A++ Great staff. My dog just got a toe amputated and they took exemplary care of her. Very professional. Very talented bunch of women that work there. What one would expect from Ohio State. Definitely met and exceeded all of my possible expectations.
Amazing care for my pup. Could not have asked for more. They didnt even mind that I called in like 5 times to check in during a 24 hour stay.
Looking through the reviews, it appears that most rated negatively due to the pricing. I encourage anyone to look past that, when you need immediate care for your pet. On Sunday afternoon, my husband and I were out of town and noticed extreme swelling and pain in our 12 week old Saint Bernard's face. I called this vet and was overall pleased with the information I was given over the phone. She took our name, our pup's name, contact info, address, etc over the phone so we didn't have to bother with that information when we got there. We informed them that we were two hours away and I would call and notify them when we were ~30 minutes away. When I walked in the door, the receptionist didn't even have to ask my name or my pets name. She knew exactly who we were. She had her team ready to take our pup to the back and be examined. She went over pricing with me over the phone / and when I was checking him in, I paid the $200 deposit and $100 towards my pup's care. What seemed like an eternity (in reality it was truly only a few minutes, but I was scared for my pup's life) they brought me back to an exam room and a wonderful doctor and a student came in to speak with me. They were so nice and calmed my nerves when they delivered the news that our dog has a rare condition. They immediately got him started on antibiotics, steroids, pain killers, and made sure to give him something to hydrate him. They were even able to get his 104 degree fever under control! The vet went through the best care for the price that we could afford before they provided any extra care, to save us from having a vet bill that we could not afford. 3 days later and our sweet Rubble is starting to act like himself again for the first time since Sunday morning. I will 100% bring our pup to this location again if we need any after hours care. They were truly so good to our pup and so kind to my family. 5 out of 5 stars!
Terrible experience. Over 2.5 hour wait, internal miscommunications, one person on the staff was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. Unacceptable. Over $500 bill. Stay away.
It is an emergency care hospital... my cat had an accident on thanksgiving and they are open 24/7/365 !!! And of course it is not cheap... the check in starts at $200!! But dr are great!!!
I cannot speak better of this place. My 4 year old Yorkie was having some issues with choking and gagging. All vet offices were closed on Sunday. We had gone to another emergency vet hospital Sunday morning and it was an awful experience, because it was so chaotic and not welcoming. However, when we walked into this place, it was nice and relaxing. I did not feel overwhelmed and my dog felt safe as well. We waited hardly anytime before we were seen. The vet tech took my dog back to take his vitals. He was so nice and calm. He listened to all of my concerns. The doctor seemed also very knowledgable. She gave me a number of options and suggested the one she thought would be most helpful. I left very pleased with my experience. The very next day, Ian (the vet tech) called to check in. He was able to answer more of my questions. He was extremely patient. Thanks so much OSU Vet Medical Center!!
Thank you all for helping our pup pass on peacefully❤
The people in this place are amazing! Took care of my puppy immediately and showed me that they really care about pets.
Great attentive staff
Super sweet and friendly staff! Wait was much better than main campus...I think this is a hidden gem.
They were empathetic, sympathetic and compassionate. They gave us as much time as we needed saying goodbye to Polly girl and handled her as one of their own.
Very caring staff. I had to put my dog down due to illness. They treat you with kindness and compassion
If you have sick/hurt poochie, Dr. Jones & staff are THE BEST. Our rescue Leftee blew out her ACL + had jacked patella. 8 weeks later after her surgery, she is back to normal. God bless these loving/compassionate ☆☆☆l
Took my dog in when she was having a severe allergic reaction to something. They took her right back to start examining her. They were all very nice and informative. The only reason I did not give all 5 stars is because it is pricey.
We highly recommend OSVMC at Dublin! They have surgically treated one of our Siberian Huskies two times: once for eating a towel he shredded and partially ate when he was 6 months old (partial obstruction) and just recently for TPLO for a torn CCL and meniscus in his knee. For the towel incident, our boy was done with the surgery 2.5 hours after our arrival. Thankfully the towel had just begun to enter his bowel so they were able to remove it from his stomach vs. a bowel resection, and made a full recovery. The surgeon was great, but I have since forgotten his name as this was 5 years ago. For the TPLO, we wanted to make sure that an orthopedic surgeon would be doing the surgery and not a general surgeon since there was meniscus damage involved. Dr. Stephen Jones fit the bill, as he is an orthopedic surgeon with research interest in joints. We are very happy to report that the TPLO was a great success and it is great to see our boy being able to be a husky again without limping or walking on only 3 legs! While he still has a few more weeks of monitored exercising to help strengthen his leg muscles, we are confident he will be back to 100% very soon, all because of Dr. Jones and his expertise! The rest of the staff was polite, professional and accommodating as well! I initially chose the Dublin location over the Columbus location because of how chaotic and crowded the Columbus location could (used to) be; however, they have since did a major renovation at the main campus and it really is awesome, much more calming and peaceful which is a comfort for anxious pet owners. I wouldn't hesitate to go there if the need arose. A big Thank You to Dr. Stephen Jones and the rest of the staff at OSVMC! We are very grateful for the care our boy received at your facility!☺
Good care, but it's expensive
Nice place
Short wait. Knowledgeable. Kind. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
I drove two hours to have knee surgery on my girl. The staff were amazing. They called with any and all updates. I don't get to settle down until late in the evening and I would call to check on her before I went to bed, they never gave me a problem about it, even talking to me just a few hours earlier! They did an amazing job with her surgery, and she healed great and is doing wonderful. Only thing i would recommend is better tasting meds lol it was a huge fight and many tricks to get her to take them! (I know not in osv control but I can't think of anything to change about them)
Wonderful people who truly care about you and your animal. ❤❤❤
Thank you OSU!
I had a very serious emergency with my 12 year old dog. I called for an appointment and they told me to come right in. When I pulled up to the facility they had a valet person there they had a staff helping me to get my dog onto a mobile bed so that they could immediately take him in to the vet on duty. The kindness and attention and detail of the veterinarians and the staff were just outstanding. It is very well run and can accommodate a lot of people with a lot of different types of pets. Including horses. I was very impressed and the cost surprised me that it was less than what I would have paid for my private veterinarian who was not available. I highly recommend Ohio State Veterinary. Top-notch and excellent place to take your pets.
My dog broke her leg and they performed orthopedic surgery to insert a pin down the bone to fix it. Price out the door a little less than $3k. Expect to pay 60% of the low figure estimate on admission, the balance is due on discharge. OSU offers a 9 month payment plan for the last $1000 dollars.
5/1/19 We Took our Chihuahua there , she was suffering from Preclampsia after giving birth. Showing up there around 11 PM, they took her straight back. They came back shortly and said they needed $400 to help her. At the moment we had $300 , they told us that until we had the other $100 , there was nothing they could do for her. Sugar , our pup , was shaking , barely breathing , and very disoriented. Over $100 I could not believe they were gonna ignore her life threatening circumstances, as they called it. After begging and pleading for Sugars life , they decided to help her and allow us to pay the balances within 30 days. We took her home that night and she was back to normal . So 9 days later , she began the same syptoms. We have not had a pay day since last visit. We called them for help. As I read her discharge papers which were different care instructions from what Vet told us , we tried to explain that she just needed the Calcium IV drip again and wanted to see if they could help. We were even offering to pay some of the balance and told them we were 4 days away from payday to pay entire balance , which is 2 weeks less than the agreed time to pay. They were extremely rude , and told us there was nothing they could do to help unless we paid another $350 for the exam plus another $150 for the Calcium and also the balance from before , which we were told 30 days to pay. So the receptionist asked the Vet what options we had. When she got back on the phone , she offered to put our pup to sleep for only $136. ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!!!! They know that she just needed the Calcium IV and that she was nursing 4 pups. Wow where is the heart. Seeing that she was just there collecting new visit money of 350 was uncalled for , since the vets instructions we followed were way different from discharge papers , and we were paying towards our balance upon arrival. Earlier than promised. Couldn't offer 150 IV with no visit fee, but offered to kill her for $136 , with no visit fee. What have people turned into ..... Cold hearted as hell. 150 TO SAVE , 136 TO KILL , BUT ALL BECAUSE OF THE 350 VISIT FEE THEY COULD ONLY KILL HER. SHAME ON THEM FOR THIS. DONT NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE AT ALL. IF ITS CHEAPER TO KILL THEM , THEY WILL.
awesome place helped when needed it for the dog
Safe your money and go to your normal vet in the morning. Charged me 200 and didn't receive any care at all. We took our dog there with a bite wound to the neck. They didnt shave her neck to really look at it, they didnt clean it, they didn't do anything but say yep her neck is hurt. Then wanted 1600 to 2000 to keep her overnight to observe her. Which the down payment was 1050 they wanted on the spot. We only took her there to save from missing the next days work. Didn't receive any antibiotics or pain meds or any medicine. Called a regular vet in the morning, got her in at noon, cost me 149. Two days later she's back to normal. The trip to Columbus cost me a hours drive both ways, $200 and still had to miss the next days work, so a days pay also. I was told i couldn't get a refund because the 200 is just to walk in the door no matter if they didn't do anything. When I got my paper work it said thanks for supporting the Ohio State Universitys Veterinary Clinic lol. Which wouldn't be a bad thing if only i would of gotten anything for my money, except an attempt to get me to give them an additional 2000 to look at her overnight. Save your hard earned money, do yourself a favor and take your pet somewhere their not just looking to turn a simple 149 dollar fix into 2200 + whatever treatment they would have maybe possibly of actually done.
Can I give negative stars?! DO NOT take your pet here if you want them to come home alive! My dog had a torn tendon, and had complications from her surgery and had to be euthanized. They altered the records and changed their story of what happened to her every time we spoke to the vet tech or the doctor. She had a stroke during her surgery, she became blind and deaf, and unable to stand or walk any more. They refuse to take responsibility or liability for their actions. Vet medicine board will be notified of this horrible incident. In addition, they wanted me to relinquish rights to my dog so one of their vet techs could take her home and try to rehab our dog themselves. After 2 weeks of her declining health, we finally picked her up and took her to our regular vet. Our vet said that our dog was absolutely miserable and was not strong enough to live in her condition, and that rehab would not help. We had to end her life way too early, and this was all from them not managing her anesthesia correctly!
Great place
Very informative and kind approach to pet parents. Excellant outcome.
Very kind and compassionate facility. Also, clean!
Amazing services and people!
Great customer service
The staff have gone above and beyond to accommodate and make my puppy feel relaxed.
As hard as it is to put a pet down we were impressed with the thoughtfulness and care of the staff. From Colleen who was extremely detailed over the phone to give us as many options as possible and to lay out the payment details so there were no surprises to the staff who met us at the door with a gurney to the doctor that walked us through the painful process. The staff and emergency doctor were all not only empathetic and understanding but more than accommodating to keep Raven out of any more pain.. not an easy experience but have to say they made it as pleasant as possible. Thank you OSU Vet Emergency Dublin.
Jake went in with very bad bladder infection.....he has CH..... Was taken very good care of him...
Great quick service!!! They know how to treat dogs and their families!
Took my cat in because he was acting very tired and drowsy. They took like $150 just to check his heart rate and offered us something around $1,000 to run the rest of the tests on him. It was evident that he was dieing. I made the mistake of putting him down at that stupid place. I should’ve taken back home where he would’ve passed at home with his family. RIP Teddy.
The Doctor and staff were very compassionate. From a medical care and level of service viewpoint I have no complaints. They were great. What I found disturbing was that the first words out of their mouth was you know we have a 200 dollar exam fee and we are going to charge your credit card 300 dollars in advance. After paying it I asked what would have happened if I didnt have it and was told they would have tried to help me find alternative care. My dog needed immediate care. She was in distress and sadly I ended up losing her that night. The money wasnt an issue for me but I am sure for many it could have been. I understand this is a business but I cannot imagine turning away an animal in dire need because of the owners inability to pay. As a pet owner and animal lover I cannot imagine hearing I'm sorry we cant help your pet because you cant pay.
They were there in our time of need during the July 4th holiday. Excellent staff.
Very caring people , good at there jobs.
Hope you never need them, but great to know they're there.
I took a Golden Retrivor puppy in for an elbow issue...the staff was kind and professional and sweet to the puppy. The vets were amazing and thoughtful and professional If I have a problem in the future i will retire and I will recommend them to others!
They were so wonderful to us and didn't even end up having to charge us for coming in which really helped out. We had to use them one other time and it was a pet that was very I'll and had to be put down and even that experience was good, the staff is friendly, accommodating and kind.
Our 11 month old chocolate lab recently ate a half a bottle of Advil. She spent 5 nights and 6 days with the friendly staff at OSU vet in Dublin. They provided excellent medical care, and kept us in the loop with everything, calling with updates daily. We were very scared and felt pretty guilty about the accident but they were so nice about everything. Our pup is now home and doing well, with no long term problems from her accident!
Excellent doctors and staff. I definstely recommend.
Dr Nye in neurology took great care of my dog Bella after she had a herniated disc. Dr Nye and the students on the staff kept me updated every step of the way and Bella is walking great now.
Couldn't be happier with the care, service and outcome. Our Golden Retriever had total hip replacement surgery performed by Dr. Giillou. We were really nervous about this surgery and rightfully so, it is pretty major. Reggie had his surgery, spent two nights and then came home. After 12 weeks of rehab at home, he is like new. OSU Dublin, the staff and Dr. Giillou were great! Thanks So Much!!...
This is truly want the best places to bring your animals whether it's a big one or a small one from a puppy to a full-grown doggy from a kitty to a cat from a horsey to a pony bring any animal here and it will be more than glad to help you out
They were great with both immediate care and follow up with our pup. I hope we never have to go back, but if we have another issue with our dog we absolutely will not go anywhere else.
I have met with both Dr. Brown and Dr. Guillou and have been so impressed that I actually resent my pets a bit for the medical care they are receiving. The staff is wonderful and although for a standard non ER visit, you might be there awhile, when you get into the room with your pet, you will see why: The vets act as if your pet is their only patient. They do not make you feel rushed or as if you are imposing and they are direct, patient, careful and thorough in their explanations. The cleanliness of the setting and professionalism of the staff are outstanding and the price is not only more affordable than the other 24 hour clinics with which I have dealt, but the costs are explained PRIOR to services. There is no sense of an up-sell--not only in actual cost of services, but also in putting your animal through additional unneeded procedures. I am thrilled to have found this place, not only for my one chronically-ill pet who has been there three times since our first visit three weeks ago, but for the rest of our animals. For surgery, internal medicine issues and emergencies, there are not stars enough to indicate how great my experience was here.
Chihuahua had knee surgery. Wonderful staff. Wonderful results. So caring. The calls after her release from the hospital have been so appreciated!
I couldn't have asked for better care of my terminally ill dog. Thank you to all the techs and vets here that helped my dog and my family through this.
Fantastic staff, great care for our dog.
Absolutely love this place and reommend anyone who needs a surgery on their pets performed, to come here! My sweet baby bear tore her ACL and needed a special surgery because of her size and age. Ohio Sate was a fraction of the price and the only ones willing to help with payments. They were so caring and really catered to us. They also did a great job with our pup!
This is a awesome orthopedic veterinarian hospital
PLEASE AVOID!! This establishment is incompetent with medical care! Our dog had a tendon that needed repaired. After surgery, she was a shell of herself ... had a stroke during surgery and did not tell us until we requested med records. OSU should be APPALLED TO PUT THEIR NAME ON THIS PLACE! I hope I save at least some animals from the terrible fate of euthanasia like we were faced with after there surgical ineptitude! Please do like we are ... spread the word ... save the lives of the ones u love!
Did not give good advice regarding our pet.
Waited over a hour and they just sent us home.
We were traveling over to Dublin to visit some family and were staying at a nearby hotel. One of our Schnauzers got into some cigarette butts on the outside of the hotel, while we were trying to unlock the door. We had no idea, until he started acting really strangely. We began to panic. We looked up on trusty Google a vet nearby. We found the OSU Vet Medical Center. We did not call ahead, because we were so close and went straight there. We arrived at 10AM on Saturday and were greeted right away. Two techs came out and immediately rushed our little guy back to be checked. The paperwork process was a breeze and the lady at the front desk was a delight. They quickly came back to give us updates and ask us questions. Then they took us back into an exam room with our dog, where we met with Dr. Sarah Erwin. She is awesome. She gave us clear detailed information, answered our questions, helped to calm us down and let us know that she thought it was nicotine poisoning. They allowed us to be part of the process and discussed everything very openly. You can imagine our surprise as none of us are smokers. Then we realized where he had found the cigarettes and cigarette butts. They quickly admitted him and started immediate care. We were only at the hospital for about 60 minutes all total, but he had to stay most of the day to get treated. We called back at 2 and got some good news and good updates. We were told to call back around 7 and see how things were progressing. We did so and were delighted to find out that we could come get him. We raced straight over, after having purchased a muzzle to keep him from getting any more unapproved snacks from the hotel grounds. The entire staff at this location is incredible. The techs, Gabi and Sarah are a delight to work with. They are thoughtful and kind. Dr. Erwin is amazing and such a blessing to have met her. There are many other people that I did not catch names for, but they are also wonderful people. There were 7-8 people all caring for us and our little dog. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the great work and extraordinary care for our little guy. We love him and we were not ready to lose him and we really feel blessed to have met you all. You took care of him and all of us. Thanks Kirk
Great doctor and staff .
In an emergency situation they were friendly and informitive.
Fantastic staff. Everyone tries their hardest too.
I would take either of our kitties here in a heartbeat! We had to come in on Saturday night when our kitty was unable to urinate. Sure, it was expensive, but it was definitely an emergency situation, and we needed to act quickly. If you visited a hospital, you wouldn’t expect to pay the co-pay for a regular visit to your doctor, would you? Just wanted to put that out there for those who had rated negatively due to costs. I did hear the staff answer calls, and they were very transparent about the costs just to be seen. Anyhow, we had a very positive experience throughout our cat’s visit. We received multiple phone calls from Saturday night until Monday morning with updates about how our kitty was doing. Dr. DeLauter was really great to work with, and we would definitely choose OSU again in an emergency situation. Thank you for taking such good care of our kitty!
They treated us like family!! Our dog Buckeye was 16 years old and we had to put him down. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye and they treated him like he was family. Thank you to the entire staff for helping us.
I am grateful that their team diagnosed our very ill yorkie. The disappointing part of the experience is their attention to service. I waited for HOURS and I mean hours. The crazy part is that there was a ton of their team an no customers. The price was not out of line for the services performed but again their service is horrible. I was even supposed to get a follow up call the next day......shocking NADA. Sad for such a great extension of the university.
Dog had cut an artery and was bleeding profusely, they were busy and told us to drive to their campus location
If I could give this a zero I would!!! I went to take my puppy who was throwing up blood multiple times to get help. This older lady with short hair was extreamly rude and unprofessional. When I buzzed I got “is it a emergency”... I said yes she took a good couple minutes to walk to the door, when she did open it she looked me up and down and said what’s wrong in a very rude tone I was explaining and she rudely cut me off asking the age of my dog as if she was annoyed and said I’ll have you go to the side door. She then took another good two minutes to get to the side door when she opened it me and my sisters went to walk in and she stopped us took a step out of the door and said it would cost 200 dollars to step through the door... and acted as if I didn’t have the money to pay for their services and told me to go to a government funded place because this was The Ohio state and is a emergency place. Apparently they can determine if it’s an emergency from a front desk lady to look at your dog outside. I gladly paid 600 at a diffent emergency center to have my dog who had pancreatitis cared for. If my dog was on her death bed I would not ever take her there because they are rude discriminatory people. Update: The “front desk lady” turns out to be one of their veterinarians after reasearch her name would be Traci Patnode. After finding that a vet treated me and my puppy in such a way really makes me glad I never let her touch my dog.
My 6 months old German Shepherd puppy had some clumsiness and was seen by 3 other veterinarian before for hip dysphasia. They all said it’s too early to diagnose her with anything but I still had them take X-Rays just to be sure. Still no signs or diagnosis but recommended anti inflammatory supplements. On the day when I took my puppy to this place since its “Ohio State”.... I waited for 20 mins to be taken inside. After explaining what was wrong with my puppy, the nurse was showing face expressions as all the things I was telling her was not at all concerning!! She was not even a bit sympathetic to this 6 months old female German Shepherd while taking her to the back. If you’re going to examine any puppy or adult dog, obviously they won’t be comfortable with you until you’re actually being nice to them duhhh! I let that slide but when the doctor name Stephen tried to examine her and my puppy was in pain so she wasn’t letting him move/expand her legs, my puppy got a bit irritated and started jumping around and on the doctor. The doctor reacted and said “she needs some discipline to learn for sure!!!!” SERIOUSLY DOC?!!! As in animals have no feelings when you’re touching them or they feel pain! It’s your job as a veterinarian to handle such circumstances with calm and professional manner, not give rude comments!!! They treated my puppy as an object that they see/fix and they say goodbye to. I paid the consultation price of $150 (which at any other vet clinic it’s $45-$75) and walked out. To me, if you don’t do your job for the sake of love and affection for animals, then don’t do it. But apparently they are just in for the $$$. I won’t take my puppy to them ever again period
These guys were great treating our Juno. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the receptionist was NOT friendly when we were discharged. The older, taller gray-hair lady when we arrived at 11:00pm was very helpful and the vet was patient and no-nonsense.
Excellent! They discovered our dog had prostate cancer on our first visit after going to another Vet hospital and getting no answers despite spending a lot of $$$$. They did one test and found his cancer. They were professional, knowledgeable and the Dr. even got down on the floor in his good clothes. We had to make the heart wrenching decision to put our dog down a few months later. I could not even begin to tell how wonderful, sympathetic and remarkable they were to us. A first class operation. I will never go anywhere else.
Quick and responsive to helping us solve our dogs issues.
Saved my pooches life twice. One of the best veterinary medical centers in the nation if not the world. Even with the travel expenses it was still more economical to travel to Ohio to get my dog operation there.
Cannot say enough good things about OSU Dublin. Recently came here for my dog to have his failed Lateral Suture surgery redone due to severe infection from another vet. They have become our family. They know who I am when I call and they never leave me without an answer to any question I have. They are compassionate in everything they do from the front desk staff to the orthopedic surgeons. They are the best!!
This is a surgical center, but they are the best.
Great people that really care!
Kind, understanding animal lovers who helped us with compassion on a late holiday evening.
Absolutely Amazing staff !!!! Couldn't have asked for better care for my fur baby.
Excellent veterinary care, excellent service. We highly recommend the Dublin facility and Dct Jones. The facility is extremly clean and well equipped- the staff is personable and involved. Dct Jones is honorable and thorough being involved from start to finish.
We were traveling from NJ to visit family in Ohio. Our little dog became ill so we called my brother-in-law who lives in Dublin where he takes his dog. We went to his vet who then sent us to Ohio State Vet. They were skilled, kind and very professional. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very aggressive cancer and she passed away the next day. We would unreservedly recommend them.
