I've been with this vet for 5 years now. They are awesome, especially since they have a new vet. All of the techs know my pooches and they are always super friendly. We have used them for emergencies, basic care, and boarding; they are always great, especially when one of our pups had to undergo heartworm treatment. Even though we have recently moved an hour away, we will continue to remain with this vet.

The staff took very good care of my dog's needs and were very friendly. I was only living there temporarily, but had I stayed permanently, I would have continued to used them. Prices were very reasonable. The only complaint was that once I left, I misplaced my dog's paperwork and had a lot of trouble getting them to fax the complete file to my pet insurance so it could take effect before his next physical. I only hope his new vet will be able to get the paperwork he needs so my dog does not have to start all over again as if he has never been treated by a vet, and he can fax my pet's insurance company so his policy can get started for future doctor visits. I still give them 5 stars.

This place is terrible. Took my dog here and they told me he couldn’t be treated. They took him to the back who knows where to try to give him a shot or whatever they were doing and supposedly tried biting them. I can’t say because I wasn’t there to see it and from my experience he has never bit anyone especially with me having a one year old. Felt weird and uncomfortable. He has had a rabies shot at cross creek hospital and it was no issue. Beware.

When Dr. Dana Lehr was there it was a more intimate and compassionate environment. Since being taken over by the reilly rd animal hospital their only bottom line is $, not the quality of compassionate care. Dr. Lehr would never have turned me and my dogs away if i couldnt pay right away, he would work with you. Ive gone to academy for over 15 years and Dr. Lehr is the best and will always be. No pet or pet owner should be denied the care they deserve. They dont care about the pets or owners, their only concern is $. Sad really. As a vet if your only bottom line is money you are in the WRONG profession.

I had never heard of them until I needed a place to take my pound puppy - but I am so HAPPY I tried the Academy Pet Hospital! The staff is wonderful - they are friendly, consciences, caring and very affordable. I recommend them to everyone. Not only do I use them vaccinations, meds, toenail clipping - but also for boarding (and I have never had any complaints :) )

My experience with the academy pet hospital was quite well my little girl was treated with respect and given the best treatment possible and they showed that they really were concerned and caring they gave her her vaccinations and they also gave her her meds and they took excellent care of her and it was not expensive it was where I could afford to take her and be comfortable price-wise I thank them again for everything that they did and then we came home and she's doing great

Our dogs have been coming to Pet Academy since 2004. We love the staff, Dr. Lehr, the services and the continued care they have provided for our two dogs Spike and Abby. When our older dog Spike became incontinent instead of putting him to sleep one of the AMAZING staff members adopted him and is continuing to care for him. Being military you don't always have the opportunity to establish long term relationships. We have been truly blessed with being in NC for 12 years!! Dr. Lehr you and your staff ROCK!!

The very first time I went there I had a cat that needed a leg cut off I decided to put my cat down because I didn't have the money for the surgery the doctor told me he would put my cat down but about three weeks later the hospital called me and told me they had found me another cat I went to the hospital to see the cat only to learn it was my cat NAYLA I was so excited the doctor did not charge me one dollar I have been going there every since with all my pets also excellent staff and always very friendly

we have 8 Babys (3 dogs and 5 cats) and go there for a lot of years. Dr Lehr is one of the Best Vets i know, very kind to the animals and have a great hand for cats. I update my review and change it from a 5 star to 1 star ! We have now 9 cats and 3 dogs ! Our Vet Dr.Lehr retired and this place is now ran by different vets. I was more than disappointed and this was for sure my last visit at this place ! We had Dr. Emily Fillman at least that is what the paperwork said! I can not speak for the other vets at this place! This Woman seem not to care about animals, its just a job for her. She came in and not even introduced herself nothing (what is ok she might not be a human person) but if I noticed he/or she treat my baby like an item its over. This was the coldest interaction I ever seen from a vet to my babies ! There is no way that I could trust her with my babies if they would need some serious help ! No complains about the staff, they very friendly and helpful

When we got inside the building, it smelt slightly of animal feces and urine. I was only getting my cats vaccinated, but I would never let my pets have surgery, or stay here, largely due to the smell. It makes me think that it's just not very clean. The staff is not very knowledgeable, and one woman had to wait about 30 mins for them to find her dog, who they kept saying they couldn't find. If someone said that they couldn't find my cat, I would have began freaking out. Just overall not a very comfortable place to being my little loved ones. This is the cheapest place, and you seem to get what you pay for.

I have family dogs and they tend to become aggressive towards new faces this didnt hit me until i came to them for a rabbies shot but they actually handled the situation really good they got them muzzled up and did the shot i paid and was out the door i have no complaints with Academy

This use to be a good veterinarian but the practice was sold a few months ago and the service has drastically declined. The husband and wife team that brought this practice was quick to raise the rates. This place does not deserve one star but I’m sure the great rating that is has is from the previous owner since the name was not changed.

I took my Bella (my puppy...about 11 months?old) in as an emergency she was so so sick...throwing up lost control of bowels lethargic etc...i begged them to save her...they took her in back and ran only one test that was for parvo it was negative they came to me with a printed estimate for test I told them I don't have the money until Friday which was 6 days away...they refused to help her refused a payment plan refused any care for her whatsoever...they put me in a room with her and let me watch her die...when did money become more important then life...as vets u chose this profession because u love animals tell me how u can hear me begging for u to save my baby's life and u do nothing...all I got were apologies for my loss after she died I'm in disbelief at the actions of this place...never take your animals to a place that puts money above life...you guys make me sick I want world to know about your treatment of my baby...that dog was my best friend I lost a part of me when I lost her...you and your practice is despicable

They took excellent care of our cat Gizmo. Without them Gizmo probably would not have been here much longer. The staff was super nice and even called next day after Gizmo's surgery to see how she was doing. Great place!

This office is absolutely amazing. Recently, I have needed help with my sick puppy. They not only got us in the same day, they were fast, supportive, informative, and understanding of my situation. They worked with me and got us set up for my fuzzy baby to have the best chance. I won't take animals anywhere else - these people really care about animals and their parents. I'm not gonna write a book but please take your pets else where I took my toy poodle in and long story short the dr wanted to put my 13 month old puppy under surgery without trying or attempting to take a alternate route so he tells me the surgery will cost me around 2,000 after paying them $200.00 tp do absolutley nothing but a xray i tool him to another get where they told me the surgery was not necessary so I'll agree with all the other 1 star reviews that this place is money hungry because my dog was not in his best interest that good old dollar was!

I've boarded my dog a few times since moving to the area in May and they are extremely reasonable price wise. I won't board him anywhere else. The staff is always so pleasant and they love Stitch. Never had any issues and I trust he's in good hands.

As you may have seen in other reviews it is true that this is a money driven staff... all the good reviews mention a vet that no longer works at this location. My service dog in training was taken to this location for his vaccines and flea and tick meds so naturally we brought him here when he got suddenly ill... the vet scared us into a completely unnecessary and expensive surgery and still charged us full price for the operation... we had an idea the surgery was a money making tactic and wasn’t necessary but we couldn’t risk my service dog’s health! Turns out the surgery was pointless... after the surgery my dog’s scar wasn’t healing properly... but after such an expensive operation I wasn’t gonna bring him back in so I analyzed the scar myself and cut out staples and stitches STILL embedded in my dog’s scar AFTER the vet had taken them out. I did so with cosmetic tools unfortunately. My dog is now healed but no thanks to the extrinsicly motivated vet at this hospital who’s only drive is money. Take your dog somewhere else.
