It is impossible to say how much love I have for the entire Prairie Winds Crew. Both myself and the rescue I represent are forever grateful for the superb care given to us from Dr. Alicia and all.

Only the best for my little furbaby

I'm sure they are fine for routine care of your animals but not when they are gravely ill. I was neither impressed or unimpressed when I took my cat in for her shots, they vet barely spent any time with us (I didn't have Dr. Alicia) the vet tech spent more time getting information than the vet did examining her. My cat got a perfect health score and her shots and we were sent out the door. 3 days later my cat started to vomit, it was a Friday and it was only a few times so I didn't think anything of it. The next day she vomited a total of 26 times, I took her to the e-clinic but couldn't afford their diagnostics so I opted for palliative care (anti nausea meds, fluids and pain meds) to keep her going until I could bring her in to Prairie Winds on Monday. On Monday I brought her in and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything wrong so they opted to keep her overnight on fluids until they could give her an ultrasound the next day. They did not give her anything to stop the vomiting, they did not try to give her any nutrients. All they did was fluids and cleaning up the vomit when she vomited. On Tuesday they did the ultrasound without me present although we had is set up so I could be present, all I got was a call saying she was doing fine but she needed surgery and the base rate for the surgery would be $1200. I had a friend listening in on the conversation who suggested I give Casselton Veterinary a call so I did and their price was much more manageable. I then informed Prairie Winds I would be taking my cat to Casselton and to please send her records and tests over, they excelled in doing that at least. When they brought her out for me to take her she had soiled herself and vomited in the carrier, she also didn't have the strength or energy to move. Once we arrived at Casselton they took her temp and their own x-ray, her temp was 105 (max for a cat is 102.5) and it appeared her bowels had ruptured and her abdominal cavity was infected. Prairie Winds had said she was FINE when I picked her up, no way had her temp gone from normal to 105 in the 40 minutes it took me to get her to Casselton. If I had left my cat at Prairie Winds I'm fairly certain she would have died. Casselton saved her and nursed her back to health and now a month later my baby girl is doing perfectly fine. Thankfully her bowel hadn't ruptured and it was abnormal fluid in her abdominal cavity instead of infection. She had a bacterial infection and cell death in her small intestines and they were so inflamed nothing could pass so she was vomiting everything up. After everything else was ruled out the only probable cause of all this was the vaccines Prairie Winds gave her. Casselton will be giving her her next shots a week apart from each other and with antihistamines to try to prevent this from ever happening again. SUMMARY: Routine care they are fine, my vet was a little lacking in the hospitality realm but if your animal is really sick take them elsewhere (Casselton is really great option if you can drive that far)

Compassionate people who take of our dogs

I have been a patron of Prairie Winds and Dr. Alicia since they opened, but last March, I took my weimariner Tobryn in because he tore the quick from his right front nail. They instructed me to bring him in at 730a (which I did). It was a minor procedure. They did not get to him until 230p in the afternoon. (Let me preface this by saying that I have NEVER kenneled my dogs, which they were aware of....) I started calling late morning and they kept telling me that they hadn't gotten to him yet!! I finally retrieved Tobryn at 330p. Every call I made, I talked to someone different. (I suspect because they knew I was upset.) When I picked Tobryn up, I voiced my displeasure (courteously) to office staff. The usual response was they had other surgeries ahead of him. I am a nurse. I suggested to them that in the future they should prioritize the surgical schedule (like they do in the hospital) and give time options to drop the dog off. It fell on deaf ears. Furthermore, I never received a post-call about my concerns or follow-up. I tried to work through "my issues" and made an appointment for Sept 27th for kennel cough vaccinations. When I got there, I left the dogs in the car and the vet tech came out and asked me to bring my dogs in. I refused. Vet tech said that they can't administer the oral vaccines to Tobryn and Tallyn in the car and have to be brought inside the clinic. Please know that the previous vaccinations they DID administer the vaccines in the car. No issues. Hmmmm!!! At this point, I asked for my records for Tobryn and Tallyn because I was going to change vets. They printed out the records and I left. Did I overreact or was this a learning lesson. Probably both. Whoever reads this review, I want to say that there is major room for improvement and follow-up. Above the door there is a sign that says "Woof spoken here." Obviously, they don't speak German. Would I recommend Prairie Vet for others? You decide.

Excellent care and quality. Very fast workers, while still maintaining professionalism. I've been to other "high end" accredited vet's in town, but never with such satisfaction in quality care, respect, and even pricing. They truely go above and beyond to provide the utmost for your fur-baby! All around a wonderful establishment.

They are nothing short of amazing! They always respond to my questions and concerns promptly, and bend over backwards to ensure our visit is as comfortable for our pet as possible!! Our rescue suffers from severe anxiety and separation anxiety and they have helped him immensely!!

Taking my dog to Prairie Winds is like taking a little kid to McDonald's. He's so excited to see all the wonderful staff and I have to physically carry him out of the building. Dr. Alex is the Beyonce of his little doggy world. We absolutely love PW!

Dr. Alicia and her staff are the best! They love and care for your pet as the family members they are. I took my corgis to her years ago - starting back in 2002 when Princess jumped out of a car window and broke her leg! I lost track of her for a few years and was thrilled when she opened up a clinic right across the street from where I work! When my Scarlett was critically ill in 2013, I was so grateful to have the Prairie Winds staff caring for her. I knew she was in the best hands.

They did everything they could for us. Couldn't ask for more.

The staff at Prairie Winds are nothing short of amazing. I have been using them for our cats Mr. Cuddles and Bailey since we adopted them. When Bailey got sick, we took him into Dr. Alicia and her staff who walked us through every test result, every procedure, and every piece of what they were doing for our cat. They allowed us to drop him off before we went to work to fit him in during the day as well. They were always kind when we would call with questions about Bailey's care or about new symptoms we were seeing. When the day came that we knew Bailey would need to be put to sleep, they brought us in for Urgent Care (it was a Saturday) and the staff and vet who were working were in communication with Dr. Alicia who wasn't working about care options. They were extremely kind and professional with putting our beautiful Bailey to sleep and gave us the time we needed to say our goodbyes. A few weeks after, we received a card in the mail that everyone had signed and wrote messages in and postcards with Bailey's pawprints. It was a beautiful gesture. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Alicia and the staff at Prairie Winds for getting us through our tough time and giving Bailey the best care possible!

was VERY impressed with my visit today. My dog is a bit of a grump when it comes to being examined and although she still was, Alicia handled her very well and this was the most thorough complete exam she (my lab) has ever had ever. Very professional, thorough and full of excellent knowledge.

Prairie Winds has been nothing short of amazing! Archie had Dr.Alicia perform his neuter and his incision was tiny and the stitching was flawless! We also have seeen Dr.Alex for non routine visits and she is the sweetest! Truly kind and caring with a fun sense of humor. The vet techs have all gone above and beyond anytime we have questions and the office staff are wonderful. We would highly recommend to anyone!

I was very pleased with the care my dog received. Unlike other vets that I've been at, they were very thorough.

I am hating the New Pricing Schedule We have always liked the staff. However after calling in and trying to set up an appointment for our cat, I was given 3 different prices. They gave me one price for over two weeks out and another for the next week after I called. I was told another for that week. Then I had an option of coming in that day for urgent care. Each was considerably more. If you have an opening, why should I pay extra to be seen? I understand if I utilized urgent care to pay more. I emailed them and asked about it and mentioned I was considering moving to another vet. They didn't give me any answers, just told me how to go about moving to another vet if I wanted. It didn't seem like they cared how I felt as a customer. I didn't even deserve an answer. I got the feeling like if you don't like it go somewhere else.

Amy Secker

Tried them out and we will be seeking out another vet. They were fine for the routine care, and Dr. Alex was exceptional when we saw her for a few specific-complaint visits. I asked to see her for all of our visits because she is thorough, knowledgeable, and good with diagnosing, but I was informed that she only sees patients who are coming for the specific-complaint or emergency-type visits rather than annual visits and routine maintenance. We went in for bladder issues, saw Dr. Alex, but then were switched to one of the other providers after our first visit with Alex. Dr. Alex had told me what to expect, had great open and honest communication, and seemed to know the different pathways that would be taken based on what the test results showed. Unfortunately, it didn’t go that well with the other provider. I hate leaving negative reviews because it’s always possible there was more to the story than I was aware of. In short, I started to question the providers ability to diagnose, and I also struggled with her vague, flowery communication that seemed like a cover for not having answers. I value honesty more than flowery speech. If we could see Dr. Alex as our primary care, I would not leave. When I asked about sticking with her, I was informed that they could ask Dr. Alicia for special permission, but that it isn’t the norm for her to see routine care visits. It seemed like a big deal and I’m not interested in being an inconvenience or the “particular” patient.

Last year our 12 year old cat started having behavioral issues and we weren't sure what to do. Prairie Winds helped us to determine what was going on with her, in the end she had dementia and the issue became so great that we unfortunately had to put her to sleep. The Veterinarian and tech came to our home and did the procedure in such a caring and respectful manner. It was a very sad day and we were so thankful that the last thing our sweet girl saw was us and she wasn't scared.

Shannyn Jacobsen

We needed to have our dog seen last week after hours in Urgent Care. The ability to have your primary vet's office, who knows and understands the history, see your pet when it is most important is a very valuable service. It is why we have Prairie Winds as our vet office. It is also great that the prices are reasonable for an urgent care appointment.

Dr. Burchill and his team are amazing. He performed the TPLO surgery on my baby in April , and did a fantastic job. Whenever I had questions or concerns ( which was almost every day for 2 long months , since the surgery is a complex one and the road to recovery is a long one ! ) I got to speak to a technician promptly . Each and every one of them answered my questions patiently, and professionally. From the ladies at the reception to the doctors and technicians, they are all very compassionate and caring . I am very thankful for what they did and the care my baby received at this clinic.

The reviews I had read made me really optimistic about this Seems like whenever we have taken a pet in the tech tells us one thing and the vet says another, and they always want tons of money for labs that we did not authorize. My pets will not be going back.

Dr Alesha and staff are wonderful, and treat your pets like their own. They are very caring and compassionate for your furbabies. Prairie Winds is also involved in community activities. Wonderful company.

Alicia

I adore this place. They are all so wonderful, fun, and treat your animals like gold. They don't shove a vaccine in your pet and then your out. They really make the pets comfortable and their very friendly to both pets and wonders. The store is clean and very pretty! Alicia (Main Vet) is amazing. So personable and thorough. She's excellent. Before we found this place we were taking our dog to Southgate on the corner of 32nd Avenue S and 15th Street South in Fargo. (Terrible place) I will never leave this vet and will continue to take my pets here!

Veterinary service that is absolutely second to none. They are so compassionate and knowledgeable. Only small quibble... I am often made to wait a good amount past my scheduled appointment time. I don't often mind because the care is so superior, but it is sometimes frustrating and annoying.

DOESN'T YOUR RESPONSE VIOLATE HIPAA??????? I was hoping that I found something special with this place, especially after reading some positive reviews. Well, I should know better, just another uncaring vet and clinic. I arrived and waited a good 15 minutes Beyond appointment time. Vet came in, looked here there, I explained I am looking for someone to team up with me for reproductive health of my dog. Was promised a call back from "Dr. Alicia" the next week as she was out for the rest of the week. Was told she is the specialist regarding this topic. Two weeks later I receive a call back from the vet I saw "Dr. Kate" she was very cold, bluntly told me although Dr. Alicia does work with reproduction she's not seeing any more patients. Basically told me to transfer my records. Not only that she took the initiative to go ahead and email my records to me before she called to get me out faster. I don't even get it, I was very pleasant and nice. Feeling very confused and hurt.

timothy gruba

Personal touch and great advice. Knowledgeable in all aspects of our dogs care. Tech's and support staff are awesome

Whittney Klose

Awesome place! my dog has been having eye issues we've brought her all the way to the cities, I did some research and seen Dr. Alecia is into learning about the eyes so I gave her a try to save me a trip and also time since the ophthalmologist only comes once a month. She was great and very good at explaining things! Will definitely go back, and be doing follow up with her!

Thomas Krantz

Absolutely top notch! I was doing a little "pissed off" searching of the are vets, services, and prices after being told from our vet of 7 years that a seven month old "wellness" visit would not be sufficient to do a heart worm test and issue a prescription. For all three of my dogs! I would have to pay for three wellness visits, three heart worm tests, and three prescriptions. Not happy after all these years of taking our pets there. I was so happy that I found Prairie Winds when I did. All THREE wellness visits (since I was told they needed new ones anyway), heart worm tests, and prescriptions cost less than if I had taken two to the other vet! The staff is very friendly and accommodating, not to mention genuinely interested in the pets history. You won't be disappointed.

My baby Leo seems to love the vet and assistant, not sure he will be fond of visiting after this last one visit with having surgery. Leo is very forgiving though.
