Able to diagnose a metabolism dietary deficiency issue with my cat that my hometown vet clinic couldn't. Very up front on expenses and only proceed with treatment based on your permission relative to you approval of expenses. Full diagnosis (via a full testing regime) and treatment of ALL injuries, diseases and afflictions (relative to known treatments) is available here. Lowest cost for MRI's (if you need to go this route) for all surrounding STATES. Highly recommend - most courteous, understanding and animal sympathetic staff all around!

They were so kind and professional when we had to put our dog down. They were patient with us and gave us time to say our goodbyes. They were also great when we brought our other dog it. They are so kind and I'm so happy we bring our dog here.

Judith Harrow

Our sweet Buster was not breathing when we arrived . He was taken by gurney back to where they intubated him and then tried to lower his body temperature. He was not going to survive. The staff was so caring and gentle. He had developed an infection that simply overwhelmed him. These wonderful folks allowed him to slip peacefully away . They comforted us and tried to explain what had happened. Thank you OSU vets and staff for being there for all of us. May the Lord bless and keep you as you deal with the trauma of life.

On the evening of November 17, 2018 my 10 year old German Shepherd, Cayman, and I were in town visiting my brother, we ended up at OSU because Cayman was bloated, they met us at the door very friendly but very concerned. They we very adamant about getting him back ASAP. Their concerns were correct and he was quickly diagnosed via x-ray with GDV also known as "twisted stomach." It couldn't have been more than an hour from the time we walked in the door to the time he was in surgery. Their quick actions saved our dog's life and we could not be more thankful. The surgery went well, it took about 3 hours (which at the time seemed like an eternity). The doctor called after the surgery to update us with the positive news that everything went well. During the pre-surgery scans they did find a mass and took a sample during the surgery to send off. Over the next few days we got updates morning and evening on Cayman's recovery. Overall he progressed well, had a minor set back when he developed pneumonia, but the staff caught it early and had him on IV antibiotics to fight it. All turned out well and we were able to take him home for Thanksgiving, after a long 4 days of recovery in ICU. The staff was outstanding during this entire process. They made us want to continue to drive the almost 4 hours one way to continue with his diagnosis and treatment of the tumor found during the surgery, which did end up as cancer. We made the drive 2 weeks later to have his stitches removed and to meet with the oncology department at OSU. Meeting with them made us feel better about the situation and with the oncology doctor, we made a plan to progress with removing and treating the tumor. We scheduled a CT scan, blood work and other pre-surgery procedures for 2 weeks later, December 19th, with surgery scheduled for the following day. my wife and I made the drive again on the 19th, this however, is where things changed. We met with a different doctor because the original doctor was not working that week. They found he had a minor irregular heartbeat and were concerned. We ended up spending all day doing tests on this "irregular" heartbeat and not doing the test for pre-surgery. They were concerned with the medicine used to sedate him causing issues with his "irregular" heartbeat. Which come to find out would not have affected the surgery taking place. They then wanted to reschedule the surgery for 3 weeks later on Jan 9th. So after another day off of work for both me and my wife and over $800 in tests we were at the exact same spot we were when we walked in.. just pushed back 3 weeks. They then wanted to do general anesthesia for the CT scan and then again the following day for surgery. We both thought that was a lot of heavy anesthesia for a dog of his age. That's when we decided to seek a second opinion, as time off work and the amount of travel was taking a toll on all of us. We ended up finding an internal medicine vet, surgeon, and oncology vet in the town we live in. They were able to get him in much sooner. They were able to an ultrasound the morning of his scheduled surgery with no sedation and he was in surgery that afternoon. We brought him home the following day and he is now recovering well. We are very thankful for the staff at OSU as they did save our boy's life during the emergency situation, and for that we are forever grateful. But after getting what seemed like a run around when returning for the tumor removal, what was our priority and the doctor's priority became obviously different, and that is something which we are still paying for.

deb apthorp

Have helped us so much and so often

Ashley Fagan

Very rude staff that doesn't seem to care about the welfare of your pet. Found emergency care elsewhere.

Adena Gwirtz

They saved my dog, when no one else would attempt to. Poor Willow was hit by a car, after two days of being turned down by other hospitals, OSU stepped up and helped me in our time of need. Very caring to everyone I saw come in. Willing to work with you <3

Steven Master

They take excellent care of our dog and all animals! We are so lucky to have this gem in our community!

Tala Kanani

Visited for a Thermal burn on my pup that happened after surgery at our local vet. Helpful staff, front desk seemed a bit flustered but genuinely careed for the well being of my pup. Thorough evaluation, price is reasonable. If we have any more emergencies we will return.

Cassidy Behnfeldt

They have cute dogs.

Marco Pickenpaugh

Just wanted to say without them I would have lost my friend bingo

Amy Graff

They took EXCELLENT care of my rescue Llama! We drove 7 hours for them to treat him... and wouldnt hesitate to do it again!

Don Bigfoot

We have been there 3 times now with our 4 year old Labrador and found the Doctors are knowledgable and polite, professional and very skilled. They are not in it for the money, and their services are by far better than the ordinary Vet. Thank you for all you do!

Shirley Santillan

Should have done a toxic test on her I am losing her bad

K DePew

Always thorough, helpful, and reasonable on fees for farm animal care.

William Adams

The front desk lady named Carrie is EXTREMELY RUDE. She is helpless and seems like hate everything she is doing. Here are the conversations with her every time we called. Me “Can I rescheduled my appointment?” Carrie: “No” Me: “So what to do if I wanna reschedule my appointment” Carrie: “ I don’t know” Me: “Is any other time that I can reschedule my appointment?” Carrie: “No” Me: “Can I cancel my appointment?” Carrie: “You should call technical department, not me” Me: “Can I check when is my appointment?” Carrie: “Hold on.” Then after waiting 10 minutes silence she hanged up the phone.

Kristal Ridinger

This palce is a helpful place to be at

Wendy D

Kind and Knowledgeable Staff and Doctors. I am forever grateful for the kindness and care they took with my Scottish Terrier. He continues to go to them, as they are the best. I took my Scotty Boy there for orthopedics, and they are helping him.

Jeff Watson

Took our sick cat there at 5am. The staff were great. Very knowledgeable about kidney disease.

Amanda

I was blown away by the staff at the OSU vet hospital. From the moment we drove up and we’re greeted by a volunteer, we felt so comfortable and knew we were in great hands. Zelda received the best care and is home safe and sound. Thank you guys ❤️

Angela Kalenterides-Keefer

I drove 2 1/2 hours to get my dog the help she needed and I couldn't be more happy! They are amazing here. Very helpful and very informative. They didn't want to do the surgery because if they did she would lose sight in her eye, with the meds she believes she's got hope! I highly recommend this place to everyone! It's pretty much the Cleveland Clinic for Animals! So incredibly thankful!!!! ❤️

Jason Jacks

Caring staff & Student Veternarians. Went here as a last ditch effort to try a Procedure our local Vet doesn't offer. Our 10 year old Tabby received a radioactive dose to correct a Thyroid issue that had it gone untreated would likely have shortened his expected life-span considerably. Happy to Report he's doing So Much Better! A valued companion & life saved

Lisa Justi

The staff shows a genuine concern for your pet

Lord Tim Roshetko

Very high quality veterinary care.

Laura Atkinson

Gone down hill since they spent all the money fixing it up. They care more about getting as much money as they can than caring for animals. Horrible experience withy kitty.

LJ lee

OSU isnt cheap, but I felt like my fur babies were in good hands while I was there and the customer service was excellent

Emily Vargas

When I made the extremely difficult decision to euthanize my beloved older cat, the staff at the OSU vet were extremely caring, supportive, non-judgmental, and professional. Every detail of the process was well thought out - from the private room to the option to spend as much time with her as we needed before. I do not have the words to say how appreciative I am of the staff and practices of OSU’s vet. Will be taking our other kitten here for years to come. Thank you, OSU.

Debora Hollingsworth

This veterinary clinic is awesome! My dog was diagnosed with cancer. We decided to go here to have them look at our dog and further diagnose the condition. After running numerous tests, they explained to us all of our options. They removed my dogs leg. She is doing just fine! They helped us make the decision to give her a few more years so that she can continue to travel with us. I would refer anyone with an animal to this facility. My girl can now play ball again. Thank you, OSU.

Angela Mariani

Had to put my sick dog to sleep. Couldn't ask for a better place. Very caring and considerate. Very reasonably priced. 24hr facility

Terrance Huff Ii

Staff is great and care about your pets but the cost is outrageous can't afford to have your pet cared for so the only choice you have is take them home and let them suffer or have them put down.

Sharon Honea

Very personable and passionate employees here. You can tell they really care.

Michael & Carla Williams

We had to take our little dog in an emergency and she needed to be euthanized. We had never gone through anything like that before. They were kind, considerate, caring and very nurturing about the whole process. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

John DeSantis

Even though we were there for a sad reason, this place was wonderful. The treated us kindly and with respect in our time of need and presented us with a wonderful memorial of or dog. I highly recommend this place

Sean Speciale

Very compassionate and knowledgeable. Even though they could not help my puppy they took the time to explain why and offered their best course of action I should take. I'm very thankful to them for what they did.

Heather Anderson

we had to put our cat to sleep, the people thete were very supportive and kind

Darian Torrance

We toured the OSU Vet Hospital and saw the many high tech training and animal care areas. I especially was fascinated with the 3D printing of body parts and bones used for training veterinary students. Very impressive!

Terrie Hopkins

Caring and friendly took great care of my pets

Laura Lesueur

I won't take my dog anywhere else. Well worth the price. OSU vets are top notch and beyond amazing to work with. Highly highly recommend!

Jim Matyas

Took my 12 year old dog there for what they discovered to be a cancerous adrenal tumor. They got her through oncology and surgery in days and had her home quicker than expected. Amazing care and my pup in feel great! Thank you, OSU Vet Med Center!

Maddie Blake

They were wonderful during an extremely stressful night. Our dog was shot and they were amazing I'm taking care of her and being conscientious about how much it would cost.

Stephanie McCartt

5 star experience from Dr. Dyce and all of the staff at the animal hospital(front desk, parking, vet. student). We drove 2.5 hours to go here and they did not disappoint. Dr. Dyce is very thorough and I feel very confident that we are in the absolute best hands. Our local vet told us our pup had severe hip dysplasia and would likely need a total hip ASAP. Dr. Dyce answered all of our questions, explained the severity of her condition and ultimately helped us come up with the best and most appropriate way to manage her, which does not involve surgery at this time. Scheduling here was faster than getting in with an ortho doctor in Toledo-Thank you Kim for helping schedule us so fast! If you're thinking of seeing orthopedics at OSU GO for it!

appycowgrl

Took awesome care of our friend's horse

Hannah Robertson

Fantastic service, cheap and very efficient! Everyone is always so pleasant when we go in no matter what for!

Eddie Mash

This is where I go for non-basic , specialist

Laura Paas

Very kind and compassionate staff. I was there to help my faithful friend Buster to Rainbow Bridge and I couldn't have asked for more kindness while making such an agonizing decision. They've cared for my other pets and this is the second time I've used their euthanasia services. On both occasions their kindness was exemplary.

debra robichaux

They saved my cat. He was dying from hypoglycemia. They kept him for 2 1/2 days. I would go to them again.

Bruce Soble

Best veterinarian hospital. They saved my loved pet.very concerned staff.go bucks

Pam Mills

I had my standard poodle spayed and had gastropexy surgery done at the same time about 1 1/2 years ago. It was the best hospital experience we've ever had. The doctors and staff were fantastic and they kept me informed several times a day of her three day stay. I've never had that good of patient care in a human hospital. I rave about them all the time.

Erica Harmon

Great place. Took my dog who was very sick and they were very fast to get me in and once seen they were super honest and told me hard truth. He was put down but they were amazing. Gave me time with him and offered great services for his body.

Sarah Buckley

They were very knowledgeable and answered every question. They utilized a white board to put my dogs diagnosis in writing as well as even draw pictures to help explain what's going on. Be prepared to spend a few hours. This is not your normal vet visit. They will do blood work and depending on what you are there for and how cooperative your pet is, they may need to sedate your pet for further testing.

victoria chesney

They did awesome for my pet, they are expensive though it's $300 up front before they even see your pet My cat was having seizures and they were able to save him at that time. He eventually passed though do to his liver failing.

Sharon Reilly

The cleanest animal hospital I've ever seen. Beautiful!

Don Mcintyre

Great service brought our mare back to helthafter a bout with Potomac horse Fever. We wouldhavelosther if not for the care they gave her

jared kerns

The best experience I and my dog have had with a veterinarian, right down to the parking lot attendant. Very friendly, and explained everything very well. Price was a bargain compared to the previous 3 veterinary bills I racked up over same issues with no fix before going.

Virginia Blackston

Friendly and knowledgeable.

Sherri Swabb

OSU Vet ER and Internal Medicine Staff provided an EXTREMELY HIGH LEVEL of care to my dog who they diagnosed with IMPA. I went there on referral my regular vet, and I'm glad I did. The Internal Medicine staff was TOP NOTCH! They kept me involved with all aspects of testing, diagnosis and treatment plans over the two full days my dog was hospitalized. They explained in detail all recommended tests and consults, answered ALL of my questions all while keeping the overall cost in mind. I believe that my dog will come through this disease and be well again - and I really appreciate all the great work that OSU did for him. THANK YOU!!!

Rebecca Collins

Absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable staff/doctors. You can tell they take pride in their fur patients ❤

Heather Rottenberg

They identified my service dog's cancer, after our local vet had run a battery of tests which all came back normal. We were then fortunate to have an amazing team at OSU to help us get Chevy back to good health: a surgeon, a radiation oncologist, and two oncologists who managed chemo treatments and overall care plan. Everyone hopes they'll never have a need for specialty veterinary care like that, but when the need arises, there's simply no substitute for the equipment and expertise available at OSU. I trust them with the dog in whom I trust my life, so that says it all really.

Cynthia Levy

I cannot begin to thank the doctors, students and team for all they did for our dog. She was hit by a car and had terrible injuries. We honestly did not think she would survive. They took such amazing care of her that she is home and recovering nicely. Dr. Zann was superb. His expertise and superb manner made this experience much easier to go through. The students and staff were wonderful as well. Regular calls to update us on her progress made a very difficult situation much more tolerable. Thank you. Thank you. I would highly recommend this hospital for your pets.

Don Leedom

They have been wonderful. Took great care of our grand dog when we needed them. My sincere thanks to all involved.

Justin Q

OSU veterinary told me that If I surrender this sick stray kitten to them then they will kill it because no one is paying for its care. They only care about money. Columbus Humane took it in & is trying to save its life. Columbus humane said I owed them nothing. I made a donation because Columbus humane actually cares.

Judy Thompson

Absolutely awesome - from the parking attendant, to the receptionists, to the techs, students & veterinarians - everyone is attentive & super caring.

Irene Martin

Great service, attentive staff, handicap equipped, takes care of domestic and farm animals, opened 24 hours, much cheaper than Med Vet, but won't accept Care credit.

Gayle Haase

My experience was scary but I truly believe in trust. My standard poodle developed painful ulsers in both of his eyes. Several treatments cured and cleared him completely. My regular vet in Cleveland suggested we seek an ophthalmologist specialist. These guys are very good.

K M Dorgan

So thankful to have this place and their amazing staff- they have literally saved our pets’ lives!

Thag Biswa

It my best place to qorky

Nate Riker

Truly amazing care is given to our dog. They go the extra mile to make sure our pet is taken care of!

stacey coleman

This place is horrible I brought my dog in he was bleeding real bad and very weak and cause I didn't have $300 they told me to go home cause of my money problem and to get some guase. I'll never go back here again

Kyle Kline

Very timely, helpful, and compassionate help with a difficult health situation with our dog. Would return here again for urgent veterinary assistance.

Melisa Greenberg

Dr. Laura is the best! She was great with my babies, Sammy & Jerry! We look forward to going back to her!

Mary Anne Whitonis

If dr Laura Johnson is the type of doctors they allow at their facility, your pet doesn’t have a chance. She is rude, provincial, inconsiderate and heartless! She crucified me because I would not leave the lobby, in fear my dog bettygirl, would die and I wouldn’t get there in time. This happened while she was at u of p in philly. So I slept in my car. She told me I couldn’t talk to staff at the front counter and to sit quietly unless spoken to. And that she would call me in the a.m. when a famous holistic doctor made a recommendation for my dying dog. Heartless, cruel and self-centered! Avoid Ohio vet hospital if they allow such snobs there. I am 60 and have rescued dogs my whole life so this is not my first veterinary encounter! Avoid this doctor at all costs! You are better off at a large referral place like red bank in nj. Don’t let students practice on your beloved pet!!! You wouldn’t treat people you love this way.

Tamara Johnson

Great place! They saved my dog❤

Barbara Ransom

They're very caring and thorough on their treatment of the animals brought there.

marisa catalino

This was by far the best experience I've ever had at an official Ohio State University establishment (and I'm an alum). Called ahead, brought in my dog who had swallowed a small, plush toy. Within a little over an hour, they successfully treated him and we were out the door. Extremely helpful and kind employees, including the Dr., whom came out to the waiting room to speak with us face to face, twice. Some may complain about the price, but for getting excellent emergency care on a Sunday evening, complete with competent and happy staff, plus an enormous, upscale waiting room — $200 is more than fair.

Nichole Buczynski

The vet was very nice and it was not much pricier than my regular vet.

Dominic Marsano

Best animal care anywhere.

Victoria Kononenko

OSU is our regular vet and we have had great experiences with all of their veterinarians. We especially love Dr Shull, she is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She always takes great care of our cat and makes sure to answer all of our questions.

Shawn Everett

Excellent experience at The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital. Took our dog for behavioral issues and the staff is incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable and the facility is amazing. I was in awe of the horse stables for issues with horses. Overall the work these Vets do to help our furry family members is incredible. I highly recommend utilizing the services, especially Dr. Kyle Bohland and his staff - incredible! Thank You!

Russ jr

Best pet hospital ever! Very nice staff. They took really good care of our dog before, during and after surgery. Thank you so much! I wanna give 10 stars lol

Lisa Monark

Very good care although wait time was long for discharge papers and medication. Still very satisfied overall and staff/vet were very friendly and thorough.

Matt Fielding

Nothing but good people and good work.

Fred Robin

They helped save two of my dogs , they are our children thank you so much.Smoky and Roxy thank you too ❣️

Greg Eyerman

Excellent care for your pet! Friendly, caring staff who take a personal interest in each patient (and families).

Kayla Hutchison

DO NOT Take your pet here if love them! This place is all about the money and let your pet die anyway They are very unpefecinal! They let my cat die of dehydration but thankfully they killed her fleas. I ask to see her it took them at least 15 min to take me to her said they needed to clean her up, just long enough to put an Iv in and pretend they was doing something to save her. Said 1000 dollars would get her through the night but didn’t no what morning would bring. Very sad heartless people for saving your animals are not the concern unless you have money. A life doesn’t come with a price! And this place is awful!! They charge for treatment you didn’t even ask for what did flea have to do with a dehydration from a flu? Then put her to sleep after I said no and charge for killing her ! Keep your pets at home if you love them find some place else to go!

Susan Gifford

Top notch hospital for your fur baby! Dr. Weber, Sara and Shelby are very kind and patient with all of your questions.

Shelly Mitchell

Our hearts are broken, we had to put our beloved kitty cat to sleep, her name was Diamond she was very sick. All of OSU staff was understanding and patient with my husband and I. We had a very hard time letting her go. Doctor Brockman, sorry if incorrect on spelling the veterinarian Doctors name. She was very kind, she put our minds at ease as we went through the very human process. Diamond is now an angle in heaven that we will one day meet again.

josh burke

Very caring for your pets , expensive but caring

Jill Mustard

Staff is knowledgeable and kind

Wade

This is the place to go in Columbus for your pet in their time of need. The staff are incredible. Dr. Patel gave me the information I needed to make the right call for my cat. They never make you feel rushed or a burden. OSU maintains their excellence here. Thank you to the staff.

Vickie McGregor

Long wait and very expensive but the care was top notch. I left there with a detailed plan on how I needed to care for my dog. The Dr explained my dog's complex condition in an easy to understand terms

Sally Van Eycke

HUGE facility! Be sure to immediately put your parking pass on your car after you check in inside. CampusParc is relentless and heartless. Huge clean facility. Good for dogs and cats. I giggled at the large animal / farm animal garage door entrance, but that totally makes sense that that is the kind of door they need there. Staff is friendly and understanding. A little less pleased with some surgery on my partner's cat. There was a tooth that was supposed to be extracted but wasn't. But otherwise, the vets there all seem to be really helpful.

luna K

when I tried to make an appointment for my cat, they just hang up my phone call...so bad

Douglas Massey

I've had to take my two dogs here for life saving treatment on several occasions after their primary vet botched treatment. While somewhat pricey, the treatment is top notch and they've always seemed to care very much about my dogs. I would give them 5 stars except due to their price. They are probably more expensive than your primary vet, but not anywhere near as expensive as somewhere like MedVet.

kyle scholl

Found a kitten that was actively dying they let me surrender the kitten as a good Samaritan but my wife who was distressed over the kitten asked what they did with it and the lady was extremely rude with her. The lady stated since we were giving it up we don't get to receive that information. I hope we saved this kittens life but it would of been really helpful to put my wife's mind at ease. It was unnecessarily rude especially towards someone who was completely in shambles. Honestly it should of been common information and it worries me that it was such a secret.

david gibbs

Dr. V and many others at OSU Vet gave our beagle, Casey a new lease on life. She had herniated disks in her neck and back due to a fall from a recliner. She is now like a puppy again. We highly recommend OSU Vet for all your animals. They care about our pets and realize that our pets are our children and treat them as such. We cannot thank them enough for the wonderful care that they provided Casey.

Duane Weaver

The newly expanded and remodelled hospital is the best around.

Emma Shirley

I have been going here for just over 2 years and honestly, this place is pretty overpriced. You are paying $150 minimum for an osu student to give your dog 1-2 shots. They also quoted me $850 to get my dog spayed, while I got quoted $200 just down the street. Also, their scheduling system is AWFUL, I mean seriously just TERRIBLE. When you call, you are on hold for 10-15 minutes just to get connected to someone who then has to transfer you to someone named “Elaine Marsh,” who literally NEVER picks up her phone. Then, you have to leave a message for Elaine, who takes hours to call you back and you’re screwed if you don’t pick up her call and back to square one. This is the only way you can schedule a regular appointment for your dog/pet. I have always had an average experience here, but any other vet in Columbus would be just as good (probably doesn’t have students give your dogs shots either) and can pick up the phone right away like a normal business.

crystal stock

Very compassionate staff

Lyndsay Biehl

Amazing doctors, staff and students. We are so grateful for their care of our sweet girl.

Chanelle Santana

We just moved to Ohio and while walking our dog on a leash around the neighborhood our dog was attacked by another dog who had escaped its yard. I quickly did an emergency vet care search and found Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital. I gave them a call and they were very helpful and calm on the phone. I’ve seen some of the negative reviews talk about this place being expensive, but it is equivalent of a human ER but for your fur baby. Medical emergencies are never cheap but they are saving your loved ones life, you can’t put a price in that. Also, (maybe this is a new change due to the negative $ reviews) but they made it very clear over the phone that upon walking in we would be “charged” $300. $150 is for the walk -in and diagnoses etc and the other $150 will either go towards the price of treatment or you will get it back if it is not needed. Upon our arrival they immediately recognized us from my description on the phone and they met us at the door. My husband filled out the paper work while a vet tech introduced herself to me and Axel (our dog). Through the whole night they kept us updated with our dogs status. We were there from 8pm-3am. The reason it took so long was because they wanted to use the minimum amount of anesthesia to be safe for our pup which I greatly appreciated. (Unfortunately our pup did not want to go to sleep and fought the anesthesia for a long time lol he’s a tough cookie). But once they safely had him sleeping the surgery went pretty quick. Once Axel was starting to wake up he became very panicked so they offered to bring him out to us sooner rather than later so that we could help calm him as he was recovering from the anesthesia. The whole time I felt like the entire staff was very helpful and caring. They even took extra time to help get two small bags of ice for my hand and my husbands hand which were swollen from trying to get the attack dog off of ours. Long story short, if you have a pet emergency I highly recommend Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital. Yes, you will initially be charged $300 upon arrival and depending on how severe your pets injury/illness is they aren’t God so there’s no guarantee, but they will do everything possible to save your fur baby and keep you as comfortable and informed as possible through the whole process!

Rhonda Gelstein

Very clean, helpful students and staff, and they are very knowledgeable working with the rescue animals we have. Highly recommend.

jessie Keiffer

I cannot thank the wonderful staff at Ohio state emergency farm animal. These ladies last night came in and took care of my pot belly pig who had been in labor since early morning. They took great care of her and her one surviving piglet. These vets and staff there are AWESOME!!!

Terry Fitzpatrick

Folks from other states, not just Ohio, come here to treat their pets of all types and sizes. Kittens to thoroughbreds. You name it. Anything from treating a sneeze to state of the art oncology cancer treatment. Best of the best. Just ask Copper, he's an OSU alumni!

Dustin Evans

Great experience. A+ staff.

Vivian Mak

They just care about money. Very expensive services, provided by inexperienced students. When the costs were questioned, out of the blue euthanasia was suggested (my cat wasn't in an extreme situation). No diagnostic was provided. They should have different payment options (not everybody has hundreds or even thousands of dollars available for an emergency). They should also have real doctors supervising students. Besides all that, life should be the most important, not cash.

Kit Kat

High Tech, large, expert care.

Sabrina Picard

The people were so caring and sympathetic during our visit this morning. We had to put our dog/ family member down this morning and they couldn’t have been better. They helped get him in and we had time to say our goodbyes. It was very quick but not rushed. I am so grateful for them during this very hard time. Thank you.

brandon keller

I can’t say enough how impressed I am with OSU. My dog needed a pea sized mass removed from his eye lid and like a lot of people, my dog is my whole world and I was nervous. they understand that at OSU. He needed heart work done before being put under (older boxer) and the drs were with me every step of the way. They call me after the echo to explained what they found and answered all of my questions. They removed the mass no problem and the stitch job was excellent. Now my pup can see fully again! They prepared me for an 1800 dollar bill. I saved up for it and the day of the surgery I paid 800. They are price conscious and will always let you know about the cost up front and will recommend ways to save you money (for example they had me do the pre op blood work at my regular vet to save me 50 bucks) can’t rant enough about this place! You‘re pet is in good hands at OSU vet

kyle Hall

Puy my cat to sleep cost 150 almost though 136 or something

Greg Yarkosky

Friendly and knowledgeable.

Anna Fred Hurst

I have found that these people do not care to help out emergency cases unless you have money. I have a Boston terrier who has had its rectum out three times already. This is the fourth time now that this has happened.I have called seeking advice, medical help and other resources only to be told that they are not able to give out any information about businesses who offer free medical help since they are technically a business. The lady I spoke to was rude, Unconcerned And had a terrible attitude with me the whole phone call.

Chuck Fullen

very caring and helpful.

Perla Medina-Kinne

Love your pet? So do they! We first came as an emergency when our dog Socks had to have an eye removed. He was treated as if he was their own dog. When he died in his sleep I called to cancel an upcoming appointment. Socks had been to the community practice many times. He was a favorite. At his passing two groups of doctors, front desk staff and many others each sent a sympathy card with personal notes. We have a new dog, Ralph, who was a rescue. He is not afraid of going to the clinic. He is very anxious and needs doggie downers to relieve his anxiety. Unfortunately for us, he is smart enough to know when we are hiding his meds regardless of how we try to disguise the pills. A call to the clinic provided new meds which we hope will help us outsmart him Update. Ralph was under the car when it was being backed out, scream let us know he was badly hurt. Took him to OSU next morning, he was seen immediately. Unfortunately, they were not able to operate as the facility was undergoing a deep cleaning. They verified his leg was broken and referred us to Medvet. They called Medvet and let them know the situation and that we were on our way. Even though they couldn't treat him, they wanted the best of care for him. Although he was seen and evaluated they did not charge us. Great folks! They care and show it.

Costly, but very good care.

Christine Rudin

Had cardiology work up for 10 yr old lab. She was treated with kindness and I was kept up to date on her condition and treatment plan. Highly recommend OSU Vet.

Cari Doliana

Everyone was very caring with our baby. He was in a lot of pain and they took great care of him.

Laurie Deerwester

It's been quite some time since having to make a trip to OSU. Was pleasantly surprised since I had not been in since the remodel. Very comfortable atmosphere. Very attentive receptionists. Our dog was immediately taken back to be seen. Good communication. Not cheap, but what vet experience truly is?

Our dog Jax had right knee surgery here 9 weeks ago. Everything went amazing. He has just recently turned 2 years old so it a blessing to see him being able to play again and just be a normal dog. He's never been able to. Thanks to the staff and surgeon here it's basically changed our lives. Dr. Dyce is an amazing veterinary surgeon and comes highly recommended. Dr. Johnson is also wonderful. The detail they give us before the surgery, during the healing process, and at his 8 week post-op visit has been outstanding. In highly recommend this place, their friendly, caring, staff, and all the student's and doctors are just great across the board. Its worth the travel. Pricing for major surgeries is comparable to local places if they even offer it locally in the first place. So, if you have a chance to go here for an important surgeon or emergency situation I would definitely encourage it!

Joel Clark

The doctors here recently performed surgery on my dog for spinal issues. They were the best. Very patient with our questions and concerns. My dog was walking again the very first day after surgery. He's got a few weeks of recovery in front of him but thanks to OSU doctors and staff he will be with us for several more years. If you have a pet that needs serious medical attention, you couldn't pick a better place to go.

Kimberly Mccloud

My little Shih Tzu got crushed under a car lift; she had multiple features to both sides of her pelvis and multiple features to her left leg... The staff and the vet were absolutely wonderful!!! Genuinely Care!!! Thank you so much; she has fully recovered and has full use of her left leg...

Top rate care for critters, and a caring and attentive staff. It is a teaching hospital so students will do a lot of the grunt work, but you can't do much better for veterinary care in Ohio. They are expensive in certain cases, but so is all medical care in this day and age, so don't go blaming the students for that in an emergency. They'd just as soon treat your pet for free as you would take it, but capitalism doesn't work that way.

I had my buddy put down by OSU vets. Excellent experience. Amazing service and world class staff. Highly recommended.

Very good dinner

Top-notch facility for many pigs and other small animals such as goats

Too long of a story to share here, not the level of expertise expected, please don't let your animal have chemotherapy here, too critical of a situation, to have students working on, many mistakes made that my dog payed for in pain and needless suffering. One of my biggest mistakes, so sorry I made that decision. I can't speak to MedVet's oncology, but, they are just as scary; again, long story, had a New year's Day situation because of the side effects of chemotherapy, only place open other than the two mentioned was Diley Hill Emergency in Canal Winchester, so we drove there, they figured out the problem in minutes, we were astounded, these people are amazing, in so many ways. Upon going into the exam room, they brought a blanket and laid it on the floor for him. When he was admitted to the hospital, they wanted to know if we wanted to leave anything with him. For, we had brought a blanket that was comfortable and smelled of us. Everytime we left a blanket at OSU, it was returned folded the same way we left it, I know, small things, but it means a lot and paints the bigger picture of how they operate and care for the patients and family. Health care for humans and animals seem to be in a very bad state, bigger isn't always better.

Amazing staff! Very friendly and supportive

Cindy Farrow

Was going to go here for, in my opinion, an emergency pill dosage. The hours said open 24 hours. When I called, it was for emergencies only. That was not listed on the website. Very frustrated! Ended going to Medvet.

Tami Vance

Loved the Animal Hospital nicest people and Dr and Nurses who absolutely love all animals from the smallest to the biggest. Takes Special people who honestly love their profession and Ohio State University Animal Hospital does.

Lauren Gunning

love them they are the most talented, amazing with animal, there building is clean. There staff is the most experts and can answer any question you and if you don't have any money but your pet is very sick or got hurt they can help you afford the medical bill. They are affordable. If you ask me they are the best. The staff are nice, amazing with animals, and they are experienced people i have ever spoken to.

Ty Montag

Beautiful facility, comfortable waiting area and, most importantly, kind, caring students and docs who understand that our companion animals are part of our family.

Jennifer Pennington

Excellent place for an emergency. The doctors were honest, gave me options, explained the circumstances clearly, and were patient. The staff is kind and helpful. I returned a while after I had left to ask a couple questions. I was treated with respect and promptly, and the doctor came out to talk with me. Also, they are open 24/7. I had called the night before and talked to someone for advice. Great service all around! Expect to pay $120 for simply walking in and then $80 for the exam. This is up-front, and then you pay an additional $100 deposit toward additional services. So, $300 minimum. But, this is an emergency and a hospital. Not bad, I think.

Bonnie Cipollone

While on tour, I met Brutus! The teaching centers are so advanced since my time at OSU.

Donna Ensman

The vet seems really nice and was great at explaining the tests and results and options available. Difficult to get recheck in and staff did not bother to listen to try to help recheck scheduling. Not sure its good to have a pet here if u cant get back in for recheck. I understand lots of animals go here however what is point if itd 1 and done. Appreciated the care of the student and how the dr explained. Even if everything too extra long. Like results of tests.

Jenna Haaser

The staff here are excellent. My dog was seen immediately, and assessed for emergency care. I highly recommend if you are bringing your animal in, CALL before you go. They'll make sure someone is immediately ready to see you, and take care of you and your buddy. The wait time was long, but they took excellent care of my dog. The emergency fee is high, but the actual veterinary care outside of that is relatively affordable.

Giordana Lisken

This place is expensive but it’s good. You get what you pay for. You do have to go through talking with the students until the vet comes but they are good at what they do.

Despite having to make the gut-wrenching decision to put our dog to sleep, my fiance and I had the most positive experience with OSU Emergency Vet and would recommend them to anyone. Very rapidly my dog was unable to walk and was not eating or drinking. I took her to our family vet who was concerned she had a spinal cord injury and recommended OSU. I called and the receptionist immediately answered, was helpful and compassionate. She told me to come right away and that they would meet me outside the front door with a stretcher for my dog. Immediately within pulling up in the car, the kind parking attendant gave us a parking pass and explained that someone would be out shortly to help. Within a few minutes Dr. V (Daniella Vansteenkiste, DVM, neurology) herself came with a stretcher to get my dog. She instructed me to park and wait inside in the lobby while they evaluated her. Once evaluated, Dr. V took me to a consult room and explained all of the potential reasons for the sudden paralysis. She was patient, compassionate and talked through all of the options in a clear way. My fiance could not be there immediately and she was able to talk to him over the phone the explain everything. While we discussed and took our time to process all the information, Dr. V took care of our dog and made sure she was comfortable. Ultimately, our baby was diagnosed with rapid-progressing spinal necrosis that was fatal. We had to make the decision to put her to sleep. Despite this awful and emotional situation, Dr. V and the entire OSU team we interacted were all professional, caring, and patient. No question was too stupid, and we truly felt like Dr. V and her team had our and our dog's best interests in mind. From the receptionist team, to the parking attendant, to the vet students we encountered, every single person at OSU Emergency Vet went above and beyond to make our experience a positive one. We especially want to thank Dr. V. The care we and our dog received were world class and can't thank them enough for helping us through this hard time.

Annette Brown

We have been there 2 times with our 10 yr old huskey mix...they are so helpful♡♡..

Sassmouth Broyles

The staff was very attentive and efficient. Thought senior kitty leg was broke. After sedation (he is a grumpy senior) they examined and found him to be fine. Said it was probably soft tissue and gave us some meds for pain. They were all very empathetic and comforting. Thank you!

Andrea Duncan

Beyond excellent, top-notch research facility which trumps any companion animal care facility in the Midwest The veterananian team along with supportive staff bent over backwards to save my baby’s life after two other veterinarian privately practices overlooked his condition. Miracles happen here, I bear witness to this. If you are in dire hope or dispear, are lost and directionless, bring your beloved companion here and keep hope alive. Call ahead, they will be waiting for you when you arrive. They work miracles ♥️

Cinnamon Salamon

So busy they missed the correct diagnosis for my dog.

Lorrie Lamneck

Wonderful facility, vets are awesome and so knowledgeable. I am glad we are taking our fur baby here.

Herschel Balkin

Personal, professional state of the art caring dedicated care at reasonable rates, offering both scheduled appointments and emergency care.

Chris Sauer

Everyone, absolutely everyone, we dealt with when we took our dog in for an emergency was kind, gracious, caring, and sympathetic to our situation. Collectively, they are the best staff we have ever worked with.

Cait Green

Great referral center. Wonderful community care staff.

Janet Austin

Great advice and knowledge. Very caring. Made a difficult situation tolerable.

Lyrixz Da'loyal

Won't help you if your pet is dying unless you have money. They don't care about the animals just the cash.

Staci Brinker

Dr. Schober and the staff at OSU Veterinariany clinic are wonderful! My 10 year old yorkie had bronchial collapsed and he needed stents and they overnights the stents and did the surgery the next day, kept me updated every step of the way, Dr. Schober made sure I understand that it's 50/50, but that he and his team would do everything they could. Thank you all!! Staci Brinker and family

Eric Gwilym

This place told me to either put my 4 year old German Shepherd mix down or come up with $5000 for a sergury to fix his calapsed lung! I took my dog out of there and took him back to my local vet and asked if she could show me how to deflate his lung. Needless to say we still have our dog 4 years later! No thanks to the pros!

Steven Katz

Took my Beagle in last night around midnight. He ate some rodent repellent that he found in the basement. They checked him out, and also looked at the rodent repellent, and told me it was non-toxic. They said he would be fine and they didn't even charge me to look at him. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Dan Doublecbar Ranch

The greatest place for all your vet needs etc.

Renee Riffle

My dog was seen in the ER on 1/3/19 and had surgery on 1/11/19, I called many times to ask A LOT of questions since this is the first real illness he has had, everyone from the time I checked in (every time I checked in totaling 3) to the doctors, techs, staff and surgeons that dealt with Louie acted with compassion towards him. Dr. Doyle, Dr. McLoughlin and Dr. Collins are amazing at what they do and took the time to explain everything to me in great detail, they understood that Louie is so much more than just a pet to our family and always had his best interest in mind. I will never be able to thank them enough for their time, knowledge, experience and caring attitude to give Louie a normal life and a lot more years to enjoy. If you want the best of the best- this is the place to go! The photo of Louie is just 2 days after his first bilateral perineal hernia surgery & he is doing great!

Paula Garfield

Great students and staff, excellent care, reasonably priced.

Pam Hutchinson

Thank you OSU Vet Clinic for caring for my 16 year old dog, Cuddles. You made us very comfortable and you were so caring during the process to put our beloved dog down. It is always a hard decision to have to make. Thank you! I would highly recommend this clinic.

Katherine Miller

They are very compassionate

John Miller
