I basically visited many local vets and interviewed them for a practice close to what I came from. Berry Hill exceeds my expectations each time I come in. I held off writing this review until our dog passed on, just so I could give a thorough, full, honest review of Berry Hill. This past Friday, my wife and I had to put our 13 year old angel down and I have to say that Berry Hill made everything wonderful to deal with (as much as you can at least, given the circumstances). We started going to Berry Hill for our dog about 3 years ago when we moved to Oregon City, and right off the bat, they helped us diagnose a torn ACL in our pooch. The cost was reasonable and they did the tests immediately. They helped us get a pain management plan together and Dr. Jacobs recommended against surgery saying that an older dog shouldn't go through that. In a situation where she could have gotten more money out of us, she went the compassionate way which we really appreciated. Fast forward to a few months ago and our dog started having some strange issues (drinking 4 bowls of water a day, more accidents in the house, maniacal hunger, etc.) Dr. Jacobs helped walk us through the tests, and we eventually discovered she had Cushings. At 13, Dr. Jacobs told us that there were some medications to try, but basically started to get us ready for the inevitable. We had so many questions over the last few months regarding symptoms to look for in preparation to put our pup down, questions about Cushings in general, etc. Every single time we called, Dr. Jacobs took time out of her night to call us after hours (each call was at least an hour after the clinic closed). Finally, in regards to the euthanasia...they went above and beyond to make sure everything was peaceful. A nice bed and blanket for her to relax on (which she went right towards), and gave her a bowl of treats and water while they gave her the sedative. They were extremely compassionate and professional. They even handled a crazy call from me yesterday wondering if her body had been picked up, etc. While we don't plan on getting another dog for a very long time, if we did, I wouldn't think twice about using Berry Hill again. They are extremely caring, compassionate and understand the unique bond between pet and human. Dr. Jacobs is a fantastic vet and I'd strongly encourage you to use the practice.

I'm a tough sell on Veterinarians as I am active in dog sports and own a pet supply shop, so I need a Vet that is great with my dogs, listens to me, and really knows their stuff. Berry Hill came highly recommended and they have not disappointed! I have only seen Dr. Knoles, but all the Doctors have a good reputation. Dr. Knoles handled my fear-biter expertly, diagnosed my sports dog iliopsoas pull immediately, and respects my knowledge of my own dogs. The costs have been reasonable. I travel 20 miles to see them and have been very happy so far.

Brought our dog in today and a Dr. named Eva immediately zeroed in on her lungs, even though we thought it was something else. The chest x-ray was devastating - pervasive lung cancer, worst she'd seen. I lost my composure and what I found moving was that Eva seemed genuinely upset for us as she referred us on to emergency care. Sadly we had to euthanize the same day but I won't forget that the Berry Hill people listened, the made time to see our dog first thing in the morning, and dealt with devastating news in a highly professional, kind, and humane way. Even though it's a drive, I'll be taking whichever rescue we adopt to Berry Hill Veterinary Center. Thank you, Eva.

We took 2 of our chihuahuas for tooth clean. They are both about 10lb small dogs. When we were picking up our dogs around 6pm, they gave a $1750 bill! I fully understand vets are expensive, and I am willing to pay maybe $200-$300 per dog, I can never imaging a $1750 bill. They did not give us a quote or anything at all before perform the tooth clean. I asked why it is so expensive, the front desk girl said they pulled lots of teeth from our 2 dogs, which caused this bill. I ask why didn't you contact me before doing it, the girl told me she is a student working part time there, she does not know much. She then called a manager and give me the phone to talk to, the manager is rude and told me they performed the service and I have to pay it or will send the bill to COLLECTION! I told the manager they should quote me first for such a high cost, she said I can provide my identity to get some kind of loan for payment plan. I certainly did not agree with that! The manager then told me to give the phone back to the front desk girl, and girl told me their manager will call me next business day. Next business day was Monday, the manager call me in the morning. Said they did call my wife's phone and my wife did not answer, they already drugged our dogs before making phone call, so they just did it anyway. The manager also said they have our signature that we agreed to pay the bill! "We did not sign it" what was my first thought, then the manager started to explain. That is the paper when customer first time walking, THE VET GIVE EVERY NEW CUSTOMER A PIECE OF PAPER IF YOU ARE BRINGING A NEW PET. JUST LIKE IF YOU GO TO A DENTIST OR SEE ANY DOCTOR, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO FILL A INFORMATION SHEETS, TO PROVIDE YOUR BASIC INFORMATION. THE SHEET VET GIVE CUSTOMER TO FILL UP, HAS A TERM THAT YOU AGREE THEY DO WHATEVER THEY BELIEVE IS RIGHT AND CUSTOMER AGREE TO PAY WHATEVER BILL THEY COME UP! I then try to negoticate for a lower price because this invoice is way out of my reach. I suggested $1000, and waving the rest. The manager said she can ask the doctor later to see if it can be waved, but I have to pay this $1000 first before she asked. I told her I only agree if they agree the total is $1000. I was on the full time work, have to go back to job after nearly a hour talking. She said will call me back next day. Next day the manager called me back, said she talked to the owner of the vet. The invoice was originally $3000+, they already gave me a discount, $1750 is a firm bottom price. (WOW, THANK YOU!) The form was signed by my wife when dropping off our dogs, I do not want them send my wife to collection, so I just gave the the credit card. For that $1750, it is more than my mortgage payment. Basically if you bring your pet there, you have pay extra caution for the service your pets need and what cost they gona charge you, otherwise you might get another debt when you walk out later. The doctor is friendly. We drop our dog on Friday morning, picked up in the evening. The doctor called in the weekend to ask about hows our dogs doing. The manager called the next day is a totally different altitude and I am forced to gave up and give them my credit card. I will never EVER go back this place again.

Great unless you have an emergency and need to get in right away. I just moved here from another state and found this vet. I have tried on 2 separate occasions to get my dog seen in an emergency situation after going to an ER at night and both times they have not had any openings. I don't understand why they fill all the appointment and do not save some for ER. On another note when I have had my dog seen there she has tried to bite the assistant twice which is very unlike my dog. So maybe this is the for the best that this has happened. We will be having our records sent to another vet and be done with them.

This vet clinic has been our clinic for many years now, they take wonderful care of all our animals! Would never go anywhere else! We were referred here when we got our pup from the animal store and she was sick. They have helped us through the challenges of being fur-parents, and saved our pups life when she had a reaction to a vaccine years ago. Avoid! Only cares about money. Had a sick dog but was unable to afford a vet bill and wanted to buy an IV to keep dog hydrated. THEY REFUSED TO DO IT WITHOUT EXAMINING THE DOG FOR A FULL FEE AND HAD NO OTHER SUGGESTIONS ASIDE FROM APPLYING FOR A CREDIT CARD. Absolutely no help and didn't care if the dog dies unless I was willing to pay. Greedy doctors are the worst!

Let me start by saying Dr Nolan is amazing! I've had both good and negative experiences with Berryhill. Good first.. most recently, I've taken our dog and cats to see Dr. Nolan. He is very gently with animals, insightful and tries to understand the dynamics of the household to prescribe the best treatment. In the past I took the animals to see another vet there and, to our chagrin, our dog underwent $750 worth of tests and the vet couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. So, I tried VCA.. almost 1/3 more expensive for everything, and came back to Berryhill. Great staff, can get busy. My friend uses Berryhill for her rescue dogs and they can prescribe alternative therapies if you are interested in herbal medicine and accupuncture for your pets.

The doctor that performed my kittens' surgery did a phenominal job. It was the first visit with my 5 month kitten so I was expecting the doctor to impose EVERY vaccination, preventitive care, grooming, and other services that are not necessary. Instead, I received honest and helpful information from him based off my kittens specific living environment and background history. I can't say enough good things about this clinic. I had been going to Jeff Judkins at Hawthorne Vet for a decade and was very sad when he sold his practice. Didn't care for the new team there so went looking for something closer to home. Both Dr. Penny and Dr. Trish do acupuncture and are very open minded about traditional Chinese medicine. They also do chiropractic, which has been very helpful for my older, arthritic dogs. The level of care is absolutely stellar, from the entire staff. I'm probably more high maintenance than most of their clients but I have 6 dogs so I'm there a lot. The combination of Chinese and Western medicine is a great thing and I'm so fortunate to have found this clinic in my neck of the woods.

Berry Hill Vet has always been great with our dogs, and this most recent visit was no exception. One of our Aussies broke a tooth, which needed to be extracted. The staff was very caring and attentive, and provided updates throughout the day. I've got to tell you I don't usually write reviews but this place is the best! We have been to many vets in the Portland metro area and we have a vet that we are very happy with closer to our home. But when Dr. Jacobs and her staff take care of your pet you just feel better that what they say is right and you don't have to worry. Not a believer in acupuncture or chiropractic for pets? We had one vet tell us to take Barney to a neurosurgeon because he suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We decided to try acupuncture first. Barney's gait may not be 100% perfect, but he now runs and jumps and climbs with the best of 'em. All without invasive surgery! Berry Hill is very friendly, very attentive from the time you walk in the door till the time you leave and their rates are reasonable. You don't feel like you have been taken advantage of. They are worth the drive (Sandy to OC). Our dogs love them as much as we do. You can tell they are happy to be there and not so afraid. Plus they have great liver treats for our furry kids. I Can't believe there is a Veterinary Hospital still around that makes personal calls after hours to check the status of patients! The compassion and caring nature of these people at Berry Hills is in-surmountable! I wish I got this much attention to detail with my own physician. We have brought our dear 15 year old cat, Spyka, to Berryhill for a little over 2 years. From UTI infections, deep cleanings/teeth pullings, hypertension, renal failure and cyst removals -- they have been there for us through it all. For a time, I was concerned that my cat was on a downhill trajectory but I think they may have given her an additional 10 years! Dr. Trish and the entire team at Berryhill are compassionate, loving, caring, educated and dedicated. From emails asking for status on Spyka to being able to get us in last minute - I truly appreciate Dr. Trish and this office over the last few years. We are really lucky to live so close to such a wonderful vet center! Thank you Berryhill!

We adore Berry Hill Veterinary Center. All of our dogs have been seen there both for regular visits and emergency situations. From the vets to the front office staff everyone seems to genuinely care for the patients. This was a puppy first visit, and Dr. Trish took the time to go over nutritional needs, preferences on vaccinations and finding out what my needs were for my new friend. I recommend them to anyone ( and everyone)

Dr. Jacobs is amazing. We just had 6 golden retriever puppies, and were in search of a new Vet that was close. We live in Oregon City and were driving all the way to Silverton. We heard good things about Berry Hill, so decided to give them a try. Also, had called around and their prices were the best we found. Well after taking our 6 newborn babies to have their dew claws removed, we are EXTREMLY happy to have found Dr. Jacobs. Her approach to combine Western Medicine with the Chinese is awesome! I can't say enough good about this clinic, all the staff are super nice and they have later hours and are open on Saturday's. This is extremely important! I am confident in giving them 5 stars and would give them more if I could! I would recommend this Clinic to anyone who loves their pet. They will take good care of your precious furry family member!

This is for my experience in 2016 at this place. We took 2 of our chihuahuas for tooth clean. They are both about 10lb small dogs. When we were picking up our dogs around 6pm, they gave a $1750 bill! I fully understand vets are expensive, and I am willing to pay maybe $200-$300 per dog, I can never imaging a $1750 bill. They did not give us a quote or anything at all before perform the tooth clean. I asked why it is so expensive, the front desk girl said they pulled lots of teeth from our 2 dogs, which caused this bill. I ask why didn't you contact me before doing it, the girl told me she is a student working part time there, she does not know much. She then called a manager and give me the phone to talk to, the manager is rude and told me they performed the service and I have to pay it or will send the bill to COLLECTION! I told the manager they should quote me first for such a high cost, she said I can provide my identity to get some kind of loan for payment plan. I certainly did not agree with that! The manager then told me to give the phone back to the front desk girl, and girl told me their manager will call me next business day. Next business day was Monday, the manager call me in the morning. Said they did call my wife's phone and my wife did not answer, they already drugged our dogs before making phone call, so they just did it anyway. The manager also said they have our signature that we agreed to pay the bill! "We did not sign it" what was my first thought, then the manager started to explain. That is the paper when customer first time walking, THE VET GIVE EVERY NEW CUSTOMER A PIECE OF PAPER IF YOU ARE BRINGING A NEW PET. JUST LIKE IF YOU GO TO A DENTIST OR SEE ANY DOCTOR, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO FILL A INFORMATION SHEETS, TO PROVIDE YOUR BASIC INFORMATION. THE SHEET VET GIVE CUSTOMER TO FILL UP, HAS A TERM THAT YOU AGREE THEY DO WHATEVER THEY BELIEVE IS RIGHT AND CUSTOMER AGREE TO PAY WHATEVER BILL THEY COME UP! I then try to negoticate for a lower price because this invoice is way out of my reach. I suggested $1000, and waving the rest. The manager said she can ask the doctor later to see if it can be waved, but I have to pay this $1000 first before she asked. I told her I only agree if they agree the total is $1000. I was on the full time work, have to go back to job after nearly a hour talking. She said will call me back next day. Next day the manager called me back, said she talked to the owner of the vet. The invoice was originally $3000+, they already gave me a discount, $1750 is a firm bottom price. (WOW, THANK YOU!) The form was signed by my wife when dropping off our dogs, I do not want them send my wife to collection, so I just gave the the credit card. For that $1750, it is more than my mortgage payment. Basically if you bring your pet there, you have pay extra caution for the service your pets need and what cost they gona charge you, otherwise you might get another debt when you walk out later. The doctor is friendly. We drop our dog on Friday morning, picked up in the evening. The doctor called in the weekend to ask about hows our dogs doing. The manager called the next day is a totally different altitude and I am forced to gave up and give them my credit card. I will never EVER go back this place again.
