excellent care of him when he needed an emergency root canal and several extractions. Postoperatively, when he developed a rash that we weren’t sure was related to his surgery, she gave us advice on what to do via text on a weekend. I don’t want to advertise that she responds after hours bc I hope she can have a personal life, too - but I really think she does what is best for her patients and doesn’t create unnecessary hurdles to get the job done.

These guys have saved my dog on multiple occasions. He always seems to get very hurt on a weekend and I am thankful the emergency vet is always open. The wait times are never good (4 - 8 hour wait typically) and the prices are a little bit high. But that is what you get when you go to any ER.

Ill keep this short. I trusted this place to heal my dog. They simply hooked him up to fluids and waited 3 days before offering any service. It's line they expected me to tell them how to treat him. They offered no tests up front beyond an xray. By the time they did an ultrasound he needed surgery that he would probably not live through. 3k later he was put to sleep. My own vet said they could have scoped the item out if they had just done that first. I hate this place.

John Montgomery

We were nearly scared off by the negative reviews here and it almost cost us our beloved dog. There were probably 7 or 8 people on staff who did their job extremely well and saved our dogs life. She had to have an emergency surgery in the middle of the night on a busy sunday. (7/8/17) They will always have our utmost gratitude. Don't hesitate to bring your animal here. Edit: the price of our dogs surgery and care was on par with what other vets would have charged.

Sandra Moreno

Do not bring your pets here if you can help it. They care more about which credit card you'll be paying with than the actual well being of your pet. I asked for emailed copies of my cats xrays twice while I was in the office and called 4 times afterwards. Only to receive them after my vet had an angry conversation with them. Took my pet to the vet the next day and found out he had an insane fever, funny that in their "exam" they couldn't see that.

Our dog had to have surgery yesterday at her regular vet. It was an emergency situation, and her vet doesn’t staff their clinic over night so they highly recommended that we transfer her to EVH to be monitored & be given fluids overnight. The staff was very sweet to her, and kind to us. She was well taken care of over night & looked much better when we picked her up the next morning. It was a scary situation for our pup & us, but she was in good hands. They quoted us $318-$548 for her stay depending on her needs, and her bill came in at $328, I was grateful it was on the low end of their estimate. I hope I don’t need emergency care for my pup again, but if I do, I’m glad EVH is available.

Candy Nease

Awesome!! Took care of my baby girl, and was very courteous and prompt

We had been visiting family out of town when my 6 pound toy poodle developed blood tinged diarrhea. During that night she was up every half hour with large amounts of blood being passed. We decided to race back home and get her in to this facility in the event that she had to be kept overnight. It was a Sunday afternoon. On the way in she started vomiting as well. We arrive at EVH and checked in just before 1:00pm. An hour later, I told the reception staff that I was going to take her to the car to see if I could get her to drink some water since she was very dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea that had been occurring for several hours. They told me not to give her anything untIL the doctor saw her. After more than 4 HOURS of waiting, my dog was declining steadily. I watched several other pets come and go, and 4 of those pets left in a box with sobbing parents. I decided to take her home and told the staff I was leaving. I wanted her to be in the comfort of her own home with her family if she was going to pass away. They offered to put her in a room by herself while we waited for the doctor! I told them if she made it through the night I would take her to her Vet first thing in the morning. Her Vet at East Lane Veterinary Hospital got her in first thing the next morning and they immediately gave her IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain meds. She is slowly getting better thanks to the love and care she received from Dr Shelly.

Nice enough staff but ridiculous waiting. I brought in my cat at 3e0 and it's 500 and I'm still in a waiting room!

carly young

These people are amazing! I have been in twice now with my cat and have been amazed at the quality of care and the genuine love of animals expressed by the staff. At all hours of the day or night, these dedicated individuals are alert and happy to help you and your pet.

Tori Cummings

Worst expirence ever. My poor dog is suffering in pain with a slipped disc in her spine cant go up stairs, not eating or drinking. And they refused to put her down so she wont suffer. Im so disappointed i will never go there. I suggest no one does either

CC Sand

I wouldn't go to this place unless it is your only option. They appear to have no sympathy and only care about the money you have. They wanted to charge a ridiculous amount ($300) to cremate my family dog and $50 for the urn which was basically a cheap cookie tin. When they found out we didn't have that kind of money they pretty much told us to get out. We had nowhere to bury or keep our dog so we asked them to at least keep him frozen until we could figure something out and they said sure, for $200 even though they said it'd be free on the phone. At that point I couldn't stop my self from crying, it was the holiday season, I was in the process of moving and had no resources to help my family through this troublesome time. I couldn't stop myself from crying, as soon as I started crying the lady looked around like I was causing a scene and told me she couldn't help if I didn't have the funds to pay for it and walked away. I get she couldn't cut me a deal, it was the businesses policy to have certain outrageous prices for simple procedures. But she didn't need to be so cold to my family and I. A simple bit of sympathy and understanding would have made this difficult process that much easier. Especially since they said on the phone they would hold him for free until we could bring him to Rest Assured Pet Cremation which a much more understanding, affordable place.

This isn’t a review but I would like to know if I could get my cat neutered here and how much would it cost?

Worst service EVER! It was a Sunday morning and my dog cut his paw VERY badly. This was the only vet open near us so we had no choice but to take him here. My dog was bleeding all over their waiting room and they told us there was NOTHING they would do unless they received payment even though they didn't even know what kind of services would be needed! We then got our dog into Banfield where they were able to look him over and told us that my dog was literally bleeding out and was going to die unless we got him into surgery that day. Unfortunately Banfield did not have any surgery spots open that week. The vet at Banfield called over to this emergency vet to see what they could do. We took our dog here yet again and they STILL told us there was NOTHING they could do unless we paid $1200 UPFRONT. AGAIN, my dog was bleeding out in their waiting room and they did NOTHING. The vet tech had to come back and forth several times to talk to us because if the vet came out to talk to us, they were going to charge us $20 EACH TIME, just to TALK TO US! I am so disgusted. I thought people became veterinarians for the love of animals, not money. This vet's advice to us, was to put my dog down. SICK!!!!! Never using this vet nor recommending to anyone, EVER! I hope they close down! How dare they take advantage of people and animals in need in times of emergencies.

Helpme Rhonda

Basically inept staff DON'T listen caused death my dog.

Kim Garrett

Open 24hrs. Friendy staff. Had to Put my cat to sleep. They help me in my time of need. Very $$$$.

Sarah L

Poorest service I have EVER received in my life. Waited for two hours when I took my dog in to see why he was sick. I didn't even see the veterinarian because they took so long. Staff was rude.

MrAshracer

If you feel something is not right, no matter how much education is connected to an individual--leave with your pet. It's a business model based on your fear of losing your pet, combined with guilt and steep charges. If your personal vet has an emergency service, use them--these people never have to see you again--I hope my experience can help you stand up and speak on behalf of your pet. There is no need for social niceties, if you feel it in your bones, don't hesitate to question a practice.

Alanna Risse

I brought my dog here on a Saturday around 5pm and checked in. They gave me absolutely no time estimate on how long a wait it would be. When I inquired later on, they gave me a vague answer of “there are two animals ahead of you”, I told them I was thinking of just driving back to Portland since it was a long drive and getting late and that’s when they finally told me “your drive to Portland would be much faster that your wait here.” The person who checked in me also said a very weird, inappropriate thing to me. Go to another emergency vet! I’m sure Eugene has something better than this.

Julie

Went to the Q Street emergency vet today with our cat who was lethargic and had a large sore on his back leg, prob from a cat fight. At the time we arrived, there was only 1 other person in the waiting room. We filled in all the paper work and told to have a seat. We waited for over 2 hours. During that time, other people came in with their animals who did not appear to be any worse off than our cat. Those animals were immediately taken into the “back” and assessed. We were confused and I asked a front office person and she said “you are being so patient, you will be seen next” Well, we weren’t and finally we left and went to the West 11th emergency vet....

Thank you for taking care of my special longhaired teacup chihuahua Tinkerbell in her passing days. Making sure she was on oxygen, warm with a fresh new blanket, and monitored 24/7 in those last 2 days. They made her paw prints without asking and did a wonderful job at communicating every step of the way during my hard time. I truly appreciate their support the best they could given the circumstances. She was my world and I only wanted the best for her and this company truly gives you their all and the truth no matter what when caring for our loved ones. I see some people mention a price, there is no price on outstanding care. But yes it is spendy; medical care is spendy for emergencies and they are the only company in this area. If you can wait for a regular vet it is recommended as they are very busy and pricey due to these circumstances.

Crystal & Scott McPheeters-Geeting

I brought my dog in with bloody diarrhea & vomiting after seeing our regular vet a few days before. Dr. Takesaka was kind and knowledgeable. She immediately suspected my dog had HGE and admitted her. She saved my dog's life. After 24 hours of IV hydration and care, I was able to bring my dog home. While it was incredibly difficult to leave my dog, I knew she was in the best place she could be. I truly felt they cared about her. When I picked her up the next day, she was definitely on the mend, tail wagging, bright eyed. It was so wonderful to see her feeling better. It was easy to call and talk to a vet if I had questions or just wanted to know how my dog was doing. Discharge instructions were easy to understand and they made sure I knew if any issues returned in 48 hours, I could bring her back for a free reassessment. Luckily, she's doing wonderfully at home and you'd never know she was deathly ill. Hopefully we'll never have to use their services again, but if another emergency arises, I know where to get help.

Mark Williams

If I could give them zero stars i would. This place is awful, my cat has been peeing blood and possibly constipated. We decided to take him to an emergency vet because we thought it would be faster and we wouldn't have to time to wait for his regular vet, which opens at 8 am. We have waited for more than 2 and a half hours and the vetinarian still hasn't come to see my cat. This is a horrible place and we will not ever be coming back. Keep away from this place if you can wait til the morning, this place is absolutley awful.

Heather Long

Understaffed during busy times. Very expensive!

jillian sokoloff

Don't go there go anywhere else took my cat in due to the fact she ate a medicine pill on ground. They had her there for 4 hours couldn't even give her subcutaneous liquids. They were rude and did NOTHING to help my cat. If you ever have an emergency go anywhere but there!!!

Michelle Means

There is one emergency veterinarian clinic in lane county, unfortunately. My dog had seizures for the first time today twice, he is an older dog and he was not treated special in his emergency case. I believe the staff lack professionalism, empathy and overcharge. They may feel we are at their mercy because they are the only emergency option however they are a horrible choice. While there in one day I found dirty bandages on the waiting room floor, spiders crawling all around the seating area. The woman at the front talks personal consent by yelling across the room at the patient instead of call them up, “sir can you pay $700 dollars? Do you give us permission to perform cpr? Those are sensitive questions to throw in-front of the entire lobby. The second time I came in one day after my dog had another seizure I approved the woman at the front to get sanitizer as I had just picked up a bandaid, who knows how long that was there, no eye contact she just say yes. Then I sat down and about 5 minutes later she asked if she could help me, um ma’am you just did. Would have helped if you looked up at me then you would have known that. I give this clinic a big fat F.

Mey Lita

If you love your pet, do not bring it here. They do not care about your pet. They are after the money and they are dismissive. Basically incompetent. Their lack of care puts your pet at risk.

Jessica Chambers

Best place ever to take your pet! Super nice and caring people. Took so much stress off of me when my cat angel needed to be seen!

Matthew Porter

My blood boils when I even momentarily remember how rude the front-facing staff at this location were when I took my cat here months ago for a blocked urinary tract. It is a testament to how poorly this facility is managed that employees who revel in being condescending and genuinely hateful to those at their most vulnerable remain employed long enough for this location to see >50% 1 star reviews. This place only remains in business because there is no alternative for after hours emergency care. Make no mistake though, these scrubs don't hold a candle to the professionals I have worked with at UC Davis. The moment another 24/7 vet hospital opens up this location should go out of business quickly, and I hope its employees are barred from joining the new facility.

After our fit, middle-aged, outdoor cat went missing for 27 hours, then turned up looking catatonic (sorry) and frail under a bush in our yard, seeming not to recognize us, I brought him in (around midnight) to be checked for serious cat-fight or car injuries. The experience was unpleasant in many ways that might be avoidable, and it is my hope that my critique might improve people's experience here. The first negative impression was of the door buzzer. It was way too loud, and put me on edge as I entered the clinic. I don't imagine I'm the only one who finds this noise excessively jarring. I requested to be with my cat during the exam, and was told not while he was having his vitals taken, but that I could during the exam. I was put in an overly-brightly lit exam room, where I sat alone for approximately an hour (I did appreciate the chamomile tea to calm my nerves). But, as it was around 1 a.m., could there be a less bright late-night lighting option for just waiting, and, as it turned out, no exam in the brightly lit room, but a conversation with the vet after she'd done the exam. I did not get to be present for the exam as was promised, and the vet got her initial information from the assistant (I could hear them through the door), so there was definitely a partial disconnect between myself and the vet when I finally did get to see her. Exam and blood work led the vet to conclude my cat didn't have anything life-threatening. No evidence of a fight or other injury. I decided to decline x-rays, but said yes to giving fluids, as the situation was looking stable, and the estimate (with x-rays) had grown to over $800. My cat was taken to the back and I waited another hour for someone to administer some fluids. I'm happy to say the hydration had a profoundly positive affect. While waiting what was now stretching into the middle of the night, I did appreciate the travel channel on the TV in the lobby. I asked to pay my bill, but was told the pain meds hadn't been calculated yet. The receptionist, gave her best guess about how long to wait after the last dose before letting him go outside. I ended up being pressured into purchasing too much painkiller (and an unnecessary narcotic) for our needs, with a curt, "you'll get the amount of meds the vet thinks you should." I would have preferred a non-narcotic option, and a smaller number of doses. After giving him one dose when we got home, I saw him looking loopy the next morning, and decided it was hard to tell what was his "injury" and what was the narcotic medication. Next time I'll try to remember to ask these questions when the vet is present, even if it's 2 a.m.! I'm sure that everyone who works at the Emergency Vet Hospital cares about animals (and somewhat about people, too) or wouldn't be there. I noticed, and appreciated the offer of tea, the help with the touch screen data entry, and the "drive safely" as I left. I don't know why I wasn't allowed to be present when my kitty was examined as promised, and instead waited a very long time alone in an exam room; this was definitely the worst part of my 2-1/2 hour experience. The waste of expensive, excessive medication is also troubling. The long waits at an emergency clinic probably just come with the territory, but tempering the bright lights, and loud buzzer might go along with the travel TV and the tea to support stressed pet companions. Here's to belly rubs!

Bronwyn Watson

They were extremely helpful and got our 10 week kitten back to health. All the staff were nice and understanding, helped us with cost, and genuinely seemed to care about our little cat. It's certainly more expensive than a regular clinic, but that is to be expected.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE ELSE. Drive to Corvallis if it's after hours. This place is a death sentence for your pet. Not only that, they are incredibly unprofessional and have no concern for patient privacy. There was blood all over the ground in the waiting area that they had 0 intention of cleaning up. Can anyone say spread of disease? We waited for hours and watched others come in with pets alive and walk out in cardboard boxes. Oh yeah, and they charge $800 to perform CPR?! Sure, because that's super ethical. Seriously go anywhere else. The VCA Westmoreland takes emergencies until 7pm. After hours will need a half an hour drive to another hospital.

Samantha S

Please do not take your animal here. They don't even deserve the 1 star. We brought in our dog with an emergency and they told us it would be "at least several hours" before someone would even look at her and expressed absolutely no concern for her well being. It was faster to leave and drive all the way to an emergency vet in Corvallis. If you care about your pet don't take them here, they expressed absolutely no concern or care for our pet's life. Edited this to add that the emergency vet we drove to in Corvallis treated our dog right away and said that we saved her life by bringing her in. As others have said it is literally a death sentence to bring your animal in here, they didn't care one bit that our dog was on the brink of death and she likely would have died from a preventable death if we had stayed.

Brandy Fetters

Horrible absolutely Horrible Worst experience . Don’t bring your pet here unless you have to !!!! I had them bring me my pug back to me and ran her to another emergency vet that’s how bad it was A nightmare from hell

Helen Worcester

Great job helping my dog on a Sunday. I spent five hours at your hospital getting my dog looked at, x-rayed, given fluids, meds, etc. while you had many other animals (mostly dogs) that you were also looking after as well. Great job by the doctor explaining exactly what was going on with my dog (he'd gotten into crab shells at the beach) and I was able to take him home and look after him myself. My bill was very reasonable. Thank you so much!

Caitlyn Strasheim

Took my pup to them and we were the only one's there. Was in the waiting room for over an hour and fourty five minutes and nobody came to help, so we decided to leave and they were extremely rude about it. Would not recommend!!

Martin Greig

I read reviews first and was reluctant to call. Turned it for good reason. You can tell this is a cash first, regardless of situation. From a business perspective this makes sense. I am on disability and had a surgery on my dog with a place that said to call the Emergency vet hospital if anything went wrong. Beings I have no cash a very close friend (canine) is likely to die. There was no remorse or options given. Just an explanation of cost and that they have no partnerships with other vets. I would strongly advise against this place as my opinion from reading other reviews and calling them makes it seem as though they will charge for as much as they can regardless of what is best for the animal. Shame on this business.

Linsey Adams

The staff were extremely caring and thoughtful when we had to bring our beloved dog in to be laid to rest. Cannot thank them enough for being so gentle and kind in a terribly difficult and sad situation.

Geneva Karr

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place can be pretty atrocious. The vet who helped us was quite nice and clearly very knowledgeable, but everything else about this place is awful. We got there when there when the place was empty with a cat in critical condition. After about an hour of waiting I asked what was going on, and I got a very rude response about how other animals came in in critical condition. Sure.. but the cat was in an extremely critical condition and needed immediate care. After a couple hours of waiting, we were presented with several thousand dollars’ worth of estimates, no compassion, and no payment plans for grad students who don’t have thousands sitting around in an account. By the time we left, the waiting room was packed with antsy people and animals in crisis that weren’t receiving any help yet. My friend had to empty her bank account and rack up her credit cards trying to save her cat there. We still have no diagnosis, not even a few differential diagnoses, and no idea if he’s going to survive. As many other reviews say, this place is extremely understaffed, lacking in compassion, and ridiculously overpriced for the care they’re able to provide. A friend of mine drove to Portland with her dog in critical condition recently to avoid this place, and I plan to follow suit from now on.

Some room for improvement

My dog got into some trash and ate it. Took her there. After 4 days in an oxygen chamber, they discovered she had pneumonia. Her oxygen number was WAAAAY down. They were TRYING to wean her off of oxygen. Ran around getting her meds because I was there I guess and nobody EVER raised UP her oxygen while TRAPPED in that small container to help her heart which was bad, etc.???? How about the basics?? She was there 4 days, I think about $4000. too and died NOT an easy death... a hard death thanks to their ineptness. FORGOT TO TURN UP her oxygen when saw/guess she might have pneumonia?? AND didn't even after got the results and running around getting her meds? I wasn't sure if I should keep telling these people WHAT to do... had at least once when had her paper mat caught in the door of the "sealed'? chamber. OMG. Keystone Cops.

Alex Turner

If you can wait to see your normal vet then do so. Or if you're able to drive to another emergency vet in a different city. Because unless your animal is literally dying on the spot you will most likely not be seen or charged a stupid amount of money . This place is a filthy cash grab and no compassion for any animals that come in here. Brought my cat in because she had several severe sneezing fits with blood in the discharge and difficulty breathing but I was only told "well she seems stable but we just had another emergency come so you're welcome to wait another 3 hours " this was after waiting for 2 hours already. I can and will be driving to Salem instead as the reviews for the emergency vet aren't all about a bunch of over charging pet killers. The only thing I will say is the vet assistant that was the only one to take a look at my cat was very nice about it and I hope she gets the hell out of that place.

cheryl Clancey

Waited from 8 am until 11 am to be seen. After receiving an estimate on the course of action (money is always first here), the clinic was to proceed with some in-house lab work and x-rays. We were told this would take 1 to 1&1/2 hours, and they would call us. After 2 hours, no call. I called them and they told me it would be another hour or two. After 4 hours of when we saw the vet, she called, though not on the number we had asked them to. Then we drove back to pick up our dog. Vet called us at 3:15, we got here at 4:25(we live out of town), it is now 5:10 and they still are not ready. I would stay away from this place at all costs. It has taken over 9 hours for a 5 minute visit with the Doc, and to have some blood drawn and x-rays taken. Considering the $650 bill for this, you might think they could afford more staff to help process things a little quicker.

sharla gilliam

This one star is more then they deserve! Brout my dog in, 7:45 am, at 8:50 still hadn't seen vet. Wasn't even on site. Only thing that occurred in the first 20 minutes was temperature taken, said slight fever and wanted to make sure I signed paper work. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Emergency Vet, not even close. The tech assistant "thought" it was something it was invested. Meanwhile the vet finally get there, but leaves us in the room. People come in to get their pets from prior night, but we still sit in the room. 8:56 am, still sitting waiting. We can hear laughing in back room, staff members but we wait! Still waiting. Worst experience ever! And still waiting! To top it off, my dog got a scratch or laceration from them where the shaved his neck and gave him a shot. When this has gotten worse, I called today and they denied shaving a spot on his neck and they wanted me to bring him in to be checked, and they want to charge me to look at something THEY DID. dirty shaver? Non sterile environment? I have to take my dog to another vet. DO NOT BRING UPUR PET TO THIS FACILITY

Jo Holly

Our dog got really sick and we rushed him there at 3:00 in the morning. They were wonderful, kind, concerned. The vet gave us options and they were very reasonably priced! So glad they were there when we needed it. Our dog would have been in pain for hours waiting for his regular vet to open. Thank you!

Tammy Holland

Our year old pitbull injured her leg. Probably through playing hard. I dont know yet. We finally found a vet who woukd see her tomortow morning. Shes panting fast and shallow and wimpering almost continuously. So we took her to the emergency hospital. Officecdtaff wew very nice, but we waited in the waiting room for an hour before they told us that they had just got a call on a dog who wasnt breathing so it would be "at LEAST" another hour before they "might"be able to see our girl. We brought her home. Really? We never saw a dr. at all. I get that the otger dog was more urgent, but why did we, and the 2 other dogs who came in after us, never see a dr at all in the hour before he was brought in?

EVH is not a charity, nor subsidized by donations. They are a business, and they have to maintain wages, a facility, inventory and operating costs. I have used EVH several times over the past seven years. They are amazing, professional, kind and communicate very well. I am so grateful they are in our community. Pet insurance costs around $50 a month. It has saved me several times. Animal ER care is an expensive luxury. It's good to have a plan.

Angela Bunish

I have had to take two different kittens within the last few months. The first one got stepped on by an adult. He was okay and we were sent home with pain meds. Then another littermate got bit by our food aggressive dog. She was hurt and not really moving around. I was afraid she had a broken leg. She had mild head trauma. I was sent home with pain meds as well as instructions on what to watch for, when to give meds, also advised to keep kitten in a quiet restful place. Amazingly both times I only paid between 100 and 140 dollars. I have always been treated respectfully and my animals were well cared for by people who are genuinely compassionate. You are very fortunate to have such a place. I'm from another state and I am sure I would have had to have x-rays at the least and would be expected to pay 250.00 and up. I am so glad to have this place in case of emergencies. I'm going to call and see if they have a non-emergency clinic during the day.

Nicole Wyatt

the 1st time I came here i was thrilled after a wild goose chase to find a vet, a rescue or a shelter of some shape or form here in springfield OR I was able to come here and check a dying stray kitten in, they saved his life then sent him to a shelter to be properly adopted. However the day after christmas I came back from vacation to find one of the strays thats lived behind my home was in really bad shape, I took her in thinking they would fix her up but instead they treated me like we were meaningless and worthless they didnt even know what was wrong with her and in the blink of an eye had me sign her existence away, then I had to bring back the body to show her brother and find somewhere to bury it.

The first dog I took here, I was told she needed a $4000 surgery that might not fix her problem so I put her to sleep. She had X-rays and they gave her pain meds. That bill was about $300 & I thought that was reasonable. I took another dog there, she had X-rays and pain meds, but the bill was almost $700. And I was told if she didn't have a $6000 surgery, she would be dead within two days. They sent me home with some pain pills and antibiotics. I took her to her vet a week later, after letting the antibiotics work on her UTI, and they did her surgery & gave me the necessary meds for her for less than $300. Now I have doubts as to whether my other dog had to be put down. I take care of my animals as if they're my kids, but I don't have thousands of dollars up front for their medical bills. Heck, I don't have it for my own medical bills. But had I not been frantic and thinking she was having an emergency; my dog would have been completely taken care of by her regular vet for less than $400 & I wouldn't have gone a week, stressing and crying thinking she was going to die.

This place is horrible! I brought my two friendly well trained pitbulls in, one is 1 and one is 7 weeks, my 7 week old didn't have her shots and all the vets were closed except this one so I asked if she could get emergency shots so she wouldn't get Parvovirus since where I live is overwhelmed with it, they refused to give her shots and told me just to carry her everywhere until I could make an appointment with another vet, my 1 year old has a rash around his mouth and I wanted to get it looked at to know what it was, we came in with his leash on and he was very well behaved sitting next to me until a man sitting close to us started howling at him, he barked once and my fiancé told him no and he stopped and sat quietly, when we got called into the room with the nurse she left briefly to get the prices for him to just get looked at and when barged in, he barked once but then stopped and sat politely. She told us that my dog was aggressive and would need anesthesia which would be 160 dollars, she wouldn't even suggest a mussel, I told her he wasn't aggressive towards anyone, he only barked at the man because he was howling at him and the man even said sorry, my dog never showed aggression towards anyone and how dare she tell me he is aggressive only 2 mins of seeing him, if he wasn't a pitbull she would have reacted differently, dogs bark when they are in a new place or are startled, that doesn't mean they are aggressive, my fiancé and I just walked out. If you want to take your dog here make sure they don't know how to bark, lol or are a pitbull, or are a "dominat breed" because God forbid they bark.

Wish I could say that this place wasn't solely after money, but they are. I had to take my cat here twice after I found puddles of blood on the floor (indoor cat, so no chance that it was anyone/thing else's blood). The second time we had to wait upwards of five hours. I called them beforehand to see if it was something that could wait til the normal vet was available. They told me it was an emergency. They give my cat probiotics and that was it. Don't go here. Drive somewhere else, like everyone is suggesting. It will take less time.

We recently lost our beloved dog of 11 years. Her last night was spent at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. The entire team was professional and caring. They gave honest advice and full disclosure of pricing and next steps. Following her passing they sent two different and meaningful sympathy cards. We couldn't have asked for better service and care for our family member. While I hope we won't need them again, I would not hesitate to use their service.

Four hours we were there. My cat was in need of antibiotics and who knows what else because she was attacked by another animal. She was in severe pain, breathing fast, and we didn’t get in for THREE HOURS. It was hardly a 15minute chat with the doctor who didn’t say anything but prescribe us antibiotics. Then we waited another HOUR for them to put the meds in a bag and sign some paper. WE DID NOT GET THE MEDS and got so tired of it we left.

very intuitive, professional, intelligent and caring staff.

Would like to give NO stars. Our 100-pound husky sustained a terrifying attack from a neighbor's dog, and after going right to the emergency vet, he waited there from 6 pm to 6am without being treated. When I picked him up, he had had a couple of pain injections, but they hadn't even cleaned or irrigated his wounds. It was terrifying to see my healthy, athletic, young animal in shock. I got him to our regular vet when they opened (LOVE Animal Health Associates!) - but he was whimpering in pain, dehydrated because he spent the night preparing for surgery that never happened, and could barely walk. Our vet was shocked at his condition, and worried that because his head wounds had festered for so long, he might lose his ear. He had to be on fluids for five hours before he could withstand surgery, and then they carefully reconstructed our pup's ear. I called the Emergency Vet the next day to discuss matters with their office manager. After some back and forth, we didn't hear anything. We called our credit card company to refuse their charges, and we received a check from EVA. Clearly, they know they failed to provide adequate care for our animal. This community is too large to have only one 24-hour option! Next time, I would take my business to Albany or Corvallis if I had to, rather than risk my furry family members' lives.

I’ve had several poor experiences at this veterinary office. Unfortunately, as the only emergency vet in the area, we’ve been forced to come here several times and each time has been less than satisfactory. We’ve encountered ridiculous wait times (once waited 6+ hrs and ended up leaving because they were continuously unable to give an estimate of when we might be seen), and staff that were rude, apathetic, and lacking in basic compassion (as evidenced by their inability to comfort pet parents in distress and focusing solely on payment). The staff here need to undergo training on how to ease people’s fear and concern for the pet and talk to people with tact and without condescension.

We had to utilize this clinic when our dog was experiencing labor complications in the middle of the night. The first impression I had of the front desk person was unfriendliness, though the vet techs were kind. The whole situation was difficult and while the care our dog received was in the end adequate, there were a few things that in hindsight seemed off, or made me uncomfortable. First, they would not let us see our dog the entire five hours we were there, though I repeatedly asked. I could hear my dog yelping and screaming in pain, yet large amounts of time passed before we were updated. Second, they brought us the puppies that were safely delivered (one puppy was still born) but would not bring out our dog to us until we had paid in full. I was exhausted, as I had been up with my dog all night, and even in my lack of sleep addled mind, I very much left with the impression that our dog was being held back from us intentionally until they knew we could pay. We paid our (high) bill in full and left, grateful that we would never have to return to this place again. Three days later we received a phone call that we needed to either pick up the remains of the still born puppy, or give them our credit card number over the phone to pay for cremation. They even quoted us the "single cremation price" or the 'group cremation price." It was all very tacky. They never mentioned any of this when we were there, they called THREE days after! We live thirty minutes away, we generally plan ahead for trips to the area...yet they called us every single day after this, demanding we pick up the remains immediately, or pay them over the phone to cremate. The general tone was "do this or else," though I have no idea what they think they could actually do as a consequence, if we didn't. When I went to pick up the remains, I was completely ignored, not even acknowledged, by the two front desk ladies for at least twenty minutes, until a vet tech on his way back inside asked if I needed assistance. Long story short: the vet service is ok, the general vibe is money driven, and the customer service is terrible. I very much wish there were more emergency vet options in this area.

Went in with my dog because his eye looked a little messed up and closed. they put him to sleep and cleaned his eye and told me AMPUTATION WAS NEEDED. They told me to take him to my vet so they can explain it to me better. I took him to his regular vet, and they told me it was A PIECE OF GRASS. And this place wanted to remove his eye. DONT EVER COME HERE! YOU ARE WAISTING YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!!!!!!!! They don’t know what they are doing!

Dear Heavens, where to begin? My cat needed to be brought in twice in the same weekend for a urinary blockage , $3500 later, the cat is still not catheterized, and utterly miserable. If it weren't a holiday weekend he wouldn't be there now. It's a cash business and you will never be permitted to forget that fact. The front desk seems utterly burned out, and the back room techs and vets seem completely overwhelmed. I understand that complaining about the fact that too many personnel have the bedside manner of a cockroach is like saying the same of the human ER personnel, but jeez could they try to pretend to care?? Please avoid this place if you possibly can -- there's no love to be found here.

I have a problematic dog that gets into everything—and nearly always at night after our regular vet is closed. This evening she ingested food with a ton of onions. After reading info related to onion toxicity, I opted to take her in rather than attempt to induce vomiting on my own. Everyone was very kind and she was taken back immediately to induce vomiting after she was weighed. The veterinarian on staff was very friendly. They recently introduced a new electronic intake system on iPads, which was a little more time consuming than paper, but perhaps more efficient. I knew going in it wouldn’t be an inexpensive visit ($200+), but in comparison to the feeding tube my cat had two years ago, it wasn’t obscene. This is not my first experience here (trip 3-4 between my pets), but I have always been treated well, as have my pets. I always anticipate a long evening as there are typically emergencies greater than ours, but they have always tried to keep communication going and progress updates as they are able. I think the waits could be less, but overall I appreciate how they keep my vet updated and they are kind and courteous to me.
