Brought my Dog in and my experience was great Dr. Ramos treated my pet with such kindness and care. Also the following day they called in to see how my pet was doing after the visit. Thank you for your services.. will be bringing my pet in soon.

Brought our cat in with what we thought was an infection. The doctors identified the issue, took her for a few hours to shave and disinfect the irritated area, gave us meds, and a lot of useful information. Very helpful and kind. They even trimmed her nails (for an additional cost). Front desk clerk was also friendly and helpful!

Riverside Veterinary Clinic is a great place to take your pet. They are very engaging for the pet`s and their owner`s especially during Christmas when the pet and owner take a picture of Santa Clause. The people who work there work very hard and are welcoming.

They have been my pet's Doctor for years, and my experience has been excellent. Last year my cat had a critical condition and the Vet was precise with the diagnosis and was fast treating her. Thanks to them, she is now doing great. Their prices are much lower than most of the veterinarian in the city, specially when is time to do tests and hospitalization. I highly reccomend them.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! Everyone in the community told me NOT to go here and I finally learned my lesson. I am not one to write reviews, but this is absolutely necessary so that other people are not subjected to this place and their practices. They will do everything in their power to upcharge you. You have to defend yourself at all times. I needed a stool sample and they took an hour and half to finally give me an estimate. It was completely overpriced and they tried to add in a bunch of other things, which totaled over $1,200!!! I declined their offer and they still made me pay for the consultation fee. Furthermore, when I got my dog neutered they had to do a revision. They definitely only took one of his testicales, but said that it was a cyst even though it was the same size and shape of his testicles. With all of the horror stories from them, I cannot believe they are still in business. Just go to the dog park and everyone will have at least one horror story from them. Washington Heights needs more vets so that people in this community have another option for their pets. I recommend going to Harlem or the upper west side for your pet. Absolutely brutal!!! PS. I am pretty sure the only 5 star ratings are coming from them because not a single person that I have talked to has ever given positive feedback from their experience here.

I absolutely love this place they provided me with great affordable service

The staff is very friendly and even stayed 30 min overtime to help my pet in need.

very decent clinic ! the vet and his assistant seemed like they really knew what they were doing, very sweet girl kristable btw ! my dog is normally very restless during nail trims but managed to stay calm with them two which is surprising to me I guess he must've felt that he was being handled by the very best haha , i recommend this place !

Dolores Fernandez

Very profecional friendly affordable place, iam very happy satisfied with the service they gave my cat, thank you

The worst place to go. I think they only care about taking your money. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this place. After bringing my dog here and getting vaccines she got really sick and when I went back they just wanted my money.

Hands down the most unscrupulous vet I have ever been to! He was literally watching my pet die and offered zero pain management but kept leading me on trying to run more test to run up the bill. It was very obvious that he was doing this. And because both he and the radiologist knew what was wrong with my pet was in fact very dire, I heard the radiologist tell the secretary in Spanish (they didn't know I spoke spanish) to make sure that I sign the form that says I'm refusing their services but if my pet dies they are not at fault. You knew well enough to have me sign that form but acted completely clueless as to how serious my pets situation was!!!! They basically sent her home to die in excruciating pain because I didn't allow them to continue to run up the vet bill!!! I took her to another vet and without even running one test the vet was immediately able to speculate as to what was wrong and after running one test 100% confirmed it!!!! It is something that is so common in my pets species that you literally would have to be a first year vet student on your first day of class to not see what was wrong. My new, amazing, passionate, and knowledgeable vet was truly dumbfounded that this vet was acting like he didn't know what was wrong and never offered pain meds!!!! Thank God for vets that actually care about the animals and not the money. As pet owners our animals mean the world to us and to know that there are vets out here preying on our emotions and lack of knowledge in regards to certain ailments is truly disturbing!!!! He got 1 star so I could write this review but he's not even worth that!

My dog Joybee had a tumor removed at Riverside. They were incredibly professional, fast and gentle. I could not have had a better experience. I brought he in on Monday morning, they made a last minute appointment for me and there was no waiting. The surgery was scheduled for Thursday, but they would have done it the same day if I had been ready. Dr. Ramos and his staff explained everything to me in detail. They answered all my questions. Dr. Ramos called me to give me the results of the bloodwork. He and his staff are wonderful. It is a very well staffed office. In addition to their curtesy, I was impressed by how many people were on staff. I felt extremely confident and satisfied with the treatment she received. I cannot understand how anyone had anything less than positive to say about Riverside Veterinary Clinic. In terms of pricing. Taking care of pets and their medical needs is always going to be expensive. I did a lot of research and I felt Riverside's pricing was very reasonable. They took x-rays, bloodwork, antibiotics and pain meds, pre and post visits for under $2,000. The only thing I don't recommend is hospitalizing your pet overnight. I originally paid $80 for this and then later asked about their overnight staff. They don't have overnight staff. They refunded me and I picked her up at closing time this way they monitored her throughout the day of the surgery. I recommend not hospitalizing your dog overnight and bringing your dog in in the morning if s/he needs further monitoring. They do not charge for any visits within the first ten days of the surgery. Again, I give riverside 5 stars and an A+ for compassionate, fast and fairly priced care!

If you are considering this as an option for your beloved animal...please find yourself another option. In my experience at this vet, both the vet tech and the vet were disconnected from being with the animal or with the concerned pet owner. I brought my cat in concerning a cough and sneezing fits that was becoming worse and worse each day. The vet came in, barely said two words to me. They took my cat out of the carrier to examine her. I have a very well behaved cat and would have been happy to do what is being asked of her but they ignored my request to be kinder to her and turned their backs to me while they looked over my girl. That exam lasted maybe 5-7 minutes. The vet left and the tech returned with a bill of $522.00 and no explanation and was actually surprised why I would decline spending SO much money without a clear explanation as to what was actually wrong with my cat. The vet came in to speak with me, shocked that I would turn down his recommend treatment. It was the first time the man actually looked me in the eyes and connected with me (now that the idea of he realized that he may not be getting his money's worth for his time) I told him straight, "I'm not paying for anything until I know what's going on with my cat." Then he mentioned in such a casual manner that she dying, her kidney's are failing her and her heart is shot and that I might as well put her down (like it was no crazy thing to consider putting down this animal that as been my loving addition to my life for the past 7 years) He went further to say that the treatments he had recommended weren't even to support her health at the moment. (Blood work, antibiotics, and extracting a stool sample) So I paid the $65 for the treatment and decided I needed another opinion. When I looked that doctor in the eyes, he looked exhausted, overworked, and disconnected from the reason he might have decided to go into veterinary health to begin with. I don't even think the man knew what day it was. That being said, if someone looks that out of it, why in the world would I trust your word about the health and wellness of my cat? I paid my fee and went to the vet clinic on 181 and Amsterdam who treated my cat for a respiratory infection for less than $100 and my baby girl is doing just fine. If l listened to the advice of the vet at this place I would have spent money for nothing or listened to him and put my cat down based on an exam that lasted less than 10 mins. Please.

This place provides horrible service and then tries to rip you off! In short; I went in to treat my dog and it felt like they didn't care about the pet, just about the money. They tried to charge me $563 for a plethora of services, when I only needed an x-ray and pain medication ($230). The nurse and the "veterinarian" were indifferent and unfriendly. For the sake of your pet, avoid this place like the plague! For a full review read below: When my dog injured his tail I called the clinic that I normally go to, but the vet was out sick, so I decided to give this place a try since they were able to see me right away. When I arrived the nurse didn't seem very knowledgeable about what he was doing, and was just making my dog, who was already in pain, feel more uncomfortable. When the doctor (last name Ramos), finally made an appearance and I explained the situation as to what happened to my dog, he barely made any effort to check him, told me to hold on for a few moments and left the room. A few minutes later the nurse came in with a bill for $563 and asking me to sign it before they could actually do anything to my dog. I was upset at the fact that they didn't even bother explaining what they were doing to my pet, or what they were charging me for. When I asked the nurse for what they were going to do, and what the charges were for he couldn't give me a straight answer, he seemed nervous and went outside, when he came back he only said that I didn't have to get all the procedures suggested done to the dog. The doctor came in and explained what they were charging me for, and as it turns out, I didn't have to get anything other than a set of X-rays to make sure his tail was not broken and pain medication, which summed a total of $230 dollars. It's also worth noting that the doctor didn't even bother coming out to explain the results of the x-rays and sent the nurse instead, at this I simply asked if I could speak to Ramos, his response was calling the doctor on the phone (even the secretary agreed that was rude!), needless to say this only irritated me even more, I asked to see him in person. I quickly looked up the pain medication on my phone and found a pet pharmacy who was selling the medication for $25, which was half the price of what they were charging me. When I asked for a prescription the doctor refused, and said that I needed to buy the medication directly from them. I didn't want my dog to be in pain while debating for a prescription, so I said I would just buy it from them. The nurse then told me that because my dog was a large size dog, they were going to up the dosage. But, it was just because they didn't have the dosage they originally prescribed available. And they also charged me an extra $10 for new 100mg pills. It bothers me to think that these people are willing to take advantage of anyone who goes to their clinic in a state of distress because their pets might be sick or in pain. It's wrong that they are doing this and people should be aware that all they care about is making money off clients. Washington Heights Animal Hospital might have old equipment and might not have great hours of operation, but they have always treated my pets with great care and were willing to work with me when money was tight.

If it was allowed to give negative ratings this place it would be in the deep negatives. I never in my life ever had to write a bad review on a place but this place seriously needs to be shut down! This place just wants to make money and will try to convince you there’s something seriously wrong with your pet even though it may be something minor. I had brought my 5 month old puppy there last Monday (Only place close to me open on Labor Day) because he started to have diahrrea and one dark looking stool. TWhen the vet came to check on him, he barely examined him and just tapped his belly. He didn’t ask me any detailed questions on what’s been happening with him or how has he behaving, the only thing he asked was “When did it start and if any vomiting?”. Didn’t take the time or even care to ask questions about his health or if any other medical issues he’s had in the past. I brought a stool sample and he quickly looks at it and says “He’s bleeding from somewhere” 5 minutes later, vet tech comes back with two pieces of paper explaining my “options for treatment” which is basically a bill. One option is to run some tests and do blood work ( $250) and the second option was to do the blood work and tests along and start IV abx and hydration and “admit him for three days” which was totally unnecessary. I asked what would he have done the three days he’s here and he says “observation, IV fluids and A antibiotic”, the second option was $1200. He kept saying he may have Parovirus but that test result won’t come back for another three days and I’m risking his life by waiting for for test results by not starting treatment. I told him, he hasn’t been lethargic, his energy levels are good, not vomiting, good appetite, and that he’s his playful self, def not acting like a sick puppy. But how would he know that if he doesn’t care to ask. They then say he has a fever of 102, but I then see hat could be normal for a puppy. Again trying to find any reason to convince you hat your dog is seriously ill. I then told him since when do abx kills viruses since your so sold he needs “treatment” but he couldn’t answer and just gave me attitude since I kept asking questions he didn’t want to answer. The next day I called my dog’s primary Vet who and I explain the entire store and mentioned the abx he wanted to prescribe. I find out he Clavamox was the incorrect abx to give since it doesn’t give any coverage to gut bacterial infections but Flagyl is the standard of care treatment since your covering a wide range of different bacteria’s. I asked him to fax me the results of all the blood work and he hangs up the phone on me. The moral of the story here, this place just want your money. They will make a big deal out of a potentially minor thing and convince you to get a bucket load of unnecessary tests. When you start asking important questions as to the rationale of doing it they get really upset and just want you to quickly make a decision. This is not safe care, just another business trying to make money, this is fraud on all levels. There are many other things that happen but this post has been long enough. I’ll wait to report it to whatever NYC Vet board there is because this is beyond ridiculous this place legally is still open. Also, they had two shaves both of his legs to get the blood work, it’s ridiculous on his left leg they shaved almost half of his arm off. Beyond RIDICULOUS!! RUN FAR FAR AWAY!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE - GREEDY and MONEY HUNGRY! - This will read almost like a christmas movie but with a very horrible ending regarding this bussiness. I live in the area and the night before christmas a kitten was scratching on my door on the 4th floor of my building. My fiance and I took the cat inside, gave him a bath and realised the poor kitten has fleas everywhere! We wrapped the kitten up, and went over to this Vet clinic. This was in the evening around 6pm. The receptionist was very friendly, but everything went south quickly once i told them that i am seeking their help and not looking to pay hundreds for services. - The assistant took a look at the kitten, said he is less than 4 months and began to list all the procedures he wants to run on the cat, running up the bill. I asked to speak to the main vet - the scum bag didn't bother even coming out to the front to look us in the eyes to reject any help. I told him we are not interested in paying such a huge sum of money to treat a kitten that is not our responsibility. I asked them to borrow a crate at least to keep the kitten separate from my dogs, so that we can pass him over to an animal shelter after the weekend. They continued to refuse ANY options of helping us. they couldnt and wouldnt suggest any local options for us to utilize to help the kitten. The only thing they kept pushing was money first before they offered ANY "help". --- I was disgusted by the entire situation. For a medical ANIMAL clinic, they showed NO emotion towards the kitten, or myself while we were trying to find the kitten help. ---- My fiance and I left - took a taxi 30min into midtown to a NYC animal care center, who were not able to take the cat in but at least provided us a crate to keep him in, they waived any fee's and spent 10 minutes educating us on what we can do at home to help the kitten if we chose to hold on to him over the holiday weekend! - Javier, next time at least look the people in the eye when you DENY them ANY HELP or SERVICE!

Least expensive option to purchase meds for my pet.

This place is the worst place ever when it comes to the care of your pet, if I was allow to give them 0 stars I would. All they care about is the money, and not the wellbeing of your pet. I took my dog there this past weekend. Yesterday I went to see him and there was blood all over his paws, no one had the curtesy to tell me what happened to him, but instead they wanted to charge 85$ to give him a bath after I had payed $1613.34. When I got there, he was so dirty, is not like they took a wet towel and tried to clean him a bit. I picked him up today, and he is limping, he doesn't want to eat. I called them back, and their response was, " I didn't know he was limping". As the owner is so upsetting, to know that your animal is being neglected. After all the trouble they didn't find anything wrong, so I just gave them all that money just cause.

Gabriel Mercado

Be very careful here they extremely unprofessional and scammers... Just make sure to review your bill before you pay they almost got me on 500$ and give my dog a treatment that I didn’t I agreed to do on my dog. BEWARE!!!!

H R

I agree 100% with R E ...this place likes to over charge pet owners. I regret bring my dog here and the amount of money I wasted for her to get her first set of shots was a nightmare...but today's visit is where I said I had enough. They tried to charge me almost $240 just to bathe and groom my dog..sedate her and they had the nerve to tell me she is missing a bordatella shot that is $98. I was soo livid but I kept my cool and simply just left and never coming back.. the nerve of these people. They always find something to try to charge people extra money...I simply brought my dog for a bath and grooming which is no where near $240.

Excellent care ! Knowledgeable and compassionate staff! Dr.Ramos explains everything that is going on and what to do to resolve the issues!

Beware. If you love your pet, don't go near this place. Incompetence meets greed at Riverside Veterinary Clinic on Broadway (175-176th). Not to be confused with Riverside Animal Hospital on W. 108th St, which is superb and should change their name to avoid confusion. Zero stars but needed to give one in order to rate it. Sadie

Yesterday I visited this pet care center with 4 years old Labrador and I am so happy with the facilities, customer service with very accommodating and welcoming staff.

Very good Vet specially Dominick the assistant and the vet is also good, they took good care of my cat, although it can be a bit costly.

My pets and I love this clinic! I take my pitbull Terry there at least once a month for grooming. He loves it there. Thr staff is super helpful and they make sure to take care of all of Terry's needs. They treat him like family and I love that. Terry is healthy and very playful for a dog his age and its all thanks to the staff at this clinic. They're always suggesing different foods and places I can take him for a good work out. As far as my fishes thanks to their recommendation on changing their diet I do see a big difference. Thank you to everyone at Riverside Veterinary Clinic for all of your help!

Sirio K9

This clinic is terrible! not professional at all and ramos is just an animal killer. It was the worst experience ever, since they lied to us and euthanased our pet without being present.

Conrado Falco

I have taken my dog here a couple times when he's been sick and have had a good experience. Shoutout to Dominic, who was very helpful and understanding of our situation last time we were there.

Marie Brancaccio

This clinic isnt organised or knowlegable or compassionate in treating animals our canine was taken their for a biopsy test for a skin tumor with needle asperstion done , its 3 days later we never get a call back on results we then call and told its cancer and told the best bet is put your dog to sleep !! Thats not only a uncompassionate thing to say but this clinic isnt an oncoligist or specialist in cancer and schould never give any advise on a decision exspecally with out seeing a specialist oncoligist I would never recommed this place if you care about your companion animals not every one who studies medicine is good nor is it their calling in life use wisdom and knowledge when seeking out a conventional medicine vet its mostly about profit sadly

I had the most peaceful experience putting my cat down here at Riverside. I am an Inwood Vet Clinic client, but found my experience here at Riverside made me reconsider my choice. The wait area was quiet and SPACIOUS. The staff was so accommodating, patient and understanding. Upon entering the room, the veterinarian, whom I've never met before, greeted me in a truly caring matter after shaking my hand. My cat looked peaceful and I was with her as she was injected. The respectfully told me I could take as much time as needed with her, but I did not feel the need to. I'd recommend this vet to everyone with a pet. The experience I had here was 1000 times better than the one I had in July at Inwood Vet Clinic. (I'll write my review there in fairness). I have no pets now, but when the time is right, Riverside will happily have my business.

I actually met Dr. Ramos back in 2000 when I first took my cat Mia to the clinic, my cat was not friendly at all and she was so wild I had politely and not so politely kicked out of a few places until I found his clinic. I was very happy because I could afford his prices and he was very positive and wanted to treat my cat even thought she used get awfully crazy every time. Now I have a puppy and Dr. Ramos has been treating her and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his practice. I feel we as pet owners have to listen to the doctor's recommendations and yes, sometimes many tests are needed in order to diagnose what is really going on, is the same as with a human patient and a doctor for humans, you need to do checkups and tests regularly even if you are healthy and even more if you are sick. I have always followed his advice and have done what he has recommended and I have found out that down the line regular planned visits and tests give me very happy healthy pets that require less visits to the vet, I say that because Mia my cat is still alive, she is now almost 18 and is no longer as wild as she used to be but she is well and healthy thanks to doctor Ramos and his team.

Nice vet care.

The worst clinic ever! The most unprofessional staff!!!! 3 so-called "professionals" stopped trimming my cat's claws right in the middle under the pretext "of being afraid to being scratched". Then they went out for lunch, leaving me alone in this room waiting. They were putting pressure on me to sedate my cat and pay more, despite the fact that I've been a client for 5 years, and their previous staff member was always able to trim the cat's claws without anesthesia. I have a very good cat who was a bit more agitated than usual, but even I was able to calm him down, was willing to hold him. They did not let me hold him, yet they could not handle him. The most disrespectful staff ever! When I questioned their professionalism, they did not like it and threatened to call the police. When I asked for their names - they left. DON'T GO THERE! They are rude, unprofessional and indifferent even to the regular clients. I'm never ever going back there! I'm willing to pay more but go to REAL doctors that are not afraid of a cat. They literally said: "I don't wanna be scratched." What kind of "vets" would say something like that? Their staff people can't properly hold a cat, making it times more agitated than it used to be. Surreal!!!! As a response: You do NOT have my understanding. I've dealt with numerous vets for the past 10 years (not just for this cat), and I have never ever experienced this kind of: 1). unprofessionalism; 2). rudeness; 3). inappropriate behavior. If you call yourselves VETS, you should be able to take care of a 12 pound CAT (that I was holding, a very nice and gentle cat). I did not bring you lions and tigers, even those you should know how to treat, if you are "so-called" professionals. If you are unprofessional losers, then you behave they way you were behaving: 1). did not let me hold my cat (he was behaving, when I was holding him; 2). had no patience in waiting; 3). went out for lunch leaving me alone in that room; 4). Dr.Ramos made it clear IT WAS BENEATH HIS DIGNITY to intervene, once his staff was helpless (FYI - he is the ONLY "so-called" doctor there, others are just regular people, no diplomas, no names); 5). When I expressed my shock, Dr Ramos said: "Go away, or I'll call the police!" 6). I had to BEG for help to put my cat back in the cart. When I asked the names of other people, I was told: "Go away, we are not telling you." SHAME ON YOU, DR. RAMOS AND THE NAMELESS STAFF!!!! SHAME ON YOUR LOW STANDARDS AND UNPROFESSIONALISM. As someone who's acquiring her 4th graduate diploma, I can distinguish a professional from a loser. Having witnessed today's absurdity, I can only imagine what you were doing to my cat before. In fact, this story is surreal! 3 grown up men are afraid of a 12 pound cat! They asked me to come back when "the wild beast is in a better mood". Literally! :) Well, the only VET there refused even to participate (this job was way too low for "his majesty"), while other technicians were TOO SCARED of my beast. Probably, they saw a lion or a tiger in my kitten. Also, I'd recommend the police to inquire about the immigration status of the vet technician. He was reluctant to name himself which makes me think he's illegal...Hm....

My pom got really sick and was showing signs of internal bleeding. I was in desperate need to be seen. I walked in at 6:45pm without calling and they were supposed to close at 7:00pm. Both the lead veterinarian and the assistant saw me as soon as I walked in the door and took Bella's situation into their hands. I shared with them that I was a student and I needed to be financially careful. They accommodated me very professionally with a list of quotes of prices for all possible options for treatment before moving forward. I feel very good about my experience! I am sure they saved Bella's life. Bella and I have a new veterinary home.

Edgar Flores

I wouldn’t recommend anyone this Clinic. The service is so bad. They treat pets like objects and it’s all about money. I went for the yearly vaccines for my dog that supposedly cost $98 as a promotion but it ended in $126. They pushed me to agree a surgery procedure in that moment that cost $900. I told the no to that and the attitude change and became hostile. They only care about money.

Rachael Edwards

PET PARENTS BEWARE! THE VET AND ASSISTANT WILL TRY TO OVERCHARGE YOU AND TRY TO PERFORM SURGERY ON YOUR DOG FOR ANYTHING. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH BLATANT FRAUDULENT UNPROFESSIONALISM. THE VET GAVE ME NO VALUABLE MEDICAL CLARITY OR ADVICE FOR MY DOG’S ISSUE. HE TOLD ME MY DOG WAS EITHER STRESSED, HAD A CYST OR CANCER AND THAT SHE HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO REMOVE IT AS THE FIRST AND ONLY OPTION. THEN GREW UPSET WHEN I WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY HE COULDN’T NARROW DOWN HIS DIAGNOSIS. HE ACCUSED ME OF WATCHING TOO MANY MOVIES BECAUSE PET PARENTS “ASSUME HE KNOWS IT ALL” THEN STORMED OUT OF THE EXAMN ROOM TELLING ME I HAD TO LEAVE. ******************** In response to the owner's reply, you and I both know that is a complete lie. We can Easily bring up the camera footage in your facility to prove this. You are using serious key words such as "abusive" and "disrespect" to describe me which is ironic because the Vet that was dealing with my dog's concern was in fact all the above. It is sad that this office is considered a professional setting. I felt like I was in the twilight zone from the vet's first thought to perform surgery to storming out of the room in the middle our conversation. I did not yell or raise my voice, again, your cameras can prove this. Your replay was untruthful, distasteful and actually crazy. I've heard awful things about this place and should have listened to the warnings before stepping foot in Riverside Veterinary Clinic.

Sheila Rosario

Charged me over $1500 to tell me my dog has a skin allergy. Took her to an actual hospital, with no appointment where they did a lot more for more than a $1000 less. Above all, the staff didn't seem to like their job, nor have the knowledge needed to work with dogs. They treated my dog like she was a savage. Never again. Don't recommend this place for those that care about the attention their pet receives. UPDATE: A reply was made and I must confess: I do not know how to respond directly to it. Firstly, I was never advised to place my dogs on a leash, they were in their stroller. Secondly, when my dogs are scared (especially my maltese), they run under my legs, they don't bite, let alone growl. Tertiary, I was given a bill (very well broken down) charging $1,500. I turned down the vast majority of the services and ended up paying the amount that was disclosed for a reason I do not understand. But as was stated, people are free to express their own truths. I hope that anyone else that visits has a much better experience. I am sorry mine wasn't a good one.

Nunya Biznez

Rude staff; They put you directly to hold when you call.

Eddie Prandi

Friendly, professional service and the wait was not long, especially for a Sunday. Dr. Ramos was helpful, knowledgeable and very nice. He was also very sweet and patient with our little girl cat. The day after our visit, we got a courtesy call from the staff just to check up on our cat; they asked us to call them if or when we needed anything or had any questions. Very nice place.

I recently took a guinea pig here that I saved from a pet shop and I just want to say that this is the only place I was able to find that helps guinea pigs. The doctor was so knowledgeable about guinea pigs and very caring. I was able to get an x Ray, pain shot, and pain meds for an affordable price. The staff was very nice and the place was very clean, they even have their own pets in the clinic. Now, Lucky(the guinea pig I saved) has made so much progress, he is starting to walk a little bit and is eating and drinking on his own. I’m so happy and thankful that the doctor helped him because I was scared he was going to get euthanasia. I will continue going to this clinic to get check ups and meds. Thank you!

I have been here for my cat vaccinations. I also shop here regularly for Prescription food Hill's science diet (my cat has urinary problems). They have very competitive prices on this product (much more convenient than buying on the internet). Reception is professional and friendly.

Avoid this place at all cost. This is not a vet clinic, it's a petstore. The minute that I walked in, the receptionist asked the brand of my kitten's food and convinced me to buy from here. While I was waiting for the vet, she tried to sell me insurance. Then the assistant who's very stinky and dirty didn't do anything besides selling unnecessary and expensive treatments. And the vet only touch my kiity three times and charges me for $64 for physical examination. And before I left, once again the receptionist tried to sell a nail clipper for $14. This place is terrible. I'm not recommending this clinic for anyone and I'll will not come back.

Is there a way to give negative stars? Due to the lack of vets in the neighborhood I brought in my 4.5 month old puppy who was suffering from diarrhea for the previous 18 hours. After a VERY brief exam in their somewhat unsanitary facility, the assistant left the room and told me he would return with an estimate... OK... that's.. kinda weird. Their recommendation was to hold my pup for 3 DAYS at a cost of ~$1600 and provide some other treatments (that were not very well communicated to me). Keep in mind, at this point ZERO tests had been performed on the dog, ZERO conditions had been confirmed, yet their first instinct was to hold the dog for 3 days. I should emphasize that this "clinic" does NOT even have an overnight staff, but of course this was not disclosed at the time of the estimate. Thank god I'm not a sucker. It is grossly transparent that the sole motivation of this "clinic" is to scare the pet owners into paying for services that are not needed, and to upsell, upsell, upsell. I might expect this from a car mechanic, but not a vet. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, spend the extra 20$ on an Uber and take your pet to a legitimate clinic on the UWS or elsewhere. It is worth it if you care about your pet, and your wallet. (Shout out to Westside Veterinary Center where I ended up going.) I eagerly await the "response from the owner", but unless you plan to refund my $65 "consultation fee", you may as well spare your breath. Update: The other vet I took Hamilton to performed a white and red blood cell count, and a fecal matter test, both of which indicated nothing abnormal (though the fecal matter test may have been a false negative due to the small sample). Hamilton was given fluids, and we were sent home with a dewormer, a medication for the diarrhea, and even some new food for his sensitive digestive system. There were no attempts to up-sell any additional or unnecessary procedures and everything that was being suggested was explained in detail. Most importantly however, only a day later Hamilton is showing significant improvement. I appreciate the professional reply from the owner, however I cannot help but feel my visit to Riverside was seen as an opportunity to maximize profit, and not simply to provide the best and most reasonable care options up front.

Please do not go to this vet. I had read bad reviews here before but nothing prepared me for the real thing. The vet was screaming like a crazy man behind the door. I had never seen anything like this. It was like he was having a meltdown. And he was also yelling at the gentleman who works there and was abusive. It was completely unprofessional. Furthermore he handed me a bill of $1200 without even carefully looking at my cat. Something is really wrong with this clinic. Don’t go there. Update: And let me respond to the clinic’s response. Oh like you are doing me a huge favor to stay open a little bit? And so what if I canceled my appointment? I had to cancel because My pet was fine and then became not well later. You didn’t even do a basic examination of my cat! How dare you give me a $1200 bill without examination while screaming at your staff?? It should be illegal for YOU to have your practice stay open because you are completely irresponsible and unprofessional. I have NEVER left a negative review anywhere. But when it comes to pets’ wellbeing, I feel that people need to know the truth. You are an angry man screaming like this at your own practice! And by the way, I took my cat to a different vet. The bill was not $1200 and my cat is fine and healthy! And further more, instead of constantly trying to defend your position in every single one of these negative reviews here, why don’t you look and see what needs to be changed in your practice? You think people like us just want to leave negative reviews here to defame you just for fun? If people are complaining about the same things here, obviously something is wrong! And you as a professional need to address it rather than defend your position!

Brought my cat here over a year ago, and was treated similarly to others here. The doctor looked at my cat for approximately 3 minutes, then presented me with an exorbitant bill with no explanation. It took me demanding to speak to the vet for him to tell me what they were attempting to charge for, then he scoffed at me for not wanting to over-medicate my cat. It was a degrading visit, which started in an upsetting way. While my cat and I were waiting to be seen, someone walked in with a dead dog wrapped in a blanket and had to sit in the waiting room with us for at least 20 minutes. He was crying and upset. I understand that this is not the fault of the staff, but I assume good practice would be to allow him to bring the large dog to a back room for some privacy. As a side note, our (now two) cats have been going to Inwood Animal Clinic since and we couldn't be happier. I'd go there (or anywhere else) if I were you.

Yea this place is pretty terrible something that should’ve been and examination and meds tried to charge for X-rays and random testing that had nothin to do with my dog digesting poison he came out with a bilover $1500 all these reviews are correct he won’t even come out and explain these over priced bills he’ll send one of his assistants which seem to have no experience in this type of field. Stay away from these scammers!!!!! Will over charge you for the smallest things!!!!!!! And will change prices on basic exam at any given moment they are liers and not professional I doubt he even has a license to be in business cause everyone acts like it’s an illigal lipo clinic

My family has included 2 other cats over the years which we would take downtown or to Westchester when they needed to go to the clinic. But with Tobi I wanted to find a hospital in the neighborhood because he doesn’t like to travel. I am so happy I found Riverside Veterinary Clinic! The clinic is clean, doesn’t smell and they remember his name. When I would go downtown to the animal hospital I would get different doctors, no one knew who we were and then they would send you to this payment area. It feels so different at RVC...they remember you, they’re very knowledgeable and upfront about fees. My second cat Fiesti died from renal failure and I’ve worried it was because of the food I fed her from our local supermarket. Luckily, RVC has premium food I can give to Tobi to keep him healthy. They’re good people, give them a try.

DO NOT COME HERE! Rather than a helpful experience for my dog, they treated him(and myself) very poorly. He was taken into another room and I'll I could here him do was cry. The other dogs where also barking. I was then told that my dog needed X-rays because of a possible fractured tail. With pain meds they charged me $500! Of course I said ok, because my dogs health comes first. A half an hour later, with constant dog barking and crying, they told me that it was partially fractured and that he would need to see a specialist downtown. I asked them, "should your wrap or tap his tail", to prevent further injury. They said "no", there's nothing else we can do, and "GOOD LUCK". I highly recommend not coming here. This place is a torture chamber not an animal clinic!

This is the most expensive vet in the area. A simple stitch cost 1,000 which is 700 more than my regular vet. The service was definitely not worth it. I would never come here again.

Edmalia Constanza

We experienced GREAT service. The doctor and nurse were knowledgeable and caring. I would go back.

Overpriced!

Was pushing for me to put my cat down, after a basic examination and without even reviewing the paperwork on his condition from my previous vet. Then had the gall to try and ask for over $700 for basic blood work and monitoring. If you want to find a vet who cares enough to gather all relevant information and fight to get your pet well, give this place a pass. NEVER AGAIN! As a response to this piss poor response bellow. Shadow is now at home and showing great improvement. Next time maybe look at the paperwork and put in more effort than a twenty minute bare bones examination. To anyone who wants to see a real vet, I recommend Clinton Vet Center in Hell's Kitchen, well worth the trip. ps. 102 is not that high of a fever, resign from practice.

Charged an unreasonable amount of money. I feel very taken advantage of, being a young women with my first cat. They told me my cat had ear mites yet gave him antibiotics? Upon talking to other vets this apparently makes no sense. I originally brought him in because I thought he had an upper respiratory infection so maybe that's why but it was not clear. They the charged me $18 for a cone for my cat that I could not even get back on him after my kitty got out of it because it was so cheap. They also quoted a dental cleaning at $600 which another vet in the area quoted at $200. I will now spend the next at least 6 months paying off my $400 vet visit that didn't even help him (he got worse and I had to take him to the vet a few days later which then put my total bills at $600). Unimpressed with their greediness. (This visit was a few months ago I'm finally getting around to writing)

Known in the neighborhood as dr death. They scammed my roommate. Don’t go
