I have been going to this facility with my cats for a few years. I really really like the people who work there. The front desk people are friendly; the vet technicians are too. And Dr. Ashley Gray is simply excellent. She wants to be there, she knows her stuff, she is excellent at customer service and explaining medical stuff. It is also very obvious that she has a love and respect for animals. She and Ms. Katie helped me recently with my cat's visit and I am so grateful to them. Thank you Dr. Gray, Katie and the rest of the staff! They always help me learn how to best take care of my pets. And my pets are super important to me :)

Upon my first visit they forgot to provide me with medication for my kittens. They called me and said I could pick them up anytime. I work odd hours so I asked if I could come anytime since it is 24 hours, they siad yes of course. I left my home in Gastonia at 4:00am and arrived at 4:30am - they turned me away and said I had to come back during normal business hours. I explained the situation that they forgot to give me the medication and I was told I could come at anytime. The people working at the time made an exception due to the mistake of forgetting to give the medication and misinforming me that I could come at anytime to get the medication. I was very appreciative to get the medication. Thank you so much for making an exception realizing the situation and showing you care!

We have been taking our cats to Animal Medical since we moved to Charlotte in 2008. Dr. Blackburn is wonderful. She is great with our cats, very thorough in her exams and has a great personality. We now live in Lake Wylie, SC but continue to use Animal Medical Hospital for our kitties.

Having had several of my pets to AMH I can assure you that they are a deeply caring and attentive organization. They have helped us both during emergencies and during routine visits and ALWAYS come through for us when we needed them the most. I noted several reviews in which people were either unhappy with the prices charged or with the care received. First off, running a 24/7 vet service and emergency service IS NOT CHEAP!!! The charges at AMH are very much in line with the rest of the vets in Charlotte. Don't believe me, call around. If you are trying to save money you may consider the Spay and Neuter Clinic on 224 W. 32nd Street. They are dirt cheap for what they offer and do a good job overall, but they have distinct limitations in their care that AMH does not. Also, if you received treatment somewhere else and things go wrong, it is not the responsibility of AMH to correct a bad situation. Take your pet to where ever you went initially no matter how far. As for Vet Specialists of Charlotte, in my experience, they are in it for the money and don't give two hoots how they get it. AMH on the other hand has always been caring and attentive. If YOU have a problem with them, perhaps you should look to your own behavior first.

Over a weekend my dog, Lucy , became more and more lethargic and I finally noticed that her gums and tongue were white and I decided it was time to take her in. From the moment I walked in the door the team immediately recognized what an urgent situation it was and took action. At all points during that day the staff took time to explain and tried to make me feel at ease as I cried thinking about my sweet girl being so sick. As the next day or so went on I began to correspond more often with Dr. Goode. I’m sure it isn’t easy to be honest with patients and not providing false hope, while also providing a level of comfort. But through all of that Dr. Goode never hesitated to answer the same question twice, provide realistic expectations, but still used a tone of voice that made me feel like it would be ok and that they were doing all that was necessary to take care of my best friend. Through all of it, so far she’s doing remarkably well and I’m very hopeful she will make a full recovery. I didn’t want to wait to post a review because I was so taken by how wonderfully I was treated by Dr. Goode and her staff and it’s obvious they care and love our animals like they are their own. It meant the world to me that you provided the care that you did and although I lost a lot of sleep worrying and a lot of tears, I got to take my puppy home and I know that was thanks to you.

I have taken my German Shepherd here every since he was 8 weeks old! He is ALWAYS happy to see Dr. Schoenig and the rest of the staff. They care for him as if he is their own! I would NEVER take him anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend.

This was hands down the worst experience I have ever had at an animal hospital. We rushed my mother's dog there after it was attacked by another dog. On the car ride there, we lost him, and we went to the hospital to just verify that he did not make it to & to ensure he wasn't still suffering. The entire process was rushed, there was no time to grieve, all the staff cared about was taking our money. They did absolutely nothing (since nothing could obviously be done) but re-wrapped the dog in a different towel, returned him to us, and charged us $85 for their "services". The lack of compassion, the forcefulness of the staff to get the bill paid before returning our now deceased dog and the harrowing experience will never leave my mind, and I intend to tell everyone I know not to go to this hospital, as they are obviously motivated by money and not by anything else.

While I know a lot of the circumstances were out of the control of the staff, I had a VERY long wait at the emergency clinic with my sick kitty last night. I waited for almost 5 hours just to be sent home with a cat that was still vomiting and who the techs were unable to administer medication to... why couldn't they administer medications? Maybe because we had an almost 5 hour wait in a cold exam room. I do realize this is an emergency clinic and only one veterinarian was on staff and there were several life threatening cases that came in... but I was sent home with a vomiting cat and ORAL medications. While I was able to get them down my kittens throat she promptly did what she has been doing all night and threw them right back up. While I don't begrudge the staff for trying to save the lives of the dogs that came in, I am a little upset that I paid $95 for the privilege of sitting in a cold room for 4 hours just to be told that I could add another several hours onto my long visit, and then it taking another hour for them to unsuccessfully adminiter medication and fluids and to send me on my way. The staff almost forgot to send me with my cat's prescribed medocation, too! I went home, got a few hours of sleep sleep, and will be going to my regular vet hoping to get some help for my kitten.

We have an older cat who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Every staff member we came in contact with ---whether is was 11AM or 3AM-- were very nice and helped put us at ease. The staff took great care of both us and our cat. As of this month all of the cancer has been removed. I cannot recommend them enough. 10/10 would go back.

To start I wish I could give them a lower score than 1. I was never a customer because the doctor refused to see my guinea pigs unless they were perfectly healthy. I find it to be immoral to refuse service to animals especially when it's your job. It's extremely hard to find doctors who are able to care for exotics pets, so to have the door figuratively slammed in our faces was wrong. Thankfully we found a doctor who was willing to see our pets sick or not.

The only reason they gave 1 star b/c I had to in order to post. I am one of those people that apparently like getting burned. Even after reading different reviews, I decided to keep my pet there. The customer service is very low, there is a disconnect between the veterinarian, when visiting, and the front desk staff. Or do they just act that way so they won't be ashamed for acting like they don't care & don't know. This place is utterly expensive. For the amount of money; cash, no plastic, I expect great service. Even if the fee was minimal, we should still receive great customer service. I have been charged approx. $3000 by them and it has not been a year yet. I finally got tired and made an appt at Stand for Animals vet, care, and clinic and they are very welcoming, cares for our pets, and the fee is $170 cheaper (monthly). I was being overcharged & this is why I am posting. If your animal attends this clinic, seek out other alternatives because this 1 & the one next door are 2 of most expensive places in Charlotte. I may not be able to get that cash back but I could help prevent others from having to be in that same pit that I was, cause it's bottomless; without prayer.

I've contacted this business 5 times within the last 2 hours today and every time I request to speak with a nurse, I'm directed to a automated system, ultimately not getting any assistance. I see you guys pride yourself on "Superior Service" but I beg to differ considering I cant speak with someone regarding my concerns. Luckily I contacted Harris Boulevard Veterinary Clinic, spoke with a very knowledgeable lady by the name of Sarah who scheduled an appointment to have my dog seen. I don't expect a manager/owner to respond to my opinionated review..I clearly see they only respond to the comments that are highly praising them on their service.

I took my cat Shadow to this 24 hour animal hospital last night, 4/26/15, and it felt like I had brung in a car instead. The vet and the technician were young, and they seemed inexperience in conveying information to pet parents. It came across to me that they were more money-driven compared to pet concerns. After observing their presentation skills, I just lack trust in them. The estimate was quite costly, and something just didn't seem right with their presentation of information. I wanted my cat and her physical notes. I wanted a second opinion,so I was told to come back the next day for the notes without the consideration of my initial payment or the thought of my needing them to take my cat somewhere else. It was suggested to me as an option to euthanize my cat there for free. I want a refund for poor customer service, and lack of quality of care to my cat. Fortunately for my Shadow, she is doing much better with my neighbor's vet care, and she didn't need to be euthanize. This hospital should consider having a more experienced older vet on duty for late night emergencies, because this younger vet unintentionally could cost pet parents their animals lives. I just wanted to share our story to say that some professionals who work in the pet industry isn't so pet-friendly.

My husband and I were in a panic when we discovered our dog had eaten a toxic plant and was fading fast. Our vet doesn't offer after hour services but we found you guys. You said "come on" on a Saturday night and we did. You saved our girl and we will be forever grateful. You were courteous and helpful and provided excellent service. Excellent service! I recently moved to the area, and after going to 3 other vets in Rock Hill I was frustrated! My dog Dexter was not putting any weight on one of his back legs. I called AMH around 7:45am on Monday morning and I was surprised when the receptionist (Kaitlyn I think was her name and she was so helpful) told me there was an opening at 3pm. The front desk staff was friendly and I noticed while waiting they greeted every person who walked in the door. The wait time to be taken back to the exam room was not long. Dr. Blackburn has an excellent bedside manner and answered all my questions. Both Dr. Blackburn and her assistant (Victoria) made me feel comfortable. I finally found a vet who I feel like I can trust and is knowledgeable! I will definitely bring Dexter back to AMH!

I brought my 3 month old puppy here after learning he had the Parvovirus. As most people know it’s very serious and can be deadly if not treated. The staff at this animal hospital were so so amazing. The let me visit and call each day to get an update on his health. He is now home and well, I cannot thank them enough for all they did for him.

Last night I took my very sick dog into the emergency clinic. They started checking me in but realized that my dog was in distress, they dropped everything and took her back. My dog was having congestive heart failure. They kept her calm and on oxygen until I could go back and say bye to her. I stayed while they put her to sleep and they were so loving and compassionate and caring to me and my dog. I left with a paw print of Mia that they made for me. So sweet and kind of them! I would highly recommend them if your dog is having a medical emergency.

This vet is AMAZING!!!!! I will be making this our regular vet , dr grey is phenomenal I recently moved to Charlotte from Pennsylvania . My cat Pepper had gone to the emergency vet 2 times back in my hometown for asthma attacks & was diagnosed with asthma ! I did lots of testing back home like 1 thousand dollars worth Today I went to dr grey to get pepper treated for asthma & she was very reasonable ! I told her I was worried about Cost & she created an amazing plan for me to reduce asthma triggers at home (like start using a special kind of litter and litter box) and no windows open etc. and put pepper on steroids to reduce inflammation! Just for a short period of time to see how he does , she also made sure it was liquid since pepper doesn’t take to pills. No inhaler yet unless it continues after changing environment & steroids ! My visit was $60 totally reasonable (not including steroids) She was also very nice ! Amazing experience pepper is on the mend! I’m so grateful they were so reasonable & didn’t push to do testing again and that pepper won’t suffer

My smallest, yet 50 lb baby was in horrible shape. Not eating, barely drinking, and I had no idea what was going on. I brought him in, in the middle of the night after a seizure. Everyone there, Kea at the front desk and Dr. Thomas who was there that night, helped keep me calm and explained everything as best they could, with no tests done. Even when it was harsh information they were delivering, I felt like they actually cared about how I was feeling. They worked with me as much as possible with his care, and the cost surrounding it. I will definitely be using this facility again.

Dr Lipsett is the best vet I have ever been to. Our cat loves her! He was adopted from animal control and we received a voucher to this hospital. We’ve had such a great experience I will be taking my other 2 cats to her in the future. The staff is very friendly and take the time to answer our questions. Our pets are our family and they provide the quality of care and compassion I want for them. It’s easy to get appointments and comforting they are open 24hrs for emergencies. The vet is so knowledgeable in not only medical issues but also in animal behavior which is very important to me. About 4 months ago (Mid-February 2017), my current cat was in the office to see Dr. Hathaway because she wasn't feeling well and after doing some lab tests and a physical exam, my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. Since then we have only seen Dr. Hathaway who has done an excellent job answering all my questions as I now have to give my cat insulin shots 2x/day. Dr. Hathaway was amazing explaining the new diet she would need to be on, why the diet was so important to her longer-term management of the diabetes. As well as making sure I felt comfortable learning to give the shots to my little baby. Since the diagnosis Dr. Hathaway has seen my cat regularly for blood work (day-long blood sugar monitoring) to make sure the insulin dosage was correct and after all her blood work is done, Dr. Hathaway personally calls me to let me know the results and to answer any questions I have and to check on the behavior of my cat since she was last at the office. My cat was not use to only eating 2 meals a day and having to wait 12 hours in between, she normally was able to snack and eat from her bowl through out the day. Thanks thanks to Dr. Hathaway's referral my cat is even able to have treats. Dr. Hathaway was able to help me manage the crazy antics my cat was pulling in an effort to get more food. Now, today she is only a half pound from her goal weight. Every time I've taken my cat in the vet tech assisting Dr. Hathaway, has always been very kind and gentle, and attentive while I had any questions or was concerned about another area of my cat's health. This is the standard I've known and love about AMH. They are very consistent with their quality of care, cleanliness, outstanding staff from check-in through check-out, and I know they take good care of my cat and they have her health in mind at the forefront of their practice. This has been my family's vet since 2003 or 2004 and with the host of animals (my mom fostered some cats for several years) that we have taken to AMH the staff was absolutely remarkable. We've seen a number of the doctors they have on staff including Dr. Kerri Blackburn, Dr. Bridget Andersen, Dr. Sandy Tisdelle, Dr. Ashley Gray, and Dr. Lauren Hathaway. Every time I have been to AMH, the front staff and vet techs are always courteous, professional and considerate. I've recommended AMH to several friends when their pets have been sick, or needed a new vet. They have always thanked me for the referral and said how well their experience was.

Dr. Lipsett and her team are extremely compassionate and caring. I had taken my pup Hudson to two other vets to figure out what was going on with him with no answers or help in trying to cease his GI symptoms of 4 weeks which was taking a toll on him. My cat recently went through a traumatizing experience and has gotten terrified from little things that used to not bother her. I had to basically lock her in my closet to keep her contained and to try to make her feel safe. I’m not used to handling a cats behavior like this and I didn’t know where to turn. Calling this animal hospital put my mind at such ease, the woman I spoke to was very informative and although I am not a client here she spent 15 minutes on the phone with me trying to help the best she could. Words can not express how much I love AMH. Not just for my most recent visit, but a couple of months ago they saved (IMO) one of my fur babies lives. I took him in to AMH because he was so very ill and the doctors listened and consulted among each other to determine the best course of action for him. They were patient with my multiple questions and showed such compassion to me and my baby. There are no words and I will be forever grateful to the staff and I am pleased to say as of today my baby boy is still doing great thanks to his great care. For my most recent visit I would like to add to all fur baby parents out there, if you do not get your fur babies teeth cleaned, please reconsider. It is so important. Imagine how you would feel if you went years without brushing.

Animal Medical Hospital is AMAZING! I had trouble with overnight boarding facilities in the past and then I found AMH! The staff is amazing! They remember the dogs each time I bring them in and give them lots of love and attention. I know my dogs enjoy being there and come home happy and healthy each and every time! For emergency only, dr goode I can recommend but do not use this place for any follow up whatsoever. Another Vet misdiagnosed a relapse of serious issue last week, I called for them to add antibiotic today since not improving in which she should have had with the steroid to begin with! Vet admitted she wasnt familiar with the condition but would consult with another one - well you got it wrong! No one called back after 2 messages so I went to another vet who gave me the antibiotic! Hoping she will survive. And even tho spent over $1300 asked to make a payment last week with over a $100 visit told no payments due at visit.

Dr. Erin Thomas was amazing when I brought my beloved kitty, Ella, here. Ella had a stroke that she did not survive. The professionalism, kindness, and empathy that Dr. Thomas showed was exactly what I needed. She also was very willing to answer questions I had after I left and was very considerate of my concerns. She is the best veterinarian I have experienced... I would recommend her to anyone!!! The reason I gave 4 stars is that the front desk staff could be friendlier and more personable. I was also mailed a sympathy card and laminated paw prints of Ella - which I love!! It was such a thoughtful gesture to remember an animal I loved so dearly. Dr. Goode is awesome! She examined my sphynx kitten that had just flown in from the Dominican Republic. I was worried about her after such a long trip. Dr. Goode was so kind and really made me feel so much better after examining my kitten and talking with me about all of my kitten's needs. Jessica and Victoria at the front desk were also super nice. I am always amazed and so appreciative of the wonderful treatment and expertise of the entire staff at Animal Medical Hospital! We rescued a young cat from severely cold temperatures and have had no responses from any owner. After sheltering her for a few days, we took her to your facility yesterday and had the gamut of tests and vaccinations done. There was a precious young lady at the desk who was so good to us, with a very upbeat manner, but I failed to get her name. Then, wonderful Dr. Schoenig and her great assistant, Alexis, spent a good while taking care of the kitty. This place is horrible, I took my kitten here for antibiotics from an infection he has from a neuter job went wrong. He has a huge access. They charged 200.00 to look at him. When I could not pay the outlandish price, they took his medication, which he must have in order to get better. Totally evil. My cat will probably die now. Thanks for killing my cat. What I would have spent on a real vet, I gave to you leeches.

**Update two months later: Down to two stars (was four). They say they will call back but never do. Have to be on their backs to get anything done. They were prohibitively expensive for meds so we transferred to an online pharmacy. Took the hospital close to a week to validate the prescription so I had to buy ridiculously over priced refills from the hospital til they were able to ship the prescription from online. Great that their there 24 hours for emergencies, but not to be used as a regular vet as their prices are severely overinflated. Great service but expensive. Very nice facility, clean and 24/7 in case of emergency.. probably why it's so expensive. But even if just going in for a check up was near $500

Misdiagnosed my kitten. Made me spend copious amounts of money on medicine that he didnt even need nor did it benefit him in anyway. He has a more fatal issue than what they initially thought. He has asthma and now they want to charge me close to 400$ for a treatment that they should have given him in the FIRST PLACE. to all the animal mommy's and daddys out there- I beg you. Go elsewhere. Go to an animal hospital where they dont take advantage of the owners and misdiagnose pets with a less severe issue than what they actually have. Go to a place where they actually know what they're talking about and dont put your animals life at risk. Its pitiful. I put my animals life in their hands and they could have been the reason he died. I demand a refund!!!! This is ridiculous. If I have to make another review calling my specific doctor out I 100% will. This is ridiculous! I just want the best help for my little boy but this hospital is not going to provide that. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. Way too overpriced!! After a few calls i found places that were much more reasonable and had better ratings. They insisted I report this incident, and you better believe I will. I will not stop until I 1. Get a refund, or 2. They go out of business so this doesnt happen to anyone else. I love animals way too much to even wish this upon another innocent baby and owner. It's too stressful and from the looks of it they are known for their terrible service. The other vets I called nearly laughed when I mentioned this hospital, because it's a JOKE. they told me all these stories that past owners had and I only wish they would have reported them or publicized the misconduct that they are prone to doing. Please! I beg of you! Whoever owns this facility--- PLEASE do the right thing. I blame the doctor who misdiagnosed my cat not the owner. Put yourself in my shoes! I trusted this lady to help but she put my babys life at risk. Either fire her or give me a refund. I've heard other horror stories about her misdiagnosing other pets from the vets I called. I'm sure she isnt a bad person, shes just oblivious when it comes to the thing that we (customers/patients) rely on her for. Update: they called me and were completely fake with me. They basically called me just so they could publicize tthat they did so. Nothing was ever resolved and I moved to a different vet (which is much better and helped my little boy profoundly) and told them that and she then was "fake nice" and decided to end the call. I recently boarded my 8yr old Shih Tzu for a little over a week. He had 3 walks per day and because he tends to have anxiety being at the vet and is not used to being around a lot of dogs he does not mingle with the rest. With that being said, Danny (who has received Domino for boarding before - and remembered!) took him in once again for boarding. Disclaimer: I will admit I was nervous as our prior visit had been due to an eye ulcer a few months prior. I am happy to say that not only were they able to bathe (he loves baths with me, not so much anyone else) they reported Domino being friendly and well behaved. However, the most interesting and reassuring part is that the ever since the night I picked him up he has wanted to sleep in his crate, downstairs all on his own instead of in my bedroom. In the past I’ve wanted him to do so and he just would not have it but this really indicates to me how safe and happy he was made to feel at night while boarding that he now continues to sleep in there. It’s been 3 days and he is still doing it. I don’t know how long it will last but to me this is a great sign! Thank you to all the staff who so pleasantly greets me each time, is so patient with my millions of questions, but more importantly for treating my doggie so well. It means so much to me that he feels safe there and I can feel confident knowing that he is in good hands and happy even when I’m not there!

We brought our pig there who was attacked by dogs. They dont even see pigs! They came rushing out with a stretcher, outside, and rushed her back. I have been taking my dog here for the last year and seen a couple different doctors. Everyone is very nice and helpful from the front desk staff to the doctors and assistants. I have had my fair share of vet hospitals that rake you over the coals with the prices and I have not found a better place as far as price goes. The doctors even tell you how you can get certain products for cheaper than they sell at the hospital! Plus they price match! They are not trying to take advantage of you. I'm very impressed and highly recommend this animal hospital!

These are some of the most caring and thoughtful people in the entire world. We rescued a kitten earlier who was thrown out of a car. He had fleas and would not mix with our existing animals. We were trying to find someone to take him, a friend or animal control. We called everyone from 311 (who didn't answer) to non emergency dispatch (who told us they may, or may not, make it out tonight. Didn't know when or if or how) to 3 other after hour gets til we reached them. They listened to me, waited on the phone, and actually looked for a solution. I'm a first time pet owner. I searched around for an emergency vet late night after my 5lb dog took a fall and started limping. I was giving advice on what to do over the phone. I liked the fact that they didn't sound money hungry like some of the other clinics I called previously. I scheduled an appointment with the hospital for the following morning. Friendly staff greeted me and my pet. We were taken into an exam room within minutes. The doctor took her time doing the exam and explained in detail her findings and concerns. We mapped out a plan and my dog will be a long time patient of this place!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place!!!

This place has ZERO compassion for pet owners. After they told my daughter they couldn’t help her save her cat, I called the following day to explain her situation. They remembered my daughter from the precious day. I explained to them her very sensitive situation. I told them that I would be willing to back any payment plan to help save the cat. The lady said, “ let me check with them” while placing me on a quick hold. She quickly comes back to tell me , “sorry they can’t help”. I’m far from naive and know theres no way she actually put me on hold & came back that quick to say theres no help. As a result of them being so COLD the cat died. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. One of my friends recommended we contact Long Animal Hospital and we did. They were exceptionally compassionate and helpful unlike this place.

Dr. Blackburn was great as for the rest of the staff they made me feel like my dog and I were more of an inconvenience and annoyance. The front desk girl never even bothered to make eye contact with me when I was trying to get my dog set up for services. She stayed glued to the computer. I just adopted a dog from the Humane Society so I've been very excited and this place just felt cold and uncaring. As a first time dog owner this place was not helpful and made me nervous about the care my dog would receive. I ended up taking my dog to Compassionate Care Vet in Matthews where they made my dog feel like he was the worlds best dog from the moment we walked in. They went above and beyond to make my dog feel comfortable which put me at ease. They spent more than enough time making sure all my questions were answered. They even called me the next day to check in on him. Animal Medical hospital made me feel like a number on a conveyer belt with no genuine feeling.

My best friend has used this clinic for years, against my advice. She like the care that her dog recieves but its breaking her PURSE! SHe now has a new dog and still comes here---BUT the upcoming Spay has been quoted to her as being around $450.00!!!!! Let me say this, I advised her to go where I take my pets for the very SAME PROCEDURE mind you. The cost will be $65.00 and I asssure you she will be well taken care of. This angers me! You people at this "clinic" have been and you continue to take full advantage of the affection us humans have for our furry ones. Although they were very sweet and kind I really feel like all they care about is the money. I brought my dog in after she was attacked by another dog and they said she would die if she didn’t get surgery and the surgery cost 2,569 bucks. Who has that kind of money sitting around and they wanted half of that in order to do the surgery so since I didn’t have the money the only option was for them to put her to sleep. If you don’t have the money right then and there then I advise you not to take your animal there because most likely only way your waking out with your pet is if you give them money.

My 13 lb toy Aussie got bit multiple times by a copperhead snake last week and we rushed her here to get her treated because of their 24/7 urgent care. I was very impressed by how quickly they were able to get her in, evaluate her, and begin treatment. The vets called and updated me at the end of their shifts several times every day like they promised. Although it was very expensive, I can't thank them enough for their prompt care and expertise that saved my dog's life! She is finally on the road to recovery after we weren't sure if she'd be able to pull through for a day or two. Thank you!

An expensive vet but they also have credit options for those who are elligable. You can't put a price on the 24 hour care that they provide. They are so kind, compassionate and loving to animals. They've taken great care of my little shih poo when he needed to be seen for follow ups after surgery. The staff here was also very kind and compassionate to me and my sweet elderly poodle when it came time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. They offered me options and professional input and made things as easy as they could possibly be in such a hard situation. They gave me as much time and emotional support as I needed when I unfortunately said goodbye to one of my best friends. This was late 2016 but I still wanted to give a big thank you to everyone at AMH as I was just going through my pets' medical records and remembered the wonderful support that they provided.

Do not go here if you like to be nickel and dimed. They charge for the most unnecessary things because all of the veterinarians here need to make quota each month. It's absurd. If you go here make sure you take the time to discuss everything they are "recommending" for your pet. Half the time, you can get it yourself for a fraction of the price. I grew up in Charlotte and have been to plenty of veterinarians in the area, go somewhere else.

I brought my dog in for a dog bite. I asked the doctor specifically if I had not heard from animal control in reference to the other dogs, do I bring my dog back for rabies shot. I informed her my dog have had a rabies shot. I was advised if I bring him back within 24 hours there's no charge for the rabies booster. I called before I drove across town and was told ok and that I could come as a walk in. I brought my dog in and he received the shot and was charged. I asked to have the doctor return my call. I was advised the doctor was working Wednesday and they would have her call me. Of course, no call!

If it were possible for me to give a lower score, I absolutely would. Unfortunately our pup has to have a tooth pulled. Spoke with two different techs and another worker there about prices and if he needed a full dental cleaning (he just turned 1 yr old). When I finally met with Dr.Slusky she quoted me over double what I have previously been told and refused to help unless we spent the outrageous amount she quoted. She showed no sympathy and total disregard as to what I wanted as the pet owner. Completely dissatisfied with the way I was treated here and I am still in shock with the situation. STAY AWAY! While they are smiling it appears they are picking your pocket! My sweet 18 month old cat was taken in Monday night with stomach pain after only one day of lethargy, and probable constipation.They took him away in the carrier, SAID they examined him and Dr.came out and said they wanted to do 3 x-rays costing 300 dollars. I asked why couldn't they just do one of his stomach since he was so small, so she said she also believed he was constipated and maybe they'd just prescribe a laxative and bring him back if no better. We could afford the one $100 x-ray of the stomach. Next thing we know the aide is coming back telling us the doctor changed her mind; no laxative; but would go ahead and put the fluid under his skin to absorb into bowels and cause poop. well when he finally brought him back to me in the carrier, I felt inside and felt no lump of fluid. I had this done to my other cat so I know what it looks and feel like ( No fluid).Even after paying for exam and supposed fluid under skin for over hundred dollars,sadly he died this morning. He could have been saved had money not been the main objective and they had done SOMETHING besides try to make a plan to get money. Even if they had said he is really sick and some how prepared us for the worst it would have been better that just sending him home to die.They see if you are willing to go for broke and if money can be made off you ; and it appears that determines what happens to your furry baby. I only went here because they gave out coupons at the Humane Society. I guess then they needed the new clients, so now that they're a big conglomerate there's no compassion. I hope medical care for humans doesn't end up this way! Spoke to office manager who listened very nonchalantly but I could tell it was a speech she gave to all unhappy customers. She would do her part and tell the clinical person to fix their end.. blah, blah give us money.

Dr. Robert Brady was so kind and compassionate with news we weren't wanting to hear, especially with my 9 year old daughter in the room. He was careful with his words and very sincere. My cat started drooling on a Saturday night and it freaked me out. I tried to just relax and wait till Monday when he could see his regular vet, but it was just something that I couldn't ignore. I called and they got me in with an appointment right away and they were great! It was better than taking him to an emergency clinic where I was going to be charged $99 just to walk into the door. Their prices were reasonable, basically what I would of spent at my own vet. My kitty is now taking some meds and hopefully his drooling will stop.

Very very very unprofessional business! Went in with my puppy Athena 2 weeks ago for excessive itching(dermatitis), and green goo coming out the right eye! Doctor prescribed bravecto for the fleas and dermatitis, and did nothing about the eye. I let her know it was an issue happening for over a month now! She gave it a quick glance continued to say that the eye was a little red but not blood shot if it gets worse just call us back! I paid an office visit plus medication that day for the issues I told her I was having! Now that I call them back and let them know that the issue is still existing and spread to the next eye, they can not find any notes about this issue in the system only the issue they gave a percription for, and they want me to pay another office visit plus medication! I I just don’t have 60$ to keep throwing away after I spent it the first time and the issue wasn’t resolved! I have also spent over 1000 dollars with this establishment in just 3 months. After paying 900$ for a parvo treatment, having another appointments and paying for that as well, so to be told they couldn’t help her without another office visit fee is very unprofessional since they didn’t address the issue correctly the first time! Make sure you get treatment for every issue in your appointment or they will exploit you for more office visit fees the next time!

The vets here are very kind. No doubt your animal will be in good hands but I have spend $1000s of dollars here. I just spent $400 for two annual visits , during normal business hours. Neither of my pets were sick. I have three other pets who will be needing annual visits so I will, unfortunately, be finding another vet to go to who is more responsible in pricing because.. She was wonderful, and managed to get Milo to throw the string up and prescribed a course of medicine to help heal the internal abrasions. Incredible staff. We've taken generations of dogs to Animal Medical for years and have had nothing but great experiences. We also utilize the grooming, boarding and day care facilities frequently. It is so nice to know that your dog is at a facility that staffs great vets 24 hours. If anything were to ever happen they immediately pull them to the medical side. The boarding and day care staff are amazing. They love our dogs and know them well. On the medical side we see Dr. Bridgette Andersen who we absolutely adore. She is so kind and patient which is saying a lot because we have a very wiggly Pug. We are so pleased to call Animal Medical our dogs only veterinarian. They definitely go above and beyond. Give them a chance if you are looking for great people that truly love your pets.

Took my dog in around 11pm for an emergency. Staff was very friendly and took Gonzo back for exam right away. I was happy to find a place that has care available 24/7. As an update to this review, Gonzo had to have a very extensive surgery and the staff kept me updated throughout the entire process. He is at home now, and recovering nicely thanks to the wonderful folks at animal medical hospital.

I have been a client of Animal Medical Hospital for almost 10 years now. I had an animal emergency 9 years ago, and had to make a very late night visit - they were one of the only animal hospitals open. Unfortunately, I lost my precious little cat. The staff treated me so compassionately in how they cared for my cat and me as well. They sent me a beautiful sympathy card and little paw print decoration, and even made a donation on behalf of my pet to a University Veterinarian Department. That was such a thoughtful and compassionate thing to do, that I immediately began taking all of my animals there, and made them my regular animal hospital. That was 9 years ago, and I don't regret the decision. The entire staff there, from the front desk representatives, to the Vet techs and Veterinarians are all so very nice and give the best care. Everyone there is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend everyone make Animal Medical Hospital their primary care facility for all of your precious pets. They are the greatest!

Brought my cat Rambo in on a Sunday for a same day appointment. They were very accommodating though we'd never been there before. Little to no wait once we arrived. They were very friendly. They even offered a pheromone laced towel to put over his cage to keep him calm while we waited. Did not push me to spend money on unnecessary procedures but gave me the information to make my own decision. This facility was amazing. My dog was attacked by another dog and I had to rush her in there right after it happened. This was the day after it snowed and I was praying they were open. I called ahead and they were expecting me. They took my dog back right away and tended to her injuries. She had a broken leg and puncture wounds, they were able to splint it and refer me to another animal hospital for the surgery that same day. The doctor called a week later to check on Carly and that made me very happy. I was a wreck and they were just wonderful informing me of what was going on and taking care of my dog. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend them.

I am acknowledge even if the front desk person is waiting on a client. They remember the animals name. The Doctor and assistant is always helpful and informational. The Groomers are wonderful. I chose Animal Medical Hospital because of their 5 star rating and reputation. My puppy is 12 weeks with a minor knee fracture and I have wasted time, money and gas putting the care of my animal in their hands. I didn’t mind the price because I assumed that the service would be excellent but it is not. Seems like they only care about making money. I go in atleast 2-3 times per week to get the cast reapplied because they poorly put it on. Each time is an additional $125. I have spent over $400 for them to put his split back on. Their prices are absolutely ridiculous for a 13 pound puppy. This afternoon I went to Carolina Veterinary Specialists where the cost is much more affordable and service seems to be better!! For example, sedation at Animal Medical Hospital is $100, at Carolina Veterinary Specialists it’s $20 :)

I chose Animal Medical Hospital for my new kitten 7 months ago. They have been fantastic ever since. On his first visit, they took a picture of him and put it in the system with his name so that every time we come in, the staff seems to remember him. The receptionists are so welcoming and put him immediately at ease. My favorite part of the vet is their hours. I work late hours occasionally so I really appreciate being able to make appointments at 7:30 and 8 pm. Today I walked in at 7 am with no appointment for grooming and they took him in right away! I had been trying to go to Petsmart for weeks, but they only have a cat groomer M-W mornings (which is a terrible time). They may be a bit more expensive than other vets, but the peace of mind, for me, is worth it. If he has an emergency in the middle of the night, I like that I can take him our vet who has all of his records. They re also very open about their prices- call and ask them about them before you go if you re worried about them.

I am updating my review because I like this place and I want them to do the right thing! As always, friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide a high quality service. Personally I happily pay for their Expensive rates because they provide a decent service and I don’t want to put a price on that! BUT... I do put a price on the products/meds they sell! They tried to sell me a medicine for $40 dollars and I refused. Bought the exact same thing at CVS for $13.77! This is wrong in so many levels! Why do you rip me off like that? I would pay 20% higher than the “true” price just for convenience to buy it right away...but more than 150% profit for the med is nonsense! It just destroys my trust to you that everything is Extremely overpriced!

We got our new puppy on Thursday evening from the Charlotte Animal Control Shelter. Although he got a clean bill of health while he was there, he came down with kennel cough a few days later. We were able to make an appt on Sunday, and received really great care while we were there. They were patient with his anxiety, and were able to diagnose him and get us the meds we needed. Will definitely go back when it's time for more shots. Thanks so much for helping him feel better, Dr. Brown!

Thomas. very friendly and very helpful. told me how and what to do and what to look for. they helped me with my cat. he has a really swollen foot. they gave the kitty antibiotics and some pain meds. just a punchier wound so it will heal thank god. thanks for all ur help. to the drs. and nurses thanks for dedicating ur services on easter.

I recently came to AMH and saw Dr. Tarantino. My partner and I had a very challenging couple of situations with one of our older miniature pinschers that, ultimately, had a sad ending. Throughout the entire process, we were always well informed of the options we had, all of the pricing ahead of time, and our time was respected. On top of that, the care and compassion we received from the staff (especially Dr. Tarantino and the staff who cared for our pet in the hospital) was the most valuable part of our time there. I look forward to bringing my other two pups to meet everyone soon!

I had to go to a vet on a sunday for my little dog who was having trouble with her legs. The doctor quickly was able to diagnose her problem and offered several treatment options. I never felt pressured to do any procedure but still felt an X-ray was the best option. The doctor called me promptly when I left to give me the X-ray results and offered more advice. They did a wonderful job and I hope my dog feels better.

I can not express the level of gratefulness I have for this facility and it’s vets and assistants. I took my cat here Friday due to have a urinary blockage. They rushed him and made him a priority. Within a few minutes I had a vet asking me questions and then was immediately put into a room. Unfortunately they had to keep him for a few days but I know that I made the best choice in taking him here. I was so worried and scared but they were so nice and comforting and genuinely meant t when they told me to call when ever I want and how ever much I need to, to check on him. Over the 3 days he was there I called several times and all but one time, I believe the vet assistants were able to transfer me to one of the ICU veterinarians to speak to them directly. Like where else does that happen??? Seriously they were amazing. I went to visit him yesterday and the current vet working spent an extended period of time talking to us and exhaling to us the care that they were giving him. I wish I could remember all of their names, but don’t. The first girl I spoke with was awesome and then a few of the veterinarians that cared for him that I know the names of were Dr. Gerard, and Dr. Havill. You can really tell that everyone here honestly cares about your animal and cares about you. I could go on and on about them for hours, but anyways I am so happy with the care and service I received. Even with it being a 30 min drive I will not take my furr babies any where else. Thanks everyone!!!!!

Reading these other reviews makes me question who they paid to write that. We all know where they are getting there endless supply of money from.... the customers they take advantage of. Need to make sure they are teaching wash hands after taking a smoke break.Disturbing. I guess the late night staff has more leniency.

This place is very unprofessional and caused us to lose a puppy with no help nor medication to help her labor.. we had successfully delivered three puppies and had trouble on the 4th Called them they told us to wait 4 hours to bring her in I insisted it’s been 2 they said they would not see us until 4 hours had passed.. when we did arrive there was nothing done but pull out the 4th puppy ou and did not revive it but charged ya.. then sent us home to run into the same problem .. we then went to another er vet who said the it was completely ubsurd the treatment there and there is no way we should have been sent home.. they charged us 300 for a bowl of water and tums .. I do not recommend this practice to anyone .

Although the place was clean and the staff was friendly and they got me right in for my pets problem I felt like they were more concerned about money than my cats well-being. I had to have my pet spend the night to put a catheter in and drain the bladder due to a blockage. I got the phone call that every pet owner dreads which was the your pet is worse than when you brought it in. During the call all I heard was the word financial five times. I felt like they knew my pet was as good as dead but we want to make sure you pay is! I had already given them more money than I could afford. I walked out of there paying over $2000 and I walked out of there without my pet. I’m not going here anymore.

I've been in contact with several doctors over the past few months, because my kitty has had some health issues and each doctor has gone above & beyond to make sure she is healthy again. My nephew and niece-in-law experienced a very tragic fire in their condo this past weekend and they lost everything in the process. Two of their beloved cats succumbed to the fire immediately and two were transported to this clinic for emergency care. Over the past few days as the clinic was taking care of Google and Luna, the staff has been amazing, and full of compassion and care for their beloved cats. Unfortunately, we lost their wonderful Google on Sunday, and yesterday, sweet Luna lost her epic battle as well. Dr. Helen Wright is our veterinarian, and she was so incredibly kind, gentle with our cat, and knowledgable! She took her time, never rushed through anything, and answered all questions thoroughly. We asked about diet, behavior, and general well-being, and she gave concise, well thought out, and easy to understand answers. Our cat was immediately comfortable with her, and Dr. Wright made it very clear that safety and loving care were her goals. She wanted to bond with our cat, which made us feel like we weren't just a random patient, but rather a close companion. Callie assisted us as well along with Dr. Wright, and she was also very nice. She answered questions, and did her best to make our cat feel at ease in the exam room. She gave treats, and pet our cat, all with a smile on her face and with a warm demeanor. The staff at the front desk were all fantastic as well. Brent checked us in/out, and he was very friendly and welcoming. He made me feel like he was welcoming us to his home, and not just his workplace. I highly recommend this team, especially Dr. Wright!

I was in today because my baby/daredevil got got an infection on her leg after she twisted her harness around it. They worked with me even though I was not in the financial position to do anything past the initial exam. Dr. Andersen is second to none based on her expertise and patience caring for animals who can be at times difficult to work with. When you have multiple cats, over the years, many different health issues need to be addressed. That is when Dr.Andersen's expertise shines through!

I had an emergency when my dog had one of his eyes popped out the socket. The tell me that I had 2 options. One, it will cost me $1500+ for surgery to have the eye removed. Two, put him down. This is a dog that have so much life left in him. Malpractice is what I call it. After giving him painkiller and an e-collar they charged $101. My dog suffered for the weekend until I could have gotten him to his vet. His vet said that it was a 15 minute surgery and should not have cost what they quoted. As a matter of fact the surgery cost under $500 with my vet. Hopefully you do not have an emergency with your beloved pets after hours. They got one star because I have no other option. I would have sued them if my dog had passed away this past weekend. With all this said the staff that I encountered were ok.

My wife and I brought our very sick cat in not long ago, the staff was excellent and very informative. Unfortunately he did not survive and we brought him back to be put to sleep. It was devastating to us, but once again the staff was beyond wonderful with our cat and with us.
