After relocating to Asheville with my senior Dachshund, she was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. :( She's almost 15 years old and I've had her since she was 6 weeks old, so she is my BABY and I wanted to get her the best care. I tried a different vet and their communication about the expensive tests (and medicine) Tootsie needed was awful. I would pay $230+ getting her levels checked and nobody would return my calls for a week. Even if I called them everyday! I switched vets based on reviews to Animal Hospital South and am SO glad I did. The first visit was a free "Meet and Greet" and Dr. Valeika spent quite a bit of time hearing my concerns. Dr. Valeika is WONDERFUL!! He's called me personally several times to discuss Tootsie's care and her medicines. He got her on a better dose, and even worked with a local compounding pharmacy to get her dose special-made, and keep the costs as low as possible. Tootsie loves going to this vet...she bounces right in the door. Unfortunately I have to move back to TN in a couple weeks. I soooo wish we could keep this vet...but when we come in town, if Tootsie needs care, I'll be taking her here. They've been outstanding and very understanding of how much I love my Dachshund. Also, Dr. Valeika has saved me tons of money in future tests for Tootsie's Cushing's Disease, because his suggestion of dosing twice per day vs. once per day did the trick. Thank you Dr. Valeika!

Great vet office. Very helpful and extremely efficient. One vet is very knowledgable with our dogs' issues. The other doesn't own a dog, so he seems to guess on some issues, but he's still helpful. Great staff and a happy place to be.

This vet worked us in immediately for our first visit, as it was an emergency. Then clearly the doctor took it upon himself to study our cat's records once they arrived because at her next visit he informed us that the treatment our former vet had recommended would have killed her. I finally feel like our cat's are in the hands of caring, competent professionals. They have my cat's life! Also the staff are very courteous and helpful.

Always on a budget, had car issues coming into an appointment, ask lots of questions, etc and they have been nothing but amazing to me.
