Dr. Tsung is an amazing vet. She went out of her way to try to find a way to save our Jane - even contacted other vets that specialize. She feels deeply for the animals she treats and for their people. She never pressured us and she gave us choices in the treatment.

Cons: Don’t do it. Brought my cat home with a swollen eye and an unexplained scar on her back below her neck that eventually became swollen and caused her to lose her hair in that spot. Mind you the trip cost nearly 900$, which I realize the people I dealt with lost their initial drive for helping animals and are in it for the business. The vet techs aren’t listed on the website but they work directly with Jennifer Tsoung. One of the tall male techs with long thin black colored hair was emotionless. The coldest one is a shorter woman with green eyes that works in the basement. Good luck with the woman at the front desk who is constantly making some weird throat scratching noise hoping to argue with you if possible. I went back a second time and confronted Jennifer Tsoung about the swollen eye and the scar that led to hair loss and her explanation for the swollen eye was “getting popped in the eye.” Also had no explanation for the scar. Tried to muster up a lie but ended up with nothing. Also had to ask the vet tech -with the green eyes- that works in the basement, to leave after walking in with a giant towel and nearly suffocated my cat to simply put her on the scale. She tried telling me that my cat was going to attack me also and at that point I realized she was completely out of touch. After she left I was able to put her on the scale with ease and she was calm. An extremely bizarre and cold place. The one light in that office is Jackie. If you must go ask for Jackie to assist you. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

My daughter's experience there was not a good one ,she had gotten a diagnosis that was not correct her hamster passed away a week later I wanted to write this because the hamster meant a lot to my daughter and I just wish that the vet would have been sympathetic and spoke the truth instead of trying to make more money.

I had a dying FIV cat, one I'd had a long time. He was failing, but then I knew he was close to the end. I'd wanted him to die at home, but realized -- as the weekend approached -- that couldn't happen. I'd not been to this office, but it is close to my home, and I was able to get an appointment quickly. Everyone was lovely: front desk staff, the kind vet tech and the vet herself. I wasn't rushed. I held my old kitty for a long time after his sedation. When the time came for his final injection, I put my head on his head and wept. Both professionals were quietly emphatic and respectful. I feel very, very grateful for their service.

My dogs Rhino & Marley have been taken care of in this clinic for about 2 years now by dr Jennifer Tsung for serious skin condition and I will not go anyplace else, they are the best , I trust their judgment, they are the most caring as well as the technicians and front desk staff, when my dog rhino suddenly got so sick I took him there and to be honest I didn’t think he was going to make it that’s how bad his condition was and dr Tsung took so good care of him, and Marley as well, she gives the best advice and she knows exactly what medication to prescribe and they work , i will not go anyplace else for care of my pets, my experience is always wonderful, this place is a gem

The staff at Inwood animal clinic are knowledgeable and helpful. It can get really crowded though.

Took my dog Charlie to the clinic twice in the same day, once for a tick removal and then later for an unrelated allergic reaction. Charlie was seen almost immediately both times. The staff were very friendly and were very patient with both of us and answered all my questions. Charlie left feeling a lot better both times, and so did I. The price for treatment was very affordable both times. I highly recommend this clinic to all pet owners.

Been going to Dr. Tsung with my cats for years. She's very knowledgeable and caring. The staff is courteous, warm and professional.

Mark Hildreth

Great vet! Remembers my dog and cat, genuinely cares about their condition, reasonably priced, and easy to make an appointment.

Michael Kling

One of the best vets I've ever used. They genuinely care about your pets and have the best interest of both pet and owner in mind.

Inwood Animal Clinic is a great place to bring your pets. I moved to Inwood from the UWS, and have brought my dog to Inwood Animal Clinic for the last 3 years. They are professional, kind, and always call to see how my dog is doing after any visit. It is super cute. He goes in for a grooming, and like clock work, the next day I get a call to just check on Miloh. He really hates being groomed and is a nervous little dog, so they are checking on his feelings as much as his physical state. I think it shows how much they love and care for animals, that even call after the grooming appointments. Miloh has had all his regular checkups there, he has had vaccinations done, and also his dental cleaning (deep cleaning that required sedation). I have never had an issue with the staff or the doctors. A few times, new front desk staff or less senior front desk staff may not have been as outstanding as some of the more seasoned staff. But quickly, as they train up, the same standard of care is given. Regardless, I have always been treated with respect. I have sent my friends there and they also, were treated with respect. The clinic is clean and all services are reasonably priced. All vets are just expensive everywhere, and if you aren't prepared for the cost of paying full price for medical care (if you don't have pet medical insurance), you might be like

Inwood Animal Clinic is wonderful!! The check-in staff, vet techs, and Dr. Shimel were all extremely kind, helpful, and very thorough. Being new to the neighborhood, I was very diligent in my online review research, as well as speaking to the MANY dog owners I crossed paths with while out walking my dog, Buddy. Everyone I met highly recommend Dr. Shimel and/or Inwood Animal Clinic. I'm glad I listened!! The staff even called me back twice when I needed to pick up his meds. Since Buddy is diabetic, blind, and will celebrate his 13th Birthday on New Year's Day, I'm always concerned that Vets will either get "test happy" and take advantage of my wallet, since Buddy is also my service animal and only child, or proclaim him "old and let nature take it's course" (that opinion came from the NYC ASPCA Clinic!!). Dr. Shimel was very thorough, discussed which blood work was needed, and a few expensive tests that were not. He gave me a tip on how best to deal with Buddy's glaucoma (not thru expensive eye drops he could have prescribed), so when the glaucoma clears we can discuss surgery for removal of cataracts so he can see again! While the total bill was not cheap, I found it reasonable in comparison with other Vets in both NYC, and other large cities. I'm so very happy to have found such a wonderful Veterinarian, and clinic staff close to my new Apt. They emailed me a copy of his blood work results, AND the doctor called to discuss the tests as well - and patiently answered all of my questions! The only drawback I can find, is they aren't open 24/7. But since I have emails of Buddy's medical record and blood test results, should their ever be an after hours emergency, I can easily give Buddy's medical history! I HIGHLY recommend Inwood Animal Clinic.

They treat you like family. There pricing is more then fair an they really take grate care of your four legged friend.

Don’t like this place, they love over charging and charging for things that are obviously not needed. After experiencing that with them recently and I mean recently like days ago I went here to Google Maps reviews and saw that other people also experienced the same problems where they are being charged and having their pets examined for things I don’t need to be examined for. I’m going to do my best to have this place evaluated by the state! They need to be watched! They need to act like they care about a life and not treat everything like a bill!!!

This was my first visit to this vet with my four year old Chihuahua and my four month old Chihuahua. I must say, I did quite a bit of research on vets in the area prior to deciding to try Inwood Animal Clinic. Unlike other vet offices I have visited recently, the staff at this office seemed very warm and happy to assist. They didn't appear to be overworked which is a very common appearance lately, and everyone appeared to be happy to be there. As soon as we signed in, I immediately went to the restroom and was back at the desk in just a few minutes. My dogs had already been called to the back with the other parent!! Talk about an amazing move for first impression!! Not only were the employees very attentive and helpful, Doctor Jennifer Tsung was the epitome of the ideal doctor. She made us feel very welcome and comfortable, she seemed to be very genuine with her answers to all questions, and most importantly, we were not rushed. The next day, I received an email offering online account access for our account with the clinic, and I must say that it is as good as any online banking or utility website. VERY cool!!! I am one of the most critical customers an establishment can have (and for good reason). I am also one of the most loyal. They have a very good operation at this clinic, and we REALLY hope to see them stick around forever while maintaining this awesome level of service. Thank you Inwood Animal Clinic for giving us complete peace of mind regarding the healthcare of our boys.

My first experience here was super uncomfortable as I felt the assistant to the vet was trying to sell me treatments, medication, and why I should get all of my puppy’s vaccination again because he was too young the first time (first 2 rounds were done elsewhere). I had an appointment again tonight for my pups last round of vaccines. Albeit I got there 10 mins late but they rushed him in and was about to administer him vaccines WITHOUT HIS MEDICAL RECORDS. When I told them that you guys don’t have his records yet and what are you administering to him without even telling me? They then went and got the correct vaccinations. What the actual hell?! After they were done, I went to the front to pay and noticed my pups eyes and face were swelling up. I brought this to the attention of the assistant and they took him to the back and administered yet another shot... without telling or asking me. I don’t even know what they gave him. I was told to wait in the front and 5 minutes later, the assistant came out and within 2 swift seconds told me this is antihistamine and gave him yet another shot without asking me. Who does that? While waiting for my pups face to go down, the receptionist walks over to give me a card with the number and address to a 24 hour emergency clinic. I will never again visit this place. Extremely insensitive, running what seems like a sales operation, and staff that has no idea how to deal with pet owners.

Juan

This is not our primary veterinarian but we took our pet in for emergency care (not life threatening just needed to be addressed immediately and our regular vet is not for emergency care) and we couldnt have been treated with more respect and concern for our pet. Service was quick, we were shown all our options for treatment along with pricing and were given the decision to keep or remove whatever we felt we didn't need (xrays, etc..), free treats were provided at reception and so were cans of bland dog food (included with treatment).

Dr. Tsung is a caring and knowledgeable vet. Worth every penny!

I took my cat in because she had been vomiting and sneezing. They ran a respiratory panel on her and sent me home with antibiotics ($60). When they called with the results a couple of days later, I was told that she had an infection that required a different antibiotic, so I had to come in and purchase that one. I was not thrilled to have spent $60 on the first antibiotic that wasn't even treating what she had... Dr. Tsung also recommended that I start my cat on a preventative diet for renal care. I accordingly purchased a couple of cans of the special food and was shocked when I took them home to read the ingredients--corn, animal byproducts, etc. I really couldn't believe that a vet would recommend this diet. Luckily I moved out of Inwood and my cat's new vet reviewed her tests and found no reason for early renal support. He was also able to find the true cause of her vomiting and sneezing which had nothing to do with antibiotics. Also, I pay much less at the new vet, which is in a much more expensive area of the UWS. I'm sure there are worse vets out there than Inwood Animal Clinic but I'd recommend looking farther afield if you can. It's worth it to travel for quality care.

I've been looking for a veterinarian. I already have a great vet, but the location is far from where I live and I don't have a car. I went the Inwood Animal Clinic because my dog wasn't pooping. I was asked by the veterinarian if I had any experience/ knowledge of how to care for a dog. I explained the it's been some years since I've cared for a dog. She had a list of things she wanted to do in order to make a proper diagnosis for my dog, ...X-ray. IV, etc. She even recommended I give my dog medications. If I took her suggestions my bill would've been over $500. Since I knew some of her suggestions were unnecessary I declined them. I left still feeling like I was overcharged. It felt like I was at a used car dealership being hustled. Once home I gave my dog some homemade chicken and rice. This suggestion came from the veterinarian that's far from where we live. I was told to bring her in if that didn't help. Didn't cost a dime. Tummy problems went away without IV, medication, etc. Never going back there again.

Deplorable and disgracedul services. Took a dying kitten in. They offered a test and diagnosis for everything under the sun, but did not seem to offer a solution for the fact that the kitten was excreting and vomiting worms... until after administering expensive tests for cancer and other things. When the kitten died they wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars for a cremation. I am thankful for the one professional who offered a free group cremation, but even that option was kept secret until the last second. When my older cat got sick from the deceased kitten, the cycle repeated. Hundreds of dollars gone for silly tests when the local vet trucks healed my cat with simple medications. This place is true evil. Be warned.

This place is Great!! I called and got an appointment right away. They really cared about my dog who was in a lot of pain. Explained all options and even called me the next morning to see how he was doing. Clean facility and very friendly staff.

Yennifer Medrano

They are the best!!! I take my baby boy here all the time. They are super friendly. & they work around your budget. Compared to the other vets ive took my boy... this one is the best one and its close to home. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who lives in dyckman/inwood ...They’re awesome and they care!!

Marsha Howard

I took to Dr Tsung a pup with an uncharacteristically bad tummy. I was boarding her and wanted to take no chances. Despite a busy day I got an appt. Everyone on the staff and in the waiting room was lovely. Pup had a good check up, went home with appropriate meds, and was fine. Good, reliable practices.

Marie Aldrich

Very friendly and knowledgable staff, very compassionate. We were in NYC staying with our son in Washington Heights due to my daughter’s health. Her service dog got very sick and we needed to find a vet. They took my records I had with me, contacted our vet in AR, and worked hard to try to save his life. When he worsened to the point we had to put him to sleep, they were so compassionate and helped us through a very painful day.

Frandi Garcia

Do not trust them. They claim to give medicine but really it makes the problems worst. My sister brought her dog there once and the medicine they provided ended up taking her dogs life. They only care about money and dont care about the pets life. Please dont make the same mistake we did by trusting them.

Norma Toribio

Very good and efficient service, only thing is that you need to be prepared to spend money, anything has to be done to your pets is lots of money out of your pocket.

Logan E

Decent clinic we take out Dog and Cat here, they are pretty friendly. The doctors and staff really seem to care about you and your pets. The biggest issue I have is that no matter what you want them to do, your animal has to have a physical if it's within just a few weeks.

Krystal Garcia

Great vets here. Truthful & honest. They never sell you things you don't need. Receptionist are nice and friendly. Everyone here really loves animals.

The three stars are for Dr. Mann who was very good, knowledgeable, and very patient. And very nice person as well. The lack of two other stars is for the people doing the booking - they need to do better. It did occur to me that there may be a head office that insists on this overbooking, but in all honestly I sat there for 45 minutes watching the two ladies at the front desk, and all the other people who stopped by their desk to chat and kid around. I decided to write this review just so maybe the people who run the place can understand why I decided not to go back. My first rule is that my time is as important to me as theirs is to them - I do not wait for more than 45 minutes for any appointment. Ever. My second observation is that if a place of business overbooks, I have to wonder how much time they will have for me or my pet? I have a feeling that if there are a bunch of people waiting, they will tend to hustle and try to get to everyone. My last appointment was set for 3:45 PM, I heard the Doctor ask one of the ladies for a time. As I always do, I showed up 15 minutes early. There was a man already there - no idea what time his appointment was for, but clearly he was there longer than me, and at minimum he, too, had to wait 45 minutes or more. He was taken care of much later than his appointment, I was next but the waiting area had filled up by that time - this bothers me as I must assume they will try to cycle through the customers as quickly as possible to satisfy everyone. This is worrisome, which is why I left and decided to look for a Vet somewhere else. Thank you for reading.

I recently had the unenviable task of having one of my cats euthanized. The staff at Inwood was very kind and helpful. Two weeks later, staff called to inform that my cat's paw print was ready for pick up. I had not ordered this, and it represented $18, so I asked for a credit to my account (and got it). I hope this was a one-time accident, rather than a routine adding of charges when the customer's emotional state is such that a charge goes unnoticed. This once happened to me with another animal clinic (in another city).

Corby Lambert

The vet here is very nice and legit. Don't plan on making an appointment as they treat walk-ins and appointments on a first come first serve basis. Since they are a good vet clinic they stay busy on the weekends.

Juan Rodriguez

Great attention to pet's need, some people complain about price, but if you love your pet that should not be a issue

Diane Hill

The physician is really great. She listen to you when you ask questions and let you make the final decision as to what you feel is best for your animal

Yesenia Garcia

I was looking for a Veterinerian for my puppy and was very diligent in my online review research as well as looking at the reviews about this clinic. Since the clinic is not far from where I live I decided to give it a try and book an appointment for my two months old puppy. When I arrived to the clinic on my appointment date I was very displeased about the lack of attention by the front desk staff. There was a young woman who did not even take the time to greet me or ask me why I was in the office. I had to introduce myself and let her know I had an appointment scheduled. At this point she instructed me to have a seat , but around 8 minutes later I had to ask her if there was a paper work that I needed to complete since it was my first time in the clinic with my pet. She handed me a board to complete the new patient registration form and after I completed the form did not even ask me if I was ready. I placed it on the desk and it just remained there. I was about to leave the place but at that instant my pets name was called. I was called by the veterinarian ‘s assistant Marisol and she treated me very well. She was friendly , knowledgeable and handled my puppy with a lot of care. She was able to answer some questions that I have with lots of paciente and care. Within a few minutes later , Dr. Shimel arrived. He was very friendly, extremely kind, helpful, and very thorough. He answered all my questions and was very kind to my pet. I really appreciate Dr Shimel for changing the impression I had first encountered based on the front desk experience and to Marisol as well for being courteous , professional and taking good care of my puppy. Other than the experience at the front desk , I really appreciate the Doctor care & will be returning. The doctor was knowledgeable & friendly. As well as gentle with my pet. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. I gave 4 stars because of the front desk experience.

Very busy so even you make an appointment you need to wait over 30 minutes. (Maybe only Saturday)but I can see doctors and staff love animals. And waiting area is very small.

Ryne K

They have taken good care of my elderly cat. Have been a customer for 1 year and $2,000 to $3,000. Would recommend but make sure to read my notes below. Pro: -Good hours including Saturday and late on Tuesday -Have medicine in stock -Have done a good job to keep my cat alive Cons: -Once gave me mislabeled medication which may have contributed to my cat going blind -Not cheap -Some doctors can be a little pushy about getting expensive procedures done or prescribing expensive medication, even when cheaper options are also available

Michael Burkett

great place! Staff is professional and caring. I would highly recommend taking your pet, they also offer grooming.

Kayla Ramsey

I took my two cats exclusively to this vet for two years. I never had a problem with the service until today, and it was serious enough that I NEVER take my cats back there. In May 2019, we brought our 10-year-old cat for her annual check up and we were told she needed her teeth cleaned and a spot biopsy. This was stressful for us because of the cost ($851) and the risk of sedating an older cat, but we scheduled the procedure because it was in her best interest. Prior to the procedure, I asked specifically who would be performing the procedure. We were assured it would be done by Dr. Jennifer Tsung (who owns the clinic) and we felt comfortable she would be handling it. After picking up our cat after the procedure, I returned home and everything went from fine to horrifying. My cat had a bandage on her front leg the catheter. I took it off, but the catheter was still in her leg! The needle and tube was in her vein and hanging down, and her paw blood streaks that hadn't been cleaned off it! I didn’t know what to do! My cat was so shaken by the whole experience and by me trying to get a better look at the catheter, she starting running through the apartment, stepping on and jostling the catheter so it started leaking. Keep in mind, there was not a lot of blood, but there was smeared blood on her paw, on our floor, and on my arm--it was a shocking experience and caused major panic to see that. My cat was very distressed going back into the carrier and on the long walk back to the vet, but there was no other option. When I got there, I told the receptionist and technician what had happened. While my cat was whisked away again to get the catheter taken out, the technician was trying to save face in front of other clients and brought me into an empty room to apologize for the error. After my cat and I left the clinic (still distressed, but needle-free), my partner was upset to hear about the error (and that the vet herself didn’t even talk to me or apologize), he called the clinic. He was not angry, but he was firm and demanded to talk to Dr. Tsung. She apologized, but didn’t seem to take responsibility. When he talked to her, she disclosed we had been lied to by the receptionist: she did NOT perform the operation. In fact, to add insult to injury, during the phone conversation, she kept referring to our cat as a dog! How can you trust someone like that--someone who made a serious error (even if it was technician who didn’t take out the catheter, that’s her employee and she should be supervising)? How incredibly uncaring that she couldn’t even take a second to pull up our file to get the species of our pet right? Might I remind you, all this happened in a single day--it’s not like time went by and she may have forgotten the patient or the incident. Please note that everyone I encountered was kind. They apologized. And I has to accept that because what else can I do in the moment? But they are simply not competent. My cat could have gone into shock from the needle and we were told she will have extra bruising because they forgot to take it out in a timely manner. I had already paid for the removal of my cat’s paw stitches in two weeks, but after that I will NEVER set foot in there again. It’s just not safe. My cats are too precious to me to leave them in the care of people who (1.) Lie to my face about who will be treating them just to make me feel more secure. (2.) Fail to remove a catheter from my cat, causing panic, stress, and inconvenience. (3.) Don’t even care enough in a critical conversation to get my pet’s species correct. Really? I just spent $851 and you can’t feign professionalism? It was THE most dysfunctional experience ever. Sorry, fool me once, shame on you. I won’t be sticking around for something to happen again. It’s simply not acceptable for my cat’s care.

Feliciana Venezian Vargas

The people who work in this clinic are very nice! The veterinarian who checked up on my cat because of a vomiting issue was very gentle, offered us tips and was willing to listen. It’s a small clinic but rather comfy, and clean. I can trust these people with my pet and that’s the utmost important thing i look for when reviewing a veterinary clinic.

John Michael Bradshaw

The place is a little small, but the Staff and Doctors are very friendly, easy to talk to and joke with, and know exactly what they are doing. I brought my cat in for a worm check and vaccination updates. He's a pretty difficult cat, but they worked with him very easily and took really good care of him. We were in and out within an hour, only because we had to wait for test results. The cost was lower than I was expecting, considering he had a test, two shots, and then a medication added on. I definitely recommend Inwood Animal Clinic to anyone who lives in Inwood/Washington Heights.

Valerie Clark

In walking distance, you can always get an appointment, all the staff and doctors are great, and they also have grooming on site.

We have had many good experiences with our dog at Inwood Animal Clinic. Dr. Tsung has been fantastic. She really cares and is very knowledgeable. The clinic has been very clean every time we have gone. The staff have also been very caring and willing to go the extra mile to try to help our dog feel comfortable as much as possible. We have never had to wait very long. I highly recommend Dr. Tsung.

Wesley

The best vet uptown. When we got our puppy in December, all our friends and neighbors said we had to go to Inwood Animal Clinic for his care. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. You can tell they really care, and remember our puppy's name each time he comes in. They love animals!

Eugene Easter

A great place to take your pet for good and well treated animal care

Lisbeth

I like Inwood Animal Clinic, my two cats not so much. From vaccines, to grooming Inwood Animal Clinic pretty much does it all. The staff is very professional, polite and friendly and will go over anything that may be confusing. Great service!

J Axel

Quick service and very professional. My cat was not feeling well and the staff at the Inwood animal clinic took the time to properly diagnose her. She is now feeling a lot better. The prices are also very reasonable.

Best animal clinic so far and I've been to 4 different places. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very nice

Evemarie otero

Not very knowledgeable with parrots and exotic animals but Mr Fried assisted me with my Quaker Parrot Lucky and he was very friendly and helpful.

Matt Olley

Amazing doctors and amazing staff

G Caceres

Not sure if they're off worked or just over it ... My recent visit not only cost me a pretty penny but my dear fluff paw friend is still not himself and all I got from the doctor was a list with pricing of course of tests they should run to see if they can find out what's going on . Mind you had been there last week for his shots and he was out in two seconds because they had a busy Saturday smh

Briana McDew

Treated my loved ones with care and affection. Thank you. Sometimes I believe they over extend themselves because at times I've dealt with 2-3 doctors and each one would say something a bit different. Other than shuffling the many clients they have, I would recommend they extend their hours on the weekdays.

James Presser

The doctor was knowledgeable & friendly. As well as gentle with my pet. The front desk staff are courteous too. I really appreciate them all & will be returning. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

My kitten was not a patient at this clinic, but when our usual vet was unable to see us, I called Inwood Animal Clinic on a Saturday and they made an appointment for us. We saw Dr. Schimel and he was spectacular - very straight forward and to the point but definitely has a wonderful bedside manner. Our kitten was quite ill and Dr. Schimel made it clear what tests were needed and what the best path forward would be. We received several calls in the coming week from the office regarding lab test results. While we eventually had to put our kitten to sleep, Dr Schimel and the entire staff was wonderful, caring, compassionate, and understanding. They made a very terrible process much easier (and affordable). I cannot recommend these fine folks highly enough. They are truly amazing.

Great staff, sometimes there's a wait but they keep it moving.

They take great care of our cat, and everyone treats her gently while doing what needs to be done.

Dr. Tsung is great, the Vet Techs are always friendly, and we feel confident in their ability to monitor our cat's health. Can be a long wait on Saturdays, but fellow pet-owners are generally happy to chat and pass the time sharing adorable pet stories.

The staff here is very knowledgeable and take great care and responsibility for your pet. They even offer great advise for better care. Only problem being they are not open every day and their hours means you might need to skip work in order to see them.

This place was great. Took time to teach me how to clean ears and clip nails. The staff was great as well as the vet. I felt like Bobby was being taken care of by family.

Nicole

Great clinic, very attentive and takes good care of my cat. They call up with results quickly.

William Crumlic
