If you want to get an alternative treatment for your pets, this is the place. Everyone is professional and very knowledgeable about animal health. Dr. Sheehan is amazing and did acupuncture on my 17 year old dog to alleviate her pain and it helped a lot. I did decide it was time for her to run over the rainbow, and they were incredible during the entire process. They didn't rush me or even ask for payment afterwards. Most importantly, the doctors usually recommend herbs if possible, instead of the mainstream meds that have tremendous side effects. My pets will always have the best care here, in my opinion.

I cannot say enough great things about these Doctors. Our Lab, Gracie, has had severe problems with her paws which were not hot spots. After researching her case, she was treated with laser therapy which completely healed her wounds and was a non-invasive treatment. Gracie has had intestinal issues as well, and was treated immediately by the doctors and staff. Gracie loves to come here which says a lot about this hospital. One weekend, while the office was closed, my kitty was sick and I was really worried that something was seriously wrong. Ever since I started using Davidson Veterinary Hospital I have breathed a sigh of relief. I love the Doctors, the staff, and every experience I have there is always a positive event. I love that they practice homeopathic medicine and use herbal supplements whenever possible. I am a nurse and they were recommended to me by a fellow nurse because we know first hand what overuse of prescription medicine can create in humans and animals. We they do suggest a drug I know that it is because it is the best pathway for the issue at hand. Whenever I call the office all of my concerns are always addressed and answered completely. i feel like we are in partnership in the care of my animals. Met her several years ago when Bailey had some "knee" problems.(Our Vet at the time had recommended a titanium knee replacement at $4 to 5k) She recommended some acupuncture and a more holistic approach. 4 years later(and no artificial knee) Bailey can run with the best of them.....

I do not have words to explain how amazing The Veterinary Hospital of Davidson is. From the time you walk in the door to the time you walk out you can tell how passionate everyone is. My family has seven dogs who see several of the doctors and we have never once been disappointed. These drs fight for the patients and truly love what they do. I had a old chihuahua who I rescued from a local animal rescue group. This sweet girl had a lot of health issue. The original vet she was seeing told us that there was nothing we could do but keep her on a pharmacy on medications to keep for comfortable for a few more months. Within a few months of seeing Dr. Sheehan my sweet girl had gotten much better and was starting to play again. It was amazing. My sweet girl has since crossed the rainbow bridge. But those few extra months of her feeling better was truly a gift. I highly recommend taking your animals to this amazing clinic! Thank you so much Veterinary Hospital of Davidson!

Can't believe I haven't left a review for them yet! We live roughly an hour away, and still go here. We unfortunately lost our dog to cancer a couple of years ago—but during trying to fight that, we ended up going here after trying several other vets, and this being recommended, but other people who also live an hour away (that really says something). Very caring staff, they seem to really love animals, and try to help in the least invasive/painful way possible. We knew he wasn't going to make it, and he died on the way there, but they helped get him out of the car (in the rain) and seemed upset, like we obviously were. Definitely helped in a difficult time. Cannot recommend this place enough!

I have been bringing my Australian Shepherd, Hoosier, here since the day I got him at 8 weeks and every visit is a pleasure. Hoosier loves coming here and loves the attention he gets from all of the staff. He actually knows them as the treat people. I have never had to wait to get into a room and haven’t waited more than 3-5 minutes to see his vet after speaking with a vet tech. All of his puppy exams have been incredibly thorough and he didn’t even yelp when they gave him his shots. We recently had a scare where we thought Hoosier had a blockage and they took him the moment they opened with open arms. They did all the needed tests but called and asked me personally before doing any elective tests to make sure I was okay with it, which not many vets will do. They also encouraged me to call throughout the day to check on him and never got frustrated with my endless questions. Once his vet figured out what was wrong, which thankfully wasn’t a blockage, she called me personally to explain everything and to give me a heads up on his medication and temporary change of food. When I picked him up, I was pleasantly surprised with the bill. I have been to other vets with previous animals and I have spent a lot more for a lot less. This place is worth the traffic on 77 and I couldn’t see myself taking any of my animals anywhere else!

I cannot say enough good things about The Veterinary Hospital of Davidson! Everyone makes you feel comfortable, welcome and treats your pets as if they were their own. I brought my 12 year old, Johnny, for a second opinion after he was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and only given 1-3 months to live. Drs. Sheehan and Uehlein, and all the staff, did not give up on Johnny and because of their efforts, he is healthy and happy today. Thank you all for giving me my sweet Johnny back! They are, and always will be, my vet of choice for Johnny and his two sisters. Do yourself and favor and take your animals there for all of their care - it will be the best choice you ever make!

Let me preface this review by saying that I have a LOT of years of experience in the fields of veterinary/rescue/spay neuter/animal welfare shelter management/pet nutrition. 15+ years experience to be exact. Long story short, I'm incredibly selective about veterinary practices that my pets go to (fur, fin, scales all apply). The only reason I was even in the market for a new vet was because I recently moved out of state and had to leave my beloved and trusted vet of 21 years. Don't worry, we still keep in touch and I still have the clinic's phone number memorized. But I digress.....while at work last week, I mentioned my pupper was shedding tumble furs (more than typical husky X in the summer months of you can even believe that's possible). I was referred to this practice by a co-worker (Nash's mom) and I'm so glad I took her up on her recommendation. This practice blew me away. Not only was the facility incredibly clean, the entire staff was top notch. Lynn, the vet tech was great and Dr. Rafferty was amazing as well. Their knowledge and blend of Western and Eastern medicine was so refreshing and despite a lot of years in vet/shelter management/pet nutrition based positions, I learned some new things about protein types (cooling vs heating) and how they affect different dog breeds. Blaze, my border collie X husky mix loved everyone there. Dr. Rafferty was incredibly knowledgeable about both breeds, even laughing and pointing out when Blaze displayed behaviors that were so tell-tale of his breed make-up. While I hope my pup heals quickly, I must say that we honestly look forward to our next visit and that the Vet Hospital at Davidson has earned another client for as long as we Iive in the area. Dr.Uehline has been amazing with my boy and the day after his surgery they called to check on him. Also we have corresponded through email about his condition just to make sure he was doing well. It has definitely been a great experience, and although we don't know his full outcome yet, this will be our place!! I really feel the compassion with the practice, and the front end staff, they really like their job as you can hear it in their voice. Doesn't get much better that!! He was treated with Accupuncture over several sessions and has fully recovered. We rescued three pit bull puppies at 10 weeks or so. Now the two females and one male are 8 months and the center of our fun and physical activity. Both of us are retired, and I am living with Parkinson’s. So our three puppies are as close to us as “white on rice.” We researched the various arguments for vasectomy for the male, Noah, as opposed to castration and the right timing for each. We were aware of vasectomies in male dogs because the practice is common in Europe as a less violent and more health conscious way of controlling the population. This procedure is generally done after puberty with the intention of not altering the male’s personality. And we certainly did not want to alter Noah’s spontaneity, attention and joie de vivre. So I searched through North Carolina vets for some provider who was experienced in this procedure. After a week, I finally discovered the Veterinary Hospital of Davidson. The vet had a preliminary meeting with Noah and us, determined that he was a good candidate, and we scheduled the surgery. All went well for Noah and us. Noah has recovered quickly, thanks to the meds related to his vasectomy that have relieved any post surgical pain and inflammation. And the herbs and gel provided for a skin condition that the vet recognized during the operation have worked wonders. The estimate for the procedure was right on target with the actual cost. The facility was superb and so clean. And all the staff were so professional but also a lot more. The vet allowed Noah to kiss her face and everyone seemed to have a real love for our puppy. I don’t think we were a unique case at all. We drove two hours for these services and will do the same for our little girls after their first cycle. Our experience with Noah has certainly exceeded our experiences with castration in male dogs at a much younger age. We are sold on the procedure, and we are sold on The Veterinary Hospital of Davidson, NC!

The Veterinarian took the time to patiently answer all my questions and offer suggestions. She was through and was concerned about his overall health. We visited The Veterinary Hospital of Davidson yesterday with our 8-week old Golden Retriever puppy Heidi. This was our first visit. We decided to change vets since we were not totally happy with the vet we used for our last two Goldens. Our main concern was that our dog seemed to be treated as a number, not as a "special" patient. After our last Golden died, it took them many weeks to send a condolence card. We never questioned their treatment of our dogs, but that special friendly manner was lacking. We came to Dr. Sheehan's practice at the advice of a good friend. After yesterday's initial visit, we know that this is the vet that Heidi will visit each time she needs veterinary service. From the moment we walked in the door, the atmosphere could not have been better. The entire staff was very friendly. I was referred to Dr. Uehlein by my friend. My dog Bruno had begun limping with no known cause. He had been seen by another veterinarian who provided no details as to what the possible issue might be. And surgical intervention was proposed as a possibility. Dr. Uehlein examined Bruno thoroughly and assesed his full range of motion along with muscle mass. Quickly Dr. Uehlein proposed that we go the route of an anti-inflammatory and dietary supplement. Dr. Uehlein attempts to seek minimally invasive methods of treatment first. Bruno is in a great place, feeling better and surgery avoided.

Dr. Uehlein cared for our older dogs through the end of their lives several years ago. She also looked after the young dogs we rescued to fill our home after those dogs aged out of our lives. We always have been grateful for her care and attention. In the several years since we've moved away from NC -- living in 3 different cities in 2 states -- we've regretted that we never met a veterinarian who cared about our dogs as much as we do and Dr. Uehlein did. We actually decided against one job transfer because the opportunity didn't outweigh our trust in Dr. Uehlein and her colleagues. And when we sadly reached the stage that one of the young dogs she looked after all those years ago needed end-of-life care, despite the continent and years now separating us, Dr. Uehlein was the first person we called for compassionate advice.

We can't say enough good about Dr. Sheehan, her staff, and the Veterinary Hospital of Davidson's approach to treating our precious pets. We found her when looking for a holistic approach when given a very bleak prognosis for one of our kitties. With Dr. Sheehan's thinking outside the box and approaching things more positively, we had our sweet kitty for another six years instead of only months. One of our kitties occasionally receives acupuncture, which we would do anyday over unnecessary medication. Today we took our 18 year old kitty boy to her after a very scary possible prognosis from an urgent care facility over the weekend. She checked him over, looked at the x-rays and report, showed to us and explained what she saw, and totally put our minds at ease. We so appreciate her calm and positive approach. The staff was also very kind to us. Together they turned around a rough couple of days. We've recommended Dr. Sheehan and her practice to family and friends, and everyone is beyond impressed with the care their pets are given. We have plenty of veterinary options closer to home, but this practice is completely worth going out of the way for. The rooms are always sparkling clean and care is taken to make both pet and pet parents feel they are in the best of hands.

We have a rather difficult dog to have his nails cut. He requires sedation and even with that it is not an easy task, in fact today, he was having no part of it. Bailey 1, sedation 0. Even with that, the staff is kind and compassionate and patient with this difficult situation. Dr. Uline even suggested a home visit to try and see if that will work better for Bailey. I started coming to this vet because my Boston Terrier has allergies and my pug is a princess so she comes along too. I've had experiences with every Vet and many vet techs in the building and I've loved all of them equally. Dr. Sheehan is treating my Boston's allergies holistically and we couldn't be happier with his progress. A few months ago my Boston got into an anthill while we were walking the neighborhood and he went into anaphylactic shock. I called them in a panic and they told me to come right in. When I got there, they had the doors open, a room ready, the blood pressure machine sitting there, all hands on deck, ready to save my baby boy. Dr. Parker was by our side the entire time, explaining what was happening and reassuring me. He ended up recovering quickly, but their response to this terrifying event shocked me and made me a lifelong client. Every staff member in the building cares about you, and you can feel it when you walk in. I'm so happy I found them.

We took our 16 year old cat Kona to Dr. Uehlein when she was in the beginning stages of kidney failure and our regular vet did not offer us many options. Dr. Uehlein agreed with our idea that we should let our cat eat whatever she wants, just so she will eat, instead of trying to make her eat a kidney diet that she refused to eat! Our cat has been happier and more like herself after taking the Standard Process Kidney Support, going on a low dose blood pressure pill and eating whatever she chooses! We realize that she is still a "little old lady cat" but we feel like her quality of life is much more agreeable to her. She still plays, does tricks for her treats, gets the wild eyed crazies and runs through the house and goes through her daily routines and rituals everyday, just like normal. If your dog is struggling to walk, I highly recommend bringing them to the Veterinary Hospital of Davidson for acupuncture. My 12 year old Chihuahua began having disc issues and was struggling to walk. I took him to see an emergency vet, my local vet, and made a trip to see a vet neurologist that is an hour from where I live. I was told by the emergency vet that I may need to start thinking about putting him down because he will probably never recover. My sweet Rascal had too much life still in him to consider this. Fortunately he started to walk again but not great. Every time he looked like he was going to get better he would relapse. After his last relapse I decided it was time for a different approach and began looking for a holistic approach. Veterinary Hospital of Davidson came up on my search and had great reviews. Now I can see why. They recommended acupuncture for my dog. I will say it was the best thing I did for him. I drive an hour and a half for treatments but it is well worth the results that I have seen. Between the acupuncture and the holistic medicine that he is being treated with, I couldn't be more pleased. My senior dog is more active and walking the best he has walked in years. My family is so surprised by the results. Nothing against my local vet, they are great with my dogs, but I wish I had brought him sooner to the Veterinary Hospital of Davidson. I highly recommend them and acupuncture.

Experts!!! They have a wholistic approach which I love. They are straight shooters and not running unnecessary tests or jump right to surgery yet have just the right sense of urgency to treat your pets. They know what they are doing and it gives me such relief and confidence when I'm stressed about my sick pet.

I was impressed with the love, care and understanding that each of them exhibited towards my precious coonhound, Minnie.
