We moved to Atrium after a bad experience with another vet. My husband, who was the one taking our old boy in that day, was probably more nervous than the cat. Dr Laura immediately put him at ease, telling him both the likely problem and, upon finding out he had a science background, explaining the science and medicine behind her choice of treatment. As our old boy got closer to the end, she continued to give us options but let us choose what felt best. The whole staff was supportive and came to know us in the more frequent visits near the end, and showed genuine sympathy for us. I will definitely be bringing new additions to our family here when we decide we're ready.

They have taken very good care of several of my pets, both cats & dogs. They've also provided me with good advice and "therapy" when end-of-life decisions had to be made. The practice includes herbal medicine, and, I think, prolonged the lives and the quality of life of at least two of my pets. I recommend this practice highly. Any/all of the veterinarians are excellent, as is the physical therapist.

Dr. Kim Homb is awesome. You will get wonderful care here for very complex issues. I use Dr. Homb for her expertise in Traditional Chinese medicine for my champion bullmastiffs. She is so kind and has exceptional wisdom in numerous areas of expertise. The staff are most helpful. I trust this group with my hairy babies.

After 3 days of under treatment for my cat named Goldie, at Atrium Animal Hospital, I moved her to Long ER Hospital. It was clear to me she was terribly dehydrated by the way she sat at her water bowl barely able to hold her head up. Atrium Hospital reluctantly and slowly gave her a small amount of fluids even though I requested aggressive fluids. They said she had a heart murmur of 2 or 3 on scale of 6 so if they gave fluids it would be very slowly. After three days of going to Atrium and coming back home each trip she worsened daily. The lack of fluids nearly killed her. Upon arriving at Long Animal Hospital Dr Messenger aggressively started fluids within 30 minutes of Goldie arriving. She had not eaten for four days but with Dr Messengers knowledge and serious fluid treatment she began to show interest in food again within a few hours. She is still sick with pancreatitus, and bacteria in her bladder but without the aggressive treatment Dr Messenger at Long gave her immediately, she might not have had a fighting chance to rebound. She was as limp as a rag when I took her out of Atrium's care after 3 days of them telling me to be patient while she got significantly worse. Dr Messenger and Dr James at Long Aninmal Hospital have given Goldie the serious attention and treatment I could not get from the other clinic. Also, at the Atrium clinic where she was undertreated it was hard to talk to the DR so a lot was via the technician. Long Animal Hospital saved her life. Goldie might still have underlying issues that will impede her from living several more years, but it was clear from labs that she was not sick enough to die this week. I don't think Atrium Drs have the knowledge to provide the care Goldie needed which is scary for other animals. Atrium has helped me with hurt squirrels, chipmunks, cat and dog nail trim and vaccinations but other than that stay away. The owner would not reimburse me even partially and didn't have the courtesy to call me directly. The front staff clearly love animals and are nice but the medical treatment is lacking so steer clear unless it's just routine treatment. I do give them credit for helping with wildlife.

My Bunny vet left the practice where I had been going, so I searched up vet's who see rabbits ~ made an appointment, a little further of a drive for me, but this place was awesome. I learned a lot about rabbits as well, and they handled my two bunnies with great care, trimmed up a few knots, trimmed the nails, had a check up and I will definitely be back! I am very thankful to have found Atrium Animal Hospital. I cannot say enough about the entire staff. I called in to inquire about their practice and schedule an appointment for my pup. The lady who answered my call (Suzanne I believe) was incredibly helpful and understanding. She spent 30-minutes on the phone with me. I find that incredibly rare these days. She was very helpful and addressed all of my concerns. I was able to be seen very quickly. My First visit was nothing short of amazing. Upon arrival, the front desk happily greeted me and my very vocal (loud) pup with open arms. No stress, no judgement. Very soon, Brittany, a vet tech I think (but a true animal whisperer) came to take us back. Brittany is seriously special. My pup does not like the vet but Brittany was able to calm my dog beyond anything I've ever experience between him and a stranger. We visited with Dr. Johnson, who was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She too was very experienced in handling my high energy breed. Atrium has so many resources available, all on staff which allows them to help diagnose and treat almost anything for your furry family member. In just a short time, Atrium has made me a raving fan and I will be returning for the foreseeable future.

Can't say enough positive things about our dental experience on Monday. Sierra is a little reactive in strange situations so Atrium let me stay with her the entire day. We were set up in a back room and they came in the room to do her "sleepy" shot, then let me take her out and stay with her while they put in her catheter and let me carry her in to the room where the dental was to be performed. I then went back to the room to hang out until the dental was done. After the dental they gave her some IV fluids and then brought her back to me to hold, along with a warmer, to get her body temp back up. They checked on her every 30 minutes or so until we were discharged. Everyone treated Sierra kindly and with love. Felt like she was in great hands the entire day. Thank you!

The office was freezing cold and very uninviting. Service was painfully slow as I was there for more than an hour and a half with maybe a total of 20 minutes with either the Vet or a tech. Vet was loud and kept speaking in medical terms that I had to ask for definitions / explanations for, which were then given in a condescending manner rather than him just explaining it nicely to start. The techs were nice but gave the impression that they were first year students; 2 different techs were unable to draw blood and kept sticking my dog to the point where I drew the line and told them we wouldn’t be proceeding with this standard test. I will not return to this office.

I've absolutely never had a vet I trusted more than Dr. Laura. We just lost our oldest "child" in April. Tugboat was a 15 year old bulldog, and Dr. Laura never stopped helping me until the end. She takes her patients very seriously, and she knows that they are family members. If Dr. Laura had not had the drive to keep "pushing" for answers to Tugboat's issues 4 years ago, I would have had to have said "good-bye" to my sweet bulldog (my baby) before his time. All of the staff at Atrium are very caring and knowledgeable. You can trust them.

I loved how she prescribed Chinese herbs for our dog's seasonal allergies instead of Benadryl like every other vet we have been to in the past which is helping Monkey so much already!! She also talked about food and what proteins would be better for our little allergy dog and recommended adding a probiotic to her diet. She also made us realize that the Salmon oil we were using was actually making poor Monkey's allergies worse and she gave us some samples of a better quality salmon oil as well as a holistic dehydrated food that Monkey loved!

I have been bringing my dogs here for over 10 years. Everyone is so nice and helpful and seem to really care about my pups. I love that they provide options for more holistic medicine and treatments along with regular veterinary practices. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and I've never felt like anyone was trying to push any treatments on me. I feel like the people here truly care about the well-being of all animals and try to do what they believe is best for them.

We currently have three dogs and two cats, and have had several other pets over the years, all of which are/have been extremely important to us. Going back many years as well as living in different states, we've had numerous experiences with different vets and I can say Atrium is the best by far. All of the staff and doctors are pleasant and know what they are doing, and always put the animal's welfare first. We've been using them exclusively now for years and I wouldn't trust my babies with anyone else. Just one of many examples: We adopted an extremely neglected dog with a myriad of health issues while I was working in another state, where that local vet told me her prognosis was extremely guarded and he wasn't sure he could help her. I got a second opinion from Atrium, and under Dr. Johnson's care, she is now thriving and doing great two years later.

All emotion aside, I would not recommend this hospital. I took my beloved cat to be examined because she has a growth on her rear end. They 'worked' us in on Saturday and took blood and said they recommended having it surgically removed. I agreed and scheduled the surgery for Wednesday. I asked them to call me with an estimate of the charges before the surgery. They called me Tuesday PM after I had to remind them that I wanted an estimate prior to the surgery. The gal said it would be in the range of $650 since they had to do blood work. I informed her that they had already done the blood work. She said "Oh in that case, we will reduce the amount by $95." I looked at my bill from Saturday and they charged me $149.68 for the blood work. I don't know about you but giving me a credit of $95 for something I paid nearly $150 doesn't work for me. I understand they need to make a profit but I expect a 100% credit for something when I pay for it. Not a 64% credit. I used to be engaged to a vet tech so I know the games they play. I love my cat dearly and have paid for some extremely expensive procedures before. But I will not take her someplace that runs a scam like this.

Dr. Morrison and his support staff were highly skilled when performing a blood draw and crop wash of my 10 1/2 year old chicken. He accurately diagnosed her avian yeast infection (megabacteriosis) and prescribed a treatment plan. He suggested x-rays which showed an abnormal mass of the proventriculus. Dr. Morrison said he thought it was cancer. His diagnosis was correct. Birds are difficult to diagnose. Dr. Morrison and his support staff were on top of the situation.

This place is overpriced, and more interested in up selling than anything else. I took my French Mastiff Here for over two years with horrible allergies, and all they kept doing was to push some holistic bulls*** while the whole time my dog was suffering. When I found out about apoquel, I was told the 'doctor' was adamately against it, and I had to force the issue in order to get the script. I now take my dog to a different vet. One that actually gives a f***. These people oight to be ashamed of themselves.

Will never again bring any of my pets to this clinic. They were slow to pinpoint my cat's issues which could have been spotted early enough to save his life. Looking back it should have been a no brainer. Instead the first thing the vet did was to give him an injection for skin issues . My cat's skin and fur were in perfect condition. The injection did nothing for him and probably did more damage than good as his kidneys were failing. When they did figure out it was his kidneys they sent me an e-mail but no phone call. I missed the e-mail and when I finally saw it while searching for something else things had advanced quickly.

We will not go back here again. We had an appointment for acupuncture to address our dog's leg issue after two prior visits where 2 different mild pain killers were prescribed. The dog can barely walk. The first acupuncture appt. was moved a week later and I had to be out of town so my husband took her. The doctor convinced him NOT to do acupuncture yet and proceeded to load him up with 200$ worth of food and supplements. Of course they are NOT returnable(written in small print on the bill) I was furious when I ask how did her acupuncture treatment go?

If you're looking for an animal hospital that will not only give your pet top notch medical care but also treat him/her like family, Atrium is the place to go! All of the doctors are so knowledgable and compassionate and go out of their way to connect with your pet to ensure a comfortable, not scary, visit. You will never feel rushed during a visit and all of your questions will be very thoroughly answered. Atrium has so much to offer beyond just the basic "take this pill" approach that other hospitals take. Both of my dogs have benfited greatly from some of those specialized treatments such as k laser treatments, acupuncture, underwater treadmill and herbal supplements. Another benfit of being part of the Atrium family is that they have "Wellness Wednesday" seminars the last Wednesday of each month which are always SO interesting! They do that because they truly care about your pet and want you to be as informed as possible. I feel very confident that my beloved four legged family members are healthier and will likely live longer due to the amazing care that they receive at Atrium.

Overpriced care and advocates of "holistic" pseudo-science such as acupuncture for your pet. I utilized them for my two cats simply due to their location being close at the time. Nonetheless, I was often charged for procedures I did not ask for, and they could not validate as necessary. When they could not validate the charges, they removed them. Mind you, they do offer "traditional medicine", but cost-wise, are almost double what equally competent vets are capable of. In addition, they do not tend to listen to the customer, or pay close attention to the case notes of the patient. Both my cats have anxiety issues if I'm not reassuring them during examination. Despite my warnings, their solution was to try to restrain them with vet-techs who simply caused my cats to panic. Bottom line, look elsewhere. Since moving back to Akron, Ohio, I've returned to Valley Animal Hospital for my cat's veterinary needs, and couldn't be happier. They provide top-notch care backed by science, not metaphysics, and their cost is very reasonable. There are many good veterinarians in Charlotte, NC. as well, but Atrium is not among them.

This wonderful place deserves more than 5 stars. I was referred to them for my little hamster Pepper who was very sick. They saw me frantically sitting in the parking lot before they opened and graciously took Pepper in early. I had never been a patron there before, but I was treated like they had known me my entire life. I was so impressed with the compassion and knowledge of the entire staff, and especially Dr. Laura who worked so hard to save Pepper. She updated me throughout the day, and I know Pepper was so well taken care of. Unfortunately, Pepper was just too sick. When she passed, the staff had wrapped her in a blanket and had decorated a box for her when I went to pick her up that evening. That absolutely blew me away. They went above and beyond for my little pet. I highly recommend this animal hospital and wellness center, they treat you and your pet like family. This is the absolute best veterinary care my pets have ever received!

ATRIUM ANIMAL HOSPITAL is the only veterinary service I've ever used for my 11-year-old cockapoo, and the only place I'll ever take him. Even after moving, I drive 25 minutes and past several other veterinary services to their office. AAH offers a full array of traditional veterinary care and what were once called "alternative" treatments, such as acupuncture and the use of beneficial Chinese herbs. And they treat "exotic" animals as well as Fido and Fluffy. "Professional, competent, responsive, friendly, and flexible" describes this "crew." Office staff, vet techs, and veterinarians: every person I've encountered at AAH fits that description. I CHOOSE ATRIUM ANIMAL HOSPITAL FOR MY BELOVED PET!

The communication is amazing; they provide frequent updates and take the time to explain everything and answer questions! Our pets even get a report card after their visit (which is great because it has the details about their weight and overall health as well as any instructions)!

Absurdly overpriced, charging 50% premiums over similar vets' offices for common tests. Attempts to prescribe non-pharmaceutical "holistic" medicinal cures whose efficacy is not supported by meta-analyses in scientific literature. Gouges prices on these holistic products compared to online sources. Demands redundant examination outside the legal requirements of NC to prescribe heartworm medication. Issues with their office layout including a front desk area that affords dogs no room to walk past each other without interacting. On more than one occassion, an employee carelessly walked a dog with a slack leash directly past my dog who was being held tightly against my body, causing the two dogs to get into a scuffle. Does not respond to email feedback, on multiple occassions failed to email me test results when I requested they do so.

What a GREAT PLACE to help your Pets. Our family pet recently took a bad jump off of furniture and injured leg and needed to be seen. They worked us in and gave us WONDERFUL CARE!!! Everyone there is just so attentive, caring and dedicated to what they do. They ALL were EXCELLENT.We will be making them our permanent Vet for Life. Highly recommend!

Out pet wabbit Bernie, had serious issues affecting his stomach and we were extremely concerned about him. Dr. Credit and all of the staff at Atrium were there for us and helped get Bernie back to excellent health. They massaged him every hour for 2 days. My dog has received all routine care and treatment for periodic health issues from the professionals at Atrium Animal Hospital since I adopted him as a 9-week-old puppy in March 2008. I include the entire staff -- top-flight office/reception crew, skilled veterinary techs, and compassionate veterinarians -- in that designation as "professionals." The office is always clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. The staff is efficient and both pet- and owner-friendly. The vets and vet techs work together to provide quality care, always with the health, comfort, and happiness of the pets top-of-mind. Finally, I purchase all my dog's food at AAH because the *same* brand of premium dog food stocked at a discount online mail-order business turned out to be of lesser quality that what I purchase, by the case, from Atrium Animal Hospital. I am grateful that the pet I love so much is enjoying a great life in top health, and I owe that to the professionals at Atrium Animal Hospital

Absolutely adore Atrium Animal Hospital! One pup I've been taking to them for over 5 years and a new puppy for a few months. Never had a problem and I've not met a doctor there that I did not love! They've helped me get through: puppy vaccinations, parvo (ended up having to go to CVS for their icu when things got critical though) , 2 snake bites, etc. Both my pups love everyone there and all the doctors and nurses know my pups by name. I started bringing my dog to Atrium Animal Hospital at the end of February this year. My dog Toby received a diagnosis at the end of last year and I needed to get a treatment plan started for him. Toby needed the holistic approach for his treatment plan. Dr. Kim Hombs has been remarkable in caring for Toby! Dr. Hombs assistant, Traci has been great with Toby too! Toby was overweight when he started coming to Atrium Animal Hospital. Dr. Kim Hombs made a crock pot recipe for Toby's food. I wasn't sure if Toby would like the crock pot cooking but he loves it! Toby has lost 10 pounds since coming to Atrium Animal Hospital! Toby started receiving accupuncture last week! Toby seemed to enjoy his first acupuncture and I'm looking forward to seeing positive results! Toby is 10 years old and has always been nervous when going to the vet. When I tell Toby that we are going to see Dr. Hombs and Traci he gets excited! I feel welcomed each and every time that we come to Atrium Animal Hospital. The front desk staff are very helpful and happy to see Toby!

After some disappointing experiences with other vets, I found Atrium. I have brought all my animals here. Just in the last month they have very gently helped me let my little girl Chihuahua loose from her pain. They have examined both my dogs and found one has a heart murmur that no one else had found, even though I kept telling other vets something was wrong. But what really stands out to me is what happened this week. I took my large cat in to get his rabies shot and as we were leaving, he managed to break loose from his carrier and run. I was terrified. We were so close to 51 and it was 5:00 traffic. But no fewer than five staff members immediately ran out trying to catch him. He managed to avoid everyone for about 20 minutes, always getting closer to the highway. I had just about given up and I went around the corner and here they came carrying a very large, angry cat! They are my heroes!

I knew from the first phone call this place was going to be amazing. We were very distraught with our pup going into renal failure and everything we tried wasn't working - I saw Atrium had some holistic services and we gave them a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the kind people inside. Pure hearted, genuine animal lovers. Not to mention they are opened on SATURDAY! The wonderful Dr. Laura ended up prescribing her western and eastern medicine specifically for her kidneys. She sat with me for about an hour helping me understand how canine kidneys function and steps to help them - and she even called me from HER home to check up on me. I've never had a better experience than I did with Atrium, Dr. Laura, and all of their staff. I feel like they gave our pup the best fighting chance possible.

This is the only place I trust with my rabbit Splatter. He has been going here for nearly 3 years now and I love it! Today the two awesome ladies who trimmed his nails taught me step by step how to do it at home in a way that is both comfortable and painless for my bunny. When doctor Laura came in, she answered all the questions I had and took her job a step further in teaching the 3 kids who were with me the difference between an omnivore, carnivore, and heribivore AND let them listen to Splatter’s heartbeat! Yes there is no doubt this a fantastic Vet to take your furry babies too. We were clients for over three years. HOWEVER, one terrible experience ruined all the good my wife and I have seen in this practice. In short, my pet was put on prescription ID indefinetly due to chronic pancreatitis which we were fine with. Well, we went to purchase the ID as percribed at Atrium and a mistake was made by their staff. Instead of giving us low fat we received the regular food in which we beleive caused another bout of his condition. That week we had brought in our pet and was told by the attending Vet only to give him the lowfat in which was precribed. I stated yes we give him what he is prescribed. When i got back to my house I looked at the food they had sold us and low and behold it was the wrong food. Lastly, the Vet had told the owner of the practice she had never in fact stated this. Heard it with my own ears. Mistakes I can live with, lies are another story.

Horrible bedside manner of NEW Vet. Overcharged for follow up on flare up condition! Tried to push me into $2800 Specialist for my cat!The charged me $400 for office visit and unnecessary x-rays. Condescending attitude towards owner and false accusations on paperwork!! I made an attempt to see the Administrator who was too busy to talk to me, so another associate did, but there was no resolution to the overcharges and poor treatment. I took my cat to Long Vet and ER, and they did a complete workup and diagnostic testing and did not see the so called "polyp" he had in his nasal canal....bill was only $57.50. It is worth the drive to Long to get treated fairly have 24 ER care if needed, and compassionate professional staff. STAY AWAY FROM ATRIUM< in South Charlotte.

Everyone at Atrium Animal Hospital from the front desk to the techs are super friendly and very helpful. Dr. Laura Lathan, DVM is exceptionally knowledgable and really cares for her patients and their owners. They have a combination of western and natural forms of healing and prescribe herbal remedies when helpful. I recommend you visit and choose them for your pet's total healthcare.

In April, Dr Laura diagnosed my daughter’s bunny, Enzo, with cancer and in May we decided to have her amputate his hind leg. Before the surgery he looked so sad and in so much pain. Post surgery he’s like a reborn bunny. He seems so happy and runs all over the place as if he still has all of his limbs. He tosses his stuffed animal all around and hops in and out of his cage on his own with no problem. He pretty much recouped a couple of days after his surgery. We are so grateful to Dr. Laura and her team for doing a great job and making Enzo happy again. We are also so glad we decided to go forward with the surgery and I’m sure Enzo is too

Dr. Kim Hombs is a wealth of knowledge and really cares. We went there to treat our previous dog for cancer and then took our current dog there recently for a consult to give him a good start. Atrium continues to be our choice for treating our senior dogs. Back in March Dr Johnson found time to see Leonidas early one morning and told us to get him to the emergency hospital ASAP. Leonidas had to have emergency surgery to remove a large tumor. The folks at Atrium were helpful and compassionate and continue to see both of our senior dogs. Book in advance regular check ups- its well worth the 30 minute drive for us to Atrium to see Dr Johnson.
