EDIT: Updating my review since Dr. N retired. Dr. Hild, who had already been there for a while is now the only vet at this location. She is very sweet and friendly, and when my poor girl was suffering Dr. Hild was patient and helped me choose the best options. I lost my cat this past summer to what we're thinking was cancer, and haven't yet gotten a new cat. But I will not hesitate to return here once I've brought a new ball of fluff into my life. Prices didn't change and are still very affordable, and the rest of the staff are all friendly. Old review: Dr. N, Shelley, and the rest of their team are all wonderful to work with and very friendly and understanding. Dr. N is humorous but blunt, and very no-frills - he won't suggest unnecessary tests and does a very good job of explaining things. I've been taking my geriatric (16 year-old) cat to them since autumn 2015 and am very pleased. An office visit and exam is less than $50, and all other procedures are reasonably priced as well from what I can tell. I plan to continue going to this vet as long as I'm living in the area, and would suggest him and his team to anyone.
Clueless in the treatment of fleas!?! But will tell you to scare away ALLL the squirrels in the neighborhood....cause according to BAH it is all due to the flea infested squirrels!?!?!?!
I highly recommend Brentwood Animal Hospital. The staff was very courteous, very clean facility, and they have a heart. We had to put our beloved family member to sleep. This was our first visit. They were caring and understanding from when we called to make the appointment all the way through the end. As with everyone, your dog is not a pet, but a family member and I do not trust my family members with just anyone. I only wish I had found them sooner.
We've used Brentwood Animal Hospital for over 9 years and have always appreciated the great service we get for our animals there. Dr. N is an excellent vet and he'll give you the straight scoop on your pets and not try to "up sell" you products and services your pets do not need. We've lost three pets (two to old age and one puppy to a pre-existing disease) during this time frame and Brentwood was great to deal with for all the issues including the decision of when to take a dog out of suffering. I've read the one bad opinion posted here and while it is possible that any great place can have a bad day, I've never experienced anything like that at Brentwood. I also never really expect my Vet to "talk" to my pets. I do expect my vet to talk with me in order to take a complete history in order to better treat the animal. Dr. N and his staff always take all the time required to hear all of the issues surrounding my pets' health and to offer options when they are available. This is a "doctor's office" and not a spa treatment for pets. They don't sell doggie costumes and have massage treatments. There are other options in Raleigh if you want that. Brentwood is about quality medical care for non-humans. On that, they deliver in spades. The prices are excellent and if you don't love Shelly, the receptionist, you're just an unhappy person. :)
Dr. Hild is an awesome vet! Shelly, Daniel, Katy are awesome...(plus others I don't know their names offhand). We've been going to Brentwood since 2006 and wouldn't go anywhere else. The best care for our pets and the prices are low...even on prescription food.
Doctor Hild is excellent, she is helpful and explains what is going on! Shelli at the front desk is the best, everyone is always happy and concerned!!!
Awesome staff, affordable and always involving the owner in the animal care.
The staff is so great! Even though I'm sad Dr N retired, Dr Hild is fantastic.
Dr Neuschwander is AWESOME! The staff there truly care about animals. I have two dogs and now three cats that I will only take to Brentwood. I drive past 8 other vets coming from the other side of Raleigh like I do and its totally worth it.
We have been taking our pets to Brentwood Animal Hospital for over 25 years and always had a great experience. Dr. N and Dr. H and the staff are the best. We have always found them to be compassionate, caring and patient. For ex. years ago when we had to put down our beloved cat who was suffering, Dr. N recommended we spend a little more time with him and come back as we were not "ready" at the time. We have found the doctors and the staff to be very trustworthy as well as compassionate and we always trust their advice and guidance.
We have taken our dogs to Brentwood for years. In good times and bad they have been treated with care and compassion.
The people don't know what they were doing. My spouse was not allowed to take my dog in, since I was the one who called. Complete waste of money and time. Didn't even help with the issues we came in for when we finally got him in.
Isabel and Dixie have received nothing but loving care over the years. Thank you to the Doctors and the entire staff at Brentwood Animal Hospital!
Great staff that is much better than other vets we have been to. I would highly recommend.
Dr. N. and the whole staff at Brentwood Animal Hospital literally saved my dog's life! We had just rescued our beautiful Shepherd from a breeder. She had never been socialized and is quite the nervous nelly. Unfortunately her tummy turned (bloat) and she was in a life threatening situation. Dr. N. operated on her, pinned her stomach to keep it from happening again, and gave the best post op. care you could dream of. His staff LOVED and cared for my girl. I truly believe she is alive today because of them. They continue to provide excellent care when she has trouble (recently diagnosed with ulcers...those nerves), and I appreciate Dr. N.s straightforward, yet kind, approach. He is an excellent experienced Vet. and his staff (Shelley and the team) are caring, kind and conscientious.
Excellent Experience. Last week I took my cat to see Dr. Patterson and I couldn't be happier with the care everyone in the office provided. The entire staff seemed genuinely concerned about my feline's illness and was very kind and caring. Dr. Patterson and the staff at Brentwood Animal Hospital took very good care of my cat. She's back to her old self!
LoveLoveLove y'all! Dexters and I would be lost without y'all!❤️
love Brentwood Animal Hospital. The staff is amazing and could not thank you all enough for taking care of my Molly and Duke!
Dr. Steve and staff are awesome. We are so fortunate that they take care of our boys and us too .
Fantastic! Friendly staff and will not perform unnecessary tests to pad the bill. I HIGHLY recommend them. Keep up the great work Dr. N!
Best Veterinary practice in Raleigh. Dr Hill is amazing and really cares about her patients. Prices are very reasonable compared to the rest of the triangle. The prices are just a bonus though...I am a client because of the high level of care they give my pets. I have referred many of my clients here as well and they love it too. Highly recommended!!
Brentwood Animal hospital rocks. Me, my sister, and my parents all use Brentwood. Finally, a practical vet that does not charge you an arm and a leg for quality care and service. Finally a vet that only charges something like $35.00 if you are overreacting to a small concern of your pet that is like a family member. Finally a vet that works with your work schedule. You can drop your pet off in the morning and pick the stinker up after work without any extra fees. Finally, a vet that provides options to handling your pet instead of sending you out with the most expensive or newest medication they carry. Finally, a person like Shelly that works the front desk and goes out of her way to handle all your needs and actually remembers you and your pet. If you are freaking out about your pets health and they are booked she even tries to work you in. The review below from six years ago disgusts me. What are you looking for? A vet that sugar coats everything? A vet that you meet for coffee to discuss your pets health? Get real. Dr. N is blunt and to the point, I appreciate that when my dog is in his care. Blue and I send our thanks to your establishment and staff.
We LOVE Dr. Steve, Dr. Hill, Shelly and the rest of the WONDERFUL Staff! We have been taking our dogs there for the past 25 years... BEST Vet ever! Jay & Susan Meyer
I've been a patient at Brentwood Animal hospital for over 25 years. Dr. Neuschwander and his staff are some of the most compassionate people I've had the privilege of knowing over the years. We have been though everything with spaying/neutering our pets, to treating injuries, to dealing with diabetes and other chronic/acute diseases, but most of all keeping them in a state of optimal health for their age and condition. Dr. N has also been with us at the very end of life, when sometimes our beloved furry friends are suffering and we have had to say good-bye. They even send caring sympathy cards signed by the staff. If and when that hard day comes, it's essential to have someone that really cares. The BAH staff is also amazing. Shelly is always so kind on the phone and in person. The vet techs have always been professional and friendly. Dr. N is extremely competent and professional when assessing our pets, but he also always smiles and asks about our human family too. The prices are very fair. And the fill-in vet Dr. H--she is also very kind and thorough. I have never had any desire to go anywhere else. Our pets and our family have been blessed by the excellent care at Team BAH!!
The best vet and staff. Have been going to Dr. Steve for 20 years with our pets. Reasonable rates on all services and just great down to earth doc.
They have a very personal approach and very thorough. My pet was not stressed and neither was I.
Brentwood Animal Hospital is a fantastic place where you and your pets are treated like family. Dr Neuenschwander is a genuinely good man who cares more than most people will ever know. I am so sad that he will no longer be practicing, but very happy for him and his well deserved retirement. Dr Hilde has Dr N's confidence, so she also has mine. I am sure that she will do him proud, and carry on this great practice for years to come.
All of our cats go here for their health needs. Excellent staff, excellent doctor. We will hate it when he retires soon. He has a veterinarian in the process of buying the practice and I like her already.
We took our pets to Dr. N for 8 years and only stopped because we moved too far away. Dr. N is an amazing vet that is honest about options and his recommendations. He’s a friendly, funny, no-nonsense guy. His fees are VERY reasonable and all the staff is wonderful, especially Shelly!
Very nice people, affordable cost
Loyal customer now for many years, always reasonable price and friendly staff
The doctors and staff always take excellent care of my pups and kitties, and you can tell they truly love animals.
Love this office and the whole vet team! Really impressed by the knowledge, attention to detail and kindness shown. Very reasonably priced. Stella, LeRoy, Eddie and Rosie thank you for all you've done for them!
I am grateful for the kind and professional care given my sweet Good Boy, and me, in a difficult situation. Trust that you and your wonderful pets will be well cared for here. Thank you, Dr. Hild and Shelly.
They seem to really give a care about your animals.
I took my dog here when she was starting to fall ill and in pain. I knew something was serious, but Dr. Hild said it was arthritis and weight and prescribed pain meds. When I explained her stools had changed she said she probably had a parasite and will treat at her annual and kept telling me to cut back on her food. I explained she was not overweight and that something was off about my dog. A week later, things worsened and they wouldnt bring me in until the end of the day. I took my dog immediately to Carefirst Animal Hospital and they drew blood out of her abdomen and confirmed she had cancer. These were the last moments of her life. Me and my dog were finally treated with respect. I wouldn't recommend Brentwood or Dr. Hild to my worst enemy.
Love this vet! Dr. N takes care of all of our pets and has now for nearly 14 years. Does what is needed and explains why it is needed, never orders tests unneccessarily, and keeps our pets in top form. My youngest pup will 12 this year and he has helped me keep her in top form!
I have been taking my pets to Brentwood Animal Hospital for at least 15 years and have never had a problem nor reason to complain. In fact, just the opposite. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Steve and his staff. They loved my pets and I always felt comfortable with his diagnosis and treatment. Since Dr. Steve retired, I have only had one occasion to visit Brentwood. I'm not quite that comfortable with the new vet yet, but perhaps that will come with time.
This is the worst vet I've ever been to. Here's our story: It looked like our cat was bleeding everytime she walked on something white. So we took her to the Brentwood Animal Hospital. After describing the problem to the vet, he suggested we put her under and they scope out her esophagus. Turned out everything looked fine, and to the tune of $80 we were told to keep an eye on things and let them know if something else turned up. In the coming days we saw the "bleeding" continue, and we took her back in. This time we showed him pictures and gave further description of what was going on. Another $40 later, another diagnosis of everything is fine and let us know if something goes wrong. Two weeks later, "bleeding" is still sporadic, and so I decide to google. I type in "cat bleeding at sink." What comes up? First result: she has fleas. FLEAS. This vet could not diagnose the most common problem with pets. So now I have a flea problem in my house that's gone on unchecked for more than three weeks due to this vet's inability to diagnose. We've called them, and they refuse to refund any of our payments. What's worse, they wouldn't apologize. Worst vet ever.
