Dr. Hildenbrand is wonderful, as are all the staff. They've cared for my cats extremely well over the years, even saved the life of one of them when he became very ill. Love them!

jacque cook

I visited this place and found them to be extremely money hungry and all focused on billing - trying to fix my poor sick cat seemed furthest from their mind - all this place cares about is getting as much money from you as possible

Great vets. T won't be cheap but do you really want to be cheap with you pet's health? They really love our two yorkies, you can tell they are passionate about what they do. And though I have never had to take them for anything big, I would only trust them. Totally recommend the place.

The staff are the best! Let alone the doctors are caring, thorough and very capable professionals the rest of the staff are terrific. The staff are on top of everything, they are friendly, kind, professional and genuine. I have two cats and they are well cared for by West VI'll age Veterinary!

Ed Swisher

EVERYONE here is incredibly nice and helpful, just what you need when you're bringing a loved one in for care. Our doctor was great about speaking with us through every step of our cat's care, making sure we understood the issues and were OK with the next steps of treatment. We are grateful for the care West Village Veterinary Hospital has provided us!

They are the nicest staff ever. All of the vets are amazing.

I brought my cat Leon in today for his annual check up and to get him caught up on his vaccines. Dr. Hildenbrand was his vet and was incredibly informative. She took her time to explain everything to me. I didn't feel rushed or pressured to do anything additional that weren't necessary. She had a lot of great advice! Leon will definitely be going back to this hospital to see Dr. Hildenbrand! Thank you!

This clinic is the best in NYC. They are always very nice, very knowledgeable and care very much for the animals they treat. We recently had an issue over the Labor Day holiday and they helped us over the phone by calling the veterinary at their home given they were closed. For a caring facility, they do a wonderful job.

I came in an absolute wreck last December (2013) when my two cats had eaten planted lillies, which I didnt know were extremely poisonous. Never have I experienced such a supportive staff. The vet took time with me and was sensitive while still explaining what was at stake. She took time with me and I never felt rushed. I felt so confident in their services, which helped ease my worries. Since that incident, I have gone back a few times. Each time, I am treated with the same respect, and given the same high quality care and attention. I highly recommend West Village Vet Hospital!

I have been taking my dog (almost 9 years old Boston Terrier) here for the last 5 years. Unfortunately I did not realize the situation before it was too late. For the past 3 years (at least) I would take my dog to see dr. Jones (something like 3 to 5 X a year) . My dog's behavior had been increasingly changing and I was trying to find out what was wrong with her by: TAKING HER TO THE VET. For every complaint I had there was a "look" like I was "overreacting"! I have asked her if she could have Dog Dementia? Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome? Anything that would explain why my dog was not herself. I was made to feel so bad that I started making excuses for her behavior, like telling people "She is getting grumpy with age!" Until she almost bit me, and that's when I realized I was not overreacting and I had enough. This january I called asking for a neuro referral. 1st thing the Neuro told me is that Boston Terriers are prone to have brain tumors and her symptoms were all in accordance to her having a tumor. After a very expensive MRI, I found out she has a slow growing glioma, that by now is way too big to have any kind of treatment done. All the treatment options are too risky and expensive. So, next time you see a Vet, make sure he/she is actually considering the years you've spent with your dog and taking into account what you tell them, instead of making you feel there's something wrong with you. I can not express how much it hurts to know I could have done something to help my dog if I was better assisted by Dr. Jones. Now I have waisted so much money seeking help, only to be made to fell stupid. Don't let that happen to you!

Loved Lucy O’Byrne and am so sorry she left (she had a baby). I wish that the people at the front desk were as friendly as the people they replaced. We lost. Our Ruffy who was living thanks to Dr O’Byrne. I wanted her to know. My husband says he can’t go through it again. I want a new fur baby although I’ll never forget our Ruffy.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Lee and the staff at West Village Veterinary Hospital. They helped my cat - and me - during the cat's terminal illness. Dr. Lee did everything she could to help make my cat comfortable and calm, from diagnosis thru palliative care, right up to the very end. Her compassion, kindness, skills -- helped us get through an awful time.. The practice is clean, well-run, with smart and caring staff and doctors. I highly recommend West Village Veterinary Hospital.

I own a wonderful therapy dog, who is an Australian Labradoodle named Paz. On a Saturday evening, I noticed a lump on Paz's side, and literally went into a tailspin. I called West Vjillage Vet. Hospital on Sunday morning and they made arrangements for me to bring Paz that afternoon to their hospital. I saw Dr. Smith; his professional demeanor and compassion made me feel confident that Paz was in good hands. Fortunately the outcome was good and Paz is fine. Dr. Smith and the entire West Village Vet Hospital staff were just wonderful and I will be returning for all of Paz's care. I highly recommend West Village Vet Hospital for all animal lovers seeking the best, most compassionate care for their beloved pets.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The doctors, the technicians, the administrative staff...They are all wonderful. They are all kind, compassionate, and easy to talk to. The care is of the highest quality. They make themselves very accessible and the entire facility is spanking clean and smells great!

Absolutely amazing service. Had an emergency with my cat and they were very helpful. Came in filled out a document and than was seen shortly. The vet was very patient, understanding and caring with both me and Rosie. The assistants were amazing as well and very eager to help me. Thank you to everyone that helped us today, I would highly recommend this veterinary clinic to everyone.

Dr. Hildenbrand is such a great doctor. Actually every Dr and nurse we've seen have all been amazing to my cat Leon. Hospital is clean and the staff are very friendly. Luckily we have Nationwide pet insurance so cost isn't a major factor. But with that aside, the vets have all been great and never once recommended anything unnecessary. We buy all of Leon's prescription food with them as well and he loves it! Thank you WVVH!

This is an absolutely fabulous veterinary practice! My Japanese Chin, Boo, had his neutering here and now visits here for normal routine care now that we have moved from Battery Park City (we went to the BPC location before). The vets here are warm and caring, both towards pets and people! I wouldn't take Boo anywhere else. It is also especially convenient that this vet has Saturday appointments!

Though I believe that the veterinarians have the best intentions, I was not a fan of being charged for a second consultation for an issue that was overlooked on our first visit. On our first visit, an ear issue was not paid close attention to and over two days the issue got worse. I called to see the vet, but she was not available so they scheduled me with a different vet. She did not do a scrape of the ears because she was afraid of my dog's ears bleeding, which is understandable, but I think we could have found out a little more with a minor scraping. When I left to pay for our second visit, I was charged the full consultation fee plus the meds. In two days, I paid $300 to see two different vets and to get the medication. Fast forward to me getting my dog groomed a week later (ear issue still not resolved) and the groomer took off the scabs. No bleeding. Dog's ear issues are resolving. I should have told the young lady at the desk not to charge me for my second visit since it was overlooked on the first visit, but I was in a hurry and I did not want to argue. I really did not appreciate being double charged for an issue that should have been addressed on our first visit. The first vet seemed to be in a hurry to go on vacation and kept calling my dog a she when he is male. I am all about attention to detail and while the facility is very clean, and I think that the vets do care genuinely care for animals, I am on the fence about whether I would take my dog back. Also, one of the young women behind the desk told me that my dog's blood work came back negative, however we did not have blood work done. I informed the woman that we did not have blood work done and she repeated the results to me. I then told her again that we did not have blood work done and she then realized that she was talking to the wrong pet owner. She seemed unfazed by the fact that she was divulging information to the wrong clients. She also thought that Spain was part of the UK, but that's a whole other story. Overall, unfortunately, I don't think that we had the best experience. I really wanted this to be our NYC veterinary care facility, but I think we will have to go elsewhere, especially if we are being charged double for issues that should have been addressed in the first visit.

We have been going to W.V. Vet with our labrador retriever for the past two years and we have loved it! The entire staff is so helpful and warm - and also knowledgable. They also do an excellent job of keeping our dog (and us!) calm no matter what is going on. We have gone there for basic appointments like vaccinations, but also when there have been serious issues - and I always feel so at ease and I feel as though I am in such capable hands. Thank you W.V. Vet!

Jordan Sternberg

I took in homeless puppy from Italy this summer and brought him to NYC. The nice people at WV VET hospital helped me translate all my Italian paperwork, and continued his other vaccinations. They've been sweet and helpful, and for a first time dog owner, very comforting to know they are there to help and keep my dog healthy! He also loves it there and tries to go in every time we pass by. Highly recommended!

Excellent vet! We've used West Village Veterinary Hospital for the past 2.5 years for our dog and the vets and staff have always been so welcoming, thorough and kind - they provide top quality care and are always looking out for the best interest of our dog. They're always willing to squeeze us in for last-minute appointments and emergencies, too. Great place!

Andrea Barrett

Truly caring, compassionate and helpful veterinarians, assistants and desk staff. My pets have been under their care for many years. My only quibble is the turnover among the veterinarians. There was just one veterinarian I saw twice before she moved on. The others just once. Nonetheless I wouldn't think of taking my pets anywhere else. UPDATE: A happy client of WVVH recently referred me to Dr. Hildenbrand re. problems with my elderly cat. I am so pleased with this veterinarian--her knowledge, her careful diagnosis, her follow up, her bedside manner with kitty and parent. I so hope she stays with this practice.

We took our first dog in Ellie for a vet check up. The vet was very knowledgable and helped answer all of our questions. From the reception to the nurses and the vet they were all so nice to deal with. Ellie will be back soon for her next shot! Would totally recommend.

We had a horrible experience here. They seemed more concerned with making money off us than helping our beloved and elderly dog. They suggested surgery before even trying antibiotics, and refused to provide basic services without high costs. Try Greenwich Village Animal Hospital instead. We appreciated our neighbors who shared that suggestion with me, so are passing the word.

I have been to several vets in Manhattan and I would day this place is my favorite. they are a bit corporate, but in this case, it works to your advantage, they are friendly and caring, they don't try to sell you on stuff you don't need. (OK, they promote the dental cleaning, but all vets do that. these guys aren't overly pushy about it). The prices here are competitive with other vets in the area, and I can almost always get an appt same day or close. My vet there helped me to save money on Winnie's allergy meds by suggesting a liquid formula..I appreciated the info and it was cheaper (Atopica) In the end it was more work, so I went back to capsules (pure laziness) But that's how nice she was!

Daniel Suh

Friendly and competent staff and doctor. Vet takes time to understand your concerns and answers all questions thoroughly. Quite pricey, but well worth it for the comfort of a healthy pet!

Dr. Jill Elliott is an extraordinary vet, and I am forever grateful for her help with my dog! Two weeks ago, my 9.5 year old dog Comet was admitted in an ER in NJ with what seemed like a herniated disc. I was told he needed immediate surgery, which I could not afford, and that he would most likely never walk again on his own. He came home from a 3-day stay at the hospital drugged up, unable to move, having lost control of his legs, and leaking pee/poop non-stop. He was in such bad shape I thought we would have to say goodbye. But just one visit with Dr. Elliott (which involved two laser and one chiropractic treatments) changed everything! Comet regained control of his bowels on day 1. He began moving on day 2. He started eating again on day 3. He regained control of his urination on day 4. He walked with help on day 5. On day 8, we did a second series of treatments, and my dog walked out of the vet clinic on his four paws, without me supporting his back! On day 9, he was able to start trotting and tried running. Comet feels so good he "smiles" all the time! Dr. Elliott saved my beloved pet. Quickly. Painlessly. And in a very caring way. And at an affordable price. I cannot thank you enough, Dr. Elliott, for what you did for Comet!

There are no words to describe how amazing Dr. O'Byrne is as a person, a veterinarian and a hospital administrator. Both of my dogs have gone to WVW since birth, I have recommended it to everyone I know and they thank me. Dr. O'Byrne runs a tight ship and only has the best nurses and staff. I had a dog who lived to almost 16 when WVW said I'd be lucky if he made it to 8. Her vigilance in proactively identifying and treating three major diseases including cancer were extraordinary. She always told it to me straight, she believed he'd pull through and he did each time and died of natural causes. When we agreed that being at the hospital made him anxious as he'd spent so much time there, she agreed when it came to putting him down (and he was seizuring and it was a holiday weekend) she came to my house and we cried together. She is the first to escalate a case if Blue Pearl is needed and she'll tell you just who to do the surgery. She is an excellent dentist and the kindest and most pragmatic of doctors. It may cost more though if you want the best care, it is the best place to get it. Also, having spent many a night in the ICU, it is spotlessly clean and everyone truly loves and is attentive to patients. I would trust her and her staff with any medical situation. Tammy Sachs

Great people and service. Expensive but worth it.

Even though our cat was very badly behaved, the staff here are wonderful. We are a huge fan of their "no fear" policy, as our cat is easily stressed and has heart problems. Highly recommend!

Not enough great things to say about Dr. Hildenbrandt and the rest of the staff here. I had a scary emergency with my pup yesterday, I'm also 8 months pregnant, so I was having a little meltdown in the office. They talked through all options with me to get my fur baby healthy again, took such amazing care of her for the hours I was in there, and helped me feel better/calm down as my hormones were rampant throughout the entire process. She was super understanding and compassionate. The nursing and front desk staff were wonderful as well. We had our follow up visit today which went perfectly and we have another tomorrow until we're officially out of the (scary) woods! This was my Stella's secondary vet but decided to rush her here as it was closer to my office, best decision I made and I will be switching to make this her primary from here on out. Very grateful for the love they showed my girl and for them understanding how important she is to me.

Friendly, compassionate, talk-to-you care for your pet. My vet recently moved here from Brooklyn, and while following HER was the point, the whole place is lovely.

Caring people and great service. A little pricey but worth the respect and care you receive in the end.

the entire staff, from the wonderful girl at the front desk, to the dr's, saved my dogs life. The front desk girl was the first one to tell me that I was giving my dog the wrong allergy meds and to come right in....the doctor was amazing and was beyond professional and brilliant.... I am so appreciative to this Veterinary Hospital no one will ever know....there are no words... Thank you is just not enough..... They saved my best friend..... Susan
