5 stars for Dr Adair and his vet tech! My mini Rex bunny is 13 and a chronic snuffler. I call every other week with questions and concerns. They have never treated me like I was a pest or a neurotic pet parent, which I admit I just may be. Dr. Adair is so kind and caring and that is obvious in the way he handles my bunnies. I started out seeing Dr. Riggs and after a few visits switched to Dr. Adair! I'm so glad I did and so are my bunnies!

I recently took my leopard gecko Taco here because I was worried about her eye it was my first time ever being here and they were the only reptile that that could get me in next day and not two weeks out and I am so glad that I made this appointment because I felt welcome from the second that I walked through the door. The receptionist was so friendly and so helpful and it didn't take long to get called back to the exam room. The vet had such an amazing bedside manner he was super helpful answered every question that I had no matter how stupid it was and really made me feel good about how I take care of my leopard gecko. He was so sweet with her and he really made me feel confident that he was going to do what was best for her. The Veterinary assistants were so sweet and so kind and caring. I seriously can't say enough good things about this place I will recommend it to everybody that I know and I will be taking my dogs here as well in the future their prices are very fair and honestly a lot cheaper than anywhere else that I was quoted.

We were met at the door by a ginger cat named Dude. How can you go wrong? These guys are GOOD! I presently have 8 Chinchillas and 6 cats. The Barberton Exotic Vet Clinic is thorough, kind, helpful and most of all Dr. Doolittle resides there and is fluent in numerous pet languages! But seriously, if you have an exotic pet, you already know the cost of care is steep, however having peace of mind is a luxury money cannot buy. The Barberton Exotic Vet Clinic sells peace of mind. Go there!

We bought a 2 month old rat from an exotic pet store and four days later she was very sick and gasping for air. We took her to the Emergency Vet in Akron & they had her brought to Baberton Vet Clinic, they pretty much saved her life & we are so grateful for all they did for her. They took such great care of her & would keep us updated on her condition. My young daughter was finally at ease that her buddy was being taken care of. Upon picking her up everyone was friendly and helpful, we will definitely reccomend them to other exotic pet owners.

Dr. Riggs did surgery on our Umbrella Cockatoo, Peanut. She is our baby! He knew exactly what she needed for her prolapsed vent. I can't say enough to tell how happy we are with the service and treatment we received at Barberton Veterinary Clinic, from Dr. Riggs, and staff! Thank you so very much!!!

Yesterday was my first experience with BVC, as my leopard gecko Mr.Mana was feeling under the weather. My poor Leo had an absolutely awful shed which left him with wounds on his tail, he would not eat and he was drinking a ton of water. I called another vet clinic which couldn’t get me in until next week, long story short I was recommended this as another option. They were able to get me in the next day! Which gave me a lot of relief! The clinic itself has a small waiting room and the secretary was extremely nice and welcoming! The rooms are spacious and are welcoming, the vet tech was probably the nicest person ever!. Dr.Riggs made my mom and I feel comfortable, even making us laugh since my Leo is on the pudgy side. He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable,he even went through what we should do moving forward, and even looking forward towards the future. After only a day on an anti-inflammatory and milk thistle I can report that he is now eating again!. If you have exotics I highly recommend this place, the prices are reasonable and staff is professional and nice. 10/10 will be bringing my exotics to BVH from now on!

I brought my rescue rats in for mites and aggression issues, and my dog in for allergic reactions. With both visits, Dr. Riggs and the tech who assisted him spoke knowledgeably, kindly, and with understanding when I explained my financial situation. He helped me build a timeline that allowed me to care for my dog and manage my budget responsibly. They're one of the most affordable exotics clinic in this area, but it isn't at the cost of quality care.

These wonderful folks took such amazing care of my lil ferret when she suddenly showed signs of insulinoma. It's easy to be terrified when something like that happens, but this team helped me feel like we can handle it :) Plus, they gave me the most attentive update calls when she had to stay overnight--I could tell the whole staff truly noticed and enjoyed her special personality. We felt right at home here and it's worth the drive!!!!

Ok so the doctor himself is amazing, but GET AN ANSWERING MACHINE!!!!!! They only answer the phone between 8-9 am and even then they seem to just turn it off when they don't feel like it. I love Dr Adair, I really do... But the service I receive over the phone when trying to get a hold of someone makes me want to find another place to go.

I would highly suggest Barberton Veterinary Clinic and their other location in Wadsworth. The vet was extremely knowledgeable about my birds condition and was warm and loving towards her. I truly felt like she receives the best possible care there and they really do care about her well-being by calling and checking up on her.

Would prefer to not leave any stars. I will never recommend this clinic to anyone. Dr. Adair doesn't care about your pet as much as his paycheck. Handled my pet carelessly and injured her eye during surgery (she ended up dying 6 days later). Didn't even own up to it nor have anything to say upon hearing of my pets death. I highly recommend you take your beloved critters elsewhere.

We thought this was the best place for our rabbit, referred from the ER. He passed away. The vet treated a condition he didn't have due to confusing symptoms. Fair. The vet kept saying one of the symptoms didn't fit the case, but also didn't investigate for possible causes using an ultrasound, which other vets have confirmed is the next step. If a rabbit has elevated liver enzymes, can barely move, isn't eating, you look at the liver. A few hours before he died, I received a call that he was improving and they would continue the treatment, with no mention of investigating other causes. Afterward, when I questioned why an ultrasound wasn't done, I was told they were trying to get the rabbit more stable first, despite all experts and literature that claim rabbits are fragile and they must be treated immediately. The vet argued that the ultrasound may not have shown anything, and the rabbit was not in condition for surgery anyway if they had found something. Either a conscious choice was made to not investigate or it never crossed the vet's mind. I honestly don't know which, perhaps a busy schedule and many other patients to see contributed, but that's only an uneducated guess. What I find unacceptable is a lack of regret for not covering all the bases and being told they they did everything right in his treatment, which appears like an unwillingness to learn and improve. Who would say that they wouldn't have wanted to know the cause before an autopsy, when it was a possibility? Perhaps our friend wouldn't have had a chance, but he might have. Be wary and investigate other experts for rabbits.

Very good vet care, especially for birds and exotics.

LaLaLacey & Meeko The Monkey

This is a greedy vet that don't do emergency appts. They keep no slots open for an emergency. They are primate vets but know nothing about them. He yelled at me telling me I was a bad pet owner because I didn't know there was different kind of marmosets and called my marmoset a pygmy marmoset. He is a common marmoset so how dare him yell at me. He told me to use an insufficient uvb light that might have stunted his growth. He told me to use a humidifier and that kept him sick. Every bit of advice he gave me was wrong. Their form of er appts are keeping your primate over night and if you own a primate you know what that could do to them. It's an awful place that knows nothing about primates. Just please don't take your primate here. I assure you there are others in Ohio that will see your pet asap unlike this place. If my pet will be seen overnight why can't I have a time to show up and take him home? How do they know they will even be seen if they have no appts available? They also want 500 per day. I called on a holiday weekend and it was Friday they wanted 2000 just to see my monkey plus keep him 4 days because they are too lazy and greedy to add in an extra appt for emergencies. These people are cold greedy people who use exotic pet owners to their advantage. I would fully recommend the primate vet in Youngstown. My monkey deserves better than someone who knows less than I do and I get yelled at by him for not knowing one thing.

Dr Ben Bedore saw our hedgehog CiCi for a mass on her leg. It was large and near her ankle and I was sure she would be in a lot of pain and discomfort. Well that was this afternoon. She is currently running all over the place and her leg hardly even looks wounded. I am impressed! -Kristie

This clinic has provided excellent care for my guinea pigs. I do a lot of independent research, and I never felt that I knew something the vet didn't or that their advice didn't make sense. The people there are typically polite and helpful as well. The only caveat is that they tend to be quite busy (probably because they do a good job), so it's important to be patient when calling in or when waiting to hear back about less urgent issues.

franklin eubank

want to bring my Buddy Zeke to be helped.

I LOVE the Barberton Exotic Vet Clinic! They are extremely knowledgable, helpful and very kind! I'm never worried about the care my two English Angora Rabbits will receive while they are there. I will always recommend their facility to anyone. They are the BEST!

Sierra Wilson

We drive our guinea pigs over an hour to see Dr. Adair because he is very knowledgeable about guinea pig conditions which is very hard to find and our guinea pigs are like children to us. I always feel like he listens and cares about our pets. I often see many small animal exotics in the waiting room such as rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets and birds. If you have a "pocket pet" or exotic I would recommend checking them out.

Elizabeth Stuczynski

My pet duck died because of something they missed.. had they inspected the mass they saw on the X-ray a little more they would have seen that it wasnt food in his crop and that it was a mass above his heart.. he ultimately died from heart attack from the mass.. also the receptionists are beyond lazy.. I called an asked few times how he was and for couple other reasons an they just never called back an was always in a giant rush to get me off the phone.. overall not satisfied . Spent $2500 for my duck to die.. he’s loved as much as my dog is..

Tammy Tunison

Great Vet!!! I took my ducks to them and the Doctor was wonderful!!!! He new exactly what to do.

A. Harrington

This is a great clinic, especially for exotics. Recently, my turtle had a cloacal prolapse, and I was terrified. The staff and the doctor were very friendly and compassionate. I was able to get an appointment the same day, too! I would definitely recommend this practice for anyone with a reptile exotic. They took very good care of my little Oscar, even on such short notice.

Kristen Day

I highly suggest your front desk assistant answering phones change how she speaks to customers. I called about a service you apparently did not have and got a very rude response and hung up on. Not sure why. I feel that’s very unprofessional.

Heather Zimmerman

He is the greatest vet. He helped my parrot and Im so thankful for all his help.

Our guinea pig, Skoodaloo was taken here when he showed signs of not feeling well. Excellent and caring Doctors and staff! Thank you for everything.

Horrible. I took my dog there almost a year complaining about how my dogs symptoms were getting worse and new symptoms kept arriving. It got to the point to where the dog had to be on severe pain medication to even be able to try to walk around the house. They kept saying that the dog was old and that the dog had osteoporosis and that this was just normal the dog lost 20 pounds in a year and they said that the dog was actually at its normal weight. It got to the point to where we were calling or taking the dog at least once a week to the vet and they still couldn't tell me anything useful I finally decide to take the dog to another doctor which immediately found the problem. because the problem was found later it may be too late to save my dog. I would caution that anybody that wants a new vet or that is going here would find another vet. I feel that they misdiagnosed my dog and they fail to listen to the complaints that we had about the dog.

Dr. Riggs doomed a bird (now my bird) to years of chronic misery and illness because he missed a bad infection of his sinuses several years ago. We could smell the infection and the bird acted and looked sick. How does a certified avian vet miss this? In addition, he hacked this bird's wings so bad he had balance problems until they molted and regrew. His then owner, took the bird in at my insistence, years ago to Dr. Riggs. Dr. Riggs spent about 3 minutes with him (even after we told him we were concerned about an infection.) No lab work, no gram stain, just a quick once over and said he's fine. I expressed concern again and was told he's fine. His owner told me to be quiet. He wasn't my bird at the time so I didn't say anymore. The bird's health was diminishing and the infection smell coming from his nares was apparent to anyone that held him. The owner, who knew nothing about birds, refused to spend anymore money for a second opinion since Dr. Riggs was certified avian vet and he said he was fine. Two more years passed and the bird did nothing but scream as the infection progressed and likely was causing pain. Finally, the poor bird became so ill and weak his owner thought he was going to die so he gave him to me. I have over 40 years of experience with birds so he thought I might save him. Years of $$$, other bird vets, treatments, nare flushings, nebulizing, medicating, so many antibiotics that they no longer work, at least a dozen near death incidents and dealing with a sick bird. I was told the infection went on too long and caused permanent damage and weakened his immune system. I curse this doctor every day for the unnecessary, avoidable, lifetime of misery this sweet bird has to endure because he failed him. Go anywhere but to this man!

My baby water dragon is in the back now because she is sick. I live an hour away and they squeezed me in on short notice. Staff is friendly, caring, and very knowledgeable! I appreciate them caring so much I'm a very worried reptile Momma!

Intro to Reefing

I brought my green cheek conure here and it was amazing! Dr. Riggs was very helpful and let us know exactly how to take better care of our bird, we were also there for a wing trim and the entire time everyone was calm and it all went smoothly, best bet ever!

We take our birds to Dr. Riggs for care. One of our birds has an obsession with water and would drink 10 times the amount of his daily dosage. I felt comfortable leaving him with Dr. Riggs and his staff. Griffin was there for the weekend the first time around but we took him back a few months later for observation and more intense testing and he was there for a week. I feel we have a good handle on his problem now and if he needs further treatment we have a game plan. Dr. Riggs called everyday (him, not his staff or secretary) and gave me updates on Griff's diagnosis and plans for treatment along with the days tests results. I recommend him for anyone having birdie issues, he has done great with ours. After Griff came home he still calls and checks on him to be sure his treatment is working.

Anna Woodward

I take my parrots to Dr. Riggs. I find he is very knowledgeable and competent. We drive an hour from our home to his clinic and feel lucky that we are within driving distance. His expertise is a rare find. As someone else mentioned, he calls personally to give me daily updates on my pets when they stay at the clinic. Also, the Vet Techs he has working there and the office lady are competent, thoughtful and kind. I have been to both the Barberton and Wadsworth locations and have had nothing but good experience with Dr Riggs and his team.

It is hard to find a good small animal vet, but this place is amazing! We brought our bunny here and they treated her so well. It was like I was at a real doctor's office (which should be how every vet is, but it is sadly not the case).

KIMBERLY ALLER

When my daughter's ferret had to have emergency surgery they did a great job! She called me everyday with an update and took the time to answer all my questions. They also gave me a very accurate estimate before the procedure which was very helpful. Thank you all so much!

Shannon Bailor

They have always been so good with my rabbits. I always felt comfortable with knowing my babies were in good hands.

Dont care about anything but money, goodbye f ing world

You are NOT a priority if your animal is dying. Kutos to Dr. Riggs who could figure out that my ferret had a rare terminal illness, but that’s all he is good for. There is absolutely no bedside manner, no communication as far as financially or updates about your animal especially when they are staying overnight-so they can get an extra buck. If you took your car in for a big repair, the car shop at least call you before they put on the part so they know they will get paid. This place just does it and takes advantage of your vulnerability of a dying pet. You know it is common decency that when someone dear to you is dying, that you take care when talking with the loved one close to who is dying. I got none of that. This baby of mine was a piece of property to them. This place has no heart at all, but they were sure to bill me. I wonder if my bill would have been less if he had called me the day he was supposed to call me and I pick her up a day earlier because he already knew what was wrong with her the first couple hours he had her. But they will be sure to mooch off of any terminally ill animal and take your money and be heartless about doing it stating they are busy.

The Barberton Veterinary clinic is awesome. They have kind and caring Doctors and staff. My pet was not kept waiting and has even been seen early. Doctors have done all procedures other than surgery during appointment. They even went out of their way to get my pet in for surgery quickly so I would no have a long drive to drop him off again and so he could be home before the weekend. The building is very clean. I have ferrets myself, but I have also seen snakes and birds visiting the vet here. I believe they take cats and dogs as well as all exotic pets.

Very knowledgeable, can call with crazy questions anytime and they are glad to answer them. Has been a great guide since this is our 1st time having an iguana...

I have a major clinic much closer to my home. I drive almost an hour to have my animals treated by Dr. Riggs. Dogs, cats, geese and guinea pigs. Incredible Dr. Wonderful staff!

Took my snake in for a tooth abcess. Doctor Bedore took care of it in not more than an hour, and I really feel like he got the best care possible. Will definitely be bringing all three of my snakes back from now on. First place I've felt was actually knowledgeable about exotics!

Stacy Edelstein

I would highly recommend Barberton vet clinic . From the moment I walked in the door I felt very comfortable my pet would be taken care of . Everyone on staff was caring, sympathetic, knowledgeable and professional. I was updated on my pets condition first thing every morning and when I wanted to talk to the doctor, I got a call back as soon as it was possible. I brought in very ill hedgehog. The doctors figured out what was wrong and took excellent care of her . I am so thankful to everyone who helped with her recovery
