Here you have all the opinions of real people who purchased the services of Southpoint Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) in the area close to the state of North Carolina.
As of day this firm gets a rating of 4.8 over 5 and that rating was based on 225 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is nearly the top, and it's based on a large number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the score is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian corresponds to the category of Animal hospital.
We are so very pleased with Southpoint Animal Hospital. They are knowledgeable, convenient and they take EXCELLENT care our Fitz. Fitz does not have any anxiety when he enters the doors to the hospital because he is greeted with so much love and cheerfulness. He loves going to the vet and, as his parents, we love to take him there where they take EXCELLENT care of our baby! In our opinion, they deserve more than 5 stars! If you are a pet owner, and have not visited Southpoint Animal Hospital, you should and you will be so glad you did! I know we are!!
We have a 12 year old ESS who is blind, diabetic and has Cushing's disease. However, he might not be with us today and in the very good health he is; without the wonderful care and monitoring of Dr. Farling in particular, but all the staff at SPAH. Not only do we get excellent care but one of the technicians suggested I purchase an animal glucose monitor AND she told me the lest expensive place to purchase his insulin. I have been able to play a vital role in my pet's health because of how SPAH dispenses their care. They make you a partner with them and they help you every step of the way. I sincerely believe this has not only prolonged his life but it has enhanced our time with him as well. Add to that, that all the people who work there love animals and make you feel welcomed, special and supported. How can you beat that!!! Trisha Whelan
We just had our newest pup checked out by Dr. Farley, the third canine family member whose life we've trusted to the great team at SAH, and we have worked with just about all since they opened the practice, including Drs. Lapham, Doyle, and Blackmer, and dear and special Tim, and Kelly, Vickie, and Mark in front, NS AO Mny others on the vet tech team.. Without exception they give their best and their all with our pets and with us and the rest of the humans they must contend with, too. There is real commitment and skill in all they do, and it comes through in their joy and the love they show to those they treat. It put us at ease when they helped introduce our new puppy to life, worked hard and long to keep our now-6 year old Cooper alive through months of near-fatal illness, and supported both us and sweet Tobey to ease through the end of his life. They really do manage to live what their Mission says, providing a "partnership of pet guardian, veterinarian, and healthcare team, we provide a nurturing community that enriches lives." Thanks to you all.
Dr. Doyle is great with my 2 year old lab mix. He is very open to contacting via email and phone as well in case there is something you're uncertain about. The practice itself is clean and everyone is very friendly. Highly recommended
I've known Dr. Lapham for many years and was so happy when he opened his own practice at Southpoint Animal Hospital. I have also seen Dr Doyle on a few occasions who is a great addition to their veterinary staff. Lots of great folks ~ vet techs, nursing staff and those tending the front desk. Cannot imagine taking my critters anywhere else. Give it a go!
We have been going here for the past 1 1/2 years. Every time has been a great experience. Both Dr. Doyle and the staff are always very nice and seem to enjoy helping. I recommend them to everyone I know and meet.
Great place, great Dog Docs!
Dr. Lapham is an outstanding veterinarian. Since he opened Southpoint Animal Hospital we have tried vets closer to home, but we always end up going back to see Dr. Lapham. He has taken care of our dogs for 15 years. We highly recommend Dr. Lapham services.
Dr. Doyle and his staff are incredible. They are very caring and compassionate about their patients. We had a little trouble with a skin rash which we thought was soap related, Dr. Doyle nailed on the first visit as an allergic reaction to his food. He helped my with things to take care of his symptoms and within a week we were good to go. Thanks for everything! Steve and Bogey
An outstanding veterinarian (Dr. Lapham) operates this animal hospital. He is compassionate and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
The 45 minute drive from Fuquay is worth it and my animals will never go anywhere else. The doctors look at the whole picture of an illness, not just individual symptoms when making a diagnosis and are always available (gave me a cell phone #!!). They are extremely knowledgeable and seem current with new information. Staff is compassionate and treat each animal as if their own. Appointments are punctual and I have never waited more than just a few minutes to be seen, and the facility is very clean. Client interaction is amazing - I recently had to euthanize my cat and the staff was quiet, professional, and respectful of the situation. They gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and took each step only when we were ready. They wrapped our pet in a blanket (other vets often use a garbage bag) before putting him in the coffin, dimmed the lights, and gave us hugs and even a card. I worked as a vet assistant for many years in the past and have high standards for doctors, staff, and facilities. Southpoint Animal Hosp. exceeds expectations. I would give 10 stars if I could.
Dr. Blackmer is fabulous with a wonderful bedside manner. Low stress environment for anxious pets. Can't recommended them highly enough.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Wouldn't take our furry friends anywhere else.
Always put my concerns first. Focused on pet comfort and health
I absolutely love Southpoint Animal Hospital; I am never disappointed by the level of care they show my pets. I recently had to put my childhood pet to sleep and they couldn't have been more supportive and caring during that difficult time. I would recommend this veterinarian to anyone because they love your pet like their own.
Kind and caring.
Dr. Doyle is awesome! He is very thorough and professional. I would recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Doyle and the staff at Southpoint Animal Hospital are absolutely wonderful. My dog, Lucky, loves them and they take excellent care of him. Dr. Doyle and the team there care about your pet, they take time with them and work to make sure that your pet stays in good health. I would NEVER think about going anywhere else. They are the best.
i have "fired" quite a few veterinarians in my lifetime. if i didn't like the way i or my animals are treated i never go back again. i have finally found a clinic that i have no intention of "firing". i travel an hour to go this clinic because of the care and consideration given to my animals by the staff at SPAH. every dr. and every staff member who provided care to my animals has met and gone beyond my high expectations. i have never recommended a vet practice before now. i HIGHLY recommend this clinic for your animal's care. you will NOT be disappointed.
I could not possibly list all of the wonderful things about Southpoint Animal Hospital! The office staff is hands down one of the friendliest, and most reliable I have ever encountered. The doctors and technicians are all extremely knowledgeable, and patient with questions that may come up during visits. They are up to date on new procedures, medicines and methods. I have an older dog with arthritis issues, and they have been such wonderful resources...I feel like we are navigating my pets pain management journey together. It is not uncommon to get a call checking in to see how one of our pets are doing after an illness or injury. Due to our crazy work schedules, we have had to be flexible with what doctor is available on the date/time we need...they are all amazing, and keep each other updated. Each room has a computer in it where they can access any information they need for the visit. I cannot recommend this practice enough. They are part of our family.
My pets are my children, and I used to work in the veterinary field, so I'm rather particular about who I entrust with the well being of my pets. With that said, I am extremely grateful to have found the Southpoint Animal Hospital team to care for my furkids. Dr Lapham is amazing - I highly recommend him and the rest of the team.
Terrible experience. I am brand new to this area and my senior dog developed a cough and was acting lethargic so I called to schedule an appointment to get her checked out. They scheduled her for 2 days later as they had no appointments prior to that. Because she had a cough they asked that I call when I got to the office to have someone bring her through a side door as to not infect any other dogs (totally appreciated this). When I got there I called twice and waited 20 minutes outside for someone to come let us in. The doctor did x-rays for pneumonia which she ended up having a small case of so they gave me 2 antibiotics and cough meds. Someone from the front desk came to collect my payment but had no idea how much I owed. It ended up being quite expensive which I understand with exam, x-rays & meds but they should have known how much I was being charged prior to asking for my payment. Finally, I got home and realized I was to give her 3/4 of one pill and 1/2 of another pill only to find the pills were not cut. I went back to the office and asked to have the pills cut. The receptionist came back and said they were unable to cut them but that he could sell me a pill cutter - this was very disappointing. I had just spent a good amount of time and money and they couldn't cut the pills or give me a pill cuter. Ridiculous. Needless to say I will never be returning here.
I took my dog Lucy to Southpoint Animal Hospital for not only her first wellness visit after I adopted her, but for a couple of "sick" visits as well. I switched vets around 6 months ago due to a move which made Southpoint Animal Hospital a 30 minute drive; however, I am already regretting the switch. Not only is Southpoint Animal Hospital a clean and modern facility-the care they provide is top notch. The reception staff is always prompt and friendly, and the vet techs are always awesome with the pets. Lucy saw Dr. Doyle for all of her visits and he was amazing. He took the time to explain everything I needed to know, as I was a first time pet owner. I have actually tried two different vets since the move, and none seem to compare to Southpoint Animal Hospital. Lucy is only a year old but has had several health problems so I want to make sure she is receiving the best possible care-especially since vet visits aren't cheap. I have a feeling the drive to Southpoint Animal Hospital will be worth it :).
Open minded veterinarians. They have stand out listening skills. They are also knowledgeable in raw food diets.
Our experience with Southpoint Animal Hospital has been phenomenal. We adopted a small dog who we believe never had a home before us and was anxious around other people. The staff at SAH were able to quickly and wonderfully develop a relationship with her in a way that we thought would never happen. Our dog now enjoys going to the vet to see Lisa, who is one of the few Certified Veterinary Practice Managers in North Carolina. The rest of staff are amazing to work with, kind and caring too.
Simply the best vet in the Triangle. We live in Raleigh and it is worth the drive for the piece of mind that comes from getting the best care for your pets.
The staff here are exceptional. Never in my life have I ever met such kind, compassionate people. We just moved into the area from out of state. My kitty Bella fell I'll the first week we were here. After taking her to another practice, that only gave her nausea medication and yet cost me $150, I decided to call Southport. Boy, I'm so glad I did. Even though they had no records on Bella, and never met her.. they still saw her 2 hours after I called. I was greeted by the staff and they made sure we were seen as soon as possible. They even provided a blanket for Bella that had calming pheromones on it. They were so good to her, and did way more for her than the previous vet. When we were checking out and I was given my total, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their prices were. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone.
Nice staff
Love the people and the docs there helped our dog get better fast. Called and checked up on us 2 times and got our medicine quickly
Fantastic veterinarians and staff. I always feel confident leaving my dog(husky) here when i gave to be out of town. My favorite place to board, and then we changed care to them, as we were so impressed by their love towards our dog. They always seem excited to see us, which makes me feel confident in leaving him there. Keep up the great work (and attitudes)!
Outstanding. They take very good care of my timid girl, Ginger. She is old and has been through so much in her life, and they respect and pamper her so that she feels at ease
I love Southpoint Animal Hospital! The office staff is wonderful, caring, and efficient. It is incredibly easy to make appointments, get pet meds, and get questions answered. My two cats see Dr. Doyle, and he is great! He handles them very well and is super sweet to them. I never feel like he's rushing to another appointment- he always takes the time to talk through everything he's doing, answer questions, and make recommendations. I also really love the rest of the staff too, from the people at the front desks to the nurses to the other doctors. All of them have been very caring and loving with the cats, and they're super friendly. I highly, highly recommend this vet if you live in the area!
One of the best practices in the area. Terrific front desk staff and all three docs are awesome!!!! Very loving and caring, I never feel rushed! Thanks for being a great practice!!!
They are the best! I have been here w my 2 cats, and we all love Dr. Brian Doyle. Thanks for your advice about how to keep my cats healthy.
Nothing but good thinks to say about everything they do.
Been taking my furbaby to SPAH for over 5 years and trust them wholeheartly that I am getting best care available for my dog. Staff is always nice and vets always caring.
I have been following Dr. Brian Lapham for many years (from Raleigh to Durham) and will continue to do so whenever I have a concern about the health of one of my pets. Dr. Lapham's calm demeanor and vast knowledge is exactly what is needed for rescue animals in particular. He has treated my four rescued German Shepherds and two rescued cats over the last 10 years. Sadly, I lost one of my precious GSDs a few weeks ago. Dr. Lapham's kindness and sensitivity is always evident and greatly appreciated. Thank you Dr. Lapham ! The staff is friendly and the facility is very clean and inviting. Not only would I recommend Southpoint Animal Hospital but I have, on many occasions, most recently this past week.
Very friendly staff
Loved the veterinarian.. Mr L-great service
Impossible to write enough to say how happy we are with Dr Doyle!
Perhaps More costly, but premium quality professionals and services. Highly recomend for special needs e.g. geriatrics arthritis special breeds, have known and respect Dr Laphams expertise and love for our extra legged children for almost 2 decades + drop your pet off before work for appt or grooming and pick up after work very convient for those that work RTP
The entire team at Southpoint Animal Hospital is so friendly. My pup loves coming here!
They have always taken wonderful care of our pets. Very clean bright atmosphere and friendly staff. I'm glad I found them.
They are always nice and helpful. I appreciate that appointments run on time.
Dr. Lapham is the best vet I have ever taken any of my dogs too! He does such a thorough job and spends a good amount of time in the appointment and answers all questions! There is so much to say about his high level customer service! He is amazing! Our Pup Jersey is lucky to have such a great vet! Each visit has been a great experience! Very highly recommend Dr.Lapham! My husband and I are very pleased with our experiences here!
My dog has been cared for at Southpoint Animal Hospital since they opened at the Fayetteville Street address. The vets are incredible, and have done a fabulous job dealing with my Scottie's allergies. Dr. Lapham gave me advice on medication which saved me money, and provided better effects than what my previous vet had recommended. We have also had excellent care from Dr. Farley and Dr. Doyle. All of the folks on staff are friendly and so professional. I have also boarded Mac there many times. He loves going to SAH, and practically jumps out of his crate once the car stops in the parking lot. I absolutely tell all of my friends to switch to SAH.
Great staff, very caring!
Best vet I've ever taken my fur babies to. I take my 2 dogs and my kitten there and always have a great experience. Dr. Doyle is thorough and caring. He takes time to go over details with you and is very patient and knowledgeable. I hear the other vets there are great, too.
By far the best animal hospital in central North Carolina. We have been customers for our three pets since the first day Southpoint Animal Hospital opened and would never choose another. I'm sure there are other great veterinarians in Durham but we will never know.....
Clean, bright, and loving.
Dr Lapham is great and so are the support staff.
Took a cat we found out at the American Tobacco Trail here to get it's microchip scanned. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and did not charge for the microchip scan. Their assistance helped us to locate the cat's owners, and he is safely back with them now. We will likely be back with out own cat when he is due for his next checkup.
STAFF FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE-REASONABLE COST-DR.LAPHAM IS AWESOME. WE DRIVE OVER AN HOUR TO SEE TO SEE DR. LAPHAM EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY OTHER ANIMAL HOSPITALS ALONG THE WAY. WE LOVE THIS PLACE.
The vet services are fine, but DO NOT board your dogs here. We arranged for our two dachshunds to share one of the larger kennels (they have a "large dog" area and a "small dog" area). We requested extra blankets since they don't allow you to bring anything from home -- this was fine, as long as they had extra blankets to curl up in. We knew many things in advance: that they would be slightly short-staffed since it was a holiday weekend and that no one (obviously) would be spending the night with them. All of this was fine with us. One of our dogs had spinal surgery 6 months prior and we just wanted them to be in a vet instead of a typical boarding environment so professionals could keep an eye on her. When we picked them up our little boy dog was a complete skeleton while our little girl, the one who had been given spinal surgery and needed to stay trim, had gained significant weight. Keep in mind that they were only boarded for a few days. This significant of a change led us to believe that the boy hadn't eaten a thing out of nervousness while the girl ate all of his food. Something like this should be monitored in such a small place. They didn't even mention it when we left! It was horrible. We had to switch food and everything to get the boy to gain weight and it took nearly a month for him to start to look normal again. Every single family member and friend commented on it as soon as they saw him. I'm just worried about what would have happened if we had let him stay there for more than a few days. On top of all this, they were so hoarse they couldn't bark properly for a week. We were deeply disappointed in this and will now be looking elsewhere for both veterinary care and boarding care. The vet services were fine, but when they do something so careless, it's just not worth using them for anything.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Our pup loves to visit
Friendly people, but also a bit more pricey
Been taking my puppy here since his first ever vet visit, and he loves it every time! Excellent, excellent vet!
I drive almost an hour to see Dr. Lapham and his staff at Southpoint animal Hospital. Hands down the best!
Recently, my dog became suddenly ill. In the middle of the busy day, Dr. Doyle took my call to help determine what might be ailing Brody. Dr. Doyle then offered to meet us at the end of the day, as a walk-in, to diagnose Brody's problem. The resolution to the problem would require sedation. Dr. Doyle completed the procedure during his lunch hour the next day. Thankfully, Brody is fully recovered and happy. Dr. Doyle always takes time explain what is going on with Brody. He is patient and gentle with Brody always working to create a comfortable atmosphere for the examination. I could not ask for a more professional and positive experience with a veterinarian. I leave each visit happy that Brody is receiving quality care. I greatly appreciate that he does not encourage over-vaccination. The front office staff is always organized, professional, and efficient. The follow up phone calls to see how Brody is doing the day after a visit demonstrate the quality of care offered at Southpoint Animal Hospital. The ability to request appointments online is an added convenience. I will continue to use Southpoint Animal Hospital as long as I live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.
Dr. Lapham and his staff at Southpoint are wonderful. We actually had to hunt Dr. Lapham down after he left the practice where we initially met him. Our family would recommend Southpoint Animial Hospital to anyone!!! We have especially enjoyed the fact you can have an actual conversation with the doctor while your pet is being examined. Dr. Lapham always offers insight in how to handle some issues without medication where appropriate. We always enjoy our trips to their office and even though they don't act like it, Lucy, Panda and Bailey probably do too.
Great practice...I trust the vets and find their advice very valuable. Everything from separation anxiety to reverse sneezing. Nice clean office and very friendly front desk staff. Started going there after my vet office was closed on a Saturday for an emergency visit and SPAH was open. Great place!
Southpoint Animal Hospital is the best veterinary practice in Durham. I live on the other side of town and I won't go anywhere else. I can tell it's a good place to work because everyone is always professional and positive. Dr Lapham doesn't perform any unnecessary procedures. I like his conservative approach to caring for my dog. I can highly recommend.
Dr. Brian is the best of the best!!!!!! I have greyhounds and get very nervous about their care. Dr. Brian knows all the quirks of my ex-racers and I just love him. We get acupuncture too! Thanks Dr. Brian.
Friendly staff, great vets, clean facility.
I found SPAH online, as my Charlie had been having a tough time with his tummy for several days, and the other two vets in the area that I consulted could not figure out the problem. Charlie and I walked into SPAH without knowing anyone there, just simply seeking a third opinion. As it turns out, SPAH ended up saving Charlie's life with emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction. Dr. Doyle knew immediately what was going on, and without hesitation cleared his schedule to make sure Charlie got the surgery right away. He showed me the x-rays, clearly and carefully explained all of the procedures, and kept me informed throughout the surgery and the recovery. I have never, ever worked with a veterinarian that went SO far above and beyond to care for my pet. My Charlie will never go anywhere else but SPAH from now on!! Words can't express our gratitude!!!
They treat my dog very well. They give me helpful information when I ask for advice. The clinic itself is very clean.
Nice vet. Open late on Thursday (until 8pm).
It's not a location convenient to my house, but I don't want to go anywhere else. Since my dogs first visit as a rescue 3+ years ago, he has been a patient and boarder at Southpoint Animal hospital. The vets and others who work at Southpoint Animal Hospital have been fantastic in every way.
Great staff!! They really care about their patients. Won’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend!!
Very friendly staff, always accommodating to my pup's needs. She loves coming here because of all the attention they give her, and the treats too. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
We have been going to Southpoint Animal Hospital for years, we followed Dr. Lapham from Raleigh to Durham when he made the move. We drive 30 minutes, when we have several vets to choose from within five minutes, because of the compassion that Dr. Lapham shows for our dog/s and us. Dr. Lapham always lets my son assist with the exams and explains things to him. When we are out of town Dr. Lapham is easy to get in touch with at the office, through email or by cell if we have any problems. Also, when my girl passed away Southpoint made a donation in her name. I could never imagine going to another vet.
Dr. Blackmer is wonderfu! Warm, considerate, full of care and fabulous at communicating with dogs. She won the trust of my very scared older dog and my gratitude very quickly. The chiropractic work she did, complemented with suggestions for a stretching exercise and oral homeopathic remedy have worked wonders in a short period of time.
I recently had an opportunity to see the behind the scenes functioning here, as a photographer. I was blown away by every detail of the functioning of this place. These people truly love animals. The sanitation is impeccable. The general operational organization gave me serious business goals. I was so impressed.
If you live in the triangle and you are going anywhere other than Southpoint Animal Hospital, you are making a mistake. Both Dr. Doyle and Dr. Lapham are exceptional. Dr. Blakmer is new with SPAH but she is terrific as well. She is super kind!!!! The office staff (especially Lisa, Tim, Vickie and Jare) is exceptional as well. They are eager to help in any way that they can. You really can't go wrong with going to SPAH. If you want the best care you can find, this is the place!
My dog struggled with an ear infection for about a year before I brought him to Southpoint Animal Hospital. His old vet kept insisting it was his food and prescribed him expensive food and drops that did nothing. It took them 15 minutes to figure out the issue and the infection was gone within 2 weeks without having to spend my life savings on dog food. Remington and I are super grateful for Dr Blackmer and Dr Elise for all their help. The front office and the vet techs are all insanely polite and helpful too! I moved recently but still drive 30+ minutes to come here because I trust them so much.
This clinic is full of compassion. I found a stray dog and they helped me house her for the first three days, covered her bills during that time and supported me when I officially adopted her. They did not know me as I was a fairly new client. Their vets and vet techs are superb. Highly recommend!
We love Dr. Elise! My cats Chaplin and Gatsby have been going here since they were kittens. Gatsby is so comfortable he just falls asleep.
Excellent vet practice. The vets are up-to-date on issues related to your pet's health and are open to learning new material that clients bring to their attention. I have always gotten great health care for my dogs here, but recently was extra impressed at their handling of my dog's death (natural causes). The staff were loving and kind and followed up in a compassionate, sincere way. I recommend them heartily to any one looking for animal care that is current, progressive, and respectful.
Great office with super friendly staff! Dr. Elise is extremely personable and it shows how much she cares that your pet recieves great care!
Just had our first visit after moving to the area and couldnt be more happy and satisfied with the care and attention shown by the staff at SAH. From the reception, to the assistants, to the vet, all were extremely friendly, helpful and considerate. All options for evaluation and treatment were laid out and no pressure was applied to make expensive choices. Extremely happy to have found such a wonderful new practice for our dog.
Expensive. But great service
I can't say enough about Southpoint Animal Hospital. The staff is always so warm and friendly both on the phone and when we come in for our visits. Dr. Lapham is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. I am never rushed through my visits and he always takes the time to answer all of my questions (and I always have a ton), listen to my concerns, educates me on issues, and he has a sincere, genuine love for his patients. My boys and I are fortunate to have such a great staff looking after us!
I have had the opportunity to use Southpoint when both my dogs were healthy but when they both got sick at the same time for separate reasons the compassion and caring from all the doctors and staff has been extraordinary not only for dogs but for myself and my husband. When it was time to say goodbye to one of our precious boys they made it as comfortable as possible for all of us and we can never thank them enough for still helping us deal with our grief which is beyond of their normal duties. Dr. Doyle who is our regular vet at Southpoint has the patience of a saint with our rescue and spends the extra time with our other dog and in fact their nursing staff there is so fantastic that they can take blood and do other test which other places cannot because of his fear aggression. They do alternative medicine there which does work - we are skeptical - but they made us believers. We've been using Southpoint Animal Hospital for years and if you are looking for a Family vet - I would highly recommend this place.
Lynn the behaviorist is great with training my pup!
I took a friend there to have her very sick dog put down. The level of care and compassion shown to her and Beau was amazing. It is a very busy practice with dogs coming and going all the time. If I had a pet I would take him or her there
After several years of taking our dogs to Southpoint Animal Hospital, my wife and I no longer recommend them. The staff are so often rude and dismissive that the experience has become unacceptably unpleasant. A recent trip to pick up medication for one of our dogs turned into a waste of time when, upon arriving only three minutes after closing time, no one would help us fill the prescription, even after informing them that due to the Christmas holiday this would be our last chance to do so for a week's time. This pleading fell on deaf ears, meaning that we either wait on the medication or rearrange our plans. This was the latest but not the first act of apathy on the part of staff members, and the attitude of staff is not particular to one or two persons, but endemic. One doctor in particular, Dr Lapham, has been a godsend for us--he is helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and courteous. But the rude and dismissive nature of his staff give me pause about ever setting foot in the facility again.
I have always left here feeling assured that my pit bull mix Stacie has received the quality care that I want her to have. Everyone that I have dealt with at Southpoint seems engaged, genuine and kind. Highly recommended. They are also really good at explaining what treatments are essential today versus recommended in the coming months. That's really important for the times that money is tight.
Dr Blackmer, the nurses and vet techs, and the staff are excellent. They truly care about not just the physical health and well-being of my cats, but also their overall experience of being at the vet. One of my cats is a very difficult patient and Dr Blackmer does everything she can to ensure a safe and successful visit that reduces stress for my cat as much as possible. I appreciate the care and attention shown to my pets here!
What a relief to find a Veterinarian who encourages raw feeding and assists us with managing it, versus the pompous jerk at Preston who belittled just about our entire approach to raising dogs based on his fresh vet education. I'm happy to find our final animal hospital!!
I love Dr. Lapham. He takes a lot of time with my dog. He will even answer questions by email which is very handy. Great place for my dog!!!
You couldn't find better care--or more caring people--than at Southpoint Animal Hospital!
Some of the nicest staff I have ever dealt with. When our pup was sick the vet followed up a day later to check up on her.
I'm new to Durham & hadn't established a primary vet for my cat April. I was concerned when my cat wasn't acting like herself. Southpoint Animal Hospital was the closest place to my house so I took her there. Immediately they treated me like family and examined April. Unfortunately she was sicker than I originally thought, but Dr. Elise and her staff treated her with the utmost respect and helped me say goodbye to my sweet friend. Thankful for their time & concern. They treated me and April like family from the very beginning. I'm not ready for another pet right now, but when I am - they will be cared for at SPAH.
Great staff!
We love SAH for their approach to animal health, common sense decisions, and compassion for our pets. They value wholistic animal health and support conventional and alternative protocols within the comfort level of pet owners. Docs and staff take time to know the animals and owners. The boarding facility is great, just not big enough (make reservations early!)!
Great people and great doctors
Great service and compassionate people.
The entire staff is polite, courteous and caring. Dr Lapham and Dr Doyle are outstanding!!!!!!!
Great, caring, knowledgable veterinarian care! We always have a great experience with our furry loved ones, and leave feeling reassured.
As always Dr. Lapham takes his time answers all my questions and spends lots of time with my dog making sure all is well. All the staff is amazing and they are very friendly and knowledgeable. Would not take my Winchester anywhere else! They are the best!
Awesome services
Great care and concern for our pet!
Me and my family just moved back here from Japan and bought our Oki-Mix dog with us as well. We live down the street from Southpoint Hospital, and decided to go here as opposed to searching all over Durham for a place to see our dog. After reading other reviews we gave it a go, all I can say is that I was completely blown away about how friendly every one of the staff members were as well as knowledgeable. Dr. Doyle was amazing as well and very knowledgeable, he was able to answer any and all my questions and put my mind to ease about what I asked. The team here defiantly care about their jobs, the animals, and the customers. If you are looking for a place to care for your 4-legged family member this is the place. AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Dr. Doyle is a god sent! I'm so incredibly thankful for him. He was there every step of the way through my baby's final stages! I trust no other vet with my babies care. I'm getting a new puppy and he will see no one else besides Dr. Doyle!
Dr. Doyle is the best veterinarians I ever meet. When he speaks to you without stepping out of his oath. He will say things to you as if these were his dogs.
I love this vet! They are awesome and love my pups almost as much as I do. Dr. Lapham is awesome and always explains everything when I ask. They answer all questions and really have your pets best interest in mind.
We've brought our pets here ever since they opened their doors. Worth a drive to see Dr. Lapham and the staff here. Fantastic care at reasonable cost.
Dr. Lapham has been treating my pets for over 10 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The atmosphere at Southpoint is always calm and welcoming, the surroundings are geared toward the comfort of four-legged patients and the staff is always knowledgeable; they sincerely care about the well being of our furry children. Unexpectedly, their prices are well within reason and they don't ever tell you that your pet needs something unnecessary. Treat your pet and yourself by choosing a veterinary clinic that is truly a cut above the rest!
Best veterinary practice hands down! Very progressive doctors, great staff, wonderful blend of western and holistic type medicine. Great care from Dr. Lapham who understands vaccines and takes time to purchase the cleanest ones available. He also educates folks on care for pets to enhance their lives. Everything from food to health issues. We love this vet and only trust our pets here because our pets are NOT pets, they are family.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the Veterinarians at Southpoint. They have taken care of my animals for years. Recently my cat had a terrible bout with Bladder stones and required frequent and intensive care by Dr. Doyle. He guided me through some very tough times with my very sick cat but he believed in his method and stuck with me through it all. It even came to the point that it looked like my cat would need surgery to make an incision to make the opening larger for him to pee. But the morning of the surgery my prayers and all who were praying for my cat were answered with a 7:30 Am call by Dr. Doyle to me. He said " Flower has just peed a whole litter box of urine so I cannot say that I should go ahead with the surgery in light of his progress this morning." I will always be grateful to Dr. Doyle for he could have chosen to make money and ignore the situation at hand especially since he had taken so much time with me on phone calls at no cost to me. It would have been so easy to go ahead with the surgery anyway and not tell me he had peed, make the extra revenue and rid himself of the problem. But he did the right thing for my cat,,,not for himself. He earned my total trust that day. I will say that Flower is now totally healed with the right diet and care as instructed by Dr. Doyle. I have a very happy cat and I am a happy camper! Update 2 years layer: Flower continues to have no bladder stones and we are very happy. I love all the vets!
While visiting a friend in Raleigh my dog had an emergency and she took me to Southpoint Animal Hospital. Dr. Doyle, the newest Vet at the practice attended to my dog. He is incredible. After 18 months of my dog being misdiagnosed he found the underlining problem. My Vets at home were not negligent but Dr. Doyle continued with testing until the found that my pup has Addison's Disease. Thank you Dr Doyle, now I just have to figure out a way to get you to move closer to us. Until then you will continue to be the primary vet for managing Jimmy Choo's disease even though you are 5 hours away! God Bless you and continue to do the great work that you do.
Southpoint Animal Hospital is the best vet practice that I have ever been to. We take both of our dogs to Southpoint. We see both Dr.Doyle and Dr.Lapham. The building itself is very clean. The vets spend a lot of time with you addressing all of the issues that you have with you pet including behavioral issues. They are not quick to choose expensive or unnecessary treatments. The appointment times are also very convenient. After seeing Dr.Doyle our rescue dog who has a lot of orthopedic problems became a new dog. He put her on pain management and helped create a detailed physical therapy plan. Our puppies behavior has completely changed she is very happy now and acts like a puppy. Thank you to everyone at Southpoint!
When one of my pack was diagnosed with renal disease, I was devastated. The compassion by the DVM's and all of the staff was so helpful, as was the integrative approach to disease management. We have a plan, and I really appreciate having such a supportive extended health team for my girl.
Good friendly doctors
This is the best vet experience you could hope for! Dr. Lapham is super knowledgeable, kind, and really understands the needs of the pet and owner. I wish I could give them more stars!
I recently moved to Durham with my two yorkies. Last week when one of them got sick, I was able to get a same day appointment to see the vet. The staff were all very friendly and the vet took a thorough look at my dog. She even spotted a problem with a baby tooth that our last vet in FL never noticed. I will definitely be taking both dogs here for their checkups and anything else that might come along.
So happy to find SAH. Love the staff and love Dr L.
I was TEN MINUTES late for an appointment because my cat ran off and I could not find him anywhere. I was told I had missed my appointment and I would have to reschedule. Because I was TEN MINUTES late. So obviously the two hours I wasted getting off work again and making another trip the vet with my cat was worth far less than the TEN MINUTES inconvenience to the vet. This is a very arrogant attitude and they have lost a customer.
I am outrageously picky about the veterinary care my animals receive, and I have not been disappointed by the staff at Southpoint Animal Hospital. Dr. Brian Doyle in particular is smart, responsive, attentive, and really interested in my animals and our overall family's experience with them. He has kept my
I am so impressed with this vet! My dog and I see Dr. Rachel. She's very into evidence based practice, and is always willing to discuss the current research and the pros and cons of each procedure. Can be a little pricey, but is 100% worth it!
They never make us wait, and they always take great care of Cooper!
Dr. Lapham is the BEST!! My little boy is over 16 years old.
Southpoint Animal Hospital is wonderful - the dedicated staff shows just how much they love and respect animal lives - they are compassionate and professional - you couldn't ask for a better Vet then Dr. Lapham - I live almost an hour away - but because of the trust I have in Southpoint it is worth the drive.
Fabulous, highly competent veterinarians and staff who truly seem to care about our pets, and our pets love them too. Excellent mix of traditional and holistic veterinary methods. Highly recommended.
Dr. Blackmer saw Sloan for a 2nd opinion about a spot on his belly. She was kind and professional. Quickly got some cells from it and determined what it was, told me all the options, and together we came up with a treatment plan that I was really satisfied with. I could tell she had a great level of expertise which made me feel more comfortable. SPAH staff is always very courteous and helped ease my fears. I felt Sloan was in good hands!
Dr. Brian Doyle always does an amazing job with our two greyhounds. He explains everything clearly without dumbing it down at all. His plan of action is always careful while still minimizing the need for unnecessary costs to us. If he owes us a follow-up call we can always count on getting it, even if it is well after normal business hours. Anytime something happens to one of our dogs, I actually feel my nerves calm when we schedule the appointment because I know Dr Doyle will get us fixed up!
Dr. Blackmer and Dr. Hattingh are top notch. This is a more expensive vet than others, bit the care is worth it. These two Doctors are the best in the biz. Puppy approved!
With 2 aging dogs and 3 cats under their wonderful care over the last few years, I have had plenty of opportunity to avail myself of their services and I can say without hesitation everyone there is extraordinary!
Wonderful team. Called them as soon as they opened with my puppy needed emergency surgery and they did everything they could to work her in. Everyone was compassionate and kind. As soon as we walked through the door there were 5 team members rushing to get things ready for her (i compared them to the avengers, haha) I believe we will be switching over to this office for all of our vet needs, thank you!
Thank you, Dr. Brian Lapham, we value your business relationship!
They take wonderful care of my pet and the vet we go to helped me with a step by step plan so that my dog lost her overweight status.
So far the experience was good
Excellent staff!
Very good vets!
So glad I found Southpoint Animal Hospital,it was the most at ease my dog has ever been at the vet. I came to see Dr. Farling through a friend's referral and it was one of the best things I could have done for my pet. From the time we walked in, everything went smoothly. Dr. Farling and the entire staff were incredibly helpful, knowledgable, and kind.
I dropped off a stool sample for my dog on a Friday. The young woman at the front desk made a snarky remark "people who drop off samples on a Friday...". That was uncalled for. If this vet doesn't want samples dropped off on Fridays, then there should be a written policy given to pet owners.
Staff and vets are extremely nice, fun, and genuinely care about your pet's well-being.
Always helpful, friendly, knowledgeable service.
Dr. Elise and staff are all amazing! They are extremely thorough, approachable, will break things down to facilitate understanding, are mindful of the financial side and give customers options. I could not be more impressed and after our experience here, I would not trust Sammy to be anywhere else! I cannot thank them enough!
Dr. Elise is great!
Definately the best Vet I have been too and will stick with! I took my german shephard here and I got the appointment the day of which was great. The photos of the animals brought great detail and atmosphere of the Vet was very clean and staff was friendly. Would recommend to anyone.
Dr. Brian is the best. He is knowledgeable of difficult breeds and is great with the dogs. His expertise in Holistic Medicine and Accupuncture has helped my pet greatly. BEST IN DURHAM!
Awesome staff!
They provide the best care for my German Shepard! This is a very clean and safe place to bring your pets. The staff are very professional and pleasant, the docs are amazing and so knowledgeable. This place gets five stars all day. I trust recommend this place if your looking for great compassionate Care for your pets. Thank you so much for all you do.
I take my dog here. The vets are patient and explain everything.
I went there with a friend and his dog. The staff members were so very kind, acknowledging, and smiling as soon as we entered. What a lovely place to bring your animals.
I’m very new to the area and was looking for a vet with good reviews and came across southpoint animal hospital. The staff is so friendly, and Dr. Doyle truly has a gift with animals. He’s clearly very knowledgeable as well as charismatic. I originally came in to have my dog neutered but backed out last second due to some concerns I had, and everyone was very understanding. I scheduled a follow-up appointment to discuss the pros and cons of neutering, and was very pleased with the information and honesty the vets provided me with. As of now, I highly recommend this vet practice.
These guys are great. Dr. Doyle put my mind at ease when I came in concerned about a lump I found on my dog. We board here often and my two dogs just love "puppy camp". They get tons of love and care while they are there. I recommend SPAH to anyone looking for a great vet in the Durham area.
Staff and vets are friendly and efficient-I don't get the warm and fuzzies from them but they are by no means rude. My pets are treated well and the cost seems fair compared to other vets we've used.
Wonderful clinic. Everyone I've encountered at SPAH has been friendly and helpful. They also make a point to recognize every animal's importance-- both in general as a living being and also as someone's best friend/pet. I love that they announce each patient's arrival and who they are there to see. The facility is very nice and clean. My kitty is older and has been several times for "sick visits" -- a vomiting/food allergy issue (resolved!), regular check-ups, and to get her teeth cleaned. She's seen Dr. Brian Doyle for every visit-- I've requested him each time I've called for an appointment because we liked him so much at the initial visit. I would feel comfortable seeing one of the other vets if Dr. Doyle was not available; I've heard great things about them from friends who take their pets to SPAH. I'm always impressed with Dr. Doyle's ability to put my sometimes (often?) ornery cat at ease, especially when she's in an unfamiliar place. She's gotten really great care from him; he takes the time to explain her health issues to me, answer my questions, and then works with me to come up with a plan that best meets her needs. He also follows up via email or phone to check on her progress/aftercare if the reason for her visit was not routine.
