Local vet I'd say the best around. Doesn't rush hears u out will work with payments if needed. My dog is 12 and has been going since 8weeks old. At 7 I noticed s lump tested for cancer and with the helpful watch of the bet we decided to amputate and prolong her life. 5 yrs later she's stronger than ever as a 3 legged young adult. Can't say enough good things about this office
An injured bird was turned in to the hotel I work at. After calling the aspca and other various wildlife phone numbers and getting the run around, I was instructed to take the bird to Roanoke Vet Clinic in Manteo. I was told to leave the bird in the cage behind the building, but also to try and knock on the door as someone might still be there to take it in. After I arrived, Dr. Grossman delightfully answered the door and very kindly welcomed at us in with the injured bird. He immediately began examining it and was questioning its species, but said the little guy didn't look too bad. He began preparing some antibiotics to give the bird and told us that we could call back within a few days to get an update. I'm sure they get this type of scenario all the time, and I wasn't sure what to really expect and if it would be a nuisance to them, but Dr. Grossman pleasantly surprised me and he reaffirms my decision to keep taking my personal pets to this vet clinic. Their compassion for animals is immeasurable. Totally impressed and love this vet clinic! Side note: I've been taking my dog to this vet for four years since moving to the area and have been extremely pleased with their services.
It's always stressful when your pet doesn't feel well, but when you're away from home, it's even more stressful. Thank you to Dr. Burkart for answering my after-hours call; thank you to Angie and the receptionist staff for "fitting us in" during a very busy part of the day; and special thanks to Dr. Elliot for treating our dog, Jack! If you ever have a need veterinary services while visiting the Outer Banks, I would highly recommend scheduling your appointment with Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. They are kind, compassionate, fair, and very competent.
Very nice vet. Treated me AND my pet great!
They love their patients. So good to my Bella.
Only veterinarian we would take our bunny for routine trims and checkups...awesome people, also the only emergency vet that could help us on the outer banks after hours. Very kind and helpful, you are appreciated in so many ways....
Great place for your members of your family that have a lot of hair.We bring our turtles to our dog's and our meow members. Treat and care about your family pets.
Excellent, friendly , knowledgeable people
Very curtious,thorough,caring...etc.
Dr. Grossman is the greatest vet around. He is very passionate and kept us informed through the entire process of our chocolate Labrador broken femur. It was a complicated brake and he did an outstanding surgery procedure on our dog. We couldn't be more pleased with his skill and his honest and comforting consultations throughout the entire process. OBX is blessed to have such a great vet. Thanks again ! our dog Bella is doing great!!!!
Dr. Hayes is one of the most caring and compassionate vets I have ever worked with.
Absolutely a great vet. Recommended by a friend. They were right great place.
Best place for dogs. Not only are the vets top notch but the Front office is out of this world!!!
Great vets. Quite knowledgeable and treat your furbabies like family.
Great place to take care of your pets.
We had an emergency situation with our lab while vacationing in Hatteras Roanoke Island Animal Hospital was the closest emergency vet that had an xray machine. They met us at midnight to diagnose the problem. Dr Elliot and Mary were great! After an over night, fluids and multiple xrays we were pleasantly surprised at the final bill too. Highly recommend this clinic!
This practice is 5 star. Both DR Grossman and his wife Mary are both vets and as pleasant and knowledgeable as all get out. The kids behind the desk are just wonderful. They took care of my dog from the time she was a puppy, and then they tried to save her when she was attacked by a larger dog. They were just wonderful. I am taking my new puppy there tomorrow. Can't wait to see all of them. Fran Grossman - Corolla, NC
Fantastic place, staff and doctors were so friendly and VERY knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend!
Best veterinary clinic I've ever been to.
Caring accommodating staff. Dr.Grossman went out of his way to x-ray, immobilize our labs shoulder when he broke it while we were on vacation. He even helped find an orthopaedic vet to put him back together again.Dr Grossman your kindness will not be forgotten!
Great doctors they do great things
Dr. Grossman is a wonderful person who has companion he saved my dogs life and I love that he actually examined my dog very thoroughly he was very sweet and caring to All animals ,he takes in Wildlife even Turtles that are injured .I think he's the best veterinarian left in this world that gives a crap about the animals and not money kudos to you Dr. Grossman the animals into the people who are in a bind thank you for your kindness I am forc
They were great, even after my crazy cat tried to attack them!
Great folks!!!
Best Vet in the County!
The best by far. I have called them in the middle of the night and got a response
We switched from Martin's Point after going there for years even against people's advice that they charged high. We switched to Roanoke Island get a TON cheaper bill and the Docs are all amazing and great people!
They are always are good to our pets. We have mainly dealt with Elliott and could not be happier to have him as our vet!
Caring professionals.
They are the most knowledgeable and caring group I have ever dealt with. Love them and trust them from beginning to the end of my furbabies lives
Best Vet in the OBX. Very busy though for this reason. The doctors are excellent
There is not enough amazing things I can say about this place to express the gratitude for all the staff, especially the man himself, Dr. G. I have 6 rescues; Dr. G and all the staff made my fur family more comfortable than any vet they have ever been to, which really means a lot to my fur kids, because some of their past. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone as Dr. G and the staff here really care and it shows! The facility is clean and comfortable and all the staff is absolutely amazing! Our family is very happy we found Roanoke Island Animal Clinic!
Close and good vets.
Weekend emergency call was answered immediately, and the subsequent procedure later that week was handled very professionally. Thanks!
Great service nice people. Awesome! Thanks!
Awesome veterinarian practice!
We had an unfortunate event involving a fox vs our pet duck. I called and the staff said to come on in even though they were closed. They were respectful and kind as they broke the bad news and put our little guy to sleep at no charge. Very good people. This was the only time I have been there.
This is the only place I like to take my dogs because they're very good people and I take very good care of your animals
Only place I would take my beloved fur baby! They love our pets
My boyfriend and I were vacationing in the Outer Banks, when our sweet girl fell very ill. Since Sasha is a 10 year old American Bulldog, we were extremely scared and called the Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. Though the office was booked with appointments, they allowed us to come as an emergency visit. We were truly anticipating the worse. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, took the best care of our girl, and were emotionally supportive the entire time. A HUGE thank you to Dr. Elliot and team!! Thank you so much for everything!!
Great experience.
Great and caring staff! Quick and friendly! Highly recommend
Love, love, love doctor Grossman! He is great and takes his time to get to know you and your animals. I have never met a doctor this committed to him patients.
Dr Grossman is a genuinely Great person. If you ever have an emergency take your dogs, cats, monkeys what ever animal here. They will do payment plans and he will work with you. Remember this is a business and they have to make a profit. As far as service it’s top notch and the people are amazing!
I totally forgot that you are open 24/7 and could be called for emergencys. I have your No. on the fridge and its comforting to know you and your staff will be there if we need you. Thanks Dr. Burkhart for taking care of my beautiful cat Sebastian, and yes you are an angel. Its so sad to me that all Vets. don't have the animals best interest at heart and are only in it to take advantage of of the love owners have for their pets and charge ridiculous amounts. Its apparent you and your staff love what you do, and do what you love. God bless all of you. As for Coastal Animal Hospital who charged me $2367.06 and referred me to a surgeon in Virginia, well I'll have to pray for them for sure.
Knowledgeable and caring vets and staff
Best vet for 50 miles!
If you love your pets, this is where you want to take them.
Amazing place. Dr.Elliot and his team saved my goats life! Very friendly, the best service! Was an after hours call, they didn't act rude or aggravated, they were so welcoming, and friendly and had the best interest in helping my goat, even being a small animal vet hospital! I will forever go here!
Very happy with their quick response to my dog's illness. They are our new permanent Vets.
Every time my family has had to take one of our dogs to the vet the staff is so wonderful! Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to one of our babies a few years ago. They do the absolute sweetest thing when we said goodbye to our Halo. We still have the inlrint of her paw at home. Now that I live on the OBX full time I will definitely be taking my pets here.
None better anywhere!!
Staff is caring and takes time to spend with my dog to get to know her and answer all of my questions and go over test results in a way I can understand. Will never use another vet.
Best Vet on the Banks. Great care, very compassionate, thorough. If they did hoomans they would be my docs.
Friendly staff and professional
Professional and experienced staff!
We came for a week vacation and forgot the antibiotic for my dog. They had my vet fax the prescription and we were able to quickly pick it up!
Moved here an brought my dogs in and the vet saw them in another room without me. Then our female had problems with birth and they wanted full payment before I could her and the puppies back . Who's got that kinda money. Finally worked out a payment plan but refused to see my dogs again until my account was paid in full. I now drive a hr an half back to my old vets office !
Best Vets you can find. Loving & caring to you & your pet. They cannot be beat! Thank you for all you do!!
There is no other place in OBX to take your treasured pet for routine health care or unexpected emergencies! Dr. Burkhart and staff treat you and your furry friend like family! They are available after hours for emergencies and also do wildlife rehab on a limited basis.
Great staff
Nice service
Caring...competent...professional
Took my puppy here to get neutered and they were super friendly and took wonderful care of my fur baby
What a wonderful veterinary practice ! We are vacationing in Rodanthe & needed our dog seen for a post surgical problem today . I called at 8am & was told to bring him right in & they would see him between their scheduled patients. The staff we’re all so friendly & caring .we were seen within an hour . Dr Elliot was so friendly and respectful of our nervous dog and calmed him for his exam and injection. I wish this office was in Chicago ! Kudos to all of you thank you
Wonderful, caring staff!
We have taken all our pets here for fifteen years. The vets, vet techs, and office staff are always friendly and helpful. They have come to the office in the middle of the night in a snowstorm on an emergency call for one of our dogs. They carry a full range of food and meds, so we get everything we need for our pets in one place. I highly recommend RIAC.
These folks are awesome. Been taking my pup here for years and they've always taken great care of her. She boards here, gets groomed here, and gets her care with them. Recently had a bout with Pancreatitis and, after about a week, she finally came home today, and should be fully recovered in no time. Thank you to Dr Sara Beth, Dr Grossman, and the entire staff for taking care of her as if she were their own. Highly recommend them!
I’m a retired VP/GM of a World’s Biggest Pharma & a Biochemist, by trade. I’ve been in hundreds of primary care offices & hospitals. That said, The Staff is highly competent and responsive On top of all that, they always respond to pro bono Wildlife Vet Care. It’s A Remarkable Team
Dr. Grossman and staff are hands down the best! Kind, compassionate, knowledgeable. Wouldn't dream of taking my fur babies anywhere else.
Best vet on the OBX
Great veterinarians!! Wonderful with my dogs.
My Vet away from home. I live in Clemmons NC but visit OBX once or twice a year, I wouldn't take my fur family any where else.
The best of the best. Had an 911, and our shep got the best treatment. Couldn't be happier and more amazed by the quality care for all pets, exoctic, & wild life ones too!
This is the best animal hospital. Everyone is so friendly and very helpful and informative with your fur baby. Highly recommend.
Don’t look any further, don’t ask any more questions, they are incredible!!! Just go to them! They saved our dog’s life! This is the vet you want! 5 stars is not enough! (Preface: I’ve spent over 35 years in emergency services, for humans, and worked with “everyone” from the new bee to the most expertise of trauma surgeons. Needless to say this rating does not come lightly) Now for the story. While on vacation our 2+ year old Samoyed developed what we believed was bloat around 9:00pm (yes the office was closed so we called the emergency line.... yes they opened for the emergency). A quick call to the emergency line put us in touch with Dr. Elliot. After describing the symptoms he requested we meet him at the office in 10 minutes, which (yes driving the speed limit) we did. We where met by Dr. Elliot in the parking lot. After a 30 second assessment (plenty of time), it was directly to the X-ray table. An instant diagnosis of bloat was confirmed and he attempted all less-invasive treatment options before surgery. As the seconds turned to moments, Dr. Mary arrived to assist. As she entered the office and continued her assessment it was quickly identified that life saving surgery was essential. (From the medical field... the “golden rule” is one hour from incident to the surgical table), yes they clearly beat that! It was clearly evident that the tenured years of knowledge, experience, skillset and confidence was abounding! With IV fluids running, quick, efficient calculations where conducted, anesthesia was administered, the patient was prepped and surgery was performed. His abnormalities were corrected and he was sutured back up and the procedure was successful! Yes he spent 2 nights there (surgery wasn’t completed until around 11:30pm) so he needed the extra night. To follow up on our amazement was when we walked in to see him the next day. While the office was bustling with “patients” both Dr. Elliot and Dr. Mary spent time with us to discuss everything. Besides finding new doctors for our fur babies when we are in Nags Head... I feel as though we have made new best friends and family members. We can’t wait to come back and let them see our boy fully recovered.
The best group of humans to take care of your furry family
Very helpful and caring staff. They did a great job of keeping me informed while my dog was in there care, and after she was released to come back home. Thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality.
This is by far the best veterinary office I have ever been to! The vets and staff always treat my dog like their own, which is why she gets to excited to see all her human friends there on every visit. My dog just needed life saving emergency surgery and they went above ad beyond what I expected in caring for her. I would recommend this place to anyone. ❤
Great vet Dr G and his staff are awesome!
Love the vets and the staff at RIAC, and so do my pets!
Very caring and professional staff and doctors!! Always there when you need them!!
I drive from VA to take my dog there. It is difficult to find a clinic where everyone is trying to do the best for your pet. This is the clinic for us. Everyone here worked hard to take care of my dog in her time of need
We were only in the area for a few months but Dr. Elliott took great care of our geriatric dog. He helped to make him more comfortable in his final months and their in home euthanasia service was so wonderful. We did usually have quite a bit of a wait when we went in, however. Even when we had a scheduled appointment. And the inner office banter amongst the front desk staff was a bit unnecessary and unprofessional. Despite them being a bit too casual between each other, they were always very welcoming and friendly towards us and other clients.
Best vets. So caring and helpful. Love them.
Wonderful vet. Knowledgeable and caring staff.
Good people. Good things happening here.
We had the unfortunate circumstance that required us to need vet services. We were on the second to last day of camping in Rodanthe and our beloved 16 year old pug mix had done great for the week, but we could tell something was wrong. Not to get into details, but we just knew it was time. We called around Nags Head and one place in particular said they could see us in a few hours, with no compassion for our situation. We called Roanoke Island Animal Clinic and they were empathetic, compassionate and just simply kind to us and towards our situation. They said come right in. We arrived and they were actually very busy, but saw us immediately. We talked with a doctor for about 10 minutes and gave us options and time for us to spend with our buddy. It was as least painful as that type of situation can be. If we lived near there, they would for sure be out vet. If you're just visiting or live there, Roanoke Island Animal Clinic is a great place for your pet.
Caring vets & techs! Friendly & efficient front office staff. Great groomers.
Had an emergency late Saturday night with my girlfriend dog. Roanoke Island Animal Clinic was available to look at my girlfriend's dog and save our vacation. Thank you, please update google hours of operation because it shows close.
Only vet on the Outer Banks to respond to our emergency after-hours dog issue. Dr. Burkhart personally answered the phone. The animal hospitals in Nags Head and Kitty Hawk say they have emergency service- but don't believe it! After several phone calls to the Animal Hospital of Nags Head, and the Coastal Animal Hospital in Kitty Hawk, I got forwarded to a technician in Chesapeake, VA (Greenbriar). She said they were the only emergency vet available- which was an hour and half away. So not only were they not available, the technician didn't know what she was talking about.
Here on vacation and needed care for our furbaby... Amazing folks!! From the moment we made the first call, throughout the visit and follow up. Can't thank you enough!!
Very pleased with doctors and staff. My fur babies are well taken care of there.
My 8 animals love all the vets here
We were on vacation with our 12 YO Pit. He fell ill and we looked for a vet. Ratings were good, so we chose RIAC. Took him in and after x-ray Dr. G was at first worried, then he found a sand impaction. Usually it cleared, but this one was not. The outlook was fatal. Dr Hayes did surgery and removed the sand,. I have to say the three vets, and all the staff are highly skilled, and clearly care for the patient. Dr. Hayes followed up as we arrived back home 1000 miles away. If you take your 4 legged family member to RIAC, the last thing you should worry about is their care. A 5 rating is not high enough. Thanks to Drs Grossman, Hayes, and Layng, Grimis is back home and nearly fully recovered a week later. A special thanks to Dr. Hayes for her excellent surgical skills and repeated followups.
Awesome place that really cares for your pet like it's one of thier own. Couldn't ask for better doctors nor staff.
Fantastic people and fantastic service.
