This would be a 5 staar rating if Dr Ferro was still the owner, but since the purchase of his practice by a corporate Vet, it is no longer my opinion. We had been with Barclay Hills for close to 20 years. We called them last week when our dog was violently ill. Retching, puking and in complete misery. They told us that we could bring him in the next day and someone MIGHT be able to look at him. we called another Vet in Oregon City (Milner) and they were able to look at him even though they were busy. turns out he had a twisted stomach and would have died if we had waited ever a few hours longer, let alone waited until the next day. Dr. Milner took him into surgery immediately and our pooch is recovering fine. Needless to say, Milner Veterinarian is my new Vet.

Vets were great, the techs that worked with the dog were great, pricing was great. However, I don't think any clients the entire time we were there got a single friendly word or smile from the person running the front desk. They seemed not just like they didn't want to be there but like they absolutely hated it, and this was the person you interact with the most. Made me reconsider coming back if there's a careless person working in a doctor's office of any kind.

My dogs are just like my kids. My experience with this clinic was mediocre at best. I believe the care of they received was good but the whole The atmosphere was not what you would expect from a top-notch clinic. If I was able to I would advise the clinic to add more lighting improve customer service and at least introduce yourself when you walk in the door to treat a pet.

Rabbit Owners please, PLEASE read! We brought our healthy, 7 month old rabbit in for a neuter on Friday and it died in their care. My kids are heartbroken. I realize these things happen sometimes, but I can’t shake the feeling that they were negligent in some way. I got a different version of his death from the vet and from the vet tech. When I first called to see what time I could pick him up, the vet got on the line and said she just got done performing CPR on him and was unsuccessful. She said the surgery was successful, but some time after, her vet tech called her over because something didn’t seem right. She said she, herself went to perform CPR. An hour later, I called back to get more details but the vet wasn’t available to speak with me. So they put the vet tech on the line. She said that he passed while they were stitching him up and that she was the one who performed CPR on him. Hearing these two different versions of what went wrong doesn’t sit so well with me. Did they keep him warm enough during the procedure? Did they monitor him closely enough? Administer the right doses of the right medications? Did they keep him in a low stress environment up until the procedure? I will never know.

They are very good with all kinds of animals, but it was harder to find a good vet for my bunny and these people are very good and knowledgeable!! Also their prices are really good!!

I've been taking my cats to Barclay for 3 years now. I have had no issues with services or price. And you can usually get an appointment within a day or so. Recently, one of my cats was terminally ill and I had them preform euthanasia on her. There were very compassionate about the whole deal and even mailed a signed card after the ordeal. This is a good clinic and I recommend it to everyone in the area.

Love Dr Doug, but sadly has sold to a vet corporation. Prices have gone up and the new woman vet was not kind or helpful in a very stressful tramatic situation. This was my go to clinic for urgent surgery, especially breeding related issues. The new vet informed me she has no room in her brain for anything to do with reproduction. I will only be going in on days Dr Doug, or his regular lady associate vet is there. The new team will cause many of us regulars to seek care else where. At least Dr Doug will still be there for a year. So sad to see an amazing clinic built on fair prices and loving care is now just another corporate chain

Been going here for over twenty years. Spent thousands of dollars here. Recently bought a pup and took her here for her vaccinations. My pup contracted parvo five days after here last visit to Barclay hills vet. Coincidence? She began to show the typical symptoms. I took her in there and she was diagnosed with parvo. They gave her an antibiotic and sent me home. What? No one should ever attempt to treat parvo at home. After learning that on my own, I called today at 7:45am and asked to have Dr Ferro call me asap. He called me at 5:50pm. Ten minutes before they closed. Told me that my pup should be hospitalized. He waited all day to tell me that? Why? To give my pup a better chance to survive? Our 8 year Boston died in my arms at home from a seizure last month. She now sits in an urn by my bed as a constant reminder I should have sought treatment elsewhere. .. I told Barkley I found her outside once and in my front room once collapsed. She was treated for many things and had many tests. The female assistance in my personal opinion should not be an assistant. The older doctor seemed knowledgeable and should have been treating our dog .....We rushed her up there a few times. There is so much more to this nightmare. Long story short. Our Boston was having seizures and should have been treated for them.... I would Never go here again.

Only in it for the money. I have gone to barclay for YEARS. Paid everything on time in cash or in card in full. The one time I need to do a payment plan they are unwilling to help. They put me on a payment plan for just the visit itself and not the urine samples or the blood tests, or the medication he needs to save his life. My dog is puking, not eating, losing weight, peeing straight blood, and is going unresponsive at times, This all just started today. When I brought him in they said I could be on a payment plan but that they would help me with the blood tests to see what exactly is going on. Once I got to the front desk they told me no and threw the blood out basically. I told them I would have the money by tomorrow when the results were back in and they told me no and that i would have to pay another welness visit fee and then have the blood drawn again and pay for it then. My dog is starting to die they dont care. I have the money right now for the blood tests (sold a old farm truck for 200 bucks for quick cash) and they are closed now, i missed it by 20 min. After we find out whats wrong with my husky Im going to drop that vet and find a REAL vet.

My 2 year old malachi had broken her nail off at her paw and it was hanging and twisted and we didn't have a current vet , we live in the neighborhood and I called first thing in the morning and they were able to see her and fix her all up. Don’t take your pets here!! The vet is nice and seems to care, but everyone else seems very incompetent. They drop the ball, they don’t pass the message along, they’re too busy or incompetent to be thorough. I looked to these people as I would look to my doctor if I was sick. I am supposed to be able to trust the vet, they’re the experts. However, I believe they caused our dog’s premature death by overdosing him with medication. I even called to double check the dose and was reassured, yet our 5 year old mastiff died 8 days into the medication. Find any other vet in Oregon City.

I wish I had read the reviews or known about the change in ownership before I took my dog there today. In the past we were treated kindly but today was different than any other experience we had there. I called earlier today as My dog has mast cell cancer and presented very sick with hives and vomiting they said she needed to be seen and scheduled me for 2:40 but warned me they were booked back to back and I couldn't be late I had to cancel a dental appointment that I took time off work for to make sure I could be there on time, and when I showed up with my dog they said I had NO appointment. They agreed to see her anyway saying "we know you talked to someone because your file is pulled" my dog has cancer, but for some reason they felt they needed to do a uterine ultrasound??? No one smiles and I still don't really have any idea what to do for my dog but they sure were quick when it came to the costs and making sure they took my money. I wish I could go back, read the reviews and take her to a different vet. Edit... I had to put my dog down the next day. I'm not sure if they administered the bolus wrong or what but when she woke she was struggling for breath and gurgling like she was drowning.

I was recommended to Dr. Ferro by my groomer for a knee issue that he specializes in. My pup's patella was not held in place correctly by her ligaments and was constantly dislocating and shifting, making movement and activity uncomfortable for her. Dr. Ferro fixed her right up! Everyone has been so kind, caring, and thorough. Whether we were there for puppy shots, spay, routine exams and vaccinations, or helping a beloved member or the family cross the Rainbow Bridge they have always been so very helpful. They have always returned calls in a timely manner with real help and suggestions. The one regret we have for recently moving out of the area is having to find a new vet.

My cat was misdiagnosed twice within a year there. Doug Ferro after a couple minutes said he was just losing summer weight, no problem. A year later, emaciated and sick, another vet there threw antibiotics at it without a diagnosis. It was now dying in the closet and I TOLD THEM to test for Feline Leukemia, and it was positive but then critically dying. I lost a year of loving my darling cat, while watching it decline and transmitting the virus to my other cats. I will NEVER go back to Barclay. (I will say the receptionist Michelle was sweet and kind and made every visit worthwhile just to chat with her.)

We started going to Barclay Hill Animal Clinic at least 20 years ago. It started when a dog we had got her belly and leg hair tangled in a plastic covered dog tie down, made for dogs. It got caught so tight and was so painful for her and she was so raw in the area that it started to bleed. Thankfully she was not caught in it too long as we always check on her when we let her out with it and usually no more than an hour or two. It was very painful to see her like this and we had no idea who to call, especially it being a weekend day. I called Barclay Hill and within about 1 hour, Dr. Farrell (Spelling?) came out and all ended well. Since this day we have always owned a dog and have always went to Barclay Hill. The staff seem to really care and even though we have seen some staff changes over the years, they still treat our dogs as their own. We are very happy with them and would highly recommend them without hesitation.

Do you love your pets? Don't take them here. You can easily find another veterinary clinic with competent, compassionate employees. Barclay Hills offers sub-par animal care for higher prices than you would pay elsewhere, with an incredibly rude and apathetic attitude to boot. Today, Barclay and Dr. Farro advised me "not to worry" that my dog had gotten into a box of steel wool pads and possibly ingested the steel fibers. The woman on the phone, Michelle, actually had the audacity to laugh at me when I called in to ask for advice. When I asked her what exactly the joke was, she had no answer. I contacted two other vet hospitals in the area, and both recommended an emergency appointment and X-rays, with possible follow-up care (stomach pump and overnight observation) if my dog had steel wool fibers in her stomach. Again, the "staff" at Barclay told me, literally, "not to worry." They didn't ask how long ago the incident had happened, what she had ingested specifically, etc- just dismissed my concern and gave me incredibly dangerous advice, which I luckily didn't listen to. I wound up taking my dog to a VCA on 82nd drive, where they administered an exam, did X-rays, and resolved the issues, all while displaying compassion and competency at the highest level. Barclays Hills is a joke of an animal clinic. Don't waste your time, or worse, put your pets at risk.

A cat found me and asked for help. Infested with fleas and hungry, I fed it till I could get to an open vet. The first vet treated the fleas and wanted me to bring (her) back the following week for rabies vaccination. I had an OFF feeling so when this cat that I intended to keep and love developed rapid breathing I took her to Barclay Hills instead of the first vet. They bothered to do some tests and found serious problems. Unfortunately, the sweet, declawed cat was so old and had cancer, arthritis and lungs full of fluid. She came to me to bring her some peace and rest. I will take any animal I have to these kind, gentle, and knowledgable souls. They have ample staff who are also kind and knowledgeable..

They have made sure to provide me with all information I need to take care of my pets. The prices are very competitive and since I have multiple pets, they have a discount for that. Our previous vet was more concerned about taking our money, Barclay Hills Animal Clinic has helped make sure that I follow the correct procedures for treatment for my pet. They really do care about animals compared to some vet clinics I have visited.

TERRIBLE, EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOOK MY DOG IN FOR A CLEANING AND GOT MUCH MORE THEN THAT. SHE NOW HAS FLEAS AND OF COURSE SPREAD THEM TO MY OTHER TWO DOGS. CALLED BARCLAY HILLS AND THEY DENY THAT SHE GOT THE FLEAS FROM THEM. I HAVE NEVER HAD A FLEA PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE DOGS IN 9 YEARS. AFTER AN EXPENSIVE BILL FROM THE VET I AM STILL INVESTING IN FLEA MEDICATION FOR MY DOGS AND DEALING WITH THIS WITH NO REMORSE FROM BARCLAY HILLS. WHAT A "GREAT EXPERIENCE".
