My husband and I could not be happier with the service we received from Dr. Yasin, Dr. Forhecz and staff. Our cat, Flapjacks hadn't eaten in over a week when we first took him to Longs. We were so concerned and really wanted answers as to why this was happening as he is only 3 years old. Dr. Yasin and staff took exceptional care of him and worked so hard to make sure we had answers and put up with our crazy phone calls constantly wanting updates. Dr. Yasin and Dr. Forhecz were exceptional at helping us understand every step of the process. We were able to take him home after a day and a half and within a half hour of being home, he finally ate and that is due to the care and hard work of the staff at Longs. We are so grateful! Thank you so much!

Our puppy sustained a cut on her ear. The first vet we called was also the closest. The after hours emergency service was first class and they cared for our injured puppy like she was one of the family. Dr Messenger and the staff are the best at what they do.

Good prices, professional environment, great staff! If I could give Long Animal Hospital six stars I would! I was greeted by the friendly, professional, and courteous Jamie, who searched for my dog's previous records and got me set up with an appointment in ten minutes. My dog is...let's say 'difficult' when it comes to shots, baths, nail clipping, muzzles, or being restrained in any way, shape, or form. And that's an understatement. He is quite strong and loud and he will pull and bark and whine with all his strength. I have been turned away from many places trying to cut his nails, but Dr. Yasin and his staff were able to get the job done and done well! The prices for shots and grooming are very fair and even cheaper than many other grooming salons I have been to. So you get first class treatment and an incredible, caring staff for your animal, all for stellar prices! Highly recommended!

Dr. Fulton had the terrible task of telling me our dog has cancer. She had amazing “bedside manor” and such patience in explaining our options and answering our questions. She not only had to tell me but also I asked her if I could call my husband and have her explain the prognosis to him too. She did so without hesitation. She was so kind in offering her sympathy about the situation and gave me a big hug as I continued to sob uncontrollably. Plus she was so sweet to our bulldog. Thank you so much, Dr. Fulton, for helping us through such a tough day and being such a wonderful vet, and compassionate person, in delivering the sad news. She was extremely knowledgeable; I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else as our vet.

This was the first vet I took my pup to when I ran into an emergency and hadn't found one yet and it is now his and my newer pup's regular veterinarian. I don't necessarily request any particular veterinarian because they're all fantastic! They're also fairly priced in comparison to other veterinarian's in the area.

Our 14 year old dog, Phoebe, had been to Long Animal Hospital several months ago for a bladder infection. The doctor was thorough and kind and resolved Phoebe's infection with a course of antibiotics. Sunday night Phoebe began vomiting bile. By Monday morning she was no better, so I called the hospital. They made an appointment that morning for an initial exam. Dr. Killough, Sr. was kind and gentle with her. He kept her for the day and conducted a battery of tests to diagnose her complaint. He worked tirelessly, consulting with other doctors, until by Tuesday morning they could accurately determine that our Phoebe had an aggressive tumor that had already metastisized throughout her body. He took a great deal of time explaining our options to us, making sure we understood the consequences of each option for Phoebe. We are very grateful that our Phoebe had such loving and competent care during the last days of her life.

Warning to boarders- my healthy little dog Scrappy was picked up in terrible condition after boarding a week at Long animal Hospital. I am a seasoned nurse . He is an 8 pound Yorkie mix - he had a distended and bloated abdomen and wasn’t walking right - he also smelled of strong urine ( he wears a belly band when inside because he marks ) I demanded to see a vet and was upset and angry . Thankfully , the owner was there and wanted to examine him - I demanded to go back to the hospital area with him . The dog had a fever . The vet started rinsing him off and turned him on his back - I was mortified to see that Scrappy was covered in blisters and pustules over entire abdomen and legs !!. The blisters were covering pus in places ! The belly band had been left on for a week even when he was let out of the kennel to go to the bathroom !!!!He had a fever and in my opinion was on his way to becoming septic . Dr. killough was kind - he apologized and stated that he did not blame me for being upset or angry . After treating him with heavy duty Antibiotics and 2 germ killing baths ( he spent hour and half treating him ) I brought him home . The aggressive antibiotics were hopefully working and I was up late with the dog and worried sick . I’m glad that Dr. Killough treated this aggressively- it was extremely serious . The antibiotics worked ( dog was in bad shape for first few days - he was in pain ) scabbing for two weeks. Money refunded and Dr. Killough being there - otherwise I don’t know what the outcome would have been . I certainly hope that this does not happen to another dog !!!!! I was also told that my dogs could be boarded “upstairs “ at the “ special needs “ boarding area next time ( this was my first time boarding there ) . Lisa McKee

You guys are a rip off! I had to put my dog to sleep at your location because you said it wasn’t worth it! Was that a lie? Do you guys even do good work!? Let me find out I could have saved my dog from someone else! You all will regret it.

Dr.Kilough Is one amazing man. I can’t Thank Long Animal enough for their support to my (fur)children. Norman my bulldog has had 2 successful TPLO surgeries. They always get us in when we need it. They always call me back promptly with any question or concerns I have. I can not put into words how Thankful I am to Dr.Kilough, Dr.Brian, Jason and the whole Long Animal staff. You are ALL God Sent. You’re in the business for the right reasons and I am so thankful to you all from the bottom of my heart. You all gave my baby mobility to still play and swim with me at the age of 9. All of my 4 dogs and cat come here and are All taken care of to the highest standard. Best vet I’ve EVER been to. With a family of a total of 7 dogs (3passed away) Long is the best. No one can hold a candle to Long Animal hospital.

My 17-year old cat had been declining for several months from multiple conditions and my regular vet and I had agreed that we were going to keep her comfortable until it was apparent she was suffering. Unfortunately she suddenly went into crisis, throwing up masses of blood at 4:00 on a weekday morning when my regular vet's office was closed. My husband and I rushed her to Long Animal Hospital. They helped our kitty across the rainbow bridge with compassion and kindness. I am so grateful that they helped us; I think without them she would have had a drawn-out and painful death as we waited for our vet's office to open. I was too distraught to catch the vet's name, but if Dr. Young Vet with the Kind Demeanor is reading this, thank you.

After 3 days of under treatment for my cat named Goldie, at Atrium Animal Hospital, I moved her to Long Hospital. It was clear to me she was terribly dehydrated by the way she sat at her water bowl barely able to hold her head up. Atrium Hospital reluctantly and slowly gave her a small amount of fluids even though I requested aggressive fluids. After three days of going there and coming back home each trip she worsened daily. The lack of fluids nearly killed her. Upon arriving at Long Animal Hospital Dr Messenger aggressively started fluids within 30 minutes of Goldie arriving at Long Hospital. She had not eaten for four days but with Dr Messengers knowledge and serious fluid treatment she began to show interest in food again within a few hours. She is still sick with pancreatitus, and bacteria in her bladder but without the aggressive treatment Dr Messenger at Long gave her immediately, she might not have had a fighting chance to rebound. She was as limp as a rag when I took her out of Atrium's care after 3 days of them telling me to be patient while she got significantly worse. Dr Messenger and Dr James at Long Aninmal Hosiptal have given Goldie the serious attention and treatment I could not get from the other clinic. Dr Messenger and Dr James at Long Animal Hospital have been wonderful and saved her life. Goldie might still have underlying issues that will impede her from living several more years, but it was clear from labs that she was not sick enough to die this week. Thanks to Long Animal hospital for the exemplary knowledge and care they have provided. Dr's at long Animal Hospital are the best! Don't hesitate to go to this clinic.

Had to use the emergency side. Great friendly staff. Very quick with intake upon arrival. Dr. Powalie and the rest of the Emergancy drs there were excellent and very patient with my cat even though he was a bit of a handful and can be very grouchy when around drs. Would highly recommend. I will be moving my animals to them as my full time vet. Prices were also very reasonable considering that it was an emergency visit.

Unfortunately after 14 years with this office, my dog and I were nothing but a number. I had to make the hard decision to put my dog down and since walking out of the office leaving him on a couch (they were putting him to sleep after we left) I haven’t heard anything from anyone. When choosing a vet and entrusting them with the care of your animal one would think kindness and some sort of personal touch would be extended when they are gone. I called a week later to try and give this feedback in a kind way, hoping it could help other people avoid having this unfortunate experience (it’s too late for me) and I still haven’t received a phone call back. When this practice moved into their new building the relational aspect was lost and it is my fault for not leaving then. The family roots this practice was founded on made it a wonderful place but sadly money is now their priority! I would like to point out this doesn’t reflect the care we received while we were there but losing your animal after 14 years of going to the same office and no follow up is very unfortunate (my vet was very kind and knowledgeable over the years and was off the night we had to go//same experience with the emergency vet and we are grateful they have 24 hour care). Save yourself the heartache and frustration and find another vet to take your animals to.

Great care for all of my fur babies!

I would highly recommend Long Animal Hospital. The receptionists are extremely professional and nice. They are accommodating in the case of emergencies or those inevitable unexpected situations. Dr. Fulton is especially great with my dog. She always provides the care necessary and is extremely friendly to both me and my dog. The store located downstairs offers competitive pricing on the products that we always have to buy (food, heart worm medication, flee medication, etc.) The facility is also extremely clean, which I assume must be difficult due to the amount of animals that go through their daily. Overall, this is a phenomenal Vet located in Charlotte.

I have been going here for years and I am finally done. Each time I bring my dogs in I am stuck there for over 2 hours. They continuously push medicines and procedures on me. I constantly feel judged by not getting every drug, procedure, treatment, or the things I do or don’t do for my dogs at home. Treatments are completed without my knowledge of costs, or approvals. They over medicate and use all the tactics and tricks they can think of to rack up the bill. This last time they took and cleaned my dogs ears without telling me there was a $20 cost. On top of 4 meds for a skin treatment. My other dog has grand mal seizures and they put him on strong meds at high doses to the point he was immobile. Along with scare tactics that he had to stay on these meds or get worse. Today’s bill for both dogs was $359 and that was with me saying no to 3 vaccines and multiple other treatments. Never, at any visit does anyone give you fees or information for anything they decided to do. I asked for a payment plan and they said no. I did give them 1 star because they have good hours but that’s about it. I would deal with the prices if I felt they had my dogs interests at heart and I don’t believe that at all, they just want money. The Dr went back through records to find a time when my pit had another skin disease to suggest more meds... but didn’t look at my huskys records about having grand mal seizures for a year and multiple emergency visits for it. They get one star for good hours, that’s it and I won’t be back

We found Long Animal Hospital 3 years ago and cannot imagine taking our dogs to any other veterinary hospital. Dr. Yasin has guided our family through multiple routine surgeries and we truly feel that he cares for our pets as if they were his own. The staff are always welcoming and wait times are short. Above all, the pricing is reasonable compared to other vets in the Charlotte area. They are honest in their practice and have never recommended a treatment or medication that wasn't completely necessary. Long Animal is top-notch and we are thankful to be their clients.

Charge for stuff that doesn't need to be done, $400 for one visit and my puppies are still deathly sick. So done with this place do not go here. Each vet will say they have to run $200 worth of tests to see and treat your dog, that's ridiculous because previous test readings should be in medical file. They don't care about your pets they only care about money.

Jen Bentivegna

I'm pretty frustrated with this vet clinic and will probably start searching for a new one now. Our cat was recently admitted in the ICU for a week. The original cost they told us was $900. Then as they kept him longer they told us it would be around $1,200. Well, we got the bill it was more than double that. $3000. They never informed us of the huge cost change - which would have been something we needed to have immediate information on to get our finances in order. While he was at the clinic, we were promised status updates daily from the vet and received none. They would claim to call us at this time or this day and haven't. In fact, we're still waiting on a checkup call from them. My biggest problem with them besides their lack of committing to obligations and trying to charge you an arm and a leg without informing you, though, is that his entire situation could have been prevented the first and second time we brought him to the vet clinic when we first found him. It would have saved him pain and us money if they actually paid more attention to the animals. ( Which reminds me of how we brought in one of our cats to be told that we need to bring her back again for them to "diagnose her" and charged us over $150 for literally DOING NOTHING. The vet just patted her and said to bring her back again! Which we certainly will not! ) I really wanted to like this place. I'm thankful they helped save my cat. But I don't enjoy businesses taking advantage of people's suffrage. That's just disgusting.

Thank you Dr Forhecz! We had no experiences with golden retrievers or hot spots in general and were completely miffed when the hair behind our goldens ears started fall out and the skin looked raw. I brought him in on a Saturday morning and Dr Forhecz shaved the skin and showed me what to do. She really showed me what to do and that it was a common problem -- the tech was also unbelievably nice in calming me down (the hotspot was so bad - i felt guilty). Coincidentally, we had an annual with a different dog that same week, post hot spot incident, and also had Dr Forhecz. She recognized me, looked at the pictures of the hot spot I had on my phone, recommended a different way of treating the scabs. When she did the annual for our other dog she was so attentive and understanding. Showed me how to comb scabs out, what they would lead to, etc. I truly believe in recognizing when someone has gone above and beyond. While it may have just been her job to do those things, she really made an impact on myself and my family and our understanding of how we should care for our animals. We have seen many different veterinarians at Long and they have all been unbelievably helpful & kind. The front desk staff at Long is also extremely helpful. When we came on Saturday we were told about a 2.5 hour wait and they were able to see us in 20 to 30 minutes. Thank you Long Animal Hospital!

Took my cat here for an emergency, and she ended up passing away unexpectedly. The staff were all very supportive, knowledgeable, and comforting. The receptionist even have me a hug. The staff called me and kept me updated while my cat was admitted. I was surprised to receive a sympathy card from the staff after my cat passed, and was shocked to see how affordable they were, too. I only came for an emergency, but will be switchswi to them for primary care now.

My wife and I love Long's! So far we've only had to bring one dog in but have others that are due for checkups. The service is outstanding, truly deserving of 5 stars or more. It's clear their staff cares about its customers and animal patients and I would gladly recommend them to anyone.

Our dog, Maggie, had an FCE a few months ago which affected both hind legs - one leg was completely paralyzed and the other was nearly paralyzed as well. We rushed her to Long where the weekend emergency staff was helpful and compassionate throughout our visit. The following week we met with the rehab doctor and staff who crafted a rehab plan for Maggie. Jason Dean, the rehab tech, has been an outstanding resource over the past few months. He has established a trusting relationship with us, as well as with our dog. Every time we visit for rehab, Jason walks through the plan for her underwater treadmill workout for the session. Throughout the treadmill session, he explains what he is looking for and seeing in Maggie's walk during the workout. Afterwards, he summarizes her performance and works with me to alter her home rehab plan as necessary. Maggie loves to go to rehab and gets excited to see Jason whenever we go. I was surprised to find that her rehab was so affordable and so effective. It has been exciting to see Maggie's progress while she has worked with Jason. She now walks, runs and plays almost like normal. Jason has been instrumental in getting our dog back and for that we cannot thank him enough.

Dr. Yasin is so great with my dog Newton. I went to a few different vets in Charlotte before finding Dr. Yasin at Long Animal Hospital, all of which weren’t nearly as patient or attentive with Newton. Dr. Yasin always sits on the floor to greet my dog who is very nervous at the vet. I really appreciate his commitment to making my dog comfortable. He’s also great at making sure I understand everything. I’ve also found them to be the best priced around Charlotte. Dr. Yasin always provides the highest level of care and is fantastic at being mindful of my budget. I would highly recommend him to any friends or family! Further, the convinence of a 24/7 hospital is unparalleled especially if you have a quick question at a late hour. The staff are always so friendly and helpful!!

Every time I've had to visit Long AH (South Blvd) I've been treated with kindness and given good advice and compassionate care. This ranges from doctors like Dr. Rich Wittmann to any of the staff at the front or at pick up lobby (e.g. Michelle). They take good care of our furry family members.

Tina Winstead

They saved my cat's life after he was misdiagnosed twice at another clinic males get bladder infections sometimes in the summer that can kill them he was close to death when he got there.

Katelyn Allen

This place is not great we try to get them to help our dog and they told us to give our dog up and If I could I would never had bring our dog up there and now we’re going to sue this place for how they treated us.

Exceptional experience. When my cat broke her leg and the urgent care vet here in Belmont told us we'd need a surgeon, I sent out a request to my network for recommendations. The list quickly filled up with the same suggestion: Go to Long Animal Hospital. So I did, and I am not sorry. The staff was caring, competent, professional, and communicated clearly with me at every stage. We had to make the decision to amputate, and the staff was extremely compassionate without sugar-coating anything. After the surgery, I posted photos to my network, which includes several medical professionals. They all chimed in to say the same thing: Wow, those sutures look great! I'd be happy to see those on any patient, human or otherwise! Dr. Brown returned my calls promptly when I had questions, and altogether our experience could not have been better. My three-legged kitty is recovering beautifully. She never had any sign of infection, discharge, bruising, or anything negative, and her recovery has been faster than I could have anticipated. Thank you so much to Dr. Brown and all the Long Animal team for taking such superb care of my sweet kitty in our hour of need.

Tim Wood

I lost my dog and my best friend today. That said, Dr James was there every step pf the way. She was comforting, and straight forward. She showed empathy and sympathy to the last minute before my dog was put to sleep. I cannot thank all of the staff at this hospital enough for all they did....

Sarah Noelke

I have been going to Long since 2005 when I moved to Charlotte. Dr. Killough and Dr. Brown are truly exceptional veterinarians who are genuinely kind and considerate. I feel lucky to have found such an awesome place to take my dogs.

Heidi Andrews

The people at Long Animal Hospital were fabulous. The doctor called to tell me they couldn't do surgery at 11:30 pm because my sweet dog Delialah had cancer. He then called us the following day to check on us. Then when we got there everyone was so kind. The doctor who told us what was going on and showed us pictures was so caring. Taylor the nurse if that's what you call them was beyond wonderful. Even though we had to put our precious baby down they were above and beyond fantastic. If we ever have any issues with our other two dogs even though it's an hour away we will bring them there. I also we always give Long Animal Hospital's name to everyone I know.

Colby Bell

We have been fortunate to not have to bring our five year old schnauzer/terrier mix into the vet because she has always been so healthy. She just gets her yearly shots/vaccines. However, recently our sweet girl started throwing up a lot, so we took her in. Presley was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and was hospitalized overnight in the ICU. We have been to the clinic three times in the past two weeks and Dr. Foreman and the entire staff at LAH have been truly amazing to us. Most would agree that getting veterinary care for your animal can be stressful and lots of unknowns; however, this entire team made us feel so at ease and kept us updated each step along the way. I can't thank Dr. Foreman and the amazing vet technicians enough for getting our girl back on the road to being well again! Y'all are the absolute best! If you are looking for compassionate, dedicated and animal loving veterinarians and staff members, don't look any further - Long Animal Hospital is the best in town.

We have been taking both of our dogs, Lola and Einstein, to receive veterinary care at Long Animal Hospital for a couple of years. Our pups always receive excellent care when we take them in. The front office / checkout staff are friendly and efficient, and we never have to wait too long to be seen. I recently brought Einstein for a walk in visit after he popped the stitches on his head from a cyst removal. While we were waiting to be seen, someone called in with an emergency situation. I was impressed that a staff member actually went outside to wait for her in the parking lot so she could be taken in as soon as possible for her dog to be seen. Dr. Jonathan Marrone was our vet. He took time to listen to me, and he was friendly and gentle with our very shy pup. He had excellent bedside manner and took good care of Einstein. I highly recommend Long Animal Hospital to anyone who wants the best care for their pet.

Becca Starkes

We've had nothing but good experiences with Long Animal Hospital. We take our 9-year-old cat and our 1-year-old puppy here, so we've dealt with VERY different situations for our pets as they're in different stages of life. Our cat had to have her teeth extracted (all that were remaining) over the summer, and I got a few different opinions before settling on LAH for the surgery. Other local clinics quoted me MUCH higher rates and could not do X-rays to really see what was going on, and some just referred me to an expensive specialist who would have charged us an arm and a leg. When I got the bill after the surgery, it was extremely reasonable considering the degree of damage/infection we were dealing with, and they accept CareCredit which helped us easily afford it. But what was most important to me was that my senior girl was MUCH healthier and so much happier after the procedure (and no complications!). When we adopted our puppy in August, it was a no-brainer that we'd take her to Long Animal Hospital too. From the front desk to the vets and technicians, we've had nothing but friendly and patient service. If you live in the area, you'd be silly not to bring your pets here.

I have been taking my animals to Long Animal Hospital for almost 10 years now. They have always been wonderful, taking good care of my cats Cecil and Otis, and my dog Freddy. Thorough, caring and friendly. Highly recommended!

Today I had a worst case scenario play out. I was worried about my 6 month old kitten's breathing and brought her in without an appointment. Upon seeing her symptoms and looking at her gums, Sandi at the front immediately sprung into action and brought my baby back to triage. Sandi remained calm and extremely sweet and soft spoken throughout, as she got my information in and a brief history of Tigerlily, my kitten. Doctor Colbertson...Cuthbertson? (I think?? I asked her name and just looked online but didn't see any names that sounded right) was also amazing and honest and straight forward. She was gentle but didn't sugarcoat anything, which I appreciate very much. They took xrays and found that Tigerlily's lungs were filled with fluid, most likely from acute onset FIP. We decided it was best to put her out of her misery as she had a history of a poor immune system and wasn't likely to respond well to treatment. Not to mention the costs I couldn't even afford to ask about. The doctor pet Tigerlily's head with me and lulled her to sleep in the most loving way I could have hoped for. Sandi gave me a huge hug on my way out as I was obviously sobbing. Their partnership/sponsorship with Animal Control saved me on the bill, although their pricing sounded lower than some places I have been recently anyway. It was a great big facility with incredibly loving and caring people. I am so grateful and so glad these were the people to bid farewell to my "Tigertootie" with me. I know they made the right decision and made it with her best interest in mind. My poor (long haired grey/black) girl is already missing her best friend.

From Jennifer who took my call to the woman that checked us out, excellent staff. Special thanks to Dr. Wittman & his assistant w/ pink highlights, as I failed to get her name. Maggie is back to her normal self.

Mariana Campos

Took my cat here for his teeth extractions after getting high estimates from other locations, some would not even give me an idea, but Long Aninal Hospital gave me the best estimate and now my cat is so happy now, no more pain!

Matthew Konst

We have had nothing but great experiences with all of the services we have received here for our cats and dogs. Their emergent and after hours services are excellent and the routine care and appointments are always delivered on time and excellent.

richard loftis

I have appreciated the care provided for both of my dogs, however, I don't want to be lectured, or more accurately, shamed into believing that not spaying my dogs is irresponsible. There are plenty of valid reasons for not electing to put your dog through that procedure, and plenty of science to back that decision. A doctor/vet/scientist should offer objective advice as to the pros and cons (which are plentiful for both sides). That was not my experience. I was chastised, and made to feel irresponsible. It makes me wonder if the motive is either financial or if the vet was an ideologue.

Annette Tutterow Smith

Long Animal Hospital has been my one and only place I would trust to take care of my precious "Little Girl" Amber. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the Doctors took time to explain every step they took with Amber during the past 14 years. When I finally had to say goodbye, Dr, Kline stood by my girl and myself and described that she was just too weak and sick from her kidney disease to go on. We all said our goodbyes together. This hospital is to be trusted to take care of your precious animals and will tell you of the procedures which need to be done and give you a choice. Love you guys.. Thanks for all those years and good luck on your new place. Annette Tutterow

This is easily the best hospital I've ever brought my dogs to. I love that I can bring them for their wellness visits as well as any emergencies they have. I really love this hospital, the staff is nice, the doctors are knowledgeable, and everything is always so clean there. I also board my dogs here, and they always get excited whenever we go to the boarding area because they enjoy staying there. This place has seen my dogs for everything from vaccines to heat stroke, and I wouldn't want to take them anywhere else. I would and have recommended this hospital to many people.

Mary Nell Williams

Our cat had a bladder infection that was potentially deadly. We brought him and the staff and long hospital took him in right away. They were extremely responsive throughout the entire process and every time we called to check up on our cat it felt like he was the only animal in the hospital. I would highly recommend these guys. The staff and the doctors are fantastic.

Patti Bracken

Thank you for your kindness and attention in our emergency situation. My friend’s senior dog was suffering and needed to be relieved from his stress and discomfort. Janet S. was so calming and handled the details so we could help him over the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you

Megan Bailey

Like they have separate doors for cats & dogs. Dr. Marrone shows that he really cares for your pet, calling with test results over the holidays & making recommendations over the phone when your on the fence of coming in or not. Some vets you can worry if it’s just all about the money vs what your pet needs & I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that here!

Corrie Jenkins

I took my dog Miller in for an obstructed bowel I drove 40 min to them because they were willing to work on prices. Miller unfortunately did not make it but not without thorough research. The staff was beyond phenomenal I have never felt so cared for in a professional environment. Thank you long staff and Dr Yessid (sic) for making me feel at home and for taking care of my baby. If/When I am ready I will drive 40 min anytime for this treatment.

Rob Wilder

Long Animal Hospital seems to have a model wherein they only hire people who are friendly, helpful, and professional. Their staff is always welcoming and accommodating. Their vets are insightful and compassionate. They will talk with you on the phone, and their prices are reasonable, and even low compared to many clinics. They did great work for our dog and really helped his arthritis and other problems. When, after a long life, we had to euthanize him, the way they handled it made his death peaceful for our dog and somehow easier for us. My experiences with Long have all been positive, and I recommend them highly.

Tiffany Somers

Always friendly staff. Convenient and clean. I mainly picked this vet because they are also 24 hour emergency vet, and another greyhound owner suggested it. I like knowing if anything were to happen and we needed to rush him there, they would already know him and have in information on file. I do worry it might be a little pricey, as a stool sample is nearly $30. However I have not shopped around much as I am fairly happy here.

Renee Halstway

Great emergency veterinarian service. They did not take advantage of me financially because it was the middle of the night. I highly recommend this place to any one in need

Hands down, THE BEST, vet/hospital in the area. Caring, compassionate and patient. Our first experience with them was an emergency at 2 am on a a Sunday (our Pekingese's eye popped out & he ended up losing it). We've been going to them ever since.

Long Animal Hospital is great! My dog is definitely not the easiest, she gets anxious and cranky at the vet, and every nurse and doctor handle it flawlessly. They make accommodations, shower my pet with love, and treat me and her with respect. Prices are reasonable. Evening appointment times are great. Saturday drop in window is awesome! Overall, in the years that I've taken my pup to them, they have been great. Highly recommend.

Great place for my cat - I wish these folks were a regular vet - the little lady that helped me with my cat was an angel - I owe you angel-lady. I will not forget.

I live in Durham and received a call from my sister in Charlotte that her dog had passed away unexpectedly during the day. The nice people at Long helped me get my sister's dog registered with them so that all she had to do was bring in the deceased pet. It was a traumatic night for my sister and being able to alleviate even one small piece of the evening from a distance was so much appreciated. They also sent a sympathy card to my sister--for a dog they never knew while alive. That speaks volumes about the people of Long Animal Hospital. I can't tell you how much I appreciated all they did. Thank you!

I have been a client of Long Animal Hospital now for four years. Originally being very impressed with the services and attention. But lately I feel as though I am not getting the service and attention that is needed to address my two Labrador's needs. I just called in last week to get an estimate of how much it would cost to spay a female Labrador and was shocked at the price they quoted. They quoted me $485.00 for this service. This after just having my dog brought in for physical purple marks on her toes (possible yeast infection according to them). They prescribed three different medications in which did nothing to the condition. Prior to this visit I have routinely brought her in for her shots and medications for the care of a puppy. Each time I went in for these appointments spending in excess of $200 each visit. I realized they overlooked rabies vaccinations, medications I had to return to pick up after they failed to give me at the time of check out and the never ending introduction to new vet techs and doctors. Today after realizing that other animal hospitals were charging half of what they quoted for the dog's spay, made an appointment with another animal clinic. It is apparent that the service continues to go down and that I can no longer afford to keep going back and forth to obtain proper medical attention of my animals. Today I dropped my animal off to have spay at another animal hospital and the records you faxed over were incomplete and missing crucial information( Rabies vaccinations, Heartworm preventative, etc.all of which were administered by your hospital and never updated in your records. This is why I have chosen to go to another veterinary clinic so that my dog is taken care of appropriately and consistently without having to micro manage your hospital.

My family has taken our pets to Long for over 50 years. They are the best!

I've been a long term client of Long Animal Hospital and up until lately, I have been very pleased with their service. My dog has terrible skin allergies, so we find ourselves in their office about every three or four months. They aren't the cheapest vet solution, but I am willing to pay more to receive excellent care. Recently, I've had a few issues which have caused me to question whether I will continue to use their center. I had a terrible experience with a vet who I do not usually see a few Saturdays ago. I was informed that Saturdays were first come, first serve. I arrived around 9am and was taken back right away, but I got the feeling I was "just a number" by the way I was whisked in and out of the exam room. The vet barely examined my dog and just ordered refills on medications that have worked for her eye and ear infections in the past. He was in the room with us for about 3 minutes before he took my dog in the back to clean out her eye. He implied that he would return but never did. A tech brought my dog back along with a bag of meds, still costing me as much as I would have paid for an actual appointment with her normal vet. Secondly, I tried out their new grooming services a few months back. I was pleased with the salon I was currently using, but I liked the idea of having everything done at one place. I was very pleased with the groomer from the start. She gave me a behind the scenes tour and took very good care of my dog. Plus, my dog's haircut looked great. I called back to schedule a second appointment, and the operator told me if I dropped my dog off by 8am that she would be ready to pick up by mid afternoon, meaning I could get her on my lunch break, another first come/first serve process. I dropped her off promptly at 8am and when I called to check in at 1:30, I was told they had not even started on my dog. At this point, they told me it will be closer to 4:30 or 5 before she is ready. Even though we received great service the first time, I will NOT be returning for grooming services. I hate the thought of my poor dog sitting in a cage for 6 hours before being groomed. I will return to Petsmart where they guarantee me an appointment time and will be finished in four hours. I just don't agree with the way the schedule works at Long Animal Hospital. I'm hoping their new location has thrown them off a bit. I'm going to give them one more chance.

A friend of mine broke up a dog fight between her dog and another dog in the park. She ended having to go to the hospital and I was responsible for taking care of both dogs and getting them the appropriate care (one dog had multiple puncture wounds and the other was not up to date on rabies and needed to be quarantined). A Banfield Pet location recommended Long Animal Hospital and I immediately drove there. I didn't have any pet records and did not know all the details of what had happened. Kerri (I am not sure how to spell her name) assisted me all night calling animal control, the pet owners, and following up with the doctors. What seemed like a chaotic situation was made much smoother. This is by far the best customer service I have received from a vet. I am so pleased with how smoothly they took care of everything I am now making them my vet for both of my dogs! Thank you SO much!!!

These people are awesome! They talked me down at 4:30 am from panic after my 85lb Great Pyrenees got into the garbage and ate about 20 baby back rib bones. He explained all my options from good to bad and was so understanding about my situation. In the end, she is going to be fine and I did not have to bring her in for treatment but it was sure a comfort to have such a calm, friendly and knowledgeable voice on the other end of the phone at 4:30 am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Long Animal Hospital!

Thor receives outstanding care and everything is explained in advance as to treatment. Comfort of the animal AND THE OWNER is evident. Dr. Carrie Uehlein conveys absolute professionalism, caring and a passion for animals. The staff conveys efficiency and pride in their work. This company knows its business.

I really think all vets do a good job. These guys were recommended so we went and they have a nice modern facility. I had to take my dog in for the blood check for his med level. Gave him his last dose this AM. Told the tech we were out of the drug and she said she did not want to refill the entire script in case dosage changed - smart. I suggested giving us two tablets - one for tonight and one for tomorrow and then get the full script with confirmed dosage. I paid $11 for 60 of these tabs in Dec. They wanted $4 for the 2 holdover tabs. $2 per tablet!!!!!! I complained and was told the more you buy they less they are per tablet. I was stunned at this completely transactional mind set. I did not get them. We’ll get the new dosage this afternoon or tomorrow and I’ll order the meds on-line. I know everyone has to make a living and I didn’t mind paying a slight premium to deal with local professionals. But I don’t like being gouged.

My little Sosa kitty is making a speedy recovery after having to go to the emergency room last Sunday morning.... Thank you to the staff at Long's Animal Hospital for taking such great care of my baby ❤

Very disappointed in Long...!!! Had my dog in last week for vaccinations & set up appt with Dr while in examination room for teeth cleaning & removal of a small growth below his rt eye... He quoted me the price & it was going to Be $350 for cleaning & $75-$100 to remove growth , which I could afford & stressed I’m on a budget...He entered all info required, regarding pre-opt blood work into computer & also a nail trimming while under...Everything was set in stone and I came for the appointment at 8 AM upon check in the Receptionist had no clue what we were there for making me answer all these questions again & trying to up sell on nail trimmings & ear cleaning, then has me sign everything, but before I’m leaving I question the bill & shown what I just signed saying the minimum today will be $795 and could possibly be $1500 after Dr quoted me... The Vet hosp on Monroe rd was way less & was going to remove growth for free if we did teeth cleaning because he would already be under & it would be a simple snip & stitch... I feel this is a racket, almost highway robbery & they were definitely trying to take advantage of me. I took my dog and left after receptionist & tech couldn’t answer why my quote had now doubled possibly tripling & why that would not be mentioned till after me signing release & having to question their competence in knowing why he was their in the 1st place & what was being done & if I hadn’t questioned bill I would have left him thinking he was in caring qualified hands & returned to pick him up to a bill I couldn’t afford or would not have agreed to... Very unprofessional & not even a call from a manager or supervisor in regards to my walking out & feeling taken advantage of. Stick to small town one or two Vet practices, this place is a racket...

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!! All they care about is the money. It's absolutely disgusting. We took our cat here the other day who was severely dehydrated and running a high fever. He was in pain and was not eating or drinking water for a few days. First off, when we got in the exam room the doctor didn't even bother to shake our hands ask us how we were or anything. Never asked what our names were or gave a crap about anything. He didn't even acknowledge our cat who was underneath the bench crying. When we got our cat on the exam table our cat was very upset. The vet was too scared to even examine him. He said he didn't want to check his gums because he was too afraid to stick his finger in his mouth. What kind of vet is too scared to examine an animal? So after he "examined" him all he said was he looks sick. Then immediately went to find his assistant to print up an estimate for everything he felt needed to be done. She came back and the estimate was 1,200 for the high end and 950 for the low end. 950 Is LOW?!? First of all they wouldn't even do a blood test without the money given to them at that moment. They told us it looks like his liver is having issues because his ears and gums were turning yellow. So of course we were scared and very worried when they started talking about his liver. We asked them what we could do as far as payment plans and they said payment plans weren't their favorite thing to do. They said we could pay 750 today and the rest two days later... But that was their only payment plan that they would do for us. We told them we could not pay that. And then the vet goes on saying it is urgent that we get our cat on an IV and a blood test because of how sick he was. We told him we could not pay that right now so he said there was nothing they could do for us unless we pay right then and there. We asked him what we could do then and he said we could try another hospital that will work with us and "good luck". He never apologized never said anything to make us feel better or anything. Anyway we went to another vet the next day who actually cared about animals instead of money. They saw our cat and immediately showed a lot of concern. They took him right away and did a blood test and found that he had pancreatitis and that his liver was holding on to fat and was starting to malfunction and that it was urgent to get him on IV fluids and on medicine. Within 15 minutes they took our cat to be hospitalized. They said if we came in any later his liver would be so damaged that we would have to put him down. Long Animal Hospital turned away a cat on the verge of death because they only care about the money. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS VET!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS!!!!! The entire staff at Long Animal Hospital should be ashamed of themselves, especially the "doctor" we saw. I don't even know his name because he never introduced himself to us. I am absolutely disgusted with this place.

Outstanding team at Long Animal! I have taken my dog for 2 emergency visits (coco powder) and they are also his regular care provider. Wouldn't go anywhere else and all of my friends agree! Thank you for being so wonderful and patient with our pets!

Kelsey Burack

The staff is wonderful. The vets are nice. However, it's not cheap. A regular appointment racks up to be close to $140. When I called about spay fees, they said around $350 to $400 when the Human Society did it for $75 plus $15 for a micro chip. It's crazy! Like I said, great people, clean place, wonderful staff. Insane prices!

Alyssa Bowman

The staff here is wonderful! Dr. Fulton has treated both of our cats with so much compassion and kindness! I think the world of Dr. Fulton, she is a wonderful person!!!

Cheryl Campbell

Just yesterday I saw Dr. James who gave my dog an excellent annual exam. She is very caring with the animals and the owners as well! Long Animal Hospital is the BEST! I have entrusted all my animal's care to them for many many years.

First, the 5 Stars is for father and son Dr. Richard Killough and Dr. Brian Killough. There is NO getting around that these two men care for the animals and are knowledgeable. NOTE: People tend to forget that DOCTORS are HUMAN! They have bad and off days, make mistakes. They forget doctors are NOT gods and can NOT know EVERYTHING! Being from the medical profession, I know how several nasty, rude, mean patient / clients in a day, week, month can eventually get under the skin. The damn problem is Richard & surely Brian are too damn nice for their own good! My suspicion is staffers and quite possibly a or a few other veterinarians are TAKING ADVANTAGE of these two good men? I very nearly left LAH for good after they first moved to the new place. The desk females were rude, the scheduler made error on my appt date and time, it was a hot mess when I was already stressed out behind my 15 year old elderly, sick, near the end pup. Angry! The only reason I did not curse these two women was out of respect for the Killough's. I will NOT see anyone, but Richard or Brain, more so Brian as his father I'm thinking is simi retired now (guessing). I say this to make a point. Please do not give up on LAH, speak to the Killough's if you have a problem. They CAN'T correct what they are not aware of! If enough of us INSIST on seeing no one, but the Killough's, I'm thinking the point will be made (sidestepping an emergency naturally - some help is better than none.) If it hadn't of been for Richard Killough, I would of lost my pup 5 years early, I didn't have any money at the time, but HE made sure I was worked with. Because of him I got to spend FIVE more years with my boy! Yes I see the crazy prices for med's, nuet, spay, vac's etc... TALK to the Killough's! Doctors don't generally get to involved with the front of the office business. They shouldn't have too! I will stick with them and expect them to be "human".

I was away for Memorial Weekend and my father drove a hour to see the vet because my Westie has a history of skin problems. Normally a vet will give her steroids to treat and antibiotics. My dog was biting her fur out and caused some infections. The vet Jonathan Marrone did not want to give my father a full 10 days of medicine and only gave her 5 pills. I had to come back early and deal with this mess that he caused. I believe the vet wanted me to come back and pay another $60 exam fee. He stated that he did not give a full 10 days of medicine because he was worried that I was going to overdose my dog. My dog was still biting out her fur when I came back due to his incompetence. I would not recommend this vet to anyone. I had to call to try to speak to him and the front desk acted like they could care less. They said he would call me back after he was done with a patient, which did not happen.

Sylvia Gladden

They took such good care of my Chihuahua. She had a badly messed up foot prior taking her to another vet. The other vet claimed that she needed amputation! Long Animal saved her foot from this to happen. She is all better kept her foot & is running around as a happy furbaby!!! Thank you Long's!!! You are the bestest!!!!

Ryan Swierszcz

Dr. Marrone and his staff helped my family and I put our Bichon Frise to sleep today and they were respectful, compassionate, and patient. Highly recommend as they did a great job.

Longer review that includes another vet office but I found that a lot of people went through something similar. I took my dog in to AAA vet after Long Animal Hospital messed up her blood test but wouldn't give me details and treated her obvious bite marks as a rash. Long did a blood sample, gave us basic anti biotics and some powder and sent us home. I was not happy with the rash diagnosis and my dog was uncomfortable, so 2 days later when the vet asked me to bring her in again because her levels were "off" but wouldnt give me a reason why, I got a second opinion from AAA. I showed them her file, including her recent bloodwork which the vet saw was compromised almost in a comical way. A few days pass and Long called. I didn't tell them I had a second opinion and knew about the test results being compromised but instead kept asking why she needed another blood sample so soon and I had questions about the results. I flat out, after multiple calls where I tried to get some answers, asked the vet if he was just having me come in because it was less tedious for him to draw blood again at my financial expense than talking to the lab and if that's why he was using vague language with me, so I would pay for another visit His answer: Yes Me: You know she went to another vet and he laughed at her results. Did you know her bloodwork was compromised? Is that why I wasn't getting any responses? His answer: I'm just giving you the results I was given. Me: but you're a vet. You read blood samples all day. You knew they were wrong. Him: yes. Me: and you didn't think that bloodwork that shows my dog could have a seizure at any moment was worth mentioning? Him: now why would I mention it if the results were compromised? I hung up because I was angry. Eventually their finance department called me to see if I had a good case to get some of my vet visit credited back, as I had told the doctor I wanted some of my vet visit back. They eventually reimbursed the cost of the blood work, which was 1/3 the cost, but only after defending their doctor, "I just don't understand how you had that experience with him" and offering me credit to the vet which I refused. We are now fully at AAA. Not only did they get to the bottom of what was up with my dog, but they gave her stronger anti biotics for the puncture, some pain meds and fixed her incontinence with meds. Something long animal hospital couldn't figure out but kept charging me for. Most recently, I took her in to get teeth removed while under anesthetic. Here the doctor not only removed four teeth but he reopened her wound that wasnt healing, cleaned it and put in some antibiotic liquid in it, sealed it back up, cut her nails and treated her ears for an infection all for less than a regular visit at Long! My dog walked out happy, rubbing all over the vet, who then sat with me and really knew my dog. Something my dog has never done. At Long her anxiety kicks in and she has to be carried. We reviewed her chart and as he spoke I could tell he cares for her and truly wants to make sure she lives a long, happy life. To AAA my pets are extensions of me, not just another dollar sign on four paws like i felt they were at Longs. I would also like to bring up that Long for so long charged me to find out what my other dog was allergic to. Thousands and thousands of dollars later, I took him off the food they were prescribing to him, something I suggested continuously but was told had nothing to do with it, and his allergies all went away! I took him back and they asked what I did, so I admitted it. The vet just laughed and said " we shouldve listened to you Hahaha". Seriously, avoid Long at all costs. Take your babies to AAA. Let them get loved on, snuggles and butt scratches without being charged for them.

My daughter has been coming there for many many years. My mom and dad also went there for their cat care. Now my daughter has lost her precious Zoe. The vets sent Zoe to be cremated. Unfortunately they mislabeled her to not have her ashes sent back to my daughter. That was not what they wanted. Now they will NEVER have Zoe back. I will NEVER recommend this vet to ANYONE. Be VERY CAREFUL with this office.

Benjamin Helbein

Wonderful people and staff! Richard and Brian Killough are as talented and gifted with their expertise as they are experienced! If you love your animals, take them too Long.

Sarah Thomson

Great place, amazing compassionate souls work here! We have had 2 dogs receive emergency care here with poor prognosis both times & Dr. Diller, Dr. Messenger, and all staff/surgeons that cared for our pets multiple day stays in ICU level care provided above excellent care and love. Steven and Megan helped tremendously to get our dogs through the rough nights in ICU on many occasions. The physicians and assistants called us all the time providing updates and never allowing us to feel that they were too busy. They always welcomed us with our visits to see our pups and took great care in answering questions before we even had them. Love this team!

Lisa Marie

Top notch and compassionate. We cannot thank this place enough for their compassion during such a sensitive time. Because of the wonderful treatment both in person and on the phone, our family will be transferring our pets here. We appreciate the fact that they took time to explain everything on initial phone contact and had a private room prepared upon arrival and worked with us on the paw print for our deceased cat, Suave. Thank you!

ricardo sarmiento

Excellent service especially the professional named jazmin, my English is not the best and she had the patience and helped me understand the diagnosis of my cat preto, very happy and grateful for the attention received

Kristen Zabalavicius

The entire staff at Long is amazing! Dr. Dellar is so sweet, compassionate, knowledgeable, and passionate about her work. As a first time guest, I have told all of my friends and family about Long and I will continue to bring my furbaby to Long from now on.

David Chapman

I just want to thank everyone at Long for being so courteous and friendly! We brought our little one in and they treated her like a queen! Service was very fast and thorough, assuring us that she will be fine in no time! Thanks again!! Will be coming back for all of our pet needs!

Maggie Lengemann

Long Animal Hospital has been there for our family twice when we really needed them. They took care of us both times in a kind, professional and efficient manner. Thank you for your services and for being reasonably priced!

Ann Crescitelli

We needed a vet for our Bearded Dragon. I was relieved to find one at all that was local AND open at night. I was overjoyed to find that the Exotic Animal Vet there was Wonderful!!! Very Experienced, knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring. And the staff was great too. Our visit was topped off by a surprisingly low bill. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this clinic!

Bradley Williams

We use Long Animal Hospital for their emergency and 24 hour care. While they aren't our regular Vet, they have always done a fantastic job. Our senior dog had a number of issues and we had to take him in after our regular vets hours to be put down. While this was extremely hard for us, they were very compassionate and caring. They have also seen our puppy after an insect sting that caused swelling. They took their time to make sure he was alright before he was discharged.

George Montgomery

This place deserves NO STARS!! DONT HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL, AND MOVES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE OF URGENCY. AT LEAST 3 STAFF MEMBERS INSIDE AND TOOK ALMOST 20 MINUTES TO GET IN. ATROCIOUS!!!! EVEN THREATENED NOT TO TREAT OUR DOG THAT WAS BLEEDING IN MULTIPLE PLACES. ITS ABSOLUTELY SICKENING!!! I GUESS VETS DONT DONT TAKE ANY OATH. "You should have called 1st" is what we were told. Dont advertise yourself as a 24 hour emergency vet then. I will DEFINITELY be calling the AAHA to file an offical official complaint.

Keri Bartholomew

Each and every time we have called for an immediate appointment we have gotten in. Every time we have brought our Doodle in, we have been treated so well! Prices are fair, doctors are authentic and staff is terrific! Best vet we have ever been to.

Melissa Santiago

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!!... I came in on a Saturday signed in around 1:50 pm, I got out of there around 5:00pm. Staff is so careless, they skipped me over people that showed up way later... I sat quite close to the reception counter, the told everyone the same greeting script they told me; "we are busy, we had an emergency, there's a waiting period of 1 and half to 2hr"!!! ... I HAD to keep my composure, I needed the medication. Super condescending, talking to me as if because I didn't dress all pompous it meant I didn't have money? Their prices didn't catch me off guard, but for that garbage of service. Horrible place, sketchy dealings, disgusting service, dirty exam room and even worse staff on "emergency hours". This place might of have been decent back in the day, what it has become is nothing but a facade. Don't focus on the "good" reviews, analyze the bad ones.

Brandon Winstead

If I could give them 10 stars I would to make up for some of the overly negative reviews that state they do not care about your animal and just want your money. We have never once had this experience, but also we have never found a vet that didn't ask for a deposit on a major surgery or procedure. We took Rocky (10 year old Rottweiler Mix) for the last 2 years driving past at least 3 Vets to get him to Long each time. Dr. Samantha Fulton is so down to earth, compassionate, and approachable. Dr. Fulton always handled Rocky with the utmost care and respect. We fought a lot of issues over the last year and she was always there to talk on the phone and answer our questions and often she would call us out of the blue to follow-up and check on Rocky. When we get our next pup you can 100% believe he/she will be seeing Dr. Fulton. Unfortunately on September 23rd our Rocky went to the Rainbow Bridge. He fought a good fight but stupid cancer finally won the war. He became very sick on September 21st and stopped eating and could not even lift himself up to walk. We quickly rushed him to Long and they immediately took him in. We were really concerned because Dr. Fulton was out of town and would not be able to see him. He was assigned to Dr. Zack Yasin and we immediately became comforted because Dr. Yasin's approach was very similar to Dr. Fulton's. Zack's bedside manner was incredible. He explained every test, etc to us and told us of all of our options as we tried to ensure we gave Rocky every chance possible to survive without causing undue suffering. Sadly after 2 days of no response to major league antibiotic it became apparent that our boy was tired and could no longer fight his battle. We had to make the hardest decision of our lives. We spent a few hours with him in the back with Dr. Yasin right by our side comforting us as we transferred all our love into Rocky for him to hold in his heart until we could see him again in heaven. This comfort was above and beyond and we knew Dr. Yasin genuinely cared for us and our Rocky. Two days after Rocky's passing we visited to debrief with Dr. Yasin and Dr. Fulton since she was now back in town and they were still deeply concerned for us and how we were feeling. We know for a fact that we did absolutely everything we could for Rocky and that he knew how much we loved him and how much they did as well. Never once was he scared to going in to Long for his visits. When Rocky passed we were never asked for a penny until over a month later when a bill was sent to the home for his IV's and equipment. Prior to the bill arriving we received a follow up call from Dr. Fulton to check on us as well as a sympathy card signed personally by everyone there. Rocky was a very special dog and this is a first-class organization. Thank you Long for you care and compassion.

Other services were great, but do not get your animal euthanzized at this facility. I am so distraught right now. Saturday night, I rushed Zina a kitten to the emergency vet because she had wounds on both sides of her neck in which one of the wounds appeared to be infected. The wounds looked as though a dog attacked her. While at the vet, they removed a bot fly maggot from one of the wounds which was very disgusting. Zina was so infested with fleas that she was given a Cap Star and was given a antibiotic for the infection. That visit was great visit. On Sunday while at work, my son sent me a video of Zina having trouble breathing. Once I arrived home from work, I rushed Zina back to the emergency vet. The veterinarian ran blood tests and told me Zina needed a blood transfusion because she was anemic from the fleas and the cost would be around $1,600. I didn't have that kind of money so the only other option was to euthanize her. Thankfully I was able to spend some time with Zina before she was euthanized. The veterinarian took Zina out of the room and returned with the 1st IV in her leg. I was holding Zina while they were administering the 3 medicines and I noticed my stomach was getting wet in which I thought Zina urinated on me. Little did I know the wetness was coming from the 3 shots that were not entering her vein. The veterinarian took Zina back out of the room to insert the 2nd IV. Once they put her to sleep and brought her back in the room to me, I noticed the other leg was shaved where they put the 2nd IV. Had they shaved Zina's other leg to make sure the IV was place correctly the first time, I would've been able to hold Zina in my arms when she passed and I am angry at them for not placing the 1st IV correctly. Please make sure if your animal is being euthanized that the veterinarian shaves the area first to ensure the IV is placed properly so you don't have to go through a horrible experience like I did. Sad part is, that was the first time I had to put a animal to sleep. Now I have to live the rest of my life remembering what happened.

UPDATE: My boyfriend called and spoke to someone about our experience and they scheduled us a 6:00 appt that night. This visit was like night and day compared to the last one. None of the people we had struggle with were there this time, and our visit was quicker, everyone was more friendly and attentive, and his paw is wrapped much better and not bleeding everywhere anymore. The re-wrap was done free of charge and and we feel much better about his healing process this time around. I truly appreciate the hospital righting the situation... but that's how the first visit should've gone! Doesn't cancel out that first experience, but they've redeemed themselves somewhat. Adding a star. Our visit was truly one of the most stressful and infuriating we've had in a long time at an animal hospital. Our dog cut his pad open, and the wound wouldn't stop bleeding, so we decided to bring him here. Here are the issues we had - and it's a long one... We had his paw wrapped in a strip of cloth and paper towels to avoid infection and him bleeding everywhere. We asked the brunette girl up front to look at it while we were waiting, she took him back, and then walked him back out and said "Yeah it's pretty bad" meanwhile he's bleeding all over the lobby floor because she didn't wrap it back up - and she clearly doesn't care and goes back to her desk. Once in the exam room (after waiting 30 mins), his routine "exam" consisted of simply weighing him and cost over $60. Once we saw the doctor, he was great. He answered all our questions and gave us pain meds and antibiotics. They wrapped his paw in gauze and wrap and said to keep this same dressing on for one week. As we walked up front, he immediately started bleeding through the gauze and all over the floor. My boyfriend pointed this out, the girl came and looked at it, and basically didn't do anything about it and rang us up. My boyfriend asked if he could either be re-wrapped or if we could have extra gauze to bring home so we could change it ourselves. She said we would be charged for the extra gauze. The bill was already $128 for basically some gauze, dog advil, and antibiotics (which I'm sure were standard generic aka cheap), so understandably we were extremely upset that they would charge for extra gauze that only costs a couple dollars, especially when the dressing they did themselves didn't even work and he was bleeding on their floor again! The girl at the check out desk was extremely rude about it and argued with my boyfriend calling him "Sir" in a condescending way that implied he was making a scene (he wasn't). He explicitly asked her to go back and ask the doctor to fix it or give us more gauze, so she did. She came back with MAYBE one change of gauze and said, "If you need more, Walmart sells it" in a very firm rude tone and then went and did something else. No goodbye, no friendliness, no thank you for waiting over an hour, no sorry for the inconvenience, no nothing. And after all that, we still feel we were extremely overcharged and his paw keeps bleeding every time he walks (hours and hours after it happened), and we'll have to go buy more gauze ourselves. How did the doctor think this dressing would last a whole week?? I highly recommend NOT going to this animal hospital. The women up front were both extremely rude, his pad really wasn't even taken care of, and we were overcharged for presumably generic antibiotics and an extremely un-thorough "exam." The whole experience made us feel disrespected, taken advantage of, stressed, and unimportant.

I've been going to Long Animal Hospital for many many years and would have recommended them up to recently. The practice now seems like a large profit making corporation without that "personal" touch like it used to have. There are now at least a dozen vets working there, a retain store, grooming etc...all money makers for this company. My cat whose has been a patient of Long for at least 8 years was recently in ICU there in severe condition...he had to ultimately be transported to another facility due to his condition in which they recommended euthanasia. As hard as it was I followed their guidance and euthanized my little guy. I received a bill in the mail for Long and subsequently called to pay it. Long didn't even realize my cat had died weeks ago...None of the vets or techs ever called to check up on him after the transport. This was really a huge disappointment. They have so many pets that yours will most ;likely becomes just a number...It's a huge let down when your pet has been going to a facility for years and years and none of the vets even acknowledge your loss. As a result, I will be taking my dog and any of my future pets to another vet with a more personalized touch.

We take our dog child here when headed out of town. What we like most is that they have play time with other animals in the same room, but are divided and can't really come in contact with them. We have a bulldog, she's about a foot tall and weighs some 50lbs (she's big boned, obviously), so in most other places she's be out to play with the larger dogs. I read in many animal care facilities that many dogs are injured from more aggressive ones, and I'd hate to put ours in that situation. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and when I call to check in on Missy Moo they happily let me know how she was doing. Nightly rates are also very reasonable and they have a full grooming section as well.

I have nothing but positive and rave reviews for this place. I've been there 3 times now and I have had such a wonderful experience every time. The first two times I came in crying and panicked from a sick dog and they (Dr. Phillips and then again Dr. Whittmann) both took great care of my dog. I live in Matthews and will drive the 35 minutes make Long's my permanent vet because I have had a positive experience every time.

Amber Severson

Worst experience ever. Long waiting times and was charged a lot of money only to have my animal come home in the exact same shape she was in before (that was not the expectation set by the vet at all!!) and now they want more money for me to put her to sleep less than a week later. I will never take any of my animals here ever again.

Kayla Chambers Stern

Seems to be more of a corporation looking to make money, than a vet who actually cares for your dog. Also, the vets are not on the same page as far as vaccine schedules they recommend. I was told a few weeks ago my puppy was totally done with shots until December. We brought him in to get groomed 3 weeks later, and they recommended that we get another shot and a stool sample. If we would have known he needed another shot or they recommended he get another shot, we would not have had him at dog parks, etc,. Seemed to me that either 1) they just wanted to charge a vet visit that day, simply because he was there or 2) one of the vets didn't know what they were talking about regarding vaccines. Either way, I am not happy with them. The groomers are AWFUL. Went in and told them to trim around the eyes and trim nails. She said she would do a small trim on his fur. Came to pick up my pet, and he was shaven. We brush him twice a day and he had ZERO mattes. After sharing my story, I have had 3 other people tell me the same thing happened to their pets. We will not be back. I advise anyone looking to find a smaller practice, with a more personal touch who actually cares.

I brought my dog to this facility for a second opinion about an injury. Wish I had never wasted my time or money here, wish I had never brought my injured dog here. I was misinformed greatly by several staff members, and I was deepky disturbed by the way my injured dog was being handled. All around bad experience here but thankfully my dog's injury was correctly taken care of at a different facility.

Perfect place for pups! Having my first pet often leaves me with a lot of questions and all of the staff at long animal is super helpful and always available to answer any questions. Being 24/7 is priceless to me! You’d be foolish to go anywhere else. Will be customers for life!

Sharon Hudson

Their care of our kitty was above and beyond. Thank you for the great service!!

This is where you find caring knowledgeable staff. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left, friendly, caring, great staff, prices are very affordable. I have a happy pet and a new vet. Great day!

Dee Ogburn

Dr Blackwell and all of the after hours emergency staff at Long Animal Hospital are incredibly caring, helpful and exactly what you want at a time of need for your pet. They were sensitive and lovingly cared for my son's hamster in his final hours. We appreciate them so much!

Amazing people doing and amazing job for animals. I thought it may be the end of days for our guy but the vet said he’s not ready to give up for us not to either and I’m happy to say he’s back to his old self and we are so very thankful for everything they did for us.

Jeff Millar

Excellent vet clinic highly recommend! Extremely happy with the care Dr Richard Killough provided for my 12 yr old rottweiler diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. Very fairly priced as well. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Derviş Barış

Terrible surgical experience. I took two doberman puppies to get their ears cropped here. The crop is terrible. The surgeon tried to jack up the prices the day of surgery instead of sticking to what he quoted me originally. I have to get corrective surgery on my dog. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.

I would like to leave a 5 star review based on the vet that I now bring my babies to, Dr. Deller, but several management and administrative issues prevent that. 1. I have had some really rude and defensive interactions with girls at the front desk. 2. Parking. When you are bringing in an animal in distress, not being able to get a parking spot and having to drive around the block multiple times or park up the street is a pretty big deal. When I mentioned this to the girl at the front at my recent visit, she immediately got an attitude with me, and even said "yeah sometimes when I get here I have to park on the street." The owners know that parking is a problem, and employees should definitely be parking on the street rather than in the lot if the owners don't want to do anything about the situation. People park to go to Mac's and other places nearby; I see someone parking then walking elsewhere every single time I go to Long. Why not hire a parking attendant, or even do valet?? Try putting customers first and thinking outside the box. 3. I don't get offered an itemized paper receipt anymore, as it will supposedly be emailed to me right away. I have had to call in to get this receipt emailed to me every single time. 4. The first vet I saw when I came to Long was Dr. Brown, who diagnosed my cat with diabetes based on one blood sugar test. My cat is extremely terrified of getting in the car, and drools and pants the entire way (that's if we are lucky and avoid vomit or worse). After insulin nearly sent her into a coma and I revived her by syringing sugar water down her throat, I did more research. Stress can cause the blood sugar of a cat to shoot way up, and she should never have been diagnosed in her current condition. I began seeing Dr. Deller, and we now monitor her with a fructosamine curve that measures her average blood sugar over a period of time. 5. They have separate entrances for cats and dogs, but there is not a bit of separation once you are inside, so some customers just ignore this. Some also come in with very energetic dogs on way too long of a lead and basically let the dog do whatever they want. Not everyone likes dogs, and some are afraid of dogs! It would be great if staff would remind people of that. I am also quite concerned about some of the recent negative reviews that Long Animal Hospital has received in regards to insufficient or improper treatment, and a few terrible reviews about end of life care. Having on-call emergency care is fantastic, and all the vet techs I have seen have been great, but if my vet leaves I will likely be going back to Dilworth Animal.

My puppy was attacked by a raccoon, I took him to this facility to be helped, it’s $100 to be seen by the doctor and that’s all he was, was seen by the doctor. He was shaved in a few (3) places where he had wounds at which costed $33, we were then sent home with an oral pain medicine and 3 oral antibiotics. They sent my puppy back home in pain without starting him on any of the medications. Instead of giving him an injectable pain medicine and injectable antibiotic, they sent me home with a hurt pup and medicine he needed to take with food which of course he was not in the mood to eat after being traumatized. The medicine racked the bill up to $220. Take your loved one somewhere that it’ll get real treatment!

I've been going to Long Hospital for many years....specifically to Rich Wittmann....although the entire staff is wonderful. Dr. Wittmann has been my critters doctor for almost 18 years! I've had a bunch of cats and he has helped them live long, healthy lives. And then there were the times when tough decisions had to be made..he was, literally, a shoulder to cry on. I appreciate his caring, compassion and professional knowledge. He takes the time needed to answer any questions i may have. I've always said it takes a special cut of person to be a vet. I couldn't ask for a better person to tend to my cat's health and well being.

V C

Horrible hospital!

Lisa McLean

Worst experience I've ever had at a vet. Any my dog came home with fleas. Don't go here, they are ripping you off. Talked me into leaving my dog, basically guilted me into leaving my dog over night. It was completely unnecessary. And then our consolation prize was fleas. I recommend the vet in Dilworth so much more competent.

Holly Machado

Absolutely the best veterinary experience our family has ever had. Each staff member has been fantastic. The grooming salon does a great job. It's easy to make appointments. It's obvious that the people here really care about what they're doing. They even sent us a hand written sympathy card after our dog passed away. No negative comments whatsoever.

Ginny Robbins

I've taken my cat here twice and they've been very sweet and accommodating!

Brandon Spence

Our fur baby was extremely well taken care of by Dr. Phillips. The staff was all very accommodating and professional.

M H

Even with an appointment, the wait times are ridiculous (I.e., 30-45 minutes to put you in a room, and an additional 15-30 minutes before the doctor sees your pet). I would advise selecting another facility, unless you love hanging out in waiting rooms. Pros: the staff is courteous

Laura Hopkins

I was recommended Long Animal Hospital by my son, after I had just recently moved to thr Charlotte area. I had a 15 year old poodle whose health was deteriorating rapidly. I knew it was time. I took her to Long Animal Hospital. Not being a current client, I was absolutely amazed at the caring and compassion from the entire staff. They truly cared!!!! I now have a new pup and I immediately took Goose to LAH for a full checkup. We found he has heartworms. And we are going through the treatment plan. I know my new baby (2 years old) is in great hands. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality, compassionate care for your furbaby!!!

Lindsay Kreitzman

I loved along Animal Hospital up until yesterday. The upside of Long is their 24/7 emergency services and if make an appointment you can typically get in right away. We recently had to put a pet down and Long was really supportive and handled everything perfectly. The issue I experienced this week (which prompted my review) was related to my cat who we boarded there for a week to treat the house for fleas. I asked them to board the cat, update his rabies and give him a flea bath. The day before we picked him up I called asking them to prescribe a flea/tick medication. When we went to pick him up, we were charged for everything I asked for. They gave us the rabies certificate (unsigned by the vet, which was odd), but I asked about the flea/tick medicine and they weren't sure if it was actually administered. They checked his records and there was no note about the medicine or the rabies vaccine that he supposedly was given. Only a charge on the account, same as the rabies. We spent around $750 between home treatments for fleas and boarding our pets for the week. Not knowing if my cat was protected against future flea bites is a huge problem. Also now unsure if he received the rabies vaccine given the lack of records on either treatment. Either we assume it was not given to him and we give him another dose which could cause serious health issues or we go home and pray that they administered the treatment. The receptionist asked around and could not confirm either way. One day later and my cat has fleas on him (he also smells awful from the boarding as they did not keep a clean "luxury cat condo" for him). All Long offered in response was a free secondary dose of the flea/tick medicine in two weeks. Really?? How is that responsible for a vet you trust with your animals life and care? I am beyond disappointed with them and I'm now brushing my cat every two hours to make sure the fleas do not feed and procreate as we finally have the house under control. This will likely lead to us having to board the pets again and retreat the house. Given the amount of money we regularly spend here on our pets, I am extremely upset with how they have handled this. Would not recommend if you want a provider who keeps proper records of your pet care and provides clean boarding space for cats.

Lindsay Louya

Dr. Yasin is great! He really took time to go over some behavioral issues I was having with my cat. It is obvious he really loves and cares about the pets and their parents. Long has always promptly fit me in when I needed them! Even though I moved to the other side of town, Long is worth the drive!

I have officially found my dogs a new vet - This office was wonderful - Staff upon check in was VERY pleasant - Nurses wonderful and Dr was Amazing - he spent so much time with us and explained every detail...not rushing us...and answering all of our questions....he was very friendly...and personable....Very happy - and the best place around.....

Sherry Bitzel

Great people and very caring. Very affordable and knowledgeable! Cleanest vet office I've EVER seen! Definitely a nice surprise ! Going to transfer my babies records to here!

Meghan Knight

These people are honest people. We rushed our sweet 11 week old doberman to them in the middle of the night after a price quote on a an intussusception surgery at another clinic that we simply could not afford. Long reassured us that they would work with us on payments. They simply cared about getting that puppy into surgery and getting her help. They were very knowledgeable, caring, however honest. They told us from the beginning that our puppy may not make it and explained in thorough detail the risks involved. She made it through the surgery successfully, but unfortunately succumbed to the trauma of everything. We are heartbroken, but know that everything was done that could have been done, and that gives us peace.

I have been taking my dog to Long Animal Hospital since a puppy. Appointments are easy to get and they are open 24 hours; two major selling points They have never seem that organized: appointments scheduled and no one waiting yet you still aren't seen for 15 minutes after appointment time. Not a big deal, especially in medical field, but worth noting I have never been a fan of the rotating list of countless Vets they seem to have; with that many Vets, you have to have good documentation or the pet will not receive the correct treatment. This could be from not getting the treatment at all or doubling up on a treatment already given I experienced poor documentation as well as dishonesty First off, lets start by saying I have done everything this vet had suggested. I always take my dog in when they tell me the next item is due. I love this dog to death I experienced an odd encounter that I didn't think too much about until today. Last time he received his rabies shots, the Vet brought the tag back to me and said "Sorry, we are out of 2018 rabies tags, we can use this 2017 tag. It's ok since the date given is tracked by the ID number on the tag". I remember thinking "Oh great, he's going to be playing with a dog and their owner will think he's not up to date on his rabies shots" I didn't think much of it since the shots would actually be up to date. At end of the that appointment, I had asked when he was due next and was told Rabies in July 2019. When July comes around, I call to make an appointment and they tell me annual exam and rabies are due. I go in for the July appointment; of course I wait 20 minutes past appointment time, there were only two other dogs in the waiting room. When I get back to the exam room, they look over the records and tell me he's not due for rabies until the following year. I informed that two others from the office had told me he was due now. The lady then told me that his rabies had been out for a year; the last record they have is from 2017. I informed them of the previous encounter with the 2017 tag being given in 2018; and the lady informed that was illegal Of course, I'm furious. These people are in charge of the medical well being of this dog I love. At this point, I don't want them to do anything because their records aren't accurate and who knows what's actually due I walk out of the exam room and go to front desk and ask to speak to the owner\manager. We go back into an empty exam room to discuss. I go over the scenario and tell him about the situation. Almost every time I tried to speak, he was talking over me. I could never get a word in; he obviously wasn't listening as he was too busy talking. This goes on for 5 minutes. He's still not understanding the point and saying the issue is they labeled his shot as a 3 year shot in the system instead of a 1. Even though, the tag on his collar clearly states it is a 1 year tag. After I finally get the point across that he DID have a shot last year and I'm not upset because he's been without rabies vaccine for a year; but that I'm upset that their records are wrong; as well as finding out that it was illegal when they gave me 2017 tags in 2018 More so about the incorrect records since that could result in improper care for my buddy The "manager" said the Vets don't work with the tags; it's all dealt with by front desk. In my case it was not, I was given the tag in the exam room by the vet (wish I remembered his name) and he mentioned the reason for giving 2017 tags. I didn't know any better so took the Vet at his word To be continued in next review..

My husband and I started bringing our dog here after we rescued her and really felt like we had found a great vet who would take care of our pup. We recently rescued another dog about 1.5 months ago and about a week ago she started having some super serious GI issues. She was pooping blood and vomiting so naturally we took this pup to our same vet. We really had a great experience with the first vet that wasn’t the one I usually saw with our other dog previously. She really did her best to figure out what was going on with Hope and gave us an estimated total of all the tests she wanted to run. The tests were inconclusive and unremarkable so we left with 8 medicines that were supposed to be therapeutic care at home. We bought food and all the medicines and while it worked for about 3 days, our dog started having bloody diarrhea again and vomiting. I came back in with an appointment with a vet that i had never seen before but I didn’t think much about it because I was more concerned about my dog who was very sick. He examined her, looked through her previous tests and results and told me he wanted to run some more tests for pancreatitis or Addison’s disease and do another ultrasound. This vet used huge words and didn’t really take the time to explain what he was talking about unless I said “and what’s that?” I asked him what he would do if this was his dog and he was like “well I’m not sure what’s really going on so it’s hard to say”. If you have ever been in a situation where you’re in new territory ie your dog having severe medical needs, his response wasn’t exactly encouraging to me. He brought me back an estimate of about $400 which included the 2 new tests, the ultrasound, and some IV medicine. I had to leave her there for the day so that another more experienced ultrasound vet could perform her ultrasound. When I got the call back from him, he said that there were some abnormalities in her gut and that they wanted to do exploratory surgery. He didn’t give me any other options, said he wanted to just get her in to surgery so he could figure out what was going on with her. He made sure to tell me that the surgery could also be inconclusive. After talking with my husband we decided we wanted to leave her there over night for the fluids and think about surgery. It was going to cost between $2,000 and $3,600 for the surgery which is a lot of money for a young couples! So here it is: we decided to go get a second opinion from a holistic vet. We wanted to see what other options there were besides harsh medicines and the food we were feeding her. So we communicated that we were going to be doing that and Long was totally fine with it. Sure leave your dog, she’s hooked up to the IV getting more fluids. Her overnight stay was $65 which was fine. What wasn’t fine was they our original $400 bill found its way to the $800. So it doubled instead of being $465 including her overnight stay. When my husband came to get her, they told him the total, he was like um no that’s not what you guys told us originally, they sent a manager of some sort to come talk to him and the manager said something to the effect of you’re right it is wrong but you can get on a payment plan? NO WAY. The invoice of what they did included multiple injections of the medicines I had already purchased AND brought with me to my appointment. So we spent $400 more on medicine we had already bought. They didn’t contact us About administering more medicine, they didn’t ask for a go ahead, they did it anyway. All together we feel like Long took advantage of us and our situation. Because they weren’t 100% sure what was going on with our dog, they just gave her a ton of medicine and fluids and tests to all come back inconclusive. Now, I’m not a vet, but I do know that it’s really easy to take advantage of your knowledge and make patients and pup parents feel like them spending a ton of money is the only way to help them. To NOT have another option than $3,000 surgery seems really sketchy and less like people that want to help animals and just want to make money.

I brought my dog in for chronic skin issues, payed $400+ for lab testing, medication, and vet service. I never received a follow up and it turns out that my dog has a staph infection that was unaffected by the drugs they gave us. I had to have another vet pull the records in order to see my results which were then finally addressed All in all the vet service is there but it seems like they are so busy and successful that it is very easy to fall through the cracks. Are you a vet that is there for profit or do you actually want to help?

Karla Owens

We are a rescue and have lots urgent veterinary problems. The staff at Long Animal are some of the best we have encountered. They were very responsive and helpful with our hurt dog and so kind. We will definitely recommend Long Animal to all of our adopters in the future.

I’ve been a long-time client of the Killoughs and I’m taking my business elsewhere. Dr. Killough Sr used to be a great vet but he refuses to retire and his declining health is becoming a danger to his patients. During my last few appointments he got easily confused and kept forgetting what he was talking about. I don’t trust him enough to do a routine exam, let alone a surgery (he still does over a dozen surgeries a week)! It’s only a matter of time before he has an accident and a pet dies. And I know they’ve always had problems keeping staff but they have an entirely new reception staff every 6 months. The only girl I’ve seen every visit is a really nice brunette girl with glasses but she probably won’t last long either. I’ve seen clients yelling at those girls at the top of their lungs and me or other clients have had to step in because management never does. They obviously don’t take care of their people and it shows in the quality of customer service. Go somewhere else.

Thank you for everything, really top notch service ,when u need it!

Since my 16 year old Persian cat had multiple severe heart attacks after having heart problems for a while, we had to rush on a Saturday night to the nearest Emergency clinic (the Long Hospital) because we knew we had to say good bye to our four legged 'baby' and she was our 'baby' since my husband and I don't have children. The moment we rushed into the clinic the sweet front desk Lady and the doctor were absolutely terrific!! Very professional and very compassionate. Even in the midst of this very sad day for us we were blown away from the Staff that evening! We even received a handwritten beautiful card where they expressed again their condolences. We are very grateful and thankful for such a professional team.

My poor sweet baby Maya injured her back leg resulting in 3 severed tendons. Dr. Debra James immediately called me when she discovered the extent of the injury. Because of the severity of the injury she recommended that we go to a specialist to have it repaired. She spent the time to call 2 different hospitals to find a surgeon to perform the repair that day. I greatly appreciate her wonderful bedside manner and the extra time she took to ensure that Maya received the best care. Thank you so much!

A nervous Mom, for the 1st time taking my 10 year old 65lb. Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix canine child, Charlie, for grooming services at Long's Animal Hospital, was pleasantly surprised! Regardless of being a spoiled only dog, he was comfortable at Long's having experienced veterinarian visits. When Michelle, the groomer, rubbed on him and took him to his visit Charlie was hesitant but not too anxious. Michelle offered that nervous Mom could call to check on him. Charlie's appointment was at 3pm, but I received a call at noon that his grooming services were complete. When I arrived to pick him up, the staff said "let me get your baby". They totally understand this is not just your pet but your family member. Charlie was excited to see me however more excited about the treat jar. Charlie did not show signs of anxiety. Once in the car, his male parts showed excitement. MMMMMMM, seemed to be a great experience for him! As a pup, had taken him to a groomer and picked him as he was sitting in a crate with a large industrial fan in front of him, he ran to me like "get me out of here". This experience at Long's Animal Hospital grooming facility gave me faith again and Long's grooming service will be the only place to groom Charlie in the future!

This past week I brought in Oliver, a cat I recently rescued from a shelter who had the very deadly virus panleukopenia. Oliver stayed in Long's ICU for two days. Dr. Brad Brown spoke with me at length upon Oliver's arrival, every morning during his stay, upon Oliver's discharge, and even called the next day to see how he was doing. Also, other staff members took their time to give me updates the several times I visited and called during his stay. I couldn't be more happy with the kindness, warmth, and care that was shown to both me and Oliver. No emergency vet is cheap, but I found Long's prices to be very reasonable. The cost was half of what my mom had paid for her chihuahua's two day stay at another emergency hospital. Dr. Brown did a great job only providing necessary services in order to keep my bill as low as possible. Dr. Brown and his staff truly saved Oliver's life, and I highly recommend them!

I absolutely LOVE this animal hospital. I could never say enough great things about them. And just to give you some context, I am not the Positive Patty type. I pretty much hate human interaction of any kind. But I thoroughly enjoy literally every human that works in that office. I have never had a bad experience. I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone. They are the bomb diggity, dude.

Cindy Riddagh

I just moved into the Charlotte area from Waxhaw. Long Animal Hospital was fantastic. They were courteous and friendly. Our vet was Dr Yasin who was not only thorough but explained all the necessary procedures my toy poodle needed as well as those that were recommended but not needed. I also took my tabby cat who has not always been a good patient. Bobby behaved the best I have ever seen. He was calm and not agitated. I was so happy with the professionalism and friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend them.

Elizabeth McGinnis

I love everyone there! Took our Doberman puppy there for ear cropping all has gone so smoothly so far. Everyone there really loves animals.

Fantastic veterinarians! I had an appointment on October 31,2018 for my 10 year old male Siamese cat with Dr. Samantha Fulton to have an abdominal ultrasound done. The veterinarian assistant Kathryn and Dr. Fulton were extremely comforting and knowledgeable about my concerns for my kitty. Dr. Fulton answered all my questions and went over everything with me in great detail. The relief I felt was overwhelming. I can’t thank them enough for their expert care and professionalism. My cat thanks you too! He’s acting like a crazy kitten again.

I don’t usually write reviews about locations, but this Animal Hospital makes me feel welcome. It’s a large office, but they make it incredibly patient oriented. They know the names of my cats. They take time to explain issues, and provide help when needed. I truly appreciate this after moving from a small town.

Alison McNerney

So pleased with Long Animal Hospital!!! Warm, caring, knowledgeable and considerate the doctors of Long are approachable always taking time to discuss concerns regarding your furry friends. Recently my small dog suffered a significant injury; Dr. McGarity's calm, gentle manner put me at ease. Dr. McGarity stitched her up, sent her home with detailed instructions needed to care for her wound. My wounded little girl and I left with the magical phrase, "Call if you need anything" blanketing me with comfort. Kind of says it all to me....

Please, Do NOT bring your pets here, or at lease not after normal business hours for an emergency. The staff that worked with my American Bulldog were: rude, demeaning, and heartless. It seemed all they cared about was collecting whatever money they could from us. They didn’t weigh my baby, ask for her breed and kept referring to her as it.. I had xrays done for my pup and it took me asking the vet twice before she would show them to me.. my pup needed surgery after swallowing a sock and when they told me the price (outrageous) and that they didn’t do payment plans, I burst into tears. I asked if there was anything else I could do (I’d sweep the floors forever if it meant my girl getting better) they told me to SURRENDERED MY PUP; I was dumbfounded. They then, AFTER telling me to give my dog away, told me to try my primary vet in the morning to see if they could “work something out”. They gave my pup meds to get her through the night and my boyfriend asked what it would help with (pain, bacteria, fever-we didn’t know) the vet responded in the most sarcastic tone “well yeah, that’s why I gave it to her”.... how were we supposed to know? We were terrified pet parents not veterinarians! From start to finish the visit was a nightmare. Thank GOD we found a place, The Pet Hospital, that cared for us AND our baby.. please if you’re reading this, go there and not here. It’s 30mins away from Charlotte but they care about animals and not just money.

SCAM ARTIST If you want to find out what is not wrong with your pet bring them here to be overcharged and not evaluated. I brought my frenchie here because I noticed blood coming out of her vaginal and I am trying to breed her. The doctor runs test and tells me she is not in heat whatsoever and has an infection and needs to be put on antibiotics. He said that her blood was to dark to be heat blood and the first thing that comes up on akc website is that the blood will start dark and get lighter closer to ovulation. I take her to my vet 2 days later where I am from and they confirm there is no infection and she is in heat. They scammed me out of over $140 for unnecessary test and giving me false information. On top of all this the facility smells like dog sht and is disgusting. Maybe you should take some of the money you squeeze out of people and properly maintain the place.

I want to thank Dr. Killough and his amazing team for the wonderful services and treatment. Dr. Killough was so awesome to my husband and I while treating our sweet kitty Michelle. Although, it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge; the care and compassion shown is so greatly appreciated. Unlike, many other veterinarian practices Dr. Killough was very knowledgeable and skilled. He quickly diagnosed our kitty Michelle and was very straightforward throughout the entire process. I wish we would’ve visited Long Animal Hospital sooner!

We made the switch here after a very negative vet experience with another place. We loved the vets here and the facility is clean and wait times were impressive. Can't wait to return. Definitely one of the best vets we've ever gone to for our dog.

Very rude will never bring my baby back here.

Extraordinarily perfect! We had an emergency with our small dog, and they were very helpful over the phone arranging for us to come in same-day, giving us pricing information and filling out the new patient sheet over the phone. It is a very affordable place. They charged us, in-all, to be seen, x-rays, services, and some vaccines the price it would cost to just get the x-rays at other veterinary hospitals we checked (Total Bond Veterinary Hospital on Mt. Holly Road and Banfield Pet Hospital on Perimeter Pkwy). Being seen in the room, you're given a detailed list of pricing for all services performed before they are conducted, so you can make informed decisions. They also accept Care Credit, which is great and take pet insurance (Embrace). You get there, there is a separate entrance for dogs and cats, designated pay areas and plentiful patient rooms you're escorted to. Reception is pleasant, technicians are friendly and doctors are very kind. In the waiting area, technicians come out with healthy treats and they also send you home with special food if your dog is sick, dehydrated, bloated...

I've been nothing but happy with the service I received here. We had one emergency visit and one regular office visit. In both cases, the doctor was extremely thoughtful and made sure that my dog was comfortable and also made sure that I knew everything that was happening as well as my options moving forward. Great place.

I've been so impressed by all aspects of Long. I've been in for routine checkups and tumor removals. Their prices are amazing, they are very effecient, always being able to see us with short notice, but best of all, their follow-up protocol is awesome. I'm so glad I made the switch!

Traumatized my nephew . Nicked! Razor burns, missed spots, sedated him and then apparently bruised the tendons/ligaments in his tail the way they turned or carried him . I moved my babies from here a few years ago and should have pressed her harder not to bring him here.

I switched over to Long Animal Hospital after moving from a different side of town in Charlotte, and taking my dogs to a Banfield that was convenient to that side of town. I assumed that, in switching over to a more privatized company, my pet care costs would increase alongside the quality of the pet care--I rationalized that I would pay higher costs if it meant better care. However, to my extreme delight, my pet care costs actually decreased overall (better diagnoses, fewer visits as a result of better care, better treatment, etc.) while the pet care quality increased! I have been referring several friends and family to Long Animal Hospital as a result of my wonderful experiences EVERY SINGLE VISIT! Despite the fact that I have moved over 100 miles away from Charlotte, I continue to bring my pups to Long Animal Hospital because every experience from beginning to end has been incredible! :)

Dr Killough and all of the staff were absolutely wonderful when I brought my pet in on Sunday afternoon. Caring, kind, friendly staff who were as happy as I was that my little dog was rescued after being lost 2 days. Even though I live in Gaston County I highly recommend this veterinary office in you are in need of an emergency vet.

Rachel Herman

We've taken all 3 of our dogs here and every experience we have had here has been great! The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Eric Stenstrom

Their website is a mess, you really can't do much, sometimes you click and nothing happens, the same page just reloads. You can't make an appointment for a specific vet. And the pet records aren't even maintained by Long, they have farmed it out to a third party who doesn't always send alerts when a pet is due for annual shots or a visit. Otherwise, the pet care itself is good.

Everyone was wonderful. Every staff member was attentive, extremely professional and had a clear love of animals. They took care of my cat with a lot of love.

Thanks to all the staff at Long animal hospital for the graciousness they provided to myself and my dog mason in his last hours. I'm not even a client but they have the understanding it takes to help with a difficult process. Thanks again, Dale.

We had a hematoma to deal with because our Lab has a fungus, and is flapping her ears violently. We had surgery at Long Animal Hospital. The Vet was very nice, and the surgery was completed same day. Unfortunately, the fungus is not treated well, and she is still flapping her ear flaps. The hematoma has erupted again. I am disappointed that the Vets cannot deal with the root problem and figure our a real treatment for the fungus.

I've been going here for quite some time....at the old location and the new one. It is the pet owner's responsibility to make sure your pet is taken care of. I've never had a problem and always see Dr. Wittman because he knows my dog and his condition well. 1. Pick a vet and stay with that vet for the life of your pet. 2. Try Carolina Vet Specialists, and you'll find out that Long Animal Hospital isn't so bad after all. (in price or service) 3. Vet visits are no longer cheap anywhere. But isn't the health of your pet worth it? If they aren't valued family members, then maybe you should do some soul searching if you really want a pet or not. 4. Long Animal Hospital, as far as I know, is a not a non-profit organization. They are in business to show a profit. They have invested millions into their employees and new facility. Overhead is high in most service based businesses. It is truly the cleanest, most advanced vet clinic in Charlotte. Having a pet carries a lot of responsibility. It's your responsibility to manage it's health and well being.

I’ve seen several of the vets and they’re all fantastic. Perfect mix of being caring about my pups and providing lots of info to me. Staff is warm, friendly and informative. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place. I could not of asked for a better place to bring my sweet baby girl in her final days of her life. The staff was so nice to us and made us feel we did the best we could do for our dog. Even for it happening on Christmas the staff was very caring. I can't praise this place enough.

Poncho

We had an 11-year-old Chihuahua Pomeranian mix named Poncho that was very healthy before I took him to the Veterinarian in Michigan to get his Rabies Vaccination. That was in February of 2017. From that point on his health started to decline. We took him back to the Imlay City Vet because he was not eating and was acting Lethargic. The doctor said he had Pancreatitis caused by the food he was eating. She would not admit that the Rabies vaccine could have something to do with his condition. She told us that he needed to be on fluids and that we could leave him there but no one would be there to watch him at night. We did not think he should be alone so, that evening we took him to the Wilson Vet Hospital in Romeo. They did blood work on him and said that he was in complete kidney failure NOT Pancreatitis. Doctor Wilson told us we should just “put him down” (So Cold Hearted) because we would need to give him fluids at home and we would not be able to do it because he was too mean. If the Doctor saying that did not wrench our hearts enough, while he was in there one of the interns fractured Poncho’s jaw trying to give him oral medicine. No one at the Wilson Veterinary Hospital apologized or claimed responsibility for what happened to his jaw. They did do x-rays on his jaw free but Geez that is the least they could do. They charged us for the rest of it, though, around $700.00. We had to give him fluids through a syringe every day for the rest of his life to keep him hydrated and to keep his kidneys from working as good as they could. There is a test that the Veterinarians do not to tell you about, it is a called Titer (Tighter) test. It measures your pet’s immune system level. A rabies shot is a booster shot that boosts your pet’s immune system. Every 3 years your pet is supposed to get this shot but sometimes this shot is in their system for 7 to 10 years. Therefore, your pet should not need a shot. Unless the Titer (Tighter) test is done, you never know what their immune system level is and unless you know that, the Vet will give them a booster weather they need it or not. I never knew about the Titer test. The Vets never told me about it and I think if Poncho would have had it, it would have saved his life. The shot he got was directly responsible for his death. I blame the Veterinarian’s for not giving us the option to get this Titer (Tighter) test. He was too small of an animal to have all those vaccinations in him. Poncho was like a baby to us and our hearts are broken because he is gone. We lost him August 14, 2017. A part of us is gone forever. Please, if you love your pets, do not believe that you have to give your pets these vaccinations every year or 3 years. Have the Vets give them a Titer (Tighter) test to see if they need them. Go on the Internet, look it up, and be informed. It has been almost 3 months this we lost Poncho and the pain and hurt is still here. I confronted the Imlay City Vet about the Titer test and they told me “The State doesn’t recognize the Titer Test”. OMG, they are more concerned about what the State of Michigan thinks than the health of our pets. The only thing they told me after asking about the Titer Test and how the Rabies booster destroyed his kidneys was, “He had weak kidneys”, unbelievable. No compassion, No responsibility for what happened to him. My wife has just learned of two more pet owners that lost their pet or had them harmed because of this Vet. One said the vet killed their pet but WE don’t know why yet and the other said that they took their dog in because it had a haze over its eyes. The Vet refused to see the dog and by the time they got him into another vet, he was blind. We do not need Vets like this taking care of our pets.

We got our dog groomed at Long. She feels so soft and smells so good and this is weeks later! I am so happy with them. Long is also her vet. They always do such a great job with her. They obviously love the animals they care for and I am grateful for them. You can trust in them to take care of your pets!!

Christine Aheron

Just spent $600, $272 of which I don’t need. Dr sent me home with Trifexis and Bravecto. When I got home I realized they do the same thing! They wouldn’t let me return. VERY UPSET. They should have explained difference and pricing. Looks like they are getting kickbacks from the companies for sales, instead of doing right by customers. If you go here, be ready to open your wallet.

We will never go back to Long Animal Hospital. We had been having sporadic issues with our dog having accidents in the house that had worsened over the weekend. With it being a Sunday, and most offices being closed on Monday for Labor Day, we called Long Animal Hospital during after hours. I explained the situation and that we thought our dog may have a UTI. The lady on the phone recommended to get him seen ASAP and to "not wait" if it could be a UTI. We decided to take our dog in to be seen. I have NEVER in my life experienced such an insensitive and rude vet. I left almost in tears. When the vet came in the room she stood right next to the door while our dog whined and barked to be touched/greeted. She absolutely ignored his presence. We explained what had been going with sporadic accidents - that had worsened - and she told us we should just separate our dogs to see which was having accidents (we had our suspicions it was our male dog, but not 100% certain.) I explained I wanted to make sure our dog was okay and she said, "Well, it's been going on for weeks." I told her we were there because we cared about our dogs and the front desk TOLD US to come in and "not wait". She said for her to give our dog an exam it'd be $100 and she was "just trying to make the most of our dollars." The entire time I felt like she was shamming us for coming in to be seen and caring about our dog's health. Her bedside manner and lack of compassion were disgusting.
