Twice now my cat has decided to have a medical emergency on a weekend evening. And twice this facility has saved the day. Yes, they are pricey, but this is an emergency vet service. Human emergency rooms are expensive too.
Be warned! This place may look nice, but the care here is sorely lacking. My dog was home on palliative care as her liver was failing. She took a turn for the worse late on a Sunday night. The whole time we there, we were the only people in for services. Just us. First, they took her from me, went to the back and sedated her without my presence. The last thing she saw was me standing in tears as they took her a away from me. She did need to be euthanized, which broke our hearts as her survival story is one for the record books. TWICE while we were there I asked them to please put in their system who would be picking her up for a private cremation. I use Carolina Pet on Glenwood Avenue - Steve is AMAZING. Twice I tried to get them to at least write it down, put his name and number in their system, we wanted a private cremation. Oh no, I was told, they would remember. Got a call from Steve at Carolina Pet the next morning, he had been there to pick her up. This vet hospital gave our precious dog to the wrong crematory and had her marked for communal cremation. He drove to Greenville to get her and thankfully was able to before they had done anything. Did the hospital call to apologize for their HORRENDOUS mistake? No. I sent a letter to them about this and was very detailed in every aspect. I got a letter back that this only happened because they were busy. They did no apologizing. They were not busy. This is the closest emergency vet to where I live and I don’t believe I will EVER go there again. Utterly incompetent.
I brought my cat in on Tuesday evening as he was in a very bad way. Sadly, his prognosis was not good, so I made the decision to put him down. I found the staff to be very supportive and accommodating. Today I received a card with hand written notes from everyone working that night. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for everyone involved.
Several months ago we had to bring our dog here for pain, turns out she had fractured her back and we ended up putting her to sleep a couple months later. Everyone was was great to work with! The doctor and the staff was all wonderful. Tonight we needed their services again, and they did exactly what they said they would. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing emergency services!
I would highly recommend triangle vet, they took care of our dog Jake and took the time to explain what was going on with him. Dr. Cox was very professional and caring about Jake and the situation he was in. I felt like she treated Jake like he was her own which means a lot to us. We also appreciate the nice card that the staff sent. Thanks again and God Bless!
Brought my cat in this morning for a fairly simple visit for an inflamed claw. Dr. Cox was was very friendly, but not the most honest and forthcoming. She kept telling us that someone would be in with our cat’s medicine, or our discharge paperwork, in 15-20 minutes, but no one ever came back. We waited 3 hours! She initially quoted us a price of $350 out the door, but when we checked out, we were told it was $471. We complained that it was not the price that we were quoted, and she even agreed that she did tell us it would be only $350. She adjusted off $75 from the total, but would not adjust it to the price she gave us. My main complaint with our visit was the multiple excuses and lies we were told this morning. I understand that emergencies happen, and those deserved to triaged. But if you tell someone you are going to do something, you should do it, and not make excuses. We were asked to pay before we ever saw any paperwork to look over our charges, and these charges were astronomical. We paid about 200% markup on medication from what CVS would have charged us. I finally had to ask someone to just bring my cat out and her medicine so we could leave. It was ridiculous and a hot mess. I’ve been to this location several times before, and have been very happy. This visit was just a hot mess and I’ll NEVER come back. That makes me sad because I really used to be very happy with this location and they are convenient for emergency situations.
While they did help me, there prices were outrageously high, $250 for bloodwork and $250 for a xray, after the bloodwork i couldnt afford to do xrays to actually find out what might be wrong with my dog. Three weeks later my dog is fine. She just must of had a stomach bug but all they would consider is the worse. I called back to try to get anti vomiting medicine to help ease the vomiting at night and just 2 days after the doctors saying to call back in for it, she denied me the medicine. I believe it would have helped the dog to get through her sick period easier. I would NOT recommend them unless its your very last option.
Incredible staff and care! During Christmas 2014 while on vacation visiting family, our mini schnauzer had to be euthanized. Everyone at Triangle VRH was incredibly accommodating and empathetic toward us. Dr. Laura Russell was amazing. The facilities are very clean and up to date. Dr. Russell appeared to be using the latest technology as well as she reviewed our dog’s X-rays and test results with us via an iPad. After arriving back home, the following week, we received a sympathy card from Triangle VRH signed by everyone on staff. What a thoughtful thing to do! I originally arrived at about 6:30am with Jack. I didn't have to wait long for Dr. Russell to see Jack. His diagnosis came equally as quick. From the time I first arrived to when I left, everyone was friendly and professional. I cannot say enough good things about our experience or the people who make up Triangle VRH. I'm so glad I found them because they made our experience better. I mean, having to euthanize your family pet of 10 years is a very emotional experience-- one that doesn't need the added problems of whether or not you are being treated professionally as a customer and empathetically as a person. Thank you to everyone at Triangle VRH. You made a difference in our lives.
Can't say enough great things about the incredible care they gave my dog and I during a very scary situation. The staff was patient, attentive and overall fantastic. Would highly recommend them in an emergency situation.
When there was a weekend emergency I called Triangle Emergency and asked if my pet could be seen. I have never been there before and in a short phone call they got all my information and said they'd be ready for me when I arrived. Unfortunately we didn't make it but they offered to handle the aftercare and were very kind and professional.
Over priced and not very friendly. Sold me meds for my dog I didn't even need.
I had never been to Triangle before, but my poor frenchie had become very ill and I couldn't bear to see him suffer another day. It was a weekend, so we took him here as our regular vet was not open. The staff and Vet are superb. She evaluated him and assured me that it was his time. They let me hold him in my arms and gave me all the time I needed. She even spoke very soothingly towards him and told him that he could have chocolate in "doggy heaven." I truly recommend this place.
Had a really great experience here when my cat could not be seen by our regular vet. They recommended we bring him here, and they were so polite, very honest with treatment options, and made sure we were aware of pricing at every step (along with whether certain steps were truly necessary). They were judicious with their advice, and laid out all the different options so we could make the best decision for our cat (he's fine, by the way :)
I brought in my senior dog for trouble breathing and what felt like fluid building up around his chest. It took me 10 minutes to get him to TVRH. My complaint was it took TWO hours for the vet to see my dog. The vet tech took his vitals when he came in and considered him "stable" and kenneled him in the back. Due to their being other patients that were more critical they waited 2 hours for a vet to exam my dog. After waiting that time they discovered he had air building in his chest cavity and his breathing was critical. After X rays were taken they found he had air accumulating in his abdomen, throat and chest. From the minute the vet actually examined him to fifteen minutes later they told me my dog was not going to make it. The staff was very professional and compassionate. I just wish they had had more urgency in caring for my dog, if they had taken his emergency more serious and had acted quicker in examining him possibly he could have been saved.
I highly recommend triangle vet clinic and I’ve always been seen quickly and taken care of when I needed to have my pups seen urgently! I have always had an awesome experience and they are very helpful and compassionate!!! They are my go to if an emergency arises! We are very thankful for you guys!!! ❤️
Annie M, We're terribly sorry for your loss, and know how difficult dealing with the death of a loved one can be. If there's anything we can do to help you through this transition, please let us know. As far as our phone protocol, typically when someone calls with a dire situation, and is in need of emergency care, we do recommend they bring their pet in immediately. As you pointed out, every second counts; instead of wasting time on the phone-guessing on necessary care, we encourage pet owners to bring their animal(s) in for a full assessment. Once patients arrive, our doctors and technicians provide the next level of care in a timely and organized manner to ensure the stability of your pet and to ease your peace of mind. Again, please call us if there's anything else we can do, Sincerely the staff of Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital
Our dog Marley was bit by another dog and required immediate treatment. The staff there was great, especially the intake nurse, I didn't get his name but a young African American gentleman with colored braids. This guy was awesome with us and the way he handled another dog coming in after ours. Truly a great asset to this practice. Hopefully I won't need to visit again, but if I need an emergency vet I will be back.
Please read this before taking your pet to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital of Holly Springs. When I got home from work I realized that my 30 lb. dog was frantic and unable to urinate despite him straining and trying every few minutes. I recognized this as a medical emergency and tried to call my vet but it was 5:40 pm and they were closed. They did have a message that referred us to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital of Holly Springs. I called them and the receptionist was friendly, understanding, and told me to bring him in immediately. Once I got to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital of Holly Springs I watched a man and woman walk out in tears and I should have taken this as an ominous sign, however the friendly receptionist gave prompt attention to my dog and took him back immediately for vitals. I waited for the doctor to examine my dog in another room. The waiting room was nice with a large aquarium, a Keurig machine, and plush leather chairs to sit in. Once my dog was examined the doctor came out and informed me that he believed that my dog had a stone that was blocking his urethra and blocking the flow of urine. I was given an estimate of $800 for them to do x-rays, blood work, put him to sleep, catheterize him, drain the urine from his bladder, and push the stone back into his bladder. I was told that this was a life threatening emergency. I called my husband and put him on speaker phone and this was explained to him as well. We agreed to do the procedure in order to save our dog’s life. I was told that this procedure would take 1.5 hours and then we could take him home. The receptionist told me that I would have to sign an estimate and pay a deposit and we agreed, but the doctor came back out and said that since he was able to talk to my husband and heard his agreement that I did not need to sign anything or leave a deposit. He told me to take my kids to dinner and come back in 1.5 hours. I left and did just that. I returned 1.5 hours later only to be told that I had to pay $950 and they were going to keep him overnight because his body temperature was low. This time he made me sign a document and pay $950. He told me that my dog needed to have surgery to remove several stones from his bladder and the estimate was $1,800-$3,000. I told them that I wanted to take him to his normal vet. Fast forward to morning, I had called 2 times during the night and was told he was doing great, no problems. I get a call at 6:30 am from the doctor telling me that although my dog was doing great that he was bitten by my dog during the night and had filed a report with the “county”. I asked the doctor if he was OK and he said that it was not a bad bite and that it was always a possibility with his job. I asked why they did not take bite precautions because my dog was in a great amount of pain and frantic when I brought him in. I was told that although that was a standard procedure, it was not always followed. Imagine my surprise when I get a phone call from the Wake County Sheriff’s department telling me that my dog had to be quarantined for 10 days (all of his shots are up to date including rabies). I was also told by the vet that if he was not taken to surgery immediately he would die. I told the Wake County officer that my dog needed to have emergency surgery and that he would die if quarantined and not allowed to have the surgery. The Wake County officer was very surprised by the whole situation, he was very nice, showed me sympathy, and allowed me to take my dog straight to my normal vet to have this emergency surgery. As I write this I am still talking to the police about the situation and do not know what the outcome is at this moment. He is having this surgery at him normal vet right now for $788. So if you would like to take the chance at having to pay much more than the average vet, and possibly have your pet quarantined by the county because someone did not follow basic protocol, then please by all means take your beloved pet to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital of Holly Springs.
We had to take my little buddy here when he was injured. The staff was fantastic and very very quick to see him. Honestly for an emergency visit, x-rays and drugs it was much lower price than I thought it would be. I would recommend this place to everyone for their high quality of service.
Can't say enough nice things! They were so nice to my dog and helped him in his time of need. It is more expensive than a vet but I thought the services were very reasonably priced for an emergency vet clinic. If my dog needs emergency attention again, we will come here.
Our goldendoodle received top notch emergency care here after an altercation with another family dog. He needed to be put under for quite a few stitches in different areas. They were so caring and thoughtful and our pup has recovered amazingly well post visit. Dr. Stephanie Pferdeort did a remarkable job on his stitches with very little scarring visible. I am so happy with the care he received as well as the level of compassion and warmth shown by the staff. We will definitely return to this location should the need ever arise.
Brought my dog in last night at 11 pm (he'd been vomiting up everything all day), and I could not have been more pleased with my experience. So thankful that they were close to home and able to take him so quickly and fix him up.
In the waiting room, another customer and myself discussed our agreement of dissatisfaction regarding TVRH's organization and customer service - the customer i was speaking with made the right choice to leave after her fist consultation with the tech vets and Doctor - I stayed because I needed antibiotics quickly for my dog. I received multiple explanations that both contradicted themselves and we're ultimately explained highly unlikely and "not based on test results" when I got a second opinion at Animal Emergency Clinic of Cary (which was a dream come true compared to this place!). Don't go here. I talked to two of my neighbors and both agreed that had a bad feeling about this place from their last experience as well. There are other options - do the right thing for your pet.
We had to bring our husky in because her tongue suddenly started hanging out the left side of her mouth. It was a little bloody and she wouldn’t eat or drink. Dr.Cox was great and let us know that she felt it was neurological and our best bet was NC State. She was upfront about not wanting us to waste our money on an exam and then having to send us somewhere else anyways. Dr. Cox was great and really had our best interest at heart.
I just wanted to thank everyone at TVRH of Holly Springs for taking such good care of our sweet Australian Cattle Dog Duke. Duke has a habit of eating things that he should not and back in January he ate a corn cob. He was in severe distress so we took him here and was told there was some kind of object in his stomach. Luckily the surgeon was already there so they were able to do surgery right away. He came home 2 days later and was doing great until in May he decided to eat a sock. He could not get this out so he had to have surgery again and is now all healed from that one. Everyone at TVRH took great care of him and were always very nice and helpful when we called. I was very pleased with the care and concern we received at TVRH and we will certainly go back should we have the need in the future.
Unfortunately our first visit to this location was to say goodbye to a dear old friend, but the staff was so friendly, sympathetic and helpful. Dr. Chadwick was amazing with our dog. She actually laid on the floor with us when it was time to put him down and her sympathy card spoke volumes about her character. We have received notes from vet clinics in the past, but this one was so heartfelt and personal. I would recommend this facility to anyone.
We lost our cat Herman for 4 weeks. A nice person brought him to Triangle and they scanned his chip. When they called we were nearly in tears. The staff were so nice when I came to pick him up. Gave us a carrier free of charge! Needless to say, they are our new Vet.
It took them over an hour and a half to even see us, them another hour to see the doctor. The prices are ridiculous. If i hadnt asked any questions i wouldn't have been told anything.
We've had to take 3 different animals for different emergencies here and we've always left happy with the care. We've had a 16 year old dog fall down stairs, a cat that needed to be put down, and recently a dog that needed emergency surgery. All have been tough situations and we've always been treated with care and consideration by all of the staff. We have always felt that we were properly informed of our options in very compassionate ways. Always quick and willing to answer calls and any questions that we may have. Prices are a bit high, but they were always up front with costs. I understand how their pricing can be higher however since it is essentially an er for animals. People generally pay more for the immediate care that er's provide, so makes sense that animal ones do too. Highly recommend for urgent needs!
On March 15, 2018 I brought my cat here after she had a still born kitten and it been over and hour and the other one had not come out yet. Almost at soon as we got there they from her back and told us that the other kitten was stuck in her with no heartbeat and that she would need surgery to remove it, she had a fever and was very sick. They gave us two opinions, a C-section or a spaying. The C-section was more expensive and spaying her would do the same thing as a C-section so we went with the spaying. Our problem was that it would be eighteen hundred dollars for the spaying and we didn’t have that, we called around to other places and the price was the same. I don’t remember the names of the people who helped us but they got their manager to bring down the price of the surgery to twelve hundred for us so of course we said yes and they went over with us that she might not even make it through this surgery, we said our goodbyes just in case and told her she was a great mom. Once they took her back we went to eat lunch up the road, just was we where finishing and about to go home my mom got a call from the vet, I was asking she what they where saying as she was talking to them and then she said the words “so is this typically when people come in and say goodbye” when I heard these words my heart compleatly broke, in a way I have never felt before. We ran to the car and drove back to the vet where they gave us our own private room and let us sit with her for as long as we wanted. They told us that she had anemia, which means that she has lost a lot of blood and that if they did the surgery she wouldn’t have made it through it. Bree was my cat, i cleaned her ears, I gave her baths, I trimmed her nails, I brushed her fur, I slept with her at night and I fed her everyday and when I found out she was pregnant I felt her baby’s kick every day when I woke up and every night before I Went to bed, and the whole time she was pregnant I told her she would be an amazing mom. My mom, my little sister, and my boyfriend. For the first 30 mintues I just held her and cried on my boyfriends shoulder, who couldn’t even look at her. Bree was his favorite and that wasn’t the way that he wanted to remember her. My mom left to get my little sister. When they got back it was another 30 or so mintues of everyone holding her and telling he we lover her. The lady that was working at the front desk that day have us a little bell to ring when we where ready for the doctor to come in. Because she was my cat my mom let me decide when to ring the bell. Bree was purring the whole time but I could tell she was tired. When the doctor came in he asked if u wanted to hold her if we all wanted to be around her. We all agreed that I should hold her. She had a iv in her arm that he pushed the anesthetic through. He left the room and told us to get him when we where ready. I held her for the last time and told her that she truly was the best mom, as she decided that she didn’t want to live if her baby’s couldn’t. She was put on earth to be mom. And that is what my family has made peace with. The love you share with an animal is truly amazing and you could never understand if unless you have felt it. The triangle vet in holly springs was amazing. They gave us little ceramic hearts with her paw prints in it that I keep on my dresser. They where nothing but caring and nice the whole time. I know the love I showed to Bree is the same love she shows to her baby’s, where ever they are now, they know they will always be in my heart.
We had been struggling with a very bad tumor with our lab for months now and had been to two vets, considered if it was the end but were still trying some final efforts. Today I came home from work and she had declined, we knew it was time. After months of trying to decide it was true when it's time you know. I had planned on doing an in home euthanization service but this evening I knew she shouldn't wait, it could be overnight that she passed, she could be in even more pain, it could be slow. This was our first visit to triangle vet and just picked it because it was very close, didn't think Holly Springs had a 24hr vet. The whole family went and the staff was great, they made the process smooth and personal. The family room was very comforting and personal and I really appreciated the vet taking the time to reassure us that she too thought this was the right decision, in addition to other things I saw in our dog she was breathing heavy. The vet had mentioned that she had trouble breathing when she was in the back room and that it was probably why she didn't want to lay down, easier to breath standing up. Her assessment that the tumor was not a good candidate for operating was also helpful in making me feel that I did not neglect doing the last thing I could to save her. So often doctors don't want to share there opinion and give options, but tonight I needed that unwavering determination. Explaining what would happen as she passed was also very helpful, if the vet had not told us about the postmortem exhale I would have thought she was still hanging on . We were given as much time as we needed to say good bye then we came home and berried our dear dog, it had been a long time since she looked that peaceful, we all felt good for her in the end.
Can I give (-) stars? There are several other emergency vet clinics in this area, I would highly recommend you try them first. I went to Triangle on the referral of a family vet telling me they were "not nearly as expensive" as most emergency vets. I had to take my male cat in for a blocked urethra on a Sunday and they kept him overnight. They had to give him an IV catheter and urinary catheter and sedate him to place both. They pumped him full of fluids and pain meds during this time as well. The Dr. I worked with, Dr. Dupre, did say he was trying to save me money on everything but I still ended up paying out roughly $1,300 for a 24 visit. For comparison, a similar visit at the emergency vet in Cary was around $700. They offered to keep him the next day as well for $200 for a half a day. I insisted on bringing him to his regular vet who charged me $30 for a full day of observation. I tried to let it go, but then I got the invoice. On top of everything else they charged me $15 for a flimsy plastic e-collar. For a small cat...I think those normally run $5 at petsmart. When I called to complain and hopefully return it for a refund, they claimed they can't accept e-collar returns because they tend to harbor bacteria. My concern then becomes whether they know how to clean their reusable instruments. I would have been happy to pop over to Wal-Mart (across the street) and buy one in the time he was sedated in order to avoid the cost. Because in the end, I'm going to have a buy a new one because this one doesn't fit him properly. Now, I know we pay a premium for emergency vets but eventually it just turns into price gouging. I should also mention that for this premium I paid for, they managed to let my cat remove his urinary catheter about 8 hours early. Not to mention they didn't offer me a room or anything for at least an hour. During which I was a mess in their lobby. Go somewhere else....
My puppy ate a tack and had to have abdominal surgery. The vet’s/staff were amazing, and so attentive to her. I really appreciated how informative they were, always keeping me updated. They also tired out all of their options in attempt to avoid surgery. Ultimately, she did need it, but they did try to not have to put her through that. She’s still having some issues, and they are continuing to work with me to ensure her health and safety. I would 100% recommend them!
The entire staff that was working at 10pm on 5-26-19 was absolutely outstanding. Our poor Boston was not doing well and they were so caring and professional. Dr. Laura Ellsaesser examined her throughly. I am happy to report as of this post Gracie Bella is 90% better thanks to the kind caring staff at TVRH of Holly Springs.
Their prices are borderline extortion, our dog had pyometra which is a medical emergency and they gave us a price range of $3,000-$6,000. Also stated in front of one of the kids that the other option was putting her down if we couldn’t afford that. Of course we could always try another vet but she needed surgery regardless. We took her to Banfield and they performed the surgery for less than $1,000. While I’m sure the doctors are very good at what they do, they will take you for a ride if you let them.
This place is very nice. Came late Saturday night with a sick cat. The staff and veterinarian were wonderful, gave me options and we're very up front with costs and decisions. Highly recommend them.
I would highly recommend this hospital for anyone who has a pet that needs emergency help. I brought my baby in and in a timely manner they were able to identify the issue (tumor), swiftly come up with a treatment plan and perform surgery. The whole time they communicated with my primary vet and also helped me file my insurance. But the biggest credit that this hospital has is its staff. They have genuine concern and commitment to animals. They literally are there 24 hours to answer any concerns you have during the middle of the night. They kept my baby company constantly following her surgery and provided me with so many updates and always offered ongoing support. Lastly, I did price compare for her surgery, and they were over $2000 less than other surgeons in the area.
This place is a rip off. If you want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for nothing then by all means go here. They charge you$25 dispensing fee for EACH prescription you get. I paid $50 in dispensing fees for drugs that should have cost me $5 at a pharmacy. When I called them on it they just said sorry. They didnt even count out the pills correctly and billed me for medication I never got. Ridiculous. I’ll never go back here.
Capable and compassionate staff have helped us twice during difficult times.
