Since I had taken a day off from work, this was a very kind and professional thing to do. My pup's surgery went well and received a call from the doctor after he wrapped everything up. Matthews Animal Clinic has been by far the best vet our family has ever taken our fur babies to. They care. They respond. They don't push anything. Pricing is very reasonable for such a large professional practice. Four years ago I had to make one of the hardest choices to say goodbye to my 13 year old cat. Dr.Brader as well as the entire staff were so caring and made the experience a lot easier than it could have been. Our 9 year old dog has been a patient for most of her life and she gets top notch care with medication decisions, exams, boarding, and grooming. I would recommend MAC to any friend or family member in the Charlotte/Matthews area. Nothing, but the best! Thank you all for loving Jordan!

We made an appointment 5 days in advance for for Wednesday at 1:30. My mom showed up their only to be told that they didn’t have us listed for an appointment. So they told her to wait. She waited for almost two hours for an opening. Then on the phone we were told it would only be $53 per dog, $106 in total for a physical plus a prescription for heart worm medication. Well imagine the surprise when my mom finds out the real charge was $318? Then my mom tried to talk with a manager about the mix up only to be talked to condescendingly. They made my mom leave in TEARS from how rude they were to her. Terrible service and terrible people working here. I do NOT reccomend.

I called to ask about switching my dog here because it's a lot closer location from my current vet and my dog was due for some shots. All I wanted to know was an estimate of how much it would cost. The lady at the front desk was rude and proceeded to inform me about one of the medicines my dog needed in such a condescending attitude "yeah it's not what you thought" she said....excuse me? I didn't tell her what I thought. All I wanted to know was the price. I didn't ask her to teach me about head worm medication (and I'm pretty sure the secretary isn't a vet). I worked as a dog groomer for seven years so I know about heart worm medication, what's in it, and how it's prescribed. I think I will make the longer trip to ST.FRANCIS where they are SO much more welcoming and less interested in belittling potentiontial clients.

Very grateful for Dr. Thompson. Unfortunately our dog, Micki, was misdiagnosed at another clinic in the area. We went to Dr. Thompson for a second opinion, and her assessment (which was much more thorough than the first vet) prevented us from a course of treatment which would have been unnecessary, expensive, and potentially harmful to our dog. We will be going there for all of our dog's medical care moving forward. Excellent vet, excellent technician, and excellent office staff. Thank you all.

Thank you to wonderful people at Matthews Animal Clinic. Recently our lab was acting lazy and just not himself. We took him in for check up and Dr Thompson ran some blood work. She told us that scout was anemic and recommended an ultrasound of the Belly . Dr Meadows Ultrasounded his belly and found a growth on the spleen that was bleeding. Surgery was Scouts only option. Enter Dr. Brader. Dr Brader immediately performed surgery on scout, even though it was 5 pm, and removed the spleen. WOW! Thank you for saving our dog. Thank you!!!

Our dog is a customer, called at 11:00AM on a Saturday, with our dog howling so loud that you could hear him a block away. We knew it was his time to put him down. However, Matthews refused because they were closing at noon. Can you believe that? They said to take him to an emergency clinic. Well, we can't afford that. We had already checked prices weeks before, because we knew it was getting close. We had already been sedating him and giving him pain meds. So,I called again at 11:30 to beg them to take them. While I was on the phone they mistook me for another customer and said that it was Okay, Dr. Pritchett would wait to see their dog. Now, that was biased! It was okay for them, but not for us. Obviously, he was already waiting.. I think this was absolutely MEAN, not do take him in. Where is the passion when you need it??

My dog grew a tumor in a very tricky spot, right on top of a joint. Dr. Getz assured me that she is a skilled and efficient surgeon, and she is! She kept the surgery fast, clean, and as low cost as possible. I'd just moved across the country without a job, so when my dog managed to chew her stitches out *a second time*, they examined her, bandaged her up, and sent us home with extra meds and supplies, all free of charge. Their kindness was a huge relief for me. I highly recommend! Thanks Dr.Getz and staff!

My dog was hit by a car. I called a couple of veterinary offices. I was offered appointments hours later, in one case the next day. I called this Vet. I never got through half my phone call. The woman I spoke to cut me off and said, "Bring him in here now, we'll take care of you," My dog Sassy was a patient here before she died. They are WAY out of the way for my since I moved. No matter. I am back. There is no better Veterinary practice in town.

Despite the obvious emotional grief I experienced during the loss of my beloved chihuahua of almost 20 years, the staff at Matthews Animal Clinic were absolutely amazing throughout the process. My fiance called the clinic first thing one Monday morning a few months back to see if there was a chance my dog could be seen asap after her health and quality of life had drastically regressed over the matter of a few days - we were able to take her in within the next hour after calling. The staff were so patient and kind in the words they spoke and their overall demeanor when providing end-of-life care for my little "Mandy". It was clear they understood that she wasn't just a pet but a family member, and we weren't just customers to them but people who were experiencing emotional trauma and heartache. They were so great and didn't even worry about receiving payment for the services at the time of visit but told us they would mail us the bill so we didn't have to deal with paying for the euthanasia in that moment.

First off, pretty much all veterinarians are the same. They have the same knowledge and qualifications, so it's really the attitude of the establishment that sets it apart. That being said, the people at the front desk here left much to be desired. They were short with my wife and I, and acted like we were inconveniencing them. They talked down to my wife when she asked a simple question about my dog's diagnosis. I did not get a good impression of the establishment, which is really too bad. I wanted to like this place, it's close to my house and convenient for me. Unfortunately I would rather continue to drive 45 minutes to north Charlotte to see my old vet than go back to this place.

Matthews Animal Clinic sees all 3 of our pets and the staff and vets are wonderful. They were able to diagnose my dog with needing a double knee replacement surgery when Animal Medical Hospital (just down the road) had failed to do so. They successfully helped us find a vet who could perform the surgeries and have been offering us post-surgical care as well as our usual vet appointments to manage immunizations, allergies, and the usual doggy and cat illnesses/emergencies. Our dog is deaf and afraid of everyone, but he is treated with such kindness by Dr. Meadows that he allows him to examine and touch him. This is no small feat! If you have a scared or shy animal, I recommend coming here.

I highly recommend this Clinic. I have been coming here for over 15yrs. Two of my dachshunds were born there. I have never had a bad experience, if they feel something is going on they are not familiar with they refer you or find out about it! never been here before, just moved to the area from out of state. had to put my cat down today and the vet was amazing, the person checking me in was a little rude, made say why i was there, not sure why she could not just read the appointment screen, did not enjoy having to have to say "putting my cat down" out loud in a waiting area. the vet though made it so much easier, showing compassion. did not treat me like i was just some random person putting a pet down. if i ever decide to get another pet, i will definitely bring them here. i give the 5 stars solely on the vet (wish i could remember her name)

When we lived in NC for 2 1/2 years, Matthews Animal Clinic was are go to for our three dogs. My dogs experienced numerous health issues while in NC and we always took them to Matthews, even after moving across town. We worked with all the vets there, but Dr. Pritchett handled a potentially very serious issue with two of our dogs. He was amazing! His knowledge and empathy towards any our situation was outstanding! I highly recommend Matthews Animal Clinic!!

MAC Is my Go-to! They had me at "Hello" 16 years ago after Dr. Ann Meadows checked on my late rescue "Osa" to see how she was doing on day 9 of 10 day of her meds. The fact that she remembered Osa had 1 more dosage and was checking on her, did it for me! Since, MAC has been instrumental in helping me get my doggy "Bear" to leave with me in Ghana, West Africa. Matthews Animal Clinic is the best. Dr. Brader is very thorough and knowledgeable, and takes great care of my babies. I was notified of a finding on my kitty's lab results. Dr. Brader explained what it meant, and follow up to make sure my baby is okay. My dog Marley got sick this week, and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Thompson right away. She is super sweet, and thorough as well. Marley is all better thanks to Dr.Thompson's excellent care. I also received a follow up call the next day to make sure she was feeling better. That is amazing service!! The staff handled my wild kitty very well, and was able to do tests and Dr. Brader examine her without medications needed. She is not friendly outside our home, and to strangers so this is HUGE! I highly recommend them to take care of your precious fur babies.

They truly care for our dogs, and they are incredibly professional, kind and compassionate, as exemplified by what could have been a medical crisis for our mini Schnauzer Tucker last week. Tucker, as we later found out, had apparently eaten a good amount of dog toy rope (our younger dog must have "deconstructed" it). After a week of vomitting once per day, I brought him to Matthews Animal Clinic with the concern that the rope he vomitted up on day 5 might not be all there was in his stomach. Dr. Chris Brader was the attending veterintarian for Tucker, and after examining him, he expressed concern that his abdomen was tight and that there might be some kind of blockage. He suggested an xray, and when he discovered that their machine would still be undergoing repairs until the next day, he graciously suggested that I be referred to a neighboring vet clinic. He coordinated the referral with the wonderful ladies at the front desk (I believe Patty was the main one who helped contact the clinics), and they were able to send us to a very kind and capable staff at Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte (**see separate review). What blew me away was that Dr. Brader insisted that I not be charged for his exam on Tucker so that we would not have to pay both him and Compassionate Care for their services. He was in touch several times with Compassionate Care as several sets of xrays were taken and sent to him, and he emphasized that if I had any questions throughout the process he would be happy to take my call and answer them. When I came by the clinic to drop off the disc with the xrays the second day, Dr. Brader took the time to make sure we could talk face-to-face so that he could confirm the diagnosis made by the veterinarian at Compassionate Care. Thankfully, Tucker did not have any remaining blockage, and after a follow-up set of xrays the next day it was clear that everything was processing normally. He has been healthy since, for which we are extremely grateful. We truly could not ask for more professional, compassionate or attentive care than what we regularly receive at Matthews Animal Clinic. Whether we go for a routine exam or for a possible medical crisis like what happed last week, we always know that our dogs will be treated with genuine love, care and expertise. We highly recommend Matthews Animal Clinic, and they will always be our "home."

I've taken all of my many pets here, for as long as I can remember. All of the vets are kind and super with my pets, and when I lost one they all signed a nice sympathy card and sent it to me. We used to come to this same clinic when I was a little girl, back when it was owned by Dr. Cleveland, who I idolized. They have never failed us, and I am moving away almost to SC and will miss this clinic dearly.

I am shocked to read the review concerning Matthews animal clinic and Dr. Meadows. Dr. Meadows has been our vet for over 20 years. There is a good reason for that. Dr. Meadows and staff have been exceptional in caring for all of our pets, as of right now 3 dog's and has always called back and followed up and just giving great care overall. If someone with a cat had an issue with the meds they were given and wants to make it seem like it was malicious and incompetent then they need to valuate there motives. No one is perfect but to insinuate that Dr. Meadows is cold or incompetent is an insult that I will not let go un answered from my experience with the staff at Matthews. Be rest assured that our pets are in the best loving environment available. I do appreciate that fact.

As any pet owners worry about their loved animals, this place is well over priced , doctors and staff doesn’t seem that passionate about their job. The vibes were not comforting. I haven’t been here since 2014 and accidentally booked my appointment here and now I’m reminded why I never wanted to come back in the first place. My recommendation is Mint Hill Animal Hospital, they treat you and your pet golden !!!

This veterinary clinic started in 1968 with services for all sizes of animals from cats to cattle. As the Matthews area became more urban it changed into a modern clinic treating dogs, cats and small pets. I have been a customer for 9 years and am very satisfied with all of Matthews Animal Clinic's services. The Doctors and the staff provide expert care to my dog. The facility is very clean and the waiting area is comfortable. Boarding and grooming services are also offered. Highly recommended.

The staff is wonderful. Whether we need grooming, shots, or boarding, the staff takes amazing care of Chewbacca and Piper. They know their names and are very pleasant when we come jn. I wouldn't take my puppies anywhere else, and neither should you.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the facility is clean and there is never a long wait time. If I call with a question for the doctor, I get a call back - sadly this is a rare thing for the vets I have gone to. Dr. Pritchett is so knowledgeable, helpful and trustworthy.
