I took my elderly dog here several times, and each time the vet's and assistants were very kind, compassionate, and most importantly informative. Prices were good, maybe even typically a little less than what I expected each time up to and including the end. I just had my old man dog put down here, and, though I mourn his loss, I felt obligated to come on here and write a positive review. They were very understanding, explained the process, sympathized with my pain, and were overall exceptional in their work despite the unpleasant circumstance. Definitely 5/5.

Since moving to Fargo we have taken our pets to Southgate. I feel our animals have been treated well. Prices seem to be very high based on veterinary visits from Grand Forks experiences. Possibly more time should be spent on providing options for treatments suggested. I do feel that I get more attention from my doctor than from my veterinary doctor. Wish that should change.

They were with me through losing my cat, which was an incredibly difficult day for me. The vet and tech who helped me were very compassionate, went over 3 options with me and stayed with me through everything. I'm very thankful I went to them and will definitely bring my future pets there. A week after losing my cat they sent me a card with his paw print in it which was such a thoughtful, beautiful gesture.

My husband and I took our dog here because we found a lump under her chin by her jaw. We had to call 3 times before they answered the phone ; when they answered they did get us in the same day. We had a pretty long wait , when we met the doctor we were presented with a high priced treatment plan. I was not worried about the money but I had an issue when they told we they would see what they would do today bc it's 410 and we close at 530. They did do a few tests and the doctor came back with no information in writing and just starting using very large veteirnarian verbage that the normal pet owner wouldn't know. When I asked for the notes in writing and X-rays before I left I was told we close in 15 minutes so we will just email you that. I demanded I get the two illness they thought it would be in writing the vet tech wrote it down on a sticky note and told me to go pay 364 dollars for what I got done. When I went to pay the woman in front of me was upset and requesting her pets information be moved to a different vet. As a dog mom I think of my dog as family and as my kid. I wish this vet and office would look at it the same. My dog is not dollar signs it's a part of my family. I want my notes and X-rays and the test results u owe me and we won't ever be back.

We have gone to Southgate Veterinary Hospital for almost 7 years now. Our cat underwent two eye surgeries there and she was handled with care and love. We were very impressed by the staff at Southgate and how they know both our animals each time we visit. We just recently had to put our dear, sweet cat Molly to sleep and their staff was amazing! As hard as it was to put our feline friend of 10 years to sleep, they were so sensitive to our time with her, the room was quiet and caring and we couldn't have asked for a better staff during such a difficult time. Thank you Southgate for being so supportive and for helping our 4 legged friends over the years.

I had a very old "senior" cat who passed away at 24yrs old. He had gone blind about 2 years before that and I took him in to be seen. The tech and Dr. Machtell were so compassionate and helped me to know how to take care of a blind cat. My cat had such a strong will to live and be with his family. When he did start to go into heart failure, we took him in to be put to sleep. The staff was SO wonderful and compassionate and cared not just for my cat, but me also. Since then I have a new cat who is a hunter and they have helped me deal with having my first indoor/outdoor cat. They really CARE about me AND my animals!! I am SO glad I found them! - Jeannine

I put my cat a sleep because of cancer the front desk treated me like I was a brother. I asked for my cats collar and leash And she did respond so I asked again. All she did I was wrote something down and said we make sure you will get them when you come and get the ashes. Well I picked up the ashes and and there was no collar or leash. It was the same lady hand me the ashes and I asked where is the collar and leash and she what? I told her that you promised me that you would have the collar and leash here when I came back. So she look by her desk and then left for 10 Min’s and came back there is no collar or leash. Now they will no respond to my email asking about them.

We've used Southgate since another vet knew they used a laser scalpel to remove a tumor from our golden retriever some 11 years ago, giving her a bit more time...she was 16. The last 10 they have been the medical resource for our Alaskan Malamute. They have an excellent staff & sound veterinary treatment.

I've been bringing my 3 cats here for 6 years and I've never once been disappointed. The staff is always friendly and the veterinarians are skilled and friendly as well. The prices are very reasonable too. Even though we've moved from South Fargo to West Fargo I'll continue my care through here because of how amazing this place is.

They are compassionate and listen to your pet concerns. They aren't overly pushy when it comes to treatments that are not urgent which is nice, especially if you don't have the funds at that time. Very friendly staff!

Very unprofessional. Snide. Rude. Say one thing do another. Don't call back till end of day (OR only when you call them)when there is no time to schedule that day if need be. Rare to speak to the vet him/herself. Expensive. Say they will call the next day and don't. Won't give direct answers over the phone aka get the run around. When you ask for med documents to be sent to another vet office because the other site can see you sooner you get a letter from them telling you your account has been marked inactive and pretty much that they won't see your animals anymore.

I took my cat here Roxy for surgery in 2007 services received at that time was absolutely excellent. We recently took our dog (Bear) here in the last month. Our dog was suffering from kidney stones, the person that made Bear's appointment was amazing, our dog means a lot to us, and the pain that he was in was really concerning, the receptionist understood our cares and showed genuine concern in scheduling us as soon as possible and voicing her understanding of our concerns. We received prompt care, we received thorough treatment-- that didn't break the bank, just treatment necessary nothing over the top-- least expensive means of treatment were exercised first. Received treatment outcome directly from veterinarian. Our dog's health was treated with upmost care, questions were answered, and concerns were addressed. Bear is feeling much better thanks to their services. Would highly recommend their services.

I've been going to Southgate vet for years now, since 2006, and I've always been very happy with them. The front desk ladies are friendly and helpful, and the vet care has always been good too. Other than routine checkups and vaccines, my cat was spayed there, and I chose Southgate because they were of the few if not only vets in the area to offer laser surgery, which made her recovery far easier. In all my years and experiences there, I have not once had a problem. They've always seem invested in my animals and treat them with the best care. I'd definitely recommend them.

We are so very grateful to Dr. Talbot and the staff at Southgate Veterinary Hospital. When it became clear to us that our beloved kitty, Princess, was going to pass on from cancer we were able to have more time with her thanks to the incredible palliative care Dr. Talbot and staff provided her. She had many months of comfort and quality family time with us that, we firmly believe, would not have been possible without the very thoughtful and intelligent Dr. Talbot constantly trying to figure out what was best for her and for us. We are so grateful to him and the wonderful support staff at this hospital. We, as her pet family, received the support we needed during a very difficult time. She was well cared for. We will always be grateful.

We brought our kitten here for vaccinations, microchip and neuter. The staff were all very gentle and caring toward our baby. All told, it was rather more expensive than we expected. But well worth it. The waiting area and patient rooms were very clean. Appointment times were respected and we received a call as soon as surgery was complete, letting us know that our pet was recovering nicely. A few hours home, if he is in any pain, it doesn't show. We will definitely be back, and our cat will be a long term patient here. Overall a good experience.

Not from the area but needed to stop in and get a shot to kennel my dog, I have to say though the staff and vet tech really do a great job. Its hard to find people that actually like what they do and care about other peoples pets. If I lived in the area this is where I would take my pets.

Took my dog, Finn, here for a nail trim today. I'm always nervous taking him somewhere new for his nail trim because he HATES getting it done. The receptionists were very helpful and prompt in getting his records from his previous vet. The clinic is very clean and calm in the waiting area. The tech really impressed me with her obvious kindness and patience. She gave me a report once she brought Finn back out to me, she told me he didn't like it very much--which was no surprise--but she did not seem annoyed that he was a difficult patient (which I've experienced at other vets/groomers). Haven't had any interaction with the doctors yet but overall, we had a great experience!

Very good vet clinic. Not they are not an emergency shop so you should schedule an appointment but are very accommodating if you do have an emergency . One thing to note is they only see dogs and cats.

I had great experience with Southgate Veterinary Hospital. Very friedly and accomodating staff. Always able to fit me in for last minute and/or urgent visits. My dog was also spayed tnere and it went very well. Smooth recovery, good pain managment and great suggestions on how to tame the everlasting doggy energy for 2 weeks of recovery.

We love southgate we have been taking our dogs here for the last 3 years and the staff is always so kind an sweet and they have always made sure my dogs were comfortable, for whatever they were getting done. The only issue we have ran into is that they have a lot of clientele so sometimes when we wish we could get in same day it can happen because they are so busy.

I have been taking my dog to Southgate Veterinary Hospital for three years. They have always been very professional and caring. My dog has been in excellent health so I have not needed any speciality services. However, I did have her teeth cleaned last year and was really impressed by the quality of the service and how caring they were of my dog. Everyone has also treated me very kindly and answered any questions I had about my dog. I am happy with Southgate Vet and continue to take my dog to them each year for her annual check-up!
