Brought my dog Banzai to be boarded at Appalachian Animal Play-Cations for 2 nights while we were out of town. She is a bit shy, but ended up befriending 2 other dogs and had a blast playing all weekend. Play-Cations really let me feel at ease leaving my baby for a couple days. The staff is super sweet and helpful, and quickly responded to me checking in on how she was doing. Highly recommend boarding here.

My wife called and asked how much to trim our 2 dogs nails. She was quoted $15 a piece over the phone. She makes an appointment and takes the dogs there. After about only 5 minutes a piece with each dog they come back out and tell her it will be $25 a piece. She explained that she was quoted only $15 but they had decided to add a hard to handle charge of an additional $10 to each dog. NEVER even once was this told to her up front! They simply decided to add an additional charge. Being the sweetheart she is she went ahead and paid it and then called me upset. I own a business and know exactly how unprofessional and dishonest that is. It is a very good thing I was not there, they would have taken what they quoted me or not gotten paid at all. I know a practice that acts like that doesn t care to hear this but we will NEVER return to them for our business even though they are literally 2 minutes from our house and I will make sure to spread the word to everyone. That additional $20 they sneakily added will cost them much much more in the long run. Customer Service goes a long way.

Dr. Stone and her entire staff, especially her assistant Vanessa, are so kind, thorough, and absolutely loving toward my dogs. She recommended discontinuing Lyme vaccine from Maryland because they don't have a regular incidence here, but changed their flea and tick meds to include better and swifter eradication of ticks that carry diseases that are prevalent in TN such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I like that she was so thorough in going over their histories and meds. She even followed up personally the next day with blood test results. I hated leaving our amazing vet that we all love (Jarrettsville Veterinary Clinic) in Maryland but Dr. Stone had made the process much less stressful. We are so happy we found her!

I moved here from the Charlotte area in the fall of 2012. When I moved, I needed a new large and small animal veterinarian. Appalachian Animal Hospital was highly recommended for both by a veterinarian that I have been using for the past 16 years. I am very pleased with the service. It doesn't matter if I go the office with one of my 5 dogs or if one of the large animal veterinarians comes to me. The veterinarians and their staff always treat me and my animals very well. They explain things in terms that non-veterinarians can understand and give treatment options. They are friendly and personable. I highly recommend them!!!

I have taken my dogs to wonderful vets but Dr Dunnigan is a rarity. Whereas the business of being a vet can understandably desensitize a person over time, Dr Dunnigan’s love of animals is apparent from the moment you meet her. I took my 11.5 year old Swissy to her to have some tumors removed and a teeth cleaning earlier this year. We returned for a nail trim last week and Walter was so excited to be there I was honestly a little jealous (I definitely have never experienced that feeling towards any surgeon I have seen;). What’s more important, and quite possibly the reason for this review, is the way the staff treated Walter. Absolutely wonderful people. All of them. When they took Walter to the back to get gussied up, there was laughter and everyone was making such a glorious fuss over him. I was again a little jealous and wanted to join the party. Walter’s final years will be incredible because of the exceptional level of care and love found in this place. Thank you, App Vet! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We recently had to take our Doberman in to help her cross to her heavenly home, and the staff that had loved on her for three years all came in to say goodbye and get kisses. Be very careful about this hospital! They will perform procedures on your pet without your knowledge or consent. The doctor I talked to was very understanding of what I wanted and the sign in sheet stated exactly what my dog needed. They took it upon themselves to "MAYBE" do other procedures that were unnecessary and could have NOT been any benefit to my dog. Look around for other hospitals even it it is an emergency.

I've been taking my animals here since we moved to the area 2 years ago. Everyone is very nice and I have no complaints about the care, but the front office seems disorganized and understaffed. I've just hung up after being placed on hold for five-plus minutes (it seems to happen every time I call). Making an appointment always seems to involve a lot of confusion and hemming and hawing about when my animal can be seen. I'm going to ask around about other local animal hospitals and see if there is one that is more efficient.

Love this place! The doctor's really care about the animals, the staff are super nice, friendly and helpful. The building is clean, nicely decorated, smells good (which is important for a vet's office) and has plenty of parking! I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. Both of my dogs have had surgeries which have gone well and came home with pain meds afterwards. The other one has a chronic disease that they have helped us in the care, understanding, and advice!
