Last week I chose Maple Tree because of the friendly staff and Dr. Birthwright's warm approach at the Rabies Clinic at Riverbend School over several years. Our experience with Gypsy, our sick cat was exceptional. Everyone was so sympathetic and caring. We received a lovely card a couple of days ago conveying your sympathy in our loss. Sadly, when we were still grieving, we received a notice in the mail yesterday from you that it was time for Gypsy's check-up. It was difficult to see this cute cat on the brochure, along with our cat's name printed on the cover, when we had just had to make the difficult decision to have him put to sleep. PLEASE check your records before sending out check-up notices.

This place is why my 9 year old wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. What was amazing is that unlike our previous two vets, it wasn't about the money but about the life of our cat and the well being of my daughter. They did things that I wasn't expecting, adding extra services they didn't charge me for to be sure that our cat got the best possible care. Extremely caring, wonderful people. We recently moved to the area and before we were even in our house our dog Boomer got sick and injured on two separate occasions. The establishment is clean, the architecture is appealing, and the staff seems to be comprised of absolute angels. However, Dr. Birthright seemed to be pompous and completely uninterested in anything that we had to say. He didn't interact with our pet at all (I've NEVER seen a vet refuse to interact with his/her patient) and he seemed most interested in trying to sell us as many prescriptions as possible (all steroids) before we left. The one, very mild prescription that we ended up taking is working wonderfully, so I'll give him that. We also sat in a waiting room for upwards of half an hour, despite being the only clients in the building. We chose this clinic because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and we were sadly disappointed.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY!!!! I found a bleeding, pussing wound on my dog's leg. Husband rushed us to the vet's office and made it there about five minutes before they opened. When we got inside and explained our dog was hurt, the very first thing the receptionist snapped at me was, "Well, we aren't even open yet!" That's exactly the sort of friendly attitude I need to experience when my animal is in pain and I am panicking. I guess the blood finally roused her to actually look for some help, but she told us no one was there, not even a vet tech. They have contacted me since, and in all of their responses they explained they just didn't have the staff, even though it was five minutes before they opened. So if your animal has an emergency, don't waste precious seconds bringing it here. In all fairness - now that some time has passed and my dog is feeling better - I will admit that when I used to schedule vet appointments for my cats there, Dr. B. was very nice and knowledgeable, and the vet techs were sweet on my babies. I discovered this animal hospital because they are part of a program with the Brother Wolf Rescue in Asheville that gives a free vet check up for animals adopted from that shelter.

We don't live in Waynesville, but we vacation there twice a year. We've used Maple Tree for the past two years at the recommendation of the owner of the home we rent. Dr Birthright and his staff are accessible, knowledgeable, trustworthy and kind. When we were six hours away from our home vet and our frail 17-year-old cat was dehydrated and in pain, the staff at Maple Tree told us to bring him in immediately, and they made him feel better - and made us feel better, too. A year later, we brought in our 12-week-old kittens who had the sniffles, and again, they saw us immediately and reassured us that all would be well. Their follow-up is excellent, too. We always get a check-in call the next day. We appreciate Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital and will continue to trust them for our pets' care when we're in the area.

Not a place to take your cat to be groomed. Worst grooming ever! In response to this review, the manager called and wanted to do whatever was needed to make this a good groom. However, I did not feel comfortable with cutting the hair any shorter, plus the additional stress to my cat. She did offer a total refund because I was not happy with the groom.

Dropped our 2 year old pitbull off for day camp while we skied for the day in the area. We are from out of town and they were all incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. If you want to know how your pet feels about its care just watch how they react. I have two St. Bernard's that get vet care, grooming and boarding at Maple Tree. They can't wait to get out of the car when we pull into the yard and are out before I can get the doors. Our male will actually push the door open so that they can get inside and see what's going on. As far as grooming goes, Rick does an outstanding job on their long curly coats. Five stars to Maple Tree, Dr. Birthright and his staff.

I take my dog and cat to Maple Tree and have had a great experience everytime. On occasion I have to board my dog and I use their kennels at the adjacent building. The kennels are amazing! Indoor/outdoor, and the indoor section is glass, not bars or cage material. They have TV's on for the dogs, and each day they get to go out to play with other dogs for at least an hour during the week, unless you purchase extra time. All in all its a great experience on both sides, I trust them with my animals! Update: I am still taking my two dogs to Maple Tree since we moved here three years ago and I wouldn't even think about taking them anywhere else! I lost my dear 15 yo cat Boo five months ago and they were all wonderful and so very caring, I can't begin to say enough good things about them and the way they took care of my sweet boy. We have a puppy now for a buddy for our Shiba Inu and they both love Maple Tree!!! The boarding/doggie day camp side plus grooming, is still just as terrific! If you want to take your pet to someone you can trust, definitely go to Maple Tree! Remember, cheaper isn't always better...you get what you pay for!!!

Maple tree is by far my favorite vet I have been to. After having to switch my vet, because the other vet was man handling my dogs. The building is always clean, appointments are very easy to make, and the staff is very friendly. The staff have always interacted with my dogs (even though they can be nippy, the dogs of course), and always tries to get to know them before they do any treatments. Dr. Birthright is very knowledgeable about treatments, medications, and everything you need, and he explains everything clearly before he does anything. Definitely recommend this vet for your pet needs.

I am happy that a friend told me about your office. The staff has always been great. They send reminders to you when its time for a office visit, vaccinations...which is a really good thing with our busy lives. They are concerned with the general health of your pet. They answer your questions. I would understand if I had to wait. But appointments have always been on time. Staff is loving and caring about my pet. I am lucky so far that my Pet/child is healthy. I have sat in other vets offices with fear in my heart over a sick or injured animal and waiting for hours (they did not do appointments. It was a sign in and you waited your turn). So I would understand if someone had a sick or injured animal that needed care immediately and I had to wait or reschedule. After all they are our children/family members. Since my work schedule is somewhat erratic. I like that I can call and get a time to make a quick visit for a nail trim. They always seem to grow overnight, LOL. So yes, I would recommend this office for care of your pet/family member!

I recently brought in my cat for treatment after he was in a fight with another cat. It broke my heart to see him limping badly with an injury to his rear leg. Maple Tree was able to see him the same day. The doctor and assistant were very gentle as they began their examination. A bite wound was found after shaving his leg. The wound was cleaned and an injection for pain and antibiotics was administered. By the next day the swelling was down and his limp was hardly noticeable. I also received a follow up call from Maple Tree checking on his status. I am very happy with the treatment received from Maple Tree.
