You have the opinions of real people who purchased the products and services of Charlotte Street Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) in North Carolina area.
As of day the firm gets a score of 4.5 over 5 and this score has been calculated on 135 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is virtually the best one, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is very accurate. If many people have bothered to give their score when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to give evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian corresponds to the category of Animal hospital.
The front desk staff was very helpful, not only to their customers, but also to each other. One staff member was about to leave for the day until she noticed there were people waiting to be helped, so she sat down and went to work. I was only there to have a prescription filled, but I have co-workers who highly recommend Charlotte Street for their customer service, and I can see why.
Great Vet! The staff is very friendly and caring. It is easy to get an appointment, they have convenient hours and are reasonably priced. I can't say enough nice things about Charlotte Street Animal Hospital!!
The entire staff that day was awesome, but doctor Peters is absolutely amazing with Bella, I'm so grateful to have her as Bellas vet!
I have taken my dogs to charlotte street for the last few years. My female Airedale developed Cushing's disease, lost most of her hair, callus moles all over her body, lethargic. I googled Cushing's because a vet tech friend from Virginia who came to visit suggested it might possibly be Cushing's. My dog had 14 of 21 symptoms suggested on google. When I talked to the doctors they told me it was not Cushing's that the blood tests so far didn't show that diagnosis. They only wanted to do more and more expensive tests. I went to Swannanoa valley animal hospital for a 2nd opinion. When Dr. Sharp walked into the room he immediately said out loud that Ruby had Cushing's disease. After a couple of inexpensive tests($150.00 including the visit) she tested positive for Cushing's. I was told by the doctors at Charlotte street that the test were difficult and inconclusive, by the way the test consisted of collecting urine and leaving my dog at the vets office for 8 hours for blood draws ever 2 hours to check levels of cortisol(not difficult). The worst part is my guilt from my dog feeling so bad for so long, all the while not getting a 2nd opinion, and watching her getting worse and being told by Charlotte street that we needed to do more tests, skin biopsies, ultra sound, and more blood tests. Once Dr. Sharp started her on the correct medication within a couple of weeks she was feeling better, and in a couple of months her hair was coming back. She is back to her happy, loving, beautiful healthy self after @ 6 months on the medication. Charlotte Street You should listen to your patients concerns and stop going after the dollar. I know you have a beautiful building and hoards of employees to pay for, but the patients need to be your priority. Not a good experience and definitely would not recommend charlotte street after my experience!
We LOVE Dr. Henry!! She has taken the best care of our animals and always comes into the room with a smile on her face. She is knowledgeable, genuine, and kind and we recommend her to anyone that will listen! Thanks Dr. Henry and all the staff at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital for being so good at what you do and for always making us feel like family.
Worked in quickly, heard our concerns and also offered clear advice
I recently took my guide dog on a cruise to the Bahamas. CSAH has someone specifically assigned to help their clients do this with their animals. Meg May did an excellent job in helping get all of the paperwork lined up for this adventure. She always responded to my emails quickly in a professional, but always friendly manner. Dr. Amber signed all of the needed documents during the exam needed for the cruise, but also asked if I had any additional concerns about taking my guide dog on a cruise. This sparked a conversation over possible stress, and led to some preventative medication, as well as something if my dog started experiencing stress or motion sickness. A salute to all of the staff at CSAH for all they do in a timely, professional, and friendly manner.
Great experience even from before we walked through the doors. The vet techs were very helpful over the phone. Dr. Peters took her time with us. Had a roller coaster ride of an experience with the emergency vet and different vets were recommending different things. Dr. Peters took into account our needs as my pet does not do well with being pulled around with repeated vet visits and did not push any endless diagnostics on us. They didn't drag my pet to the back to weigh him or check his temperature or whatever else(hate that). He was with me at all times and the vet visit went surprisingly well. He's sleeping it off now. We left with clear instructions and peace of mind. While Dr. Peters was great and met the needs of my pet, an emergency visit led Dr. Amber to carry on as our vet. While compassionate, she was too controlling over the prognosis of my pet which was extremely frustrating. When asked for a new Rx of oxygen, she responded with a prescription for 1 tank (5-10 hours worth) and was not in clinic the rest of the week, responding that if we needed more I should bring him in even though she knew and noted it would be fatal to bring him in. This hands on approach is probably valued by some, but I think it's of greater value to be adaptable to what your patients needs and abilities are. I don't blame her for my pets death, but I didn't care for her practice at the end of his life - especially after having a vet that better met our needs and was willling to let go of her reigns a little bit when that was what best suited her patient.
Everyone here was very pleasant and welcoming. Dr. Faherty was wonderful and helped my dog tremendously!
Dr. Henry is the best vet I have ever had. I could not ask for a more compassionate and helpful doctor to care for my pets. I trust her with all my babies.
I brought my Egyptian Mau in for a respiratory problem. I got a thorough exam, and great practical advice on both this and an arthritis problem!
This place doesn't want your business. The secretary hung up on us multiple times when we were attempting to get an estimate for services we needed. It was pretty obvious by the third call that she just didn't care to speak with us.
We love this place. We have been taking our pets, both cats and dogs to Charlotte street for over 8 years and wouldn't consider anyone else to care for our furry crew! They have taken care of a broken leg, cuts and scrapes and all the exciting things/hiccups that come along with kittens and puppies and now aging dogs and cats. Dr. Amber is amazing and loves our animals like her own and we trust her every step of the way. We have seen all of the vets at one time or another and they are all amazing and from the front desk crew to the vet techs, it's always a great experience. We feel comfortable knowing they have the latest equipment and tests and knowledge to keep our pack moving for years to come.
Awesome staff. Very knowledgable doctors. Love these guys and gals.
We had a lot of difficulties transferring our dogs papers from our previous vet. The ENTIRE TEAM, but ESPECIALLY MEG, went above and beyond for us. Very understanding, very dedicated, and outstanding communication the entire time. When we arrived for our first appointment, Dr. Cowan sat on the floor with our old girl the whole time, cooing and calming her during the exam. Facility was clean and modern. Top notch all around!
I met with Dr. Danielle Kaplan this time. I have been taking my Cat Ashby there for over a year. Dr. Kaplan was the BEST. Learned so much from her that I didn't know from previous vets, both here & at other vet hospital over the 9 years I've had Ashby. Will definitely make sure I see Dr. Kaplan next time. All of the Docs have been very good at Charlotte Street, but think I found my "forever Vet".
I was out of town and I received the dreaded phone call that my dog was being taken to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital for treatment. She had gotten into a bag of trail mix with chocolate and raisins, both highly toxic to dogs. Untreated, kidney failure is common with a quick death. All the staff at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital were beyond professional and caring. Phone calls, detailed explanations and advice of what to expect were offered and delivered as promised. The veterinary care was textbook perfect. They set up a private room for me to visit with the dog while she was confined there for 48 hours and when the danger had passed, I was allowed to take her home. Charlotte Street Animal Hospital saved her life...and mine to boot. Thanks to you all for such terrific care, physically and emotionally. Mignon
We have 4 dogs and we have been to many veterinary clinics. Charlotte Street animal clinic is by far the best. All of their doctors are phenomenal. The staff Is always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this clinic.
Always taking time to explain. Dr.Knepshield is AOK
The doctor and staff were caring, friendly and very knowledgeable. I felt that my pet was truly cared for.
You guys are always great and have helped me in really difficult times with a lot of compassion saying goodbye to my two most beloved pets. I continue to be grateful for your kindness and support in helping me establish a payment plan over the phone now that I am out of state. I have, and continue to recommend you to pet owner friends in Asheville!
Mary Peters is a sharp vet. It's important that the clinician caring for my dogs wins my trust.
We recently had to choose to let our older cat, Grendel, go. We live almost an hour away from CSAH now, but this is where we wanted to be, and it was the best experience we could possibly have, thanks to Dr. Amber and the terrific staff. We also bring our young, fragile mini Aussie, Ivy, there for all her needs and she still loves coming there even though she knows she is going to get poked and prodded. Five stars are not enough.
My rabbit was sick and I needed to get him in somewhere quick. They were the only place in the whole surrounding area (I called 8 different hospitals) that was willing to squeeze him into the schedule that day. The staff was so friendly and it saved his little life! Very thankful.
Everyone is always so friendly. When I bring Nomad (my cat) here, I know he will be well cared for. The staff have never made me feel ashamed or stupid for asking questions or expressing concerns. I won't take Nomad anywhere else. I've been bringing Nomad here for at least three years now and I have never had a bad experience.
Both the vet and the staff were all wonderful! We appreciate that they were able to get our pup in so quickly, and that they even got the records from her previous vet in time for a same-day appointment! I was also touched to see a sweet note the vet wrote, that started with a compliment about our Juneau's nice temperament!
We've been going to CSAH for 15+ years and have never been disappointed or underserved! The front Staff is awesome and always working to keep things running smoothly. We primarily see Dr. Knepshield and I can't say enough about her. Knowledgeable and compassionate, she has helped keep our pets healthy and happy through the good times and she has been over the top to help with the not so good. I've had occasion to see a few of the other vets and techs as well and have only praise for everyone.
Only place I bring my rabbit to where I know he’ll be looked after properly. Friendly and attentive staff.
We have just moved from Wilmington to Asheville. Along the way our two young Chesapeakes picked up giardia. Dr. Henry and her staff fit us in immediately, of course, on a Friday evening. They were professional, helpful, and made follow up calls to see how they were progressing. Our Chesapeakes are now free of giardia and back to themselves. We will definitely be remaining with Charlotte Street Vets.
They’ve been a wonderful vet for our cats, and very accommodating to us as well. I’d recommend them for anyone with a fury family member!
I love CSAH! I have one favorite veterinarian that I like to see but when she is not there the others are wonderful too! Everyone is very welcoming and perfect with my pets.
Would give zero stars if I could. This vet is for the rich and they don't actually care about animals in my opinion, just about getting as much cash out of you as they can. Impossible to get the vet on the phone, overcharge on everything and upsell tests you don't need(but they make you think you do). Extremely disappointed in this place. Used them for a year worst decision ever! So glad to be with Pet Vet on patton the difference in the way my dog and I was treated brought me to tears because I finally felt like they actually care about the health of my animals and not the size of my wallet.
It was our first visit, as we are new to the area. They were so great with our cat, Axel. Dr Amber took plenty of time to get to know him, and to review our records transfer from OH. Axel really did well and remained quite calm during his visit. It was such a great experience for all of us. Thank you so much.
Very pleased with the veterinary care at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. Additionally, my chocolate lab has been going to PT and the staff at that secondary location are very attentive, provide good loving care. I would recommend this group.
Dr Henry is always helpful and attentive. Our dogs love her! She’s been with our dogs through multiple surgeries, dental cleanings, and yearly check ups, and she always provides the best care and gives us sound guidance. We appreciate her and the entire staff at CSAH, and we thank them for everything the do.
First off, I'd like to say that the Vets at this establishment are great! The vet that saw my cats, was gentle and a sweetheart! Which is why I didn't give this place a one star rating. The front desk staff on the other hand, need further customer service and basic diversity/human rights training. After both of my cats appointment, I was told to wait because their discharge file wasn't available yet. So I sat down in the cat lobby area, expecting to be called to the front desk to check out once my file was available. Instead, I ended up waiting for 10-15 min in the waiting room. After waiting for some time, I decided to go to the front counter for an update and to check out. The exasperated staff member (Gina) exclaimed nonchalantly that my file was now available and that she could check me out. It felt like she didn't want to help me and was dismissive of the fact that I had been waiting for awhile. Even though, I initially mentioned this to her. While she was getting my paperwork together and assisting me, she starts having a conversation from her seat with an older white gentleman that had just appeared in the lobby. She was basically talking right over me, like I was in the way and not even present. I couldn't believe this was happening to me and started to become noticeable upset. I guess she felt the need at that moment to relay a message she could have relayed at a later time. She discussed obtaining records about his dog's flea medication from the other vet. The appropriate time to discuss this with him would have been during his checkout. Even though it is 2018, it's pretty apparent prejudice and discrimination are still prevalent in our society. Her behavior is a prime example and her entire attitude towards me was very dismissive and rude. This person is representing the animal hospital, the face of the company. While I was still attempting to check out and attempting to inquire about cat medication, she decides to get up out of her seat, (while I was still standing there talking to her) and walks over to the older white gentleman in the waiting room to continue the "urgent" conversation. All of a sudden, she starts profusely apologizing to him for the wait. What wait time?! Mind you, he never approached her or asked her anything and he had only been waiting in the waiting room with his dog for less than 3 mins. When she came back to the front desk to continue assisting me, she was still conversing with him, while I am was trying to ask her questions and close out my bill. I was insulted by her behavior towards me as a paying customer, as a human being, and especially as a black woman. I told her that she could stop helping me to assist him if his matter was more pressing. She kept telling me no that's ok, while still talking to him. I asked her why wasn't I entitled to the same apologetic behavior she displayed towards the white gentleman. She seemed flustered that I even had the nerve to ask her this question. There were other people in the lobby that witnessed her behavior and noticed how she treated me. She rudely asked for my credit card info and then handed me my bill. Then a min later she offered a very unapologetic apology for my wait time. If you are a POC (person of color), I'd advise you support another establishment/clinic that treats people fairly and doesn't discriminate based on the color of your skin. I spoke to the manager about my unpleasant and insulting incident. I truly hope this encourages an open dialogue/forum on diversity and how staff should treat everyone with compassion and respect. I have never felt more disrespected and diminished as a human being by this person based on the color of my skin, thus I will not be going back here or recommend this clinic to others, especially people of color. I truly hope Google or the animal hospital doesn't censor my review for exposing racism and discrimination at this clinic. I have a voice! I will not tolerate being treated this way or have any other person endure this type of hostile behavior from a staff member.
We have taken our dogs to CSAH since they first opened. Every time we visit we are impressed by the concern and competence shown by the entire staff. Dr. Knepshield is always genuinely interested in the well-being of our pet and shows infinite patience with our questions. It's a great place to take your pet.
We bring our baby's here (cats) because they are the best VMDs and the service is top of the line. Highly recommend!!
Three dogs now... Charlotte street is always responsive, very professional, and not only listens to us, but our dogs. Haters gonna hate. Consider how you interact before casting stones.
I've gone to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital a few times now and every time the staff is amazing. They're so friendly and helpful. Initially when I went to make a last minute appointment for my cat when she developed what turned out to be a UTI, I called another vet that was closer to me since I don't drive. They were kinda rude and didn't seem to want to help me at all. But the second I was connected with someone at CSAH they really seemed to care. Not sure why I even tried to go anywhere else. I will always chose them from now on.
Thanks for helping me and leo out in our time of need. Yall were awesome, im very grateful for the assistance my dog and i received
My wife and I have been taking our 10-year-old Golden Retriever to the Charlotte Street Animal Hospital since we moved to Asheville, 1 year ago. The doctors are very thorough and compassionate. They obviously love what they do. We are completely satisfied with the quality of the care that our beloved Cali is receiving. The rest of the staff are very friendly and very professional. We wholeheartedly recommend Charlotte Street Animal Hospital!
Charlotte Street Animal Hospital has been one of the best Animal Hospitals. Throughout the years, Charlotte Street has been the primary Veterinarian for two dogs and one cat. As a traveler, I have been able to call Charlotte Street for advice and recommendations, have prescriptions called in, and quick responses to crazy incidents (porcupine quills in the muzzle to consuming rat posion). Charlotte Street has always been there for me and my four legged family. Thanks.
Weird experience here. Dr. Henry was very condescending, rude, and difficult to communicate with. She seemed completely unfamiliar with laws regarding service animals. My dog, who loves just about everybody and is accustomed to regular check ups, was terrified of her. She did not seem to believe me when I indicated that my dog was behaving in a way that was abnormal for her. Very, very weird experience. Also their scale seemed to barely work. I have no idea why this visit went so poorly, but it was awful and I certainly won’t be going back.
Dr. Henry is awesome! She is the reason we came back with our new puppy. She truly loves the animals and we appreciate how she cares for our pets when we come in.
Dr. Peters is the best vet that I have ever had for my dog Bella. She is the only vet that Bella actually gets excited to see and makes every experience a positive one. I couldn't imagine using any other vet. I only hope that everyone could have such a positive experience with the vet they use for their pets. Thank you Charlotte Street Animal Hospital and Dr. Peters for taking such good care of my best friend
The chiropractic adjustments from Dr. Faherty are very helpful to my ten year old Swiss Mountain dog with arthritis in his leg joints. I truly value his services. The staff are always very nice, fast and efficient.
By far worst vet I've ever experienced. They cancel appointments 1 hr before once u are already on your way. They completely messed up my dogs surgery and did nothing to make it right. Avoid them!!! Total neglect in emergencies to the point of not getting back to us within 48 hours. Also found out he has 3 complaints against him from the vet board, including negligence where at least 2 dogs have died in his care. Wish I had known.
We found Charlotte Street Animal Hospital because they are one of the very few places that have cat boarding. When our cat Smokey decided to adopt us, we began searching for a place to board her when necessary. As a result, we also began seeing Dr. Amber as Smokey's vet and are very glad we found CSAH . The staff is always super friendly on the phone and in person. They go above and beyond to accommodate the needs of their clients as far as scheduling appointments and they are very attentive to the pets as well as their owners. They respond quickly to concerns from us when we leave Smokey in their care, which we very much appreciate. Thanks CSAH!
The ONLY place I trust to take my best friend! The hospital is clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and all of the doctors are outstanding!
Dr. Amber Dr. Amber Dr. Amber! She and everyone there, love animals so much. I appreciate how they keep the focus on the pets. They do a great job of explaining things, in a way I can understand. Im comforted, knowing that my dog (Apple) is receiving the best care in town. Thank you CSAH! -Debon
These kind folks offer a free examination to any creature adopted from the Asheville Humane Society - so kudos alone for that. In addition the whole experience - doctors, staff, environment, professionalism is just all good energy.
Everyone I've interacted with has been awesome! Thank you so much for making Solomon, Sheba & me feel so special.
I’ve had wonderful experiences with CSAH. Dr.Knepshield is excellent. She is willing to research problems if necessary, and she’s been a great doctor to all my animals. There are a lot of new people in reception, but so far, it’s gone mostly well. Recommended!
Had a brilliant first visit after just moving to Asheville. Thorough and caring is the best way to describe the experience. Office staff is lovely and patient, and it's obvious they love animals. Then we had an emergency visit at the end of the day after I arrived home to find one of my boys very sick. The clinic was flexible with allowing me to come in right away at end of hours and Dr. Kaplan took the time to run tests, give us options and even call well after hours to give us an update and first thing in the morning to give us an overnight update. I always feel like Dr. Kaplan gives us options with consideration of costs and is gentle and caring with my boys. I hIghly recommend Charlotte Street Animal Hospital.
My cat is 17 years old with a thyroid condition. Several times a year he needs to go to the vet to have blood drawn to check his levels. Additionally he is on a special diet. The front office staff is very friendly and get you checked in and out quickly. The vet and the technicians are on time for the appointment which is helpful with my busy schedule. Additionally they are open from 7a.m. To 9 p.m. to accommodate work schedules. Dr. Henry is great and very thorough. She calls me with lab results and is good about explaining the medical condition and remedy. This is a top notch facility and I strongly recommend them,,
Our dog cut his leg and our regular vet was no longer open. The Charlotte St gang graciously found time for us that same evening. They did a wonderful job caring for Butler on short notice and through the after care. We are very grateful!
Dr. Amber is so kind and gentle with our elderly cat. We really appreciate her knowledge and special care she shares, and highly recommend her and the business as a whole.
Dr. Amber at CSAH is the most amazing, loving, gracious and conscientious vet I have ever had! She loves my Cory Piper just as much as her own kitties. Cory Piper is now 15, was born FIV+ and now has hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. Dr. Amber goes out of her way to make CP comfortable and to make her vet trips the least stressful as possible. I could go on and on. I did work at CSAH for a short period and would also recommend Dr. Henry and the Vet Tech extraordinaire JBR! I love all the people there and am so happy to have a place that I know CP will be taken care of in the most loving environment possible.
Everyone is so friendly and eager to help. The vets are great, especially Jaci Amber. She's the most-caring person I've ever met (and I know a lot of people).
Always always so kind and caring. Dr. Henry sees my guinea pigs and is by far the best vet I’ve ever had ❤️ Thank you all so much
I love Charlotte Street AH! I typically see Dr. Amber or Dr. Henry, although I have never had a bad experience with any of the other doctors. Recently I have been to see Dr. Henry as my cat has been sick. Dr. Henry was so very sweet with Claire, and also took the time with me to determine why she has been so stressed lately. Dr. Henry was just as patient with me as she was with Claire, and now Claire is on her way to feeling better. This is a very caring animal hospital, for pets as well as their owners!
Dr. Henry and her staff at Charlotte Street have been an absolute God Send! The reception staff is so friendly and willing to help you out. Dr. Henry has been so caring and so much help with our 2 dogss
Everyone is always wonderful to us! Very friendly staff. Mr Robert the dog doesn't enjoy the vet very much but they always do their best to keep him comfortable!
I am so thankful for Charlotte Street Animal Hospital-- the most amazing, caring team of people you can find anywhere. Great energy, high quality medicine-- my beloved furry family members and I enjoy happier lives because of this group!
We LOVE Dr. Faherty. He is the animal chiropractor there. He was great with our poodle and went over everything in detail with us. He came highly recommended.
This was the 3rd vet clinic that I've taken my cats to and it was an amazing experience. The entire staff was so friendly and the vet was so accommodating. It was very affordable and I never felt like I was getting hustled into tests that weren't actually needed. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a new vet.
Very unsatisfied with their services...definitely would not recommend to anyone that's looking for a exotic/reptile veterinarian. I took my snake to them bc she had a bad respiratory infection, I was 100% sure of it but I needed a antibiotic for her. I dropped her off, paid for all the test/procedures they recommended & when I picked her up they told me they would call me in a week with the results so that THEN she can start the antibiotics...that was & week ago, iv still not heard from them about the test results & my snake unfortunately died Monday. So thanks for absolutely nothing..
I have been very pleased with the care my Goffin's cockatoo has received. Dr. Rhyne and the staff at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital are fantastic - please don't ever change :)
I brought our kitten here for her first visit to the doctor after adoption. The front desk staff, I think Carrie or Sarah? (She has only been there a week) , was exceptional. Very friendly and responsive. I was nervous before the appointment re: expense because of the location but costs were fair and there were no surprises. Dr. Kaplan was great with my cat and explained things to me clearly. I didn’t have a lot of interaction with the techs but they were also friendly and gentle. A pleasant experience all around.
I’ve been taking my cat there for 7 years and have a great feeling of trust that he is getting the best care. Everything is explained so that I can make informed decisions. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the place is so clean! Even when your visit is for a routine checkup you want to feel that your ‘baby’ is getting the doctor’s full attention and I do feel that way about CSAH.
Both my dog and I had a traumatic experience at CSAH thanks to Dr. Henry. My 4 year old pooch is a large breed and a rescue who we believe was abused before we adopted him. He is as friendly as can be and loves people but, like most dogs, is petrified of the vet. I had to drop him off for an exam and before even pulling out of their parking lot I got a call from the vet saying he's growling and lunging when they try to muzzle him. He hadn't been in the exam room for a minute and instead of trying to calm him, they immediately ambush him with a muzzle. No wonder he was growling, I would be too if I got ambushed by multiple strangers without reassurance. The muzzle made him even more anxious which was clear and then a group of 5 staff members tried to restrain him by chasing him and trying to put a towel around his neck (anxious and abused dog = more defensiveness). The doctor was aware he had been abused, mind you. It was a mess and very upsetting for me to have to stand there and watch as my dog is being tackled to the ground. The doctor should have stopped as soon as she saw an issue and prescribed some sedatives for another day and another attempt but instead, she traumatized my dog, myself, and told me he needed behavioral therapy instead of coming up with a plan B. If you have a dog who is afraid, don't take them here. You'll just get told to take your dog to therapy instead of having a veterinarian who considers the comfort and mental state of your pet.
I highly recommend CSAH! I wouldn't trust my fuzzy babies to anyone else. Such a caring and compassionate team. I wish I could give them 6 stars!
Dr. Amber and the staff are so caring with our elderly dog. She's very thorough and takes the time to explain the hows and whys of the treatments she recommends. She'll even call us after the appointment to let us know of test results and treatment recommendations.
Courteous staff, knowledgeable. Very kind and caring people here. They have helped us out of many a jam.
I wouldn't dream of taking my companions anywhere else. Hands down, the most compassionate care in town, not to mention the exceptional Canine Physical Rehabilitation program.
I have been a client of CSAH for years - even before they moved to their current location. My dogs and my family have always been treated with respect and compassion. They have on several occasions gone above and beyond. Dr. Ledyard, Dr. Knepshield, the whole crew- the best.
Once again, and for the final time, Charlotte Street Animal Hospital has charged me double from what they quoted at the start of the visit. Apparently, 2 cotton swabs in the ears automatically doubles your bill. So just to be clear, the exam fee only covers the vet taking temperature, looking into the eyes and the ears, and heartbeat. That's it, nothing else. Then the vet tried to send me home with a $50 bottle of ear drops. I asked the vet if there was a cheaper option and she offered to make a homemade solution for $25. I then asked her if their online pharmacy offered anything else. She hesitated and said "probably not". Turns out they had a $9 bottle that, according to the description, treats the exact symptoms my dog was displaying. Listen, I understand that petcare isn't cheap but it's the principle here. The past two visits have resulted in over 100% increases from what I was originally quoted. They do not make you aware that anything other than temp, heartbeat, eyes & ears costs additional dollars. Last year they sent a postcard showing that my dog was due for 2 shots/vacinations. Upon exam completion, as the vet was leaving, I asked about the shots. The vet proceeds to tell me that it was a system error and the postcard info was incorrect - then they charged me for the check-up! The only reason I scheduled the exam in the first place was to make sure my pet was up to date on her shots. WOW!!! Looking back, I gave them benefit of the doubt witht the postcard, but now, after another gouged visit, I firmly believe that I'm not the only customer that has experienced similar situations. If you have a pet in need of care/maintenance, please consider visiting one of the many other vets in the AVL area. Also, if you've had a similar experience with CCAH, please let others know. Thanks!
Dr. Amber is an amazing cat person! She gets right on the floor with our kitties Willow and Cedar if they're hiding. Cedar had the spa treatment last time to get accurate blood pressure and blood work. His crate was put into a darkened room with pheremone mist. He calmed and his results were excellent. All the staff is so great and caring.
Dr. Mary Peters takes time to research new products and explore all possible treatments so that I can keep my ornery, beloved, senior feline with me as long as possible. She keeps current on new supplements in order to delay medications which are probably inevitable with treatment of kidney disease. She works above and beyond the exam room to keep my cat healthy. I really appreciate her research and her recommendations while allowing me to make the necessary decisions for my pet.
I brought one of my cats in when she had an extreme allergic reaction to something and they were amazing with her. They were flexible with my schedule and were able to get her into their office the same day I called. All the staff is extremely professional and seemed to genuinely care about my cats health. Our cat recovered and the vet answered all my questions. I'm planning on taking all my pets here in the future!
Doctor Mary was so sweet and gentle with our new cat who is a stray. She and Graham explained everything and were patient with our questions. Just as lovely were the people at the front desk. A great first visit!!
Your entire staff is terrific, and has worked with me beautifully to help give my dog the medical attention and care he deserves. I wish you were in Boone so you could be our primary! The first time we came in to see Dr. Ledyard, I was moved by how accepting he was with my dog barking like crazy. For the first time, I felt safe going to a vet hospital and didn't worry about not being able to have top notch care for my dog. This is an amazing feeling. And I would like to thank Leah and Graham for taking great care of Merle and myself this past week, and for easing my mind.
Everyone who works there is amazing. Never had a bad experience or felt judged for not having enough money and asking what prices are upfront. Always willing to help come up with solutions I can afford
I have been going to vets for over 45 years and have never seen the high level of care and compassion shown all three of my dogs, Scout now gone, Coco Bean and Sasha who you just saw for dental surgery and cleaning. And you did this from first staff contact to last. Through your thorough preparation you assuaged our concerns by listening, calling previous vet for history, covering all the bases and educating with past experience and using tests to determine risks and in it all giving us a choices of what do. That's practicing good medicine and rare these days. Two little things and they are little that stand out are Dr. Nepshield getting on the floor with one of my dogs and using an ear thermometer, never have seen that before. Thank you, You do really good work!!
They were soft and thoughtful in their dealings with me the loss of my old friend Tiger Lily.. Previous to that, very attentive, confident and supportive staff. Awesome!
I had switched vets because I had a very sick Boxer & at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital they took the time to request the right tests to start figuring out why my fur baby was always sick. Once we got a diagnosis, they have been amazing with the treatment & any time I have an emergency & need to bring my fur baby in, they see her that same day.
I seldom write reviews of any kind but I was so impressed today with the competence, care and compassion shown to my elderly feline fur baby ( Annie will be 19 in Nov) that I wanted to put it in writing. Dr. Cowan ( a newer vet according to the website) was so gentle with my arthritic girl and her soothing voice & gentle manner put Annie at ease immediately. She made great suggestions of OTC meds I could use to supplement the adequan injections for her arthritic pain. Graham, the vet tech assist was JUST as caring and compassionate ( and knowledgeable) as he lifted her to take her back for an injection. 5 stars to Dr. Cowan, Graham, and Charlotte St. Animal Hospital.
I have been with Charlotte Street for almost 4 years. Always professional and helpful when I had questions. The Vets and Techs get on my dog's level and let him warm up to them before any shots are given. They also give him treats and very patient with him and his anxiety. I highly recommend them.
Very caring team members. They do not push you to make any extra expenses on your pet when you’re in a vulnerable state with your fur baby being sick. They are so willing to tell you pricing without judgement and very reasonably priced especially for the amazing care and veterinary services they provide
Charlotte Street Animal Hospital has always taken great care of my cats and this time was no exception. Drs. Knepshield and Kaplan, Erin, Chrissy, Meg, and the rest of the assistants and front desk staff were so responsive and compassionate, I can't thank them all enough.
The staff at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital are always so kind and personable while still being quite professional. I love them!!
Well, I decided to take my older dog here for severe diarrhea in May. I didn't know their practice so I had no preference of which Vet to see. They gave me a woman who was SUPER nice, but had 7 minutes out of school with NO experience. After $400 in tests - I could read the tests - and what this young vet wanted to do was more tests. I asked the practice to give me a more experienced Vet for my dog's follow up visit. This went ON for days. They finally had the manager call me - who btw - was VERY nice as she informed me she had good news: They would only charge me $47 for my pets recheck - but the problem was it was supposed to be free - she politely reminded me it was only if I used the same Vet - who I then reminded her was IMHO was not experienced enough. She then told me that this would be a new visit with a new vet. I was REALLY upset. So, let me get this straight: * Charlotte Street gives me a vet who I felt was inexperienced * I asked that the "free" recheck be with another vet who was more experienced - to look over the blood tests *I was informed that was not a recheck but a new fee What is important to know: THEIR VETS DO NOT CONSULT ONE ANOTHER. Even though I was a new client, had no confidence in who they assigned me, they insisted I pay again. No thanks! Watch out. They are friendly but very shady - they only wanted the money. No interest in my dog at all - AND I PAID OVER $400 FOR ONE VISIT ALREADY! I wasn't cheap - I wanted quality care for my dog that they refused to give me. It was simple: new client - offer me a free recheck. Nope.
very good, very caring.
This was an amazing experience. The physical therapists were amazing, thorough and kind. They made my baby feel comfortable, even if she really didn't want to be there.
I do not like the service that charlotte animal hospital gives. I called them a couple of months ago to tell them that I was wanting to cancel my appointment with the chiropractor that works there. I get a woman that says can you please hold. I waited for at least 10 min and then they hang up on me. Then yesterday I tries them again somebody answered finally. I was polite about me having to cancel. But the receptionist was very rude.I said thank you but before I new it she hung up on me. There are at least 3 or 4 people that can answer the phone and the place isn't that busy. They aren't swarming with people. I will never go to this place again.
They couldn't be more nice!!!
Charlotte Street Animal Hospital and Dr. Mary Peters always make taking our dog to the vet a wonderful experience. She is so compassionate and knowledgable - to both animals and humans! I am thankful for her expertise and would definitely recommend her and Charlotte street to anyone seeking the best care for their fur friends.
The whole office has been wonderful: very supportive through the acute loss of my senior cat and very kind with all of my animals. I would highly recommend them!
What great staff !!! You guys do such a great job with Phoenix !!! Thank You <3
After supporting CSAH for about 7 years we are moving on. For the past couple of years I've felt like there is an assumption that I'm not caring for my pet. This assumption comes from the front office staff. I went in today to get heartworm pills for my beloved dog only to be told, "you did not give her heartworm pills last July, August and September". I remained calm. Back when CSAH offered Trifexis (which includes - or did at the time) for heartworm/fleas I put the sentinel aside for those doses. Either way, I should not have to stand at the counter and prove my case. I get my dog her annual exam and give her an amazing life. It seems like CSAH has marketing people coming in to push push push everything they can to us as consumers. More money. More money. More money. No thank you Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. I'm moving on.
Everyone I've interacted with at CSAH has been wonderful: kind and professional. And Dr. Peters is the best vet ever. My animals love coming in!
Everyone in their office is so friendly and kind. They do a great job a putting people at ease when they come in with sick or injured pets.
I drive two hours to bring my bird here. The staff is very professional while also being very friendly. The office is very clean and organized. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a vet experience you will enjoy.
I have really great experiences with the Vet, Dr Ledyard and the staff. I feel like their prices are very fair. My only issue has been they charge an additional fee to quarter cut very small pills my dog needs to take.
Dr. Jen Knepshield is an excellent vet and outstanding diagnostician. We have entrusted our dogs health care to the docs @ CSAH for over ten years and have recommended them time and again to many pet owners..
I cannot say enough good things about Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. I'd visited other vets in town and they always seemed to be lacking in compassion, or seemed more focused on how much they could charge me, while also lacking the knowledge and sophistication for the best care for my pets. Consistently, with all of my pets, Charlotte Street has shown great care for them, and also compassion for me, their owner. I am disabled and so caring for my pets is sometimes extra challenging. Charlotte Street Animal Hospital staff and care providers get this and do everything to help me give the best care possible to my fur babies!
If you want a collection of people who love and take care of your pet as if it was their own, look no further. This amazing group of vet techs and doctors are knowledgeable animal lovers who go above and beyond. They're in keeping with the price of other vet offices as well. I have two puppies, one of which is currently being spayed. One of the vet techs Jackie sent a video of my dog in recovery to put my mind at ease. They've called me multiple times today to update me on the progress of the surgery. Reception is also awesome, they get back to you within hours of calling if it goes to voicemail. We've seen multiple doctors there (all fantastic), currently Dr. Amber fits in with our schedule, and she is totally incredible. She will usually talk to us for 10-15 minutes about our individual pets, their personalities and give us great tips, going above and beyond the call of duty. I believe she has like 9 dogs lol I'm writing such a long review because my pets are hands down the most important thing to me, and this office is by far the best vet clinic I've ever seen.
Went there on an appointment was left in the office waiting for 30 minutes for someone to trim my dogs nails. There excuse was they had an emergency which I can understand but they had 4 assistants joking and talking with one customer in the waiting room the entire time I waited. Also they are way over priced compared to the other animal hospital I’ve used.
Dr. Amber was kind, thorough, and practical in her suggestions. She and all staff with whom we had contact took time to interact with my dog with respect and consideration for his timidness. This makes all the difference in his comfort (and mine!).
I love CSAH! They are wonderful caring individuals that treat my animals as if they were their own. I highly recommend taking your pets there if quality care is what you are looking for!
Charlotte Street Animal Hospital went the extra mile to help attend to our kitty who needed immediate medical attention. Everyone on the team was so caring and compassionate. Appreciated the clear communication as to next steps and treatment options. Great support when we needed it. Our kitty is on the mend! Thank you Dr. Amber, Megan & team!!!
My 11.5 year old Weimaraner is having back and hip issues. I'm seeing Dr. Amber for acupuncture and so far am very pleased with the results. We have a chiropractor visit scheduled in a couple of weeks as well. The staff have always been extremely helpful and caring for my pup. I feel the rates are comparable and it's wonderful to have a place that offers alternatives to traditional veterinary medicine.
The people here are extremely friendly to you and your pet. It's a nice facility and very professional. I'd recommend this vet for anyone.
Looks like I'm not the only one that has been hung up and ignored multiple times. After waiting patiently for 15 minutes they hung up on me. When I tried to call back, they asked once again in their fake happy customer service robot voice to put me on hold. I said no and told them how I was just ignored after waiting around to be helped, and with a condescending tone she told me to call back when I've "calmed down a bit." Good thing it wasnt an urgent call, because she didn't even ask if it was an emergency, just told me what I should do about my attitude. Emergency calls are treated similar to lines at the DMV Don't waste your money here.
I trusted my vet Mary Peters. My beloved Lucy Love was having joint pain and Mary recommended a series of shots. Not even a week later after her first shot, she was dead (after being extremely sick the entire day). The staff was entirely insensitive to my situation. While she was sick, they locked her in cage "we'll get to her when we can" and wouldn't even allow me to stay and comfort her. I did a lot of scientific research on the legitimacy of her prognosis and found a lot of issues regarding her decision to treat my animal with this procedure. Losing Lucy that day was one of the traumatic experiences of my life, which will haunt me forever. I have nothing but horrible feeling about this situation. I do not consider Mary Peters to be a legit vet. Not to mention the staff totally supported her on the situation, was extremely rude and wouldn't even hear me out or read the scientific journals I printed that negated the legitimacy of using this medication given under Lucy's circumstances. Mary and Charlotte St. Animal Hospital robbed me of Lucy's life. I try not to hold things like this, but it when it comes to my fur babies, I find immense difficulty. If you care about your fury friend, do not take your animal here. Plus, they are expensive.
I am a first time pet owner and the Charlotte Street Animal Hospital has been a blessing. I don't trust many with my cat, and they never disappoint. They always answer all my questions in language I can easily understand, the staff is always warm and welcoming and they are great with the animals they care for.
Very friendly staff. This was our first vet visit ever with our new pup. Staff created a welcoming enviroment.
Everyone at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital has always been friendly, courteous, and helpful regardless of the day or time I visit. All staff members show genuine care and love for the animals.
