He and his staff seem like part of my family. I and my pets have ALWAYS been treated with respect, kindness and the BEST health care, for my fur babies, on the highest level. I myself, am in the pet care service business for the past 30 years in the form of dog training and walking and have had entree into many vet offices, animal hospitals and shelters. I am very, very happy with Carnegie Hill Vets. Dr. Miller is wonderful, very conscientious and thorough. My Pekingese had a tumor on her paw that needed to be surgically removed. It was caught early and dr miller made sure to get her in for surgery very quickly. He made sure we came in to change her bandages every couple of days and always checked up on her when his vet tech changed her bandages. His staff is also very good and competent. I am extremely comfortable with the service and support both my dog and I receive. I would highly recommend this veterinary practice. The whole staff is very professional and efficient.

We needed a USDA vet to do meet the health requirements and paperwork before we relocated our dogs overseas. Dr Miller and his staff were beyond helpful. Our dogs are 110 lbs each and can be intimidating when feeling uncomfortable. With his experience, the Dr. realized that one of my dogs grumbled a lot, but was not aggressive. He was warning us that he didn’t approve of what was happening. Our dogs had vaccines, blood drawn, and chips inserted. When it came time for paperwork, we made some mistakes and the office had to redo some paperwork, specific to the transport company, and reissue another because we had already sent the wrong paperwork to Albany. This required extra time from both the dr and the staff. We really appreciate all the help.

We had an emergency situation and Dr. Weismann was wonderful..She was caring and compassionate, she was thorough and very attentive with our 13 yr old Siamese cat. She took her time to listen to our concerns, access our kitty and do a very thorough work-up on him. Never at a time did we feel that she did not have time for us or did we feel rushed. My dogs and cats have been patients of Dr. Alexander Miller's continuously since 1976! There has never been a time when I was without at least one cat or dog. In all this long period, I have never had even the slightest negative experience at CHV; on the contrary, I have only superlatives about Dr. Miller, Dr. Sasha Hilchuck and Dr. Brenda Weissman and I would recommend them to anyone who wants the best possible veterinary care for their furry family members. They all possess uncanny clinical skills and can make diagnoses based on astute questioning and meticulous examinations of your cat or dog. They do not need to recommend thousands of dollars of tests to make the correct diagnosis for what is ailing your pet. In the last few months, my new female Himmie kitten Pari, has had GI problems and has been on and off medications and trying different special diets that Dr. Miller has but that cannot be obtained in pet stores. They greatly help her problems. But what I want to point out is the terrific teamwork that every vet asst and vet tech rendered for my little Pari and also for my other Himmie, Mani, who is five. I have dealt with Kim, Erik, Jack, Merise, Candy, Ericka and Renee the office manager. Everyone relayed all of my messages to the vets as soon as possible and got back to me with their responses. All of the vet staff are so unswervingly dedicated to my Pari and Mani, so professional, so caring. Today (Sat when they close early), I could not come in because I had an MD appt in Brooklyn, so Kim took Pari's special diet and some meds. to the pet store next store for me to pick up later today and she sent me a lengthy email about this and about her conversation today with Dr. Hilchuck about Pari and the concerns I raised to her to ask Dr. Hilchuck about. I really appreciate her taking the time to do all of this on a Saturday, when CHV is so busy and things are so hectic. I recommend highly and without reservation Drs. Alexander Miller, Sasha Hilchuck and Brenda Weissman to all those petowners who want absolutely top vet care for their furry family members. I wait with baited breath for my cats' appts dates to arrive, because I am always treated specially whenever I bring them in and they are always given such great care. I know it was from an overdose, and not reading the charts to see what vaccinations they already had and taking into account their age. I had previously been a customer of Dr Millers for 30 years. The Dr I saw was incompetent and Dr Millers practice has become to big for him to manage

My first time at CHV! I got a very quick appointment and the reception staff was very friendly. When I arrived with my cat, I didn’t have to wait long for the appointment. I always appreciate that. The vet tech assistant greeted me, but I wasn’t aware this wasn’t the doctor until about halfway through the time she did a preliminary examination of my cat. It was awkward because I wasn’t sure how to address her. She then said “the doctor will be in” and that helped. I wish that was clarified with our initial interaction. The doctor, Dr. Kovach, came in and spoke extremely fast and wasn’t very friendly. I felt rushed even though she is clearly a very intelligent clinician. I am sure she cares about the animals, but I need to have a more friendly interaction with someone who can slow down. When I go back to CHV I will ask for a different doctor. I absolutely felt the exam was thorough and I received great clinical recommendations for my cat. It’s also expensive, but probably not more so than other local veterinary practices. I would recommend CHV to others and perhaps they will not mind a very fast vet visit with this particular doctor.

Dr. Miller and his staff are wonderful with my dog. They have been great for regular checkups *and* emergencies, and have taken a flexible approach to their billing when I needed it. My dog is very skittish, and the entire clinic has worked to make him feel loved even when he's trying to hide behind chairs. They take all pet concerns seriously, but work hard to be certain that the procedures and tests they carry out are necessary and worth your time and money. Even having moved away, I now travel from Queens to the UES to bring my dog to them, because of the care they take, and the fact that they still charge less than my local vet in the borough.

These people have no clue what they are doing. I brought my dog in for a growth near his anal gland. Without blood work or much testing, two “veterinarians” went to some text books they had in office to diagnose my dog with cancer. They then told me to “do what’s right for the dog” and put him down. Another vet diagnosed the tumors as benign and a inflamed prostate. My dog is healthy and well 2 years later. No thanks to these morons. The assistant found it nearly impossible to google the number of his previous vet for his medical records. If you love your pet, don’t bring them here

We had a terrible experience here. Dr Kovach was not pleasant to work with. She didnt show any compassion towards our pup who was stressed and had growing anxiety by the minute. She wasnt gentle with him and made several negative comments about his breed and his inevitable demise. She spoke poorly of us as dog owners and recommended that we give our dog prozac. Our dog was stressed out because he was being prodded with needles and getting foreign objects up his rear end without any understanding of what was going on. He absolutely does not need prozac, and I was appalled by her nonchalant suggestion. We will not be going back.

My dog has seen both Dr. Miller and Dr. Hilchuk. Both doctors are incredibly knowledgeable and talented. Dr. Miller is very honest and will openly tell you when something is a "waste of money." He is also more reserved when suggesting treatments for your pet. Dr. Hilchuk may seem a bit more aggressive in treating pets but she is very well informed and likes to get ahead of potential health issues. The dynamic of these two doctors works very well for me. They confer with one another and find the best treatments and health plan for your pet. My dog had to have surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and Dr. Hilchuk did an incredible job. I highly recommend the Carnegie Hill Veterinarians for your pet!

All of the doctors at Carnegie are caring and wonderful. When my cat, Priscilla, was having an issue, Dr. Hilchuck spent the time to do some extra research and called me a few days later after her appointment to give me some suggestions, and now she is doing much better. When my other cat, Tabitha, was having tummy troubles, the other vets there, and I think we saw all of them at some point, were very helpful and now she is doing well, too. I have been going to Dr Miller for about 20 years with cats and dogs. Emergencies are accommodated, and both the doctor and his staff consult with you over the phone. When my last dog developed a serious medical problem, he was the greatest. he did tests to diagnose, referred me to a specializing radiologist at the Animal Medical Center, and continued communication with the AMC for the next year. Who wants to feel alone when your precious pet is so sick?

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET! The vets and office staff here are some of the most unprofessional and inappropriate people I've ever encountered. I made an appointment to bring my two dogs in for new patient evaluations and Cytopoint injections. I spoke on the phone to the office for over 30 mins going over the costs of the evaluations and injections, as this was important to me in deciding if I wanted to invest in a new vet. She gave me a breakdown of costs and quoted me what the total would be for the visit. At the end of my visit, the receptionist gave me the total cost which was significantly higher than what I had been quoted over the phone. When I explained this, she told me that I must have spoken to their new receptionist over the phone, who "wasn't clear on the costs" and had misquoted me. I requested a refund on the visit, and was told by the vet herself, "it's not that much money", "we're short staffed", and "at least no one died". This is a completely inappropriate response. I was then told to contact the office supervisor to try to rectify the situation. Over a three week period I left multiple phone messages and emails requesting she please call me. I got no response. I finally called one last time (nearly a month after my initial visit) to have the records sent over to my new vet, and was able to speak to the office supervisor. She said she had gotten my messages, but hadn't had time to call me back as they were "short staffed". I find it completely unprofessional that she couldn't find 15 minutes in a 3 week period to call me. Needless to say I will never be returning to this vet's office.

I've had a wonderful experience with Carnegie Hill. They're refreshingly high-tech, with text and e-mail reminders, and I've always been able to get an appointment when needed. More than that, though, they clearly care about me and my pet(s). When my dog of 11 years had a sudden worsening of his heart failure and I completely freaked out, they had me bring him in immediately, despite having no appointment. I cannot thank Dr Miller has his team enough for the excellent care they have provided my cats, Peter and Henry, over the years. Henry, my Maine Coon cat, has had medical issues since he was a kitten. Dr Miller has literally saved Henry's life several times. From a horribly infected paw that could have cost Henry his leg, a broken hip, to pancreatitis and a feeding tube to jaundice and liver disease, Dr Miller and Carenegie Hill have coaxed Henry back to health - even though Henry channels his inner lion and tries to eat them. Amazing veterinary practice. My dog has been coming here since she was 1 years old, she is now 8 and I would not trust any other vet practice with her medical care. Even throughout all the moves, from UES to Soho to now NJ, we continue to come in regardless of the distance to see Dr. Miller, Dr. Hillchuck and Eric. The entire staff is incredibly hospitable, kind and make you feel like your pet is their priority. The doctors are very much knowledgeable and also have excellent contacts for any specialist referrals you may ever need, whether it be a veterinary oncologist or an orthopedic specialist, as was my situation. Cannot recommend this practice enough and forever grateful for the care they have shown my dog.

Very disappointed on my outcome to this appointment and the amount I was charged. I went here for a follow up with my dog's cherry eye surgery which was not successful. Dr miller offered two follow-ups visit that are FREE of charge. After 2months one of his eyes began to draining. I was charged for a brief examination is $81.00, and a full examination is $91.00 plus and the medication. To correct the surgery, Dr. Miller offered to do another surgery for FREE. Let's see how this goes.

I have used Carnegie Hill Vets for many years. They have cared carefully and thoughtfully for all my cats, two of which lived to an advanced age, and when the time came for my pets to end their suffering, both they and I were treated with the utmost compassion (I think Dr. Miller loved my Bengal almost as much as I did, and it was hard for him to tell me to let him go, but we agreed it was the kindest thing to do at that point). I have always trusted Drs. Miller and Hilchuck to think through each ailment step by step--never doing anything excessive until they identified the problem, then giving me all the options I needed to proceed. Additionally, they take the time to establish a "rapport" with my cats when I bring them in--petting them, talking to them, etc. Now that they have moved into a larger space, visiting is a breeze and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I have been 100% satisfied with the care my pets and I have received from Carnegie Hill.

After reading so many favorable comments about CHV and Dr. Miller, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did! The staff is warm and the facility clean and well-organized. Dr. Miller was a godsend. After reviewing Saki's history and an exam, he immediately knew the cause of her terrible-looking mouth lesions. He gave her an injection and advised that I change Saki's diet. NO expensive tests, no big deal. Saki was totally recovered in few weeks. I also want to point out that during our stay in the exam room, there was an assistant who stood by Saki's side and petted her the entire time to keep her comfortable. This was such a change pf pace from other vets in NYC, on many levels. CHV and Dr. Miller are a keeper and I don't intend to ever leave them! S. Katzenstein

I've been taking my puppy to Carnegie Hill for the past 3 months and each time has been a pleasant experience. Dr. Karla Kovach and the staff has been nothing but patient with my crazy puppy since he tends to freakout at the vets. Location is very convenient as it is only 1 block away from either the 6 train or Q train and there's a pet store right next door for any last minute pet supplies you may need. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience here, the doctors and staff are all courteous and professional. I'll continue to visit and recommend people in the neighborhood to stop by and give them a chance.

I came here the first time with my cat and had an excellent experience, on all levels. My cat got sick, and i came back a second time, months later. Here i met Dr. ALEX. This guy, wow, he was awesome!!! Not only did he know precisely what was wrong, he chose the most economical and least invasive choices. Normally my cat FREAKS if vets trim his claws...Dr. Alex had him rather relaxed, in fact lounging, not held and struggling....and bloop, snip, done....this guy was the cat whisperer. I could tell by the chummy way he pet him that Dr. Alex likes animals as much as he is a true old school professional with a lifetime of experience. I give him 15 out of 10. PS, my cat got better within days after treatment.
