I have been a client of this veterinary practice since last year and disappointment is the least I can say I have felt about the practice. I do not know if Dr. Perry knows how things are being handled by her staff and other doctors in the practice but I certainly hope she does not. Today I called because my dog, a patient of Pawsitive Veterinary, was bleeding from her ears. The staff person who answered the phone told me they could not do anything because everybody was on lunch break until 5:00 PM and that they were booked for the day. It was 4:17 PM when I called. I told her that she was bleeding a lot and that I needed to go there immediately. She asked me to wait on hold until she spoke with the veterinarian (I do not which of the vets was there). She came back to the phone saying that the vet has said that I should go to an emergency facility. I then told her that it would be better if the vet saw her first to make sure this merit emergency room attention since emergency room care is so expensive. She said she could not do anything because they were not an emergency facility and that there was not staff available until 5:00. THEY WERE TAKING THEIR LUNCH BREAK. I told her that I did not understand this response since my dog is a patient of the practice and as I understand if something happens to my dog during office hours I need to take her to her vet first before going to the emergency room. She repeated she could not do anything. I then said that I would like to come at 5 pm to get my dog seen by the vet and she told me I could go but she did not know if I could be seen because they were booked for the day. Now, I would like to ask Dr. Perry, Dr. Mattson and Dr.Wardell, how is this possible? How can your staff be so insensitive to a patient's needs when they need them the most? How can you deny care to a dog that is your patient and needs you? This attitude is absolutely incomprehensible and unacceptable. How can I take my dog to a practice that does not show the least amount of compassion for her when she needs it the most? I encourage everyone looking for a vet for their dog to think about this when choosing the right vet for your dog. When I decided to come to this practice I thought I was going to find a practice that was compassionate and kind. Obviously, I was wrong. The place who was supposed to have the back of my dog when she needed it the most left her alone and let me scrambling to find someone to help me as fast as possible, Fortunately, through making some calls and talking to some experienced friends I was able to stop the bleeding and now she is better. Thank you for your lack of compassion and unkindness Pawsitive Veterinary!

Dr. Perry is the best!!!!! She is the most fair pup doc I know...my husband and I had the massive run around with every vet in ny trying to figure out a massive skin problem on our pooch...Dr. Perry could have done the same thing (with biopsies and tests running up bills that the average person can't afford) instead she took one look at her and said to change her food. She was right and she didn't even charge us. She is the most honest vet around... Love the staff too!!!!

I've been coming to this vet here and there for my Yorkie and would normally have Dr. Perry for a checkup. I noticed my dog had some lumps on her chest and took her in. Unfortunately Dr. Perry was booked so I had Dr. Chilla. Immediately she was so excited at how cute my dog was and I liked that she seemed to love animals. She took an aspiration of the lumps and said to come back for a recheck. In the meantime, she had called to say that my dog had breast cancer. I looked at the report emailed to me and it didn't seem definite whether it was malignant or not. I went back for the recheck to do bloodwork and xrays to see if the cancer had spread to lymph nodes. Her technician(older blonde haired woman) brings her out from the back room holding her as she sat down talking to me which I thought was weird. I took my dog from her and placed her on the ground and immediately noticed my dog was holding up her right hind leg while she was walking. I asked her about it and the technician claimed that my dog pulled her joint out of place while they were trying to hold her down as she was hard to be restrained. She was NOT being forthcoming about this at all when she brought her out. She was acting really casual. My Yorkie has a lot of energy but the other doctor(Dr. Perry) never had any issues with her in the past. *Please also note that my dog is no more than 5lbs and is very small.* I asked to speak to Dr. Chilla and all she said was that the type of breed my dog was was prone to luxating patellas. My Yorkie limped occasionally when she ran but never constantly as she both walked and ran. However, MY DOG LIMPED CONTINUOUSLY FROM THAT DATE (10/14/16) AND STILL IS TO THIS DATE(12/5/16). They did offer a recheck with free xrays to see exactly what was going on with my dog's joints but every time I go back they put it off because "she has so much energy she can't be restrained". This in itself baffles me because to be a vet it is inevitable that a vet or a technician would have to deal with big animals, sometimes even vicious ones. How in the world is a little 5lb dog unable to be held down compare to whatever troublesome animals they deal with?! I did see Dr. Perry a few weeks ago because I thought I would get a separate opinion about this. She also kept telling me that they're putting off the xrays because she's afraid my dog needed to be put on sedatives to calm her down. I honestly felt like my dog's case was washed from their hands at that point. Dr. Perry out of all people went along with what Dr. Chilla was saying even though she had dealt with my dog many times in the past. I emailed them 2 weeks ago to set up a recheck appointment and a week later I had to CALL them to set up the appointment. I never received an appointment confirmation email and was not given a reminder call the day before or even the day of to let me know I was late. This is bull****! It's so unprofessional and insulting to think that a client wouldn't recognize they didn't get a courtesy reminder on purpose. I was pretty calm about it the entire time and never once argued with them but now I'm furious and disappointed that they would give me the run around and avoid my dog's case altogether. Bottom line is I don't even trust them enough to bring my dog back for any type of cancer treatment OR anything. You just never know what happens in that back room when they do bloodwork, xrays, etc on your pet. I walk away with now ONE MORE EXTRA issue for my Yorkie. NEVER AGAIN!

I recently got a dog and I decided to take him for a check up, specially after I realized that he was losing fur from his tail. I researched so many different options and read so many reviews before I made a call to this place. I got a same day appointment (wow!!) got there just on time and they were all very kind and nice with Zeus(despite the fact that he's a 9 months old PitBull with no respect for rules) We saw a technician and a doctor just few minutes later, they check him, gave me great advise regarding his training and were all very nice with us, even show me how to clean Zeus's ears. I love it and we are definitely coming back to this place to see Dr Belvedere again.

Incompetent and dangerous. We brought our cat in with a fever of 106, they gave her fliud injection because she was dehydrated and sent us home with what they said was antibiotics. After 3 days of no improvement we came back and gave us more of the same medicine. I googled it to see what the side effects were and it turned out to NOT be an antibiotic, it was just essentially cat asprin. They nearly killed my cat because they forgot to give her the antibiotics.

Ben Fino-Radin

Completely sub-par in every way. Impossible to get them on the phone, the customer service generally lacks even in person, the place is NOT clean, and just today a technician almost administered a vaccine in the wrong place (until being corrected by his colleague). Last time I’ll be coming here.

Incredibly helpful. My partner and I have been through so much for traveling with my pets from NY. The USDA service is the actual worst in the history of bad systems but PAWsitive stuck together with us through thick and thin. I can’t be more grateful of their efforts. Overall in-clinic experience is also welcoming warming and informative.

Hani Musallam

Good experience with my dog. Listened to my concerns with my aging dog and we came up with a long term plan. Update: Had an emergency visit last week and they were awesome. A bit of a wait because they were so busy but they made time for me and my dog and took great care of us. The doctor was awesome and called and followed up with us twice the week after to see how my dog was. They are great.

They're always so kind and helpful here. They definitely care about your pets. Im lucky that it's just a few blocks away because I haven't had the best experiences with other vets in the area. I would 10/10 recommend this vet to anyone.

1st time bringing our puppy (he's really 6yrs old) and we couldn't be happier. Everyone was super nice and were very gentle with our dog. Also I really liked the fact that my wife and I weren't scared into any sort of treatment or anything for our dog. The vet told us what our dog needed and recommended other shots as well, which was nice. If you're in the area and looking for a Vet this place is great!

When it was time to take our elderly fur-baby on her "last walk", the staff was kind and supportive. They made our last goodbye less painful.

Dr. Perry is the most amazing vet I know. I am moving to Philadelphia at the end of the month and I'll be driving up to NYC annual for my dog's annual exam! She's THAT good. Honest. Caring. Affordable. Passionate. Professional.

Dr Chilla and Dr Perry have been so accommodating. I have been going to Pawsitive for about a year now and I've been pleased with every visit (as I have 2 cats that have to go to the vet a lot). The prices seem fair and the vets are willing to work with you and respond to emails etc... I'm moving in a month and praying I can find another veterinarian practice that comes close to Pawsitive. I'll miss the vets and the friendly staff very much.

The office is nice and clean, albeit a bit small. For this reason, you should absolutely make an appointment beforehand and be on time or even early for it. The yearly vaccine cost, general checkups and most medications are fairly priced, just email or call them beforehand if you want a general estimate. They do not perform surgical procedures without an appointment and there are some very specific things that they can't do so definitely give them a call or leave a voice mail to ask about stuff like that.

I chose this place based on positive reviews from the neighbors in the Ditmas Park, Midwood Park area when first looking for vets. I went with my older dog to see Dr. Perry, and liked the experience. Fast forward, about a month later around March 2014, Perry was away at the time, and I saw the vet Chilla. In the room, the vet technician weighed my dog, which at the time was five months old, and about two pounds. I had with me, all the papers from the breeder so the vet can see what shots she's previously had. Chilla enters, (first time we meet) she's praising my dogs cuteness and high energy. All of a sudden I see a needle being removed from her body. It happened so fast. There was no discussion of "Hi, your dog is missing XYZ, etc." I asked what it was after and she tells me she needed one more shot. What that shot was she did not say. So in short she just gave my dog a vaccine without asking! Now what if I had no money for the vaccine, or had questions or concerns, nothing! I left the vet feeling uneasy about 1) not being given the choice as pet owner to decide if I want my dog to be given ANYTHING whether it be a shot, a treat, 2) To my understanding from the breeder and papers provided she was up to date. Fast forward I got an evaluation done from a clinic which has a specialist, a neurologist that Pawsitive recommended. Emailed Chilla after the findings and not only did it go from I'm sorry I gave your dog a shot, but then it changed to "You probably didn't hear I was going to give her a shot." I am not a nonchalant owner. I ask questions especially when it comes to my fur baby and my actual child. In short I hate liars and people who do not like to take responsibility for their mistakes. My dog is still affected after a year later. Have not gotten an official apology from the main vet from this establishment or a follow up as to how my pet is doing. Like all places you might see a plethora of positive reviews but now I have learned to REALLY pay attention to the negative ones. Run from this place!

Pricey but good spot. The vets are super nice just scheduling is sucky at times. Making an appt. Can some times be annoying; whether there isn't an appt. Until the next 2-3 weeks or when trying to call the front desk and no one answers after 3 days of calling.

Everyone at PAWsitive is deeply invested in both our dog's wellbeing and in our peace of mind. Dr's Perry and Chilla are expert, kind, and communicative. Their staff are helpful and clearly love animals. One of our dogs required surgery to remove a tumor; one required urgent care because of an intestinal disorder. Both times we received loving and expert care. Definitely recommended.

Really scummy, sleazy business practices. Will schedule you for services you did not request and charge you for it without consultation. They will also try to convince you to get services that are unnecessary. They are not looking out for the best interest of your pet but trying to squeeze as much cash as they can out of you. I recommend finding a better, more respectful clinic.

We established primary care for our toy poodle with PAWSitive Veterinary. The staff is incredibly friendly and very good with their patients. They gave Meli all of her vaccinations and each time ensured that we knew what to look for to determine if she's having an allergic reaction. They even provided after-hours phone numbers on a magnet to put on the fridge in case she needed emergency care. Meli started climbing over he playpen while I was at work, and she got into some chicken bones. I took her to PAWSitive and they were great. They took ex-rays to ensure there were no big pieces and then I dropped her off the following day while I was at work so they could observe her. I really like the fact that they email receipts with the puppy's history of care and upcoming vaccinations. I definitely recommend PAWSitive!

I've been taking my dog and cat to see Dr. Courtney Perry for the last 5 or so years and the experience has always been phenomenal. The first time I visited was with my sick kitty and she kindly took me over her lunch break because their schedule was full! She takes her time to explain everything clearly and the notes are detailed in an email that's sent to me after the visit. She is always very clear about how much services cost so I can make educated decisions on how to proceed. I also love that they're online (for appointments) and respond promptly to emails.

My cat was looking pretty sick over the memorial day weekend. I called an in-home veterenary service, but no one was available, (apparently - never got a call or text back from them.) Tuesday AM the receptionist at PAWsitive said I could bring her as a walk-in. The office was quiet when we arrived. A vet-tech took a history and let us know when a vet could see us. 45 minutes later, we were in the exam room with the vet. At all times the staff were cheerful, friendly to both the pets and their humans, and very professional. The vet was quite gentle and caring with my kitty. They were considerate of my finances, and showed me an estimate before proceeding. Overall, a great experience.

Dr. Perry was wonderful. The last vet we went to made us feel guilty that we didn't notice our cat had lost some weight, and she spoke as if our cat was suffering horribly. This other vet listed tests and procedures she wanted to do, casually saying things like "that one costs $900." We found Dr. Perry because we couldn't afford to spend $600 on a test, Dr. Perry charges $310 for the same test. When we went for our first visit before the test, she addressed the issue we actually came for, and when we brought up the problems that the other vet had us panicking about, she patiently explained her thoughts to us, reassured us, made sure we understood everything, and recommended the most affordable ways to deal with the issues. There is nothing glamorous about her office, if you want to be treated like you're at the spa and have photo books of "Wet Dogs" to look at while you wait, go spend twice as much somewhere else. My one complaint (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that the phone is rarely answered without a long wait, they suggest you leave a voicemail instead, and the last time I left a voicemail they never called me back. Overall I'm very glad we found Dr. Perry.

I brought my beautiful and well loved 10 year old cat, Ziggy to Pawsative as an emergency the Friday before last..She had begun to bite her back right leg..and I was very concerned. They made room for us as an emergency..and were very gentle with Ziggy..Dr. Chilla took X rays after examining Ziggy, and it was determined that Ziggy probably had Osteosarcoma....Ziggy also had a heart murmur..and she patiently and sensitively explained the outlook and choices for a treatment plan. I was not sure we could afford chemo and radiation, and Dr. Chilla sensitively gave me pain meds for Ziggy, and was supportive of my taking Ziggy home to decide what I could afford to do, given the prognosis..She even printed out information which was detailed for me..and cared so much about what happened to Ziggy. A week later, Ziggy was in pain, we could not afford chemo, and with Ziggy's heart murmer, and present condition she might have not been able to have the amputation. Dr. Chilla and her staff were amazing , understanding, kind and sensitive ..while putting Ziggy to sleep. Wrapped Ziggy in the blanket I brought ..injected her with something that erased Ziggy's pain and made her very happy, put her favorite toy mouse in her paw,..Ziggy was warm, loved and comfortable at the end. I was hugged and left alone to say my goodbyes for as long as I needed. I was only charged for cremation to my surprise and gratitude. I cannot recommend PawSitive Veterinary enough..and especially want to thank Dr. Chilla and staff for support, expertise and outstanding sensitivity to us in our time of need!

I LOVE the vets at Pawsitive! They are very kind, and most importantly, they love your pets. Other places I've taken my dog to before have rushed me in and out and don't take time to make my dog feel secure. Pawsitive takes time with your pet to make them feel comfortable and safe, and they answer all of your questions thoroughly. They even called me recently to follow up about how my dog is doing after needing urgent care for swallowing tin-foil. I feel so lucky to have these wonderful people taking care of my dog.

Took our dog here for the first time since we moved to bk from Virginia. Service was very polite and vet and assistant were professional and knowledgeable. Made us feel comfortable with our doggo's new vet. He seemed to have an ok time as well (as much as a dog can at the vet lol). Love how close it is to our apartment, we can just walk over in 10 min.
