Wonderful people at Steele Creek Animal Hospital would not take my little girl to anyone else. extremely good care from the time that you walk through the door. two thumbs up.
We found a stray kitten about a month ago and were able to get it in for an appointment the same day. Until then we decided to keep it away from our older cat because we were unaware of what the kitten may be carrying, fleas or otherwise. My husband took it to the appointment where they said it had an infection and 'flea dirt' but no active fleas. They gave us antibiotics. My husband asked if we needed to keep it away from our older cat or bring our older cat in for boosters to which they replied no because our older cat had thr vaccination so it would be okay. So we gave the kitten a bath (covered in LIVE fleas, no surprise) and let it roam about our house. All was well and the antibiotics worked. A month later the kitten was sick again with the same exact symptoms and SURPRISE so was our other cat. We had to take them both back to Steele Creek Animal hospital. Apparently this scenario was always a possibility but they didn't foresee it actually happening. Furthermore they now both have this illness for life. Our perfectly healthy cat is now sick for life because this establishment didnt feel the need to share all of the information we needed to know in order to make an informed decision about keeping our pet safe. So $323 dollars later and we are wanting our older cats visit or at least meds to be waived because it was literally their fault our older cat got sick. That didn't happen because " it was an unforseen consequence and it wasn't their fault." They want us to bring our cats back. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. If Steele Creek Animal hospital really put the well being of animals before anything else they would have given us the information and proper instructions to keep our animal safe. Now it has this virus for life. Please save yourself the money. Or just make sure you Google when you get home from your visit because chances are they've only shared half of the pertinent information with you.
We had a wonderful experience with this Animal Hospital. Our dog, Harvey, hasn't been taken to the vet in a couple of years because he is very fearful. In the past he has snapped at vets, peed, growled like crazy because he has had some abuse in his past before we got him. Amy Kirkpatrick was our vet and she is WONDERFUL. She, along with everyone else we met understood his past and were very slow and patient with him. He never growled, never snapped, never bit and was completely calm. They are professionals. I see a lot of negative reviews on here about being charged for things and about money in general. A vets office, just like a doctors office, will do what they think needs to be done. You need to ask the price of services before they are done and make sure they fit your budget. We got everything done that we wanted to and they even made sure they didn't need to sedate Harvey so that we had more room for blood tests we wanted done. This is now Harveys vet for life as well as the vet we will always go to with all our pets in the future. Thanks guys!
They are all so caring my boys have gone their since we moved here in 06 . Sonny passed away 2 years ago and they where all so caring . Nico loves going he's 15 ands shiba Inu and the medical care he's gotten is outstanding . Nico has a special bond with DR Clark
They are very caring. Today I had to take my dog Thunder there to be put to sleep. I had never been there before. They walked me through the process and gave me as much time as I needed with him. I know that if he had gone there regularly he would have gotten great care
I love Steele Creek Animal Hospital and so does our little kitty Tuptim. We were there to see Dr. Kirkpatrick yesterday and she gave Tuptim a complete exam and recommended ways that we can keep her healthy and live a full life. Steele Creek Animal Hospital is very cat friendly, the vets and staff are gracious, and the clinic kitty Sammy is always there to greet visitors and make sure that all is well. I can't recommend them highly enough.
If your dog is dying of cancer, please find a more caring facility to take your baby to. We came here only to feel like our baby was looked at as money. We chose Rea road animal hospital and they were AMAZING.
I've been taking all of our pets here for more than 20 years. They have always been kind and gentle with our furry family members, have taken their time to listed to our concerns, have seen us quickly in urgent situations and have been sensitive to our budget constraints.
The people at Steele Creek are always professional and very supportive. My dog loves the staff. Dr. Kirkpatrick is fantastic.
The staff and doctors at Steele Creek Animal Hospital are very nice but just be very cautious. We were never really able to get a straight answer (on something as simple as what age was best to neuter our puppy after the vet was the one who brought it up to us) and always seemed to be covering themselves. I understand this is necessary sometimes but we are clearly owners who will do anything and everything for our dogs so a clear and decisive answer would have been very much appreciated. A lot of times we got an "I don't know" answer followed up with wanting to do a bunch of other tests (which were always $300+) and still no answer. After getting results of a serious health issue with our older boxer and not feeling like we were getting the answers we wanted, we got a second opinion, found a rather simple solution (that Steele Creek didn't even discuss with us) and now our boxer is doing great! One big thing that did bother me was during our time at Steele Creek we got a puppy and the minute we would walk in the waiting area (as we were there every 2 weeks for shots in the beginning) one of the staff members would come take his leash right out of our hands and take him around to show him off in the back. I completely understand that he's a puppy and cute and everyone loves puppies but ask if that's okay with the owners first. It became a little uncomfortable to have to explain to the staff that we wanted our puppy to stay with us in the waiting area and when we did we got looked at like we were absolutely crazy and the rudest people ever. We switched to another vet in the area and absolutely love him so we won't be going back to Steele Creek Animal Hospital.
Been taking my pets here for years. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. They send Birthday email, text or just call for reminder appointments. Even when I lost one of my dogs they sent a nice condolence card.
Amazing staff! Very knowledgeable administrator! I'll definitely be switching vet office!
I took my previous dog to Steele Creek AH for 14 years and she received excellent care and loved all the vets and techs. SCAH may be a tad more expensive than some other places, but to me it was absolutely good value for money. I will be taking my new dog there too.
Great vets and techs
The staff at Steele Creek Animal Hospital is above and beyond terrific. We didn't know when we chose this practice that our vet also lived across the street from us. She came to our house on occasion to ease the anxiety of our cats. When our cat had to be euthanized and we were out of town, we were comforted that our neighbor-friend-vet could be there for him in his final moments. Steele Creek Animal Hospital made us a memorial paw print to keep. The vets are knowledgeable and never guilt us into unnecessary treatments, but they always let us know every option and recommendation.
for Gods sake never take your animal there. They are just in to make money, Bathing my 12 year old rescue chow lab mix today I was thinking of this rip off joint. 7 years ago they said he needed double hip replacement for a modest $4.5k per hip followed by water aerobics. Dr, Clark trying to build her business. Took the xrays to Longs and found he had fluid on one knee from bumping the pet door. $84l. I could post a video of him chasing squirrels now. Later I took my old cat up there to have put down and I was crying and the doctor told me she knew I was out of work and while holding up the syringe asked me if I was going to be able to pay. Insensitive people. I sailed my debit card across the room and started to stick the syringe in her neck. HATE THEM STAY AWAY.
Love, love, love the doctors and nurses here....have been taking our family pets here for over 20 years. Dr. Jo Clark is so wonderful.....advanced therapeutic services, kind & compassionate care.
I have been visiting Steele Creek animal Hospital since we moved to Charlotte in July, 2011. They have earned my trust time and time again with the care, knowledge and love they show my dog. Two years ago my dog was diagnosed with diabetes; something I knew nothing about. Dr. Kirkpatrick walked me through the entire process and was always available to help me when I was unsure. In addition, she continues to treat my dog as her own; as do all the doctors in the practice. The staff is great and they make a big fuss over everyone’s pet. There’s no question they care very much about each and every pet they see every day. I can’t imagine a better practice for my dog!!
My cat received a horrible bite wound. He acted normal and kind of hid it from me until the next day when clearly something was wrong. I immediately called Steel Creek Animal Hospital. Long story short - they saw my boy that morning since it was an emergency. They did an incredible job. It's hard to find people that really care. These are those people. Edit: They saved my boy but, 1 star down for attempting to over service and oversell. I get it, it's a business but, our pets are our babies. Don't use my heart strings to drum up more business - that's just annoying.
We have 3 giant -breed rescue dogs, and we take their care VERY seriously. Even though Steele Creek is a 45-60 minute drive for us, it's well worth it. The staff is awesome and our dogs love to come. Dr Jo Clark is very thorough, and takes the time to discuss treatment options in detail so we can make informed decisions. She treats us like true partners in our dogs' care. Highly recommend!
This was our first visit to Steele Creek animal hospital with our new rescue dog. We were very pleased and impressed with the friendly staff. The facility is very clean and the decor is bright and uplifting. Dr. Amy was fantastic, it’s very clear that she loves pets. She spent allot of time talking with us and answering all of our questions. We will be using Steele Creek from now on for our pet care needs.
Always friendly. Expensive, though.
nice and clean place.
They take great care of my little pup! Love this place.
We've always had a dog and have moved quite a bit with my job so have had a variety of vets in different cities. Dr. Young is by far the best veterinarian we've ever had and we have complete trust in her skill and knowledge. Our neighbors have all been converted to Steele Creek Animal Hospital customers as well....
I absolutely love this doctor's office. They are so kind to all of my family(people and pets) Very sensitive to our recent loss. Always sends reminders so I dont forget check ups. My pets are elderly and I truly appreciate the patience and care they have for them. Thank you Steele Creek Animal. Your staff is awesome always! Anita & Tracy Pets: Sadie Bella 16, Simba 12, Pinky 14 Xoxo's
Always a great place to take your animals for excellent care
I love Steele Creek Animal Hospital ! ! We have been clients there for over twenty years and love each and every person there more than they will ever know. We moved to Monroe from Charlotte three years ago and continue to take our precious fur babies there for their care. I would not dream of taking them anywhere else. Dr Young and her staff are THE BEST ! ! We and our babies look forward to each and every visit ! !
My first time visit and I was blown away by how everyone was super friendly. I saw Dr. Shuvart and she was great. I felt she truly cared about my pup and was super helpful. Her vet assistance, Molly was super knowledgeable and helpful too. My dog didn't even know he got his shots. I also love how they have two sections one for cats and one for dogs. They also have a separate door to exit out. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. As a new customer I was super impressed. Everyone made me and my pup feel so welcomed.
I have always trusted my Bichon Frise with the Vets and staff at this practice. Everyone is extremely nice and will go out of their to make you feel comfortable enough to leave your fur baby with them. If you are serious about caring for your fur baby, this is the place for you both.
Been bringing all my pets here for 25+ years, 4 cats 1 dog. my animals have lived/live for long healthy lives because of the care they get here. This is the place for THE BEST pet care, honest, incredible doctors and super friendly staff.
Today was our first appointment here since moving to the area. I wanted to get my dog established with a new vet, get some heart worm medicine, and ask a few questions. Everyone on the staff was very welcoming as soon as we came in and Gus absolutely loved them (and all the treats he got). The vet and the techs were very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me and all my options for care. There are many vets in the Charlotte area and this one came recommend by my dog’s daycare. I am very happy I chose this location and feel very confident having them handle my pups health care needs. You can tell they truly care about animals. The vet and tech even got on the floor with Gus and made him feel very comfortable.
Amazing experiences here with my pets. We have been taking our cat here over 15 years and always felt at home. Dr. young and her staff are wonderful with making us feel right at home. We love the separate waiting areas too with dogs and cats separate. Very caring place
I drive 1.5 hour roundtrip to go to this practice. Quality care.
My dog Macaroni LOVES Steele Creek Animal Hospital. He is a rescue and has always been finicky, but gets so excited when he realizes he's going to the vet. The staff treat both our dogs so well, and Dr. McNamee is the best. She always calls to check on our animals when they're sick and you can tell all the staff members genuinely care. Vets are expensive. Owning animals is expensive. We have moved to Huntersville and could very easily go elsewhere but drive all the way down to Steele Creek because of the level of service the animals receive.
We have brought all of our animals to Steele Creek--3 dogs, cat and ferret. The entire staff knows our Collie, and treat him like a rock star every time he comes in--and he eats it up! Several years ago Dr. Young (along with a vet we loved but is no longer there) saved the life of my ferret and they checked their procedure with exotic experts prior to treatment. NO ONE thought he would recover, let alone thrive. The vet's office in another state I picked him up at before taking him home to Steele Creek told me not to waste my money because my pet "was obviously terminal..."it took months of treatment, but Dr. Young brought him back to his old self. We normally use Dr. Clark, & love her, as does my dog. Once, after I had had back surgery, she came to our house herself to pick up one of our injured dogs to bring her in to the clinic. I don't know many vet's offices who would do that-! She also always calls after we have brought our dog in for treatment to check on him, and tells us to call her anytime with questions or concerns--and actually returns the calls. The clinic does seem to have a lot of vets that kind of come and go, and there have been a couple I did not particularly care for..but I have certainly had physicians I prefer to others as well. I do wish they charged a little less, as they seem a bit on the high end. The rehab services that they do are very highly priced, but they offer a variety of approaches including more holistic treatments, and accupuncture. I have seen complaints about the attitudes of some of the staff up front (maybe partly because of high turnover), but for the most part they have been polite and usually helpful. If, in the future, our pets need surgery or a necessary procedure I probably would go for a 2nd opinion (partly due to cost)--but again, would do so with my own physicians. One thing I thought really SUCKED--I wanted a RX for heartworm meds to give to 1800PETMEDS so we could get it cheaper--and Steele Creek refused!! They said "Why would we do that when it would cause us to LOSE money??" We do buy flea and tick medicines and other misc.things online or somewhere else to save money where possible. But I am revising my rating due to more recent interactions & follow ups with the hospital. Our pets have never gone anywhere else--unless they were referred to specialists--& are noticeably reassured to see their familiar doc. Are the exams, blood work, meds & extra tests expensive? Yes. And I've heard other people speak of less costly and more expert treatment in other situations. But as long as I have a good relationship & am comfortable with the specific caregivers we use, I won't be going anywhere else.
Dr. Clarke was very kind with myself and most importantly my cat. She has a perfect demeanor with the animals that is nothing short of welcoming!
I have been going here to see Dr. Jo now for over 19 years. Almost 11 years with my Elijah & now 9 years with my Stella. I drive from Ft Mill cause my dogs love her. I trust her completely.
Awesome people. Very caring and knowledgeable staff. What’s even better is they never forget about your pet. They treat them like they were their own. They are truly a partner in the care of your pet.
They have a friendly staff and are very good with my dog. They were able to fit us in on a last minute travel change.
I thought everyone was really nice there and they have great hours to accommodate people who work long hours. However, I did feel like they did a bunch of unnecessary testing and before I even realized I can out of there with a $300 bill!!!!!!! I'm supposed to go back next week for a check up but with a $50 visit fee and other testing they will probably want to do, I might not be able to afford it.
Staff was very nice and helpful but a bit pricey
Great experience at this veterinary and great rates for services. Everyone is very caring there. I have two dogs that I have used their services for and they really go above and beyond to make sure every need is met. I also use the boarding services they offer and when I go to pick up my dog she Is very happy. . Excellent staff.
I changed from another vet to this one a couple years ago. Great place - they. Are about your fur babies and answer all (with me - a lot) questions. I love Dr. Brown; very down to earth and easy to talk to, obviously very good at what she does. The vet techs are all so sweet with our babies and understand any anxiety and concerns. Highly recommend!
Great Vet - terrible administration and bad staff training and for that reason I will not return. After reading the reviews and total lack of responses by the management to the reviews maybe its best that I never return. After you post a Google review the admin department responds to your review without contacting you to find out what the problem was. The response is then tailored to a fit a false narative. This place has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY.
Total satisfied!! Excellent service and care..such a warm place and outstanding pricing compared to others..
To state this clinic as money hungry is an understatement. They will run unnecessary lab tests and other diagnostics only to not draw a conclusion and from there prescribe medications hoping the meds help. And if not, they will prescribe more or run more diagnostics. No matter the severity or lack thereof for the reason for your visit I guarantee you will not walk out of there with less than a $300 bill. Do yourself, your pet, and your wallet a favor and check another vet in the area.
Everyone was very friendly, and they took great care of my fur baby. Pricing and recommendations were discussed before proceeding. Doc told me what could wait until later and what should be done immediately. That was much appreciated. Facility was nice and clean. The reception was laid out efficiently with separate checkin areas for cats and dogs. There was also a separate exit door from the entrance door. My dog gets nervous around other pets so this made it easier on him.
Run, don't walk away from this place! I've been going to this office for 10 years, but no more. From the minute you walk in they treat you like they are doing you a favor to let you come to their office. The front desk ignores you while you wait and you are never seen on time for an appointment. You'll also never get to see the same vet each time you go unless you can go early in the morning. Dr. Young, the best vet there, is always booked. They are never friendly and they don't greet you when you come in, they you ask you why you are there? Worse is they try to scare you or make you feel like you're neglecting your pet if you don't let them do countless unnecessary tests. They are in this for the money, not your pet's health. You'll be lucky to get out for under $200. I'm leaving because I was lied to and bullied that if I did not spend money on tests they would not renew my dog's heart worm medication! I will not be lied to and then bullied by a rude vet. There are plenty of vets in Charlotte!
We will NEVER return to this place. Unlike we did, do yourself a favor and read the reviews on here and what seems to be a recurring issue of being charged for numerous unnecessary and expensive tests. Not only was the wait time + visit a grand total of 2 hours but they were not upfront about costs and this vet was unprofessional. When you say you are going to do some blood work, let your customers know it's going to cost them about $200. The vet said he needed a clearer view of my dog's ear inside (mind you, he gets his ears cleaned at the groomers) but we didn't know until it was time to pay that it would cost us almost $30. We spent most of the 2 hours couped up in the room waiting for what was pretty much supposed to just be an annual exam/shots. They say dogs can pick up on people or places they don't like, my dog shed more than I have ever seen him shed in one sitting. He clearly hated being there as well. To top it off, the vet would only address my husband and when I asked questions, he would look to my husband to discuss them or disregard my statements. Several times my husband deferred to me when the vet asked questions because he was my dog for years before we married and it would clearly made more sense to discuss these matters with me. Run away like another person's review stated on here. This was by far the worst veterinarian experience ever, not to mention the worst since we moved to this area. There's nothing like taking your dog in and expecting a $150 bill max like all his visits have typically cost with other vets before we moved here and having an almost $500 bomb dropped on you. Shame on you guys! Update: not sure why the person below had responded there was not a male staff member. His name is Damien and he was the only vet available so this response to my post makes no sense whatsoever and feels and if it was made to discredit my post! Maybe he was a fill in or part-timer or something and if that is the case I wouldn’t recommend him coming back.
They took Great Care of my dog. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Expensive but worth it!
Very caring staff and very helpful. Anytime I have needed an appointment they have gotten me in and I trust their opinion. Well worth the money to have a vet I can trust.
I wouldn't consider another animal hospital. Appointments are easy to make, waiting time at a minimum. The premises are immaculate and personnel very friendly and attentive. Prices are well in line with the quality of services received. I have felt this way for the very many years I have taken my pets to these fine people.
A great, caring, knowledgable staff. My wife especially loves Dr. Clark!
The entire staff at Steele Creek Animal Hospital is and has always been an outstanding home of compassion, moral support and reassurance. We recently lost our precious Petite and we were deeply touched when we received a card of condolences from their staff. We know that our remaining three boys, Paceaux (Paco), Max and Peanut remain in good hands when it comes to addressing any health challenges. We are grateful.
