I don't ever care to write reviews. I am compelled, however, to write one for this place. In short: they were tremendous, professional, quick, thorough, and made my wife and I feel comfortable and informed. From the second we walked in (around 6:45pm on a Monday night) no questions were asked (about insurance or billing or anything time consuming)--we were instantly told to follow the nurse and bring our cat to their ER room. The doctor (Dr. Nair) and nurses all immediately surrounded our cat, started caring for him, taking diagnostics, as we explained our cat's situation. They calmly squeezed all the information out of us that they needed and quickly continued administering different tests, all the while explaining to us what they were finding and where those results lay in the averages of what they should look like. We were then taken to a room where the doctor explained his findings, his conclusions, our options, the billing (they were very upfront with that for our benefit for decision-making), and the next steps. When we were all said and done and cleared our cat OK to leave, they went over all the information again and made sure everything was crystal clear. Throughout all of this, while my wife and I were very stressed, the staff was incredibly calm, reassuring, and professional. They were very aware to consider our emotional state as well as our cat's. We couldn't be happier and more pleasantly surprised with our time there. They were caring and made a very stressful situation as relaxing as possible. THEN the FOLLOWING MORNING when our cat had ANOTHER situation come up, we immediately called the hospital, spoke to Dr. Nair again (7am) and he talked us through the next steps, assessed the situation based on pictures that he had us TEXT to him (of our cat and his situation), and stayed on the phone with us until we were calm and understood everything. The staff at Veterinary Emergency Group not only wonderfully took care of our cat, as is there priority, they took care of us too and kept us as calm as possible. Thank you!!

The doctors and staff at VEG were so kind and attentive with my cat. She was admitted overnight, and even after she went home I was able to call and speak with the doctor about her progress. They really went above and beyond in her care for her and her attention to us as owners. I do not live close to this hospital, but it's the only place I will bring my pets for emergency care from now on.

100% would recommend this place. Staff was attentive and very friendly! My Sparky was seen right away. Sitting in the waiting area I heard the staff cheer when they were able to remove a small bone lodged in his throat. Dr. Butler is amazing, kind and very patient ❤️ So glad I chose this place for my Sparky’s care.

The vet looked at my cat’s mouth for less than 2 minutes, then told me they don’t do any dental procedures so she can’t help me. Then they had the nerve to try to charge me $145 visit fee? Of course I didn’t pay it. They turned me away saying they couldn’t help me, then try to charge me for it? They are crazy. Stay away. They were referred to me by the humane society, but I don’t think humane society has dealt with them directly. I would listen to the negative review here - they are more accurate.

This whole place is wonderful. I live in West Harlem, so it was a pain to get to, but worth it! The staff is all super friendly and they know how to handle an emergency with the right balance of lightheartedness and seriousness/informativeness. I was in and out without any delays in the process, and got an email follow up with all of the instructions so I didn't have to remember it all that was customed to my dog and things we specifically talked about that couldn't have come from just a rote template, so they clearly care about each individual animal that comes in there.

I took my cat here after a well-regarded vet in my neighborhood (mis)diagnosed her with asthma one morning and she began having trouble as the afternoon progressed. As it turned out, the news was very bad, and I had to put her to sleep (obviously a very painful decision, but I completely trusted the vets at VEG and the info they gave me). I am so glad we ended up here. The place is state of the art but relatively small--so much warmer than AMC or Blue Pearl. And everyone was very professional but so caring and kind. I would recommend VEG to anyone!

THE BEST EMERGENCY HOSPITAL FOR YOUR PET-FRIEND! Dr. Austin is one of the best vet I ever met. My dog (corgi) was extremely in pain due to the torned ligament, but she was thorough explaining the situation and possible diagnostics/resolutions in most efficient and affordable ways. Instead of forcing X-rays on us (like any other vets), she already assumed and prescribed medications for anti-inflammatory and pain relief for my dog for next 7 days and advised to return if my dog is still in pain for further evaluation. The best part of this place is they are open when your regular vet is closed -- so definitely give it a try when in an emergency. The staffs are also soooo friendly and kind. I wish I can give this place 10 stars, and I will return again in case of emergency. I wish she can be my regular go-to Vet... I just want to thank you all for your kindness and honest evaluation of my dog's symptoms.

My dog injured his leg and I was worried that it was broken. Our vet's office was closed and he's very young and hasn't had all of his shots yet so I was nervous about bringing him to the emergency room at AMC. He was seen immediately at Veterinary Emergency Group and got very good care. The vet who assessed my dog also emailed a report to Lucky's regular vet right away so she can follow up with later to make sure he's healing well, which I really appreciate. I will definitely bring Lucky back if we have any more emergencies in off hours.

Woke up on a holiday and realized my cat had an eye infection. i decided to try the new emergency vet down the block - rather than wait at least another day for my regular vet (who i do love). Walked in without an appointment - we were seen right away and the staff could not have been nicer. They knew exactly what the problem was and gave me antbiotics for her. She has already had 2 doses and is on her way to getting better instead of waiting another day or so to be treated. We were out of there in less than 20 minutes and i could not be happier. What a great resource! welcome to the neighborhood!

The receptionist was very helpful when I called she asked for some information before we went in she was sweet. When I got to the place they checked us in right away the vet helped us out we waited there was snacks coffee water for us to grab while we waited. The staff made sure we were informed of prices and how they would take care of the dog. My dog wasn’t able to walk from his two legs they took xrays took us into the room to see what was going on. Beyond happy with everything in this place they took us as walk-in.

VEG was a godsend to us on Sunday am. I had called my own Vet in Harlem who does have hours on Sunday, and was told it would be a 2 hour wait even for emergency plus an additional $100. I found VEG and we took our pup in and the staff could not have been nicer. This facility is clean and organized. The reception is courteous and efficient. We saw Dr. Arbona, and she took wonderful care of Roxy. Staff is knowledgeable and professional. We received excellent care. VEG has many locations including White Plains. Roxy is recovering and we are very grateful.

It is rare that I am so impressed with every single aspect of a business but that is really the case with VEG. I called first to see if they could see my cat right away (she had glass in her paw!) and to my surprise, the vet got on the phone with me - that was already a big plus! The office is sparkly clean and so well organized. Everyone from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the vet herself, was amazingly friendly, caring and professional. They took such good care of my cat - I couldn't have asked for anything more. Over the phone, the vet was very upfront about possible fees, laying out the worst-case scenario. Luckily for me, the visit was not very costly, but it's good to be prepared! I am happy to recommend VEG to anyone for emergency or regular animal care. They are great!

Dr. Austin and staff were great with our dachshund, Mia. We called them prior to arriving as I was freaking out a little bit about her injuring her back. Everyone made sure that Siegfried and I were comfortable during our whole visit, and the process was smooth from check in, to assessment, to radiologic testing, to diagnosis and treatment. This practice is a godsend. I highly recommend this group and am incredibly grateful they have opened convenient based close to Astoria in Manhattan. The staff are incredibly kind, knowledgeable and efficient. The walk in fee is less than the emergency fee at my regular vet. VEG is open from 6pm to 8am for those of us who work business hours and are faced with an emergency. The facility is spotless and holds all the latest technologies. Blood work is done on sight and you get your results immediately. The vet explained things to me until I understood. Having a sick pet is stressful enough and this group made my experience a thousand time better. I feel confident in their abilities and would give them 100 stars if I could.

I came here in my most urgent time of need. I had to put my 13 year old Shih Tzu/ Poodle down due to collapsed trachea. It was early morning on Thanksgiving. The idea of walking in there made me just break down in tears, I couldn't even finish my sentence as it was so heartbreaking to be in this situation. Dr. Austin and the two other technicians were absolutely amazing. They gave us Emma's favorite treats, allowed us to go in a private room and spend our last moments with her and take the time we needed. They love animals and it feels like friends are helping you instead of doctors. They all have dogs themselves and totally get it. I just can't say enough about them. I felt comforted and welcomed like I was a VIP. They were absolutely outstanding in the most sad time. My dog had a stomach problem, of course after regular vet hours as usual, and I knew I was going to be spending the night going in multiple walks. Instead, I walked towards VEG. The staff was incredibly friendly and worried about my dog; the vet (Dr. Kwan) came out to greet us and ask if she could help in any way. I decided to get him checked out there (it was the same price as my regular vet) and left shortly after with medication. The staff was very helpful and they all went above and beyond to make sure we left with all that we needed to make sure that my dog would be ok. I am so glad these guys are here!

Our cat misjudged a jump in our apartment in the very late hours of the night. We could see he was hurt and brought him into the Veterinary Emergency Group. He was taken in right away and the staff worked with incredible efficiency and thoroughness. The facility is clean and well organized. Dr. Austin had a very kind and knowledgeable approach. Decided to give this place a try based on the good reviews. And yes, they are awesome. My dog was sick with diarrhea, vomiting, blood in urine. They quickly saw us and recommended a series of tests and their costs. Later they explained the xray and blood tests results in detail. I was so impressed with the level of service from the doctor to their staff. I would definitely recommend this place and will not hesitate to visit them again should my dog need it.

Dr Nair is the man and the entire team, they are under a lot of pressure dealing with non stop emergencies and just getting stuff done and saving animals. My dog somehow got a round bone marrow bone caught in his mouth, stuck in his jaw and lodged in by his two canine teeth. I ran over to VEG, where I was seen immediately. The facilities are brand new, spotless and the whole staff couldn’t be more lovely, reassuring and helpful. The vets were hands on, talked me through our options and were just so kind. Thankfully between the two vets we were able to go the less invasive route because one of the vets had seen this happen before! So we didn’t end up having to cut the bone out of my dogs mouth but rather gently wiggle it out while he was sedated. They stayed with us from start to finish to monitor my dog after coming out of sedation, gave me medication to ensure he wouldn’t potentially get an infection and explained everything I needed to do/know for the next few days! I can’t say enough about the help, support and kindness I received today. I hope not to have to go back (as they only deal in medical emergencies), but should the situation arise, they will be my first and only stop! Thank you again Dr. Austin and Dr. Arbona! Jasmine, you were amazing from start to finish as well! And thank you to the receptionist who didn’t laugh when I was crying, but only came to offer tissues and water and try and calm me down! Thank you all so much! You made what was a stressful situation for us so bearable (and ok, fine, I was more panicked than my dog was)

I have never ever written a Yelp review- or at least beyond checking out how to do it- but I really must rave about this amazing group. I rushed my little doggie there last night, with significant stomach distress. They took x rays, stared her on an IV, ket her overnight and treated her as needed. Dr, Nair went significantly above and beyond anything I had a right to expect, particularly as a new patient. I genuinely believe my sweet pup was not only cared for but genuinely loved. They sent me texts, pictures, videos, and today, and turned her challenges around. The doctor and his whole staff were caring, insightful, informed and patient. They truly took their tie with me. I have genuinely never felt in such good hands. I hope your pet never needs emergency care, but if he or she does, this is the place to go- for both of you!

This is such an important and valuable practice that fills a crucial niche for pet emergency care. Unlike the big vet hospitals, you are usually seen immediately, can mostly stay with your pet while he or she is being treated and remain as long as you wish. VEG also contains costs by only offering emergency care during hours conventional vets are closed. The doctors and attending vet techs are caring, compassionate and very professional. Dr. Stephanie Austin, Brandon and Jasmine treated my cat, Raphael, and they were absolutely wonderful with him, and I observed the same response towards other peoples' pets while I was there.

All of the staff at VEG gave me total confidence that my dog would be well cared for medically and emotionally. They clearly love animals. When it was discovered that she needed surgery due to a foreign body in her stomach they communicated well with me so that I knew what was happening throughout the decision to have surgery and gave me an update when it was done.
