So grateful to this animal hospital! My pup needed to see a vet unexpectedly for an infection on a Saturday afternoon. After calling several vets in the area, First Avenue Veterinary Hospital was able to fit me in. The staff members were understanding, friendly, efficient and clearly love the animals. Facilities clean and calming. The vet explained treatment options in detail and made sure I knew costs before making a decision. I was pleasantly impressed and relieved to find them! Highly recommend them.

Great experience here taking one of my foster dogs for a checkup. I foster for SocialTeesNYC and this was my first time having to take one of them to the vet for any reason other than a drop off for a neuter. WHV was amazing. They have coffee and tea piping hot waiting for you, the facility is clean - all rooms I visited were meticulously clean and in order. The staff is wonderful, from reception to vet tech to the vets. Thorough and friendly. Talkative and empathetic. You can tell they enjoy each others company, which creates an amicable atmosphere that is great for patients and patients parents. The receptionist knew each animal who came through the door by name -- so sweet. I am a transplant from Long Island, and though I live in Astoria, I would certainly consider using them for my 2 pups if something in the future arose or possibly for future vet annual visits. Highly recommend.

PLACE HAS RECENTLY CHANGED HANDS , NEW VET HAS TERRIBLE BED SIDE MANNER AND IS APPARENTLY MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HER PAYMENT THEN THE WELFARE OF THE ANIMAL IN DISTRESS

I have been taking my dog Jeffrey for months now and Dr Poller and all the staff are so caring and friendly, it is always the best experience that it can be!

My dog and cat have been going to Dr. Poller for a couple of years now. We live in Prospect Heights. When she became the owner of First Avenue Veterinarian Hospital, we didn't think twice about whether or not we would follow her to her new home in the city (even though it's a bit of a hike for us). The care and attention she gives to our animals, and us (humans) is unlike any other vet in town. She is careful with them, careful with us, and always makes us feel like our family is in the best hands. My dog in particular is very problematic (with broken teeth, heat stroke, skin problems, etc). She keeps him calm and healthy and we are always very grateful. I would recommend Dr. Poller to absolutely anyone.

I bring my two Chihuahuas to First Avenue Veterinary Hospital for all of their care. The staff is always courteous and helpful. I love the flexibility of scheduling appointments online (and they have always squeezed us in when someone is sick). They even send me text/email reminders when the Chi's vaccines and meds are due. Most of all, I feel confident that Dr. Poller and the rest of the team are taking the absolute best care of my little guys. It has been so great to have them right here in the neighborhood.

This vet should lose her license. She overcharges and performs unnecessary procedures. Occasionally charging twice for the same procedure, hoping her patients won't notice that the procedure is supposed to be 1/2 the cost.

My dog was hit by a car as a puppy, so you can imagine my fear of anything happening to this dog again, including him getting sick. After a scary incident over the weekend, I knew I needed to get him into see a vet ASAP but am beyond picky when it comes to where I take him. The entire staff at First Avenue Veterinary Hospital could not have been more helpful, any smarter, warmer or patient with my million questions. They made me feel like I could stay all day asking questions, as I was never rushed or treated as if I was being annoying (and by question 100 I knew I HAD to be at least a little annoying to them... they never showed it!). I can’t recommend this vet enough and if you care about your small furry baby as much as I care about mine, then take a breath and know you couldn’t be in better hands!

New Doctor, new vibe. Dr Poller is smart and compassionate. With 4 dogs and one cat, I could not have asked for a better doctor and practice. Everyone that works for First Avenue Veterinary has been nothing but terrific! We need a good vet in the neighborhood and with so many to choose from, I am glad Dr Poller takes care of my pets. Thanks

First Ave Veterinary Clinic is the best. My lab Piper has seen Dr. Poller and team many times and they are always great. From their attention to detail to utmost care, I️ know I’m always getting the best care for my pup. Dr. Poller always knows what’s best for Piper, from what food she should be eating to the probiotics she should be taking. Also, her new vet Dr. Temple is just lovely. If you need a good vet, First Avenue Veterinary Clinic is the place to go to. They will NOT disappoint!

Dr. Poller is an incredible vet. She took the time to really listen to my concerns and found an occult ear infection in my dog. She also discovered grade 3 patellar luxation in my dog, which explained why my dog randomly sits sometimes during walks. My last vet missed this and it is important that I know. Dr. Poller explained all about the condition and the options for surgery. She spent a long time discussing pros and cons and shared that her own dog had recently had the same surgery. Dr. Poller also filled out an emotional support dog letter so that I can fly with my dog with me in the cabin. Her prices were good for NYC and the quality of service was excellent. I highly recommend her practice.

Staff are extremely friendly but the fee is extremely high. You can make appointment online, on the phone or you can walk in.

Dr. Poller treats my English Bulldog and is incredible - as is the staff. She is not only a great Doctor but also very compassionate and takes time to explain everything and all options. The staff always follows up to see how my dog is doing the day after the appointment. Great experience - highly recommend.

(Translated by Google) Never again. I went to this vet to get the price for neutering a dog needed in NY when you want to keep your pet. Just arrived, I was told that I needed an appointment to get this price ($ 69) and it took about $ 300 for castration, appointment taken a few days later. After 20 minutes of waiting, the veterinarian (cold) auscultate my dog, force my hand to make vaccines again (Vaccines made a year ago and valid for 3 years, she tried to make me believe that they do not were more valid). After the consultation, she tells me that we need to take a blood test (200 dollars), in the event of the operation, but I still do not have the price of castration, I insist explaining that so much that I would not have the price I would not do anything, I was made to wait 15 minutes, then I was told that I would have the price Monday that nobody can give it to me but that I still have to take the blood test, what I refuse. I'm given another 15 minutes, and the assistant arrives giving me a quote and guess! the price for a NEUTERED ranged from $ 550 low price to $ 980 high price. From single to double! Your turn to judge ! (Original) Never again.

I highly recommend Dr. Poller and her staff, they are amazing professionals who care and take time to make sure you understand what is necessary and what's best for you fur-baby. They're awesome and I would not trust just anyone with the care of my fur-baby, only the best for my Tango!!! Thank You Dr. Poller and Your most friendliest Staff, You Guys Rock!!!!

The staff is great. Very personable and knowledgeable. The facilities are clean and spacious. While our dogs aren't terribly keen on making visits to the vet, Dr. Poller and the team make it a positive experience for both humans and pets!

This veterinarian should not be practicing veterinary medicine. In addition to their scamming patients in pricing. If you love your animal find a different vet clinic.

I've been going to First Avenue Vet with my dog for the past two years. The staff is warm and friendly and I've always felt very confident in the vets' opinions—they are careful and detailed, very important since dogs can't say what's wrong! I especially like Dr. Poller. She is very straightforward and honest, which I appreciate. They've helped us understand what's going on with our dog's heart murmur and they are always available—even when we need to come in at the last minute. And when my dog became scared of going to the vet they were very happy to have him come by on our regular walks, fed him treats and helped desensitize him to the place. Their prices seem in line with other vets in the area and when there has been a question about cost they have always been accommodating and helped us figure out the best way forward. The physical offices are very, very clean and professional. I strongly recommend them!

Much better clinic now that Dr. Poller is running things. She’s patient, thorough, and extremely knowledgeable. The staff is very friendly and the place is always clean. They take good care of our animals. Recommend without question.

I came to this place because of the last veterinarian place and their cruel humor of my pet as well as their odd behaviors and theatrics. I don't think any vet should call your pet nasty or joke about it's head needing to be amputated. Since First Ave Veterinary Hospital had a high rating as the last place and because it was convenient, I figured I try them out. Big mistake and will be listed as a bad decision on my part. I went in early before my appointment with my cat and we waited long. Once we finally saw the doctor, our visit with her was less than 5 minutes. I found her to be cold and demanding. She told me it's illegal for me not to give my cat a rabies shot, so I have to do it today! I'm not made out of a money tree and expressed this. She didn't seem to care or work with me at all regarding my finances and what I could afford and not afford. I went in there because my cat ripped off her fur from where her shoulder blades are and left herself bloody. Of course, I was highly concerned. My cat has never done this before. She's bleeding, has scabs and I needed someone to see her. I walked out of this place with a bill close to $700 when all I wanted to know was why my cat had ripped off her fur and left a patch of skin wounded with scratches. She told me I had to do blood work, even though I did so with the other place just a few months ago and everything was fine. She mentioned a skin cytology was needed, a revolution, rabies shot, antibiotics and such. The next day the vet called me to tell me my cat's glucose was elevated, so we should check to see if she has diabetes, which was another $130 bucks. The worst part is I heard a cat wailing off the top of her lungs. I asked the receptionist whose cat is that? It turns out, it was my cat! They had to rub her wound and scrape the scab in order for the skin cytology test to be done. No one told me about the method of the test except for the receptionist. I never heard my cat wail like that! I think they should've prepared me for that and my cat somehow. The vet assistant didn't even explain how to put the revolution on my cat well at all. I had to watch tons of YouTube videos, so I can be certain how to put it on her. I won't be going there again, despite how clean the place is or how nice the receptionist is. It's pretty clear all the doctor cared about is the money.

Dr. Poller is an amazing vet who has cared for my animals for years ! My first cat had to be put down about a year and a half ago due to cancer and despite the horrible feeling you get as an owner, she made me feel better about the situation. Just knowing my beloved cat was under good hands made it a relief. She has also taken care of my female cat who is asthmatic and has skin problems. She used to have an asthma attack everyday & her fur was falling off. Thanks to her practice my cat is better than ever! Dr. Poller prescribed medications for her conditions and we have been able to control her skin issues and breathing issues. My newest edition was neutered by her as well and the incision healed beautifully. She continues to be my cats' vet and will always be. Definitely recommend going to First avenue veterinary hospital !

This past week I took my dog for a tooth cleaning, which we were nervous about since they had to put the dog under anesthesia. From the moment we were greeted at the door as we walked in, you can feel the warmth, care, and love from the staff. They were genuinely happy to see me and my dog, and started to go over exactly what would be happening. Dr. Poller is so delightful and passionate about her work. Even though this was a long day for us, she contacted us during the day to let us our dog did great, and was in recovery. An hour later she contacted us t give us a good time when we can come and pick her up. When we arrived to pick her up we were once again greeted with kindness, and the nurse went over everything with us. Dr. Poller shared with us that as long as they had her under anesthesia they did her nails and took blood for her annual heartworm check which she was do for. What a great team. I just want to note it was also clear that dr.. Poller treats her staff very well. I happened to be there on a busy day and I watched Dr. Poller take over the front desk so that her assistant could have a lunch break. I thought this was really nice. I highly recommend First Avenue Vet, Dr. Poller is a keeper for us!

We have been bringing our pets to see Dr. Poller for over two years, and she is a very caring and compassionate person and a wonderful vet. She truly cares about the animals under her care and the satisfaction of the owners. We have two pugs and she has treated both since we got them, they love going to visit her and seeing all the staff. Ever since Dr. Poller took over, I can see a change for the better with this practice. I am happy that she is now so close and happy to recommend her and the entire staff!

Amazing Veterinary Hospital! After rescuing my dog I researched a few vets and decided to go with First Avenue and Dr. Poller. They got my dog in very quickly and did a full assessment with needed vaccines. The office and it’s staff are so nice and friendly and very clean. They always answer their emails quickly and help with anything you need! They gave me an itemized estimate for my dogs neuter and never pushed me to do extra things for more money. Dr. Poller and her staff are excellent and I would highly recommend! :)
